Hey, /tg/. I'm sorry I'm late. It's been a strange week for me, and Tomorrow's going to be hectic, too. Oh boy.

>Last time on Digimon Quest, we learned a good deal about our situation, but at the same time, what we learned can best be categorized as "vague."
>Or "Unreliable."
>We crashed at Zoe's place, Sally flirted with us, and we left Zoe and Liollmon to bond. Not necessarily in that order.

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Digimon%20Quest

With Sally asleep, I shut the door behind me, and lean on the wooden frame.

For every question she answered, a new one was brought up.

The Gods remain a mystery, as does the true purpose of the Digivice, and the Gate remains as elusive as ever.

What should I do?

My laptop is downstairs, but so are Zoe and Liollmon. Sally's up here with me, though she's currently asleep.

Dad's gone, thankfully, and Zoe's parents aren't expected back any time soon. They might call, though, so we'll have to be on the lookout for that.

There might be other things I haven't thought of just yet...

Go see Zoe. Listen in on the door before going in though. We might not want to interrupt her and Liollmon.
>>
>>23284820
i support this.
>>
Perhaps I ought to talk with Zoe. It's been a while since we actually talked, and I'm finding myself wondering how her talk with liollmon went.

I head downstairs slowly, listening for any conversation.

I can hear them talking, and Liollmon's voice seems to be raised slightly more than Zoe's.

Inching closer, I can begin to discern certain words in their conversation. One of which is my name, and is brought up several times, whereas Sally's isn't.

Should I see if they're alright, or leave them to their talk?

Just caught up to this quest last thread, love it so far.
>>
I'm not sure why, but I find the urge to stay there and listen in irresistible.

I creep closer, but their conversation has quieted down some.

I can still hear snippets, involving Liollmon- who is named Aslan, now, apparently- and Zoe herself.

Huh. I knew Zoe liked to read, but something like C.S. Lewis?

I'm not one to talk, though. I named Sally after one of her forms. That alone is just...cheesy. Not that she cared. And if her joy was anything to go by, Liollmon probably loves his name just as much.

Probably shows it less, though.

Edging closer, I catcha bit of their conversation...

"-bout this 'Sally!' How can we trust her? She's obviously dangerous, and her only loyalty is-"

"To Wayne." Zoe cuts him off. "And Wayne is my friend. I...may not be happy with Sally, with how close she is to him, but...He's my friend. And I know he'd never turn on us."

The Liollmon growls his frustration.

"Zoe, your blind trust in others, while admirable, is not going to be a boon of any sort when things become serious."

I can't see their faces, but I can hear Zoe's frown from the way she speaks.

"Aslan, there's nothing wrong with trusting one's friends."

"There is when they could be a threat."

"If they were, don't you think they'd have tried to hurt us when you...digivolved? Sally's stronger than you, right?"

All I can hear is his grumbling, but I'm not sure I want to listen in more.

>>
You might as well knock at this point.
>>
Taking a deep breath, and waiting a bit, I head over to the door, and knock. I hear a brief scrambling, and a small cry of surprise from Zoe, and the door opens.

"Wayne?" Zoe's standing there, blinking. I can see that the lighting's somewhat different between the two rooms- the hall is darker, but mostly she's blinking in surprise.

"Um, yeah. Just wanted to check in on you two. See how things were going between you." I say, noting my hands were fidgeting. I jame them into my pockets, and notice Asla- Liollmon, standing behind Zoe, his large eyes narrowed in my direction.

I sigh. I had been expecting something like this, really, ever since Sally told me about the digimon's apparent need to defend their partner, but actually experiencing his distrust isn't pleasant.

"So..." Zoe says, drawing my attention back to her. "How did your talk with Sally go?" Her tone of voice is a tiny bit forced, like she's more interested in what I think than what Sally had to do with it. I really don't know what her problem with my partner is, but if she's not going to bring it up, then I'm not going to. either.

"It went well, I think. Sally's very..." I stop to think of a proper word. "...Eager."
>>
>>23292688

Zoe's eyebrow twitches, and she seems to wince slightly.

"Is she?" Taking a second look at Zoe, I can see that twitch hasn't faded.

"Um, Zoe? Are you alright? You're not having another relapse, are you?"

She looks at me, confused, but when I tell her she was twitching a bit, she blushes and waves me off, saying it was nothing.

"So, Sally's been... Forthcoming, has she?" Zoe asks, and I nod, smiling sheepishly.

"She told me as much as- or, a lot of, what she knew, but understanding it all was the hardest bit. I mean, apparently we're mixed up with some really crazy stuff. Parallel worlds, Gods, monsters...it's kind of hard to take in, you know?" She nods, an understanding look on her face.

