So yeah, this is the pre-game thread for the Primordial evo/civ game series. Calling all players, old and new to the Eastern continent, and discussing how we should start this thing/fun events that may happen in the East.

To recap the whole Primordial game line: this all started as an evo game with three creatures. We evolved them into a dizzying amount of varying creatures, and chose some of them to bear the gift of sentience. It was then we segue into their tribal stage game, which plays more like civ games of yore. We have completed the evolution games and the tribal rounds across four different continents; we are now nearing our third continent of the 'metal stage' rounds.

So. we have had two failures to use map efficiently in the past continents. now that i attempt to co-GM i also try to use the map to its fullest.

Central was the middle east/africa of primordial so what can we say about east? what could be the "setting" of east (not that we need one) or what kind of "feel" you get from it. Southern islands and mountains are largely empty and have alot of opportunities for recources and expansion but also dangers. southern jungles and volcanic mountains you know.

Long story short, big muscular race. Somewhere between 9-15 feet tall. Not sure on the actual number. They have bladed snouts, and a luminescent thingamabob on their forehead.

The one person who played a tribe of them before gave them a pretty chill culture. Surfing shark-rhino people. Of course, that's only one tribe.

Original player of the Gantu here. They are 15 ft. tall, with a slightly ferrous bone structure and massive upper body strength. The females look exactly the same as the males except for the plumbing and the nose horns, the females having a short, dull, rounded nose and no blade on the chin.

Their culture was based loosely on Polynesian (especially Hawaiian) culture with a large injection of surfer-bro beach-bum mentality.

Their religious practices are polytheistic, with an emphasis on the "sacred feminine", focusing on the aspects of fertility, bounty, maternal care, and the creation of life being foremost aspects of the head of the pantheon "Big Sister", or alternatively, "Mother Ocean". The ocean and sea is thus the home of their gods, as well as the original home of their race.

Their other gods are "Little Brother" the hunter god and the masculine counterpart of Big Sister. He is the sun god as well as the god of the hunt and of tests of strength. Where Big Sister is nurturing, Little Brother is challenging, demanding that Gantu rise to the occasion and persevere despite the odds.

They have metal spears, woodcarving (mostly of tikis, either representing the gods or famous ancestors and heroes), blacksmithing, little throwing stars (of a sort), a martial art emphasized on breaking bones, fishing nets lined with shark teeth, boats that use a buoyant creature called a "coastal boomer" to stay afloat (using them in a manner akin to a chariot), intricate tattoos, a form of surfing (using carved boards), as well as the domestication of a large elephant sized creature called a wooly boomer.

The metalworking mostly uses bronze, as copper and tin are abundant on the coast which they lay, and iron is scarce.

The trade of blacksmithing was taught to them by a friendly tribe called the Silith, a moon-worshiping race that discovered metal fairly early on, and such crafts are a core component of their worldview.

So yeah guys, back from college with some ideas for possible events in the East. (with some tl;dr)
-Skulcrow Intelligence (early game): In the Tribal stage, a hivemind organism called the Skulcrow plagued the land. They used the corpses of other creatures to make their bodies. Right at the end of Tribal stage, the Skulcrow hive mind has been destroyed... with a side effect of making individual skulcrows a bit more sentient. What effect will this have on the East's tribes and fledgling nations?
-Black Ice Enclave Colony (mid game): In the West Continent, arose an union of tribes called the Enclave during the tribal and civ stage, and some of them have managed to reach the northern parts of the East continent and settled there. What goods and technology would be traded by this colony and the other inhabitants of the continent? Will they even open up trade with them?
-New Vyrii Strain in the East (late game): the Enclave battled the dronelike creatures known as the Vyrii back in the West. They have managed to kill the hivemind of the Vyrii, but a few of the weakened Vyrii somehow managed to slip into the East unnoticed... and evolved. Will this be a new threat to the inhabitants of the East?
-Discovery of the Central continent (mid game): the Joorod nation of Ca'rethill have managed to sail the seas, and after contact with Enclave explorers they have traded with the West. But surely, they would have managed to discover the Central continent? Or will the Gantu claim the title of the first Easterners in Central? Or maybe some other tribe will?

First, we better list what civilizations there already are.
Might be a good idea to encourage use of factions within existing civs, unless people have a culture that they really want to develop.
>>
>>23660859
It might also be a good idea to talk about each civ's views on secession, whether hostile to the idea or not. This will be important in future dealings and also serve as important guides for writing the fluff of the new civ.

There is also the possibility of simple cultural drift happening between two sections of a civilization's realm.

Right you are. Now, these are the local tribes from the Tribal stage, listed by race:

Gantu:
-Mohu'awane (chill surfer dudes)

Skulk:
-Kaze (suffered a catastrophe and is welcomed into the Mohu'awane)
-Sama'Guchy (wanted to conquer fire)
-Zel'zaz'iel (lived in the subarctic swamps, refugees)

Joorod:
-Ca'rethill (sailors and martial artists)
-Friggan (sailors and traders)

Govkar:
-Gwiliak (superstitious marsh dwellers)
-Kharum (nomads)
-Silith (architectural blacksmiths)

At least, this is what I remembered. Anyone (or maybe the original player) care to expand/correct this?

I can throw some more info on Kharum. They are Govkar tribe that has same ancestors with Gwiliak tribe. Kharum embarked on great exodus to flee the horrible marsh and find new fertile land where they can live in peace. During their long journey they had to fight many dangers and became adept at killing bord derivate species ("tastes like chicken perk").

After long journey they met their distant relatives by chance and settled near the great falls west of marshes and lived there in peace for a while. There they learbed the way of explosives but they used them only little as weapons. In time some of the people wanted to continue their old tradition of exodus and embarked on another jouney to north. they disappeared into the cold wastes and no one knows what happened to them...

until in the western coast the onolkeshan colony of Black ice saw ragged band of strange nomads who carried exotic (primitive rocket based) weapons. The encounter with nomads was peaceful and the nomads stopped south of black ice for time being to live there.

Following up on that

The Kaze were pretty much annihilated, with survivors joining the gantu and bringing some knowledge of ship building, as well as a boost in population and workers.

Sama'Guchy player dropped off the radar

Zel'Zaz'iel became the Za'siel i think...ill have to look it up. They built a minor alliance with the Kaduk of the Gwiliak tribe. Tainted by skulcrow lemuy they are now a fledgling member of the enclave.

Ca'rethill- isolationist, built a giant ass wall. Trades with the friggan

Friggan- Were recruited by the enclave early on, acted as eyes and ears. Ended up becoming a contributor to the criminal element within the western continent via immigration and rapid breeding.

Gwiliak- controls a large swath of the swamp and a former kharum territory when they made a mass exodus north. founded a cabal of augmented warriors known as the kaduk. Trades with the enclave but wishes no part of them in the long run.

Kharum- migrated north to the "promised land". Made contact with an Onolkeshan settlement. Time will tell. Expert combatants and explosive knowledge.

