You shift uncomfortably in your seat. "I'm retired."

"Thirty's a young age to call it quits." The uniformed man across the room from you intones. He takes a seat, and you note his tags.

"A Terran Admiral? I'm impressed you wanted to do this meeting instead of one of your subordinates."

"It's because of the classified nature of the task we want you to perform. Frankly, I'd be happy to see you live out life on a beach somewhere, but a man of your talents is rare."

"Like you don't have others." You respond with a bitter laugh. "How's my replacement doing?"

"Damn fine. Halfway across the galaxy." He sighs. "We have flashpoints all over the damn place, and we need people to smother the sparks before an actual fire breaks out. This?" He tosses a folder on the table. "This has the potential to turn into a goddamn inferno if we don't have someone on it YESTERDAY."

You pick up the folder, and begin thumbing through it. "What's Codename 'Tlaloc'?"

"An idea for an advanced weapons platform. A modified rail-launch system can accelerate specialized projectiles in atmosphere and cause True Impact level destruction."

The term 'True Impact' catches your attention. "Isn't that the term they use for the meteor that killed the Dinosaurs? Basically the apocalypse?" He nods gravely. "And it was approved?"

"No, merely proposed. The numbers looked plausible, but new thinking means we prefer to minimize collateral damage. That, and there was no way for us to get it close enough to the target to activate the weapon. Anyone worth attacking would shut it down well before it got there."

"While fascinating, I fail to see the point."

"Have you heard of the Normandy?"

"Ship that belongs to that Specter we politiced our way in the back?"

"It has an experimental stealth drive, blueprints for which were stolen and bought by the Shadow Broker. The same man who bought those plans arranged the kidnapping of David Emmerich, the man who designed Tlaloc."
>>
>>23745944

You take a moment to consider the implications. "So they have an undetectable planet killing weapon?"

"Quite possibly." He responds. "Now you can see why we need your help. The terrorists have identified themselves as an organization known as 'Hornets Nest'."

"Doesn't ring a bell."

"That's because they weren't someone worth knowing when you got out of the game. they used to be a Veteran's club, helping those who were abandoned by their governments and military get back on their feet. Recently they've become more.... proactive in their work, though their goals aren't quite clear. They did however call in the threat demanding an insane amount of money, or they destroy Thessia and blame us for its ruin." He gives you a concerned look. "There's someone bigger than them pulling the strings. They don't have the resources for this."

"Alright, so the mission is that you want me to investigate and put a stop to whatever evil they're plotting."

"Exactly, finding out their backers is important, but only a secondary concern to you." He answers. "We have a team of the best ready, you're the only missing component."

"I do my best work alone."

"We only have have an in for one person anyway, so you'll be running the Covert Op solo fieldside. The others are experts you can call on to make your job easier, or to explain things you might not know about."

"I guess I don't really have the option of refusing?" He shakes his head. "Well then. Same Code name as last time?"

"Someone else has your old designation, to keep your retirement secret. your new handle is 'Liquid Viper'."

"... Well, maybe they'll underestimate me....."

Health Bar. The Red is you yourself, the orange is your armor. You heal, armor needs repairs.

>Success, failure.

Basically WoD style dice system: you get x number of d10s based on relevant stats/skills/equipment and a number of successes needed to complete the task. Threshold for success is at seven, circumstances can change that.

Any three dice can be used to auto-buy one success. So things you should know (like field stripping a gun) shouldn't be rolled for unless you're under duress.

You sit in the crate for almost three hours. The ship was lacking any sort of FTL, so the base of operations had to be close-by.

Your patience is rewarded when you feel the shudder of the ship entering another gravity well, conflicting with the onboard AG systems.

About five minutes later, you feel shaking and moving as you're transported elsewhere and set down. A careful peak around through the cracked crate lid lets you know you're alone, and you unpack yourself and stretch out the little kinks you got from playing contortionist.

Your Codec-com rings twice, and you activate it. "Viper." Comes a woman's voice, familiar. "Any problems during insertion?"

"Not that I'm aware of Major." You respond easily, while her face appears on your visor. "Looks like I'm near some sort of kitchen, alone. You got roped into this too?"

She sighs. "I'm probably the only person who's ever managed to keep you on a leash. Who ELSE where they going to call in? We don't even know where Squid and Tiger went after the old unit was disbanded."

"Good to have someone I can trust at least." You respond easily, stepping out into the kitchen.

"Several someones, actually." She responds. "Would you like to meet the rest of the team now, or when they become relevant?"

