(3 Fate Points)

House: Ravenclaw

Millicent is Anti-Social. This is the system-specific trait, not the popular definition of anti-social. She is not socially awkward, shy, or lonely; she actively hates people. But she is not a sociopath (she does feel emotions, and she does understand social expectations and rules, and does follow them, and is not manipulative; she just hates people).

However, being thrust into an environment where she MUST interact with people, no longer having the safe haven of her own room or of Dad and Mum, and with the threat of being disowned, has forced Millicent to begin accepting more people.

This does not mean that Millicent is lonely and wants friends for the sake of companionship or for the sake of friendship; she still feels hatred for people outside of the very small circle of family, familiar, doll, and acquaintance(s).

And that hatred will only subside with time, or her being forced to get to know the person better and becoming acclimated to them.

Her hatred isn't an uncontrolled thing either, unlike her fear of bodies of water or nausea regarding seafood; she can push down that hatred enough to work with people. People can do things they hate, and be unhappy with it but do it all the same.

Traits:
Near-Death
>A fear of large bodies of water and being unable to stomach foods with obvious fish.
Hexer
>Natural aptitude to hexes, but not trusted by others because of it.
Supernatural Luck: Able to refresh a Fate Point on an 8, 9, & 10 on a d10.

With the wand within your grasp you don't waste a second as you run back to the others, the figure giving you chills down your spine. Harriet has woken up but she has a nasty gash on the back of her neck where blood trickles down her back.

"We need to get her medical attention as soon as possible" Joel says as he holds her up "I have a plan" he says, drawing his wand.

"Accio broom!"

Nothing seems to happen as Joel and the others quickly make for the otherside of the school before any students or teachers arrive. Then, from the air a busted old broom falls down by Joel's feet. He sits on it and puts Harriet infront of him as she tiredly holds onto it too.

"I'm going to take her to Professor Trib's potion's supplies" he says "I should be able to find the correct healing potion"

You manage to return to the your dormitries without drawing attention to yourself, the door already open as students filled the entrance as they look to the forest fire.

When you return to your room, parting ways with Nigel, you find Elise and sit on your bed, Tara clambering onto your should as she gives the feline equivelent of a hug.

"Tergeo" says Olivia as she points her wand at herself and then at you, cleaning the soot and other forest dirt from your robes, night dress and bathrobe. You undress and change into your proper school clothes.

You still feel a rush from casting the fireball spell so unexpectantly, killing the house elf out of self defense. Should you have let Joel fly off with Harriet like that? If the teachers had flocked to the fire then the potions storage closet should be unprotected.

"We should we do now?" asks Olivia

You know, he's been having a lot of trouble casting spells in class since the beginning and now all of sudden he's become pretty damn contempt.

The paranoia in me is telling me that he's been getting help or a "boost" to his magical capabilities but in return for his services. And who's been asking of his aid? Professor Avori! During the party he had a pretty weak excuse on the reason why he was chosen, and he began to get a little defensive when we kept badgering him on about what he did that day.

I dunno what else to add but this, but does anyone have any more fuel to add to the fire?

You decide it's best to wait for Joel and neglect any lessons you may have coming up.

Your thoughts wander to the figure in the forest. Next to destroying the house elf with your magic the image of the dark figure won't escape from your mind.

You remember seeing...a wand in the figures hand. And he was a man with a athletic build and heavy arching shoulder on which the house elf sat. He had turned to you when the dawn came and obscured his face.

Had you seen those house elf's before? Possibly, they could have been the ones from the great hall kitchens but you would never be able to tell them apart.

You think of Joel and the prowess he has been showing lately in his magic abilities, the way he conjured the broom and took control of the situation. In lessons he has always been average or a little more than, never to the point he could fight off three house elfs without taking so much as a scratch. Maybe he was good in difficult situations. Maybe it was something else.

You don't understand.

"They're like cats, and other animals. I have house elfs at home who serve my family, we never make a fuss when they die, we just get another one"

Olivia is speechless.

"You really aren't as smart as you try to make out to be" she says

Before you can react to this you hear Joel call your names from downstairs. You follow Olivia and find him sitting on the sofa looking into the dying embers of the fireplace. His face is pale white like his hair as turns and looks at you. Nigel comes thudding down the stairs a moment later, wand drawn in the event of trouble. He eases up.