Silith- Knowledge of magnets, going so far as to use them for compasses, and floating buildings. Skilled in metal work, but in ritual knowledge. Access to a lethal form of metal that kills it's user over time.

----

new factions:
Enclave East: undermanned, many lem took the first ship back to the mainland for the war effort. Lacking supplies, and indeed implored to provide supplies for the war effort they face many challenges including a lack of the usual building materials and technology. Determined to maintain the great work.

Silver tree cult- An offshoot of the vyrii has resulted in an "infected" swath of forest and augmented joorod worshippers. Motives unknown.

Onolkeshan black ice settlement- freak accident left one of the largest enclave warships beached. A settlement is springing up around it.

Skulcrows- now sentient zombie like creatures.
>>
>>23662013
ill dig up some images, it will take me a moment. Vyrii are very adaptable nanomachine based organisms. This particular strand operates at both an individual and hive mind level. When it began assimilating sentient joorods it gained a concept of emotion and feeling. This caused it to change how it operated.

if we have any fresh starts that is the way to go.
---
We have an abundance of existing tribes, and they are starting to grow large, as well as the newcomers. I'll be running the Za'siel and Enclave East, I suspect onol has Blackice and Kharum. Fortune is likely to return with the Gantu and Nad the Gwiliak. Notrip is likely to return with the ca'rethill.

This leaves the Silith, skulcrows, and Silver tree cult in the air. I believe the Silith were ran by Solomon.

Anyway, let me get off my tangent about that. So lets say you are a new player and want to carve out a name for yourself. Well, you can start from scratch, or select an unclaimed tribe and take it in a direction you see fit, or we enter into a new and exciting realm of Sub factions.

Example: Gantu- fortune primarily plays the gantu, but there are many aspects to that tribe, including immigrant skulks. You could form a band of warriors, or architects or anything, and develop their story, either work with the main tribe, or attempt to break off.

Example in practice: The enclave had a player who played as a criminal element within it's city, as GM i provided conflict from other gangs, local "police" and eventually led them into conflict with another "criminal" (they were pirates) organization in the form of another player. This group went on to become a major syndicate, one of several. Eventually they contributed towards a major war and gained a semi legitimate status within the government. all about what you wanna do. We also had engineers who just fixed and build the cities. was fun.

>>23662536
It's interesting to note that, as the Gantu expand, there may be some cultural drift between villages, providing an opportunity for new folks to come in and play as these outlying towns. The Gantu are a chill bunch, so any 'secession' will hardly be an issue, and may not even occur, becoming two factions of the same nation.

Ca'rethill
A civilization with inspiration taken from the ancient Chinese, feudal-era Japan, and vikings.

They have polytheistic beliefs, recognizing two deities. Twin children who created the world. The two godlings aren't very revered. More often, cursed for bringing misfortune upon the people of Ca'rethill. These beliefs are tied to both the active imaginations of children, and their rambunctiousness. Self discipline is valued in their society, but not so much as it has been in the past. Since orphans have no parents to give them a proper upbringing, they are often shunned due to the belief that they'll turn out as cruel brats like the gods.

Their rulership is a form of stratocracy, or military government.

Construction is mostly done with stone, boomer skin, and thatch. Wood is somewhat rare along the coastal plains, and must be transported from over a long distance to the north or west.

Despite many avid explorers hailing from their lands, they themselves are walled off to outsiders. Generations of attacks made by Aggrods in the past gave them a focus on keeping out anything unwanted.
The greatest achievement of them is perhaps their shipbuilding (See OP's picture). The mufti-purpose vessels are used mostly for fishing and trade, but can very well be used ferrying warriors and in naval battles if need be. When there is no wind to catch the sails or if it's not fast enough, they are equipped with oars.

Well, in that case, for new blood who want to make their own faction! The requirements are simple:

4) a location on the map for the faction's capital or HQ

The Gwiliak nation is ruled by six families, that originate from the key members of the tribe that helped to shape it during the formative years of the nation.
Each of these families have different roles in the nation, though competition between them is quite commonplace.
The families are as follows: (Final names might change, thus far they are named by the founding member.)

Nufa's family:
Traders and merchants, they are the most outwardly projecting of the families, as they often trade and associate with other tribes of the continent. They also have large bookkeeping archives and they run relatively sophisticated "banking" system across the whole nation.
Due to their blood ties, they also have greatest influence in the river lands, and the mountain areas the Gwiliak inherited from the Kharum when those who decided to stay instead of move on, joined the Gwiliak.

Daki's family:
The most militaristic family, which favors strength and focuses heavily on the defense of the Gwiliak nation. They oversee the training of the Gwiliak militia and elite warriors, and during times of peace, they often participate in hunts to feed their people. They are very adamant about keeping intruders out of the marshes, and thus, they are perhaps the most xenophobic of the families. Their interest in the riverlands is low, as they see the area as an unruly and lawless place, where only problems exist. They have a traditional rivalry with Nufa's family, that somewhat imitates the rivalry the two siblings had in their youth. They are usually also the "leader" family in the council, though they do not rule over the nation in a despotic fashion. Their, sometimes even harsh, rules and decisions are all born from the urge to protect the Gwiliak as a whole.

>>23683324

Jun's family:
The artisans, gatherers and farmers of the tribe. They provide the food, clothing, and other utility materials for the nation, and they have almost a sole monopoly on the food production of the Gwiliak. When the fisher village of the coastal areas was incorporated to the tribe during the aftermath of the Skulcrow war, Jun's family was quick to adopt this new method of food production into their fold.
Perhaps the most important family, in a sense, as without them, the Gwiliak nation would grind to a quick halt, due to supply issues. They favor modesty and co-operation, and usually are quite keen keeping the ties between the families strong.

Macia's family:
They are the family which raises and trains the numerous gohrok servants of the Gwiliak nation, along with other quite useful fauna the Gwiliak have started utilizing in their society. They are the beast masters of the nation and their Gohrok husbandry also gives them a large supply of shed gohrok plates, that can be used in armor. They use the Gohroks in construction work, clearing the rivers of the marsh from clogs, guards and so on. Though the Gohroks might seem like primitive beasts, they are treated as full members of the family.

Niru's family:
The "engineers" of the nation. They are responsible for overseeing the construction of the more sophisticated technologies of the nation, such as the disk launchers and the armors. They also oversee the continuing project to cultivate the marshes and manipulate it's growth in ways that further benefit the nation. They have many workshops scattered across the marshes, constructing various tools and devices for the Gwiliak to use.

>>23683347

Nar's family:
The "scientists" of the nation. This family focuses heavily on finding new ways to utilize the marshes to the advantage of the Gwiliak, as well as further refining the already existing technologies of the Gwiliak. Nar's and Niru's families co-operate heavily, and they are often regarded as a singular entity, by the other families.

