It's been a long time, folks. I hope everyone's still interested!

You are the Long Fangs tribe, a primitive tribe of peoples on the cusp of the Bronze Age. With the assistance of your heroes and the guidance of your gods, it falls to you to guide your people through the ages, steering them through good times and bad, towards their eventual, far-off destiny. Do you think you are up to the task? Can you (to steal a phrase) build a civilization to stand the test of time?

I am interested, but must read through the archives;
also, I do not see 66 in the archives.

There was a mix-up last time... Long story short, thread 66 didn't happen due to personal issues. This is thread 66, take two...

And don't worry about the archives. There's not as much as it seems.

In fact, let's make it simpler: Who'd like a recap before the thread today? (Just as soon as I've grabbed some supper)
>>
>>23646448
Ready to roll, as always.

I wouldn't mind a recap, but isn't necessary for me.
>>
>>23646448
I'm ready.

Seriously, those things are an eyesore. Quit it.

>PREVIOUSLY
>Trym and Derrik met with the leader of the of the fox-folk in the Deep Forest, who informed them that the palisade they encountered was constructed by a group of rebels, responsible for the chaos around the village. A deal was struck for Trym and Derrik to defeat the leader of the rebels, one 'Yotaha'. A fox-folk guide took the heroes back to palisade and the two chose to approach openly.

As Trym and Derrik approach the gates, a voice rings out, challenging them. "Halt! Stop right where you are!" Looking up, Trym notices a fox-folk lookout in the tower, raised above the wall. The red-headed young male wears buckskins and brandishes a bronze-headed spear in his hand, his three tails bristling behind him as he calls down, "Drop your weapons! You may approach openly, but you have the scent of Ilfa about you! We will not allow you to harm Yotaha! If you mean no harm, leave your weapons on the ground as a show of good faith!"

What will the heroes do?
A) Drop their weapons
B) Walk away
C) Try to negotiate somehow
D) Try to climb over the walls
E) Other
>>
>>23647841
Do you still have the answer I gave last thread? I can try and write it up again if you don't.
>>
>>23647841
I'd go for
C) Try and negotiat so at least one of us keeps his weapons. They should know that two people are of no threat to their whole village, armed or not.
And it's a sign of respect if they let us keep our weapons.
>>
>>23647841
A. Might as well. If they wanted to kill us they could do so at any point. I mean, we are vastly outnumbered and we're here to find out her side of the story so before we make a decision soooo yeah.
>>
>>23647841
A) Put down weapons temporarily
"Hail friend! We mean you no harm! We only wish to speak to your leader. We have come from afar seeking an answer to solve the problems plaguing our village. We have heard rumor that this village is responsible. Being strangers, we don't know who to trust, and would only like to speak to your leader to try and sort this out before it escalates to unnecessary violence. We have seen the consequences of wasteful bloodshed, and we would like to avoid it for both of our sakes. However, at least one of us needs to keep their weapon so that we may feel somewhat equal in these discussions. We mean you no disrespect, but these are the only terms we can afford to agree to. We have been to speak to a nine-tailed fox, and we would like to come and confirm if what she said of you was true or not. If it wasn't, and there is some problem between your two groups, we will try to do whatever we can to help, but we will need to speak to your leader first, for that to happen. You can decide which of us is to keep their weapon, if it would make you feel more comfortable.
>>
>>23647995
Second this.
>>
>>23647995
Thirded
>>
>>23647995
Might as well sceond this.
>>
>>23647995
"Both of you look easily capable of doing enough harm to Yotaha, regardless of who keeps their weapons. No deal," the sentinel scowls, "But I see your point. Wait here." He puts two fingers in his mouth and whistles, calling down to someone inside the palisade and explaining the situation.

There's a brief pause, before the gate in the wall slowly creaks open, revealing a half-dozen fox-folk, looking ready for trouble. Leading the small group is a male fox-folk, a bronze sword in hand and seven tails showing his status. "I don't understand," he muses, walking forward to face Trym, as the others encircle the heroes, "You clearly have met with Ilfa, but you claim to come to talk... I offer you this deal. One of you will enter, while one remains outside. One of us will also stay outside, as a hostage. Is this acceptable for you?"

