>Hovering above you was Einstein. You could check his data at any time, you knew: http://pastebin.com/CaAF0yS8

You quite suddenly come to, sitting up, hair disheveled. You had a strong feeling that you had some sort of ... dream, but as you wrack your brain, you can't remember what it was. Summer wasn't asleep - she was lying on her bed with her uplift interface, watching something, with Lil'summer purring on her forehead. You got a sense of weariness from her, as if she hadn't slept last night.

When Einstein chirped, she looked over. Lil'summer meowed.
"Morning." Summer said.
>>
>>23943911
good morning...was I thrashing or talking in my sleep?...
>>
>>23943911
"...morning. What are you watching?"
>>
"... Morning." You say, stretching. "What are you watching?"
"Just some videos on the Extranet." She said. "It's this tridvision series about an uplift ocelot going about his daily life. The chatroom showed it to me. Why didn't I know of this earlier?"
"Was I thrashing or talking in my sleep?"
"A.. little." Summer said, and got to her paws, stretching. "I probably should have slept. Now I'll be useless all day."
>>
>We're sorry to say that the Tip of the Day Database has had a minor issue. It should be fixed shortly.
It's a tragedy! I bet this is what our nightmare was about. Grab the Wyvern, we need to get over there and technopath it better right now.
>>
>>23943996
"Hmmm...I take it the series was interesting then? How long is it?"
>>
>>23943996
what is with you and calling your self useless, you gotta be less hard on your self, girl we going to haft to do something about you attitude.
>>
"Hmmm... I take it the series was interesting then? How long is it?"
"It's only two seasons." She said. "And I'm halfway through the second. Want to grab some breakfast?"

After showering, getting dressed, and making your way into the cafeteria, you can see Damien and Jilly already there.
"Hey, you two." Jilly said, flashing yellow as she waved. "How did you sleep?"
>>
lost your trip
>>
>>23944111
>>23943996
>Good point. These are me.
>>
>>23944111
"I think I had a bad dream but I can't remember it."
>>
>>23944111
"Ugh...could have been better. You two?"
>>
>>23944111
"Pretty decently, I had a dream I can't remember though, so that'll bug me all day."
>>
>>23944111

"i think i had an important dream, but I can't remember what it was." with a frown, then head over to get a proper breakfast.
>>
"Ugh... could have been better." You say. "I think I had a dream, but I can't remember it, so that'll bug me all day."
"That always sucks." Damien said.
"That's because your brain's trying to discard all the junk information." Jilly said, with a smile. You grabbed some stuff for waffles while Summer quickly fell asleep lying on the dais that served as her seat. "What's with summer?"
"Stayed up all night watching TV." Damien said.
"Maybe I could try doing something that would... emulate sleep." Jilly said. "But I don't know enough about it. I need to look up more neurology. And about uplifts."
"Yeah, that's not a good idea to mess with that sort of stuff." Damien said.
>>
>>23944236
"Yeah, you really don't want to experiment with your own brain. Maybe the scientists have an idea for a safer way to practice?"
>>
>>23944236

"If a human being goes without sleep for to long they stop functioning properly."
>>
"Yeah, you really don't want to experiment with your own brain." You say. "Maybe the scientists have a better way to practice?"
"They do, but I feel bad about all the animals that I've accidentally put into seizures." Jilly said, and frowned.

"If a human being goes without sleep for too long, they stop functioning properly."
"That's the same for centaurs and most uplifts, too." Jilly said. "We nagala just get more and more forgetful as time passes, though we don't get... clumsy or anything, like you all tend to. We don't get tired, either!"
"I'm jealous." Damien said, crunching into his sugary goop. "I'm tired all the time."
>>
>>23944376
"That most be really useful."
>>
>>23944376
"Is that something related to your clairvoyance, Damien?"
>>
>>23944376
"Have you ever tried using telepathy on a sleeping person before?"
>>
"Is that something related to your clairvoyance?"
"I see a lot of things I'd rather not." Damien said. "Makes it hard to sleep."