"Well if everyone has a minute, I'd like to know the people I'm betting my life on." You respond dryly, looking around the kitchen for something of use. Weapons, intel.... food.

"Alright. First we have James 'Slick' Hardaway, resident tech expert. He pretty much knows anything about any ship, vehicle, or general technology that you can imagine. And if he didn't, he could look it up pretty fast."

"I don't know the 'Viper' name, but the Major says you're a pro's pro so I'll take her word." The voice is masculine and slightly nasily. His face flickers on your visor, and you see a slightly.... To be totally honest, he looks like a pug wearing sunglasses. "You know your way around an omnitool?"

"My training's a little outdated now, but I've got the basics."

"All you need when I've got your back." He responds with a cocksure grin.

He has a really punchable face. "Hopefully so." I respond, and the Major pulls up the next person in line. She looks to be mid 20's, Oriental of some kind, but you're not sure which particular flavor it is.

"Mr. Viper?" She says, accent suggesting East Coast of the UCAS. "Amy Leng, TA intelligence. It's been my job to study 'Hornet's Nest' since the incident came to our attention. Theior rank and file isn't anything special, but they might have commandos onboard."

"Commandos sounds... bad."

"They certainly can be. They're on par with the FOXHOUND specialists in terms of ability, from what we can determine. They could have as many as Five of them on board."
>>
>>23747685

That.... That gives you pause. "Five FOXHOUND level specialists? Any idea who?"

"There's about twenty of them across the organization. I'll tell you more as I find it, and when we have an idea of who you're fighting."

You curse, and signal the Major to call up the next one. "Durzo Blunt." A gruff voice introduces itself.

"A Krogan working intel?" You ask surprised.

"They called me in because I've worked with these guys before, have an idea about how they operate. Apparently I can't see action today because I'm... less than discreet."

"It was a really tiny crate, too."

"Yeah yeah. You kill 'em good. You want info on gear or weapons, I'm your man."

"We also have a medical specialist, but he's busy at the moment."

"Dr. Carver? I met him during my physical. Is that everybody?"

"Unless command forces someone else on me, yes." The Major responds. "You're on the ground, what do you think the best way to proceed is?"

"Try taking a hostage." Blunt suggests. "Careful though, these guys are trained to operate in pairs. If you see one, he has a friend nearby."

"That's one option." Leng comments. "If you could get to a computer of some kind, either me or Slick could give you something more to work with."

"There's also the possibility of standing around and seeing what comes to you. You're in the cafeteria, right?" Slick asks. "Make a sandwich, hide under the table or something. Someone's gonna come get a snack eventually, and people chat when they eat."

"About classified information?" You deadpan.

"In the middle of a secure facility, completely hidden from any possible enemies, while they're in a low profile organization surrounded by people who already know?" He returns.

You step up onto the table, and get into the duct quite easily. As you slide the grate back into place, the door opens.

"How long until the end of our shift again?"

"Like three hours. This is the fifth time you've asked." His friend responds with a note of irritation, walking over to the fridge. "You should have done what I did. We knew we'd miss the meal, so I made some food for later."

"Nobody took it?"

"Heh, there's only one person on this station who likes corned beef other than me. Becky knows I'll cut a bitch if she keeps stealing my food."

"New guy might like it. Wasn't there a dude here the other day?"

"There was, but he left. Pretty sure he was from our 'mysterious benefactor'." There's the sound of a fridge opening as you look down at your sandwich. Corned Beef on Rye. "Huh. I don't see my sandwich."

"Probably got moved to the back. Corned beef tastes like ass."

"Meh." There's a shuffling noise.

"So they left? Didn't say anything?"

"Not to us grunts. Had some words with Hurricane, but that's it far as I know." There's a pause, and then the shuffling speeds up. "Becky you fat bitch, did you eat my sandwich?"

"So what if she did? Make another one, Kev."

"THAT'S NOT THE POINT JAY!" The man yells. "THE POINT IS A MAN'S FOOD IS SACRED. SHE MIGHT AS WELL PISS ON THE BIBLE."

"Dude, Kevin, calm down. There's like half a loaf of Rye in the pantry, and I know there's more beef. Make a new sandwich now, and we'll have a civil chat with Becky to see if she took it later."

"... Alright, fine." 'Kevin' seems a little dejected, but he enters the pantry a moment later. This is followed by loud shuffling noise and a resounding crash. "WHO THE FUCK SPILLED BEANS ALL OVER THE PLACE? DID YOU SPILL BEANS WHEN YOU BROUGHT IN THE CRATE?!?"

