It's that time again, /tg/! Looking back, I've noticed these threads used to be a lot longer... Let's see if we can't fix the shortage in posts today, shall we? I will not rest until we break 120 posts! Only quality, mind. I do have SOME standards...

You are the Long Fangs tribe, a primitive tribe of peoples on the cusp of the Bronze Age. With the assistance of your heroes and the guidance of your gods, it falls to you to guide your people through the ages, steering them through good times and bad, towards their eventual, far-off destiny. Do you think you are up to the task? Can you (to steal a phrase) build a civilization to stand the test of time?

>When last we left our heroes..!
>The battle at the gates of the fox-folk village was finally enough to lure Ilfa out of hiding. Trym and Lentay both leapt to the attack, but Ilfa kept the two of them separated with a wall of fire, buying her enough time to wound the fox-folk hero, possibly mortally. Leaping through the flames however, Trym comes to the defence of his fallen comrade!

Ilfa licks the blood of the fallen fox-folk warrior from her claws, her yellow eyes transfixing Trym, as she prowls back and forth. "You think you can fare any better?" she purrs, "Come then, mortal. I'm right here, if you have the courage to take my life." Ilfa opens her arms, stepping back, as though daring Trym to strike. Try as he might though, the warrior finds himself impossible to move, in the face of the predatory glare.

"Trym!" Derrik's voice cuts through the roar of the flames and the louder roar of Trym's blood, pounding in his ears. At once, the supernatural fear drains from the warrior, as the strength of the pack returns, filling him with confidence. A bear is strong, a fox is wily, but the wolf is many and together, it can bring down prey many times its power. "I won't interfere," the old priest calls, staying back by the circle of Yotaha's fox-folk, "What would you have me do? Lentay is hurt badly, but I don't doubt I could still assist you! Remember the battle with the Lion Tribe champion?" Trym casts his mind back and nods; in that fight, the Lion Tribe's shaman had empowered their champion by way of magic. Maybe Derrik could do the same here?

What should Derrik do?
A) Tend to Lentay; he needs help
B) Aid Trym though magic
C) Other
>>
>>23808937

B. Well, I'd hate to see Lentay die buuuut we've kinda thrown all of our hopes on Yotaha winning and losing Derriks magic might not end so well. Sorry, Lentizzle. Gotta be practical.
>>
>>23808937
B) If Trym dies, it is over for Lentay anyway.
>>
>>23808937
I think Lentay is a pretty cool guy that could need some medical attention...
On the other hand, the fight shouldn't take too long, maybe other foxes can tend him and also Trym could probably use some MAGICK.

I say B)
Even if Lentay dies, he wanted to see her dead anyway.
>>
>>23807735
On the one hand, I want to post saying "Ahoy captain!"

On the other, I want to squeeze as many updates from you as possible, so I'll combine shit for now.

>>23808937
C) "No, you tend to Lentay. I'm the Godslayer, damn it, and it's time I show this furry tailed slut why!"
>>
>>23809042
Agreed.
>>
Guys, come on now.

Remember the Sunrise Conflicts? We waged war against an enemy without the help of the gods, and until Ermetha decided to lolhax us with lazorbams we were actually WINNING.

This fight isn't just about settling a conflict. This fight should be a message to ALL the gods of the Deepwoods, a message that states clearly:

>Don't
>Fuck
>With
>Humans

We killed the wolf Hrunti in single combat! We defeated Groza in single combat! Why not add another notch to our godslaying belt?

Plus, if word spreads around the forest that there is a man capable of killing one as cunning as Ilfa, the other forest gods will be less likely to fuck with us.

Fight Ilfa as a Man, let the gods tend to the fallen.

We're Trym FUCKING Godslayer, our very name is proof of our ability. Assert the dominance of Man! We will not be pawns in the games of the Gods!

"No, you tend to Lentay. I'm the Godslayer, damn it, and it's time I show this furry tailed slut why!" Trym grins, a hunger for blood awakening in him; another trait of the wolf spirit called up by Derrik earlier. Ilfa blinks and gives a strained smile as her followers collectively take a sharp breath.
"You talk big, human," she hisses, "But you'll soon regret those words. Don't worry though; I'll make sure you don't have long to regret them too much!"
"Wait, sister!" Yotaha's voice cuts through the tension like a knife, as she steps from between the crowds of her followers, "I offer you this one chance: Surrender. Trym is not known as Godslayer for no reason. If you die here, you will pass unremarked and unremembered. Is that truly what you wish? Cool your fire and there needs be no more war between us."
"Save it," sniffs Ilfa, an arrogant look crossing her features, "I've heard your argument before, sister. You won't change anything. I will pass unrememberd; so what? That has always been the way it has been. Your love of the humans' words has dulled your wild spirit. After I have slain this one, I will feast on your heart in short order!" she points a claw at Trym and grins ferally, "Prepare to die, human. I am nothing like those sleepy, stumbling, half-made gods you have faced before. I am Ilfa, the spirit of the fox and you are nothing but my prey!"

