The encroaching fog seems to lighten and fade as Assassin moves up next to Tomoko. Now that you’re not in the midst of being attacked, you take a moment to look over the enemy Servant more closely. She’s a young looking girl, looking to be in her mid to late teens. Rather tall, for a girl her age, as well. She looks somewhat malnourished, and wears a burlap cloak over what you think is black leather. Her cold blue eyes are glaring at you from under silver bangs, and it gives you the chills. “So, Mr. Master, you say you come in peace. What is it that you want with Oneechan and I?” Tomoko asks.

“I came to propose an alliance. Or at the very least, a non aggression pact.” You tell her. She seems to nod slightly in thought.

“Alright. Shall we hash out the details somewhere more comfortable, such as my room?” Tomoko asked.

[]Agree, this is a sign of trust. A beginning to your alliance.

We came to her, it would be rude to just up and demand she leave the relative safety of her room. She already stopped Assassin from going full murder on us once, so I doubt she's going to immediately pull a 180 and try to kill us.

>And once you’re negotiating, what do you want out of this Alliance?
For now, non-aggression and information sharing. Caster's summoning abilities give us a relatively risk-free method of information gathering (although we shouldn't give specifics on that, for obvious reasons), but we can't do so effectively if we're constantly looking over our shoulder worrying about Assassin.
>>
>>23949617
I agree with this. I trust the Master, but not her servant. Asking her to leave would just make assassin (even more) paranoid, and we don't want that.

This Assasin's pretty unpredictable and our Servant is the Devil in cat form.

I think a simple truce and intel sharing would suffice for now.

Fucking hell, I almost feel sorry for Tomoko. Definitely got one of the craziest servants out there, and I don't mean that in a good way.

And I'm new but, Kyubey is our servant! Holy fucking hell this is not going to end well for anybody, us most definitely included included. The only way this could be worse is if we summoned Lucifer himself! But hey, at least we got what amounts to a one shot "Army of the King" or Fate/Zero's "Zabaniya" which will instafuck 1 enemy. He's not a bad servant really, plus it ain't like he can get killed before we do. He has many bodies, after all.

Very smart (I hope), be nice. Don't agitate the crazy-ass Murder McBitchtits servant.

"Ah, certainly. Please, lead the way." You say, gesture for her to go ahead. She gives you a disarming smile and leads the way into her dorm casually. Assassin hangs back to keep an eye on you and Saber keeps her eye on Assassin. You find yourself mildly surprised when you enter her room and its filled with small figures of anime characters and a large computer dominating her desk, several of its guts currently spilled out on the table. You can feel the wispy sense of Assassin permeating this room, indicating that this is her point of summoning. "So, what are we looking at here? Full on mutual cooperation, or just little sharing?" Tomoko asked as she sat down at a small table on the floor. You sit across from her with Saber and Assassin taking up the other two sides.

"I was hoping we could have a non aggression pact and information sharing." You offer.

"Alright. We can do that. Oneechan, can you get some tea, please?" Tomoko asks. Assassin hesitates before standing and beginning to prepare some tea in the small attached kitchenette. "To begin with, I only really have one piece of information I can give you right now. Oneechan has detected at least one other Servant on campus. Someone else with stealth abilities roaming around since about two weeks ago." Tomoko tells you as Assassin serves you and Tomoko tea before offering some to Saber as well. Saber sips it lightly before giving you a reassuring look and you drink yours as well. Its a bit bitter, but good.

Good, she's an otaku (like most of us players), meaning she thinks Sayaka is our servant. Let's keep it that way for as long as we can. If she sees who our boy really is she'll know who he is in an instant and will promptly attempt to kill us (One can never trust the devil, even if he is a cute cat-like being that also happens to be a servant after all).

Not sure as to what is the best course of action. If we excuse ourselves or head home we can grill Kyubey for his thoughts, but going on patrol would be a further signaling of trust. Hopefully her darkest suspicions about us are not enough to overpower reason on this. War's just started, having an ally always helps, even if it is the face of all things evil.

