>It feels rather strange, without Einstein hovering behind you, but he's with Damien right now.

Your name is Heather Leery, and you're currently piloting Wyvern up to the station of the Psionic Institute. You can see the backward crescent that was the demiurg ship following you, having just pulled out of bubble drive.

"Alright, Heather." Anna's voice came over the radio. "What you'll need to do is simple. Orient your docking port with the station's... and there should be a readout that shows you your relative speed with the station. Adjust your speed until you're at about a hundred meters a second or so, and then slow toward it. Okay?"
"Okay." You respond, and carefully make your way toward the station.
A light flickered on when you were only twenty meters away. The readout said... automatic docking procedure.
"Just hit the button." Anna's voice came, and you pressed it. The docking ports hissed out of the station and the Wyvern, and with small ion thrusters, they oriented themselves properly, and clasped together. The ship shook quite a bit as the docking ports retracted, pulling the station and wyvern closer to one another, and then locking into place. It didn't shake nearly as much as it did when Anna was piloting... so that must have been your mistake.
"Max already has a docking bay open for me, here." Anna said. "I'll set it down inside."
>>
>>23839417
"Aye-Aye, Cap'n!"
>>
>>23839417
"That was surprisingly easy. Thanks, Anna."
>>
>>23839417
"Woo! We're all rich!"
>>
"That was surprisingly easy." You say. "Thanks, Anna."
"I had a lot more trouble when I learned." Anna said. "Probably because I wasn't technopathic."

"I'm going to go unstrap Sarvesh." Summer said, and climbed out of the bed, her human manifestation vanishing. She was also carrying her kitten manifestation in her mouth, where it hung there. Some time later, Sarvesh and Summer drifted out, and waved
Some time later, Anna poked her head into the docking port, looking down the hall at you in the cockpit.
"We're all rich!" You say.
"We will be, after Ferret gets the money." Anna responded. "Come on. Let's get some lunch, and then we can go check over the alien ship. Maybe if we bang our heads together, we can see what it can do."

find max

tell him what we found and play the records...

>do we keep the ishelda after collecting the bounty or does the govt. take the ship?
>>
>>23839710
Normally the original owner would retain the ship, but since there is no original owner, we have salvage rights. They'll probably ask us to donate it regardless.

Even if we didn't though, we could still use that money to buy a new ship.
>>
I want to keep the Ishelda if at all possible.
>>
>>23839710
>The bounty is essentially selling the ship back to the govt.

"I think I'll go find max." You say, and wave at Anna, Sarvesh, and Summer as you make your way to the hub, and take the lift down to the highest floor of the station.

You find Max in hydroponics, lying on his back, panting and basking in the blue light of the sun.
"Oh!" He said, and got to his paws. "Welcome back. How did things go?"
>>
No one died, we recovered the Ishelda and we discovered a Void Queen shield thing so good!

Bad news is Dimiurge showed up so at the very least the Void Queen can control them, and maybe teleport them.
>>
>>23839776
"Quite good, actually. Sarvesh was shot."

"He's fine, but we learned something interesting and we might have a way to ward off the Void Queen."
>>
>>23839776
Did we bring the strange not!bubble drive device?
>>
>>23839776
not so good we were attacked first by the ships automated defenses then the void queen, and last but not least by the demiurge; but we found out her weaknesses and got massively rich...also there is nothing worse on a psychic level than standing in a colony ship cryo hold where everyone is dead...
>>
>>23839776
"Sarvesh suffered what he considers to be a minor injury, but other than that it went well.

We've discovered evidence that the Void Queen was the one who originally attacked that ship. There were psychics aboard it as well.
We've also discovered an effective shield against her that works very similarly to a bubble drive, and have reason to believe that the Void Queen is either controlling or working with the Demiurge."
>>
>>23839776
"Good news and bad news, Max. Which do you want first?"

"Good news is that no one was killed or mortally wounded, we recovered the ship, a defense field and learned some valuable information."

