new bionicle thread. you can talk about the story, rpg or war game
>>
>>24088642
Bionicles were the highlight of my childhood, I never knew there were actual games around them.
>>
>I'm gonna build my matoran RP system here. Feel free to make suggestions /tg/
The system will be skill-based and not class/level based, and will use the d20 as the main dice.
There will be 6 elements, and every element have 3 skills. In every skill, after you put x points into him, you will gain to choose a new ability. So if you put x points in earth (awareness) you could choose to get a low light vision or improved hearing. After y points in a element, you get a new ability- if you put y points in water, you could see better underwater.
>in character creation, you choose your element, which will give you bonus to the element's skills, and a unique ability.you can choose your equipment based on your element, and if you have the right skills, you can start with an animal are magical weapons.
>the elements and skills:
>fire
-melee
-blacksmithing
-leadership
>water
-swimming
-sailing
-sneaking
>wind
-performance
-ride
- range
>ice
-knowledge
-survival
-ice craft
>stone (brown)
-unarmed fighting
-running and climbing
-stone craft
earth (black)
-awareness
-strength
-engineering
>the basics of fighting:
>you attack
you roll range/melee/unarmed +weapon bonus
the target can block or dodge- block is melee/unarmed + weapon bonus, and dodge is (wind+stone)\2.
>you hit
roll range/melee/unarmed +weapon bonus. the target armor lower the score.
if you roll too low, nothing happend.
> you damage the target
you lower the target HP. if you remove 1\2 of the target HP in one attack, you knocked his mask off. if the target reach 0 HP and is still awake, he is now crippled/knocked out
>>
>mental and elemental attacks
these attacks are like normal attacks, only you roll the element or the power score (if mental) aginst the target element or oppesing element (if you use fire attack, you roll aginst fire or ice) or the opposing Principle- for every element, there is a Principle (water is purety, stone is creation, ice is peace, fire is courage, wind is faith, and earth is posperity). the effect change from attack to attack
>in the end of a fight/skill test/when the GM want, you will get exp, and you could put those point in any skill you want. for every level, the price is 2level-1 (so level 1 cost 1, 2 cost 3....).
there are no coins in mata nui (as far as i know). if you want to buy something, you have to trade somthing else for it.

now that i'm done with the basics, i can start the skill trees. so how many levels should the skills have?
>>
>>24088666
only vidya and board games. /tg/ gets shit done and creating a wargame and a RPG
>>
Have you heard about the new Tau codex?
>>
the old thread:

I stopped following after the spider things. Did Bionicle release anything noteworthy after that?
>>
>>24088830
the end of the story?
>>
>>24088862
Oh? That was the end? Huh. I only really remember the first generation and bohrok stuff, ater that it gets a bit hazy.
>>
>>24088894
the story started being shity when the whole "toa of the light" shit start. nothing good after that

Faggots!
I am wind-rider Kongu! Every single one of you is hate worthy! All are body-bloat, slow-think, no-lifes! You spend every second of bright-time looking at slow-think no-use pictures! You are everything bad-worse on Mata Nui! Truth-speak, have any of you ever gotten any Ga-Matoran? Quick-think, it could be that it is give-joy to point-laugh at others because of self-problems! You all take up-tree to new heights though! This is bad-worse than rod-rubbing to Po-Matoran carvings!

Don’t be not-known! Crash-wreck me if you can! I’m no-flaw sing-song! Captain of the Gukko Force! Starter of Le-Koro koli team! What fun-good activities you do, other than “self-pleasure to non-armour matoran”? I also do good thought-plans, and have a skilled second (he just blew rama swarm out of air; battle-flight was SO widgets!)!

You are all ever-ugly slow-thinks who should just remove masks. Thanks for listening.

After spiders...
>Back to the present (2004 and 2005 were in the past)
>6 matoran from 2001 - 2003 become toa
>They fight evil criminals called the Piraka over the mask of life, which they need to stop Mata Nui (god) from dying
>They get the mask, which zips off under the ocean
>Toa get new aquatic forms to pursue the mask, fight 6 warlords called the Barraki
>One of the toa sacrifices himself by putting on the mask to save Mata Nui
>The original toa from 2001 - 2003, with new flying forms, fight 6 makuta at the centre of the universe to wake up Mata Nui
>They manage to do so
[spoilers]>Turns out Mata Nui is a giant robot and the matoran universe is inside him
>Makuta kicks Mata Nui's mind out of the robot, in the mask of life, then takes over the universe
>Mata Nui goes to another planet called Bota Magna inhabited by different bionicles
>He becomes a glatorian (gladiator basically) and fights about the planet while trying to find a way back home
>He makes friends with other glatorian and fights evil guys like the Skrall Empire and bandits called Bone Hunters
>In the end he discoveres a prototype giant robot which he inhabits
>Makuta zooms over to Bota Magna and the two fuck huge robots fight
>Mata Nui kills Makuta by pulling Bota Magna's two moons/nearby planets into him
>All the planets merge together into their original form, Sepherus Magna
>All the matoran and other characters from 2001 - 2008 evacuate the makuta body
>Mata Nui dies/goes into a coma inside the mask of life, leaving all the characters ever to live happily forever after on Sepherus Magna[/spoiler]

There's a bunch of other stuff that happens during and after the above events, which is in the comics, online stories, books, etc.

anyone? help?
>>
>>24089359
well, siense there is no help, i will go with 20 levels per skill (so 60 levels per element). every 4 level in a skill you get to chose an ability, beside levels 18-20, when it is every level, but only matoran of that element can take them.
let's start with melee. ok /tg/, get shit done. i want ideas for abilitys for melee
>>
>>24089558
we can all agree that you need a least 1 to fight with weapons, right?
level 4: weapon specialization (you choose one kind of weapon, and use it with +1 to melee) or charge attack (you can charge and attack with +2 to melee, but then you get -2 to blocking)

Might aswell give a quick update on the wargame. Ranged attacks will work the same way as melee, but the first roll is skill vs speed. Additionally some ranged attacks will be limited by the bionicle's amount of ammo.

