Good evening once again, ladies, gentlemen and assorted Neckbeards! You all know exactly what time it is! That's right; it's time once again for the abnormally long-running Civilization Quest! I hope you're all as excited as I am!

You are the Long Fangs tribe, a primitive tribe of peoples on the cusp of the Bronze Age. With the assistance of your heroes and the guidance of your gods, it falls to you to guide your people through the ages, steering them through good times and bad, towards their eventual, far-off destiny. Do you think you are up to the task? Can you (to steal a phrase) build a civilization to stand the test of time?

Previous thread is here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/22902103/

Plans for the thread:

Continue on the fields, train wolf pups when they come up, repair relations with the ES, godlore, look into the first steps of masonry, government, and other stuff. OH! Monument to the Lions. Probably want to do that at some point, I suppose.

Feel free to add options, of course. These are just the ones that I remember most and are always up for change and debate.
>>
>>22997402
I think fields and Masonry should be top priority. Hasnt the big Festival with the River Brothers been in spring? maybe we should do this again, and combine it with a festival for the gods
>>
>>22995191

Presnt, but not correct.
>>
>>22997402
We need to send a true expedition into the deep wood. This spring I say we send 20-30 hunters and what not into the woods to try and find the paths to something else. We ask Hrunti to direct us to an area that does not contain anything too dangerous, something that will not bring down its wrath onto our home.

B) Hunting with Trym and the Wolf Priestess
E) Masonry research, start figuring how how to cut all this stone we have lying around and have been doing nothing with.
F) In the dead of winter we bring together the clan heads in order to discuss our current situation and our plans for the future. The priests will be here as well and everyone is invited. The war taught us we must become more organized and have a better power base. This will be the first steps towards discovering what our tribe must become to survive. If we must have a chieftain.

Also as a speaking action:

Go ask Gerin what Groza though of the expedition, and if he would help point them in the right direction to holy ground.

EVENT
The villagers are starting to become worried and deeply afraid. At night, fires have been mysteriously guttering out and when the logs are inspected, they are covered by deep frost. Further, sleep is becoming increasingly hard to come by, as dozens, even whole families, have reported awakening from horrific nightmares they can barely remember. Some can only describe a lingering horror drawing closer and closer. Other say that it was part-man, part-beast, though what manner of creature, they could not tell. Worst of all, the horror seems to be growing more pronounced, with each passing night bringing more dead fires and more cases of nightmares. The priests do not even need to be consulted for everyone to realise that this threat is by no means normal; the village is beset by some fell magic! Then... A child is found dead. He had fallen asleep, sharing the bed with his mother, but at some point had awoken in the night. The footprints leading from the hut indicate he walked alone to the training grounds near the shrine of Groza, where his body is found, frozen and gruesomely disembowelled. The child's heart, toes, eyes and fingers are all missing.

What will the tribe do?

>Open choice
>>
>>22998016
Offering my first official, non-anonymous sanction.
>>
>>22998233
I know what to do, this is the same thing that happened to Xotel.

First we get Svell and put him in Groza's shrine, leaving him with a guard of three devouts. The rest of the devouts patrol the village. Derrik and the Wolf Priestess are tot ry and use Hrunti's power to find it if possible.

Xotel on the other hand, we take him to an unused hut (Gerin waits outside with Ya'jal) and have him wait with the scary shield. We will be provided food and drink, but is to stay and meditate in the dark to try and bring the creature towards him. When it comes he is to first try and negotiate with it, ask it what it wants, if that does not work.... Xotal and Gerin will slay the beast together.
>>
>>22998233
Consult the gods, obviously, and find out if they know what's going on and if they can help.

Also, station guards around the village at night. There may be magic, but that kid didnt kill himself and then steal his own digits and shit.
>>
>>22998233
This beast, god, or evil man has defiled the shrine of Groza by slaying an innocent, defenseless child.

