Chronicles of a Brighter Future
Or Bright Quest

The Quest So Far:
A man named Bright Noah joins Zeon (For Reasons Yet Unexplored), and is promoted to Captain of the Musai class cruiser ‘Longfellow’ for his actions during the One Week Battle / Battle of Loum. Newly minted Majors Bright and Char Aznable are ordered by Dozle Zabi to perform a joint investigation of the rumored Earth Federation Mobile Suit in development at Side 7. After entering the Loum Shoal Field, and thwarting an ambush by the legitimate Midnight Insertion Team, Bright discovered the Federation is making another Experimental Mobile Suit in the neutral territory of Side 6. Zaku II pilot Kareem Councilman was sent to Pezun to bring word of this to Lord Dozle Zabi, who immediately contacted President Sherk of the Riah Republic with the request to investigate. His Riah Intelligence Agents have done so, photographing the early construction of the RX-78NT-1 Alex before returning with their findings…
Meanwhile, at Loum, the first mobility tests of the modified Zudahs were... inauspicious at best. The secondary manned tests later showed the units to be reliable, for the time being. The Zudah ‘Triple’ was also successfully tested and later manned, and might well prove a terror on the battlefield.
Currently, the salvaged Salamis has rejoined the Siegfried. The EFF prisoners are being transferred from the Magellan battleship to the two Pazok class cruisers sent from Pezun, while the Papua had a VIP: The mad scientist who got Bright into this whole testing mess in the first place, Professor Felix Ceff.

Quest runs from 10am, PST, until 2pm PST OR until interest peters out / I need to sleep.

The system:
See Image or the Pastebin for a detailed ruleset. pastebin.com/e3q4q0MP
That'll tell you more than you wanted to know.

Basic rules still apply (Grey Box): Roll d20: Highest dice roll out of the first three rolls is used for the Dice Check (DC), while all three rolls are averaged to determine other internal factors, if applicable. Natural 20’s and Critical Failures (1) supersede all other rolls made.

Roll d100: d100’s are used for different factors, the most applicable of which will be listed at the call for the roll. High is always better.

Rolling for Time: When asked to roll for time, the first roll response will be used, with additional rolls used as necessary. This is the only time low rolls are desired.

NewType powers, since they are plot breaking, will be based on a point system.
For every natural 20 you roll, you'll get .5 NTP. If you roll an 11 on a d20, it will be worth .25 of a NTP. Double rolls on a D100 will also garner .25 NTP.

You can exchange 1 NTP for an automatic critical success / plot breaking idea. You can also exchange 1 NTP to reduce an opposing main character's plot armor by 1/4 or 1/2 on any actions you take against them - the amount reduced will be situational, and depend on what you're planning on doing.

New layout of opening posts is me trying to be both Catalog and 'Anti-Quest /tg/ Denizen' friendly.

Once the docking tubes were set, Bright tore through them, finding Mohai on the other end. He stared at the larger man, simply asking “Where is he.”

“Zaku hangar.”

Bright took off like a shot.

The scene he came upon was about what he had been expecting (or fearing). Ezra was in the cockpit of the MS-05 Airborne, holding Ceff at bay with her service pistol, shouting “This was my sister’s machine, you egghead! I’ll never let you touch it!”

“But, I just want to-“

“No!”

“Attempt to modi-“

“NO!”

“Just a little?” Ceff asked.

The gun shot rang in the small space, the bullet ricocheting between Ceff’s legs and lodging into a parts container behind him. The old man held his hands up and slowly backed away, towards where Bright was standing at the door. “Okay, Okay. I can see you’re upset. I’ll ask later.”

“Try ask NEVER, you ass!” She said, slamming the cockpit door shut and locking the outside world out again.

Bright grabbed Ceff in a head lock, and hissed “What are you doing on my ship?”

“Uh… Checking on my modifications?” The man hazarded.

“After we tested them?”

“Of course! That’s the safest time!” He said cheerily, followed by “I also heard the specifics on your mission. I want in.”