The seventh faction of the Gwiliak are the Kaduk warriors, who are sworn to protect the govkar people everywhere. They are warrior poets, who travel across the lands, often working as advisers, teachers and trainers in villages, along with solving conflicts and in general, maintaining the peace and unity of Gwiliak people. They also offer their protection to govkar tribes outside of Gwiliak, as they consider themselves the universal protectors of the Govkar people, but they are still heavily tied to the marshes and the Gwiliak, due to their history.

There are also other groups and factions that have a degree of autonomy while still operating under the Gwiliak banner.
The most significant of these factions is the City located a the mountains, where the members of the Kharum who chose to stay behind live. They are members of the Gwiliak nation, but they have very differing traditions and customs, and they operate with a great degree of autonomy. They have strong ties to Nufa's family, due to blood ties.
Other factions include smaller tribes that were absorbed by the Gwiliak, whose culture and traditions still live on. Gwiliak nation mostly just expects certain resources like food to be given in exchange of the protection and services they themselves provide to these minor tribes.

I have a serious lack of ability to edit a wiki but here are skulks and how they work.

start: Skulks developed around the big crescent in east that was once an underground cavern system prior to it's roof caving in. What was in it? Lem'uy microbes. See, the Lem'uy were once a major form of life on the planet, their spores were everywhere, but black dawn (an old event) eradicated them off the face of the planet and the next lem based life form was descendent from a simple cave dwelling creature that was an offshoot of the Lem'uy.

The microbes left in that cavern were essentially a heavily degraded version of the original lem'uy spores, and in a sense a small legacy of the originals. At a genetic level they are too damaged to recover though. The plants growing above and around them made good hosts. Biomass would twist and melt onto it's neighbors. Over many generations the most common plants ended up as one hybridized plant that required the microbe to be stable, without it would die. The plant provided an environment in which the microbe could flourish outside the cavern system which was similar in atmosphere to the old world.

Flash forward as the plants keep evolving, twisting, and taking shape, developing mobility, becoming inseparable from the microbes and vice versa. Sentience, communication, culture.
>>
>>23697922
Biologically skulks are highly adaptable and the lemuy portion of them is receptive to other lem'uy based material, though they are unaware of this.

Skulks can and do consume flesh to maintain mass, grow, and for energy. Plant biomass will provide some energy, but also is used to repair damage, or grow as well. In the case of the skulks this new material is added to their own and they literally become what they eat. Most skulks have a strong aversion to salt water, though there is a strain that has consumed enough aquatic vegetation to develop an immunity.

These changes can also effect how a skulk works biologically and look visually. Most skulk tribes will maintain a "mother tree" where they attach their near dead so they can live on, sharing their knowledge and memories, overtime fusing into the tree entirely to become a sort of living library of the past, as well as becoming a birthing center for new skulks to grow, almost like fruit. Some skulks will simply shed seeds after cross pollinating or asexual reproduction. Those that survive will eventually emerge from the ground as new skulk nymphs, and again depending on parentage you can result with many results. A sexual is essentially a clone of the parent. Cross pollination can get a wide degree of results depending on if the parents are from the same tribe, or different. The mother tree creates unique individuals, but standardized to the tribes genetic template and created from a slurry of the whole of the tree.

As skulks adapt in their own life during the formative years by what they eat, environmental stressors and other factors.
>>
>>23698062
Skulks developed in swampy territory, in an antagonistic relationship with the govkar type species, both species hunting the other. Skulks release pheromones that can effect creatures who use such chemical cuing within their own species. This results in a slightly more pliant mindset over time and is useful to them, though they are unaware of this. This would lead govkar to think of skulks as witches.

Onward to Skulcrows.
Skulcrows are a highly corrupted and degraded variant of the lem'uy microbe. Similar to the southern continent emils, though much less mobile on their own. They are also the exception to the rule of lem'uy hating bord nanotech. They get along quite well with a few strains. Initially the Skulcrows would form from the dessicated corpses of skulks. Once dried the corrupted lem'uy would spread, overcome the old microbial colonies and re purpose the body into a shambling monstrosity. Quickly they adapted with the nanotech to communicate and manipulate other forms of plant matter, eventually creating slime pools of the corrupted lem'uy where destroyed skulcrow husks and other plant matter would be dumped. These pools also acted as a recharging center for existing skulcrows, and reinforced the hive mind.

As they began to make contact with other life forms it became apparent they could desiccate other beings, even flesh animals to serve as hosts. This would often be done by impalement on a spike and being left in the sun for a few weeks or so.
---
During the peak of their hostility the Govkar tribes, in assitance with the kaduk, a tribe of skulks, and a small contingent of enclave attacked back. Killing the skulcrows was quite hard, as the corpses would simply shamble back to the reclamation pits to be reconstructed. Fire worked but was hard to maintain in the swamp and required large swaths of forest to be incinerated. It was figured out that skulk blood of the Za'siel tribe had a profound effect on skulcrows.
>>
>>23698157
this blood was added to the spawning pits, and each time a skulcrow returned would be infected. What it did was give a measure of individuality, for some simple animal intelligence, for others, full sentience, and many, somewhere in between. In fighting began and the tribes were able to breath easy.

but why did that work? Lem'uy. The Za'siel were a tribe tainted by the corrupted lem'uy of the skulcrows and survived. They just returned the favor. This added onto the genetic material of the skulcrows and interfered with normal operations, changing them. Completing them a bit. Now they are struggling with individuality, sentience, and all the problems that come with that.
----
On skulk and skulcrow blood: It is a thick, thick goo/ gel. Cut them and it will ooze out for a moment before creeping back into them.
----
On Lem'uy: All "lem" based organisms are corruptions of the original form, but each one contains portions of the "code" that made the first lem'uy, the pure ones. However they are all operating off of a modified or corrupted base, depending on how you want to look at it, so they cannot re-create the lemuy, as not all the information is there, or in its original state, but they can potentially improve or change themselves.

So far this has been expressed three times.

Ta'mirel lem- eradicate the Western Lem thresher giants via genocide, and consume them. This new genetic material eventually started to manifest itself in defects or alterations during their cellular division for reproduction. Minor benefits were also gained like a clearer recall of compressed memory.

Zel'Za'Siel skulks/ skulcrows- Leading member of the tribe was infected, but survived skulcrow contact. Returned and infected the rest of the tribe. Gained the "whisper", which was in reality a nanotech tolerance and communication. able to spy on skulcrow, control isolated drones, and hide in their presence to a degree. The Za'siel then went on to return the favor to the skulcrows.
>>
>>23698216
The Govkar can give birth to "mutant" children. In acuality the same microbes that exist in skulks also exist in govkar to a much smaller degree. Sometimes a child is born with a higher concentration, and will exhibit lem like features. A third eye, more tentacles, etc. That would be ground for death at birth. In more reccent history the Za'Siel and a small faction of the Gwiliak would take these individuals and further alter them with infusions of Lem'uy "blood" from the Za'siel skulks. This would result in massively increased strength and longevity, and more often then not a resulting sterility and change to mind.