"She's okay" he says "I went to Trib's cabnet but I couldn't find anything to heal her with. I had to use a spell instead, thankfully it worked well enough to stop the bleeding and close the wound. She's going down to the ward in a few minutes to get herself checked out."

"Millie just stop it" he says as you enter your room.

You can't form words, there's a look in his eyes you've never seen before. He's deadly serious.

"Stop with this act. I've had enough. I thought it was because you were brought up under those ridiculous parents of yours which sheltered you from the world. But no, even when you're at Hogwarts, one of the greatest places in the wizarding world, you're not happy. You don't trust anyone apart from Olivia. How about I just come back with multiple thumbnails and you guys just pick one or something, that'll be much easier. I'm pretty much free till the remainder of next week, revisions will be accepted.

Expect some established shots of the whole composition due sunday or saturday evening. Afterwards we can talk over specific details such as each individual appearance, demeanor etc and if things go ok you'll have it done at the end of that day.

One more thing though: Is there any specific style you'd prefer to be emulated? I'm not a regular here, don't want to come in blazing with semi-realism or anything out of place.

Questions welcome. Theories welcome.

Have I strayed too far from what makes Harry Potter fun? I feel it's got too plot heavy.
>>
>>23710866
I'd put myself at about a 4.
>>
>>23710866
Around I'd say 5. None of it doesn't sound impossible or unlikely but I feel like it's kind of disjointed from the events we've seen.

So I understand what's going on but not quite how we got here.

I'm a bit unfamiliar with the names of the characters outside the gang but I pretty much understand everything. Where did the bit about transfigured humans take on the mental power of what theyre tranfigured into come from?

I found this quest thread's first episode on the same night I started re-reading the series

i think its great so far just need to keep the conversations moving. This is the best quest i've been in on jackie four chans.
>>
>>23710918
No idea. I didn't get into the books, and I'm just here for the wild ride.
>>
>>23710934
2 since I've been here since the beginning.
>>
>>23710918
I've enjoyed it greatly. The only negative comment I can make is that this solution seems a bit out of the blue. A little railroad-y. I would have preferred being allowed to form our own conclusions by being given more evidence.
>>
>>23710918
Joel's conclusion that Bergle is the culprit seems a bit hasty, and Sam being polymorphed into a cat doesn't make much sense.

As for it getting too plot-heavy, it might be because some of the clues are too subtle.
But it wouldn't be fun if the mystery is too easy, either.
>>
>>23710918
I like the plot, though I wouldn't mind more class scenes and social stuff. As for theories... hard to say. There's nothing really definitive on anyone, the only people I don't suspect are Gleeson and the real Trib. And Harriet, Nigel, and Olivia, I guess, but only because there's no evidence there.
>>
>>23710999
> a bit out of the blue
> A little railroad-y.

I feel the same, but I also feel like there's another quest running besides this one and it's titled, "Joel 'Something' and the Trident of Rowena Ravenclaw."

Alright, here's where I'm at

The person behind everything is that squib guy from before, who is currently using a selection of artifacts. no one thinks to check for magical ways of him doing stuff since he's a squib

He's using something to change forms and lure the competitors for the trident out so he can zombify them and make them do his work for him

He's controling bergle since bergle can be outside after dark and just do stuff BUT he controls others so he can sweep a larger area in a shorter time

The earlier poisoning was so that he could get a whole bunch of hogwarts staff working on a cure and therefore distracted while he worked

Sam is not a fucking cat, that's retarded
>>
>>23711027

We're not playing the main character in a quest thread and it's blowing my mind
>>
>>23711027
He does seem to have stolen the protagonist limelight.
>>
>>23710918

>>23710931 here.

I honestly think the best moments so far were those moments Millie had with Maud and Olivia and I kind of want more of just Millie dealing with being alienated from her family over the Trident mystery but it's still fine and I'm having fun trying to figure it out. Though I feel Joel's conclusions to be a little too hasty and disjointed here and while I feel you want us to take them as correct I can't really see them that way.

Actually, speaking of Joel, I kind of have to agree with what was said here >>23710347 to a certain extent. I feel like a lot of the suspicion and paranoia surrounding him comes from him seeming too good to be true and a little OP of a character.
>>
>>23711014
Whoops, meant the real Tooledge. Though Trib seems less likely after this thread, unless she's been polyjuicing.