"Bad news is the Demiurg showed up, and they have bubble drives."
>>
>>23839812
this and we might have a way to ward off the Void Queen."
>>
"Quite good, actually." You say. "Sarvesh was shot."
"... That doesn't sound good." Max noted.
"He's fine, but we learned something interesting, and we might have a way to ward off the void queen."
"Oh, really?"
You quickly explain how the device works, and then you play the two logs that you'd stored on your omnitool, so Max could hear them.
Max was quiet for some time.
"And you brought this device with you?"
"It's plugged into Wyvern right now." You say.
"Good. Do you think you could recreate it, if nessecary?"
You think about it.
"Then I'll set Keen onto reverse engineering it." Max said. "At least we know the concept - that the void queen has... conceptual problems with things she can't understand. That implies she has very limited clairvoyance. You said that the control computer for the engines were destroyed?"
You nod.
"... This is actually all very good news." Max said, then his ears perked up. "And I seem to recall there being a cash payment if you find an ancient colony ship and send it to the UPA."
"Bad news is the Demiurg showed up, and they have bubble drives."
"Yes, we'll inform the navy about that." Max said. "It will probably cause a minor panic, but then their command will likely scout all of the demiurg worlds to see if any of them have bubble drives."
>>
>>23839912
"Yep, the bounty was 55 million. We're planning to split it evenly, so we're all 10 million richer."

<Salvaged an old ship.Picked one up for myself, too, and gotta split the money with friends who helped me get it, so it's more like ten million.> You explain. <... I was thinking, what do you two want for christmas?>

Damien was simply standing there, arms crossed, frowning.
"I didn't mean to hurt your feelings." You say, and give him a hug. "Also, I just won the lottery."

"Yup!" You say. "We captured the demiurg ship. Not sure what I'm going to do with it, but at the very least it'll be good for parts. Anna was worried about that for a bit. The Demiurg having the bubble drive isn't a good thing."
"Well, I have a little trick I've been practicing." Damien said. "Psychometry. Like I did with the keypad on that other station. I could see where the drive came from, if it'd help."
"I need to have lunch, then me and Anna are going to go over it." You say. "Come get lunch with me."
"I'd be glad to." He said with a shrug.

The two of you said your goodbyes to Max, made your way down the hydroponics ladder, and down the ramps to the cafeteria. When you make your way in, you only see Jilly - who's currently hugging Anna and flashing yellow - and Anna herself, being hugged. A small tiger kitten was on the table, nibbling at Anna's food.
"... Oh my god that is adorable." Damien said. "Kitty!"
>>
Yes she is.

Never... ever... ever let Alex touch her.

>>
"It's a little baby summer! Alex is never allowed to touch it."
"Of course, he'd make her vanish." Damien said, plucking Lil'summer into his arms, scratching her ears and chin.
"I feel bad about Alex not being able to touch her." You say. "It's good to see you managed okay while we were gone, Jilly! Pity there wasn't enough space for everyone, so you two had to stay here, even if it wasn't all fun."
"That's fine." She said. "From what Anna's been saying, soon you'll have your own ship, so there will be space for all of us!"
Anna just went back to her fries. She looked worried, still - about the Demiurg, you felt from her, through telepathy.
>>
>>23840684
Oh man, I didn't even realize there was a practical reason for not letting Alex touch the kitty.
>>
>>23840684
hey Damien tell every on what you have been working on how you can track the ship back to wear it was made

>>23840684
<You alright, Anna?>

"Yup! I might even be able to upsize my plans and make something even bigger!"
>>
<You alright, Anna?>
<I need to get bigger guns.> She responded. <Or start using more pyrokinesis. I don't even know if I can use it in a vacuum, so I need to learn.>
"Yup! I might even be able to upsize my plans and make something even bigger!" You say, and then suddenly four fuzzy paws gripped your hair.
Damien had plunked Lil'summer on your head, and went to the kitchen to grab some food.
"Hey, Damien, tell everyone what you have been working on." You call out, as lil'summer nibbles on your hair.
"Psychometry's had a long history. Pseudoscience, for the most part, but I figured why not." Damien said. "I've been learning to touch things and see their history. It's easier than looking forward, after all."
>>
>>23840839
"Which means he should be able to see where that bubble drive came from! I think it's more likely that someone gave it to them, rather than them building it themselves."

