In the wagon, Hannah had the gun in hand, pointing toward Andalus, as she pulled the trigger multiple times, nothing happening.

Finally, with a 'tch', she dropped it, and her hands sparked, as you felt her wings channeling energy to use-
When Kelaris's hand blurred, a cold iron dagger slammming into the wall right behind Hannah- pinning her intangible wing.

She screamed, and you felt the power leave her.

"What's going on?" Cass asked, and scrambled for her peacebound spear, tearing the cable and wax off of her spearhead.
"Tis simple." Andalus said, and whirled his crossbow off of his back, putting it up against Hannah's forehead. "An assassin. Not unusual, in mine circles."
"Hannah, why would you do something like that?" Cass snapped.

Hannah didn't respond, looking back to the knife pinning her wing down.
>>
>>23125592
Pull the revolver on her, make sure it's pointed at her at all times.

"I knew you were up to something since you tried claiming you were the Seer. Why even bother?"
>>
"I assume because she's a double agent for Sky." turn to Andalus and explain, "The woman leading the forged."

"Thankfully I removed the firing pin from her gun awhile back."
>>
>>23125592
"What did you hope to accomplish with that, Hannah?"
>>
>>23125592
Bind her down with whatever cold iron we have, possibly Tannis's cold iron shackles if she still has them.

"I never did trust you, seems my hunch was right"
>>
"I assume because she's a double agent for Sky." You say, and turn to Andalus when his eyebrow raises. "The woman leading the forged."
"Ah." He responded.
"Hannah..." Cass said- and put her spear up to Hannah's neck.

You couldn't tell what the look in Cass's eyes were.
"What did you hope to accomplish with that, Hannah?" You ask, and she met your eyes.
"... I hoped to kill him." She said. "Obviously. Seems I failed."
>>
>>23125680
"yes, obviously you did. Now the only question that remains is what do we do with the traitor"
>>
>>23125680
"I was asking what you hoped to accomplish by killing Andalus, smart ass."
>>
"Yes, obviously you did." You say. "I was asking what you hoped to accomplish by killing Andalus, you smart ass."
"Cassie, are you really going to let them hurt me?" Hannah asked, her voice weak and pitiful. "We're... we're friends, aren't we?"
Cass trembled, and for a long moment, she thought- and then shook her head.

"Abel." Kelaris said, in a low voice, as he pulled the horses to a stop. "I think you should lead everyone away from here."
>>
>>23125761
"Why are you helping her, Hannah? Why betray us like this?"
>>
>>23125761
"That's probably a good idea."
>>
>>23125761
Stand up, nod to Kelaris. "Alright everyone, lets give them some alone time." Then start marching off into the woods.
>>
>>23125819
I can guarantee this will go badly, so let's be nearby just in case.
>>
"Why are you helping her, Hannah?" You ask. "Why betray us like this?"
She remained perfectly silent.
"Lyra, aren't you going to-"
"Don't even try it with me." Lyra said.

"Abel." Kelaris said.
You nod to him, and get to your feet. "Alright, everyone, let's give them some alone time."
"I... I." Cass said, as everyone else made their way out of the wagon, her spear in hand. "I can't just-"
"Don't let them hurt me, Cassie." Hannah said, her voice quiet, her eyes bugging out with fear. "I didn't mean to- I ... Cassie..."
>>
>>23125856
"Cass, lets go..."
>>
>>23125856
"You're laying it on thick today aren't you? You didn't mean to? You just said you tried to kill him. Stop the shit."
>>
>>23125856
"I'm sorry, Cass..."

"Be careful, Kelaris."
>>
"You're laying it on thick today, aren't you?" You ask. "You didn't mean to? You just said you tried to kill him. Stop the shit."
"Cassie..." Hannah simply said, pinned there by her wing, as Kelaris gave you a pointed look, then nodded to Cass.
"Cass, let's go..." You say, and take her hand, leading her out of the wagon.
"Be careful, Kelaris." You say, and he nodded, solemn, reaching at another cold iron knife on his belt.

You make your way out into the marsh.
"Cassie?" You hear Hannah call from the wagon. "Cassie?!"
There was the sound of a struggle, but soon enough, it stopped, and you made your way with the rest of the group, out of earshot.

"Well, now, I wonder why Sky would want to kill me." Andalus said, conversationally, leaning against a rock out of earshot of the wagon. "I truly hope it isn't a result of mine name in some prophecy." He said. "My hatred of such things knows no bounds, truly."
"She also said she was the Seer." Lyra said. "So maybe she isn't? But what would she have to gain from pretending to be."
"I'm uncertain what such a Seer is, I admit." Andalus added.
>>
>>23126035
"I figured she wasn't the Seer when she told us the other day. If anything, it may as well be Andalus here. 'Come to Skiitara and you'll meet a man' is what the message said.
>>
>>23126035
"The Seer is part of a prophecy. I always knew she wasn't, because I left part of it out."

Look to Andalus and grin a little, "It said the Seer would be a man I would meet in Skiitara."
>>
>>23126035
"If you are the Seer, Andalus, she'd want to kill you as three of us are they key to her destruction."
>>
"The Seer is part of a prophecy. I always knew she wasn't, because I left part of it out." You say. "It said the Seer would be a man I would meet in Skiitara."
"Clever." He said.
"If you are the Seer, Andalus, she'd want to kill you as three of us are the key to her destruction."
"And she lied so that you would not look for me." He said. "Unless I miss part of what must happen. What do you mean by 'key to her destruction', if it lies within mine rights to ask?"