To discourage the infanticide the govkar tribes would be paid a small tithing for each mutant child given to the kaduk, as they were in actuality a valuable resource.

The Kaduk dress in concealing body armor to hide all mutations aside from their gigantism.

TL/DR

Skulks can look, behave, reproduce, and operate how you want them to within reason.

TL/DR pt 2.
Bord nanotech, and lem microbes account for a lot of "MAGIC" within this world, and are often antagonistic to each other, based off of the old Lem/ Vyrii hostility.
>>
>>23698216
Still doesn't seem possible for a small tribe to hunt down every Giant Lem in West.
>>
>>23698325
I did it for a few reasons. We always leave something alive, its never outright destroyed. Back then, it was kind of a punctuation.

Also at that time I was playing the Ta'mirel as more then a small tribe. They had grown quite large and spent a very long time eradicating that threat. The Giant lems were also supposed to be very hostile, but very few in number. It wasnt exactly hard to find them, as they would congregate around population centers for easy prey, as well as leading a solitary lifestyle.

In the end the legacy of the Giant lem is bubbling around inside the current enclave lem.
>>
one thing to settle on for east is the population we are starting with for each tribe. I would say it can vary to high degrees, some tribes just dont grow as fast or at all, but it should be fitting of the territory and power you claim

correct, but here it is in detail

Lem'uy had no natural predators and occupied a niche where they ate parasites, detritus, and tended to plants. They themselves made oxygen in small amounts, as well as constantly releasing spores. All lem'uy were bio luminescent. The planet had an absurdly high oxygen content. It rained alot, and at night you could see the clouds glowing faintly due to the spore content within them. On the ground would cling dense spore fog about a foot high, unless in low valleys or caves where the spores would choke them, creating a habitat suitable only for lem'uy. Plants grew rapidly and well. Safe to say, probably beautiful, a little humid and wet, but pristine.

However all that oxygen and nothing to burn. Global tectonic activity created erruptions, released flammable and toxic gas into the skies to the point where the very atmosphere burned, engulfing the world in an expanding ring of fire. After that the skies were choked with ash and the world froze.

Only the hardiest of life forms survived, or those in the best situated areas. The massive frilla trees endured by virtue of being fucking huge, and still getting sunlight.

Times were tough.

There seems to be some confusion here, the Gwiliak are a nation of Govkar's located at the great marshes of the eastern continent. The marshes themselves are located at the eastern end of the great river that bisects the northern areas of the eastern continent. The southeastern peninsula is quite far away from the marshes.
And besides, the Gwiliak nation only includes govkars, who are traditionally quite suspicious of the Skulks.

The social system of your tribe seems good though.

I know that Skulks and Gantu have sexual dimorphism, but what about Govkars and Joorods (outside of some minor anthropomorphism)?

Bord Space Ma- Super Soldier!
>>
>>23718511
I think it is something that could be discussed here. Govkars being repto-insects may have very little, but Joorod are avian and probably have some sort of coloration or plumage difference between male and female.

Possible male female govkar variations
-longer tentacles
-more tentacles
-bigger crushing claws
-additional pair of arms that are tiny for grabbing during mating like a shark's special fins.

joorod
-plumage
-spur claw like a rooster
-different beaks
- MULTIPLE HEADS
>>
>>23719533
One major difference for Govkars could be abdomen size.
I forget, do they lay eggs or not?

As for Joorods, I don't think that they should be any more bird-like than they already are. Along with many other races, there could simply be slight differences in their physique.

In general, the both female and male govkars are very similar. The males are slightly more armored and muscular, in addition to possessing more prominent head crest. The easiest way to tell govkar genders apart is by examining their abdomen, which on females is visibly larger than on male. The abdomen's size is due to the fat reserves and reproductive organs that it houses. The females need to be able to develop their eggs that are around the size of a fist inside their abdomen, whereas males just have to house their reproductive organs there.
Females usually lay clutches of up to six eggs.

The head tentacles of the govkars are very sensitive, prehensile multipurpose sensory organs, that help the creatures survey their surroundings better. They also help the govkars control their body heat, as their chitinous body is very poor at venting heat otherwise. The govkar are warm blooded you see, and as their body heats up, the open skin of their head tentacles, filled with tiny blood veins, is very efficient at venting the heat away.

The head tentacles are also used in social bonding, family members will often entwine and caress each other's tentacles, which reinforces their bonds.

hey nongent here, since I GM more often then not, I take full credit (Blame) for the state of the game's "current" world.

South continent: geologically active, and crisscrossed with endless tunnel systems.

Currently: A large portion of it has broken off due to tectonic action and drifted away a bit. This is the Altume/ Nod/ Whatever territory.

The puruu dug a trench to the ocean that flooded a major tunnel system, but not all tunnel systems. This resulted in many subterranean creatures coming to the surface, as well as the lufae having to adapt. and probably beating a certain other tribe from flooding the tunnels first.

The far south western corner of the continent is volcanically active, spewing out ash, smoke, and the occasional lava flow. This mixes with the local weather to form black rain which helps to nourish the blung, and fuck with the southern most tribes.

((wont find the black rain reference anywhere, but i figured with the volcanoes and rain, it was a given.))

Oh god, thanks for that, I was so confused by the way he put it. Must have been some trench that the brown puruu dug. When did that happen, I must have missed it.

From the looks of the archives, the aforementioned "Brown Pudding" Of the Urupuruu went north along the great fissure trying to find a way to stop the demils from besieging one of their towns. They found the edge of the abyss was near an ocean and decided that flooding the abyss would stop the demils(?)

The influx of water set off a geological chain reaction and volcanoes suddenly appeared, and South Continent broke in half ((not sure how all of that is connected though, maybe it wasn't and I just read everything wrong))

BASIC HISTORICAL OVERVIEW

The Silith, or "Children of the Spirits," are a techno-religious civilization consisting of arguably the finest blacksmiths, masons and craftsmen on the continent. Originally a simple hunter-gatherer tribe to the south of the Govkar's ancestral marshes, a disastrous attempt to tame fire resulted in the immolation of their village, the surrounding countryside, and their tribal Elder. As a result of this holocaust the Silith became a wandering people, embarking on an exodus to the north, where they eventually came upon what would eventually become the first city on the continent, Muskato. Upon settling down the Silith began a technological revolution urged on by their religious beliefs, mastering everything from metallurgy to agriculture, masonry to magnetism.

Today the Silithi people are a people divided; some elements within the Silithi government seek to impart their knowledge on the rest of the continent (most notable of which are the southern Gantu, whom the Silith have long-since had a "special relationship" with,) while others wish to hoard their discoveries and use them for their own advantages.

BIOLOGY

The Silith are Govkar much like the Gwiliak, although possessing minor cosmetic differences. For starters, their carapace is red, and growing darker by the generation due to selective breeding. A second change is their lack of mandibles, removed at a young age as a sign of their elevation above simple animalistic predators (similar to the carapace, their mandibles as a consequence are getting smaller and more vestigial with each generation.) Finally, many Silith apply bio-luminescent moss to their bodies, some going so far as to etch their chitin and apply the paste within the engravings (all changes are noticeable in pic related.)