I thought we would have learned our lesson about mind-touching things that came from the Void Queen by now. Enjoy your possessed Damien.

>>23840839
"Here, test it on Einstein!"
>>
"Which means he should be able to see where that bubble drive came from! I think it's more likely that someone gave it to them, rather than building it themselves." You say. "Here, Test it on einstein."
"Right, okay." He said, and touched the floating sphere. He closed his eyes for a moment.
"You were seven. Er, eight. It was storming and dark, and you were cold and scared. You reached into a drawer trying to find a battery to repair einstein, and then you... couldn't find them. But then you manifested them, unscrewed the casing, and changed Einstein's batteries."
He tilted his head slightly.
"And then just a few weeks ago, your mother put a quantum router into Einstein, setting him up. Wow, she's actually kind of hot."

He bit his tongue, and tilted his head the other way.
"... He was created when you were... five? I think? At the time he was simply a sphere that talked to you to keep you calm. Like a stuffed animal, except instead it was a mechanical computer object. You called in Eye Stain."

Damien shrugged.
"Can you do that on a person?"
"I could try, but it would be really personal." Damien said.
"Not me." Anna said.
"Do it to me!" Jilly said.
"Right, okay." Damien said, and put his hand on her shoulder.
"This shirt was made in.. No, no, that's the shirt." He said, and moved his hand lower on her arm. "... You were born primarily of your mother's clutch, with three or four eggs of another nagala's clutch. .. And your mom is hotter than Heather's, if you're curious." He said. "You were... ergh..." Damien said, and he started swaying. He pulled his hand off of her arm. "It's... dizzying to do this, sorry."

"... You weren't disgusted by what you saw?" Jilly asked. "About my... birth?"
"... Why would I be?" Damien asked, and shrugged. "It's just biology. It's no more disgusting than it is for humans. At least, not in my opinion."
>>

"childbirth is never pretty, but being able to create a whole new person makes it beautiful."

>>
>>23841191
Most of the sperm dies when humans mate as well. It's just that you develop more before most potential children die.
>>
>>23841191
"This could have a lot of good practical applications, it's pretty neat!"
>>
"Life is life, Jilly. There's not much more you can do." You say. "And it's not so different from human fertilization. Most of the sperm dies when humans mate as well. It's just that you develop more, before most potential children die."
"They don't die. They're actually, um... integrated into my body. They're um.. what my tongues are made out of." Jilly said, closing her eyes, and then she sighed. "I'm not looking forward to bearing my own clutch."
"How does, um, all that work?" Damien asked.
"When I get old enough - a few months ago at the earliest, I get a few... urges to go find a nice, damp spot, dig a hole, and lay a clutch." She said.
"It's involuntary?" Anna asked, and Jilly nodded.
"And then most choose to trade parts of their eggs for the most diversity, but I don't know what I'm going to do." Jilly said.
>>
>>23841438

Well, it's not like you have to go and plan it all out right now, do you? You can burn that bridge when you get to it.
>>
>>23841438
"Well, is the egg trading just a casual thing nagala do, or is it more intimate? Because if it's more casual, I'd bet that you could find a group on the exanet for egg sharing. Or you could call home and see if there's anyone there with eggs. It's not like we don't have ships to use, after all."
>>
>>23841438
"You could always take a couple days off and go home."
>>
"Well, it's not like you have to go and plan it all out right now, do you? You can burn that bridge when you get to it."
"It could happen any day." Jilly said. "So I have to prepare."
"Well, is the egg trading just a casual thing Nagala do, or is it more intimate? Because if it's more casual, I'd bet that you could find a group on the exanet for egg sharing."
"... That's a good idea." She said. "Everyone wants humanlike transgenes nowadays, so I could just... give all of my eggs away. I wouldn't need to raise anyone."
>>
>>23841593
"Do you only lay one clutch? It would be a shame if never had any offspring."
>>
>>23841593
But you will grow more eggs later, right? You should keep the option of raising your children open, I think.
>>
"Do you only lay one clutch? It would be a shame if you never had any offspring."
"We lay clutches every few years." Jilly said. "Until we get too old, but they can stimulate the clutch-laying instinct with hormones, if I really wanted. Or I could even save one egg, freeze it, and clone an entire clutch eventually."