Einstein chirped, signalling that the Tip of the Day database was repaired. You nod, and turn to Jilly again.
"Have you ever tried using telepathy on a sleeping person before?"
"Yeah, I have." Jilly said. "When they're like that, they have two, um, layers. One layer is their brain just... remembering everything they did that day, and the other layer is their brain trying to make sense of what the first layer is doing. Making a story for it."
"I think she meant sending messages in."
"No, I've never sent messages into anybody sleeping. It should be fine, though." Jilly said. She gave Summer's sleeping form a grin. "What should I tell her?"
>>
>>23944481
"Try suggesting to her that she smells catnip again."
>>
>>23944481
"See if you can wake her up"
>>
>>23944481
"See if you can make it so that her dreams are in reverse!"
>>
>>23944481
See if you can make her have a dream inside a dream.
>>
>>23944481
"How does watching girl with clairvoyance make it hard to sleep?"
>>
"See if you can make it so her dreams are in reverse! Or so you can wake her up. Or try suggesting to her that she smells catnip again."
"Oh, I can wake her up fine." Jilly said. "The rest might be kind of hard."
Jilly reached out, and touched Summer, and the uplifted tiger suddenly opened her eyes.
"Mmph?"
"Good morning!" Jilly said.
"Morning." Summer responded, obviously tired. "What's for food?"
"I have toast if you want some." Damien said.
"Okay."

Summer padded over to Damien and started eating the toast he had.
"So, what're your plans for today?" Jilly asked.
"Just doing whatever." Damien said.
"Sleeping." Summer said, lapping up coffee.

"I want to try something new." You say. "I was thinking of speeding up plant growth. On that note, Einstein, download time lapse videos of plants growing, diagrams of plant biologies, etcetra."
"Yes, my mistress. I shall be your assistant in your devious plot, hehehe." Einstein responded.
"You'll want to talk to your counselor about that." Summer said. "They have to have time to figure out how you can practice things."
"I'm going to go to the rec room after class." Jilly said. "Talk with Nissa some more. She's so strange."

>>
>>23944802
What's the point in fucking around with plant growth and shit like that when we're meant to be tech-oriented. Let's just go practice telekinesis and/or the void spheres.
>>
>>23944802

>>
>>23944802
"What've you two been talking about?"
>>
>>23944802

>Nissa? i forgot who that is.
>or is she referring to Omnissiah?

we should be all over the tech but if we're planning to have a bunch of plants to supplement our life support systems on our ship then i guess taking care of those would become easier?
>>
"What've you two been talking about?" You ask. "And when did you meet Omni?"
"She came into the rec room yesterday." Jilly said. "She asked me to set up a time schedule so she could watch shows. She really likes documentaries. She's so... curious about emotions and stuff."

You nod, and finish up your food.
"Well, I'm going to go for counsel." You say.
"See you in class." Damien said, with a wave.

You find Manus in the technopathy room, with Elysium running full-tilt, A giant flashing light on it saying 'quarantined'.
"Ah, hello." He said. "I'm just working on decoding that message you recieved. The one you dreamed of. Coffee?"
He brandished a steaming thermos to you.
>>
>>23944907
Life-support systems on our ship would likely be cells of algae simply photosynthesizing. So nothing to take care of.
>>
>>23944948
"Ah, thank you. How are you getting on with it? What has it yielded so far?"
>>
>>23944948
Accept the thermos, start sipping. "How much progress have you made on it so far? Any idea what the message is about?