You hear a slight wail from the wagon, and Cass looked toward the wagon, worriedly, but calmed by degrees when Tannis grabbed her other hand. She was very, very silent, trembling.
Andalus looked to her.
"You were her friend, right?" He asked, and Cass nodded. "Then this is not your fault. You are not betraying her. She is the one betraying you."
>>
>>23126182
"There's three weapons, and three people to wield them. The Seer gets the Spear and the Sentry gets the Hammer. The three need to meet, and that's as much as I know."
>>
>>23126182
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you my suspicions sooner, Cass. If I was wrong I'd be doing nothing but hurting you, and if I was right then she couldn't know."

"Three weapons that have something to do with the creation of the world, wielded by three specific people. I have the sword and the hammer. I am to have the sword, and the sentry is to have the hammer. The seer is to have the spear, which my father possessed. I don't know where it is now though."
>>
>>23126182
whelp me you and some one else collect magic weapons and smash stab and slice sky dead. I have my weapon and the hammer for the other person... all we need is them and a spear for you and the other person... the spear should look some what like my sword (draw it)

I am just wondering why the gun didn't go off? that should have made you head a red bit of mist
>>
>>23126182
"I'm sorry, Cass, but he is right. We took care of her, and now she betrays us."
>>
"I'm sorry, Cass, but he is right." You say. "We took care of her, and now she betrays us."
Cass said something, but her throat was dry and the words caught in it. Clearing her throat, she said it again.
"I know." She said.

"There's three weapons, and three people to wield them." You say. "The Seer gets the Spear, the Sentry gets the Hammer, and I am to have the sword." you say. "The three need to meet, and that's as much as I know."

"So you still have the hammer, so you haven't met the sentry yet." He said, eying the hammer and sword on your belt. "And the spear... is it that one?" He asked, looking up to Cass's spear. You shake your head.
"I don't know where it is now, though." You say.
"Hm. And there's no easy way to identify it..." He said, thinking. "I strongly doubt that you can simply give the Seer every spear in the world, and I trust you've already looked through the armory for it..." He eyed Lyra's sword for a moment, before closing his eye.
"'Tis problematic."

His eyes dark, Kelaris made his way over to you.
"Abel. Come with me." He said. "She's ready to answer your questions, now."
>>
>>23126318
"Very well."
>>
"Very well." You say, and make your way toward the wagon.

Hannah was sitting there, her wings pinned against the side of the wagon by four cold iron daggers, her hands bleeding and shackled, a look in her eyes that reminded you of Dirae.

"Go on, ask." Kelaris said, and didn't twitch as Hannah spit at him.
>>
>>23126372
"How long have you been working for Sky?"
>>
>>23126372
"Why did you betray us? Why are you helping her?"

"Do you actually care about Cass?"
>>
"How long have you been working for Sky?" you ask.
"Ever since he saved me." She responded. "Ever since I was lost and alone, with nobody to help me, and he knelt down and gave me hope and love. As long as you've known me."
"Do you actually care about Cass?"
"Of course not." She said, listlessly laying on the wall. "She was always a whore at the compound, content to fuck anyone who looked at her in order to win approval. All of those fools at the compound were useless, useless."
"Why did you betray us? Why are you helping her?"
"Why did you kill my mother?" She asked, and met your eyes.
Hiding behind them were hatred. Pure, utter hatred. You were looking at the true Hannah now, one that hated you like nobody else ever had, focused directly at you.
"He told me what you did to her." She said. "That you slammed an arrow into her forehead. It was your fault, Abel. That's why I betrayed you- because you're a murderer."
>>
>>23126483
the only fairy that I've ever crossed paths with tried to kill me, Ariana and Tannis; I defended them and myself.
>>
>>23126483
"Your mother shouldn't have tried to kill me then."

"Unfortunately, you're going to meet the same fate as her, too."
>>
>>23126372
"Why should I not kill you?"
>>
>>23126483
"Your mother was also working for him, you know. She, along with a werewolf, was going to try and kill us. So we killed her, and the werewolf, and Gabriel, although that one didn't stick. Gabe didn't care about her. Had her beaten when she started to act up before his plan was ready."
>>
"The only fairy that I've ever crossed paths with tried to kill me, Ariana and Tannis; I defended them and myself." You say. "Why should I not kill you?"
"Because I have information you want." She said. "It worked with the Order knights who captured me, so it will work with you, too. Promise to free me and I'll tell you more about Sky."
Kelaris was silent, apparently waiting, his arms crossed.
>>
>>23126595
"Your mother was working with Sky. I killed her in self defense, because I had to. Not because I hated her, or you.
But still, I am sorry that I took her from you. I know what that kind of pain is like, and I'm sorry."
>>
>>23126595
"No."