[ ] Allow Ceff to join in the great EFF MS Hunt. His perchance for stabilizing potentially explosive devices should come in handy. especially if he can make non-explosive prone feddy equipment suddenly develop the ability to spontaneously explode...

For some reason I feel that Ceff would 'upgrade' Seabrooks helmet to be more Zudah-esk... He probably wouldn't see the potential insult of giving her (who has lost an eye) an Mono-eye sensor helmet...

Also, Hello again Char. I noticed a lack of Axis being dropped on the earth, so I assume all went well?
>>

Well, I'm here, with a full night's sleep in, daylight savings time not-withstanding. I'm ready and willing to spend eight hours on this, if it gets up and rolling. So, yes. Axis stays where it is. I kinda live there.

Also, once the thread winds down, I need to do some Bright Quest Crunch. It's level-up time for our Pilots, Bright, and the Siegfried's Gunnery Sergent and Sensor Operator.

[x] What are you bringing to the table?

We'll need to assign a guard detail to 05 Airborne if the crazy guy comes with.

And Ezra discharging a weapon probably needs to be dealt with. Bright don't run no undisciplined ship. Her reasons are understood, but we don't fire weapons inside the space ship.

Bright let the older man go, and Ceff quickly straightened out his lab coat as he turned to face the captain. “You want in?” Bright asked, “Convince me. Tell me what you’re good for,” he waited a tick before continuing, “Besides endangering the lives of my crew and pilots.”

Ceff looked annoyed. “I come up with an ingenious way to keep a promising prototype from exploding, find the two that were in mothballs since the testing against the MS 05, fix them up, find four more to work on, and this is the kind of treatment I get?” His eye wandered back to the Airborne Zaku I’s Anti-Radiation Interdiction Field Emitter, which had been pulled out of the unit for some reason. “I can appreciate a healthy dose of skepticism. Helps keep the fire of science burning bright. Christine is good, but she doesn’t know what I did. She couldn’t explain it if she tried-“

“What did you do, exactly?” Bright asked.

“I have no idea. But I was able to replicate it!” Ceff said, grinning madly. “So I think it has something to do with the synergistic effects of the I-field power generation system and the strain put on the original reactors to drive that beast of an engine. I did upgrade them all with the new Minovsky reactor we built for the Dowdage, after all. That probably helped a lot.”

Bright frowned. “Dowdage?”
>>
>>23611883

“Pezun project. Think Dom, but space, and with inbuilt chest mounted laser cannon, the reactor modification was cheap,” Ceff said, waiving off the question. “It pumps out one thousand, four hundred and twenty megawatts per second. Per second per second? Or squared? I can never remember…” he shook his head. “Anyway, what can I do for you? Well, as stated, I can explain the tech better than Christine can. I also can provide you with a more indepth analysis of the readings you’ve gotten from your tests – I’m sure Christine gave the numbers a go but can’t understand the full implications of them.”

Bright nodded, as that had basically happened during the Triple’s test.

“Also, I can modify most anything. Or promise not too. Which would be hard, but I can behave if it means I get to see what old Trenov managed to figure ou-”

“Wait, you knew Doctor Minovsky?” Bright asked.

“Yes…?” Ceff hazarded. “I was an assistant to Doctor Ionesco during the development of the Minovsky-Ionesco fusion reactor at the MPS in Forty Seven. That’s the Minovsky Physics Society, by the by.”

Well, shit.

Ah. That was more 'supplemental info' than anything else, a reminder that Dr. Minovsky is a secondary person of interest.

Also, if you get a chance, watch MS igLOO. It was all about a technical platoon doing experiments with mobile suits during the One Year War. Kind of what we've been doing in this quest.

I'm also not sure if Ceff is technically as crazy as Minovsky. He's a very evasive character by nature, and his mind is a difficult place. i think it's safe to say he's always going to be a bit of an unknown factor, but if you keep him busy, you might get something out of it. The players did roll for him to be here.

>[X] Anything ELSE I should know / you can do?

“Anything else I should know about?” Bright asked, pinching the bridge of his nose in a vain attempt to ward away a headache.