(Continued)
>>
>>23726443

CULTURE AND RELIGION

Silithi culture is caste-based, with craftsmen and priests making up the highest rung. Indeed to be a priest in Silithi culture is to also be a craftsman; the production of goods (particularly metal) is seen as a form of religious service, possibly because the Silith use bodies to fuel their forges and supply them with the much needed minerals used in the production of steel (of course the Silithi don't know this, they believe the steel is strong because they're infusing a soul into the metal.)

Beyond production, the Silith are tireless researchers, having discovered many technologies or production techniques centuries (or in some cases, millenia) ahead of schedule by Human standards; magnetism for example is something well-known to the Silith, being used for everything from building materials to a crude form of mag-lifts. Most of these devices have yet to find a military application, considering the Silith are famously poor fighters. In fact, the only saving grace they really have militarily is their superior arms and armor, but as the rest of the races begin to catch up the Silith will either have to improve as a fighting force, continue to maintain their cutting-edge, or a combination of both.

Diplomatically the Silith are a wary and distrustful people, brought on by centuries of isolation following the Exodus. They maintain formal trade agreements with the Gwiliak to the north, and an implicit friendship with the Gantu to the south (the only true "friends" they have thus far.)

Man, where are the new guys at? Come on, you can be anything you want! Well, almost anything, but a wide range of factions anyways.
You can even try at being the 'antagonist' factions (silver tree cult, newly sentient skulcrows)!

Or maybe if there is critique or suggestions, I'm also open to that.
>>
>>23731920
Were we allowed to play as factions from other continents, maybe I'd be interested.

I mean, at this stage of civilization, you can't possibly be suggesting that no one has discovered sailing yet. At the very least South and Central would have landed somewhere on East
>>
>>23732615
Well, at this point the only foreigners on the East continent would be the Enclave races (from the West; Lem, Frowg, Tentouz), and in a small amount since we're picking up where tribal left off. And at the ending of Tribal, South is still out of the Enclave's reach.
Thus, if you really want to play as the foreigners, best bet would be the Enclave scouts/outposts, which would be few in number.

Although, as the thread progresses, arrivals from West and Central might come, so you might start as the Enclave and ended up a multicultural melting pot. But it all falls down to the choices you make, and which side the dice rolls...

tl;dr: lemme hear the concept first, then I'd see if we can either make it fit or not.
>>
>>23732728
South Continent the Altume tribe developed large caravels and navigated most of that continents northwestern shores. Altume races should be playable.

They traded sailing technology to the Urupuruu, who have been sailing around the inner sea. Possibly puruu might be playable.

If I'm not mistaken, there is a civilization of seafaring Nad'lun who may have contacted parts of East's eastern shores.

The Frowgs may be in the north, as viking-esque as they are, also seeing as how the distance from continent to continent isn't that far at such high latitudes

The Lem, being awesome and intelligent aliens, should definately have figured out where East continent is. I mean, after all this IS the impact sight for the meteor that brought them here, isn't it?

My case and points for many different races.
>>
>>23732806
Lem and Frowg is already in the Enclave, so they get info about the East from Enclave sources.
As for the other races, the Nad'Lun have managed to reach Central, but not yet reached the East by the end of their first Civ Stage round. The Altume and Urupuruu might not even know where East is, much less make a colony.
The Tentouz from Central has some of their numbers join the Enclave, so you might have Tentouz in the East along with the Enclave.

But yeah, tell me your faction's idea first, and we might weave a suitable background for them.
>>
>>23732875
Would it be much of a jump to think that Elenii or Puruu traders might be blown off course and find themselves in the islands south of East Continent?

My tribe idea is just that. We'll go with puruu because it's easier to explain how a puruu civ might become fully populated after a shipwreck.

So puruu explorers, while sailing around on South Continent, where blow off course by a freak-a-nature storm. Their ship crashed on one of the islands south of East Continent, and the puruu became stranded. Using the timbers from their broken ship, the managed to construct some crude houses and set up a spawning pool ((I mean, surely they realized that they are going to be there for a while))

Though small in population, but armed with endgame tribal tech from South Continent, these lost puruu are perfect candidates to become players on the stage of East Continent.

Taking up a name

If the original guy from the Urupuruu could give me the go ahead, I'll gladly make a symbol and name for the new tribe.

>>23733116
Just start asking questions man. These guys seem pretty relaxed.
>>
>>23732615
the continents rotate, so most players have 4 tribes. you are correct, a few factions have discovered sailing, but few actually applied it to open oceans.

This form of round robin lets players advance their tribes. I do have plans for one tribe from east to be present in the next session of south though.

I dont think myself too unreasonable, but at the same time I dont beat around the bush saying maybe. Maybe often ends up with a player that I spend a lot of time working for to make something happen, then ends up leaving after a day or two. Kinda sounds non committal, not to scare you off.

These games will often go between 2-4 weeks stretching across multiple threads. The pacing can be slow or fast with each player's story being paced by them and the GM, its only when players discover and start interacting with each other that there is regulation when needed.

So, to start this: Have you played before? Have you dredged through the lore or archives, do you have something specific in mind, or what is it in particular that you dont like about the existing offering that inhibits you from making the tribe you want. Finally, do you have the "commitment" to make like one post every day or so? Last one isn't too hard. I work and go to school, still find time to be married and GM a game on 4chan. like a boss.

Rightye here from grorious Urupuruu

I'll okay the idea as long as you promise to do justice to Puruu species. We may be small, but mountains shall crumble beneath our many hands!
>>
>>23732930
and i see that post now. seems like puruu are your thing then.

As for the Urupuruu, while i appreciate your respect. Go ahead and claim that tribe as your "foundation". As for tech, I would like some more story on what sort of ship it was, how many on it, and who was there. All the available technology might not be know by the immediate crew. However, I think you have the foundation for an excellent RP scenario, building up a settlement, trading with foreigners, working with unfamiliar resources, and possibly contacting home.

In short, you are very close to having something very good here.
>>
>>23733224
Very well then.

I hereby proclaim the founding of the Phrogean puruu, traders from the great Urupuruu tribe of the south.

After many days aboard their trading vessel, the "Phrogeas", the former traders and guards of the Urupuruu shipment of metals were on a return trip from an Altume trading post. A freak storm, sweeping up from the great delta network, threw the trading vessel off course, pushing them north and west until they found themselves aground on foreign shores.

The trade vessel was carrying shipments of purite, tame lasbord, as well as the ever valuable glass from the Altume. Their ship, a small and light craft, is stripped down to provide shelter for the stranded puruu. The first thing on their agenda is establishing a Spawning Pool, something they do in a rather timely fashion. After this, the many Phrogean puruu begin building temporary homes under the watchful gaze of Captain Repu, former captain of the "Phrogeas". Small huts, partially buried in the sand, are constructed using bits from the wrecked ship and giant leaves.