See's into anime, she'll know who/what Caster is given how popular that show was. It's bad all around if she sees him. He'll kill anyone who tries to fuck with his plans. Or he might offer to make a contract with her...

Why, why is my brain going in so many directions, all of them Lovecraft levels of horrifying?
>>
>>23950550
Remember Kyubee said he was from another Timeline.
>>
>>23950597
Yes, but that doesn't mean his show wasn't made here. She's big into anime, and that show was quite popular here. No reason to assume it bombed, and even if it did, she'd remember a thread on /a/ talking about how shit it was and caster looking very familiar. A quick net search later and we're back in the same boat. The boat where our servant is the devil incarnate. I fear for our safety if that happens.
>>
>>23950550

While Coobie is certainly "evil", he isn't antagonistic about it. He just does what he needs to do and happens to not subscribe to any human notion of morality. Provided we keep stringing him along with the carrot that is the Grail, he shouldn't have any reason to go full Lovecraft on us.

He does in a sense. "Preventing the heat death of the universe". Any means towards that end will, and I do mean WILL, be taken without a second thought. That one commandment *is* his morality. Difficult for most people to grasp or understand, but I get it.

You are right that he isn't "actively" malicious though. You only get fucked if you get between him and the objective I stated above. I do hope you're right about him wanting the grail though. His wish is already pre-determined essentially, he'll use it to stave off the heat death of the universe. No worries about our servant bringing about hell on Earth with it.

"Ah, Tomoko. Would you like to come on patrol with me?" You ask as the conversation winds down. She seems to consider it for a moment before Assassin speaks up.

"Not yet. We're only on a non aggression and information sharing treaty. We don't have to risk our necks yet." Assassin interjects. Tomoko seems to pause and consider her servants words.

"Oneechan is right. Its to risky right now. As much as I think you're a decent guy. Instead, we'll work on hunting down the other Master and Servant on campus!" Tomoko reassures you.

"Very well. I wish you luck." You tell her. With a quick wave and a nervous glance at Assassin, you and Saber leave. Shortly after leaving campus Caster joins up with you.

~Master. I trust all went well?~ He asks as he leaps up onto your shoulder.

"Yes. We're currently ceasing hostilities with Tomoko and her Assassin and we're sharing information." You inform him.

~Seems wise for now. If she proves trustworthy, we can use her later.~ He agrees.

"Retreat. We need information, and she can't give us that if she's dead." You tell him, slamming on the gas, "If she's having too many problems we'll send Saber in, but I don't think we want to tip our hand this early."

~She's on her way out now. She says she'll be running for the side entrance, and she's trying to lose her enemy, but be ready to run when she makes it there.~ Caster warns you as you pull up to the building. Saber throws the door open as Assassin jumps in while someone in brown and yellow jumps out of the shadows at her. You slam on the gas and leave, and the brown figure disappears before you get a good look at them.

"Monster. They were class Monster." Assassin gasped out as you quickly make your way back home. You take a long and circuitous route, just in case you're followed, but you arrive unmolested. Assassin is quivering like a leaf, and Saber is reassuring her. You help the two out of the car while Caster stands atop the roof and tries to feel out for any signs of enemy Servants. As you make your way into your ratty apartment, you help Saber sit Assassin on the couch. After a little while, she finally calms down enough to speak.

"They were fast, and they hit hard which I kind of expected. What I d-didn't expect was their stealth skills. I never got a good solid look at them because they seemed to dip and dive into shadows and cracks. And the traps. There were traps everywhere. I don't know how they were set up so quickly..." Assassin murmurs. From what little contact you made with your recording trap, she's right. Something brown and yellow tore through her and seemed to herd her into waiting traps that hadn't been there the other day. Caster is working hard at reinforcing your defenses while listening to Assassin's explanations. As you retreat to the kitchen to make Assassin some hot chocolate he jumps up onto the counter.

Caster nods his head in agreement.

~Yes, we were very fortunate to have events turn out in our favor. I do believe we could have done same damage had I been allowed to support Assassin, but I can now conclude that I doubt we would have received a victory, let alone a decisive one, and we would have tipped our own hand. Yes, this is a favorable outcome.~ Caster agreed. You pick up Assassin's drink and Caster follows you back to your room.

