Rabaddon
Known as the Mindbreaker or the Anomaly, sometimes uses the alias of Anna Malle
Talents: Obfuscation*, Dementation, Tenebriety
Powers: Delusion (Dementation), Unnoticed (Obfuscation), Shadow Form (Tenebriety)

You've decided to use thirteen year old girl Mari as a puppet with which to bring down the Westerling Empire, otherwise known as Golgoth, because Hell, it's not like you've got anything better to do this weekend. To that end, you've attempted to track down the hunter Jens, a friend of Mari's deceased father, and thus come to the village of Deepwell, which is now about to be attacked by a Golgothan war party. When we last left off, you were trying to find a way to fuck with the Golgothan supply wagon.

Also, I should find a better OP image, probably.
>>
>>23434053
How much space is there between the floor of the wagon and the ground?
>>
How about making the driver imagine that he is being attacked by a swarm of bees in a situation where he'd crach the wagon?
>>
>>23434126
If we can somehow make things turn out in such a way it'll seem like Mari is responsible for acquiring the wagon mostly intact, it should help her immensely when it comes to this village.
>>
Leave the supply wagon. Destroying it won't help win the battle, they're not far enough away to be starved. We're basically forcing them to plunder the village, and depending on how the battle turns out, we could steal it.
>>
>>23434126

Delusion can't induce hallucinations. You can make someone expect an attack by flying bees, but you can't make them actually see one happening.

>>23434095

About two feet or so.
>>
>>23434151

So you intend to steal the wagon instead of destroying it? Seeing that the soldiers need their supplies to survive, they will try everything to get the wagon back. Destroying it in front of their eyes will crush their morale. So, destroying helps with the battle, stealing thereafter. If we try to steal it, the best chance would be during the assault, but I guess we'll have to do other things then.
>>
>>23434226
>About two feet or so.
Would it be possible to move under the wagon in shadow form, turn corporeal, damage an axle, and switch to shadow form again?
>>
>>23434299

Hypothetically, yes, if you're quick. What do you plan to damage the axle with?
>>
>>23434232
No, I don't think we could steal it before the battle. But I am worried that by destroying it, we put the soldiers in a situation where they know they need to plunder the village or starve, increasing their will to fight.
>>
Ahhh, welcome back to the darkness, OP.
>>
>>23434331
That's a very good question. Would our corporeal form be strong enough?
>>
>>23434384

Nope. You're a lot stronger than your appearance implies, but not nearly strong enough to rip up a solidly constructed wagon with two seconds of effort.
>>
>>23434411
How about five seconds?`
>>
>>23434411
Is there something like an axe in the wagon? Anything sharp to damage the axle?
>>
>>23434126
>How about making the driver imagine that he is being attacked by a swarm of bees in a situation where he'd crach the wagon?

>>23434226
>Delusion can't induce hallucinations.

What if we said the bees were invisible?
>>
>>23434458
Another question in addition to that, do we keep what we have on our corporeal form when we turn into a shadow, or do things simply fall to the ground?
>>
>>23434372

Guess you're right. We could probably cause more damage by deluding the soldiers and officers into madness, one after another. Let them fear ambushes, the ghosts of the dead, the fury of their superiors and painful death in this foreign country, and the pain that would cause in their families. We don't have to delude them for a long time, uncomfortable feelings spread quickly in a group.
>>
>>23434487
The latter, unless OP changed his mind since last thread.
>>
>>23434476

We could make him believed that somebody cursed him with delusions.
>>
>>23434487

The latter. The soldiers are carrying all their weapons themselves, but the supply wagon does have a couple of spares (maybe from the dead). They're basically all polearms, though.

>>23434476

That'd work.
>>
>>23434530
Hmm, okay. How much movement does unnoticed allow for?
>>
>>23434530

None. You need to hold perfectly still.
>>
>>23434598
Twelve seconds?
>>
>>23434697

...Twelve seconds of what?
>>
>>23434598
I have no clue how to get one of the polearms into the wheels so that a few spokes would break and the wheel would have to be changed.

Seems like this idea is going nowhere, guess we'll have to do one of the other suggestions.
>>
I'm new, how long do our powers last? Are they constant once activated?
>>
>>23434796

Powers in the Obfuscation Talent are constant once activated and require basically no effort to turn on, but are hindered by the inability to move once using them.