You search around the immediate area, and discover a few things of note.

First of all, you were correct in assuming it was a space-station of some kind. Secondly, your Compass works still, because they're in a close enough orbit of the planet that they can use the atmosphere to hide from long range scanners. Third, due to the view from the window and the fact that you have a working compass, you're in the southern tip of the station. The part where you are extends a bit outward on its own, and gain another couple of levels as you head in. Past that there's some sort of vertical spire, so you aren't sure what the rest of the station looks like.

You could try ambushing someone, but you'd like to be better armed for the attempt.

You step past the closer of the two, landing a solid punch to his friends face. While he's staggered you take a half-step back and slam your elbow into the stomach of the man behind you. As he bends over with a pained 'OOF' you garb his shoulders and suplex him into his approaching friend.

A couple of quick kicks while they're down and stunned ensures that they won't be getting up soon.

You search around the area, and see a weapons locker nearby, as well as a few Custom bits.

"A sniper rifle? In a space Station?" Slick asks confused.

"Yes." You respond calmly, slinging it across your back.

"But... why?"

"Have you ever been involved in a shoot-out on a space station?"

"Well, no-"

"Then trust me. Sniper rifles are always a good weapon."

The guards have some spare thermal clips, and a handful of flash grenades. You take them and then stuff the guards in a locker, dislodging a magazine. a quick glance at the cover reveals an Asari embracing a human woman of what looks to be Arabic decent. It doesn't take a genius to realize what's probably inside.

You stuff it in a spare pocket. "Really?" The Major comments in your ear.

"Really." You respond calmly. "It might come in handy."

"How so?"

"I don't know? Swatting a spider? I'm not a fortune teller."

She sighs, and you can see the disappointed shake of her head in your minds eye.

You step out of the room, and hear a beeping come from the intercoms. "All personnel assigned to non-vital tasks, please proceed to the Auditorium on level three. The Commander would like to address you."

Hmm... You could follow, or you could take advantage of the lack of personnel to explore and investigate.

You duck into cover, and wait for a couple of soldiers to pass by.

"... She'll be at that meeting. Bitch can't run from orders."

"Fuck's sake Kev. It's a sandwich."

Oh good. These two will be easy to tail.

You step out and carefully match their steps. From the way they hurry along they're probably the last ones there. After a couple of minutes, you can hear distant noises of a man talking.

The two of them step it out even more, but you slow down and wait. If you can hear them, they'll be easy to find.

As you reach the room, you can hear the talking clearly. "-ank you for your patience and dedication." a deepset voice comments. There's a small but enthusiastic applause. "Without your support, we would never have come this far. And now, we shall go farther than we've ever dreamed!" His voice has some sort of accent. Russian?

You slip in undetected, and thanks to the shadows in the room, you even find a place out of the way to watch the proceedings.

On the stage, you see several individuals not wearing uniform. There's a woman, you're guessing Brazilian with a pair of swords on her back and a red sash acting like a blindfold. There's a black man in a hoodie, with a complicated mechanical apparatus on his back. There's a man with an eyepatch and a solid brick-wall of muscle. You're fairly certain his abs make his bullet-proof as proudly as he displays them. There's also a man wearing a labcoat and smoking a cigarette. He looks disinterested in the whole affair, like he was obligated to put in an appearance.

In front of those four stands a huge man at the podium. Your first, absurd thought it that it's not a man but a partially shaved grizzly, or a Krogan with a mask. He continues his speech as you listen. "Even now, our technicians are finishing the great machine that will herald our new age. Soon my bothers and sisters in arms, we will have no need of these charades and labels. The mask we called the Hornet's Nest will fall and our people will rise together once again!" cheers fill the hall.

Meanwhile, you feel a knot growing in my stomach. "Major, I think this is bigger than we realized."

"No shit." She responds calmly. "Is he saying they're one organization operating through multiple fronts?"

You don't respond, listening in as he continues. "Brothers. Brothers we are, though we fought for different nations, and were born under different flags. We were created for an age of warfare that never came, and the world would have us die so that they could forget we ever were." He almost seems in tears as he says this. I'm not sure if he's faking it, but the effect is incredible. "We will force them to remember. We will remind them of their crimes. We will show them the cost of their arrogance. And we will have a new home. A place where we can be the men we were intended to be!"
>>
>>23750200

The cheers are almost deafening. "Major, you're recording all this?"

"As soon as he's done, I'm forwarding it to the Admiralty." She responds calmly.