Something that struck me as odd when I went through the archives. It was during the hospital ward scene:
>The faces of the Headmaster, professor's Avori, Leverty and Trib look in on you, faces deadly serious.
Leverty was never mentioned again in the scene, though both the other professors were. In fact, it seems like he was specifically not there, since later "Tooledge" says this:
> "I and the two professors who were just here have been keeping a close eye on you"
Two professors, probably Trib and Avori, since they were talking. But I suppose this might just be a mistake on OP's part.
>>
>>23711004
> seems a bit hasty

Say as hasty as we were that it was him (Joel)?
>>
>>23711097
I may have been referring to the time when they were in the dorm. Otherwise mistake on my part.
>>
>>23711130
That makes sense. Also takes Leverty off my lists of people to be really suspicious of, since he's not shown up too much.
>>
Here is where I'm at:

Anon hasn't done anything to progress the quest or solve the plot. Really. All they've done is coast along and react to shit. I think we should try to be more proactive. Anon is saying that it's bad that we've become the sidekick, that's what happens when you roleplay a character poorly.

Way too much paranioa.
>>
>>23711167
I would prefer to be building a clockwork golemn for a ghost, instead of chasing phantoms through the forbidden forest and starting fires.
>>
>>23711162
Neither has Bergle, really.

I feel the same way. If Harriet isn't bluffing us, we have a lot of work to do and complete it mighty fast.
>>
>>23711204
Yeah, that's part of the reason I don't buy it. Though at least he has opportunity, since he helps Gleeson patrol the forest. Though if anything, that might count against him since he could just dig himself and draw no attention.
>>
>>23711167
The fastest and most direct way of progressing the quest and the plot is getting the Trident by finishing the clockwork golem, which is what we've been concentrating on.
If we get the Trident, we lure the villain out of hiding. It also gets us the artifact.
Really, we HAVE been doing everything to solve the plot in the most efficient, direct, and in-character method, but the villain keeps getting in the way.
>>
>>23711276
>but the villain keeps getting in the way.
Isn't that the whole point of an antagonist?
>>
>>23711255
Not only that, but if whoever the cloaked figure is, has House Elves as his minions, then why bother mind-controlling students to dig for him, when he could just have the damn elves do it?
They're HOUSE ELVES. No one will question whatever they're doing, because obviously they're doing something they were told to do.
>>
>>23711304
But they want to get the Trident themselves, so wouldn't it be more effective for them to help us find the Trident and then back-stab us just as we're about to get it in our hands?
>>
>>23711337
That's actually what they seemed to have been doing at first with the Fake!Tooledge thing, but now it's sort of unclear. I think whoever's just got sick at the rate of progress of the contestants.
>>
So the plan we should propose next thread is that everyone pitch in to help us build this ghost a body, and then once we have the trident we can try to catch whoever is responsible for these events?
>>
>>23711377
That's what I'm thinking.
>>
>>23711337
Whoever suggested that this might not have to deal directly with the trident might be right. Maybe there's some reason Nathaniel shouldn't be running around with a body or something.
>>
>>23711377
make robo ghost catch them.
>>
>>23711377
>>23711394
Wait, isn't this like our third week? What the hell are we going to do for the rest of it if that works?

I mean, I'd be cool with just SLO shenanigans and trying to fix Millie's family problems and such but we kind of lose our sense of direction
>>
>>23711399
We told both Tooledge's about Nathaniel. Unless they were both fakes, and there is some reason that Nathaniel shouldn't get a body, wouldn't at least one of them have mentioned it?