So at this point, I have access to metals, a mating pair of tamed, ride-able lasbords, some purite hammers(clubs?) from the ship guards, and maybe some other hidden stuff cached away in the remains of the shipwreck. We have no knowledge of where we are or what kind of stuff is around us, so as not to meta-game my position, I'll have to ask the GMs to place my civ on a random island.

My symbol will be up in a second.

About the Skulcrows do they all hate the other races or is it possible for them to just be neutral?
>>
>>23734146

Well, the skullcrows didn't develop sentience naturally and they gained it very recently
. They were basically plant zombies, but then that one skulk tribe introduced their own blood into their spawning pools, which caused them to develop their sentience or something.
So I guess that the skullcrows are now pretty confused about their own existence. Previously they had only been doing what was instinctual and natural to them, with no thoughts behind it, but now they have minds, well at least some of them have.

I doubt that every single skullcrow now has sentience. There are probably still many normal skullcrows around, in remote places and so on. The thing is that just one skullcrow can, with enough time and plant matter, create a new horde of skullcrows. They do not reproduce sexually.
The horde which gained sentience was just the one that had basically grown in numbers great enough to threaten the tribes of the continent. By granting them sentience, their hivemind was broken, and the horde was shattered, but this was not an even that affected the whole species.
It basically created a sentient sub species of the otherwise feral and very dangerous skullcrows, which still probably linger all around the eastern continent.

Hows this for a Skulcrow tribe.
To the newly sentient Skulcrow the hive mind seemed as if it was a god. To these Skulcrow there god must have grown angry. He sent messengers(the skulk that infected them) to break them off from him. This was a terrifying time, with much infighting. A group of sentient rose up and took some of there less intelligent brothers south. After settling they created a breeding pool, which is a symbol of there god as well as how they reproduce. Now they have to deal with there sentients, being abandoned by there god and survival. Anybody have input I don't have a name for them yet or a symbol but ill come up with one soon. Also does any body have any pictures of skulcrows.

This game is about building History. At least that's how I see it. I take bits and pieces from history, uprisings, religions, cultures, and twist them to fit our bunch of aliens. Sometimes I go a little original (Bones worship, service to a giant sentient coral reef) but I try to stay a little on the realistic side if I find myself going to crazy.... unless it's crazy AWESOME. Once you have a good base for whatever culture or nation you want to play as, i suggest taking events that come your way and using them to shape your nation/group/band of warriors/whatever.

if you want to learn how to actually play (rolls, setting up a culture) join us on our IRC channel http://mibbit.com/?channel=%23EVO&server=irc.thisisnotatrueending.com. They're better at this than me.

During the war of skulkrow aggression the enclave was obligated to protect the za'siel tribe as a condition of their recruitment. Seeking and gaining permission from the nearby gwiliak tribe and individual settlements the enclave exploratory force built 4 cannon forts in the region from local materials and their own knowledge on the border of the Gwiliak territory and Skulcrow territory. They were used to house alert troops from both sides of the temporary alliance, as well as a trading depot for the locals. Post war the enclave has largely abandoned all but the closest one of them, leaving them in the care of the Gwiliak after stripping the most dangerous or sensitive aspects of them. A rapidly approaching reality is that they are slowly sinking into the soft and swampy ground by about a foot a year.

Either as Co, or full GM, a few events I have planned out, a few ideas I have for the game. time permitting, ill do my best.

This will pick up about half a generation after the end of the last eastern game. Life has had time to stabilize, old projects have been finished or refined, populations and trade have grown.

I encourage active adptation and participation in the game, if you are not interacting with other players, then please focus on growth and expansion in some form or another. Your goal is not only to have a good time here, but to contribute to the setting. A well written and culturally developed small town is in the end, still a small town, and leaves next to no lasting mark in the history or lore. Unless you are a total bad ass about it.

Limitations are usually left in the hands of the players and their own role play. I will never allow another player to attack and/ or destroy another PC tribe without mutual own consent. During conflicts I will moderate results based on the role play and perceived capabilities of both tribes.

tribe A has a mass breeding program for child soldiers, but tribe B has life long warriors, fewer in number but exceptionally well armed and versed in unconventional warfare. Sorta stuff like that.

Finally, some events that may come your way depending on how things go, some may be for everyone, some will be tailored to specific players. Each player will get at least one specific event to deal with in addition to general events.

Ragas infestation - airborn or weaponized.
Vyrii Infestation - airborn or weaponized.
Katumoiset/ Blung infestation - cancer star colony ships.
Traveling merchants trading new knowledge
natural disasters
plentiful seasons
The lem's interest in lem'uy knowledge, lore, artifacts, or samples.
The Syndicate smugglers/ traders (black ships/ black carts) - where there are joorod, and enclave, so too is there the syndicate.
Nad'lun explorers/ traders - little empire is growing.

Some stuff about the Gwiliak tech:

Most of the equipment and technology of the Gwiliak is heavily based on the organic resources they harvest from the marshes. Their cloths are made from ngung silk, they utilize dahon poisons in medicine (small dozes are potent pain killers), natural gas and sunlight to heat their water, azrach sap as a binding agent and so on.
From their basic tools to their iconic disk launcher weapons, almost all the technology of the Gwiliak are made out of stuff they gather from the marshes.

They also have surprisingly developed infrastructure, which includes warm water piping, canopy walkways, educational institutions, simple water mills and automated knitting machinery. They have also started actively directing the growth of the azrach marshes, planting the trees in places where they will in time prove beneficial to the nation, by either forming natural canopy paths, or directing water flow to another direction and so on.

In general, to an outsider, the Gwiliak seem to be quite primitive people, lacking the obvious signs of higher civilization, such as open agriculture, extensive animal husbandry, smithing and so on. The Gwiliak do not clear away the marshes to establish settlements, as they know how to utilize the marsh to their advantage, without fighting against it.
They do not need to utilize the more "advanced" technologies, based on stone, fire and metal, as their marshes already provide them with the tools they need to survive.
In a sense, one could compare the Gwiliak to wood elves. They live seemingly in a "harmony" with the marshes, and are very xenophobic to outsiders. Unwelcome intruders in the marshes will quickly face a patrol of Higitan riders ready to escort him/her out of the marsh.

So, are there any questions about the Gwiliak that people would like to ask?
>>
>>23756521
Can they support large numbers without wide spread agriculture? Do they not have any agriculture at all?
>>
>>23758184

The Gwiliak "farm" swamp vindras for their tubers. They basically just allow them to grow naturally in the wet soil, and harvest the tubers regularly.
Before the invention of cooking, the tubers weren't that nutritious to the govkar, as their digestive track could not properly handle most of the hard plant matter. With boiling water however, the tubers can be cooked and made far more edible.

The Gwiliak also fish and hunt for their food, and their culture values personal hunting skills. which means that there are many hunters to provide for the nation.