"We have a long road ahead of us my brothers, but now we take the first steps." his gaze turns cold. Seize the spy." Your blood runs cold before he points at one of the soldiers in the crowd, and the ones nearest grab them and rip the mask off. A woman? Young too. Maybe twenty two at the Oldest. "O'Neill. Why did you come here girl?"

She glares at him. "You killed my Father. I've come to kill all of you in return!" She declares, forcing the soldiers off of her and leveling the rifle at the man. She squeezes a pair of shots that... are deflected by the blind-folded woman's swords. She freezes, unable to comprehend the woman's speed.

"Take her to the brig." The man commands. "She'll make a valuable hostage." As she's dragged away, he turns to the others behind him. You can barely hear. "We don't know if she told anyone. We shall have to accelerate the timetable. We launch in twelve hours, and nobody sleeps until then." He receives a series of nods, and the assembled soldiers disperse.

What now? Stalk the leaders? Go after the girl? The Major's scrambling on her end to update the situation and get orders, but you have to act NOW.

After the girl. If nothing else, she can serve as a distraction.
>>
>>23764511
Go after the girl. She may be able to provide us with new information, and may prove to be an ally.
>>
You decide to tail the girl. Waiting for everyone else to start clearing the room, you call Blunt. "Blunt, you recognize any of those people?"

"The one with the Hood and the dark skin, pretty sure that's Blackout Tarantula. The labcoat guy might be the 'Doctor' I heard them talking about. I got no idea what he does besides the fact that it isn't an MD he's got." He pauses, thoughtful. "The big Dude I remember. He wasn't a commando when we served together, but he was bragging about mastering a technique that would make him invincible. Strong SOB. Saw him beat a Warlord to death barehanded once, and that takes a quad and a half. Not sure about the girl and the ringleader."

"He could be the commander they talked about." The Major comments.

"I doubt it." Blunt continues. "Last I heard their boss had more gray hair and an eye patch. He's probably one of his lieutenants though if he's in charge here. Never met the higher ups in person."

"It's a start." You comment, peeking around a corner ahead. Some of the escort broke off, so you've got to be close to the brig. Getting any closer is going to be risky though.

"Viper. What're you planning?"

"I'm going after the girl. She could be useful. She might know something, or be willing to play decoy."

"Don't take any unnecessary risks. If they think they can finish whatever they're doing in twelve hours, we don't have time to send someone else in."

You bite your tongue and don't send the comment about how YOU'RE not the one to let the team down, and consider your options. The brig won't be hard to find here, but should busting her out be your number one priority?

"... Alright, I'll trust your judgement. Be careful."

"Of course."

There's a couple of options you can see. First is the front door, not possible without a disguise. Especially since 'operate in pairs' is a hard and fast rule around here.

Nest, there's the inbuilt camera system. You're not sure how you'll talk back to her, but it might work.

You manage to open the flap, and with a running jump you manage to slide cleanly inside while shutting the grate behind you. All in all, you're rather impressed with yourself.

"Wait, are you in the air-ducts?" Blunt asks.

"Nobody ever thinks to check them." You respond. "Besides, if it needs air to reach it, it needs a duct."

"... And for the first time in my life, I can see a downside to being Krogan."

"You mean other than the Genophage, bad reputation, and lack of an inside voice?" Slick comments from somewhere of screen.

"I WILL EAT YOUR SOUL, NERD." He roars.

"Oh noes, save me from the giant angry lizard." He comments, almost bored.

"Gentlemen, a little professionalism please?" Amy interjects timidly.

You sigh as you keep crawling. Pulling you and the Major back in, asking a Krogan to assist, no temp comp at all... this really was a last minute deal wasn't it? the TA must be more desperate than they let on.

You see the first room you cross is some sort of storage closet. The next is an office of some kind. After that you see the guard-room overlooking the cells. "Crazy bitch." One comments to his companion. "Coming in here and trying to shoot the boss?"

"Yeah yeah, I know." The other returns. "Looker though, ain't she?"

"Damn shame we're such a morally upstanding organization." The first comments. "Say what you will about the old Lancers, but they didn't give a fuck about your fun as long as it didn't hurt the team."

"Yeah, well don't let anybody important catch you saying that."

You shake your head in disgust and move on. The first cell is empty, the second holds the girl. You check the third and fourth and confirm they're empty as well before moving back. She's sitting cross-legged on the bed, glaring at the door.

".... Because I'm hiding in the fucking Air-Vents? Do you have any idea how cramped and irritating these things are?"