"I know exactly what you mean. Aslan- Oh, that's this guy," She waves to the lion digimon, who huffs proudly, thrusting out his chest in what I assume was meant to be a regal pose, "He's told me some things, but mostly, I find it all sort of...hard to believe." Her eyes gain a far-off look, "Like a dream, almost."

"True, it does seem fantastical. But, on the other hand, If it is a dream, Why not find out how far down the rabbit hole really goes? And if it isn't a dream, then we have the chance for a unique experience. An Adventure, if you will."

"What I have ascertained thus far, is that we have been chosen, for an as-yet unknown reason, to preform an as-yet unknown task in a as-yet unknown dimension called 'The Digital World'. As a symbol of our potential, we have been gifted with 'Digivices' with which to further our bond with our 'Digimon Partners'."

"either way, A path has appeared before us. I am going to follow it, for now; But what about you? Will you join me on this Adventure or to Stay here and enjoy the company of you new friend, Aslan? Or maybe, you are still uncertain in your decision and need more time to think."

"Yeah, I suppose it's a bit unreal, but if it is a dream, why not see how far down the rabbit hole goes? And if it isn't a dream," I place one of my

heads over her shoulder, and pinch lightly. She smacks my hand, an annoyed look on her face. I chuckle to myself, and continue speaking. "If it isn't a

dream, then we've got a chance to go on an adventure, don't we?"

Zoe still looks a bit uncertain.

"What I've figured out so far, with Sally's help," I continue, ignoring the way her expression darkens slightly at the mention of the witch upstairs.

"That we've been chosen- for a reason we don't know, exactly- to perform an unknown task in an unknown world called the 'Digital world.' As a symbol of

our...potential? We've been given these 'Digivices,' that can strengthen out bond with our 'Digimon Partners.'"

Zoe nods, having more or less learned this from Aslan, I figure, but summing it up never hurts.

"So what I see here is a choice. A path. I'm going to take that path, Zoe. For now, anyway. But what about you?" She blinks, then looks away, her unsure

expression growing more pronounced by the second. "Will you stay here, with your new friend? Or will you come with me?"

She doesn't answer, instead just looking past me, her eyes distant, thoughtful. I sigh, and pull her into a small hug, patting her reassuringly.

"Don't worry, Zoe. You don't have to figure out what to do right away. We have time, and you won't be alone no matter what you do, either way."

She nods, still deep in thought, apparently, and-mindful of Aslan, who's been watching me like an angry hawk this entire time- I let go, giving them their space once more. zoe seems like she needs it, and three's a crowd.
>>
>>23294327
With an exasperated sigh, I glance in Sally's general direction. I can't hear any noises coming from upstairs, but then again, she can fly, so it's not like she'd make that much noise moving around anyway.

I suppose I could check up on her, or the laptop. Then again, there might be something else I missed...

>Laptop is three for three

I walk over to one of the bags my dad brought over, and unzip it. Yeah, there's all my stuff that I packed, and the laptop's underneath it. Fishing the computer out, I pull out the charging cable as well, and head back upstairs. Better to do this where I won't bother the other two.

Once up in the room that I'll apparently be sharing with Sally, I close the door once more, taking a look around. Nothing's changed, and Sally's still fast asleep.

I plug the computer into the wall for a few minutes to give it time to charge up. While I'm waiting for the thing to boot, I find myself stealing a glance at Sally again. She's still there, asleep, but her position's changed since I was there. Before, she was on her back, but now she's rolled onto her side. At some point, her hat fell off, and now her hair is slightly mussed. I can hear her breathing softly and steadily in the quiet room, and suddenly, I'm struck by a rather mean idea.

Finding the impulse hard to control, I stand from where I had set the laptop up, and slowly creep over to the bed. Standing over her, I reach out with one hand, and...

Poke her in the side. She doesn't wake, but does stir, shifting positions unconsciously. Not quite sure what I had been expecting, I head back to the laptop, intending to check on the DGDSTND file.

HERESY!
>>
This...nothingness worries me. The text isn't showing up, and from what I can see, the rest of the file-its name, the parameters and properties- haven't changed at all.

Picking up the computer and sitting by Sally on the bed, I take another look at the document.

Before, it had said something about being chosen, and rejoicing, and so on. Then it had said something about the "gate."

I've been able to communicate with it before, so I should be able to do so again, shouldn't I?

Taking a moment to think, I try and come up with the words I want to send to whoever is listening.

Nothing really comes to mind at first, until I notice Sally's hat, sitting where it had fallen off her head.