"Assassin, I want you to know that you did a good job tonight. You were up against something big and nasty and got out with information. We know that it is fast and sneaky, we know it's brown and yellow, and we can surmise that its legend has much to do with traps. And even better, all they know is that you're an Assassin. "I can't blame you for freaking out a little. But still, thank you." You tell her. You and Caster finish putting some finishing touches on the defenses to the apartment before you go to bed. You let Saber and Assassin have your bed while you take the couch for the night. At about midnight you wake up to find Tomoko's Assassin standing over you, Caster asleep on your stomach.

"Move, and I'll murder you." She whispers softly. You freeze for a moment, hoping Caster wakes up. "I'm just here to warn you, since Tomoko seems to like you. Don't back stab her. Don't hurt her. And be nice. Do that, and we're hunky dory, okay?" Assassin says. Caster seems to stir on your stomach and Assassin flashes her knives at you as she seems to leap away back into the shadows. Welp, saw this coming. Murder McBitchtits is full on yandere loyal to Tomoko. Before we know it she'll be making us go on dates with her, or else we get le knife! And we can't tell her about it, because that would make her sad and Assassin wants her to be happy.

Sleep is good, don't want to be tired and assassin is essentially watching over us with her fucking A+ presence concealment.

>>
>>23952550
Addendum to my post here, we should actually sleep in the same bed as our Magical Girls not just because the bed is softer, it means that they're that much closer to us for when Assassin or Monster break into our house through the wards and try to stab us in the eyeballs. I want our magical girl hit squad as close as possible for that.
>>
>>23952556

I support this action. Defence must be adjusted.
>>
>>23952553
I agree. It's best to tell no one about this incident.
>>
>>23952597
Ok good, thought you were going for a harem. That makes sense, though really they should get the bed and we get a sleeping bag. Don't want our body to get in the way of them drawing their weapons.
>>
>>23952631
Bunks?
>>
>>23952553
Pretty much this. Kyubey doesn't need to know, and we weren't planning on backstabbing tomoko, we're planning on either taking her seals or front-stabbing her. so Assassin need not worry about that, being nice.... eh, we'll try, but being metal mind kinda makes me think we're less emotional and more logical.
>>
>>23952597
>>23952631
Why not just sleep with Coobie?

Basically same result, without all the creepy overtones. I say cuddle with our fuzzy little marshmallow cat monster.
>>
>>23952666
Oh you would want us to cuddle with you wouldn't you Satan.
>>
>>23952666

We need to stroke him menacingly, like Blofeld.
>>
>>23952631
I don't care that much about the harem stuff, I just want our murder machines as close as possible, tactical cuddling and all that.

I don't have any objections to fucking them, it really won't accomplish much, but as long as it doesn't get in the way I'm okay with it.

>>23952666
Because Coobie has the combat stats of a mildly angered potato, his magic is good, but he's not the fighty type, that's what the Magical Girls are. And we can sleep with him as well.
>>
>>23952512
Get up, make food.

Work on our defenses today at some point. After all, Monster is stealthy, so we can't let our guard down just because Assassin isn't a threat. Yeah, Assassin, no threat there, nothing to worry about at all. I'm all fine here now Caster, how are you?
>>
>>23952666
>Implying Coobie isn't in that room too.
He's gotta have some offensive capabilities beyond summoning megucas to fight for him. So he's in the room too. Maybe he has a desperation attack where he converts a girl into a Witch, freeing him from having to supply them with mana at the cost of making them totally uncontrolable, attacking everyone in sight. Do that to one of our girls as we clear the fuck out, hoping it picks our enemy as its favored target.

The potential for cruelty, it is overwhelming when QB is around.
>>
>>23952553
I also agree. Hard to sleep after that. Though I swear it will come back to bite us later. If we keep going without a full night's sleep he might start calling for rolls, and that's never a good thing.