Have Gerin attempt to summon or otherwise contact Groza in order to learn of the enemy, and figure out how best to arm ourselves against it.
>>
>>22998333
Second, but have Trym there as back up.
>>
>>22998388
I second Mr. Hewit and hope for support from a Mr.Jackson
>>
>>22998333
Thirded, but ass in contacting Groza.
>>
>>22998333
>>22998388

Brit, meld these two ideas. Groza's shrine was the one that was defiled and so we should ask him what he knows about this. If he can feel a dark presence and all that stuff.

Don't leave out asking the other gods for support either. This seems like it will be big and we need their aide.
>>
>>22998388
>>22998333
Combine these two. Groza contacting + The Xotel thing after he is done.
>>
>>22998522
Also, I'd like to officially state that I don't think Svell had anything to do with this travesty. It seems to obvious with the timing and all.
>>
>>22998551
Ok, final plan:

First we get Svell and put him in Groza's shrine, leaving him with a guard of three devouts (emphasize this is just a precaution, as this happened shortly after him a driving and we can never be too careful). The rest of the devouts patrol the village. Derrik and the Wolf Priestess are tot ry and use Hrunti's power to find it if possible.

Have all the priests ask their gods if they know anything about what is happening, and if they do to please give us as much information as possible.

>>
>>22998651
Going with this one... but put Trym as back up with Xotel.
>>
>>22998651
Good enough, I suppose. I mean, how could this possibly to wro-
>>
>>22998651
This is me.
>>
>>22998651
This is the final plan? You have a short window to register any objections AND alternatives. If no alternatives are given, THIS will be decided upon.
>>
Can we just examine the facts?

Svell enters the village. Before Svell came, everything was relatively fine.
Svell is interested in Groza and the Devouts.
Svell sleeps alone at night, and doesn't seem to be bothered by frost, implying a connection between frost and Svell.

Fires have been gutting out due to large amounts of FROST. A child is found dead, FROZEN and disemboweled. At the shrine of Groza, a place Svell has already expressed interest in.

My bets are that it was Svell.
>>
>>22998651
I suppose I'll go with this one. Let's see how it goes.
>>
>>22998730
Add in that Trym will be back back up for Gerin and Xotel if they can't kill the new spirit. If killing it becomes necessary.
>>
>>22998651
Svell seems rather shocked when the devouts come for him! He professes total ignorance as he is pulled from the snow drift he was sleeping in and taken to Groza's shrine. As he passes the family of the child mourning over the body, his face drains of colour and he seems off-balanced and un-focussed as he is brought into the shrine. He barely moves as the devouts sit him in a corner and take a watch over the young god.

A boat is sent up-river to tell Chani of the events that have occurred. Likewise, the other priests are asked to speak to their gods for assistance. Even Gerrin sobers up at the news and immediately goes to pray, disturbed by the defiling of the training grounds. Naveen is even more disturbed and has to hurry away as her stomach empties itself. Likewise, many of the priests are horrified. Strangely, when a messenger arrives to speak to Derrik, they find the priest asleep, a look of great concentration on his face. His family says that Derrik awoke that morning looking troubled, sniffed the air and immediately went back to bed with strict orders he was NOT to be disturbed, even if the village was burning down around his ears!

Xotel is taken to an unused hut and told to stay within. He is given a little food and water and told to focus on his shield. At first, he merely seems confused by the order, but complies... After about an hour though, he becomes uneasy and unsettled, asking to be allowed to stop. He feels uneasy and unsure of himself, a sense of creeping dread getting closer and closer, the longer he sits in the dim hut, staring at the terrifying face on his shield... Even away from it, the powerful warrior says he can feel eyes burning into his back as he speaks with Gerrin.