Powers in the Dementation Talent require a small amount of effort to activate. It's trivially easy to maintain one, but gets much harder to maintain two or more, so you can't keep up multiple Dementation effects for very long.

Tenebriety powers require a small amount of effort to turn on but no effort to maintain.
>>
>>23434868
What is on the wagon? How well can we hide on the wagon, is it open or does it have a roof?
>>
>>23435028

It is open, but there's a tarp on it that they can drag over it to cover the goods in the event of rain. Supplies are on the wagon: hard tack, gruel, dried fruit, stuff that doesn't go bad. Also some spare weapons and armor, probably taken from fallen soldiers.
>>
Does the wagon have a driver? Could we murder him with a weapon from the wagon, go back in shadow and run the fuck off?
Should scare the crap out of them.
>>
>>23435279
Bonus points if we make it look like a very, very, very unlikely accident.
>>
What would happen if we used Dementation twice on him? 1) "You are a hidden traitor." 2) "Destroying the wagon in a way that makes it look like an accident would do the most harm."
>>
>>23435279

The wagon does indeed have a driver, and a sneak-murder-stab should do him in well enough. These Golgothans aren't very heavily armored so one good thrust should do the job.
>>
>>23435446

It would be exactly as exhausting as putting two Delusions on two different people. Doable, but pushing things a bit.
>>
>>23435293
Of course, the exact opposite is also an option. We can turn into a shadow, we don't HAVE to avoid detection. Attracting it may be just as good. Think about it, you're marching along, suddenly one of your guys collapses with a halberd or some shit through his skull, you inspect and what do you find? The shadow of a child making rude gestures at you, and wait what where you doing here again? Oh right, hunting "cursed children". Scary!
>>
>>23435473
This might attract to much attention from higher ups if someone manages to survive.

How about we manifest hidden, take a spear when no-one is looking and immediately use obfuscation again, tell him "The way goes left here." to make him crash against a tree and time our attack to make it seem as if he was killed in a freak accident when a weapon came loose upon crashing.
We could be seen for a moment but the risk should be small.
>>
>>23435601
Oooh, I like that.
>>
>>23435613
Thank you. Bonus: The cart is not fast enough for the spear to actually get the momentum needed to kill him. It's both mundane and spooky!
>>
>>23435473
sounds like a good idea, but i prefer
>>23435446
Guess its time to decide if we want to archieve something today.
>>
>>23435663
The problem here is that delusions can't cause hallucinations. To make him crash we may want to use >>23435446
>>
>>23435601
Eh, don't see what you're afraid of, soldiers tell stories. I'm fine with your idea too, though, so long as we get to kill him. Been too long!
>>
>>23435601

Delusion. Cannot. Induce. Hallucinations.
>>
>>23435803
I didn't think that through. He would just think the path has been overgrown and stop...

Could we tell him the road is invisible but there? Using three talents at the same time would strain us but it would only need to last for a few seconds.

>>23435762
I made both of those plans and like both of them. However I prefer the second one because it is most likely faster. I don't want to take hours using two delusions while also staying hidden. It would most likely tire us out quite a lot.
>>
>>23435803
You should probably add a description of our powers in future OPs. This keeps happening.

Also, KILL KILL KILL!
>>
>>23435862
>three talents
You know what I mean...

>>23435866
This would not have changed anything. I already know how it works I just didn't think of it for a few minutes.
>>
>>23435862

He can still see the road, so the immediate result of this will just be "huh, I had thought the road was overgrown here. Guess not."
>>
>>23435929
Twenty-four seconds?
>>
>>23436072

I have no idea what you are asking.
>>
I still have ideas to make this work but they would all require too many Dementions.

How much would >>23435446 tire us? This might take a few hours or more. I'm not sure if we really want to wait that long. It might be better to us 1) with a suitable second delusion on someone else. Someone in position to kill important people for example.
Have them slowly kill each other. When it becomes obvious someone is a traitor, delude the leader into thinking a small group of people did it and have them executed.
>>
>>23436144
But how many are in a position to kill someone important in the middle of a marching army and how likely are they to do it even if we convince them they're a traitor?
>>
>>23436144

It depends on how long it takes him to act on the delusions. If he acts on them instantly and you only have to maintain them for five minutes, you'll be winded, but fine. If you try to maintain both delusions for hours while he waits for the perfect opportunity, you'll black out from exhaustion.
>>
I'd like to point out that I'm leaving in two hours and it would be nice if we could arrive at a decision and actually do something before then. The result of "kill a dude and ruin some supplies" is really not worth the amount of time we've already sunk into trying to figure out how to accomplish it.
>>
>>23436325
I feared that was the case. Unless he decides to immediately crash the wagon (or something similar) he will most likely wait until they rest and try to sabotage it when no one is looking. We need to make sure he act quickly.

