So I had an idea for a really stupid game last night when trying to get to sleep (the best time for inspiration, when everything seems genius).

Basically, Yuru Yuri: the PVP RPG

Everyone plays a bunch of Japanese middle/high school girls (read: lesbians) in a pointless afterschool club, and at the start everyone is given (in secret) the name of another player's character.

You win when your character kisses their character.

It's up to the GM to dictate what happens that day - maybe they watch a film, or go to the beach, or whatever. Probably as a GMPC that's also the club president, perhaps not. Basically, making the narrative resemble a cute-girls-doing-cute-things slice of life. Character sheets could, and probably should, be used, with skills and such to resemble personalities having a tangible effect on the proceedings, but mostly to prevent everyone from forcibly kissing each other right at the get go.

But it gets interesting, because your (and everybody else's) win condition is secret. A lot of subterfuge, allegiances, betrayal, misdirection, and all other manner of goodness coming into it, all for the express purpose of getting your mack on with another girl.

Or if you'd prefer, yuri anime Diplomacy.

Yay or nay?

What prevents you from just secretly killing everyone else?

Use the basic system from Panty Explosion?

That way every character would have Best Friend, Rival, and Crush.

So, we should have a table for personality. You either pick it or roll randomly for a few traits.

We obviously need Shipper [Willpower test to not manipulate a situation to benefit her ship(s)], Tsundere [Difficult Willpower test to admit crush] and Pervert [Willpower test to not perform perverted acts relating to crush when unseen]

Also, how will this play out? Are you trying to role play your way into a situation you can get your kiss, or is there a mechanic to decide that?
I would suggest Romance Points. You must make your crush reach a certain about of RoP for you to get your kiss. This could be done by chatting to them, sharing popcorn or snuggling up to them when sleeping. Once you have enough, you just have to get some alone time with them and then all your dreams come true. Of course, some actions may cause a lowering in RoP, which may be your intention, and your rival will start with a minus amount of RoP towards you.
>>

>Panty Explosion
Reading through pdf, not sure if srs
>>
>>23958310
Of course, this creates and amusing situation when your crush has you listed as a Rival and you must fight for her love.

On further reflection, why not a point but system for personality, like in AdEva? This means you aren't just a Super Cute Loli, but also Jealous and a Glutton.

I think making characters in secret may be the way to go. Your crush hates gluttons and is a happy polygamist? What is a girl to do? And what's happened to your underwear recently? You keep finding it crumpled!
>>
>>23958360
i was just posting it again for the guy who posted the DL link for it. i can assure you the system is srs.
>>
>>23958368
>immediately picture that little girl from medaka box
>>
>>23958342
Thus comes in the "B-b-but we're both girls!" rule! If you kiss your Crush without the correct number of RoP, you fail as your Crush freaks out at your sudden assault! While you can still take part in the game, your Crush refuses to speak to you and your RoP score is frozen.
>>
>>23958376
But it's called Panty Explosion.
But it has a section on self harm and sexual abuse.
>>
>>23958402
This means, then, you can still win if the rest of the players drop heavy spaghetti.

Also, I think epilogues should be mandatory, with the winning couple getting to dicate the what happens to the spaghetti droppers.
"You drowned your heart ache in body pillows and deluxe dildos."
>>
>>23958402
what, you cant muscle through the frozen score later with meaningful grand displays of affection (seriously, i could plan a romantic riverside fireworks show that wouls thaw even the most frigid of ice queens) or tortured lesbian angst? this isn't kannazuki no miko at all!
>>
>>23958437
Well, who knows. I'm just throwing out ideas here. Maybe displays of Grand Affection are make-or-break ploys? Depending on how well it goes, you can unfreeze your RoP, alone with a healthy boost in the glow of the sky or be Sent Home Early after burning down the hotel.
>>
>>23958468
Along*
>>
>>23958468
So if you freeze it you aren't TOTALLY fucked. I like it.
>>
>>23958501
Well, you're out the runnings unless you can pull some epic level romance. If someone kissed you out the blue, it'd require some pretty amazing love craft to not only get your trust back, but to fan your affections for them in the process.
Grand Displays should be the last ditch, do or die, once per session event. The epic 20 or 1 that decides your character's fate. It shouldn't be a safety net for assburgers, but a swimming pool you can either gracefully land in, or smash face first into.