I was thinking of looking into using psychic powers to fiddle with organic life, like plants or fungi, as well as eventually animals. Altering their growth and so on. Any suggestions for how to practice this safely?"
>>
>>23944948
"I'm interested in trying some biological psionics. Try to see if I can speed up plant-growth and such. Think it's a decent idea?"
>>
>>23944948
When's the last time we saw Keening?
>>
>>23944948
"Where's Keen...ing?"
>>
You sip at the thermos, and almost burn your tongue on it.
"Be careful, it's hot," He said.
"Ah, thank you," you say. "How much progress have you made on it so far? Any idea what the message is about?"
"A little bit, but all we know is that it stimulates various parts of the brain. In theory, based on your own brain scans when you use technopathy," He said. "It's slow going."
"Where's Keen... ing?"
"James? He's busy working on the Manifestation chamber. Adding high powered microscopes and such," Manus said. "Why, did you come in here to talk to him? It is class soon, anyway."
You shake your head.
"I'm interested in trying some biological psionics. Try to see if I can speed up plant growth and such. Think it's a decent idea?"
Manus sighed, and then chuckled. "Kailyn already had an idea as to how to train something similar to that, using the manifestation chamber. We isolate a cell - plant cell, human, doesn't matter much, and then try to see what you can do to it on an individual basis. I'll talk to her about setting it up for you, and getting some subjects for you to experiment on."
>>
>>23945130
"Excellent, soon I shall craft flesh and shape it just like I do metal. Muahahahaha, my evil plan is coming into fruition."
>>
>>23945130
"cool cool cool that sounds great." (lets go to class)
>>
>>23945130

"thank you."

>>23945141

a bit over the top.
>>
>>23945130
"Great! Can't wait to get started. I think I'll take a turn in the isolation chambers after class, and then work on my ship after that, so you know where to find me."
>>
"Great! can't wait to get started." You say, and shoot your counselor a smile. "I think I'll take a turn in the isolation chambers after class, and then work on my ship after that, so you know where to find me."
"I'll send you a message when we're all ready." Manus said, with a nod.

You make your way to class, and it's only after professor Neva gives you a look do you realize that you inadvertently stole the thermos.

Summer stretched, stepping off of her dais with her work on it, as the buzzer buzzes. "I'm so tired." She said. "I probably shouldn't stay up all night again."

"I'd recommend you avoid it, barring exceptional circumstances. Still, you can catch some sleep now at least."
>>
Hmm. I've been thinking, should Heather start augmenting herself at some point?
>>
>>23945334
Augmetics might be "medical only" so to speak. Might be hard to get them on an elective basis.
I'd rather not get them anyway.
>>
"Sleep? Sleep is for the weak." You say, handing her Manus's thermos. "Here, have coffee."
Summer looked down at the thermos, and back up to you.
"... I can't drink from things like that." She said. "I'm lucky if I can even pick one up if it doesn't have a toothhold for me."
She closed her eyes and manifested a small bowl. You obliged, pouring the last of the coffee into it, where Summer started lapping at it.
"Still, you can catch some sleep now at least."

You gave Manus a smile as everyone else, save Summer, made their way out of the classroom.
"We have things ready for you." Manus said. "Unless you intended on going to the isochambers first."
>>
iso-chambers first, lets try to reach out to cells the same way we do tech. I mean life is basically just a simply machine isn't it?
>>
>>23945381
"Let's try this out first."
>>
>>23945381
"If I went to the isochambers now I'd just be stuck thinking about it so lets start now."
>>
>>23945381

"na lets get to work, also here is your thermos back, thanks."
>>
"If I went to the isolation chambers now, I'd just be stuck thinking about it, so let's start now," You say, and give him his thermos back. "Also, ehre's your thermos back. Thanks."
"Do you mind if I come with?" Summer asked.
"Nah, it's fine," Manus said. "We'll be using your manifestation chamber regardless."

The three of you made your way into a large, domed room, with a strange canister in the very center. A strange tiger-head-shaped headset array sat connected to the canister, and you see Keen pull it off, plugging a normal headset into it. In the corners of the room you can see a the pig from earlier, being examined by sensors and technicians, and some more technicians connecting plating to the canister again.
"We're all set, boss." Keen told Manus.

"Right, okay." Manus said. "Slide in specimen one."
"Yessir."

"Okay." Manus said, and turned to you. "How much do you know from your biology class? Nah, doesn't matter, your clairvoyance should pick up the slack. Slip the goggles on."
You slip on the goggles, and you can plainly see a multicellular organism, as if viewed through a microscope.
"Let's start with something that should be the easiest." Manus said. "Will it to split."

You look forward at the organism, and focus on it, soothing your mind... and willing it to split.

Do it. Reproduce. Mitose, or whatever the verb was.

And that's when you saw it start to wither...
And then you collapse, the strength draining out of your limbs.