"Huh. Well, Good luck with whatever you choose." You say, and continue eating.
"So, Anna, want to go look at that alien ship now?"
"Sure!" Anna responded, and Damien got to his feet as well.

The three of you made your way up a ramp, and then down, and back up, until Anna pulled open a door, and on the other side... was an alien ship. It was a crescent, upon first glance, with the front as the long line of the curve, the rear of the ship the back. It was very thin, but large. The back of the ship was stuffed with ion thrusters of all sorts, and the power systems... didn't feel like it was nuclear. There was a heatshield on the bottom, and strange, alien scoops on the top and bottom.

"This is the demiurg ship." Anna said. "I'd guess it's from the Nalchak system, because the scoops are designed to gather hydrogen from the gas giant there."
>>
>>23841792

"Hydrogen scoops?" You ask. "Is it packing an itty bitty fusion reactor? What about the ion drives? Do they run on phaeron? I would've thought the UPA kept that a secret as well."
"They tried." She said. "They don't have any of the algae required to make phaeron, so they have to synthesize it, but they got it working. The reactor, well... they put the hydrogen in as fuel cells."
"What do you think we should do with it? strip it for parts and salvage it, or keep it and refit it?"
"That's your choice, fundamentally." She said. "The power system isn't very good, and the hull revolves entirely around said power system... and the computers are all designed for demiurg software, and those thrusters are pretty much better than anything you can find in UPA space."
She shrugged. "Probably best to strip it for parts."

"Yeah, I'll probably strip it and make the ship I designed. This is going to be so fun!"
>>
>>23841944
"Hmm, looks like I'm keeping the thrusters and fusion reactor in that case."
>>
>>23841944
Let's keep the computers too. Then we can technopath alien tech!
>>
>>23841944
what's the story behind the drive? would it be suitable to use for my ship?
>>
"Then that's what we'll do. Sounds like the only parts I'd want are the thrusters and bubble drive. What's the hull material like?"

Anna looked closely at it. "It's an alloy. Lighter and thinner than polycarbon, with polycarbon struts to hold it together. Much lighter than the ships we have, but not as strong."
She sighed. "But they're getting better at polycarbon. The demiurg are smart. Smarter than we are, certainly, they're just a bit behind on the technology race, and they're nowhere near as communicative with the rest of their people. I hope that it's only one warlord who got a bubble drive, and didn't give it away to anyone."
"Damien, what's the story behind the drive?" You ask, and he nodded, putting his hand on the front bubble drive.
"Would it be suitable to use for my ship?"
"It looks like it would be. It's a small drive, not very good for anything like this... it'd be about as fast as the shuttle that took you here. Less than a hundred kC." Anna said. "You could probably buy more parts for a bubble drive and wed it all together, maybe, for more speed. You'd really need to know how bubble drives work, in that case, and if you programmed it wrong, it'd tear you apart."

Damien paled.
Visibly.

<Heather.> He said, his mental voice rather... stunned. <... This drive was made on the moon of Haegoth. It was... Given. To the demiurg. Literally given.>

"What?!" You ask, aloud. "Who would do that?"
"... I have to go." Damien said. "I have to go home."

He stomped out of the bay, and you shared a look with Anna before the two of you followed him.
"Damien, what's going on?"
"... My father's secretary arranged for the bubble drive to be sent into Demiurg space, complete with a beacon and a translated message for warlord Grimaukh." Damien said. "I need to find out what's going on. Personally."

"Who's your father by the way?"
>>
"Not without help, you're not."
"Yes without help." He said. "I'm going alone."
"It's dangerous to go alone." You say. "The void queen may very well be involved. Secondly, we should talk to Max."
"Yes, tell the UPA that my dad's committing treason." Damien said.
"Wait, wait wait." You say. "Calm down."