Anyway, you could still win if your frozen RoP is higher than everyone else's
>>
This is a grand and noble idea OP. You have my attention.
>>
I can dig idea as a ccg game. There could be cards to score affection points as well as cards to reduce another competitor, so it would be a fight to seduce/rape your target, or to not allowing the rest of the party to score.

I believe in the heart of the cards would have a new meaning.
>>
>>23958536
I completely understand that. It's a gamble that MIGHT save your ass if shit hits the fan is all.
>>
>>23958552
I dunno. I think actually roleplaying would be half the fun and as I understand it, roleplaying in ccgs is looked down upon.
>>
Right, so what sort of game are we looking at here? Are we going to have stats and dice rolls, or a bunch of skills that we try to use in the situation?

I personally advocate have a few stats and dice rolls, along with traits that give you bonuses or penalties.
>>
>>23958601
I say keep it simple, the only crunch on your sheet are positive and negative traits that give bonuses/penalties in certain situations, everything is just rolls (mostly opposed) and trying to roleplay well enough to get a good circumstance bonus.
>>
Fuck it, since I'm samefagging it up in here, and I don't know if OP had any ideas for actual mechanics, I'm going to work off what I know.

Each Lesbian has Fitness (Carrying heavy lunch boxes, lifting up other Lesbians, Running a marathon etc), Nimbleness (Playing Jenga, copping a feel without being caught, doing car tricks), Intelligence (Solving a riddle, dispensing movie trivia, remembering where the clit is), Perceptivness (Finding clues on a crime scene, firing a bow accurately, finding a hole in a bathroom wall) and Willpower (ignoring your favourite meal, stopping a sneeze, resisting an orgasm).

You'd have builds which effects your stats (Athletic is 25+2d10 for Fitness, 15+2d10 Intelligence) and a certain number of points to spend on Traits (aspects of your personality), split into Vices and Virtues. Vices (Glutton, Shipper, Tsundere) give you points to spend, Virtues (Busty, Sensual, Funny) take away points and you must have spent a certain amount on each.

You then list your fellow Lesbians, with RoP scores and determine a Rival (-10 RoP) and Best Friend (+1d3+1 RoP).

Then, you are randomly given your Crush. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
>>
>>23958667
Oh, and you get maximum RoP points for your Crush.
>>
>>23958667
>remembering where the clit is
Why the hell would a girl need to roll for that?
>>
>>23958684
You're in the heat of the moment, you might forget. It's just an example and rolls off the tongue better than "Remember the position you saw in your dirty manga)
>>
>>23958684

Not every clit is exactly the same, so maybe "figuring out the best way to stimulate this clit" would be more appropriate.

The genre that OP's proposed game harkens to never really gets that explicit, though, especially if the endgame is just a kiss.

>Virtues

Intelligent, Athletic, Focus,

>Vices

Bossy, lazy, sweet tooth, Distractable

I don't read a lot of the manga we're talking about, so I'm mostly going off of the occasional thing I've seen scanlated on /a/.

Various activities could be boosted or hindered by different stats? If your crush invites you over to help with her homework Studious would net you points, Distractable would be a disaster of you not managing to help.

Would it be best if the Vices/Virtues were paired off? Studious and Distractable, for example.
>>
Ditzy, virtue or vice - debate of the decade
>>
>>23958822
Obviously a draw back.

Oh, what if we have an attraction and turn off chart? You select a couple of Virtues and vices that your character is attracted to. Maybe she likes to bake and Gluttony is a turn on?
>>
>>23958804
Only pair turnoff when it's obvious. Gets too complicated otherwise.
>>
>>23958822

In that case, maybe "virtue or vice" is too restrictive. Depending on situations Studious could be helpful (homework, impressing people with your test scores) or a hindrance (you're too uptight to have fun at karaoke and everyone notices, for example.)