Through half-lidded, dim eyes, you lie cold on the ground as you hear an enormous roar, shaking the station.
Gunfire tears through the air, and another roar comes from the station.
"Heather!" Summer calls, and you hear the clink of plate armor.

When you open your eyes again, you're lying on a sunny, grassy field, with green grass, blue skies, and a yellow sun.

Summer is lying there as well, bleeding copiously from her torso, eyes half-lidded.
"Heather..." She said, her voice weak. "Wake up, heather."

"It... exploded." Summer said. "And something... mean came out."

Her half-lidded eyes... closed, and suddenly you were on the station again.

The lights were dim, alarms on, and surrounding you were marines, shooting at ... something on the far end of the room. Exosuits kept firing, pinning back that... something, with pus-covered skin, enormous claws, and an endless gnashing maw, oozing something.

You reach out to summer, and with your mind, you-
Your vision blurs, and a fresh spurt of blood comes from your nose. Instead you simply lift her with your arms as best you can, looking back to that... monster.

The three X-shaped eyes on the right side of it's maw simply... stared at you.
And it stopped roaring for a moment. Stopped moving.
It didn't have a mind to telepath with, but in its eyes you saw-
Your vision blurred again, and blood came from your nose.

You, Summer, and the labcoated woman made your way out of the room, where the technicians were.
"Get the marines out of there!" Manus was calling into his personacom. "We have lockdown procedures in place. Get them out of there!"

Your consciousness started to fade again, but you held on long enough to put a hand on Summer.
She started purring again.

You wake up in a white room, lying on a bed, with constant beeping noises coming from a machine not far from you.

"Heather, you're okay." Damien said. "Everyone else is okay. Nobody was hurt other than Summer, and she'll be fine."
You close your eyes for a moment and open them again... and you saw a medical bay. You're laying on a bed, in 0.9g, and Damien was sitting down in one of the seats, book in hand. You're still on the station, you think...
"You should stay lying down a bit." He said. "You lost some blood, and you used up a lot of power back there."

"You created a, uh... anomalous organism." Damien said. "They were able to stop it, and they have it contained outside of the station. I'll look back so I can tell you exactly what happened."

He closed his eyes, and put a hand on yours.

"You put the goggles on, and focused. Then the container blew open, and something made of tendrils and muscles spilled out. You collapsed. The ... thing took a step toward you, and then... Summer stepped in the way. It clawed her to knock her away... and an entire legion of knights appeared, shoving it back and pinning it down until the marines arrived. Then you, Summer, and the knights vanished, and the marines kept shooting it," He said. "You arrived back, Lynn helped you carry summer out of there, the marines left, and then the entire chamber was ejected into space. They brought you here, hooked you up to the IV, and helped Summer. Right now they've been able to slow that thing enough that they can contain it in a small space platform, rigged to send into the sun after they do their tests on it."

"It didn't hurt though," You say, and give Damien a weak smile.. "I just felt all sleepy and sluggish. And I'll be fine once I eat some more, right?"
"Right." he said, and handed you something.

A sandwich, wrapped up.
"Once you finish this, I have ice cream preprepared," He said.
You take a big bite. It had jam in it. "How long was I out?" You ask.
"Just a few hours." He said.
"I wanna talk to it." You say.
"... You what?" He asked. "You want to talk to the... anomalous organism? We don't even know if it can talk, and I don't think it has a brain."
>>
Damien is crushing SO HARD on our ass.
>>
>>23946040
Ok, great, we can make monsters. Fucking amazing. Still a shit power. There's a reason the scientists want us to specialize, so we can actually be good at something, not just 'ok' at a few.
>>
>>23946233
"I'm sure something can be arranged. You never know until you try!"
>>
>>23946241
Everyone is crushing on us...
>>
"I know it doesn't have a brain. I felt that myself. When I was helping carry summer out of that room though it... Looked at me, and I don't know. I feel responsible.