A) Accept - Tyrm stays outside
B) Accept - Derrik stays outside
C) Refuse - re-negotiate
D) Refuse - attack
E) Refuse - walk away
F) Other
>>
>>23648827
B. I believe Derrik was really only supposed to be our guide anyway.

That said, he would be the better candidate to send inside if we werent directly controlling what Derrik was going to say.
>>
>>23648827
A) Worst case scenario, Trym can bust in there no problem, and it's better to have the wise man doing negotiations.
>>
>>23648893
I'd prefer Trym doing negotiations, but on the other hand Derrik can probably handle magic illusion by the foxes better. Assuming there are any, of course.

Oh well, I'll sceond the B).
>>
>>23648893
Yes we can, +1 to this.
>>
>>23648827
A. We should attack before they split us.
>>
>>23648893
While Derrik stays outside, along with a young, female fox-folk, who simply sits herself down on a bank of moss beneath a tree and smiles impishly, Trym is lead inside the palisade. Within the walls, it looks strangely like a cross between a human village and a forest clearing, with trees, grass and moss everywhere, even a small brook winding its way along to a reed-filled pool. The fox-folk seen around seem mostly to be engaged in activities that would not look out-of-place in Trym's home, though by and large the most common thing they seem to be doing is simply talking in small groups, either walking through the village, or else sitting on the soft ground. Much like their forest-dwelling counterparts

Trym is taken to a large hut in the opposite side of the village, really more of a roof on pillars, the walls formed from woven reeds. The seven-tailed fox-folk leads him inside and bows deeply to a woman speaking with two others. The woman in question blinks in slight surprise, then dismisses her company. "Yes, Lentay? What is it?"
"Yotaha, this human wishes to speak to you... But he has the mark of-"
"My sister. Yes, I can smell it. Thank you all the same, Lentay. Your dedication to keeping me safe is good, but not needed." The woman smiles and nods to Trym, "Sit, please. As long as you mean me no harm, you have nothing to fear from me, or my people. Now perhaps you will tell me exactly what brings you here, having already met with my sister?"

Yotaha is nothing like her sister in appearance, it would seem. While Ilfa's hair was dark, with a red sheen, Yotaha's is golden and her eyes are crystal-clear blue, as opposed to yellow, though they are every bit as piercing. The fur of her ears and nine tails is likewise golden-yellow, as opposed to Ilfa's russet-red. She seems to eschew the furs and skins of her sister too, instead wearing woven cloth, like the Spray Folk do.

Wat do?
A) Tell the truth
B) Try to lie
C) Take the chance to attack
D) Other
>>
>>23650348
A. We have no reason to lie. And besides, she'd probably know if we were lying.
>>
>>23650348
A) And maybe ask her what's going on with the fox/human village, and the two sisters quarreling.
>>
>>23650348
A) She's going to catch us out otherwise.
(Also D have Derrik flirt with the fox woman. If he seduces her she might come back to the village with us.)
>>
>>23650443
This is me.
>>
>>23650409
>>23650422