In that case just have people choose (or roll against a table) to get a handful of attributes. The Teacher can either use a chart or their own judgement in each situation to see how the trait would effect what they're doing. Naturally you can try to bullshit the DM or arrange opportunities for other girls' traits to sabotage them.

Remember, in these kinds of shoujo shows everything - absolutely everything - comes back to your character archetype somehow.
>>
>>23958881
So, Virtues, Vices, Turn-Ons and Turn-Offs.
Virtues, obviously what virtues the character has
Vices, same shebang
Turn-Ons, what Virtues/Vices that character finds bueno
Turn-Offs, what Virtues/Vices that character doesn't find so bueno
>>
Traits and Turn-Os
Traits, combination of Vices and Virtues
Turn-Os, combination of Turn offs and ons
>>
>>23958955
Sounds about right. You choose your personal Traits and your Turn-Os from the same list.
Now, we'll need the list itself.
>>
>>23958955

I'm not as confident about the turn-ons thing. On a meta level, if the girl that's your secret crush happens to roll one of your traits as her turn-off then the game becomes unwinnable.

In-universe, whatever your moe trait is should be so overridingly powerful that your crush is defenseless against it.

>>
>>23959261
Well that's what the Romance Points are for. When you get enough on your Crush, and get a moment alone, then you can initiate the kiss and win the game! It's in the interests of other Lesbians to stop you getting enough RoP, whether they are working for another Lesbian, you are their Crush, or they just want to fuck with their Rival.
>>
>>23959261
>>23959295
Further, even if you ignored that metagaming aspect, if there's one girl you're trying to kiss, you're not gonna go messing around with other girls, in case it ruins your chances with The One.
>>
>>23959336
Maybe there should be some mechanics in place that punish you for being mean and antisocial and stuff. Nobody wants to have anything to do with a spiteful, self-serving bitch after all.
>>
>>23959336
But that's where the machinations come in! Can you out play the other Lesbians to be with your Crush, before they entrap you in their own web of lovesickness.

It's the classic case in anime. A wants to go with B, but C's friend D rigs events so that A is forced to spend time with C, who has a crush on A. Thus, A does not get to fan the flame of affection in B, while C fans A's affection for her.
>>

>>23959033
There's a second edition with more anime pictures.
>>
>>23959360
But B has no interest in C, doesn't want to do anything that will ruin her chances with A, and either goes or home or rejects all of Cs advances.
>>
>>23959382
Furthermore, if you say that those are not options, and that kissing is based on some point score C can earn without A's cooperation, then you're just spending half the game telling your players what their characters do.
>>
>>23959382

But she can't reject the advance the situation represents a chance for C to earn RoP's with her.

She doesn't get to choose if she get's swept of her feet or not.
>>
Use the Best-Friend/Rival system. If they succeed, their best friend gets to narrate what happens (and pity the best friend who shares the crush), if they fail, their rival describes how they fuck up.
>>
>>23959439

Perhaps a different wincon is required.
>>
>>23959453

Well shit. This sounds like its going to be an an endless war of moe-lation.
>>
>>23959382
Uh, C is trying to get A to love her.

Let's make it more complicated!

D is actually infatuated with B, but B secretly loves C. So, while C gets RoP points with A, D gets RoP points with B. A and B ultimately lose out, but now A has the upper hand on being able to spend time with B, since he's already partnered up with C before hand. But, B wants to make sure she can spend time with C, so now A and B are working against each other without even knowing it!

>>23959439
This is why I think we need stats. We need a chance to screw things up. C tries to impress A with a card trick, but her Nimbleness isn't high enough, leaving A unimpressed. She slips away to find B, but B gets pissed her Crush has been left alone, so runs to save her from a scary Ferris wheel.
>>
>>23959482
This could work!
>>
>>23959517
That hasn't changed the fundamental basis of being told what your character does.

It's like a game of a Star Wars RPG where every scene is decided by a Mind-Trick roll on the other character.
>>
>>23959555
Right, so that is a problem we need to address.

