Your name is Kylan Arvus and you're watching two aliens debating how to put your mangled body back together.

“Well then,” Fargos says. “At least I know it’s male. Wait, is that the one that produces sperm in humans?”
“Yes, Fargos, that’s the one that produces sperm.” Jorcos says in a deadpan tone.
“Well, it’s not my fault we have so little information on the humans. I COULD do a full DNA sequencing and annotation but…” He trails off.
“That would take far too long. The Board wants him up and mobile in 12 hours.“ Jorcos places his hand on his chin, thinking for a moment. “Do a quick scan to determine genetic history then use a template from one of the other species. Vulcan or Asari will probably be fine. We just need the human awake and healthy.”
Fargos raises his hands and cracks his knuckles as he strides over to a console set into the base of your tank. He starts mumbling to himself. “Shouldn’t take too long, maybe a few hours. I’ll just get started on the history. Hmmm, let’s see, minor genetic enhancements. Crude, but effective. I can smooth those over with no problem. Ah, what have we here? Markers indicate subject was born on a…

You were the new kid in the hab. This wasn't all that surprising considering your parents' jobs had you moving around a lot. This time you were on Apophis IV, a hollowed out asteroid city that orbited Earth.

It was recess. You were eleven cycles old. And a bully by the name of Ricky Huxley had just punched you in the face. You were looking at the ceiling, wondering why there were stars circling your head when it was a bright sunny day being simulated.

You picked yourself up, rubbing your sore cheek. It was definitely going to bruise, you had thought.

"You gonna fight, spacer?" Ricky had jeered. "I'm waiting."

He was a burly kid, probably born planetside. He stood in a boxer's stance, two fists up, shifting from foot to foot. Around you, more kids were gathering to watch the fight.

His left foot lashed out and caught you in the side. You swore you heard and felt a rib or two crack. His other foot caught you in the mouth, knocking a few teeth loose and dazing you again.

You felt a pressure on your chest and looked up to see Ricky sitting there, fists raised to beat the ever-loving shit out of you.

You suddenly feel something in the back of your mind, a pulsing sensation that was reaching a crescendo.

The pulse reached its peak, and suddenly Ricky was being fried by lightning emanating from your body. The screaming started shortly after that but you were way too tired to care. You passed out. After that, the men in black suits showed up at your home to take you to the "Ascension Program." Apparently they would teach you to control your psychic abilities and train your to use them more efficiently. Your mother had been saddened by your leaving but accepted it as necessary. Your father had protested but had been silenced by the threat of a lawsuit considering the fact you had actually crippled Ricky.

You had packed your stuff and left with the men that very day. That was the last time you ever saw your parents. You arrived at the Ascension program, received your combat boosters, and began training.

"a simple neurotoxin?"

You remember that mission, your first out of the Academy. You dropped into a hotzone with a full platoon of marines. Your objective? To kill or capture a single Yautja. Half of your squad was killed in the first ten minutes. The Pred ambushed them and ripped them a part with its bare hands before salvaging their weapons for its own use. Not to say that it didn't have any weapons of its own. A single grenade filled with the most deadly neurotoxin known to sentients. Somehow, you had survived but with strange side effects. You couldn't taste bitter things, smell certain scents, or tell the difference between dark red and black anymore. Your fingers twitched at times and on occasion, it felt like ants were crawling across your skin.

"Well then." You hear Fargos say. "I've set the tank to repair his torso. I'm going to do a little research then choose another species to base his structure on."

He moved away from your tank, leaving the console open, and walked to the door. Jorcos nodded then followed him

You were alone.

The console closes up. And the liquid inside the tank with your body appears to to be moving.

A large holo-display pops up flashing the words "WARNING: UNSTABLE CONFIGURATION." The door behind you hisses open and you hear the drumming of feet on the floor as the two Sophons run in.

"What in the name of Hersen is going on!?" Jorcos yells. "Fargos, stop this!"

Fargos rushes to the console and attempts to assess the situation.

"I don't know what happened but it looks like the computer is injecting several strands of genetic material from different species directly into the subject! This is bad, very bad!"

"How do we stop this?!"

"We can't! We can only hope..."

You feel something tugging on you and suddenly, you are yanked back into your body and into a maelstrom of pain and confusion. You mercifully black out...

>Hmmm, you guys are lucky. Very lucky.

You regain consciousness very abruptly. One minute, you're floating in a sea of darkness, the next, you're staring at the curving white ceiling of a Sophon hospital. You raise your head, and yes, you do have a head, and look a round. The walls seem to continue the theme of blue and white that seems to be the purview of the Sophons. Several instruments hum softly around your bed and a door at the other end of the room appears to be locked.

You look down at your body and find yourself wearing a simple white hospital gown. Your feet stick out at the bottom. You blink. Your WHITE feet. Your ABSURDLY WHITE feet. So white as to be completely colorless.

Your raise your hands and examine them. While being completely white they also appear to be absolutely devoid of blemishes or marks of any kind. You recall several scars on your hands from psifeedback but they aren't there.

It's at this point you realize that there are no actual forms of illumination in the room. It's almost pitch black but you can see details just fine.

The door opens, and the light shining through blinds you for a moment stabbing bright sparks of pain through your eyes. Suddenly the light evens out, and your eyes no longer hurt. You blink, surprised at how fast you adjusted.

"So, how are you feeling?" a calm voice asks.

You look up at the helmeted face of Jorcos.

"I'm fine but confused. Very confused." You rasp. You pause, normally your voice would be rather clear, but now it sounds like you've been smoking for years. But considering

Jorcos nods. "That's to be expected, considering what you went through."

"How did you recover me?" You query.