Ceff tapped his chin in thought. “I can fix things, modify things, do Science to things, make mad passionate love to women, and my peers are jealous of my credentials in the field of Science… Did I mention the science part?”

“Are you always this evasive, or are you just doing this to me?”

Ceff quirked an eyebrow. “Frankly my boy, I’m trying to be straight with you. It’s not my fault my brain goes in circles. Or is it? I know it annoys the hell out of Gihren, but he’s an ass who couldn’t find his way into an engineering degree with a study guide and a free wrench.”

And oddly, the headache was gone.

>[\] Allow Ceff to join in the great EFF MS Hunt.

“MPs,” Bight called, and in an instant, a pair of uniformed Marines appeared in the doorway to the Zaku hangar. “Take this man to the CIC, and get Christine in there with the data we pulled from the Zudah tests. I’ll figure out what to do with him later.”

The Marines saluted, and shuffled the scientist out the door as Bright eyed the MS 05.

>[X] Check on Ezra

The mono-eye was offline, but Bright still felt as if it was staring at him. Ezra probably has some of the secondary cameras running. “Corporal Retersdorf, I’m coming aboard the oh five. Open the cockpit hatch and stand down.” Bright said as he pushed off of the floor, and floated up to the cockpit hatch. It remained resolutely shut for a long moment, before opening.

“What do you want?” a flat voice asked.

“You discharged a weapon aboard my ship, at war-critical personnel no less-“

“He’s an ass.”

“Granted,” Bright said, ducking into the hatch and entering the cockpit, “But he’s still essential to the war effort. I think.” Ezra had been crying. That much was obvious, from the puffy redness around her golden eyes. “Weapon,” he said, holding out a hand.

She surrendered it, and Bright removed the magazine, cycled the slide, and slipped the freed bullet into the magazine before pocketing them both. “Normally, discharging a weapon aboard ship is worth disciplinary action. When you’re back on duty, I want you to report to my office for a reprimand. For the time being,” Bright let his tone slip from ‘superior officer’ to ‘concerned’, “Are you alright? You’ve been crying.”

Ezra sniffled a bit, but nodded. “My sister left a note, and it’s gotten me all emotional,” she wiped her eyes with her uniform sleeve, “but something’s weird.”

“Weird how?”

“Well, her note said the usual things, like how much she loves us and sorry she died, but it also said she left something behind, something her commanding officer gave her as ‘insurance’, but not where it is…”

C - A booby trap, Worst case scenario the reactor goes Critical and lots of damage to the ship and many fatalities (including Ezra & us)

----------

Ceff stopped suddenly, patting his lab coat’s front pocket. “Oh. Well, shit.”

“Problem, sir?” The MP on the left asked.

“Oh, nothing. Just lost the commemorative pen given to me by Zeon Daikun for my help in designing the Minovsky-Ionesco fusion reactor in Forty Seven, is all. Nothing big.”

The Marines stopped. Granted, it was the oldest ploy in the book, but… “Do you want to go back for it?”

“Oh? Could we? I’d hate to lose it, one of a kind, you know.”

“Five minutes?” One Marine hazarded.

“Can’t hurt.” Said the other.

Once back in the Zaku hanger, Ceff made a beeline to the MS-05 Airborne’s pulled anti-radiation I-field generator, pulling an access panel off the side, and reaching an arm in. A moment later, he came out with something small wrapped in a red kerchief that had been stuffed in a fuse slot. He pulled his pen out of his pants pocket, reaffixed it to his lapel, and casually tossed the kerchief, item and all, over his shoulder.

Where it bounced into the cockpit of the MS-05.

“Found it!” he said to the MP’s, pointing at his lapel.

--------------------

Bright heard “Found it!” from the open cockpit and turned – in time for a red handkerchief to smack him in the face. He pulled it away from his face, leaving an SD Card spinning in space before him. “Uh. Would this be it, by any chance?”

“No idea,” Ezra said, taking the SD Card from Bright and inserting it into a card slot on the console before her.

The cockpit door slammed shut and the monitors came on, showing nothing but static as an audio clip began to play….