"She doesn't care about you either. To her, this is all a game, which she intends to ruin."
>>
>>23126595
"That implies you won't tell me what I want to know right now. And you will."
>>
>>23126595
"What do you know of her that I don't? About her "secret" mountain fortress, or the staff she uses to control the forged, or the ability to compile items, or the fact that she's only ever bested me once in all the times these events have repeated despite rampant cheating?"
Say the last part quietly.
>>
>>23126595
"You're not in a position to make demands."
>>
>>23126595
"How about a counter deal? You tell me what I want to know, and I'll make your death quick."
>>
"What do you know of her that I don't? About her 'secret' mountain fortress, or the staff she uses to control the forged, or the ability to compile items, or the fact that she's only ever bested me once in all the times these events have repeated despite rampant cheating?"
"I know where the spear is, and who the sentry is." She said. "Promise me."
"That implies you won't tell me what I want to know right now. And you will."
"Will I?" She asked.
"You're not in a position to make demands."

Kelaris reached up and twisted one of the knives pinning her down, and her entire body arched in pain, as she screeched.
"Oh yes, yes, torture your prisoner some more." She said, trying to stop her own shaking. "You'll only make her more certain to refuse to tell you anything. Freedom or nothing."
>>
>>23126708
"No."
>>
>>23126708
Let's play a game of fucking russian roulette with her.
>>
>>23126708
Get very close to her and stare into her eyes.

"You will tell me what I want to know. I will not kill you. I will just leave you trapped inside your own mind reliving your worst nightmares. You've seen what Sky can do. You know that I can as well. Tell me. NOW."
>>
>>23126708
"Kelaris, stop. We'll just cut them off if you don't talk, Hannah. And Sky won't be helping you get them back, either."
>>
>>23126759
Tack on.

"Painless death. Or eternal damnation."
>>
>>23126708
"I wonder if you'd lose your wings for Sky again. Only this time, there won't be anyone coming along to get them back for you."
>>
>>23126708
"I'm going to cut off your wings, then your arms, and then your legs, unless you start talking."
>>
I'm against cutting off her wings. Or anything else for that matter. It means we're stooping to Sky's level.
>>
>>23126759
>>23126779
I'm guessing we're bluffing unless we're actually going to roll for mind hacking.
>>
>>23126823
It's mostly just threats.
But I am for cutting off her wings. She was willing to do it for Gabe once. So now she can do it for Gabe again.
>>
"You will tell me what I want to know." You say, your voice gaining a cold edge. "I will not kill you. I will just leave you trapped inside your own mind reliving your worst nightmares. You've seen what Sky can do. You know that I can as well. Tell me. Now. Painless death, or eternal damnation."
She started giggling.
"Oh, yes, you're a big spooky angel." She said, still trembling uncontrollably. "Abel, I've met Dirae, and Stirge, and Sky. You don't have their powers. You were born here. I'm not an idiot."
"I'm going to cut off your wings, then your arms, and then your legs, unless you start talking." You say.
She gave you another giggle.
"Do it, then, big man." She said.

Kelaris gave you a Look, as if to ask if you really wanted him to.
>>

That makes us just like the Order.
I'm for cutting off her wings, then letting her go.
>>
>>23126868
"I'll give you a choice."

"Would you like to die the way your mother did, or a different way?"
>>
"I'm surprised that you let Gabriel cut away your wings for this. It must have been painful."
"It would have been if it wasn't a lie." She said. "It was all part of the plan, to pretend he'd cut me."
"So you believe what sky's telling you about our relative power levels, huh? Your mistake."
You nod to Kelaris, and he brought his sword to bear. She arched her back again, seizuring in pain, her entire body tensing for a long, long time.
"Your mistake is believing I feel pain." She said, and started laughing, as the pinned wings start fading into fairy dust. "Dirae's shard is protecting me from everything you can do."
"You're still feeling it." Kelaris said, his eyes low. "I can tell."
He met your eyes.
"She's insane." He said.

"I'll keep my offer." She said, her entire body trembling uncontrollably, as faerie magic blossomed up from the stumps in her back, 'bleeding' energy.
"Give me freedom, and I'll give you information. It worked last time."
>>
"You do realize the only option here is your death, right? The only question is whether or not the wolves get you while you're still alive."
>>
>>23127073
"There's no way I can trust you. You've given me no choice, just as your mother didn't."

Voting to kill her with a quick blow.

>>
>>23127073
"Fine. But not in the way that you're thinking. Kelaris, remove her wings completely. I'll hold onto your wings until you're ready to tell us what you know. Until then you can wander around magicless and get mauled by a bear or something."
>>
>>23127073
Let's do that "I promised to free you, not to let you keep your health" routine. Or just promise that *we* let him go, and have someone else kill her.

>>23127073

i feel like we're missing something here but i can't for the life of me figure out what.

I'll stick with removing her wings.

"Nobody has a reason to live." She said, and laughed. "And Sky would kill me if she knew I betrayed her."
"Who did you talk to last time, Hannah?"
"Sky." She said. "Back when she was Gabriel, before she left me on the island to make the storm."

You take the stone dagger, and look down at it... and then with your foot, you smash it. She giggled again.
"Yes, yes, destroy the prop for the lie. Face it, Abel." She said. "You'll have to kill me and lose your information, or free me and keep it. No third option."

You clear your throat, and put your hands on her head...
And you're not sure how to do this. How *do* you plan to remove Dirae's shard?