Any ideas?
>>
>>23959578
It's a problem in most social games, but well, in the end, you've got to lose a little bit of narrative control to the dice in the end.

Otherwise it'd be like a fighting game where you could never defeat anyone because "the way to win is to not die, so attacks don't hit you because that'd be bad."
>>
>>23959578

What if it's just trying to get points and the first one to get the points is able to kiss/enter a scene where they will try to kiss their crush? Maybe a Rival can try to break this up if they have enough rival points or something, so the game could be between knowing what kind of scenes and points you get, balancing it out so you have the chance to enter this scenes and have the points available to make it so other don't succeed.

The GMPC is everyone's Crush. The Lesbians fight over over The Crush's affections. The Winner is the one who gets the kiss.

Elegen/tg/entlemen, we need to make Lesbian Harem: The Game
>>
>>23959740

This might solve the wincon problem but it does raise the issue of Best Friends competing ALL the time.
>>
>>23959740

But a Lesbian Harem will have different mechanics than a Lesbian Romantical war. A Lesbian Harem sounds a lot like Maid RPG.
>>
How about this, it's not Crushes, but True Love.

And it's secret from the players. They only find out by kissing, and even then you may end up with the wrong one.

And it opens that one wonderful moment when two players find out that their true loves are one another.

How about you can go positive or negative in each stat?

0 n each is average, and everyone gets a number of positive and negative points. They should be able to allocate them so that they can be an average student, but this is anime, so nobody is an average student.

Stats could probably be scaled down so that the number in that stat is your roll modifier. So five would probably be the maximum in either direction.
Negative stats aren't necessarily bad, and can add to being moe. If that's what you need.

Traits could also give you points either way, with a roleplaying caveat.

We also need to figure out the scale for RoP.
How much are you getting per session? How much do you need to get total? Can you see that number?

Judging by the numbers you've thrown out, every 10 RoP can give up to a 1 point circumstance bonus to doing stuff with the other character.

I'll be back later. I hope this goes well, I know a few people who would play it.

Regarding the virtues / vices thing earlier in the thread, and how something can actually be a bonus in certain situations but a hindrance in others... why not treat them like FATE treats aspects? In FATE, when you invoke an aspect and it is judged as appropriate for the situation, you get +2 to dice roll. When your aspect gets compelled and is judged appropriate, it gives you trouble of some sort but you get fate points in return (which are used to invoke aspects).
>>
>>23959945
Hmm, does everyone *know* what the correct number of RoP are? It seems like it would be more interesting if they only know the range (with there being formula for the Teacher to figure out the exact amount) so there's more chance of that rule getting invoked.
>>
>>23960006
Yeah, I think RoF levels should be secret in some fashion.
Maybe only you and the Teacher know what your RoF levels are for a person. You know how much you love them, but don't know how much they love you.
>>
>>23960027
I think it'll be good if all players have at least a rough idea of everyone's levels. That way, there's more chance of someone deciding to actually risk the "B-b-but we're both girls!" stuff if they know another player has enough RoP with someone that she could auto-succeed on the kiss.
>>
>>23960074
That sounds fair. Vague hints from the Teacher, then?
"She seem to blush when you talk to her."
"She smiles when she sees you."
"She glowers at your arrival."

Of course, having "Shy" or "Tsundere" could throw up some red herrings.
>>
Hmm... I honestly have no clue about how Yandere would be handled
>>
>>23960135
Lose it then.
>>
>>23960100

This. Just like it's impossible to truly know how someone feels about you during the chase, only Teacher should have the exact numbers.
>>
>>23960100
You also need a way to gauge how everyone else is doing, maybe a check for how well you can interpret gossip. The way I'm imagining this is that all the players know that each kiss has a required RoP somewhere between X&Y, they know their own RoP for each other girl and they can make checks to determine those girls' RoP (one kind for towards you, another for towards the rest of the group). Of course, it sounds like the consensus is to obfuscate that a bit from the players but I think this works for the underlying system.
>>
>>23960135
Yandere could get dark quickly. Like Shadows over Camelot style, where one player is the yandere and no one knows. Until it is too late.