Also, if QB heard about this (if he hasn't already, bastard seems to know most everything that goes on in the world), he might just decide to off Tomoko on his own. He's got access to thousands of servants, one of them's gotta be perfect for the job and they only need to be around for so long...
>>
With a slight groan you get up and Caster rolls off of your stomach and onto the vacated couch before sitting up and blinking at you. ~You're up earlier than anticipated, Master.~ He remarks as you make your way to the kitchen.

"Just can't get back to sleep." You reassure him. You rummage around in your cupboards and fridge, pulling out an iron frying pan and some bacon and eggs. "I think we ought to work a bit more on reinforcing your defenses." You tell him.

~Well, it certainly won't hurt, but I've been trying to maintain a low profile so we aren't easily noticed. I can greatly strengthen our defenses, but it will make it obvious to Servants that a Magus lives here.~ Caster warns you. So, you would be sacrificing stealth for strength. It's a difficult choice, but...

[X]Strength. Go big or go home.

But see about in the next couple days setting up noticeable wards in other locations as well to obscure our location and putting traps in those places. Instead of trying to hide through not being noticed and open ourself to the possibility of having Assassin and Monster sneak in or a big one just bash through we hide ourself by being one point of light among many.
>>
>>23952802
>[]Stealth. Keep the defenses as low key as possible

As much as it terrifies me, this might be the best approach.

We can turtle up as much as we want, but if someone with magic resistance like a Saber decides to wreck our shit, all the fancy pants magic in the world probably won't stop them.

I would suggest that we post a night watcher or two, since Monster has stealth capabilities.

Stealth is the best option. If it comes to a last stand, we always have that whole, "thousands of magical girls" thing on our side.
>>
>>23952802
>[X]Stealth. Keep the defenses as low key as possible

We possess the near-unique capability to summon cannon fodder that can slow Servants at will, and Caster can boost them so they won't suck if necessary. This lends itself to a strategy of mobility, rather than fortification, since we can just pull distractions out of thin air when we need to retreat, and attack on multiple fronts when on offense. Painting a big WIZARD AM HERE sign on our lair would just make it easy for everyone to keep tabs on us.
>>
>>23952965
Like I said, our ultimate trump card is something between "Delusional Illusion" and "Army of the King". We can only do it once or twice, but we DO have an "I win" button as implied by its "EX" rank. I just pray nobody summoned Gilgamesh...

>>23953025
Or kill us. It'd be like pulling what Zero's Lancer did. "Hey everybody! I'm right here, fight me! If you dare!" Somebody will, likely the guy who has "monster" (if it's Shiki, she just kills the defenses) or "berserker", y'know, the servants that can fuck up a caster pretty damn good.

"I think it would be best if we remained low on the radar. Maybe up our defenses with some kind of a lookout." You muse.

~Hm, yes, I believe I could do something to that affect. Right now, I'm mildly uncomfortable sustaining the two Servants, but if you're willing to lend me your Mana Generators, I might be able to set up an array to keep a Servant supplied with enough prana for it to have a net gain of zero instead of a drain.~ Caster suggests.

"That would be excellent." You remark as Assassin and Saber enter the room sleepily. You quietly serve them breakfast and put a small plate down for Caster as well. So, while Caster is working on your defenses you'll

Also, I must ask. Where is this war taking place? if it's 'Murrica we need guns, lots of them. Right. The. Fuck. NOW!

Grabbing a Rifle or a Shotty is hilariously easy as they don't even need background checks if you're over 21. Go to gun store, present cash, get weapons. Pistols? A mere gun show away to pull the same shit. If you got the funds, you can get pretty well armed fast and we ought to ASAP if we can. Plus that guy putting out the 3D printed AR lower... That other shit can be bought easily, the lower's the only part that's regulated. And there are guides on the net to make "Chechnyan firecrackers" (read: homemade, inaccurate but effective SMGs) easily available to the tech savvy magus like ourselves. All else fails, I suggest we visit our local hardware store with said plans in hand.