“Gihren,” Dozle said solemnly. “What?”

Gihren, who had been limping around the room, came to an abrupt halt with a sharp ‘click’ of his cane. “What?”

“You’ve Gone Insane.”

“I don’t think you understand, brother,” Gihren hissed, throwing himself into a chair.

“Oh, I understand the threat of the EFF once we begin this war, but do you understand? You’ve just told me you want the opening shot to kill three million of our own people!” Dozle shouted, coming to his feet and slamming his large meaty hands onto the conference table at which the members of the Zabi family sat. Kycilia pulled back a bit, looking uncomfortable. Degawin winced.

“They’re not ‘our’ people, Dozle, they’re the Earth Federatio-”

“They’re Spacenoids, you complete and utter idiot.”

“Dozle!” Gihren snapped. “You will mind your to-“

“And you want to do this, just on the off chance their home, the colony they live in, will serve as a weapon to crush the Federation’s main headquarters of Jaburo?” Dozle continued, ignoring Gihren completely, turning and waiving his hands in the air. “My mind is full of WHY!”

Degawin held up a hand to forestall Gihren’s protests, and asked, “What, exactly, do you mean, Dozle?”

“Why a colony? We could rent the mass drivers at Von Braun and hurl the chunks of iron laden scrap tonnage we’ve been excavating out of Solomon to turn it into a base!”

“Any rock large enough to penetrate Jaburo’s hardened cave system would need to be the size of A Boa Qu to be effective,” Kycilia said irritably.

“Fine. But why gas them? There’s no way to escape from that! You’re just slaughtering civilians! I could, maybe, grasp this concept if you were talking about Luna Two, but Side Two? Civilians? And terribly positioned for an attack! You’d need to go through the bunches to hit the planet!”
>>

>>23614056

“Which is why we’ll move it to the moon-” Girhen started.

“The Moon? You mean, THAT MOON?” Dozle shouted, pointing at a monitor which was set to ‘window’ mode, showing a rather breath taking view of Luna imposed over Earth, and the lights of Granada city. “You want to drag it all the way here, to what? Gravity sling-shot it into the planet?”

“Yes,” Gihren ground out, veins standing out on his neck and forehead with barely suppressed rage.

“My wife would call ME an idiotic ass if I tried to run such a plan by her,” Dozle said. “If you want to chuck something at the damn planet, why not use that colony you evacuated everyone out of? Oh, wait, let me guess – that would be ‘too inconvenient’ for your plans,” Dozle mimicked Gihren’s voice for the last part, and the man’s face went bright red for a second.

“Wait, what’s this about evacuating a colony? Here? I didn’t authorize any such thing,” Degawin stated, looking sharply at Gihren.

“It’s… nothing, father. Just attempting to make better use of the available resource-” Girhen started.

“By building a death ray that might not even work,” Dozle finished.

Gihren trew his cane at Dozle, who leaned his head to one side as it sailed past, embedding into the wall with a *thrummm*. “Know your place, mongrel!”

“Get over yourself,” Dozle replied returning to his seat.

“If we have a colony already evacuated for… one of your pet projects,” Degawin said, “Why not use it instead?”

“I’ve already begun the process of installing various heat exchangers, removed the north dock station, and lightened the walls,” Gihren stated bitterly. “It would burn up like tissue paper if we used it instead.”

ahh. thanks for the clarification. so if we fired 30 colonies at Jaburo, ONE of them should hit it, Right?

also, change 'side 5' to 'the texas colony'... could we fire the 'Jersey colony' or would that be worse? majority of my Gundam knowledge comes from MSG abridged...

“Garma!” Dozle said, snapping his younger brother’s attention away from his phone and back to the table. “Didn’t you mention something the other day, about your trip with that friend of yours? Chartreuse, or something?”

Garma blinked. “Char. His name is Char. And we went to Avalon.”

“Avalon? You mean that wonderland colony? I haven’t been there since you were knee high to a grasshopper, Garma,” Degawin said, smiling at the memories.