Metasapient. That word, that term... it's something familiar to you, somehow. Suddenly, a woman stood right next to you, having appeared from nowhere. Stirge.

I seem to remember him mentioning something like that way back when we first met Kale.

>>23127553
A gift, wasn't it? Maybe we can force her out of the game.

>>23127466
"Why shouldn't I? Give me one good reason."

"Why are you so desperate to keep the shard?"
"I don't want to be empty again." Hannah sobbed.
"Kelaris, can fairies be bound in any way? Something similar to elf boons, perhaps?"
"Yes, but it doesn't work on changelings." He said.
"Where is the spear?"
"In Vigil's lake, hidden." She called, trembling, shaking- openly sobbing, terrified. "Please don't, don't take it, don't take my heart."

"Thank you, Stirge. Go ahead and take it out. Sky seems to be able to find me regardless, and your protection would have worn out sooner or later anyway."
"As you will." She said, and put both her hands on Hannah's head. "I will appear only once more, after this, and only when you unlock both seeds. Are you certain?"
>>
>>23127590
"Yes."
>>
>>23127590
"Yes."

I value Stirge as a source of information. Hannah's going to be irrevocibly ruined and we gain nothing from it.

Great plan. Sky will pick her up and then we'll have to deal with more freak weather.

>>23127590
No, I'd rather have you around.
>>
"No point." You say. "I'll just kill her after, and I'd rather have you around."
"It's your choice." Stirge said, and nodded. "Will you need anything else?"
Hannah looked up at Stirge, still crawling as far away as she could.
"What other information can you offer us?" Kelaris said. "After all... We could have stirge remove your heart any time."
"I uh-" She said, frozen. "Wh- what do you want to know?"
>>
I don't get why everyone is being a dickass dick today.

People are advocating torture, amputation, and straight up murder? Jesus fuck, we even treated Sky better than that. This is horrifically out of character for Abel given his past actions.
>>
>>23127590

No we will only lose things if we do this.

"F-for her glamour magic. She can... control minds, and Sky can't do that."
"I want to know what Gabriel hopes to gain from all this. Why does he go to such lengths to do these things that don't even benefit himself?"
"I- I asked him the same thing. He said it was because... because he was bored. He needed something to pass the time."
"Why are you less afraid of death then having the shard removed?"
"Death means I'll return to the elements... but the shard is my heart. I'll be... empty again without it."

"I- I don't know. N-near the free cities, in the mountains." She said. "You can see Celesthem from there."

"Logistics."
"I... don't know what that means."

"Methods of movement? Is she just teleporting them everywhere or are they marching?"
"I don't know." She said, pitifully. "She started the attack after I left."
"What weapons does she carry with her?"
"I n-never met Gareth. A-anakata has these edgardian knives with silver, and Dirae has a lot of weapons, and... Sky has something she called a... Gauss Rifle. He- he called it his trump card for the troll."

The word was familiar, very familiar. It also spelled very, very bad things for the health of your companions.

"When did you meet sky?"
"After I found my mother was dead." She said, quietly.
"When were you captured by the order?"
"A... few months ago."
"What did you tell the knights?"
".... Where the changeling compound was." She said.
"And... what if I gave you a new heart."
"You can... you can do that?" She asked.
>>
>>23128160
"No because I'm being run by a collection of sociopathic monkeys right now."
>>
>>23128153
It's not worth the effort.

Logically, Stirge is a much more powerful ally. Pulling Hannah's heart out and replacing it would be a waste of time and resources. Much easier to kill her.
>>
>>23128160
"I don't know, but I'm willing to try."

>>23128187
It was a "waste" to give Lyra new fingers. It was a "waste" to keep helping Tori after she became soultorn and could no longer do anything for us. It was a "waste" to demand that Sky release Kee.

Abel gladly "wastes" resources to help people, and frankly, you disgust me as a person.
>>
>>23128222
>>23128221
>>23128215

>>
This is fucking hilarious
>>
You know, this thread actually scares me a lot. I always thought that /tg/ was basically the white knight at heart. I thought that Exabyte wouldn't take obviously stupid requests and that people who 'veto' other peoples votes were just being vocally rude.

But holy crap, I'm gonna start using vetos, because if I don't then Exabyte will just let the protagonist start raping and murdering like a thatguy.
>>
>>23128314
Mercy > Justice

What gives us the right to make that decision anyhow?

>>23128250
>>23128283

Honestly, why does she deserve our help?

Even before she started helping Sky she was a traitor. Selling the entire Changeling compound out? That's betrayal right there.
>>
>>23128160

talk to the rest of the group they need a say, especially Cass.
>>
>>23128314
She was captured by the order and had to do that to survive. It makes sense, but It's probably going to happen again if Gabe finds her.

>>23128321
If you look up at the vote when it all started it was almost unanimous to give Kale some 'alone time' with her. Which is shitty, but there you are.
>>
>>23128356
Because people deserve second chances?
>>
>>23128352
Yes. Drain on resources. Not worth carrying around.