Reaching across her still slumbering form, I pick up the hat, taking a good look at it.

The wide brim and long, bent point are very archetypical of a witch's hat, and the cat-shaped belt buckle seems to stare at me with its hollow eyes. I'm unsure as to why the hat would need the large metal ring at the end of the tip, but I try not to question it too much.

Hesitantly, I lift the hat up and place it over my own head, lowering it slowly until it covers most of my hair.

I don't feel any different. Phantasia lied to me, and every other kid out there.

However, I do know what I want to type now, I realize, and begin doing so, typing slowly so I don't wake the digimon beside me.

"Thank you for sending Sally to me. I think we will be ready to help you soon."

I pause, then backspace, and retype:

"Tomorrow."

I wait for a while, the white glow of the computer screen the only source of illumination in the room, before trying again.

"For you to ask-" Backspace "Solicit our help, something dire must be occurring in the Digital World."

No response yet.

"What is the problem, if we are the solution?"

Nothing. Until...

{We are dying.}

If we're coming up with suggestions, well

[X] Freeze, and stare at the screen
-[X] Feel your fingers almost moving by themselves, as you send the message that has taken over your mind, demanding to be told
-[X] "We will come and save you."
-[X] After that, lean back, and look down at Sally
-[X] Reach up, grab hat and put it near your beloved partner
[X] On impulse, stroke her cheek, and then move towards your bed
-[X] SALLY: in sleep, gently grab hold of whoever hugged you, and pull closer.

>>23307154
I'd be fine with that, as well.

>>
>>23307215
We're gonna be Sally's bottom bitch eventually, so you're right...
>>
>>23307250

Eh, probably, since we're sort of aiming for Ultimate and then Mega level, but that doesn't mean she won't be awesomely kind and loving - don't think 'bottom bitch' is the proper term here; she'll likely be quite assertive, though, yeah

I still don't get why you guys are so darned focused on being Sally's "Bottom Bitch," though. I've never hinted at that once.

2 and a half episodes of tamers left, I can now see why people like it over adventure 1. I still think the first 15 episodes or so are so bloody slow. while by then adventure 1 they already had their real villain arc past them.

Still, superior story in tamers, but I loved the adventure 1 villains and their extreme genre savviness. I think it's a very close call but I think I still prefer the original.

I'm against calling up Zoe at the moment. Let's just ask our questions and if she needs to know we'll tell her our findings.

I stare at the screen for several minutes, trying to understand just what's been said.

Slowly, methodically, I type out my question.

"What needs to be done?"

The reply this time is quick, though no more helpful.

{What must always be done.}

That's just...

I sigh, and rub at my temples, the lack of sleep and the day's excitement beginning to catch up to me in the form of a burgeoning headache.

"Who is 'We'?" I ask. "The Gods my partner spoke of? The digital world as a whole?"

{T'would be a lie to confirm one and not the other.}

...shit.

I lean back slightly, looking at the ceiling in thought. And then an idea strikes me.

"Are there any others like Zoe and myself?" I ask, and again, the reply is swift.

{There have always been those who are Chosen. You are not alone.}

So there are others. Zoe and I won't be the only ones to try and save...whoever this is talking to me. I nod to myself, close the laptop, making sure to not wake Sally up, before standing and making to leave the room. Zoe needs to hear this.

However, before I can make it very far, I feel a slight tugging, a pulling sensation in the back of my mind.

And then I black out.
>>
>>23309054

When I come to, I see Sally leaning over me, an anxious expression on her face. Once she sees I'm awake, her mood seems to brighten immensely, and I notice she's wearing her hat once more.

"What...happened?" I croak out, feeling very stiff and sore, mostly from sleeping on the floor. Sally gives me a look, like a reproachfull glare and concerned frown rolled into one.

"You put on my hat." It wasn't a question, but a fact. I nod, wincing at the stiffness in my neck.

"Yeah, yeah I did. What did that have to do with-"

"My hat is also part of me, Wayne. When you put it on, I was sleeping." I blink a few times, not quite understanding what she's saying.

"Huh?"

"I was sleeping. The hat wanted to sleep. You were wearing it."

It takes a few seconds to register, but then-

"You mean you made me sleep. By accident."

She blushes slightly, and looks to the side, avoiding eye contact.

"When you put it like that, it doesn't sound like what I meant."

I laugh a bit at that, but once I remember just what it was I was going to go tell Zoe about, I can feel my own skin lose color fast.

"Sally, you remember how you said we were going to do great things?" She nods, looking slightly surprised by the change of topic.

"Yes, of course. Why?"

"Last night, I...I found out just what those things are.

The Digital World is dying."