You grab his arm, and he finally stops walking.
"... This is exactly the kind of plotting we need to expect. The Void Queen may very well be controlling this secretary, using this event to lure you in, kill you, and obtain your powers." You say.
"I can see the future." Damien said. "I would see if that happened."
"What does your father do?"
"He's the governor of Haestrom's moon." Damien said.
>>
>>23842296
>haestrom
>Haegoth, even. Whoops!
>>
>>23842296
"You didn't see the attack in my dream *until* she'd made her move. She's waiting for you."

"Here's what we'll do, I'll help out Keen with that force-field thing, then we'll make a backpack sized version and go visit your father."
>>
>>23842296

"we could go as a group, under pretend that you wanted to show us around."

Jilly would be very useful in getting mental information.
>>
>>23842296
"Look, even if you could see it coming, what would you do about it besides return having accomplished nothing? Even if it's a coincidence, which is unlikely, your dad might not be the ringleader, in which case you're in real danger going alone."
>>
>>23842296
"The void queen is able to manipulate our powers. You have not been able to see her the last time and you might not see her the next time."
>>
"Look, you didn't see the attack in my dream *until* she'd made her move." You say. "She's waiting for you."
"But I have to... I have to do something." He said.
"Look, even if you could see it coming, what would you do about it besides return having accomplished nothing? Even if it's a coincidence, which is unlikely, your dad might not be the ringleader. In which case, you're in real danger going alone."

"She didn't attack you two on Heaven's Jewel, did she?" Damien suddenly asked.
Anna and you met eyes again.
"No." Anna said.
"Precisely." He said. "She doesn't want people to see. Haegoth is under high supervision, unlike the backwater Burer's Glyph. People will notice if she does anything there. I'll be okay. And you guys are still drained from earlier today, so we'd have to wait a few days before we go, and I need to go now."
>>
>>23842442

"I don't like this one bit, isn't there ANYTHING we can do to help?"
>>
>>23842442
"Look at what happened to Alex, though. What if she's had time to control everyone, and it doesn't matter if the see it or not, because the won't remember it."
>>
>>23842442

we should check is the moon still has entanglement. void bitch can't do shit if that's active.
>>
>>23842442
"Very well. Still is there anything we can help with?"
>>
>>23842442
At least take Jilly with you.
>>
"Look at what happened to Alex, though." You say. "What if she's had time to control everyone, and it doesn't matter if they see it or not, because they won't remember it."
"When I said supervision, I meant that they're... high scale. We're important. Haegoth is the foremost producer of bubble drives in UPA space. People would notice if it went dark, and we have plenty of cameras."
"... I don't like this one bit." You say. "Isn't there anything we can do to help?"

Damien bit his lip.
"... there's no reason not to bring you, after all." He said.

"Anna. You'll likely be useless." Damien said. "The gravity is too high for you, and I know you're not good planetside."
Anna shot him a glare.
"I can bring Jilly, because she's full up, but Sarvesh is injured, and Summer won't go when I ask her because she wants to train her power." Damien said. "And I can't bring Alex because he tends to throw everything off."

He met your eyes. "Are you willing to come with me?"
>>
>>23842617
Of course I will. Jilly can come too.

I do have a habit of changing your visions though, but I'll follow your lead unless things go wrong somehow.
>>
>>23842617
"Of course! I was just trying to convince you to let me come!"
>>
>>23842617

"if they gave away one bubble drive, they might do it again."

"i will go with you."
>>
Hey guys, I've got an idea. If Summer is best at manifesting things from stories, maybe we could turn her on to shows or movies with things for her to manifest. Like future-Gundam. She said she wants to manifest things that are bigger and stronger, and if she became a big enough fan, then she could manifest them.

Thoughts?
>>
Just make sure we check that Sarvesh is alright before we leave.
>>
>>23842617
"Yes. I'll grab some high calorie snacks and stuff before we head off as well."