They can sustain a relatively large population, whose maximum size hasn't even been reached yet. Though, on the long run, a more traditional agriculture will probably be able to sustain larger population than the Gwiliak.
>>
>>23758628
Well, it sounds like wars aren't there thing since an absent portion of the population might adversely affect food production more than in more agriculturally developed societies. That will make diplomacy difficult since the threat of war hold little actual danger, since war might be very costly for you.

They chase a young gohrok slave that they've befriended, playing a simple game of tag as their parents barter with each other beneath the shade of an awning, the gohrok relieved of duty for the moment. Smells waft through the air to them as they run along the stone streets that lead from the square, going far from their parents, but gohrok is smart enough to run back after several blocks, and brings the children back without having been caught, stopping at the corner of the street that leads from the market to the palace. Winded but happy, the children congratulate their new friend as an old stranger approaches. He sits down on old stone bench, cracked and mossy, and sets down a large leather pack covered with pockets.
>>
>>23761833

His eyes wide, his limbs shaking, the youngest, most timid of the kids feels something calling him to this old man. He tugs on travelers left claw, eliciting a chuckle from the old man. He looks down with large, ring rimmed eyes, and says, "A little shy aren't we?" The child squeals, and runs back to his older sister, who glares at the old man. Seeing the upset girl he waves them to come forward with a hearty laugh. A few presents from his pack later, and soon the whole gaggle of youngsters sits around him, thoughts of play gone as they listen to his stories. The traveller reveals he's one of the Abotan, the traveling priests of the gods of the Riklun. He spends his days in the Southlands, teaching the Unenlightened of the gods and how to follow the path of Kolumat. Today though, he does not proselytize. After a few questions, it's clear the children are well educated by their parents, and respect and obey the gods, and honor their ancestors.

The Abotanot tells the children instead of their past, their history. He starts with the people that lived in the Valley before the Riklun. They tended the land as the Riklun do now, built towns, had their fights. But generations ago, a great famine descended upon the people of the Valley. The Nula river flooded more than ever before, and swept villages away. Hundreds of farms were wiped out, and the people starved. Then, a plague hit, and the malnourished bodies of the people could not resist. Thousands died, and many fled to the foothills and lower slopes of the mountains. After a few decades, the plague died down, and just as the survivors filtered back, a tribe came down from the mountains. They had journeyed far from the North, looking for the land promised by their gods. When they learned of how the Valley needed to be resettled, they were overjoyed. They had found a good, frutiful land nearly barren of people. Their leaders offered marriages to the surviving previous inhabitants, and they were joined into the Riklund.

Following this story, only the youngest child remains awake. His eyes are wider than when he tried to get the old Abotanot, but he no longer shakes, when the parents come to take their children home for the night, he is only one to resist, staring at the old man as he is dragged from the square by his father. That young boy now studies at the Temple, striving to become an Abotanot, like the old man, his teacher.

This was shorter and more roundabout than it needed to be. I'll just explain stuff outright.

The Nula river valley is home to Riklun, a nation of govkars that are descended from a tribe that merged with the survivors of the aforementioned disaster. The valley is ruled by a strong willed king, who governs through a large system of beuracrats and priests. A large warrior sect complements the other two portions of the kings powerbase, and he exercises absolute authority as divine representative of the gods, and the manifest will of the ancestors of the Riklun.

The beuracrats possess the authority of mayors and regional governors under their King, and their decisions directly influence the daily lives of the people. Following orders of the Throne, they cooeprate "to ensure bountiful harvests, healthy internal trade, and maintaining the happiness of the people" as it says upon a plaque just outside their headquarters, north of the Royal Palace. Their direction guides the people, and ensures a minimum of strife, but they leave little room for flexibility in their charges, and a growing unrest is sweeping the nation.

Abotatmaz are the priests that tend to the gods and ancestors of the Riklun people. The ancestors are numerous, and prayers are led by priests every morning from great towers from which they shout out the daily pleas to the long departed. The gods however, are strictly worshiped at the temples, where offerings are made. There is Horbau, Lord of War, Wielder of a Hundred Blades, he protects the Riklun and brings them victories a plenty in war. Zures, Mother of the Harvest, and Daughter of the Earth, she is the reciever of most prayers as the Kingdom is still largely agricultural. Kezmuv, the Bronze Worker, Cleverest Child, he is considered the youngest of the gods, but is patron saint of all craftsman. A host of other gods exist, but the three, Horbau, Zures and Kezmuv, are the most commonly prayed to of the gods.

Finally, there are the Tonaika, the warriors in service of the Kingdom. They are a ruthless group, loyal only to the King, and obedient to their superiors. They are recruited as youths from the populace of the Kingdom, but many rank-and-file soldiers are slaves from the Southlands, or kidnapped from the unloyal or unfaithful villages at the southern edge of the Kingdom. They are a small force compared to some to the armies of neigboring nations, but they make up in size with skill, equipment, and a loyal millitia reserve from the populace.

And now, I conclude my journey into the Riklun. Kulamot, for Prosperity, Progress and King.

The Joorods of Ca'rethill don't have any farmlands or livestock. The bulk of their diet consists of fish and insects. Joorods are not very good at digesting plant matter. Those living along the coasts are able to enjoy fresh fish the most often. Those living inland have to trade for barrels of salted fish. Their usual payment is in fresh water.
Salt collection is achieved simply by placing large dishes of seawater in the sun and allowing it to evaporate.
Sailors make voyages to the jungles in order to collect lumber, which is a scarce resource back home in the plains.
Silk is an important material. It is used for clothes, sails, writing surfaces, and other thing. Their looms allow them to weave some of the finest examples of the fabric on the continent.

The main weapons used by the civ's warriors are large recurve bows and spears. Some swordplay and hand to hand training as well. Armor is made by tying together pieces of carapace from govniks and higitains. A few more complex pieces, such as helmets, are made of imported metals.

As for technology, they don't really have any besides looms and cranes. Almost everything is still done completely by hand.

Do people have questions about the Govkar species?

Also, I am having an idea about slightly expanding on the biodiversity of the continent:
We all acknowledge that the species listed in the wiki are just a fraction of the "real" number of different species of Borgas IV, but due to obvious reasons, we haven't developed them all and never really will. (Basically, if Borgas IV was a real planet, there would be millions of species, instead of maybe few hundred).

So, what I am thinking is that people could just come up with slight variations of the current "base" creatures, to ad more variety, or come up with species filling empty niches, basing them on some of the lineages that exist on this continent.

For example: Monkey like govinks, who share the same ancestor as the Govkars, Sloth like climbing boomers, mole like krubs and so on.
>>
>>23770689
sounds good. Speaking of animals, what forms of livestock-ish animals are available?
>>
>>23771558
First off, there are boomers, except that they are more gas than meat, and have a habit of igniting upon death.
Armored Govnik descendants are the best choice. They are herbivores, have plenty of meat, and provide exoskeletal shells.
Some Joords wouldn't be a bad choice either.

