Freak Quest time!

In this quest, you take the role of a big armed, friendly freak, who is currently adventuring with his lizard like friend Joey.

Previous threads can be found here:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=freak+quest

In the last session, after fleeing from a guardian brute with Joey, you passed out in a small chamber with a bed, and experienced a creepy and strange poison induced dream sequence. After waking up on the bed with Joey, she explained that the freak who had let you in to the chamber had healed you while you were passed out. She told that this "Nice Lady" had taken the strange syringe that you had discovered earlier as a payment from healing you.
Before investigating this further, you however, decided to regain some strength.

>How this works:
Suggest an action and the freak will act. I will try to illustrate it as well as I can. Certain actions will require 1d10 rolls to see if they are successful. There are also slightly more complicated rules for combat:

There are 3 stats, strength, toughness, and agility, in addition to them, there are hitpoints.
All stats are capped at 10, and the baseline hitpoints of a gutterborn freak like the MC are 6.

Attacks are handled like this:
The attacker rolls 2d6.
The first roll is for the attack damage, second for the speed.
Damage: 1d6+str+modifiers (if there are any)- the foe's toughness.
Speed: 1d6+agi

The target of the attack may try to either dodge or block the blow.
Dodge: 1d6+agi vs Attack speed.
Bloc: 1d6+toughness vs attack damage.
Ties go in the favor of the attacker.

These rules are still work in progress, and I appreciate any input on them.

Here is your current inventory:

>3 empty small containers.
>1 full small containers (1 biogel dozes)
>1 medium container with 5 biogel dozes.
>Cutting tools.
>Claw arm.
>Improved walking eye bladder.
>1 ration package.
>Bone armor.

You are also equipped with a bone sword.
Joey has the bone knife.

Introducing the Journal, which will from now on display things of interest. It's purpose is to keep track of things that players want to investigate further.

You and Joey are currently sitting on the bed, eating the delicious Jello you found in the chamber.
You feel slight aches on your still healing wounds, and your head is still slightly dizzy from presumably the poison that was in your system.

What will you do.

>In general, updates will take around 10-20 minutes to be posted.
>>
>>24087675
I'm really angry that the strange syringe was taken from us, I had a vested interest in it. But NOT being killed by poison seems like a fair trade.

Is the red teardrop thing on the wall just a light source? Take action: Investigate the status of the upper bar floor by poking our head out the door. I just want to find and talk to Javak. Getting deeply involved with a potential vat mother so quickly seems a bad idea.
>>
>>24087675
I am interested in obtaining that drink that boosts our regeneration, we seem to take a lot of damage, and it is a solid investment so we don't wake up in strange places from blood loss...plus that freak carcass and extra armor at the shop. many get enough bits and peices from the corpse to make a straight trade.

You go peek outside while leaving Joey to eat the rest of the Jelly.
You also take a quick look at the red thing on the wall. It seems to be just some sort of glowing thing, attached to the wall, but you can't say for sure without closer examination.

As for the corridor outside of the door, you don't see anyone right now. Due to the shape of the doorway, you however, have very limited field of vision right now.

The dark purple one with red tendrils rising from it.
Ask Joey, "do you know where these containers came from, did the nice lady leave them?" Yes I am suggesting we drink one before asking sensible questions.
>>
>>24088086
purple tentacle-aid it is!
>>
>>24088045

You start sniffing and studying the containers.
The brown small one has some sort of powdery, yellowish substance inside of it, which doesn't really smell at all to you.
The large green vat is filled with sour smelling green slime, and small, translucent globs with many tendrils, that seem to slowly swim around in the slime.
In the light grey tubular vat, there seems to be many long sticks, that give of a sweet, sugary scent.
The purple container lack an obvious opening, besides a small slit at the middle of the tendrils that slowly sway from it, making deciphering it's contents somewhat hard. The tentacles themselves, smell somewhat like blood.

You pick up the purple container, and prepare to drink it down.

You begin to drink down the liquid in the purple container. The tendrils caress your face, as the sour tasting liquid touches your tongue.
You take one gulp, and cough up some of it.
It has a very strong taste, which burns your tongue. It has a traces of the sweetness of biogel, but the burning, sour taste is much stronger.
The stuff doesn't taste especially good.