"If you get bored, go ahead and disassemble the Demiurg ship, Anna."
>>
>>23842694
get her to read Blame! the GBE is a great weapon
>>
>>23842617
couldn't stop me if you tried when do we leave

(grab anna) "how about a kiss for good luck ?"
>>
>>23842710

While it'd wreck everything, that's practically ancient by the time this quest takes place. Maybe future-Blame! though. Depends on Exa, I suppose.
>>
>>23842694

she would have to understand how they work though, maybe biological things would be better since she has done that perfectly without any examples.

she might be able to manifest dinosaurs if she has trained enough.
>>
>>23842727

We could get to try manifesting dragons, too, instead of knights. Or other kinds of monsters.
>>
"Of course! I was just trying to convince you to let me come!"
"... Were you?" He asked. "Huh."
"Yeah, I'll grab some high calorie snacks and stuff before we head off as well." You say. "And we need to check that Sarvesh is alright before we go."
"Fair enough." He said. "We need to figure out how to get there, too." He said. "The Wyvern won't work, and we'd need to tell Max where we're going to let him allow us to use the transport shuttle... How about your new ship?" He asked.
>>
>>23842712
Why would you do that? You know it's just going to lead to a dozen "no, fuck off!" posts, then arguments against those posts.
>>
>>23842761
"Depends. Think we can get this thing to fly, Anna?"
>>
>>23842761
"I'm not sure it's sea-uh, space-worthy and safe yet, what do you think Anna? Will it be okay?"
>>
>>23842761
"Seems like a good idea to bring the evidence with us."
>>
>>23842761
I'd love to try it out.

You'll have to bear with me if it flies a little slow, and I have to change the transponder over before we leave.
>>
>>23842761

"I have no idea how to fly that thing."
>>
>>23842824
With technopathy.
>>
>>23842761
"If you want to bring the new ship, you'll have to make nice with Anna."
>>
"I have no idea how to fly that thing. And I'm not sure if it's sea.. uh, space worthy and safe yet. What do you think, Anna? Will it be okay?"
"... Maybe you could fly it exclusively with technopathy." Anna said. "But it's not comfortable, and you'd need human sized chairs for the G-forces. How about this, Damien. I'll fly you all in wyvern, but you owe me."
"... Owe you what?"
"A favor. Just a single favor." Anna said. "I'll stay in the ship, so I won't be 'useless', but I'll just fly you there and back. Deal?"

Damien was quiet.
"... I already helped you help your father." Damien said. "Now you can help me help mine."
The two glared at one another.

"... Fine." Anna said. "No favor, then. I'll get Wyvern ready for everyone."

Then she turned around and walked away. Damien sighed, and leaned up against the wall, closing his eyes.
>>
>>23842901
Does closing your eyes actually help/do anything?

I'll go find Jilly to ask her to come along.
>>
>>23842901

"it would be nice if i could get you two to get along better."
>>
>>23842901

We need to do something awesome for Anna, as thanks for letting us use the Wyvern so much.
>>
>>23842901
"How'd you two get so confrontational anyway? Did you introduce yourself with your clairvoyance schtick and she reacted badly to perceived violation of privacy or something?"
>>
"It would be nice if I could get you two to get along better." You say.
"I tried. She just doesn't like me. At least she's not an ice queen anymore, though."
"How'd you two get so confrontational anyway? Did you introduce yourself with your clairvoyance schtick and she reacted badly to perceived violation of privacy or something?"
"She was reading a book, ignoring me, and I said hi. She ignored me further, so I called her by name." Damien said. "I didn't know that she hadn't told me her name at the time, and she freaked."
The two of you start walking - apparently Damien knew where Jilly was.
>>
>>23843008
"At least she's improved a lot."
>>
>>23843008
I've noticed you closing your eyes a few times, does it do anything, since you see via clairvoyance anyway?
>>
>>23843008

"well, a little progress is not bad, right?"

"Jilly, would you like to join us on a mission?"

"we're going to Damien's homeworld to see who would want to give the Demiurg a functioning bubble drive."
>>
>>23843094
ask him this.

>>23843008
put our hand on his shoulder "we make sure he will be ok"
>>
>>23843008
"Yeah, I've noticed she generally takes people looking into her life unbidden pretty badly."
>>
>>23843197
"She likes to keep control of who knows about her past."
>>
"At least she's improved a lot."
"Toward you." Damien said.
"Yeah, I've nodiced she generally takes people looking into her life unbidden pretty badly."
"She seems the sort who has a lot of secrets, which is why I haven't looked." He said. "You're almost the opposite, though." He teased. "You just haven't done anything of note."