Next idea: 1) You are a traitor. 2) Driving this wagon against a tree will neither harm you nor be suspicious.
>>
>>23436436
Does this still involve stabbing him? We need to stab something.
>>
>>23436374
I agree. If we don't find a good way soon we should just tell someone he needs to go pee and kill him as soon as he is out of sight. Keep this up until they only leave in groups then return to the kids.
>>
>>23436478
How do we easily kill someone if we can't carry a weapon in shadow form?
>>
Okay, just roll dice for a decision and we'll go with highest roll. This has taken way too long already.
>>
There are three options I think would work. Please vote.
>>23435279 Just stab him and run away
>>23436436 Make him want to destroy the wagon, maybe stab him.
>>23436478 Lure someone away, turn solid behind them and use your (for a human) extremely good combat-skills. Bonus if you silently manifest directly behind them and use their own weapons.
>>

>>23436630
I vote trying the second one for a short time. After that try the third one for as long as you can regardless of whether it worked.

>>23436620
Make him need to destroy the entire supply silently because there is poison in it, he cant prove it and if the officers find out it was him they will kill him.
>>
>>23436697
I like how the highest roll goes to the one new option after hours of talking. (Unless of course both rolls for >>23436436 are counted together)
>>
If I was a less cheerful person, I think I'd find it depressing. I hope OP isn't too mad at us for wasting his time, I kinda like him.
>>
>>23436723
Yeah, that's how i roll.
Like in Harry Potter quest where i rolled for the trait Lucky.
>>
Rolled 43

>>23436798

Okay that should work with only one delusion and he can still be backstabbed after crashing the wagon.
>>
>>23436697

You creep up on the driver in shadow form. "The officers have poisoned the supplies," you whisper as quietly as you can into his ear, "if you don't destroy them, the entire army will be poisoned."

Then you settle in to wait. A few hours later, not far from Deepwell now, the captain sends out two dozen mounted soldiers to Deepwell, presumably to collect the Blood Guard, or see what's happened to them. While they wait for their return, he calls a temporary halt.

>Stick with army to see if driver takes his chance? Follow riders to see what happens? Some third option?

Note: Someone needs to be in speaking distance for you to *start* a Delusion, but you can maintain them from any distance.
>>
>>23436915
Follow the riders, maintain the delusion though.
>>
>>23437005
Agreed. Two dozen riders can cause serious harm to the village.
>>
>>23436915
This guy probably hasn't a clue how to pull it off. We should have stabbed him, but it'd be such a waste now, he might still actually do something. Follow the riders if we can. How fast are they going, how fast can we go?
>>
What time is it now? Is it already evening?
>>
>>23437050
He will hopefully burn it all and claim he don't know what happened. Or quietly sneak of into the woods with the wagon
>>
>>23437098
Yea. Hopefully. But now I'm imagining that OP is parodying our indecisiveness via this guy and it amuses me.
>>
>>23437073

Not yet, but it's getting close.

----

>>23437005

You follow the riders. They're not in a full gallop but they are mounted, so it takes some effort to keep up. Nevertheless, you're still feeling pretty much fine when you arrive.

"Don't come any closer!" shouts a man from Deepwell's watchtower as the riders approach, "one step further and we'll put shafts in the lot of you!" There's five archers up in the tower, enough that it's getting a bit crowded. The horsemen down below have bows of their own, and much better ones from the look of them, but nevertheless they don't draw any nearer.

"We're here to collect our men," the lieutenant leading the riders says, "send out our Blood Guards to meet us and we'll not trouble you any further."

"Your bloody bastards have left already," the watchtower guard says, "where they've ended up is your problem now!"

The riders look to each other, and then draw up their horses to meet. You can overhear them from your hiding spot nearby (hiding spots are abundant when you are a shadow). "They're far more aggressive now than they were before," one of them says, "I don't like it."