DUEL START
TRYM 32HP
ILFA 51HP

Ilfa flexes her wrist and fingers, glancing down at her claws, as she stands tall and arrogant.
"You'll not live long enough to regret your foolishness, human," she purrs.
She seems almost at ease, her posture giving very little away and the sway of her tails adding an extra distraction as their movement camouflages and conceals her own a little.

>Chose ATTACK, DEFEND, or SPECIAL

"You will not live long enough to regret your arrogance!"
>>
>>23810006
Second, I'd like to see the rules
>>
>>23809972
DUEL
Duels will be decided via a rock-paper-scissors sytem.
A ferocious ATTACK beats a readied DEFENCE, dealing light damage.
A powerful SPECIAL will defeat and ATTACK'S raw power, dealing heavy damage.
A readied DEFENCE will deflect a SPECIAL, dealing moderate damage.
Two ATTACKS will result in a stand-off. At the moment, the odds are 50/50 that your hunter will win and deal MODERATE damage
Two SPECIALS will result in both parties taking moderate damage.
Two DEFENCES will result in a stand-off and neither party will take damage.

Watch your opponent's mannerisms and try to predict his moves!
>>
>>23810010
Might as well.
>>
>>23809972
She's too calm, I think she's angry enough that she's gonna attack though. Trym should Special.

Calmness could be readying defenses though.

"Damn your words to whatever hell awaits you! I am Trym Godslayer, Champion of Humanity!" Trym bellows, as he charges forward, leading with his spear!
With a snarl, Ilfa's eyes gleam and she strikes forward, her beautiful features twisted into a savage, bloodthirsty mask! She manages to lock her grip around Trym's spear as she struggles to sink her claws into the warrior, their raw strength telling the outcome of this clash!

Ilfa heaves with all her might, her power despite her slight frame catching Trym by surprise! She forces the spear back and her claws rake Trym's chest and scale vest, before he stumbles back, gasping and using his spear's reach to claim some breathing room!

Ilfa laughs victoriously, "Your scales won't save you long. What's wrong? I thought you were a man, not a snake."

Wary of a trap, Trym hangs back, gripping his spear. Ilfa regards him for a moment, then clicks her tongue in disgust.
Her tails suddenly freeze still as the blue flames suddenly flare. With a snarl of frustration, she sweeps her arm forward, sending nine bolts of flame roaring towards Trym!
The hero of the Long Fangs is ready for such trickery however, his experience besting gods having prepared him for such magic. Trym spins his spear in his hands deflecting the first bolt to come close. The heat washes over him and scorches the shaft, but he remains un-touched. Taking advantage of the opening his defence created, Trym lunges forward, in defiance of his natural urge to flee from danger. Thrusting forward with his spear, Trym only retains a grip on the very end of the spear shaft, giving him astonishing reach. Right on target, the spear lashes out and only Ilfa's reactionary swipe with her clawed hand saves her from being impaled. The crowd looks on in astonishment, as Trym pulls back his spear and rises from his crouch and Ilfa licks the bleeding cut across her hand and forearm.

"You'll pay for that," the fox-goddess growls, flexing her claws of her wounded hand, as she pulls her fur cape free with her un-injured claws and tossing it aside. "I'm going to take pleasure in killing you slowly." She lowers her body, her tails raised and waving as she grips the ground with her unharmed hand, her body tensed.

Sensing his chance, Trym draws his sword, hefting his spear in his left hand and sword in his right. Anticipating Ilfa's animalistic ferocity, he lunges, intending to use the spear to pin her and the blade to finish her off..! But to his shock, Ilfa counters with a short-lived burst of blue fire. Temporarily blinded by the flames, Trym has no time to react, as Ilfa lunges within reach of his spear and hurtles past him, her claws raking a bloody gash across his flank, right where the scales were torn from his vest by the battle earlier!