"I've noticed you closing your eyes a few times." You say. "Does it do anything, since you see via clairvoyance anyway?"
"Well, yes and no. My eyes don't actually do anything, it's just that the act of closing it is... It's what I subconsciously connect to the process of turning off my clairvoyant vision, when it gets stressful. Which happens sometimes." He said.

The two of you find Jilly eating in the cafeteria, as usual - it seemed she needed more time to eat, as she ate slower and ate more than humans did.
"Jilly, would you like to join us on a mission?"
"Another one?" Jilly asked. "And I can come?! Sure! What is it?"
"We're going to Damien's homeworld to see who would want to give the Demiurg a functioning bubble drive."
"... I could try to help, with telepathy. Pick up whispers about bubble drives."
"You'll be picking up a lot of things if you do that." Damien said, and chuckled. "Thank you for coming, Jilly."
"Not a problem." Jilly responded.
>>
>>23843231
What are you eating today?

Do you think Jilly could eat all of Anna's left over green/brown stuffs?
>>
>>23843231
"You go along, I'll grab some snacks for the journey."

Get the most high-calorie foods we can find
>>
>>23843316
Banana split with chocolate topping?
>>
>>23843231
"Do you have a lot of off-world experience, or is this school the first time you've traveled Jilly?"
>>
"What are you eating today?"
"Titanic protazoa." Jilly said. "It tastes kind of bitter."
"Do you have a lot of off-world experience, or is this school the first time you've traveled, Jilly?"
"I've traveled a lot." Jilly said. "Never spent much time in space, but a lot of time on a lot of worlds." She said.
You make your way into the kitchen and grab as much of those calorie biscuits and shakes as you can, slinging them on your shoulder.
>>
>>23843438
"Well, I'm ready whenever you are."

Tinker with Einstein while we wait. Check him over for wear and damage, and make sure Damien didn't mess with his source.
>>
>>23843438
"You're pretty experienced then, good to know you'll handle the trip well...probably better than me for that matter."
>>
"You're pretty experienced, then. Good to know you'll handle the trip well. Probably better than me, for that matter."
"Heavy worlds usually have more pressure, so you just need to breathe softly, and that should help." Jilly said, and patted you on the head.
"Well, I'm ready whenever you are." You say.
"I think I'm all but ready, too." Damien said. "Just need to make a call real quick, and then we can all meet down at the wyvern."
He nodded, and clapped you on the shoulder before leaving the room, slipping on a headset.
"... He's acting like he's not very troubled." Jilly said, quietly. "I'm worried."
>>
>>23843618
"I think he's very troubled. Did he explain everything to you?"
>>
>>23843618
"He likes to pretend to be stoic and disaffected when it comes to serious stuff, from what I've noticed. I'd almost be surprised if he was running around in panic, though it might be healthier. But we'll get to the bottom of this, and he'll be fine for real."
>>
>>23843618
"I can understand why he would be. People close to his parents might be putting them in danger."
>>
>>23843618
He thinks that it is his father that is dealing with the Demiurg. I'd be worried too.
>>
>>23843618
I am too, he his dad could be in danger or worse
>>
"He likes to pretend to be stoic and disaffected when it comes to serious stuff, from what I've noticed. I'd almost be surprised if he was running around in panic, though it might be healthier." You say. "Did he explain everything to you?"
"He didn't explain anything." Jilly said. "I just know that he asked me to help. So I will."
"He thinks that his father is dealing with the Demiurg, and people close to his parents might be putting them in danger. I'd be worried too."
"Well, we'll figure out what's going on." Jilly said. "And if it's the void queen, we'll stop her. Let's get going."

You and Jilly make your way down the hall to the Wyvern, and as you walk, you examine Einstein, making sure Damien hadn't damaged him. And Einstein actually looked... cleaner, than he did when you lent it to Damien in the first place.

When you get to the hub, you hear something strange. A guitar, being played. It's Anna's guitar, you know that for sure, and you and Jilly fly into the cockpit to find Anna, eyes wide and staring at Damien, as Damien sat back strapped into the copilot chair, playing a simple song.