"Hey! Did you find some tassty drinkss?" You hear Joey say.
"Give me so- whatss that?!"
Joey seems somewhat more alert now, and her ears seem to twitch.
"This iss funny! I can hear Nice Lady, even though she is in the other room!"

Joey tells you that the voice of the nice lady comes from somewhere behind that door. She says that if she remembers correctly, there should be some sort of corridor behind it as she saw the Nice Lady leave there.

What will you do? Open the door and continue trying to eves drop on the nice lady, or do something else?

You still can't really hear anything, but Joey presses her head against the door, and stands still for few moments.
"I thinks that I can hear something more..but the heart beat of the door iss..loud..messess up.."

You can try to roll 1d10 for Joey's attempts to better make out what is being discussed somewhere beyond the door.
Number to beat, 6.

You cautiously open the door, prepared to defend yourself against possible attacks with your bone sword...
Fortunately, there seems to be no need for that.
The corridor is empty. Joey says that she can hear the discussion coming from somewhere to your right. You are not sure if you can hear anything yet. The small sounds you can hear, might be just the general background noise this place itself makes.

Joey says that she can hear the two talking more clearly now, but she is not sure of what they are talking about now. According to her, they are probably still not in the chamber that the doorway opens into, as she would probably sense their movements with her ear tingling, if they were there.
(basically, Joey can detect movement on a short radius around her, but only if there are no door or walls to block the vibrations from moving trough the air.)

Your nostrils are flooded with a strange, sweet scent, as you step into this chamber bathed in strange, dim pinkish lights.

At the center of the chamber, there seems to be a large pool of red...something, which Joey immediately notices.

"Look!!" She whispers. "So much delicious blood! Can I drink it?!"

You yourself, can now clearly hear some vague whispers coming from the right pathway, but you can't yet pick up individual words.

"We probably shouldn't. It wasn't offered to us, so someone might get mad if we take it without asking."
>>
So, what will you do?
Do you continue to listen while you allow Joey to go gorge herself in the red liquid, or do you tell her to stay put. (Of course, she might not obey you, seeing how she is an independent little freak, who happens to love blood)

It seems that there is currently no one else in this particular chamber. The whispering however, is coming from the doorway to your right.
>>
>>24089938
I guess let her gorge herself while we go listen to the right.

Sorry it took this long, had to make another background picture for future use.

As you advance forward, the whispering becomes more clear.

You can now pick up some words, like:
".. assignment....orders...stroke of luck...importance...gutterspawn...aromaculi...sister..." and so on. You can't make out proper sentences though, so not much of the whispering makes that much sense to you.

>critical success.

With your iron will, you steel yourself and concentrate, allowing you to hear the smallest sounds all around you, the splashes of water from the pool, the tiny little noises from the glowing spores, as they gently fall down, the flowing of the blood inside the veins of the walls, at this moment, you have clarity.
Maximum spy moment!
Most importantly, you hear the discussion the two older freaks are having:

(Unknown voice 1):"..you know the risks, are you absolutely sure that this item is indeed what you think it is?"
(Unknown voice 2):"It has to be. It fits the descriptions revered sister Sirai gave to us during her lesson on Noble artifacts."
(1):"But why would two gutterspawn even have an aromaculi with them? The whole thought is presumptuous! How would they even acquire one?"

(2):"I do not know sister, but it seemed that the smaller one was completely oblivious to the nature of this device. She was happy to give it away. They must have found it from somewhere."
(1):"That's unlikely. The nobles don't just hand these around! They just inject their drones and lackeys with the contents."
(2):"Can you give a better explanation?"
(1):"....well...maybe they stole it?"
(2):"Two gutterspawn? You realize that they are at most, 4 days old? How in the world they would steal it?"
(1):"Maybe they stole it from the merchant that seems to own them?"
(2):"..I doubt that even the merchant knows what this is..otherwise, he would have taken much better care of it wouldn't he? and besides, why would the gutterspawn even steal it? They have no idea of what it is. The only reasonable explanation is that they somehow, just found one lying in some of the gutters. Maybe a noble servant was killed and dropped his one or something?"