I can get behind those. What's the worst that could happen?
>>

Second
>>
>>23650443
Trym explains the situation, including Ilfa's offer. Though the hovering Lentay seems shocked, Yotaha takes the news calmly. "I had a feeling it was something like that," she nods, "You've done the right thing by informing me. My sister is not to be trusted."
Yotaha looks out at the village and smiles slightly, "When we started to learn of humanity, both my sister and I saw a chance to learn. But while we learned, my sister and I started to grow apart. She is vicious; a predator and monster. She thinks nothing of toying with her prey for hours before killing it. You won't hear a single word from her that doesn't twist like the wind. Let me tell you honestly - not I, nor any of my followers have ever felt, nor directed any malicious intent to your people."
Trym frowns and shakes his head, "Ilfa said though that our suffering was your fault? That was a lie?"
"No," replies Yotaha, "It was a half-truth. If not for my own interest in humans and how you live, attention would never have been drawn to you. If not for my arguing with my sister, the blood of our people would not be so hot and ready to cause chaos. My actions did indeed cause the events that lead to your being here."
"But what is it you quarrel over?" asks the hero, frowning in confusion.
"Humans. You don't just hunt and farm and build... You think. You talk. Words are powerful things, particularly when they carry ideas. To Ilfa, they are nothing more than sounds, but to me... They're something more."
"Yotaha has taught us much," nods Lentay, "Through words, we learn and we think. It's a gift unlike anything we have known before. Ilfa would see that gift broken and trodden into muck. She only sees words as sounds, or worse, tools to better control us and her prey. That is why we fight her. She has ruled long enough."
>>
>>23652537
"So what will it be, Trym?" asks Yotaha, "Here I am and you have said you will kill me. Will you do so? Or are my words enough to save my life? They are no more than my sister's, after all. Killing me would not be easy, but perhaps you could do it. And perhaps my sister would hold to the spirit of her words, for a I doubt she would have promised you anything in truth. Or perhaps she would not. I cannot tell for certain, but perhaps a human has more wisdom than I."

Wat do?
A) Attack Yotaha
B) Renounce Ilfa's deal
C) Offer to join Yotaha
D) Ask further
E) Other
>>
>>23652602
"I have foreseen the darkness your body will bring to this land"

Execute her.
>>
>>23652602
E) Kill her, head over to her sister, and kill her also, seem the only logical thing to do in a situation like this.
>>
E. Hrunti lives here, lets ask what he thinks. Surely he has some opinion on the goings on of his home realm.

If not:
C. Might as well, I mean, could be good.
>>
>>23652716
Second this.
I don't think anyone should die, yet.
>>
>>23652716
Sceonding this. I don't want things to escalate yet.
>>
>>23652716
may as well
>>
>>23652716
Agreed agreed. Let's just keep on keeping on till this whole mess becomes a little clearer. I like how things are shaping up though. This is very interesting arc so far.
>>
>>23652716
Just a little something to back the Hrunti option. Sure Trym isnt his priest and all, but they do share a rather glorious history that has helped our tribe out greatly. And the fact that Hrunti lives in the deep woods should make his appearance all the easier.

Think of it kinda like when we get Derrik to bless us during the hunt. Unless Derrik is tracking down literally every animal for each individual hunter then some of his blessing has to pass on to them, eh? And surely Hrunti wants these shenanigans to stop too.
>>
>>23652716
Trym thinks long and hard about his options. He wishes heartily that he could ask the advice of the White Wolf, Hrunti; as a native of the Deep Forest, the god may well have some insight that Trym could use. He gets the feeling however, that this is not the time to walk away and ask, even if he had a means to contact the Wolf God, or if Hrunti does indeed know much about the fox-folk's situation.
The more he thinks however, the more Trym comes back to his conclusion. Anger swells within him as he realises how close he came to being ensnared by Ilfa's deceptions and he reaches his decision. "I will not be a slave to be bound by Ilfa's ropes of words," he growls, "Your cause is good and in bringing this war to a close, I aid my own people. My sword and spear are yours, Yotaha. What would you have me do?"

Yotaha smiles. "This evening, my sister's followers will come and clash at the gates, as they do every night. You must break the stalemate between us. This will lure my sister out. I will offer her one final chance to stand down. When she refuses, you will strike, with my support. With her death, this war will end and I will claim ascendancy as the Fox God."
>>
>>23653787
It lives!
>>
>>23653787
Aaaand that'll do for tonight. Again, sorry for the lack of... Everything. I think my tabletop group has bred bad habits. Or maybe I'm the cause of them? Either way...

Next thread is at 1600EST, on Thursday, same as usual! See you then folks! Have a good couple of days!
>>
>>23653844
Great thread as always. Have a pleasant night and see you on thursday.