You rush things, Kirei. Assassin does not wish to hurt us. It would be better not to pry, and build a trust in our allies than take our chances and end up with no trust at all. We can discuss this matter at a later time, when we have a secure relationship with the two.
>>
>>23953933
You're a poor starving college student, so your budget is iffy at best. Most of your money is dumped into the mystic codes you've built. You might be able to scrape enough together for a cheap gun, but it would make your expenses a little tight, especially with extra mouths to feed.
>>
>>23954031
So "Chechnyan Firecracker" route it is then. We do have access to power tools right? I'd assume we do, given MC's obsessions. I could post a PDF on how to make a "Grease Gun" from plumbing parts and a bit of spring, but I don't want to end up on more "Watch Lists" than I'm already on. Also, don't wanna get banned by the based mods. Just rest assured, its out there, and easily accessible if you know where to look. And MC would if he was "well prepared" like you said he was...
>>
>>23953803
>[x] Inform Tomoko about Monster

Seems like an important fact. The basis of this alliance was information sharing, and knowing about the stealthy murder monster running around might be highly relevant to her survival.

>>23953933
We aren't going to be able to go full Kerry at the drop of a hat. Standard guns don't work on prepared mages, (remember how much good his little machine gun did against Kayneth?) and we sure as shit don't have time to prepare Origin Shot, nor do we have any guarantee it would work for us in the first place. Also, we aren't a hardened mercenary mage-killer with years of experience at killing shit with bullets.
Not saying a pistol would be a BAD idea necessarily, just don't expect to be murdering wizards using our 2nd Amendment Rights any time soon.
>>
>>23954031
Then just have one of your Servants steal some then. In addition to a pistol, I'd recommend something you can snipe with. You can't hurt Servants with a gun, but maybe, you could possible pop a master if you ever get the chance.
>>
>>23954073

Would it be so hard to have an Assassin steal us an AR15 or something?
>>
>>23954182
It's possible, yes. How hard it is to succeed depends on hwere you're stealing from.
>>
>>23954099
M1A1 is pretty easy to find, if you got like 1,600 US dollars lying around for the gun and a half-decent scope (thank god MC can use tech, internet research is a fucking GODSEND on these matters for the uninitiated). Reach out and touch someone from up to around 600 meters if you're good. And .306 ammo can punch through a concrete block from a good distance, so if all he's got is his reinforced clothing? Fuck him, you're still just one good roll away from the vitals. And that 20 round standard magazine sure is sexy...

Guns can't do shit against servants, might delay them a bit, but will never kill them. But against an opposing master? They'll never see it coming, magus elitist idiots. Kerry killed so many of them with ease for damn good reason. They expected a spell, he brought bullets. Hard to outsmart them it seems...

It's gotta be in there for a month before they can put it on the floor. Lots of stuff gets put in there, no surprise that a few things go missing and 24/7 security is far too expensive for them to maintain. We can do this. We, who seek to fuse the mundane with the magic, will show them the true power of our dream!

"Assassin, do you think you can do a little robbery for me?" You ask, a small idea beginning to form in your head.

"No, just a small pawn shop or something." You assure her.

"Ok. What do I need to get?" She asked.

"Guns. At least one or two, but no more than three or four." You tell her.

"Ok, I can definately do that. Ammo, too?" She asked. You nod. She quickly finishes her breakfast and jumps up to to leave, leaving you with Saber and Caster. Caster is finishing his meal and wandering around your house inspecting the various wards and your mana generators. After breakfast Saber helps you clean up and put the dishes away. An hour later Assassin seems to step out of the shadows of your living room, weapons and boxes of ammo in her arms.

"Master, I have managed to aquire an M1911, an AK-47 and an AR15." She informed you, laying the firearms out in front of you along with the boxes of ammo.

"Thank you, Assassin." You tell her, picking the pistol and sending a pulse of magic into the weapon and analyzing how it works and its condition. You quickly do the same with the next two weapons and their overall condition is fairly serviceable, although of the three the AK is in the best condition and the AR is in the worst. "Master Nicolas. For what reason are you coming to see Tomoko?" She demanded.

"Ah, I'm here to share some information on an enemy Servant that I aquired." I tell her, caught a little off guard by her appearance.