I can see the shock slowly draining into her face, but I'm already up, wincing as a few of my joints crack, the cramps in them straightening out.

[] What should we do first?
>>
>>23308910
Even that can be kept to as minimal as possible considering the circumstances.
>>
>>23309060

>>23309060

>>23309060

>>
>>23309501
I dunno, if it is THAT early in the morning she might not be up yet.

I say we tell her during breakfast.

What we can do is try searching for "Monster Incidents" on the net and do some scouting for incidents that could been resolved by other Digidestined in the nearby area that we can recruit/join up with.
>>
>>23309558

Let's do this.. While making breakfast?

We can at least pretend he's a worthy member of the group..

And have Sally help.
>>
"We need to talk, all of us." I say, and Sally nods, now deadly serious. Grabbing the laptop, we head downstairs, only to be greeted by an empty first floor.

Bemused, I take a look at my watch, and balk at the time.

It's only five-thirty!

With a groan, I realize that, once more, I've proved them all right.

I really do wake up too early.

Setting the laptop down in the sitting room, the two of use head into the kitchen next. I'm hungry, Sally's most definitely hungry, and Zoe and Aslan are going to be hungry. Best we make something to eat before they wake up.

Once again rummaging through the pantry, I find a box of pancake mix, and eggs and bacon in the fridge.

Sally sidles up behind me, looking over my shoulder as I begin to cook the food. Amused by her hungry expression, I offer to teach her how to cook, an offer she takes up eagerly.

Soon, I'm showing her how to prepare the eggs on the skillet, then how to flip pancakes. I avoid cooking the bacon just yet, but, upon finding more eggs and some bread, decide that I'll show her how to make french toast, as well. The bacon cooks last, and soon, the smell of a hearty breakfast is filling the entire house.

Not long afterwards, Zoe and Aslan come down the stairs, drawn by the scent of delicious, delicious breakfast foods.

Zoe, still groggy, sits down at the dining table, rubbing her eyes. I get the feeling she's still half-asleep, but her partner looks wide awake. Sally practically glides into the room, several plates held in her claws, and Zoe doesn't even notice who it is that sets her plate down in front of her.

Once she begins eating, however, she perks up, savoring the taste, while Aslan simply digs in.

Setting our own plates down, the two of us sit and begin to eat as well.

Four plates of Bacon and eggs, a plate of pancakes and french toast for everyone to choose from, and several glasses of orange juice later, everyone had eaten their fill, and we were all sufficiently awake. Sitting aroung the laptop, I begin to tell Zoe and Aslan what had happened last night.
>>
>>23312261
The true reason for our partnership shakes Zoe, I can see it. This is a huge turn of events, who wouldn't take pause? Aslan, however, simply looks more resolute; I get the feeling he didn't need any more reason to protect Zoe already, and this just gives him one more.

The mention that there are other partner teams out there, though, seems to put Zoe's mind at ease, if only a bit.

This gives me an idea, though;

Zoe and I had trouble already, and there's no way that had to go undetected. If I'm right, others should have similar occurrences. And everyone knows everything strange gets put on the internet, one way or another.

opening the computer, I begin to search for strange events, specifying them happening recently, or locally.

As expected, I get a lot of results. Too many to search through one by one.

I narrow the search down, adding the word "Monster" in.

Only a couple hundred, and there, on the first page, is an article about my hometown.

"Unidentified machine causes mutliple explosions at local high school: 10 injured."

Despite my initial fear, it's not my school, but the other school, across town. Apparently, something resembling a metallic beatle showed up, and witnesses claimed it was fighting..something They couldn't identify. Once the police showed up, both disappeared. Interestingly, none of the explosions wounded anyone; all the injuries sustained were from the other creature.

mulling over this, I show the article to the others.

Zoe frowns, not particularly pleased that others were hurt, even if no one died. Sally's expression remains neutral, while Aslan growls to himself. Sighing to myself, I...

like an old worn out record, i once more advocate finishing packing our gear and preparing the supplies.
We can ask Zoe what she has decided to do now that she has slept on the decision. Is she up for Adventure, or would she rather stay here and make sure that there is in fact a place for us to return to by acting as a 'Home Guard' force against any more rogue Digimon groups.
>>
>>23312282

Let's get our asses to that high school. If we can find another one of us we can deflect some of Aslan's aggression towards them.
>>
>>23312282
That seems to be the only lead we've had so far, so we might as well pack up our stuff and set forth to investigate?
I have no idea when we'll go to this 'digital world' so we should probably keep our supplies handy.
Also have Sally and Aslan practice stealth, since we'll be investigating during the day?