That's changing the whole game there, may be better to just leave it out.
>>
okay, here's another potential idea.

Everyone has the perfect way they've dreamed of someone kissing them. A way and a place that would make it perfect.

When someone tries to kiss you in that perfect way, it's damn hard to say no, even if you're not crushing on them.

So you might have places like:
School Roof
At Home
Walking Home
etc.

And Ways such as:
During the Rain
Public Confession of Love
etc.

And part of the thing is to find out your crush's "Perfect Moment", and pulling it off so that they fall for you, even without them crushing on you.
>>
>>23960200
Yeah, for it to fit the tone we've got going here you'd need to turn down yandere until it was practically just tsundere.
>>
>>23959781
Sounds like /u/nicorns to me.
>>
>>23960206
I like this idea.
>>
>>23960206
That's actually a pretty damn solid idea. I like it!
>>
>>23960206
This idea could work. Like a grand enough show of affection could generate a secondary crush on the person doing the show?
>>
>>23960258
No, /u/ doesn't go in for that sort of thing. We keep to ourselves because we can't cope well with trolls.

I just happen to be a ca/tg/u/rl.
>>
>>23960333
Well, okay...
>>
>>23960322
I thought we'd moved away from crushes to the Teacher keeping track of which pairs harbor latent True Love?
>>
Right, so let's see what we've got so far.

You choose some Traits, which define your character and Turn-O's, which define things that will increase/decrease your RoF. (I think we should keep this. You have to look past your True Love's flaws.) If you can convince the Teacher that your trait fits a situation, you can use it to increase rolls. But, the Teacher can also use it against you.

The Teacher then selects a True Love for you. You win the game when you kiss your True Love, which is kept hidden from you. In order to successfully kiss someone, you must achieve a certain amount of Romance Points (RoP) for them. You know how many you have from other Lesbians (how you feel about them), but not how many they have from you (their feelings for you). Only the Teacher knows what everyone feels for each other.

But, if you kiss them out of the blue, you invoke the "But We're Both Girls" rule, which freezes their RoP meter for you. You cannot gain RoP with them for the rest of the game, meaning you might have lost your True Love for good!

The only way to unfreeze a RoP meter is by a Display of Grand Affection. This should take a long time to set up and you only have one shot at it. If you succeed, you may unfreeze their meter, gain some RoP with them, or even max it out (if your roll is good enough!). But, if you fail, you can gain a whole load of negative RoP, or even be Sent Home Early (roll a new Lesbian, buster.)
>>
>>23960206
Adapting this to the True Love idea, perfectly recreating a person's Dream Kiss can net you a healthy amount of RoP, if you are set on this kiss being The One.

Maybe we could have a condition for someone changing their True Love? Maybe if you get double their required RoP?
>>
>>23960390
The one thing I would amend is that while you don't know exactly how many RoP other Lesbians have, you can get a rough idea.

Also, are the True Loves paired up like >>23960371 said or is it just like crushes but secret?
>>
Hmm...
I'm guessing Sensei'll give hints about your True Love. Nothing big, of course
>>
>>23960432
Maybe a "It doesn't matter if they're not the one. They love me, and that's enough" rule.

Worth less points than finding their true love, but still more than being unhappy alone.
>>
>>23960480
I dunno, I kinda like the thought of players building up the points to just keep kissing each other until they find the right one.
>>
>>23960475
That's what I said, isn't it?

I think it's just crushes, but secret. Makes the process of elimination harder.
>>
>>23960493
How about a points system? the game ends when someone finds their true love. Points are earned for doing things over the game, including getting someone to fall for you and finding your true love. At the end of the game the points are tallied and whoever has the highest score wins.
Sound good?
>>
>>23960390

Can Rivals try to stop this with some kind of Rival points, or will the lesbians just keep to themselves? Or maybe even try to help others as BEST FRIENDS and gain some kind of prize or points for this.
>>
>>23960528
Yeah, I'm going to agree with you Anon. Sensei will give hints regarding other Lesbians' RoP for you, but nothing else.
>>
Damn. Someone show this to /a/. They'll fucking love it, maybe forgive us for the troll naruto picture we put on the Maid RPG cover for the board tabletop chart.
>>
>>23960539
That's sounds like a good idea. At the end, everyone tallies up their RoP and add/minus points from various conditions (Kissed The Most Girls = +10, Thwarted by Rival = -10). Changing someone's True Love (Getting double the required RoP) to yourself should net you a whole bag of points.
>>
>>23960547
Oh god.