Don't confuse logic with emotion. Logic is heartless.
>>
>>23128321
The problem with vetos is that they effectively let you vote twice. It's samefagging
For example
2 votes yes
2 votes no
1 veto against yes
final tally: 1 yes 2 no, even though there were 4 people voting
>>
>>23128379
Then have a fucking heart you goddamn monster.
>>
Why is everyone so sensitive about the torture? Talking it out wouldn't have done a thing, freeing her was out of the question, and she willingly, emphasis, WILLINGLY sold her friends out. She KNEW what kind of person her mother was, or at least had an idea, she knew what the order would do to the changeling camp, she knew the consequences of all her actions. In fact, she was ready to die. If she actually shot the princeps what would she have done, teleported? Nope, she'd have been tackled by everyone and executed like we're doing now. The bitch had it coming and knew it herself.
>>
>>23128398
I do. I was just pointing out what logic is.

Seriously, Logic is horrible.
>>
>>23128389
That assumes that it's a yes/no question. If the options are 'say 1, say 2' and someone veto's 2, that doesn't make 1 any more likey to happen, because they both would have anyway.
>>
>>23128321
>I don't take most stupid requests- but I take consensus. If I were to only take requests that 'the good guy' would act like, then it wouldn't be a quest- it'd just be me railroading.

Ripping her heart out would be vengeance.
>>
>>23128518
I'm very much for informing the rest of the group first. Imagine if one of your closest friends killed the closest thing you had left of family and didn't even let you have a choice in the matter.

Cass will hate us if we take either option without telling her.
>>
>Calling votes now.
>>
>>23128564
lol, I leave for a while and this shit got morbid.

I say we let Cass say her farewells to her, after all of this the only way we can really go is to kill her without screwing us later on, unless cass turns on us later. I wouldnt let cass do it though since she is so attached to her as family, it would probably be best to take her off a ways and do it quietly and gently.
>>
>>23128668

ask group what to do after they hear the information, specifically Cass, she betrayed her home and everything she knew.
>>
>>23128564
>I smell a retcon
We asked stirge if she was a shard of Abel and she confirmed it.
Which heavily implies that Abel is an angel.
>>
Quietly, you get to your feet.
"I'm... going to go talk to the group." You say, and make your way out of the wagon.
You make your way down to where everybody was hanging out, and they're all sitting there, as Andalus has his eyepatch removed, showing everyone the blue marble that sat in the socket.
"While I was making my crossbow, it misfired, see, and hit mine eye. I lost it, but I have never seen more clearly since. I've never made the same mistake agai- Oh? Welcome back, Abel, how did it go?"
He noticed you, slid the eyepatch back on, and turned to you. Quietly, everyone else did as well. Lyra, Tannis, Ariana, and... Cass.
>What say?
>>
>>23128689
you voted for morbid when you let kale torture her.
>>
>>23128738
"She's given us some information. But there's another matter.

Cass, the reason the Order attacked the compound was because Hannah told them where it was when they captured her."
>>
>>23128738
"Hannah admitted that she was the one who sold out the changeling camp to the Order.
She's asking for death, which would return her to the elements. I could also tear out the part of her that Dirae stuck in, and Hannah fears this more than anything else. She says it will make her empty.

I don't feel like this should be my choice."
>>
>>23128779

Some o that
>>
>>23128738
Tell them what you learned from them, then say that you you believe the best solution is to kill her, in order to make sure she cannot do any more harm, and in order to console the group and specifically cass, tell them that killing her would be releasing her from Sky's power, since she is obviously under some kind of pressure to obey, almost like mind control. They dont need to know about the heart shard, only that they will be helping her by killing her.
>>
>>23128771
"Dirae also placed a shard of herself within Hannah, to use as a 'heart'.

She's asking for death. My question is, what do you want to do?"
>>
>>23128779
change that last bit to: "I need help making this choice." and i'll second it.
>>
>>23128738

Hannah was in deed still working for Sky, apparently the fairy we fought was her mother. After she learned of her death Sky made contact and implanted a shard into her, following this Hannah got captured by the order and told them where to find the changeling village. she was also the one who conjured the storm and sunk our ship.

she also told me where to find the spear and who the sentry is.
>>
>>23128767
I dont remember voting for Kelaris to torture her, only contribution I made was tell her that she failed, and I gave the option open for what we did with her. But you are right, I didnt try to stop it.
>>
>>23128738
"Crios is the sentry. The spear is in Vigil's lake. Sky's base is somewhere near the free cities in the mountains with Celesthem in view. She also has a weapon like my guns that is 200 times as deadly."

"Cassie, Hannah....Hannah betrayed you not once, but twice. She had gotten captured by Order Knights and told them where the compound was. At this point, we can't let her go."

"How do you want to do this?"

"She's given us some information. But there's another matter." You say. "Cass... the reason the Order attacked the compound was because Hannah told them where it was when they captured her."
Cass was silent, and then took a deep breath.
"She... she told them. She's the reason everyone I know is dead or missing." Cass said, let out a bitter chuckle.. "And she... lied to my face. She pretended she lost just as much as I did. More, even. And I ate it up."
"Hannah was indeed working for Sky." You say. "Dirae also placed a shard of herself into her, to use as a 'heart'. She's asking for death, which would return her to the elements. I could also tear out the part of her that Dirae stuck in, and Hannah fears this more than anything else. She says it will make her empty."
You close your eyes.
"I need help making the choice."