Feel free to get creative for livestock though. Maybe small scraps of food are left out in order to attract Ngnungs to eat? Govnik larva is a good idea too.

These types of minor species that ad to the biodiversity of the continent could be made more.

In this continent there aren't many easy to domesticate species, or other types of creatures that would be very good for livestock.
I know that some tribes utilize boomers, which are explosive gas backs with rubbery and thick skin, and very little meat in them, mostly on their legs.

Bumping with content.

In Riklun, Gohroks are kept as either brutes for the Tonaikai, or as laborers. Most gohroks fit in the latter category, as the Royal Beuracracy doesn't want them to become aware just how good in combat they are, so many are made to be laborers. Pictured here is how many more savage gohroks were once "tamed" for heavy labor. Young gohroks would have their claws flattened so they'd be more spade like, and less capable of inflicting damage. Mandibles were cut off, and many scars made to "remind" the laborer of their place. The Royal Bureaucracy has largely eliminated this practice in the last couple of decades, but many older gohroks remain who bear the scars.

Tonaikai Gohroks command much more respect than a simple laborer, working on a farm or in a quarry. They are ferocious in battle, and use their bulk, combined with heavy mail armor, to perform devestating charges into the lines of enemy armies. No sane Citizen would dare insult a Tonaikaz Gohrok.
>>
>>23778821

I would like to play as a merchant colony sort of joorod offshoot living on the east coast and still supporting some of the martial arts traditions, the government would be a republic thats not quite democratic people can buy seats in the governing body but have to merge their holding with the government if they do so, it is a life time commitment which can be passed down to children if they accept, it may eventually result in a sort of royality but that is to be seen as the tribe is very young, they survive via farming motly luxury goods with some subsistence farms as well

right on man. welcome aboard. we will probably start this weekend if all goes well. Players are all here, the map is being developed, and I have some plans for the meta game, so we are on track.

As merchants and joorod you have chances to interact with the various joorod tribes, both PC and NPC, including foreigners from the enclave who walk both sides of the moral fence, and can make your own decisions on how you choose to stand.

long story short, I can make an individual scenario as light and happy, tangled and twisting, or grimdark as you want.
----
Early work looks awesome. As to the friggan, not all of them would have joined the enclave, but when they were found they were likely a smaller more mobile tribe. Some joined the enclave first, then traveled back home, brought more. Some went on to found the early Syndicates. A few became free wheeling merchants, beholden to none. Some kept on their endless journey, appreciating life. for many, they transition freely between all of those states. Those who did not join, dispersed, or possibly even rolled over into other tribes like Gave in's. If falc ever comes back for them, they will still be around. I have provisions for returning players, but until then, its safe to say they are part of the general background noise that are the many and small npc tribes who we dont place on a map.

Posting a quick sketch of a Gwiliak trooper.

The armor the Gwiliak utilize is made out of reinforced silk and Gohrok plating. The under suit of the armor is composed of numerous silk layers, out of which the top most ones have been hardened and reinforced with the azrach sap, while the lowest layers work as padding for the suit.
The Gohrok plates are fastened to this silk armor, which is in itself surprisingly effective protection. There has been some advancements in the usage of the gohrok plates, mainly in the way the Gwiliak shape them. In the past, the plates that were used were largely used based on their original shape and size, reducing the amount of usable plates the tribe could make armor out of.
Nowadays, the artisans of the tribe have the know how in shaping and cutting the plates in desirable forms, allowing them to both make more and better armors than they could do in the past.

The armor itself is relatively light, while still offering quite effective protection. Though it does not compare to actual metallic armor, it has the advantage of far lesser weight. The armor also naturally blends in to the azrach marshes, as the local gohroks themselves have over the eons adapted a suitable camouflage coloration.
Troops wearing this armor can move around fast and blend easily to the surroundings, allowing them to conduct surprise attacks and ambushes to intruders in to the marshes.

Maybe it's a form of megalomania, a desire to be the best, even better than the other bord. Another idea is that there is a sort of "warrior's cult" who hold their new forms to be the "true" ideal, far superior to the citizenry.

Some actually believe it, others repeat this mantra in order to stave off their madness, resultant of their transformation.

The issue there is the concept of perfection in Bord form. The super soldiers are a deviation.

Other picture >>23718511

What issue?
Genetic engineering?

I always imagined that the "super soldiers" of the bords were only so powerful due to their superior technology. The suits themselves always seemed to be akin to the ones marines use in Starcraft. They do not conform to the body shape of the user, instead, they are kinda like a mixture between a mini mecha and a powered exoskeleton.

time for some culinary information on the people of the Glorious Kingdom of the Valley, or Nalzo Otavan eska Nulaaz as they call it.

Since Govkars can't really digest plant matter very well, they have to find alternative sources of nutrition since raising animals as the only source of food is much more land and resource intensive. The biggest way around this for the Riklun is drinking beverages with crushed, cooked, sliced, choped and diced plant parts soaked in them for long periods to create nutrient rich drinks. They also use sauces and syrups to make food more tasteful, but at every meal a Riklunao will drink more than they eat, except for high ranking Bureaucrats, Priests, Tonaika and the King himself.

Those grains and plants that are easily consumed in their regular, if cooked form, help supplement this primarily liquid and carniviorous diet. Alcholic drinks are extremely rare, and only dispensed with the permission of the Royal Bureacracy during festivals and celebrations

>>
>>23795106
Less like the bord, more like... I'm not sure. Hedonistic, vainglorious, and ravenous.

They consume resources at a blinding speed, fueling their obscene appetites (both literal and figurative). Every bord is provided everything they could ever desire; from visual entertainment, succulent delicacies, musical traditions spreading eons, a thousand narcotics, opiates or other such substances. Every whim, every desire, almost all of them are catered to.

Some bord though, grow tired of this shallow empty life. They search for more meaning... now, some find this in a religion or cult, but many of these are often manufactured as well. But there are those who find the truth, that all these things are but distractions. The bord have no rights, their government's power is absolute.

Those who find this out, are rewarded, told that they are among the elite, that they are better than the other bord, for they saw past the distractions. Thus does the empire take care of counter-culture. It rewards it. The upper echelons of the Bord Empire are populated by those who saw past the lights and flair of the consumer culture.

I know, but it would be good to see the rivers more clearly anyways.
It is not a major issue though, as I can just reference the larger versions of the map.

Anyways, here is a Gwiliak higitain rider.
They patrol the marshes, using their fast steeds to move trough the tangled swamp lands very quickly.

those currents are gonna make trading by ship a bit harder for me
>>
>>23803680
Remember that the currents depicted are major ones, and does not show smaller ones. You could go to Central via the westward current on D1 and D2, and return using the same loop but picking the right jump from one current to another. Or maybe turn south and seek an eastwards small current.

Also: ROW ROW FIGHT THE CURRENTS. The waters between southern islands can be used to get in places and suitable currents.