>Wat do?
A) Provide some help from another hero or member of the tribe
B) Get a priest to allay his fears
C) Allow him to stop and forget the idea
D) Wait until the priests return with news and advice
E) Other
>>
>>22999505
D
Answer is always D
>>
>>22999505
A) Have Tyrm and Gerin wait outside the hut, but tell him he needs to continue for the safety of the tribe. If anything happens they will be right outside and can come in immediately.
B) Have Gerin reassure him and tell him he is a devout! Bravery and defending the tribe is what they were founded for.
>>
>>22999576
I'm going to second this, we need action now. We can't wait for everyone to get back.
>>
>>22999576
B) Have Chani go in there and maybe soothe him while he works his magic with the shield. Have her spam healing while he analyses the shield.
>>
>>22999576
Naw. We let him stop. Britfag drops hints and Xotels fright is just such a hint.

C. Allow him to stop. Clearly this isn't a good idea and I don't have any desire to continue on with it. Derrik is doing something and I suggest we wait it out and see what he comes up with but keep Xotel under guard and put that shield somewhere else so he doesnt have to see it.
>>
>>22999640
Just because he is afraid doesn't mean we can simply stop. The shield is active now, who knows what will happen if we just leave it in there.
>>
>>22999746
We don't know if it's "active" or not. Stop pulling shit out of your fucking ass. I swear you're the most annoying person in this thread.

seconding >>22999640
>>
>>22999775
Well, he HAS been here since the beginning.
Yeah, he can be stupid sometimes, but at least he's OUR idiotic bloodthirsty Jotun.
>>
>>22999775
He can feel the shield when he is not meditating and looking away, if that isn't active I don't know what it. We started something, and britfag won't just let it end. We need to keep going.

Rina's shrine by the waterfall is several days away, if we wait for her to come back we could face more deaths. We need to push through this now or risk doom.
>>
>>22999746
I think this is something we should continue to investigate, so as long as we have the two toughest guys in the tribe there to back him up if shit goes down, then I say continue the ritual.
>>
>>22999806
Which is why we separate them and keep both under strong guard. Whatever is happening can't be stopped, I agree, but I feel that forcing him to continue will only add to our troubles later.
>>
Forget Chani, going with option
D)
With the change that we're only waiting on Hrunti, Groza, and Khoine.

Other gods aren't important right now.
>>
>>22999775
Now now. Everyone in this thread (and all over 4chan) is entitled to their own opinion. Regardless of if you agree or not, this is a collaborative game and everyone is entitled to their say on how things are run. If you don't agree, then fair enough, that's just as much you're right, but no-one has the right to insult anyone else. Let's all stay friendly here, okay? There's no need for insults over a game.

Now, I am tallying up the votes now. Are there any further ideas or objections?
>>
>>22999576
Thirding, but I want to add:

E) Try to get the gods to tell us something in the mean time.
>>
>>22999848
I'm putting forth my idea again but adding in that we separate Xotel from the Shield and put them both under guard.

Nothing good will come of the continued meditation even if what is happened cannot now be stopped.
>>
>>22999848
Wait for Hrunti, Groza, and Khoine. Chani is too far away.

Also, put Trym and Gerrin in the hut with Xotel.
>>
>>22999576
Continue the summoning, but put Gerin and Trym inside with him
>>
>>22999896
is me changing to
>>22999874
>>
>>22999576
Emboldened slightly by Gerrin's words, Xotel returns to the hut and sits in the dim light, staring at the face on his shield, as Trym and Gerin both stand outside. After only a little while however, Xotel's nerve breaks again and he scrambles for the exit, begging to be allowed to stop. Again, Gerrin rebuffs him and Xotel returns inside. This time, agitated sounds can be heard from within. Occasionally, Xotel can be heard talking, seemingly to himself. Suddenly, he shouts in anger, seemingly at no-one! He gets into a screaming match with empty air, his tone turning from anger to fear, but just as Gerrin and Trym are about to rush inside, the sounds stop. The two heroes cautiously enter and find the devout warrior kneeling in front of the shield, staring at it raptly, utterly motionless. As they approach, Xotel stands and turns, moving past them as though they weren't even there, swaying slightly, like a drunkard. Behind him, the shield is burnt black, the design scoured from it as though by fire.