"Perhaps they've heard about the battle at that other village," another says, "and they think they've better odds now that we've lost some men."

"They might be right," says the lieutenant, "we've taken more losses than I like with that village, and if this one is as vicious as the last, we might not have the men to take it by force."

"They surrendered easy enough last time," says yet another rider, "doesn't seem like the same as those vicious bastards at Greatoak."

"Anyway, they're lying about the Blood Guards, we'd have passed them on the road and they'd never take to the woods over a road," says the lieutenant.

"What if they were worried about being waylaid?" asks a rider.

"A soldier might risk running into a forest spirit for that, but not a Blood Guard," the lieutenant says, "they're lying, which means they've done something with them."
>>
>>23437442

>cont.

"Maybe the Blood Guard feared being waylaid and cut through the woods," a rider says, "gods know this country is infested with brigands."

"The Blood Guard? Never," the lieutenant says, "it's our gods that live on roads and theirs that live in woods. Brigands be damned, the woods are always more dangerous for a Blood Guard." He glances over towards the village. "Our horses won't do much good against that wall, flimsy as it is," the lieutenant continues, "we must get back to the main force and report the loss of the Blood Guards to the captain immediately. Let him sort out whether we burn this pile of sticks or not."

With that, the riders turn about and leave.

>wat do?
>>
>>23437442
>a forest spirit

OP, do we have some kind of idea of just how common daemons are? Is it likely that there are others in the area?
>>
>>23437537

Delude the lieutenant:
"If you don't come back with the Blood Guards, or the captain will have your heads."

Maybe he'll desert with his force or rush something. I would, however, say that the destruction of the wagon is more important in case they want to siege the village, so if we get tired drop this one first.
>>
>>23437558

The typical density of daemons is about one per square mile, give or take. A particularly large forest will thus have a lot of daemons who collectively control the forest (sometimes with a queen or something and sometimes anarchic), but smaller forests will just have a single daemon who controls the whole thing. And of course places that aren't forests just have different types of daemons instead.

That said, the Court of Dominion makes a point of clearing rival daemons out before their mortal allies push into an area. They might have been successful in doing so here, in which case the place will be basically absent any daemon not from the Court of Dominion or one of their allied Courts. Or maybe they weren't successful or they've given up that policy in the last few centuries.
>>
>>23437537
Return to the captain, delude him into believing that his riders have been replaced with imposters while they are out, and that they were the ones who killed the blood guards.

That should cause a suitable amount of chaos in their ranks.
>>
>>23437668
>>23437718
I have a better idea : Delude one of the guards to stop and tell the others that he has to take a piss. After they are away, take his bow(if needed delude him to look away from you) and shoot him in the back. Then make his horse carry him to the camp. This should convince the guard to attack the village.
>>
Well, looks like we'll be here for another three hours. I'm going to grab something from the store, should be back in twenty minutes.
>>
>>23437716
Oh. That's a lot more than I thought. Sounds like we should be keeping an eye out both for potential prey and ones that we may have, completely accidentally, pissed off.

>>23437812
Remember that we're already maintaining one delusion, the third might be pushing ourselves too hard.
>>
>>23437718
Just do this. It's simple enough and the chances of anything going wrong are low.
>>
>>23437718

Good idea. We wait with deluding him until he can see the riders so that he can't prepare his force for combat, and it should be more even, thus more damaging.
>>
>>23437891
We'd be racing horse riders back there. I don't think waiting for them will be an issue.
>>
So I guess we all want to try deluding the captain, not the lieutenant?
>>
>>23437718

You return with the riders to the main camp (though they haven't actually pitched tents or anything). The Captain is surrounded by other soldiers, but the lengthening shadows means it's not too hard to get close enough to whisper into his ear "the riders have been replaced with impostors who killed the Blood Guards" as the riders pull up to report.

"That village is ready for an attack and the Blood Guards are nowhere to be seen," the lieutenant says, "I think the village has killed them."

"Is that so?" the captain asks, "and how do you think they managed that?"

"The Blood Guard were terribly outnumbered," the lieutenant says, "and these savages have little respect for the sanctity of holy duel."

"Indeed not," the captain responds. "Lieutenant, I want you and your men to stay behind and harass enemy forces in case of pursuit. Follow a day's travel behind us. We'll be heading for Guille Fortress."

"Captain, our forces are thinned," the lieutenant says, "are you sure it's wise to split ourselves further?"