“Yes, father. But, the entire place was dead. I think we saw, perhaps, two hundred people, tops. I asked one of the managers why the park had so few visitors, and he cited the trade embargo as the cause. Only a few people left working there, I guess the Bunch Concern cut them off and left them to fare for themselves, and most of the employees quit to either enlist in our military or find a manufacturing job,” Garma said. “Why? What were you talking about?”

Dozle pointed at Gihren. “There! If your precious death ray won’t cut it, why not use that ‘Avalon’ one, then? Close it down, evacuate the tourists, give it a lap around the Moon, and smash it into the planet!” Gihren folded his arms across his chest and looked away as Dozle continued, “Besides, once the Big Zam is complete, nothing will stand in our way! The Federation will cower before our mighty war machine as we tread upon-” Degawin shot him a look. “The… sorry. Kycilia? Any thoughts?”

She looked up at him, and tucked an errant stand of her red hair back over her ear. “While I can understand, and support, your refusal to needlessly take the lives of non-combat personnel, I also understand Gihren’s argument for an early war destruction of Jaburo leading the EFF troops into disarray. Give me a moment…” she said, flipping part of the table up to reveal a loptop style screen and keyboard. She rapidly typed for a few minutes before continuing. “Avalon is two thirds the size of a standard closed-type O’Neil Island 3, and is actually for sale. Gihren, are you certain we couldn’t use it?”

why do i get the feeling that the DC is something like 99 to stop Gihren from committing atrocities and War Crimes?

And wouldn't the distance the initial Colony Drop subject travels only serve to leave more units available for the Feddies counter attack at Loum?
>>
>>23616311

>Q1: DC was 75. You passed it by one.

>Q2: Not really. Loum was less of a 'counter attack' and more 'Don't let them pull that shit again'. Loum was also an excellent muster point for an assault on Zeon, as it's got the Moon between them and you, and Von Braun is neutral, so they won't be targeting EFF Ships gathering at Loum.

>Problem is, Zeon showed up at Loum with Nukes, and the EFF ships were also equipped with nukes. So, no more Loum.

“Probably,” Gihren said, frowning. “To be honest, I forgot those even existed. I’ll okay the purchase of Avalon to be used for this if you,” he pointed at Dozle, “Plan the defense of the target, the proper slingshot orbit, and don’t come back to Side Three until either father or I summon you.”

“To Be Frank, Gihren, I Don’t Feel Like Being On The Same Side As You At The Moment Either. I’ll Be At Solomon Should You Have Need Of Me,” Dozle said, over emphasizing each word before turning and slamming the door on his way out.

------------------

With a sudden snap, the static filled screens of the MS-05 flipped off, and the cockpit door re-opened, dimly illuminating a rather stunned Bright Noah and a baffled Ezra Retersdorf.

“What, exactly, was that?” Ezra asked.

“Something you never heard. That’s an order, Corporal,” Bright said, recovering the SD Card.

“If you say so, Captain.”

Sorry, had to wander off for a while.

And I'm also tapped out for the night. So, we'll pick up with the CIC room brief next week.

For the mean time, I need you folks to roll some dice for me. Our various pilots have performed well, and upon review, I have assigned some PASS Score upgrades.

MS Pilots
Kareem: 1d4x2, 1d6x2, +2
Pamila: 1d4, 1d6 +2
Lourie: 1d4x2, 1d6, 1d8, +2
Chance: 1d4x2
Wyatt: 1d4
Ezra: 1d8
Jean: 1d6x2 +2
Maryln: +2
Aron: 1d8
Bright: 1d6 +2

Siegfried
Gunner: 1d4x4
Sensors: 1d8

So, using the list above, select the dice, put the person whom you're rolling for in your post, and let's see if they can level up.

Still damn good, considering she was at 90 to begin with. Lourie Seabrook's PASS is now 100, with +3 reserved.

How Reserve Points Work: If a Pilot hits 100 on their PASS score, they cannot advance further without becoming a NewType or other Enhanced Human. Reserve points reflect progress through experience, and can be used as NTP for NPCs at the rate of 2 Reserve Points per burn.