She calms slightly, and her irritation is no longer directed at you. "Gwendolen. Gwendolen O'Neill."

"Viper."

"The hell kinda name is that?"

"The kind a covert ops specialist uses on the job." You respond easily. "What do you know about what's happening here?"

She looks at you, anger still present but muted by something else. "Something my Father wouldn't like. He helped found the organization, along with a couple of others. There were putting together something big to help a lot of veterans and give themselves some political power. Something the TA couldn't ignore. Then some outsiders show up and promise that the goal could be reached in a couple of months in stead of a few decades." She shakes her head. "Dad didn't trust them. Said something was off. Next thing I know my Dad kills himself and his partner runs headlong into whatever agreement was reached."

"Was he that afraid of losing the moral high ground?"

"I refuse to believe he killed himself. I saw him the day before, and he was happy and cheerful. He was confidant that he'd chase off those bastards." She shakes her head. "That bastard Wolf. I'll bet anything he killed him and took control."

"Here we go." Amy's voice cuts in. "Your girl there's the Daughter of a Colonel Dakota O'Neill. According to the papers we have on file, he's the head of the Hornet's Nest, but it looks like that changed."

"And Wolf?" You sub-vocalize back.

"Lancer Wolf. Not much on the guy, other than the cleanest mission record I've ever seen. Either he's a legend, or someone's hidden it good."

"So what now, you gonna break me out of here?"

>>
"Why? So you can get killed or captured again while blowing my cover?"

"What." She breaths, angry. "What the hell kind of excuse is that?"

"A really good one? If I bust you out, they'll know someone potentially dangerous is on the loose. They have no idea I'm active. Secondly, if I can't make it look like you did it on your own, they'll know more than one person is messing with their plans."

"So I just sit here?"

"No, I was planning on busting you out later so I could blame my meddling on you. I just don't have a plan for that yet." You look around. "Speaking of which, if anyone asks, you're the one who stole the Corned Beef on Rye."

"What?"

"Don't judge me, I was locked in a box for like twelve hours."

"So I just get to sit here and play Damsel in distress until you decide to save me?"

"Oh god, please don't be one of those bitches."

"What the hell is THAT supposed to mean?"

"Good question Viper." The Major asks in your ear.

"You know, the passive aggressive kind that sits there and bombards you with hate rays while pretending everything's find. If I'm going to spending my entire mission tiptoeing through a 'crazy bitch' minefield I'd prefer you were honest about it."

There's a stunned silence from both Gwen and the Command team. "Is.... is that something you deal with often?" Gwen finally manages, awed by your blatant misogyny.

"Sadly yes. Usually with lots of one-sided sexual tension. These damned sneaking suits leave nothing to the imagination." You respond. In your left eye, you can see the Major's jaw hanging slightly open. It's exceptionally difficult to maintain your pokerface.

Suddenly, the door starts to slide open, and the blindfolded woman walks in. "O'Neill. the boss' Daughter?" She asks calmly. Her accent is just thick enough to make her sound... exotic, but still understandable.

"Yeah, at least until you fucks back-stabbed him." She responds, spitting in the woman's face.
>>
>>23766112

She doesn't even flinch, wiping away the wet spot with the back of her hand. "Little girl, be careful who you accuse of what. Your Father was a good man, and his death shocked us all. If there was any truth to what you said, none of us would stand for it."

"Liar." Gwen says it like it's a curse, and the woman delivers a perfect snap-kick to her chin so fast you can barely see it. It clearly wasn't meant to hurt, and as she does is stagger back a few steps in surprise.

"If I saw any evidence to your accusation, I would have long ago killed those responsible. It's clear to me that we're following his will, and achieving his dream even in his absence." She walks to the door, and turns to one of the guards. "Double the guard. Nobody comes or goes without the word of myself or Bear."

"Ma'am." He salutes, and starts talking into his radio as the door shuts.

You toss her the magazine.

"Only reading material worth having." You respond. "You have a Codec?"

"Yeah, I had an extra hidden on me in case I was stripped."

"Awesome. Give me your frequency so we can stay in touch. you know more about these people than I do."

She obliges, and you begin to retreat. You drop off into the unlocked storage room and take a breather while plotting your next move.

>11h 45m until 'project completion'.

You need to neutralize the threats the commandos pose, find out the exact nature of their plans, save a scientist, and bust out Gwen.

What's the next move?

[x] Track blindfolded woman.