At the very least, I want to be the one that launches it into the sun. I owe it that much."
>>
>>23946233
"And? We're breaking reality by playing catch during lessons."
>>
>>23946233

>>
>>23946233
"Don't be silly. OF course it has a brain.Or a neural center of some sort otherwise It wouldn't be able to live ."
>>
>>23946261
Also I see specialization as limitting ourselves. Sure there will be nuances we can experiment with. TK has those black holes and Im sure there are applications of tecknomancy that we haven't seen yet. But I wanna see what else is out there.
>>
"I know that it doesn't have a brain," You say. "I felt that myself. When I was helping carry summer out of that room... it Looked at me. And I don't know, I feel responsible. That thing is my responsibility."

Then you take another huge bite of the sandwich.

"... I'll talk to, I don't know, Max." He said. "Then we'll see if we can have you talk to it before they start doing biopsies. But first you need to eat more."
>>
>>23946367
We don't even know how good at surviving it is. Maybe it would just begin eating the sun if it was thown into it.
>>
>>23946367
"Got anything more substantial? Man I could go for a steak right now."
>>
>>23946437
No known element can withstand thermonuclear fusion. This is doubly true for carbon based life forms.
>>
>>23946367
"Thanks. Steak? Pizza? Curry?"
>>
probably going to be high energy shakes.
>>
>>23946458
No known being can create energy or matter from nothing either. Psionics and that which they create do not have to follow the laws of physics, why would this weird anomalous lifeform, that apparently grew within moments and withstood continuous gunfire need to be killed by something simple like heat?
>>
"Got anything more substantial?" You ask. "Man, I could go for a steak right now."
"There's this for now," He said, and handed you a long bit made of bread and chocolate, with tuna on the inside, and a shake. "Sarvesh made it for you. I'll go grab something. You should be able to walk about now, if you hang onto that," He said, nodding to a bar that went along the wall of the room. "And Summer should be waking up in a little bit. Take care, Heather."

Damien made his way out of the room, and then you were alone with Einstein. You could still probably call someone, or ask for them... or maybe even just try and get some rest... or go meet Summer like Damien recommended.
>>
>>23946350
So you'd rather be shit at everything than be good at one thing.
>>
>>23946503
Well, time to find out if bread+meat+chocolate is a winning combo, though it's fish this time.

Let's see Summer.
>>
Eat, then go to Summer. She stepped into the face of danger for us.

I wouldn't call slinging around blackholes shit. Not to mention our super strong TK and technopathy

>>

>>
>>23946503
Go see Summer.
After a while call/go see Anna
>>
>>23946492
"Something simple like heat". Obviously you mean the "thousands of nuclear explosions happening every second in the most complex furnaces known". The only way to more certain of the creatures destruction would be tossing it into a black hole or a quasar.
>>
I'd rather specialize consciously in technopathy than accidentally specialize in something else when we roll really well for it.
>>
I wonder if the 88 and 96 gave us control over this thing while the 1 had it nearly kill us and Summer. That would make sense.

>>23946566
I don't think that will happen. Both Jilly's and Damien's specialization apparently took a while. The both used them since childhood.
>>
>>23946565
Stars aren't complex
>>
>>23946565
Yes, that is exactly what I mean. Did you know we can create pocket black holes? I'm sure they would be better if you want to annihilate something.
>>
take lots of hydrogen, place it in the same vincinity. Let stew for a couple ages. Tada have a star.
>>
>>23946602
We've studdied the sun since the 17th century and know just about jack and shit about it.
>>
>>23946587
They also accidentally specialized due to overusing one particular power, which would suck if we ended up accidentally specialized in something cliche, like TK
>>
You chew on the long stick carefully. It tasted like bitter chocolate, for the most part, but it was rather interesting to eat. Once strength returns to your limbs, you take the handhold, and leaning on it, make your way into the next room of the medbay.

Summer was lying on her side, long bandages on her side. You sit there for a moment, listening to her purr, until her eyes cracked open.