"Tisn't my choice." Andalus said. "I do not know her. I abstain."
"... Kill her." Lyra said. "We don't lose anything from killing her."
"No, don't." Tannis said. "Maybe she wasn't in control of herself." Tannis said. "Maybe it's the thing that Dirae put in her."
"... I agree with Tannis." Ariana said.
"She took Jaeden and Riba and Thor and everyone from me." Cass said. There's no reason to give her mercy. Kill her."
Her eyes glinted green, and she choked back another bitter laugh.
>>
>>23128932
She betrayed the compound before she ever met Sky.

So I guess it's death then. Make it swift.
>>
>>23128932
I agree with >>23128966
Do it swift and be done with it.
>>
>>23128932
>I saw this coming.

Let's ask Kelaris.

But I'm voting to kill her. It's honestly the best decision at this point. We have no way of adding another shard to serve as her "heart." Removing Dirae's shard will only weaken Stirge and she would rather die.

The only other option is to let her go, and that's stupid.

Also, "Andalus, what's the punishment for attempted murder in Skitarris?"

Don't fob the descision off to the state, that's a lame way of doing it. It's our choice, at the end of it.

"Andalus, what's the punishment for attempted murder in Skiitara?"
"For a traveler trying to kill a princeps, like in this situation... death."

You take a deep breath, and then get up and go back to the wagon. Stirge was missing, but Hannah was still sitting there shackled, quietly.
Kelaris saw the look in your eyes, then nodded.
"Don't burden yourself." He said. "I'll do it. Go back down there."
He cleared his throat. "I've done something like this before. Another weight won't be much, to me."

You make your way back down to the group, and they were all sitting, silent.
"... I hate that we ever had to do this." Cass said, her hand on her forehead. "But ... it was the best choice."

Lyra pulled her into a hug, tightly, and then suddenly a dawning realization entered Tannis's eyes.
"Mister Andalus?" She asked, in a low voice.
"Hm, yes?" He responded.
"... Is there a record of people who enter skiitara anywhere?"
"Oh, there is in Skiitaris, and sometimes in Vigil. Tis common for our nation to keep extensive records."
"So... you'd be able to find if someone named Thor entered, right?"
"We would, yes, if one doesn't mind rummaging through a lot of paper. In truth, that is mine way of doing most things. The rummaging business, I mean."

Before Andalus's eyebrow suddenly widened.
"Excuse me, Miss Lyra. May I see your hand?" He asked.
"Er, okay." She said, holding up her intact hand.
He chuckled. "I meant the other one, miss Lyra. I'm curious about the contraptions you wear on your hand."
Lyra grinned. "They aren't contraptions. They're my actual fingers."

The man took her hand, and twisted one of the fingers off, then grinned. "This is very interesting." He said, and twisted it back on. Lyra twitched in pain as he did so, and then he sighed.

"You made them?" He asked, and you nodded.
"I never knew Abel was good at this sort of thing until lately." She said.
"Hm, interesting." He said. "Do they work like the Forged?"
You open your mouth to answer, but he started talking again."
"I suppose if the gears were based on a smaller scale..."
You start to describe it, but he spoke directly over you, his eye staring straight down into the ground, boring a hole.
"Though I suppose you don't use any orichalicum to power it, so how do you get it?"
You sigh, and simply wait for him to talk again. And talk he does.
"Aha!" He cried, finally. "It's powered the same way she controls it- it's built to sense the movement of her stumps and move in the same way. But you'd need to be some kind of savant to figure it out so exactly, and the stumps don't look old enough for enough time to figure it out the hard way..."
He raised his eyebrow.
"Tell me, Abel, are you human? Because elf magic is perhaps the only way one could accomplish such a gadget in such short time."
>>
>>23129525
Show him the tattoo, "I'm human, but an elf named Leez gave me a boon that included her crafting expertise.
Took a lot of convincing to get me to take it."
>>
>>23129525
More or less human, yes.
>>
Rolled 16

>>23129525
I borrowed the skills.
>>
>>23129525
"Going to wait for me to answer this time?"

"Yes, I'm human. An elf gave me her skill at crafting because she said I would need it."
>>
>>23129525
"I'm not an elf. I was born completely human, just ask my Sister."

Give him a smile.
>>
>>23129525
Let's see if he can work it out, just smile at him.
>>
>>23129616
This'll be entertaining.
>>
>>23129525

undeniably human but i received a boon from an elf to help me, help Kelaris make it through this.

her gift gave me exceptional crafting skills but the knowledge of the machines came from an altogether different source, which i can't tell you very much about.

worry about Kelaris a bit, shouldn't he be done?
>>
"Going to wait for me to answer this time?" You ask.
He bowed low to you, puttiung his palms on the ground.
"I'm sorry." He said. "Tis a bad habit of mine. I profusely apologize for being so rude."
"I'm human, but an elf named Leez gave me a boon that included her crafting expertise." You say, and pull up your sleeve. "She said I would need it."
"Tch, more prophecy." He said, and lay back on the ground, setting the enormous crossbow aside. "I hate it. So much. I hate not having all the information. I need all the information. Were I an elf myself, Mine compulsion would be knowledge."
He chuckled, and closed his eyes.