"That's so pretty!" Jilly said, flashing yellow as she piled herself into the cockpit.
>>
>>23843857
"You're in my spot."
>>
>>23843857
"I didn't know you could play. Or is this another facet of psychometry?"
>>
>>23843857
"Do everyone except me know how to play a guitar? Also, I hope you asked Anna for permission to play or you're probably gonna spark another argument."
>>
>>23843857
I preferred Lil'Summer.

When did you learn?
>>
>>23843857
"Has Max unloaded the force-field thing?"
>>
"Does everyone except me know how to play a guitar?" You ask, weaving around Jilly's tail. "Or is this another facet of psychometry?"
"No psychometry." Damien said. "I actually learned how to play because a girl really liked some band, so I played with the idea of starting one." He said.
"I don't know how to play very well, though."
He handed the guitar to Anna, who took it in hand.
"... You're better than me." She said. Damien just shrugged.

"Has Max unloaded the device?" You ask.
"Not yet." Anna said. "I figured we could take it with us, for safety's sake, at the least."
>>
>>23843951
"Makes sense, although it depends how long its range is."
>>
>>23843951
"Yeah, sounds like a plan. We should really get one hooked up to the station soon though."

"Maybe you'd be willing to teach Anna how to play better, Damien?"
>>
>>23843951
"Alright, I'll send a message to Max that we're taking it, so he doesn't order scientists for something he doesn't have."

do so.

"Are you sure the Wyvern can run it constantly?"
>>
>>23843951
good plan
>>
"Makes sense, although it depetns on how long its range is."
"From the way the log sounded - the second one, I mean." Anna said. "It sounded like the range would increase if we turned it up."
"Are you sure the wyvern can run it constantly?"
"It can, yeah." Anna said. "Wyvern has a massive engine."
"Yeah, sounds like a plan." You say. "We should really get one hooked up to the station soon, though."
"That's a good idea." Jilly said. "You're smart with technology, so maybe you could make more."

"Alright, I'll send a message to Max that we're taking it, so he doesn't order scientists for something he doesn't have."
"Right." Damien said. "That's a good idea."
You grab Einstein and quickly type out a message.

"Alright." Damien said. "Now, who sits where?"
"You can sit in the bed, I guess." Anna said. "Jilly, you'll need to strap yourself into the cargo bay. I can go show you how."
"Okay!" Jilly said, and she and anna left.

Damien sighed, climbing out of his chair. "At least I don't have to go into the cargo bay again." He said.
>>
>>23844186
"If you want to get in her good books, you could offer to teach her how to play guitar more proficiently, you know."
>>
>>23844186
"What's the plan when we get there? Call up your father and explain the situation?"
>>
>>23844186
I can take the bed, it's your mission, after all.
>>
>>23844220
Nah, the co pliot seat is better. Heather can even learn more how to pilot.
>>
"If you want to get into her good books, you could offer to teach her how to play guitar more proficiently, you know."
"Hah, maybe." Damien said. "But when I came in and heard her playing... well... She sounded like she was having fun as is. No reason for me to ruin that by teaching her. She plays to learn it, I think, on her own."
You nod.
"I can take the bed." You say.
He gave you a strange look.
"It's your mission after all."
"Oh!" he said. "Right, yeah, no, it's fine, I'll take the bed."
"What's the plan when we get there? Call up your father and explain the situation?"
He cleared his throat.
"... Not really. I'll figure out the plan on the way."
"Alright." anna said, coming back into the cockpit. "We all ready?"
"Yeah, gimme a sec." Damien said, slinging himself into the bed. You and Anna strap yourselves in."
"Alright." Anna said. "You're paying for the fuel, by the way, Damien."

Damien grumbled- but his grumble stopped when the ship suddenly tore out of docking, making your heart leap up your throat... and you were off.

To Haegoth.

>End of thread!
>>
>>23844319
Time to be the #1 backseat driver of the UPA.
>>
>>23844319
What is Haegoth's main exports?

because I'm 100% down for stealing a bubble drive if it's an industrial world
>>
>>23844663
Haegoth's main export is... bubble drives, surprisingly. they have the high-spec fabrication equipment necessary for the production of bubble drives.