"G'morning, heather." She said, quietly. You check the time - it was only six PM.
>>
>>23946636
... go read. seriously.
>>
>>23946619
Except you're wrong. We create gravity wells, but a true black hole annihilates matter at the anatomical level. There would be no strange crystals
>>
>>23946636
A ball of plasma (hydrogen), in a constant state of thermonuclear fusion (hydrogen -> helium)
>>
>>23946660
Now, we don't know that.
Maybe that's what the Quantum Computer inside [Dave's love interest's name here] is from; core of a 'shut down' black hole
>>
>>23946636
Of course there is a lot of information we do not currently know about them. This doesn't make them any better at disposing of an organism. Unless you want to say, lightning is better at destroying things because we don't know everything about it.
>>
>>23946642
"Hey."
Pet her head.
>>

The sun is literally hot enough to break down the bonds between the carbon molecules in that thing's body and has a ridiculously high gravity. To withstand the heat, it'd have to be an absurdly powerful pyrokinetic psion. To withstand the gravity, it'd have to be absurdly powerful at telekinesis. It has shown no ability to be a psion whatsoever.
>>
>>23946712
Agreed. Let's just say that an anomalous create made by psionics most likely has properties we do not know. These may or may not include stuff breaking the laws of physics.
>>23946742
It has not shown any ability at all. We have not even seen it. There is no reason to believe anything other than a) It is resilient against gunfire and low pressure b) It has at least some rudimentary intelligence.
>>
"Hey." You say, and start scratching her head.
"Hey. Are you okay?" She asked, and you respond by pulling her into a hug.
"I'm sorry!" You say, hugging her tight.
"What? Don't be stupid." Summer said, and put her paw on your face, shushing you. "No need to be sorry."
"You nearly died and I couldn't do anything!" You cry, and hug her tighter. She just shushed you again.
"I'm pretty resiliant." She said, still purring. "I'll be fine, and I don't think any bones are broken, so I'll be better in days."
Then she giggled.
"At least now I have an excuse to watch TV all day and sleep," She said. "Which was my devious plan the entire time."

"No you won't." She said. "I'm just going to make you get me lots of things when we all go to Heaven's Jewel," She said. "Lots of things. Free ice cream. And ear scratches."

"It's kind of ticklish, kind of soothing." she said, laying her head down, continuing to purr. "Winter used to do it whenever she felt sad about something. She'd just... ask for hugs and then scratch my ears, or cry into my fur."

"I'd imagine your fur is good for that." You say, and Summer nodded.
"What kind of things did she cry about?"
"When mom went out and she felt alone, or after coming home from school and she missed me, or... there were a lot of reasons. We were kids. I was tinier back then," She said, and took a deep breath. "I am feeling a lot better now, though. They keep giving me those shakes to drink. You should have some too."

Einstein pinged - Sarvesh was looking for you, apparently.

Send Sarvesh a message saying we stumbled over to Summer's room, and we'll see him after we're done here.

"May I?" Take a shake.

"You're really good at hugs. And not just because you're a fluffy tiger, you have a way of making people feel safe."
"Tell me, do you manifest people to practice on?" In jest.
>>
You send Sarvesh a message, thanking him for the chocolate tuna breadstick, before sitting down next to Summer's bed, taking a shake.
"You're really good at hugs," You say. "And not just because you're a fluffy tiger. You have a way of making people feel safe."
"I'm bad at keeping them safe." Summer said.
You're not sure how, but her words carried a strange sort of... weight. Something wordless that your telepathy translated. Summer's ear twitched.

"you saved me"

But then, she doesn't need to know that at the moment.
>>
You grab both sides of her head.
"You kept me safe, just then! How can you just discount that?!" You say.

You locked eyes with her.
"If I wasn't so bad, I'd be perfectly intact." Summer said, and then licked your nose and giggled.
She forcefully turned away, laying her head down on her pillow.
"The worst part of being injured on the side like this is that I can't roll over," She said. "Well, second worst. The normal worst is that I'll have a bald line until my fur grows back."

Scars are cool. You've seen Anna's scars when we were showing off, they were cool, don't you think?
>>
"Good thing chicks dig scars. And boys, I think?"
"Except fur hides scars." Summer said. "This won't be my first scar, you know." She said.
"Do you want to talk a bit? Just... about something not important? I could really do with getting my mind off things right now."
"We could talk about boys." She said, and giggled. "Or maybe we could just watch TV. They rigged up a tridvision in here for me."