"Very much so," the captain says, an edge to his voice, "with our Blood Guards dead, we are vulnerable to sorceries of all manner and it is imperative that we be on guard against them. So look for sorcerers or more mortal raiders while we pull back to the safety of the fortress."

"Yes, sir," the lieutenant says, defeated, and turns his mount around to relay his orders to his men.
>>
>>23438605
Seems so. Less potential for things to go wrong.
>>
Blood Guards confirmed for anti-us.
>>
>>23438616
Status on our hopefully-saboteur driver?
>>
>>23438616
>We'll be heading for Guille Fortress

So they are going to get reinforcements before they attack the village. I don't need to mention that in that case, they won't stand a chance.

We should find out who is an officer or experienced veteran and kill them in the night. Then, they won't know what to do, and they will start to distrust each other. Bonus points if we can manage to destroy the supplies and free the prisoners.

No officer can be allowed reach the Fortress if we want to save the village.
>>
>>23438800
We ask the kids to take refuge in the village and go sabotage the fortress.
>>
>>23438760

Looks like he'll probably figure out exactly what to do with the objective you've given him sometime around the heat-death of the universe.

Being less grouchy about it, he's not actively lighting the supplies on fire as near as you can tell, but he seems shifty and nervous. Then again, a lot of people seem shifty and nervous under the circumstances. Still, you'd know if he had resisted your Delusion (which would also inform you that he must be like a wizard in disguise or something, because regular mortals can't do that).
>>
>>23438800
This is all true. And killing the officers in the night is a good idea. They'll probably have a weapon in their tent that we can use, and getting in as a shadow is easy as pie.

The two dozen riders are basically being left with no supplies. They'll be captured/killed when the main army comes back with more troops, I presume, but for now they are split from the main force.

The blood guard seem to be focused on anti magic. If they were really anti demon, they would almost surely have noticed the demon that was within speaking distance of them.
>>
>>23438853
Speaking of Mari and Leson, perhaps it's a good idea for them to stay out of the way, just until we have the ability to use unnoticed or shadow form on things other than ourselves. The risk of them dying due to a random soldier is too great, otherwise.
>>
>>23438866
Driver confirmed for /tg/ parody.

Hate to bring it back into the picture, but if we can knock out their supplies, assuming the fortress is far, they'll be forced to attack now instead.
>>
>>23438960
Speaking of Mari, she knows plant stuff right? Maybe she could help us turn the poison delusion into reality?
>>
>>23438973

We should lift the drivers delusion and burn the wagon in the night, after the more sneaky parts.
>>
>>23439038

It would probably take her several days to collect the neccesary plants for a force this size. It would be good to have her carry some strong poison at all times, but I don't think poisoning the army is an option. The risk of losing them is too great. We had to run for several hours, not taking preparation of the poison into account. Besides, we would be bound to our physical from.

Do people notice strange things we're holding while unnoticed?
>>
>>23439038

She certainly knows which foods are poisonous already, but she doesn't know how to make poisons.

>>
>>23439417

Alright. You wait until night falls and the soldiers have made camp. They march a fair time in the night, using torches and lanterns to stay on the road. You creep into the captain's tent during the witching hour (not because it makes you stronger, but because no one's awake at 2.30 AM), grab his sword and shove it through his throat. It's not anything like the Blood Guard swords, more practical and straightforward, but the craftsmanship looks really good. And it stabs throats really well, too!

You won't be able to bring this sword with you if you go to Shadow Form but you might be able to sneak out if you use Unnoticed judiciously and only move when no one's looking. Or you could play it safe and sneak out without the sword by using Shadow Form like normal.

Meh. This response took much longer than it should have, sorry.
>>
>>23439668

Using unnoticed now will waste the rest of the night. I think we should deal some more damage.

they might be able to identify people affected by delusion or be immune themselves. or we might just not have been close enough.
>>
It looks like "kill more officers" is popular.

----

You flit from one tent to the next. The cover of night makes it easy to get from one place to another; campfires are the only things you need to be concerned about and those are fairly sparse. By stabbing the officers through the throat, none of them are able to yell out a warning or call for help, and since all of them sleep alone (bennies of being an officer, presumably, how ironic). You leave the swords stuck up out of the ground, like grave markers for the dead men below.

It's almost dawn now.