We could look up Nathaniel in the Hogwart's yearbooks, though, I suppose.
>>
>>23711433
>rest of it
meant rest of the school year, bleh.
>>
>>23711433
You'll just have slice of life stuff, mostly, till the end of the year.
>>
So who here actually likes Joel?
>>
>>23711433
I figure that the conclusion of the adventure (Catching whoever is responsible for this) would be the end of the first 'book'. We'll do some slice of life stuff as a sort of break, and then on to a new adventure.
>>
>>23711531
I like him okay, I just don't like how he's acting lately.
>>
>>23711483
when millie is older how would we determine what gender she fancies?
>>
>>23711483
Oh yeah, and OP, we're down to 2 Fate Points.
We're supposed to refresh them at the beginning of every game, but you said that they're going to refresh at the end of every year, right?
The PDF actually suggests 2 to 4 Adventures per Year, but I think that's pushing things too much if skills are only supposed to go up at the end of a Year rather than at the end of an Adventure, or at most, a Semester.
>>
>>23711531
He's alright, but I don't particularly like him.
>>
>>23711551
You get three fate points to start. Then when you run out of them I'll give you one if I think you're doing a cool hero moment.
>>
>>23711531
I'm meh on him. Starting to outshine us, but not irrecoverably.
>>
>>23711549
I don't know. I'll just let organic relationships develop.
>>
>>23711587
Seems kind of arbitrary, though.
>>
>>23711587
>You get three fate points to start.
That's 3 points at the start of each thread?
Or from the start of the quest?
>>
>>23711531
he seems like our overpowered team mate.
>>
>>23711665
Start of the quest.
>>
>>23711531
I'm kind of meh on him but I feel like we're kind of stuck with him or can't really do much about what he's doing even if we tried.

Which is kind of a problem in and of itself, but not necessarily a big one unless his presence starts chewing at the scenery.
>>
>>23711543

>>23711593
>>23711671
>>23711681
Yeah, that's about what I figured.
>>
>>23711674
Okay. Then OP should fix the opening post.
We used 2 Fate Points last thread, but only refreshed 1.

I has question.

How does exp awarding work? Are yuou just assigning it based on what we do in class?

Can we see her character sheet? To make informed decisions, instead of using TG's fucked-up dice?
>>
>>23710866
I followed most of it, but didn't quite get it so lets say 3.

>>23710918
Honestly, with Joel, I am now -really- distrusting him. Calling us out on our Paranoia, and then bull-rushing us to a goal makes me go 'oh shit, it's him' or at least he might have some other game. If he gives us proof, I might believe him.
>>
hey HPQ can you try to put millicent or HPQuest in the first post so the filters work?

I blame it due to our anti-social trait.
>>
>>23713112
I blame myself as well. Anyway, I'm also kinda surprised by the way we handled Olivia and the house elf thing. The mean answer didn't even have the majority of votes...
>>
>>23713232
OP makes the law we don't often question Ms.Rowling. I was kinda erked by that as well. If we don't it up to her I'm gonna be pissed.
>>
>>23713232
I think it was at least in-character, pureblood family and all, but I do feel like it's a pretty bad situation. We've kind of basically alienated our only friend here and we're still being paranoid over Joel and depressed over our situation with our our parents.
>>
>>23713232
Yeah, but still, you can't expect Millicent to suddenly view house elves as anything more than slightly sapient things to be used and replaced as needed in the short time she's been here.
>>
>>23713396
While that's true, I expected her to keep quiet about it because it was obvious it would upset Olivia.

Anyhow, now we've got the chance to show Olivia we care enough about her as a friend to change our opinon about house elves.... at least when she's around.
>>
I feel like things have moved too quickly, and we should have continued on with our daily school life.
>>
>>23713491
I think at this point we should just speed things up so we can get back our daily school life. No use stalling at this point and it'll give OP time to prepare for next year while we just SLO it for the time being.
>>
>>23713425
I felt like we could have showed our blue-blood-ness through this scene. However, I would be quick to mend things.
>>
>>23713491
we just had a wild night i don't think we should be pushing or luck. Just making our plans and going to class is probably the best idea.
>>
>>23713555
Yep. Next time we get the chance to pull Olivia aside to make things right, we should do so.
>>
>>23713551
I feel like this is just a mini-challenge in the grand, big picture. OP has stated he had big plans in stored for us. Sure, we solved and captured whoever was behind the poisoning and student enchant, and perhaps even founs the trident. But does either of those things mean that the adventure is over? What if the muggle thief gets wind if our discovery and now decides to go after our prize?
>>
>>23713672
I haven't been able to accurately guess OP's plans and i think that she may be using these "theories and comments" as a way of keeping us wrong.
>>
>>23713828
No doubt about it. I think this is the reason why we're getting paranoid. Especially Joel.
>>
OP confirmed for autistic.
>>
>>23714665
how so ?
>>
>>23714740
I don't really get what he's talking about, but he did seem pretty disappointed with how things turned out and how we reacted in this thread. It's very likely he didn't lay out or present things as well as he wanted to or thought he could.

Calling him autistic for that is quite the stretch and honestly it isn't really much of a problem unless he gives up.