>Very quick wat do! Time limit!
A) Try to talk to Xotel
B) Follow Xotel
C) Try to stop Xotel
D) Attack Xotel
E) Examine the shield
F) Other
>>
>>23000410
A. Talk to him. He hasnt done anything hostile as of yet and between the two heroes and any other nearby guards if he tries anything we might have him.

And allow him to continue on to see where he is going.
>>
>>23000410
Be sure to include which hero does what!
>>
C) GRAB HIM!
>>
>>23000410
C)

Apprehend him.
Use force if neccesary.
If he tries to fight, give him a fight.
Slay the motherfucker if he gets too rowdy.

Take no chances guys.
>>
>>23000410
C
I don't think talking to him will do any good, we can examine the shield afterwards, and if he is indeed hostile, as I suspect, then stopping him is the best bet, especially if he isn't hostile, in which case harming him would be a bad idea.
>>
>>23000456
C) Gerrin grabs him
E) Trym F) Grabs the shield, averting his eyes, bringing it out into the sunlight, throwing it down as soon as he can
>>
>>23000410

B) follow him, if he is about to put anyone else in danger apprehend him. Its worth seeing what he does, without pissing him off. He is acting as if we arnt there and that gives us an oppotunity to observe him.
>>
>>23000410
First A) and if that doesn't work, then C)
>>
>>23000410
F) Follow him, but shout as we go for as many devouts and hunters to follow us as possible. We must be prepared to fight if necessary. he might be heading to holy ground.
>>
>>23000492
That C) should be a B)
>>
>>23000440
Have Gerrin attempt to talk to him while Trym stay close in case Xotel should try anything devious.

Gerin does the speaking since he and Xotel are fellow devouts and is more likely to answer him.
>>
>>23000485
>>23000504
Yes with these two, try to have someone talk to him though as they're moving. If he doesn't respond just follow him.
>>
>>23000521
Fine, i'll second this.
But only because I picked a penny up on tails today.
>>
>>23000521
>>23000504
I'll go with these if that's possible
>>
>>23000570
So we're going with:

Try and talk to him, but if it doesn't work just follow him. I like Ref's thing where we call for some extra muscle just in case. Let the man walk.
>>
Voting time up! Tallying the votes and writing the reaction now...
>>
>>23000617
>I'm not even sure I've counted these up right. Fuck I'm tired.

Xotel does not react when called out to, simply continuing his journey to the door. Trym reaches out to stop the warrior, as Xotel is about to cross the threshold. Xotel turns... And Trym is momentarily stunned in shock! In the light from the door, the Long Fangs hero now has a good look at Xotel's face. The warrior is no longer himself!

Xotel's eyes are now black, the irises a gleaming yellow. Blood stains his mouth and chin and his teeth are long and almost bestial in appearance! His cheeks are sunken and hollow, giving the appearance of a man wasted by hunger or disease. Even as Trym stands in shock at the hideously transformed man before him, the thing that was once Xotel looks down at the arm and hand Trym grabbed, the skin stretched tight over the bones so as to resemble a claw.
>'Xotel' rolled a 29
The thing that was once Xotel flings out his arm, pushing Trym away with such force that it flings the hero through the air, crashing into Gerrin and sending them both tumbling back with such force as to crack the wattle and daub wall they smash into! The creature then turns, steps out the door and leaps into the air, landing on the thatch roof of the hut opposite and crawling with lightning speed over it, leaping to the next and heading for the training grounds, terrified villagers screaming in horror and fear at its passing!
>>
Unfortunately, somehow, the time has slipped by, YET AGAIN.

I really am sorry for this, everyone, but I am exhausted. The conclusion of this crisis will have to wait until next time!

The next thread is at the usual time of 1600EST, on Thursday! I hope you all show up then! Again, I am so sorry for the delay; I feel terrible for this.