"Very well. If you would follow me." She said, leading you further onto campus and into Tomoko's dorms, carefully avoiding the sight of the other female dorm residents. She leads you into Tomoko's room and offers you a seat at the table, and then calls out for Saber as well. Your pseudo servant takes her seat next to you and Jack begins to make some tea. We know who Assassin is, or at least we think we do. But she doesn't know that and she'd consider it weird if we weren't trying to find out. So gently ask some questions, make small talk, try to lead the conversation to life experiences, her past, anything like that. We won't get anything, but the point is for her to think we're trying to get something.

She was fairly explicit in that she wouldn't fuck with us provided we didn't mess with her Master. Lets wait for Tomoko, simply because I don't want to exchange more words with this crazy bitch than we have to, but we don't have reason to suspect her at the moment.

Also, Poison doesn't seem like her MO. She seems more like the "paint a portrait with your guts after disemboweling you" type of gal.
>>
>>23955260
I've already voted, this isn't a vote.

I doubt she'll actually tell us anything, but making the attempt to talk about her life, her past, anything like that, just subtly pushing the conversation towards there will make us look like a Master fishing for clues instead of a Master who already knows. She'll notice and even if she tells us to stop fishing or something like that she'll just be playing into our hands by thinking we have no idea who she is.

Yes, we know who she is and that she probably won't poison us, but she doesn't know that we know that. If we didn't know who she was we wouldn't drink the tea, we ought to act in all ways as if her identity is an enigma we are attempting to unravel.

Again, I've already voted and advocated for small talk, trying to make her think we have no idea who she is and are trying to find out who she is by asking questions.

A point of note: we (the character) probably don't actually know Assassin's identity. Just because we (the players) recognize her, doesn't mean we have that knowledge in-game.

Now that will most likely be a purely academic distinction, since we DO know she is a fucking crazy chick who likes to murder people with knives, which is pretty much all the information about her that's relevant to us at the moment.
>>
"I'll wait until Tomoko's here to tell you both at the same time. In the meantime, why don't you tell me a little about yourself?" You ask her.

"All you need to knows is that Tomoko means everything to me. If you try and cause problems, I will fix them. Through whatever means necessary. But if you play nice, well then I have no reason to hurt you. Or your Servants. I'll even admit that you're a seemingly decent guy. But you're unimportant compared to Tomoko." Assassinn warned you. Saber tensed up, glaring at Assassin, who makes a dismissive motion to Saber. "And don't get all worked up, Saber. I won't do anything if you guys behave. I value Tomoko's happiness too much to offhandedly kill you two for a risk you might be. But if you ever remove that doubt..." She threatened.

"We understand. So,, then, if you won't chat about yourself, perhaps you would chat about your Master?" You ask. Assassin merely gives you a level gaze.

"You don't trust me enough to drink my tea. Why should I trsut you with anything about my Master or myself?" She asked. You occasionally try and start conversation up again, but Assassin is fairly tight lipped, making it difficult at best. It's not too much longer before Tomoko finally shows up.

"Ah, Nicolas! Its good to see that you're getting along with Oneechan!" She exclaims, noticing the still full teacup in front of you.

I try to run these at about 5 or 5:30 Pacific time and until i feel too tired to continue. Actually, let me see about getting a twitter set up for this, or something else if you guys have a better idea for a way to get these messages out to you

Awww, she's pouting because we don't trust FUCKING ASSASSIN enough to drink her tea. That would be cute if it wasn't so terrifying.

What a coincidence. There is another quest rght now with Sayaka, but she's allied with, I shit you not, Chuck Norris and GI Joe. Fighting Terran Marines and Grammaton Clerics.

Ok, so since we're in post-thread cooldown mode, I've got a suggestion for next time.

When we're getting ready to leave after this little meetup, apologize to Assassin about the whole tea thing.
We feel bad about it, but to be fair she is Assassin and we've known her for maybe 18 hours. If it HAD been poisoned, we would have won some kind of award for "most embarrassing finish in a Grail War ever".

I like the way you think sir, excellent point! Seconding your response. She *is* assassin after all and we hardly know her, so naturally we won't drink the tea because we're not stupid. But we will from now on because she's cleared the air a bit.