You decide to trail the blindfolded woman. Slipping out of the closet, you dodge a couple of patrols who mention her heading to a Cargo Bay nearby.

Near the loading docks you entered through?

You Retrace your steps, and see a landing shuttle. The same one they used to ferry the supplies in you think. Maybe even the same one you rode in on.

You check the cockpit. It looks like the controls are locked unless you have some sort of override, so you'll need to figure that out when you want to leave. You also find a shipping manifest, which helps you decode the navigation system. Apparently those little colored marks you saw on the walls point you in the direction of different parts of the station, and now you know what ones these correspond to.

(Jackpot bonus: Auto-succeed navigation checks for Area 1!)

Moving quickly, you open the door and slide around the corner into the cargo bay. It's got a lot of crates stacked at weird corners, which seems... odd, for storage. The Blindfolded Woman is sitting on a mat in the middle of the floor, meditating.

She doesn't seem to have noticed your presence.

>Actions?
>>
>>23766745
Let's leave her alone, attacking her would raise an alarm and we know nothing about her capabilities aside from the fact that she can probably stab us quite well with her swords.

Take a closer look at the crates, see if there are any identifying markings, keep our distance from her and stay quiet.
>>
>>23766745
Close the door. Then say hello.
>>
>>23766768
>>23766796

So uh.... Differing opinions.....
>>
Is she armed? If not, now is a good time to snipe or pistol shot her, otherwise I vote observe... If we get spotted, I guess we have to try and explain the insanity she's involved in, make her see reason.
>>
>>23766849

She has her swords.
>>

>>
>>23766854

Magic bullet deflecting swords.

Welp. Assassination isn't likely to work.
>>
You decide to ignore her, and search the room for clues instead. Looking around, you see that a lot of the cargo here was things like food and clothes.

The shipping manifest you have indicates some other things that were brought on board that don't seem to be here. Judging by the quantity of discrepancies, there has to be another Cargo Bay somewhere for them to have been stored.

A clue?

There's a sharp clicking noise from somewhere behind you, but when you turn to look you don't see anything. Not even the Woman.

Wait, what?

You leap backwards, trying to dodge the stroke, but are only moderately successful. Your parry of the next strike keeps her from taking your head.

"Hmmm.... Better than I was expecting. Are you the one who was speaking with the girl earlier?"

"..... Maybe. Who are you?"

"I am Hurricane Tuatara. And you are trespassing."

"Am I? I thought I was fighting Terrorists."

"Terrorists? A convenient label for the oppressors against those who choose to fight back. Have you considered that you're the one supporting the wrong cause?"

"What?"

"When these eyes were blinded, my third eye opened. I see past the lies and hypocrisy the Alliance spews. I washed my hands of them, and in return they framed me for my brother's murder and put a price on my head."

"And that excuses a planet killing weapon?"

"Without an adequate deterrent, we cannot survive in the open. We will be hunted like dogs."

"And the blackmail?"

"Only what was already owed us from our service. Our demands are not, on the whole, unreasonable. But apparently they needed to try and place one more obstacle between us and freedom." She draws her second sword. "And so you've come to kill us."

"Your Eye doesn't see everything." You say. "You've got a dead man with no reason to kill himself, and someone with a lot to gain."

"Lies. Lancer's not a murderer. I've seen his very soul, he believes in our cause more than anything! His passion is indisputable!"

"Passion's a good way to blind yourself. Can you really not see how insane your plan is?"

"The inner eye requires balance before all else. Shall we make it a bet?" she sticks the point of a sword into the ground in front of her. "If you can land one attack." She holds up a single finger slowly. "I'll admit that you're right."

"If I can't?" You respond, checking your thermal clip.

"Then I'll carve you into ribbons."

I fire a pair of shots at her, but she parries them laughing as she drops behind the crates. There's a series of clicks around the perimeter like people snapping their fingers in rapid succession. What the?

Back off, get distance, we don't want to be by sword bitch for long. Retreat to 10 and then once we're behind cover there head towards 5.

Ignore what I just wrote, that was for Hurricane. Instead after we go to 10 hide behind 9 and prepare to shoot her in the back as she heads towards 5. This might fail horribly.

The third impacts her shoulder. The shield stopped it from hurting, but the impact gouges the paint on her shoulder guard.

She freezes, dropping her swords and taking a couple of slow steps backwards and a hand brushes the scratch.

"That.... that isn't possible...."

"I've seen crazier things happen." You respond calmly. "You ready to talk yet?"

She freezes like a deer in the headlights and suddenly explodes into action.