We also have to remember that the lieutenant leading the scouting force knows the plan to receive reinforcements at the fortress, and we have to expect that all of his soldiers know that the villagers killed the blood guards. We wouldn't want to leave any loose ends.
>>
>>23440205
Find the driver and brag about our score while he still hasn't got shit done.

Nah but seriously, sounds like we've left our mark, now we see how they respond. If someone takes charge, maybe we can influence them as well.
>>
>>23440205

free the prisoners, ignite the wagon, hide nearby as shadow.
>>
>>23440297
Oh right. There's those things too. We forgot to do that.
>>
>>23440297
Oh yeah, these needs doing
>>
>>23440297
>>23440335
>>23440362

So I guess we'll attempt to free the prisoners first?
>>
>>23440492
I think creating a distraction before we're freeing them might be prudent.
>>
>>23440526
Setting something on fire? Directing something to a dead officer?
>>
>>23440545
Alternatively, replace either option with 'someone'. All seem like fine options to me.
>>
>>23440545

Fire seems to be a popular option, but how do you plan to do so?
>>
>>23440583
or replace someone with wagon full of supplies
>>
>>23440599
Find flint and steel and torch. Near wagon preferably.
>>
>>23440599

You said there were campfires. If there are guards, make them believe they heard something. Then turn corporeal, take a burning piece of wood and throw it in.
>>
>>23440599
>Fire seems to be a popular option

Yes it does. We should really look into that. Shit's not healthy.

>>23440641
Or just, you know, make an actual noise. Mundane options don't have as much of an upper limit on the number of people affected.
>>
>>23440680
>Or just, you know, make an actual noise. Mundane options don't have as much of an upper limit on the number of people affected.

Turn corporeal, scream like a little girl, then turn into a shadow again?^
>>
>>23440740
For example. Maybe too high profile, though? At least until we've actually started a fire. Just the sound of movement in the woods could be enough. Considered they seem to be afraid of woods, they'd likely go in groups to inspect.
>>
>>23440837

Sounds lika a plan. let's do this.
>>
>>23440837

You head to the woods and begin making noises out there and being a creepy shadow. After close to an hour, someone discovers one of the officers, which sends up an alarm. Before long, a fire rises out of the supply wagon, so it looks like your delusion'd "traitor" has done his work. With the fire already going, you go to corporeal form in the woods and shriek. A patrol is sent out to find the source while other soldiers attempt to put out the flames. Some are saddling up horses and galloping away already, without the captain or any of his lieutenants around to stop them. The guard on the prisoners is near the heart of the camp and thus still fairly heavily guarded, however.

>wat do?
>>
>>23441099

Follow the soldiers gallopping away and make one of them speak out his thoughts, if the situation allows it. If they are trying to desert leave them and return, in case they deliver a message we stick with them. When we know what they plan to do and have a nice chance to kill them we should do it and return to the army.
>>
>>23441099
Well, that's one delusion we don't need to focus on anymore! Seems like everything is working out as we wanted, which of course is a horrible, horrible sign of danger.

I have no ideas on freeing the prisoners at the moment. Well, not any stealthy ones at least. Anyone?
>>
>>23441099
Well fuck, we cant do much about the deserters. Were they going towards the village or away? Either way our priority needs to be freeing the prisoners or at least making sure they arent executed by the panicking guards. Lets get closer to the prison cart and look for someone we can delusion.
>>
>>23441290
Agreed
Nice to see you are back TM

We cant't be sure that they are deserters. We should follow them to make sure they don't plan to call reinforcements.
>>
>>23441099
Make the prisoner guards believe they heard screaming from the other soldiers nearby. That should drive them away.

Chances are, a lot of soldiers are going to escape. This is both a good and a bad thing, because a reputation of terror is a powerful weapon, but they may find a way to be ready next time.
>>
>>23441337
Thats also a good point I didnt consider. Im a bit torn now, but leaning towards chasing down the runaways.
>>
>>23441337
Wouldn't a small army being dispersed and failing to report back also result in reinforcements? I'm thinking we passed that issue the moment we decided to stop them from taking this bumhole village.
>>
>>23441357

Delusions still can't induce hallucinations. That hasn't changed since earlier in this thread.
>>
>>23441099
I say we delusion one of the soldiers to need to free the prisoners.
>>
>>23441387
How will we catch the runaways?
>>
>>23441428
Will we even bother with cathing them?
I mean we cant catch them all and even if we could what good would it do for us?
>>
>>23441458
Yeah i say we don't chase them.
>>
>>23441428
We can run as fast as a horse apparently, since we were able to keep up with the party on horseback that went to the village first. Theres the question of whether we can actually overtake and kill them stealthily though.
>>
>>23441479
I believe OP said those weren't in full gallop and that we only just kept up? Panicing soldiers probably move faster.
>>
>>23441408
I was momentarily confused.