Kelaris came back, his eyes dark, and took a seat, taking a bite of some of the meat and eggs you'd made.
"I thought you didn't eat meat." Tannis said, suddenly.
"That was Kale." Kelaris said. "Due to his nature. My own allows me to eat meat."
He didn't say anything, and his face showed no emotion.
"What is your origin and compulsion, if I may ask?" Andalus asked.
"My origin, as you probably have figured out, is a spar between two grand knights." Kelaris said. "And I was raised by the same two. My compulsion, however, is something different."
>>
>>23129708
boop him on the nose

>>23129732
Who?

please continue, if you want to share this with us of course.

To be fair Andalus, this prophecy is quite simple, it tells us exactly what to do, only not who with. It tells us what questions we should be asking, which is a great step up from ignorance.

It would have been a hard childhood, with grand knights for parents.
>>
>>23129756
the apparently emotionless one

"To be fair, Andalus, this prophecy is quite simple." You say. "It tells us exactly what to do, only not who with. It tells us what questions we should be asking, which is a great step up from ignorance."
"Ah, yes." He said. "You do bring up a good point."

You reach up, and push your finger against Kelaris's nose, and he chuckled, shaking his head.
"Sorry. My compulsion is swordsmanship." He said. "Obviously."
"It would have been a hard childhood, with grand knights for parents."
"Elves don't have childhoods, truly, but yes." He said. "It was rather hard. I sometimes prefer being Kale, at times, but... I'm glad to have known them."
>>
>>23129870
"Would you care to tell us about them?"
>>
>>23129870
and I'm glad to have known Kelaris.

and at times I prefer kale too.
>>
>>23129870
Do grand knights get any memorials? Maybe we should pay them a visit.
>>
"Would you care to tell us about them?" you ask, and Kelaris shook his head.
"They were people... very close to me." He said. "I'd like not to... speak about them right now, if that's okay."
"It's fine." Tannis said, and gave him a hug. "Wait as long as you need."

"we understand, thank you."
i think we should turn our attention to Cass.

>Goodnight

>>23130117
So what can we expect in Vigil? Aside from more lovely swamp views?
>>
>>23130164
I think that just goes to show how good of a writer he is, really. That even he can get bothered by the way his own characters are acting and how much emotional attachment we have, sometimes.
>>
>>23130164
>I was tempted to actually end today early because of it.

"We understand, thank you." You say, and putting your hand on his shoulder for a bit, before turning to Andalus again.
"So what can we expect in Vigil?" You ask. "Aside from more lovely swamp views?"
"Well," He said. "'Tis actually very beautiful from the inside. Covered in books and towers... 'Tis ancient, impossibly so."

Soon enough, the meal was eaten, and everyone had gotten to their feet. Cass wasn't as disturbed as you'd thought she'd be, but Ariana...

Walking behind everyone else, Ariana's talons dragged on the ground, her head hanging.
>>
>>23130350
Go be with Ariana. Put a hand on her shoulder and just walk.
>>
>>23130350
Drop back.

"You okay, Ari?"
>>
You slow down, and make your way back to Ariana, putting your hand on her familiar's shoulder, and she looked up to you.
"You okay, Ari?" You ask, quietly.
"No." She responded, just as quietly. "No I'm not."
She closed her eyes.
"The world is a hard, hard place to be." She said, quietly.
>>
>>23130435
"...It is."
>>
>>23130435
"True. But if you work at it a little, you can find the parts that make it worth living.
Hannah was insane, and wanted to die. She wasn't even willing to try to find a silver lining. But she's with the elements now."
>>
>>23130435
We can only do our best to get by, and make it better where we can.
>>
>>23130435
"Life is like digging a hole. There's a lot of dirt and grime and it's not easy work. Not at all. But, with enough digging, you find the precious things that make it worthwhile to keep digging."
>>
"... It is." You say. "But if you work at it a little, you can find the parts that make it worth living."
She nodded.
"Hannah was insane, and wanted to die. She wasn't even willing to try to find a silver lining. But she's with the elements now."
"She is." She said, and the two of you climbed into the wagon.

Out at the very back, standing near the road, was Stirge, kneeling near a small mound of dirt and a cross. She was there for a long, long time, a hand placed at the top of the cross, and then she suddenly flickered out of existence.

More time passed, as you entered the marsh and passed onto the constructed road, rolling along, water and plenty of brush by each side of the wagon.
"We should be able to ride all the way there." Andalus said.
"Last time I came here, the road stopped at the edge of the marsh." Kelaris said.
"Time, like all things, passes." Andalus said. "The road was constructed in my childhood."
He sat back, and pulled out his crossbow, fiddling with it. It was enormous, and you saw that it actually seemed to have three different strings and bows, as well as plenty of gears around the structure, and what looked like orichalicum gleaming in the back.
>>
>>23130681
"So how does that work?"
>>
>>23130681
"Might I ask what that does?"

"Perhaps we can trade secrets, if you wish."
>>
>>23130681
Expecting trouble? More ghouls?