There is a pause for a moment, before they continue again...(cont.)
>>
>>24090749

(1):"Well, to what house does that thing even belong to?"
(2):"That is what has been puzzling me...I can't recognize the insignia carved to it. It's not like any house symbols that we have learned."
(1):"What?... Didn't Revered sister Sirai claim to have taught us all the symbols of local significant houses, along with the ones of the Great ones? Are you doubting her teachings?"
(2):"No, I am not...I hope so at least..But I am sure that this symbol is not among the ones she taught us. Look at it yourself! It must be either from..operatives of some distant minor house, who for some reason, came to this backwater place...but.."
(1):"..but that doesn't make any sense. Minor houses lack such projecting power, and they would certainly not allow their aromaculi to be taken on such a risky mission. Other houses might claim it and send infiltrators using the scent against them."
(2):"We must take this to Sister Sirai... This might be very important discovery...It might grant us our accession into trusted sisters! We could finally leave this wretched place!"
(1):"But how can we deliver it? We can't leave our posts here? We have a mission, and unless that device is absolutely worth risking it, we can't expose ourselves. Unless Char sends us away or replaces us with new consorts, which is unlikely...seeing our...popularity with his customers."
(2):"We could use Lekha? Give him the instructions to deliver the device to Sirai?"
(1):"No! We can't. He would just take all the credit from discovering it from us, and ascend himself. You know he would, and neither of us wants to see him as a new trusted brother."

cont..(sorry that this is taking this long, but hey, you rolled a critical success on this, so you bet you will be hearing the whole discussion)
>>
>>24091053
It's cool man.
>>
>>24091053

(2):"But what other methods do we have? This device is clearly of some significance. Sister Sirai needs to see it."
(1):"Well, if we can't deliver it ourselves, we could use someone else..someone who doesn't realize the significance of it?"
(2):"And who would that be? None of the our..customers..value us in any way, why would they do anything we ask, especially if we can't pay them?
(1):"..I don't know..maybe we could try to pool up some of the tips they give us?"
(2):"..and risk punishment and potential exposure from Char?! You know that we aren't allowed to keep the tips!"
(1):"Then what do you suggest! If this thing is the key to our ascension and freedom from this wretched guilder infested whorehouse, I suggest that you two try to come up with some ideas!"
(2):"..I am sorry sister...well..we can't leave without risking blowing our cover and our mission..and we can't use Lekha...nor any of the customers to deliver the aromaculi..we need someone that we can easily either convince or manipulate into doing what we want...but also lacks the knowledge of the true nature of the device....Yes! I now know what to do! The two gutterspawns! They are young, and impressionable! The smaller one practically worshiped me for treating the bigger one! She fully believed the poison story I told her, and allowed me to take the aromaculi without question! We could wrap the device in a package saturated with a personal pheromone message to Sirai, and give it to the two. Then we would just need to convince them to take it to Sirai!"
(1):"....can we trust the aromaculi on the two? They are gutterspawns, and besides, I think that the cursed Godal merchant owns them anyways."
(2):"...well..we could use a little of our..chemical magic..to convince them to leave the merchant behind..it's not like he has them on chains...
(1):"..excellent...we retain our cover, and still manage to deliver the device to Sirai...I can't wait to see Lekha's face.."

gentlefreeks, we have options...we either grab her, run like hell, and hope the sisters do not notice that we were here, which depends on how much this stuff smells. Or Two...we play up that we are retarted gutter spawn. Ham it up like champs. Nice lady has nice pool of yummy stuff and helped keep the small friend safe! After all, we probably just drank half a jug of potpourri or a douche. Probably not too hard for a stretch for her to buy. Jump in the pool, have fun and act retarded.

In the few seconds that you have to decide what yo do, you ponder the options you have. You can either rush to the pool, and grab Joey, and then run back to the bedroom, but risk the older freaks smelling that you had visited the pool...or you can run into the pool, and act inconspicuous there.
Both tactics are risky, but the later one gives you more time to quickly explain Joey what's up, and tell her to act the part.

You jump into the pool, and startle Joey.