We really need to get a power that can induce hallucinations, if only so OP can finally stop telling us that. Though I have to say that since delusion can't make hallucinations, it's uses are very limited. Does making people believe all their limbs are broken count as a hallucination?
>>
>>23441479
Say five desert and gallop of in different directions. How will we ever have time catch them all?
>>
>>23441506
Delusions can make something seem like a fact to someone from what weve been told. I believe the OP said such a possible example was telling someone their kegs dont work. I could be wrong though.
>>
>>23441406

True, but a dead or dispersed army won't immediately trigger retaliation against Deepwell. If we plan carefully, we can kill everyone who knows too much, saving the village from a larger force. So far, the normal soldiers will only know that they were marching towards Deepwell, the Blood Guards did not return and in the night everything went downhill. It's suspicious, but if the villagers are convincing, they won't be massacred.
>>
>>23441506
What? Limited? We can make people do whatever we want. It is an instant mindbreak. We could say to some "You NEED to free the prisoners NOW." and they would try to free the prisoners.

Actually we could go around slinging soldiers at the prison guards like that. It would surely terrify them.
>>
>>23441531
Legs, damnit.

SIR OUR KEGS ARENT WORKING! ALL IS LOST.
>>
>>23441547
SQUAD BROKEN
>>
>>23441540
Well, let's try that then.
>>
>>23441099
Are they leaving as one unit or splitting up? In what directions are they travelling?
>>
>>23441540
But as it has worked thus far, they will think "My legs aren't working" and then look down and see that they are still standing, and ignore it.
>>
>>23441533
I agree with this guy. And if the village gets massacred why the hell should we care? We are a demon damn it.
>>
>>23441540

No. It isn't. If you tell someone that they need to free the prisoners right now, all that happens is that they believe there is some vague and ominous doom coming if they don't do so. There's still plenty of situations where they still wouldn't do it, and in fact you've run into those situations repeatedly.
>>
>>23441578
No, they would think OH SHIT MY LEGS ARE THERE BUT SHOULDNT BE THERE! I AM GOING MAD!
>>
>>23441592
Could say something like "The love of your life, your children, your mother and your father are among the prisoners" then?
>>
>>23441592
So like I said, we need to get a power that can induce hallucinations ASAP.
>>
>>23441567

They're leaving in the same general direction (usually) but in multiple groups.

>>23441505

Indeed. You can't run as fast as a horse, and since these horses are actually running and not just moderately in a hurry, you won't be able to keep up for more than about ten minutes, tops.
>>
>>23441581
We're really just aiming wildly at anything this whole quest. We're sticking to Mari mainly because she was there and seems like maybe there might be more to her, now we're fucking up these soldiers because she's in that village and maybe someone there will be useful to us/her.

Also it's fun to do.
>>
>>23441636
Nah, there are far more useful powers out there than to waste another on manipulating. We need a combat power next.
>>
>>23441620

Yes. Since they can't really spot check that immediately they'll continue to believe it until they've thoroughly searched through each of them and ascertained that their loved ones aren't among them. Even then they might go on believing that they WERE there, but then somehow disappeared.