Can I have a look at your crossbow?
>>
>>23130681
Say, you don't know of a clumsy blacksmith back in Skiitaris, do you?
>>
"So how does that work?" You ask.
"Oh, it's simple." He said, and pulled the bolt out of the top. He flipped some switch near the base, and pulled the trigger. One of the three strings snapped forward, and the gears started turning, pulling it back.
"Simple as that." He said, and started repeatedly pulling the trigger, each string snapping forward, then slowly winding back, pulling it taut again. By the time the other two were fired, the first was pulled all the way back again- technically turning the crossbow into a semi-automatic one.
"It's designed to allow me to send quite a few bolts at the enemy. I have a copy of it for when I do the Gauntlet- I plan on leaving it in the armory. It's large and heavy enough to deal with Forged, if I hit them right."
"Expecting trouble? More ghouls?"
"This marsh doesn't have any ghouls in it." He said, waving his hand. "It's ghoul-free. I'm just making sure it still works, just in case."
"Say, you don't know of a clumsy blacksmith back in Skiitaris, do you?"
"There's just the one." He said. "And he's rather rude."
>>
>>23130820
Oh, I met another. He lent me his forge when he burnt his hand.
>>
>>23130820
"I did something similar. Left one of my guns in the armory after doing the gauntlet."
>>
>>23130820
"Would you like to see mine?"
>>
"I did something similar." You say. "Left one of my guns in the armory after doing the gauntlet."
"Gun?" He asked.
"Would you like to see mine?" You ask, holding up one of your guns.
"This is one of those weapons that the fairy girl was using." He said. "How does it work?"
>>
>>23130917
Give him the technical description of how gunpowder ignites.
>>
>>23130917
"Chemistry. I don't really have ammo to spare right now, but these things could kill a fully armored templar in one shot."
>>
>>23130917
"There's a small explosive charge packed into a confined space within the barrel. The hammer strikes the primer when pulled and ignites the charge, accelerating a piece of metal, which is guided by the barrel."
>>
>>23130917
>Did we replace the firing pin on the Colt?
>>
>>23130942
This.
>>
>>23130962
>Not yet, but you can.

"Alchemy." You say. "I don't really have ammo to spare right now, but these things could kill a fully armored templar in one shot."
"Interesting." He said.
"There's a small explosive charge packed into a confined space within the barrel." you say. "The hammer strikes the primer when pulled, and ignites the charge."
"So it explodes, and...
"Accelerating a piece of metal, which is guided by the barrel."
"So you'd need some truly strong metal for the barrel." He said, eyebrow raised. "This is genius! Truly genius! We could crush the forged if I could get a design for these and get them mass produced."
>>
>>23130962
you know...I was wondering the same thing, cause I don't remember if we did or not...

also, it might have been a percussion cap. in a revolver the 'pin' is part of the hammer...

and if we didn't do it, who did?
>>
>>23130992
I'd rather you didn't. They aren't weapons for this time.
>>
>>23130992
"No can do, I'm afraid. Massed produced, these are almost worse than the forged. Imagine armies of people going up against each other with these."
>>
>>23130992
"It would take a while but I could come up with a few designs and you could get the parts manufactured en masse. Arm a few soldiers with the preliminary versions and they'd be formidable."
>>
>>23130992
"You'll have to forgive my hesitation, considering Skiitara's past."
>>
>>23131048
formidable enough for Skiitara to take over the world. Again.
How about no.
>>
>>23130992
My attempt at making them without magic is in the armoury. It didn't work out quite so nicely.
>>
>>23130992
"Now imagine that same army armed with these, turning on the rest of the world.

This isn't just another weapon. This would change the face of warfare. All but the heaviest steel plate would become useless, melee weapons would fall out of favor, and any idiot with a finger and an eye could kill anyone else with minimal effort.

Imagine the death toll."
>>
"No can do, I'm afraid." You say. "Mass produced, these are almost worse than the forged. Imagine armies of people going up against each other with these."
He thought about it for a moment, and then nodded.
"'Tis a good point." He said. "These things would be disasterous in the wrong hands. Mass-producing is a bad idea."
He sighed... and then Kelaris called out.
"We've arrived at Vigil." Kelaris said. Everyone looked out the front of the wagon, and saw what looked like a keep, along with a tall, tall tower, and a great crescent lake surrounding the west side of the keep. Two guards stood on either side of the doorway into the keep proper, and the stables sat on the east side.
>>
>>23131129
"After you, m'lord."
>>
>>23131129
"It is probably best if you are to go first, Princeps."
>>
"It's probably best if you are to go first, Princeps."
"Oh, yes, probably." He said, and swung out of the wagon, slinging his crossbow on his back.
"Princeps Andalus, my name is." Andalus said. "And I, and my companions, seek entrance to Vigil."
"Granted." one of the guards say, and pulls the door open. you and your companions walk in- but then the other guard spoke up.

"... Sandy?" The second guard asked.
There was a pause as Cass dropped her spear entirely, eyes wide.

"Cass, are you okay?" The guard asked again. She responded by pulling him into a tight hug, her arms thickening with troll strength as she whirled him about, before taking off his helmet. You saw a burly, young man, his nose almost entirely gone, knotted scars running up and down his face- it looked like a ghoul had gnawn on his face for some time, but you could still see the grin in his bright green, almost shining eyes.
"Thor..." She said, pulling him close, her tail thrashing.

What this gent said. Best to power on through the uncomfortable moments in a quest and that's what you did exactly without sacrificing quality.

Oh you sons of bitches, I'm butthurt now about how Exa completely ignored the fact that we've been together with Cass and suddenly cheated on her, she even KNEW!