Standing again, Ilfa keeps her back to Trym, but he can hear the mocking smile in her voice, "Do not think too highly of yourself, human. I am nothing like those you have faced before." The flames of the still-burning wall provide an eerie backdrop as she starts to taunt the warrior. "Can you feel it? Your blood and strength ebbing away? You're not long for this world. I'll see to that." She flexes her hand and though camouflaged against the burning wall, Trym just manages to notice the azure fire spring up around Ilfa's hand and forearm.

I've still got faith.

As I said in chat, Trym should have the trait Unkillable as many times as he has almost died. He's our very own Rasputin, really.

Unkillable - Grants a boost to strength and speed when HP falls critical. Just sayin'.

(DEFEND)

"You're right, you flaccid tailed bitch, I'm not long for this world. I want nothing more to do with this place after I've killed you."
>>
Off topic but I think we should discuss the river people.

Trym has a son, who lives with them, before the war they were our bitches, and relied on us, but if i remember rightly, they have begun being difficult with us and increasing their ties with the people further downstream.

Next time we visit them we need to get Trym's son back living with us, regardless of his fathers victory or defeat in this battle it is worth training him as the next warrior. We need to show our authority, also when did we last meet them? I'm concerned they may have been trading with the people further down stream and may be overtaking us. They are our bitches and they need reminding of that, if not just for the fact they are our closest neighbors and I'd prefer we told them what to do than anything else.

Thoughts?

I think after this trip to the woods is over, visiting them should be a priority.
>>
Seeing the blue flames roiling over Ilfa's skin, Trym knows to expect an unearthly attack. Sure enough, Ilfa pivots and lashes out with her burning arm, a sheet of flame leaping forth and incinerating everything before it! Trym is too fast for it however. Ignoring the pain in his side, the hero dashes forward, planting is spear into the ground and jumping with all his might! Leaping into the air, using his spear as a pole-vault, the hunter lands before Ilfa with a heavy thud a grunt of pain. Thinking fast though, he lashes out with his blade, cutting across the fox-spirit's abdomen. The wound is not as deep as it could be, but the gash still bleeds profusely and elicits a howl of pain from Ilfa, as she stumbles back.

Snarling with hate, Ilfa glares at Trym in undisguised loathing. The wall of blue flame roars, burning high into the sky, before collapsing on itself and wrapping around Ilfa's body. Every inch of her burns with blue flame as she bares her teeth and flexes her claws.

I concur, I suppose.

We do have an agreement with them though to be honest. Trym took a bride from their tribe and he lives there 6 months each year. Then their kid was supposed to be raised in their tribe to learn their ways.

Clearly things have changed since then but that might well touch off a diplomatic crisis.

Attack. Finish this bitch.

'The hand of Trym knows no fear.'
>>
>>23813070
Special, we will not fail this time.
>>
>>23813100
Agreed, but we must still be superior to them in terms of warriors, and if they have been trading with the guys further down stream we can use that as an excuse to pull the Kid out. Claim that we wanted them to learn their customs, not the bastardised stuff he is now learning.

But even if you don't want to get him back, I still think a diplomatic mission is in order... also any idea on age of the son?
>>

We might not want to insult them though to be honest. I mean, they are a sizable tribe and if they are being backed by the spray folks then we'd be outclassed as far as weaponry.

I do agree to a diplomatic mission to them though. Them and the ES since it has been well over a year since they told us to gtfo.

Wary of yet another magical attack, Trym holds back... A mistake, as it turns out. Ilfa lunges forward with a scream, her mocking words forgotten now, as she lashes out with her claws. Though he does his best to ward off her attacks, Ilfa's strikes are just too inhumanly fast! Though she cannot land a telling blow, her claws, wrapped in burning, blue flames, scorch and cut Trym in a dozen places, before he can hastily fall back.

Fighting his way through the blinding pain, Trym lifts his spear, knowing full well what is coming now. Ilfa howls, her tails fanning behind her as a seemingly endless rain of burning bolts lashes towards Trym like a hailstorm. Having only moments to react, Trym hurls himself to the ground. Though a few of the bolts of blue fire do indeed find their mark, he escapes the worst of the storm. As it passes, Trym looks up, just in time to see Ilfa diving bodily for him! Acting on pure instinct, Trym lifts his spear between himself and Ilfa..! Changing her direction mid-flight proves too much for her and with a choking gasp of shock, Ilfa falls onto the beaten-copper point of the spear, being impaled clean through her breastbone. Her hands try to move, to push herself up as she paws feebly at the ash-wood staff of the spear, but slowly, strength leaves her limbs and she looks down at Trym, her face a mask of pain, fear and regret, as she dies.