>>23441578

For things that work with the body of the person you're actually talking to, it depends on how you phrase it. "Your legs are missing" is something where they can look down and hey, their legs aren't missing like they thought, that's a relief. "Your legs aren't working" is one of those things where their legs will actually psycho-somatically stop working.
>>
>>23441661
Very well. Lets just try and make a soldier think he needs to free the prisoners and lines them up to be counted because one is missing. We can act from there. It should also be a worrying enough excuse to be worth a shot
>>
>>23441716
One IS missing.
>>
>>23441620
>"The love of your life, your children, your mother and your father are among the prisoners"
I should put "and if you fail to retrieve them now the blood guards will find and torture you" on the end. They seem like a scary bunch.
>>
>>23441581
Because the court of dominion is apparently full of dicks and fucking with them is a neat idea.
>>
>>23441751
Sounds like a good plan to me.
>>
>>23441701
we just killed a bunch of dudes. these espionage powers have been fairly useful so far.
>>
I unfortunately can't participate because of work but I just want to mention, a lot of the problems we've been having with delusion is caused by the fact that we're only giving them fear of something, and that can be overwritten by a greater fear. (attacking the bloodguards) We should try something else, like instead of saying "the bloodguards are traitors, kill them or they'll kill you all" , say "the bloodguards are traitors! Kill them and everyone will be thankful" or something. Replace the fear that inhibits them with something else.
>>
>>23441774
But the moment our camouflage breaks we are fucked.
>>
Just to make sure: is the lieutenant leading the small force to the village dead too?
>>
>>23441782
So you're saying we're trying to out-scary the in-setting commissars and that's just not possible. Gotcha!
>>
>>23441796
You mean the forward group of riders? Nope, they're perfectly fine for all we know, Someone else may have done our work for us though, wouldn't be a first.
>>
>>23441795
Then we turn into a shadow and flee. We can't be harmed in shadow form. The character is designed around subterfuge and espionage, and all of our talents are based around that. I don't think any of them have access to any combat powers, it's all stealth and some defense.
>>
>>23441581
"we're a demon" isn't a reason to be a bitch. we're pre-christian, more like an unaligned spirit than a pure evil demon from hell type. we're mostly doing this because we have nothing better to do while we wait for our powers to return.

>>23441795
so invest more in it, duh
>>
>>23441795

So you would go for some combat skills? Seeing that we can use delusions to give us an edge when fighting normal people, we should maybe get something to fight against magicians. They could break our camouflage and defend themselves against delusions.
>>
>>23441807
Unless we use the Blood Guards against them. "The blood guards are not real blood guards! The real blood guards are the ones who hired you to kill these blood guards."
>>
>>23441858
Yeah, that was what i meant. With all these Blood Guards and who know what creeping around we need to be prepared if our main abilities malfunctions.
>>
>>23441889
"you're not scared of the blood guards" might work if we find someone who's already mad at them
>>
>>23441707
Alright then. Let's start by getting the guard to open the cage by deluding him into believing that his loved ones are inside. Then, cancel that and throw down the delusion that all his limbs are broken in excessively painful ways and that his organs are failing, providing an opportunity for the prisoners to escape.

(I don't suppose we could just make them believe that existance is pointless, sapping their will to live and making them unreactive/suicidal?)
>>
>>23441796

No, he split off from the main group before you massacred the rest, so he's still at large.

Also, I need to go now. I'll be back on at the usual time tomorrow (12:00 EST, which is same as 4chan server time).
>>
I think the thread needs archiving then
>>
Thanks for tonight, OP!

Archive, anyone?
>>
>>23441967
Could we then mass delude the prisoners into thinking that for them to escape, they must kill all of the soldiers in the camp first...or would that be going too far?
>>
>>23441967

Should be possible to do the latter. But I doubt that there will only be one guard nearby. Maybe some large distraction? Like: You just realized that life is shitty and killing yourself right now will end your suffering.
>>
>>23442026
Rule of thumb has been:
1 delusion can be maintained indefinitely.
2 delusions can be maintained a few minutes before getting tired.
3 delusions a few seconds.
Forget 4.
>>
>>23442026
They would probably all die and accomplish very little. Or just ignore it and flee anyway.
Probably the latter.
>>
>>23442020
>>23442024

Done.
>>
>>23442040
Okay, what belief would make a random soldier mook want to kill themselves in the littlest time possible. You gotta be specific with it, too.

I think something like "Life is meaningless, and your suffering will only grow worse from here on. Killing yourself right now is the best option." If theory holds true, and they believe it fully, then they should immediately find the fastest and most efficient way to end their own life, wheras saying something like "Your life is pointless and you should just die" might make him try to be a hero or something.
>>
>>23442098
Nice job with the tags there, sparky.
>>
Not just out-scare. Any sort of incentive would work, provided it was strong enough. Play off the person's weaknesses and such. Like instead of just always using fear, use a captain's glory-mongering nature and say something like "doing this will defiantly get you promoted."
>>
>>23443381
>>23441807
Supposed to be quoting this...
>>
>>23443381
Everybody left already, dude.