A never mind that.
I have this picture ready, so I am gonna post it.

You do your best to appear somewhat dumb, and not really aware of the fact that you are apparently trespassing and in general, try to raise as little suspicion as possible.

"What's a consort?" you ask meekly, while making little splashes towards Joey, who herself seems somewhat confused, but also starts splashing, as if you two had been doing it for the whole time.

(2):"..That doesn't matter. Get out of the pool, now!"
(1):"We have a little task for you two..if you play nice..and do what we want, you will be rewarded."

Again, I apologize for taking this long.

You step out of the pool, and help Joey out of it too by lifting her with your strong hand.
The lady with the insectoid head things (2) continues to speak:
"Now, you two listen very, very carefully. We have a special mission for you, that is very important. But firstly, we need to ask you some questions:
Big one, can you fight and defend yourself?
Little one, do you remember, where you found the pretty thing you gave to me as a payment.
And finally, where did your master find or buy you?"

The taller, fleshier freak nods after her sister stops speaking and says:
"You must answer these questions truthfully. If you act nice, and do as we say, nothing bad will happen to you two."

Joey clings to your arm, clearly intimidated by the two freaks.

You and Joey tell that you found the strange syringe thingy in the gutters, that Javak found you in there too, and that you are capable of fighting.
The two seems to be pleased by these answers, and the insectoid lady says:
"Alright then, let's get you two ready. Follow me."
>>
Shall we stab them in the back? They are going to try and brainwash us.
>>
Make sure to tell them that no one else knows about the syringe. Make the lie as pleasing and pacifying to them as possible.
>>
>>24095208
I'm not sure we can handle these two. Let's ask them to talk to our "master" first. We'll say we're sure he wouldn't mind earning a bit of biogel lending us out for whatever its "nice ladies" need.
>>
>>24095208

I am not sure if we should.
From what I understood from the discussion between the two we overheard, it seems that they are in a pretty shitty situation too. They seem like some sort of lower ranking Vat Mothers who are working undercover as slaves/prostitutes, and with no real way to get out of the situation, other than delivering the potentially important syringe thing to their masters.
>>
>>24095208
Not yet we'll betray them taking credit for the syringe ourselves and i'm pretty sure their "brainwashing" works like joeys i.e suggestion

I have an idea: Let us pretend to be under joeys own mind control pheremones, and get her to ask if she can become a "nice lady" one day. The sisters will realize joey is a gutterspawn that has become like a vat mother on her own, think twice about brainwashing us, and get them to trust joey. I'm rolling to get this lie to work.
>>
>>24095318
go ahead follow them
>>
>>24095208

Uncertain; getting the hell out of here at speed would be a good idea, but remember, these are Vatmothers; perhaps not high level ones, but they're part of one of the big, resourceful factions. As such, there is a decent chance that they are hard as nails. I think a distraction then booking it may be better.
>>
>>24095318

We don't need the syringe. All things considered, keeping it may be akin to having a sword of Damocles over our head.
>>
>>24095447

>>
>>24095503

Sounded more like political positioning; it's Noble house biotech, which appears to be of a sort that has high value to the Vatmothers (and presumably the Nobles too). If you have ever watched Snatch, consider the sheer trouble caused by that diamond, then consider how this is not a Guy Ritchie film and that we will die horribly if caught in the crossfire (as opposed to having our Pikey gutterspawn friends save our hides).

You follow the two ladies out of the bath chamber, back to the corridor.
As you walk, the two older freaks chat casually with each other, seemingly not caring about your presence.
(You managed to really convince them with your "dumb stupid gutterspawn act")

"Things might just turn out alright after all Jial."
"True..I at least hope so. If we manage to pull this off, we could finally get out of this place."
"I can't wait to get back at Lekha...we might even manage to get rid of him completely, if we are allowed to become trusted sisters."
"We just have to home that these two gutter spawn are capable enough to deliver the package."

(you are currently walking in the corridor)

"Tum, could you prepare the package." says the insectoid lady, and before turning to you two.
"Now, little ones, go sit on the bed, so that I can't instruct you on what you must do."

"Unfortunately, I do not trust that you could find your destination, even if I explained it in detail. Thus, I will show it to you."