Lourie + 13
Chance + 7

Ezra + 5
Jean + 9
Maryln + 2
Aron + 6
Bright + 7
Gunner + 14
Sensors + 6
>>
>>23617875
at this rate bright will have the best ship crew in all of zeon
>>
>>23617875
thusly, current PASS scores are looking like;
Kareem - 74
Pamila - 91
Lourie - 100 (+3)
Chance - 74
Wyatt - 71
Ezra - 81
Jean - 69
Maryln - 72
Aron - 63
Bright - 63

so yes, we are statistically as good as the Anonymous Irresponsible Pilot in Jeans Squad... even though Jean is statistically the 3rd best pilot in his own squad...

Just realised that on the pilot rosters sheet, it doesn't mention about Newtype pilots. We Know that Pamila is a newtype as during her interview she tried to shoot 'mind bullets' at Jean (who is NOT NOW, OR EVER a newtype) giving us a headache (thusly the order for her to stop doing that)...

so is there a reason for it not being on there, or did you just forget to alter it on the collective sheet, as if I recall, you did make a single character sheet for her when you were making us guess the Single Obscure Reference about her being a beast type or some such other thing... My knowledge extends to Oldtypes, Newtypes, Cyber-Newtypes and a vague awareness of Moonpeoples from Turn-A... sort of...

You are correct. It's on the single license only, at the moment.

If you'll recall, I had a hard drive crash around chaper 7. Managed to come out of it fine, but all my accumulated fonts were gone - including the version of OCRA Extended I was using for the pilot roster. As such, I wasn't going to re do it all until I had a good reason too. The level up is a decent enough reason, in my opinion. So, I'll get on that, and add it in.

As for unlocking further known NewTypes amongst your pilot's and crew, there are three ways to do it. One is to passively wait until it's revealed, as certain events will trigger them like with Jean. Asking Jean to snipe something, or putting him in a position in which he did, was the trigger to unlock it.
The second method is to put together the clues I've attempted to weave into the character's reactions and mannerisms, and then guess it in thread. 'Character X is really good at Y, is Y/YZ /Z a NewType power?' will work, so long as you get 70% of it right, I'll give it to you.
The third is to have an awakened NewType moment, and do the whole 'Trancendance' / 'Naked NewType brainFuckery' thing. hard to do, since Bright is a NewType, but you haven't unlocked his Type yet. But, there it is.

another question. What is the PASS limit on Newtype pilots? is there one, does it vary Newtype to Newtype, or does it go on forever? does this limit extend to any clones of said Newtype (see Puru & Puru 2)? Is there a difference between a normal Newtypes limit and that of a Cyber-Newtype?
Why is this question block focused on Newtypes? Why is 'Newtype' not a recognized word in the English language? Why have I gone off on a tangent from Newtypes? Why did I bother writing this last part then spoiler it?

Also, Found Char's civilian transport. couldn't remember if I already forwarded it...

what is "Pass" and why do the female pilots all have a higher level of it?
>>

Tobia Arronax has a PASS Score equivalent of 200 / 250.

Amuro Ray tops out at 150, end of MSG in original UC Gundam.
Char tops out at 120 / 130 at the end of MSG, original UC Gundam.

Clones might suffer an initial penalty, but have a higher recovery / enchanced ability to learn things quickly. Depending on the genes used, they might be lower or higher than the original people cloned. Like some children are better at certain things than their parents, while others are worse at certain things than their parents.

NewType is a made up word,so it doesn'tmean anything at all.

>>23618218
The PASS:
PASS Stands for: Piloting Ability Standardized Score, and can be viewed as an ASVAB Score Analoge, if you live in the USA and know what that is. It's basically a numerical value that approximates a person's abilities as a pilot. In some cases they are correct, and in others... Jean was too busy flirting with the gunny bunny to pay attention to the answers.

I used a true random number generator at Random.org to assign numbers to the various pilots, in order. So, God Wills it.

Surprise Omake is a Surprise!