"One of our probes detected a massive energy spike near an outpost that belongs to us. We sent a ship to investigate and found your body in the midst of a positronic lightning field. The field took half a year to subside and we only managed to recover you then."

You look down at your hands again. "What happened to me?"

Jorcos shifts on his feet. He looks almost uncomfortable. "While we were healing you, there was a bit of a malfunction in our medical bay. We ended up combining your DNA with several other species. The result is you."

You remember your old face. Slightly tanned, well formed, slightly attractive, slightly crooked nose from that fight as a kid, brown hair, brown, eyes and a few scars from your tours with the Marines. It wasn't anything special.

But your current face makes that face look absolutely forgettable. You are pale. Pale as snow. Even your hair, which has grown out a bit, is completely white.

Your irises are a bright almost glowing blue and slitted to boot. Your face retains the same basic structure except perhaps perhaps a bit more gaunt about the cheeks. You open your mouth to find elongated canines and sharper molars. Your tongue appears to have not changed.

You look up at Jorcos and croak out, "Give me the rundown, what am I? I sound like a Krogan, but I'm far too pale and not armored at all."

Jorcos shifts on his feet again. You're beginning to associate the gesture with discomfort.
"It would appear that several different species contributed to your current make-up. Your vocal cords are very similar in structure to those of the Sangheili and your coloring is actually what we Sophons have, except for the fact we are hairless. Your digestive system is similar to that of a Trandoshan, except not limited to their diet. Krogan do appear to have contributed to your genes though, specifically in the areas concerning your nervous system. To be specific, you have two. We picked up traces of Zabrak and Quarian as well. As a result, there are some unfortunate side effects."

He pauses before continuing. "You are no longer capable of breeding as your testes have stopped the production of sperm. We believe this is more a side effect of the Krogan Genophage than anything. Your immune system has also weakened significantly, but we supplanted that problem by installing a nanite factory in your chest. The nanites should keep your free of any infection and boost your recovery rate as well. There may be more problems but we aren't sure. We're sorry."

You sigh for a moment before muttering "Jeez. That's what I get for messing around in Astral Form."

Jorcos turns his head to regard you again. The lights over his eyes dim and brighten quickly giving you the impression he's blinking. "Sorry, what was that?"

You grin sheepishly, "I did that myself actually. Astral Projection and all that. I saw you talking with the other fellow in front of my tube. I didn't want to be hybridized with some Alien DNA, so I tried to make my intentions clear to you."

Jorcos stares at you for a minute before he covers the front of his helmet with his hands and shakes his head.

"The irony of this situation is hilarious." You hear him mumble.

>What do you do now?
>>
Actually, I'd assume we're sterile because we haphazardly slammed ten different genomes together. The Genophage causes stillbirths, not sterility.

Oh well, our new quest is to amp up our psipowers enough to induce pregnancy via MIND RAYS.

"C'est la vie." You say. "But anyway, can I get some sunglasses, or something? My eyes seem really sensitive to light."

Jorcos nods, pushes a few buttons on his arms and suddenly a pair of aviators form in his hands. He hands them to you and you put them on, sighing in relief as the pain in your eyes completely recedes.

"Well what now?" You ask. "Where do I go? I'd like to test myself physically and work through any other kinks with the new body and all."

Jorcos raises a hand, "We'll definitely get to that, but I'm afraid that we'll have to postpone it for the moment. Our Board of Directors wishes to speak with you concerning the circumstances we found you under. Namely, the fact that you were in the middle of a Psionic storm surrounded by a dead Icorani Hive."

You hold up your hand. "Two things. How have my psionic abilities been affected by this change and How will this affect my lifespan?"

Jorcos brings up another holoscreen on his wrist comouter. "Your psionics appear to be unaffected by your new genome, judging from our scans of your Prefrontal cortex. As for your life span, well, who can say? The nanite supplements should keep you free from disease but the rest is completely unknown. Will you see the Board now?"

>What do you do?
>Sorry about that, my hands froze.

"I suppose I have no choice in the matter. Thank you though, lead the way." You rasp.

Jorcos raises his hands in a forestalling gesture, "Please Mr. Arvus. We may be rather cold when dealing with other races but we are not unreasonable. If you do not want to see the Board then you do not have to. Of course, then we would require you to pay for the medical services we rendered. Let me assure you, it was not cheap."

You nod and get up and out of the bed you place your feet on the floor, grimacing slightly as the cold pervades your legs. Standing up, you realize you aren't unsteady in the slightest despite the fact that these legs are not your original ones.

"Would you like a change of coverings?" Jorcos asks. "We can synthesize whatever you need.

You quickly outline the basics of your outfit and Jorcos inputs the commands into his wrist computer. There's a flash of light and suddenly, he's holding a black, fur-lined, bomber jacket and a pair of jeans. You frown for a second, realizing something then make another request. A flash of light, and he's holding a Federation Marine Corps t-shirt. Grinning you dress yourself and look at youself in the body-sized mirror Jorcos is projecting from his wrist. In a word, you look pretty badass.

Another thought pops into your head, "Synth me up some whiskey, my shiny-headed friend."

Jorcos tilts his head, "What exactly is whiskey?"

After taking a minute or two to explain exactly what whiskey is, you manage to persuade him to synthesize some. Another flash of light, and you're tossing back a shot of liquid gold.

Feeling the liquid burn your throat as it goes down, you turn to Jorcos, ready to meet the Board.

>Stopping for now, may pick it up again in a few hours.

It was more metaphorical with the type of mentality Marines and ex-marines carry, that once a marine always a marine. If we're interpreting this literally, then we can say that at this present state, they'd probably re-evaluate him to see if he's fit for active service/not compromised. And even that's a stretch, but hey. The military may have uses for a human-alien hybrid as an infiltrator or an envoy.