Let's say you find out that your rival is close to finding their true love.

So before they can do so, you try and pull off the Perfect Moment with their true love, just to ruin it for them.
>>
>>23960619
So, Blackrom is an option?
>>
>>23960547
Well, like I said here: >>23960603, Rivals minus the ending score of their enemy Lesbian. There is no reward for thwarting love other than spiteful satisfaction. Best Friends, on the other hand, should get points for helping their friends.
>>
The Winning Lesbian is named "The Protagonist"

No. I say this as a fan of Homestuck - please stop trying to insert troll romance into this. The comic explicitly states that humans cannot into blackrom and it would be unhealthy and awful to try.

How would you get all participants to never speak about the game to anyone outside the group?
>>
>>23960985
It'd be a one shot game, duh.
>>
>>23960985
What if your friends are actually japanese lesbian schoolgirls? Nothing strange about it then, right?
>>
>>23960985
Oh come on, like you've never played an RPG you'd be ashamed to tell your family about.

>>23961013
The way we're talking in here I think it would take way longer than one session to get a winner unless someone got real lucky.
>>
>>23960985
Remember, ERP is a thing that exists - by comparison this is fairly tame.

Weird in its own right though, but I imagine for a lot of people it might make for a nice change of pace.

I would play this in the FLGS at 4 o clock in the afternoon on RPG night. fuck the police.

>>
So are we done talking about the mechanics of the game? Because I can't wait to run a game of this.
>>
/a/non here, um...
If every character gets another target than his target gets, then everyone would chase after everyone else and noone would ever allow to get kissed by anyone else but their target, so there can't be a winner.
If two character get each other as targets however, the game would be over very soon.
How do you solve this?
>>
>>23962050
We changed to having the targets be secret from the players as well, so you don't know if that girl you're about to kiss is your True Love or not.
>>
>>23962099

thx for telling me after not reading the whole thread
kidna reminds me of the one time I was playing Maid with a bunch of crazy people.
>>
How are we doing dice rolls in this? Is it just "Sensei sets a number, roll below it and you succeed?"
>>
>>23962165
Whatever you want really, DH-based (% roll under) GURPS-based (3d6 roll under), Target Number, etc. You're the one who gives enough fucks to write it up, you get to decide.
>>
>>23962203
This pleases me. Just thought I'd check in.
>>
>>23962210
The one piece of advice I'd give is keep in mind what the general results are for each system and pick what you think works best (like how with GURPS the rolls are a bell curve, for DH or OGL everything has the same probability).
>>
>>23962210
I'm sure once you post the pdf (at this stage I'd start a new thread for it, even if you get it done before this one dies) we'll give our opinions on what we think works and what doesn't. So I wouldn't worry too hard for this first version.
>>
I didn't get any answer in the /a/ thread, so I'll ask here as well: If I want to use this for a Girls Und Panzer game (once you guys get the rules done), what would you recommend for the tank battle part of things?
>>

A 'Mr World' is apparently writing up a pdf. He went to bed before it was finished, will apparently try to get it done and posted today sometime maybe.
>>
I like the idea of setting up the game this way, but give a single person the task of killing everybody without anyone else finding out who it was. Give the killer some bonuses on combat stuff, and secretly run the game in GURPS without giving their characters the character sheets, or letting them know they exist.

It starts off happy, with people thinking that everyone but them is supposed to kiss each other and everything is lovely, but it turns into Higurashi when everything goes to shit. Maybe throw some psychological stuff in there too. I would love to see their faces when the first death occurs, or when someone wants to fight back and is handed a combat-ready character sheet for their own character.