--------------Side Six Omake: 5th Entry--------------

Clinton Sherk, President of the Riah Republic, flipped through the photographs his Riah Intelligence Agents had submitted with a flat expression. When Dozle Zabi had called him earlier, he had nearly had a heart attack. The EFF Installation he’d known about, hell, he’d suggested they retain an outpost in Riah to ‘strengthen diplomatic ties’. The Mobile Suit Development occurring within said outpost, however, he had not known about.
He tossed the photographs onto the desk, the topmost showing a skeletal leg assembly with a few armor panels and thrusters already installed. ‘It’s a cold day in space when Zeon is being more honest with you than the Feds,’ he thought to himself, pulling his key ring out of his pocket. He unlocked his desk’s top drawer, removing a small notebook and flipped through the pages until he found the section he needed. He typed the code into his computer, which beeped after he was done, and he settled in to wait.

Three minutes later, the screen came on automatically and the computer made a soft chime. Clinton looked up from the photos to see an Earth Federation Officer looking back at him. “Did you need something, Mister Sherk?” the officer asked in a bored monotone.

“Lieutenant Reed,” Clinton said sourly. No wonder it had taken a while, the Feds had routed his call all the way to Luna II. “I was wondering if you could tell me what you know about this,” he continued, flipped the photo over to show Reed the incomplete MS leg.

Reed narrowed his eyes. “I see. Wherever did you find that?” He asked.

“United Steel.”

“Really. And why, exactly, were your agents in an EFF owned facility?”
>>
>>23618527

“’EFF Owned’?” Clinton said, bristling, “The Riah Republic allowed the Earth Federation to maintain one outpost, ONE, for purpose of diplomatic liaison. The Riah Republic has never extended diplomatic immunity to either the EFF or the Archduchy of Zeon. We fully intend to hold you responsible for any and all actions, on base, in dock, or on our streets. Riah-“

“-Has trespassed onto EFF owned property, photographed a classified military project, and is in clear collaboration with the Zeon aggressors,” Reed said with a bored tone. “My word, I do believe this means you’ve violated your so called ‘Neutrality’, haven’t you?”

Clinton knew a trap when he saw one, and replied, “I do not understand. I have brought clear evidence that your government has violated our Neutrality agreement, and this is your response? You claim Riah has broken the agreement? When the EFF has been building a weapon of mass destruction on our neutral colony for an unknown period of time?” He waited a moment, but when no response was evident, he continued, “Just who do you think you’re fooling?”

“I can clearly see I won’t be able to move you from your position,” Reed said in a neutral tone, “I can only advise you on what it means to make an enemy of the Earth Federation Forces.”

Clinton was aghast. “Are we even having the same conversation, Lieutenant?” he asked, chills running down his spine. The code was meant to disable recording devices on his end, but on theirs? He knew his computer would be locked down, unable to accept commands until the conversation was over; which was why he had installed a small audio recorder under his desk some time ago. He nervously ran a hand through is hair, and placed his hand back on his desk next to the small red button affixed to the side of the computer, beyond the range of the video pickup.
>>
>>23618552

He pressed the button and resumed a neutral posture, hands clasped before himself. “What is it you want from Riah, Lieutenant Reed?” he asked.
The other man smiled. “I see you do understand your position.”

“I understand you’re building a mobile suit in neutral territory, and when confronted with that fact, you’ve threatened military action against said neutral territory,” Clinton said, watching Reed’s face carefully. When the other man gave no indication of something being amiss, he continued, “Now I want to know how the EFF intends to resolve this. Or, perhaps it would be better said as, what the EFF wants from Riah to cease and desist mobile suit development in our territory, and allow us to resume the fragile peace which the Riah Republic has tried so hard to maintain.”

Reed steepled his fingers, and tapped them together, smiling like a shark before issuing his demand.

Clinton Sherk stared at the man, his features falling in shock. He then reached out with his foot, and slammed the power button on his computer’s power strip off with his heel. The computer died, the image of the smug bastard snapping off.

Clinton reset the power strip, and once the computer was back up and out of the lockdown mode, he made another call.