Before you can react, she grabs hold of you with her arms and says:
"Do not resist. It will hurt less."

Anyways, I might be able to continue this quest for few hours, if there is interest in that.
Also, feel free to suggest entries to the Journal.
I was supposed to mention that you can do that earlier, but I was so tired that I forgot.

However, now I am not tired, and if there are any questions or other topics relating to Freak Quest or Gigerworld in general that people would want to discuss, feel free to ask.

Well, if I would tell you that, it would ruin the mystery of trying to find it out in the quest, wouldn't it?
You should be able to figure the most important things about it's nature, from the discussion between the two older freaks.
>>
Bumbing in case people are still interested in discussing stuff related to this quest.
>>
>>24106210
ha! Ha. HAAAAAA. YES! Thats the stuff, that's the freaky mind warping shock and fear that I want from quests set in gigerworld. Thank you FQop, now we just need a dot on the map at that location and a simple journal entry about delivering the device. Maybe color code the both of them.

Good to hear that the animation was pleasing enough.

I'll do few quick finishing updates soon.
I promise that in the next session, you will get back to Javak.
>>
The vision ends as quickly as it started, and as you re-open your eyes, a sharp pain hits your head.

The insectoid lady laughs heartily, and taps your head.
"Don't worry little gutter runner, the pain will end soon. Tum, is the package ready?"

"It is, dear sister." Says the tall freak.

"Good, then we are set. Let us just hope that these little ones can do their task. Now you two, remember, that this is your special mission. Do not mention it to anyone else, understand? When you get to the temple, ask for Revered sister Siran. Don't worry about the door mistresses, they will let you pass..you are on a special mission, after all."

The tall freak presents you the package. It has a strange, somewhat sweet scent, which you can't entirely place.
"Now, treat this package with care, for your mission's success depends on it."

You have acquired a pheromone package containing the strange syringe (aromaculi).

>mfw embedded file errors everywhere.

Anyways, here is the updated Journal/stat/inventory and map picture.
http://i.imgur.com/kzHEoWG.png

Here is your current inventory:

>3 empty small containers.
>1 full small containers (1 biogel dozes)
>1 medium container with 5 biogel dozes.
>1 Pheromone package. (Strange syringe, aka aromaculi)
>Cutting tools.
>Claw arm.
>Improved walking eye bladder.
>1 ration package.
>Bone armor.

I seriously hope that moot fucking fixes this embedded file error issue.

Do you guys think we should ask them if they know where our friend Javak is?

What were the devs even fucking around with to break something as integral as images?

Might be better to ask Yzel (Bartender). Get directions back to the bar, peek in to see if the problem freaks have left yet.
>>
>>24110176
Thank you, shame that now my png files don't work.

Moot has a raging hate boner against sound threads, in where people post pictures with embedded music in them. It seems that he is willing to fuck over the whole site over those threads.
I seriously hope that this problem is solved soon. Because the program I use for these drawings can't save them as gif files.
>>
>>24110234
It's a roundabout way of doing things, but save the .png files, open them in paint, and save as .gif. See if that works.

This seems to be happening a lot lately what with breaking the extension and greentexting.

Yeah. Gifs are the most compressed format out of the three.
>>
>>24110209
A better thing to ask might be where the body of the spy(rapist?) you killed is, if they ask why just say he has some cool augs that we want, this might also lead us to Javak.

4chan not working for you and most of the people who were here yesterday not being around is not the best possible time for the quest. When it ended yesterday, most people, including me, assumed it would continue next week.

Could you call it quits and continue at another time when you can actually properly post the image. Keep the few last pictures that didn't come through properly now and repost them next time?

>>24106210

This is the kind of shit I mean. This is the best quest on /tg/ at current time, even if the audience seems kind of limited. It does not deserve to be buried into the last pages.
>>
>>24110491

That is what I was kinda planning to do.
I also got work tomorrow, so I can't really stay up late anyways.
It was however, good that this thread stayed here for today, so that I had the time to properly tie up this session and make that animation thing.

Basically, you and Joey are packing up, and about to leave the two ladies.
We will continue next week.

Woo! Freak Quest!