She nosed her interface, and the two panels of the TV slid out, extending into the tridvision. With Summer's head in your lap, scratching her ears, the two of you watched Bagheera In The Neighborhood.

Some time later, Summer was asleep, still purring, and someone knocked on the door. Damien stuck his head in.
"... They're ready if you wanted to meet the anomalous organism." He said, his voice quiet. "They have the plasma flush set up and ready, even, in case it attacks again. It's been rather dormant for the past half hour, though it freaked out when I looked at it."
>>
>>23947535
When you looked at it or when you Looked at it?

Extract ourselves from Summer, and head over. Use Damien for support so we can get there in good time..

"When you looked at it, or when you Looked at it?"
"Same thing." He said. "He- it, I mean- didn't react when I looked at it through the monitor."
"Can you come with me when I talk to it, Damien? I'd rather... not be alone," You say.
"Yeah, I can." He said, and held out his elbow. You take it, leaning on him, and the two of you made your way toward the hub.

"Just make sure they don't activate it before I say so. It wouldn't be nice if I was torched for sneezing."
"Right, I'll tell them," He said, as the two of you strapped yourselves down in the shuttle.

"Think it's sensitive to psionics if it could sense your gaze?" You ask.
"Maybe," He said. "I wouldn't count it impossible."
The shuttle shuddered, and soon enough, you were on the discarded parts of the station, welded together to make the Anomalous Organism Research Facility.
"Heather. I hear you're here to meet our friend." Manus said, standing next to a very, very large canister, with what looked like an enormous plasma engine on top - there to burn the creature alive, most likely. "How are you feeling?"
>>
>>23947716

>>
>>23947759
Seconding.
>>
"Horrible. But better than when I woke up," You say.
"... Alright." He siad with a nod. "Here, you can see it through the camera," He said, and motioned a hand to a small screen. In it, you saw a large bulky humanoid creature, skin made of tendrils, acid oozing from the maw that served as its head. It had three X-pupiled eyes on one side of the maw, and six or seven miniscule eyes on the other. It simply stood there, swaying side to side for a moment-
before it looked up toward the camera at you. Manus involuntarily took a step back.
"... Are you ready to pull the shutters back so you can see him through the glass?" Manus asked.

Damien squeezed your shoulder.
>>
>>23947854
"Do it."
>>
>>23947854
"...Yes."
>>
hmm can we project our voice through the glass using TK? Or is that too specialized?

>>23947854
Ok, be ready to slam it shut if it gets aggressive, but only if it actually is.
>>
>>23947854
Yup open the shutters
>>
"... Yes." You say.

Manus hit the button, and Damien closed his eyes.

The shutters on the big canister slid aside, and the glass revealed the creature, staring directly at you. It's hands and legs were shackled in place, but it didn't seem to care, the tendrils melting out of the shackles as it brought one hand up to its chest.
It knelt toward you... and then bellowed, loudly, banging on the glass. It made a loud gong noise, and brought back it's hand, slamming it forward again.
"There are no claws yet, which is strange." Manus said. "It won't be able to break through the glass, though. It has polycarbon fibers holding it in place.

The glass cracked slightly the next time the creature slammed a hand into the glass. It bellowed again, maw pressed up against the glass, staring down at you.
>>
>>23947932
"I'm sorry that I made you what you are, this is my fault. It'll all be over soon enough, don't fight it, it'll just make it worse."

Your question infurated it. It snarled, loudly, the seeping maw roaring open before it slammed it's head into the glass. The entire thing cracked more, and started to buckle.
"It'll be okay." Manus said. "Don't worry, the glass will hold."
"... I'm not sure it will." Damien said.

It paused.

Then tilted its head.

"No!" Damien roared.
And then it slammed it's hand against the glass one more time. The entire pane came shooting out, and you winced, about to fire a black hole at it...

And then the monster tore out of the canister... and ran from the marines. Ran from you, ran from Damien, past Manus... and toward the airlock.

Before you could react, and before the marines could draw a bead on it, it tore the airlock open, charged in as the airlock closed itself, and then...
Spaced itself, tearing open the second airlock.