Movement speed is the bionicles speed score in centimeters.
>>
>>24090378
>Movement speed is the bionicles speed score in centimeters.
then you will need a lot of room to play, you know
>>
>>24090414
Bionicles are pretty large, I'd imagine that would be the case, although you're right, I may be better off halving it.
>>
That the people in bionicle eat? I remember that in mnog some of the girls were fishing the robo-fishes, but there were also the part when one of the ice people gave you something that looks like a battry and said "energy. You will need it" after saving you. So I'm really confused.
>>
>>24090650
I think they absorb energy from food, like rahi meat and fruit, or they can just absorb it directly from something like that battery.
>>
>>24089806
level 8: warrior trance: you get increasing bonus to attack and damge-every turn you strike schedule, the bonus increase by 2 (from +0 to +2 to +4...) or iron wall-you cant attack, but you double your weapon bonus to block
>>
>>24091078
>strike schedule
strike successfully, damnit
>>
>>24091078
Level 12: disarm: you can, instead of making a normal attack, disarm your enemy. You roll to attack with half of you normal melee skill, and if you hit, the enemy lose his weapon (and take normal damage) or bull charge: you make a powerful charge toward your enemys. Every enemy that is in your way get hit by your weapon, and is knocked back if your streangth roll beat his. Enemys that can't move get crashed, and suffer extra attack.

How should the HP work /tg/? I thought that all characters start with the same amout, and some abilities will increase HP, but that may leave a high level character with very low HP.
>>
There are a lot less people here than there was on the last thread. Oh well. Tomorrow I will continue the melee skill.
>>
>>24092317
Type it all up into a doc/wiki and post it as you update for easy proofreading. Plus it'll make a solid copy of your ideas rather than them floating around, it'll be a good idea if you want shi/tg/etting done

Having seen all the Bionicle movies, I can safely say they all sucked, but were enjoyable for certain things.
Except what they did to Jala. I can't believe they made the Captain of the Ta-Koro guard into such a wuss.
Fucker tried to take on a Bohrok-Kal on his own! Unless I remember that wrong....
>>
>>24095281
Yes he did. The little guy even took his karna
>>
>>24095375
Fought and won? Sheesh, that just makes him more cool.
It also makes his later characterization utterly baffling. Jala knows how to fight, he's taken on things several times his size and much much more powerful than he, including Tahu before Jala even knew who Tahu was, and suddenly he's unsure of himself and doesn't know if he'll be a good leader?
What are you trying to pull, Lego?
>>
>>24095452
>>24095452
They got the whole chronolicer group wrong. The chronolicer and takanuva are completely different people, Hali and her toa character are not the same. And jala is... Just like you said
>>
>>24095834
Yeah, shit gets weak after a while.
Like how the toa nuva get beaten by what are essentially six thugs. I KNOW they all have super-duper powers, but the toa nuva have taken on The Makuta, the bohrok, lots of wild animals, the queens, the kal, and the rahkshi. And they get beaten by fucking thugs!
Even worse; due to the way nuva mask powers work, each toa is super fast, super strong, shielded, capable of flight, and whatever other neat tricks they've picked up!

>>24096428
Yeah, but the canon at/after the Mask of Light thing takes a sharp downturn.
I'll take my show about tiki robots if it's all the same.
And Kapura absolutely HAS to be one of the main characters. Fucking Kapura knows how to move fast by going very slow, that's fucking magic. And Vakama taught him! You know what, fuck it, the entire Chronicler's company has to be the main cast.
Rolling across Mata Nui, solving mysteries. Maybe some other islands that are uninhabited/have more tiki robots.

Bionicle started as being about tiki robots. I know that Lego had the storyline all plotted out for years and that Mata Nui was always a giant robot, but I really liked the mystic aspect of the early years.
And if Mata Nui absolutely HAS to be a giant robot, fine. He's robo tiki god, so him being a giant robot can work, but once we learn about him the setting becomes scifi.
To quote a webcomic: "You got your shitty scifi in my fantasy rpg!"

>just realized that I forgot to finish my thought
>derpaherp
Okay, so Mata Nui can still be a giant robot, but let's not have him the size of a continent. A few hundred feet tall with mystical god elemental powers would work.
No Metru Nui, no MATA NUI IS DYING plot, no Bara Magna.
Tiki robots and toa go on a quest to wake up god, which is the central plot ANYWAY, but instead they venture across the world instead of into Mata Nui's nose.
Along the way they can meet other tribes of tiki robots, some other toa probably and various enemies (maybe throw in the piraka and the dark hunters and stuff, run across The Makuta again and again because "you cannot destroy me because I am Nothing").
TL:DR: No sudden genre shift from fantasy with robots to uninspired scifi.
>>
>>24096657
Not the guy you responded to, but if I had control over the storyline, I'd keep the tiki theme way stronger throughout the whole thing rather than have it slowly phase into sci-fi. Like, still have some of the sci-fi stuff, but keep a tiki aesthetic: Metru Nui would still be a big advanced city, but areas should keep elemental themes like the wahis (Le-Metru resembles a jungle with wires and stuff in it, rather than just green metal, Ta-Metru resembles a volcano converted into a forge rather than just red metal, etc.)

Toa Nuva should look more like Toa Mata fully pimped out tribal warrior mode, rather than just having some armour and ugly masks

2003 ends with an actual fight instead of THAT FUCKING KOHLII MATCH

2004 and 2005 stay as is but with a stronger tiki theme (see first paragraph)

Matoran, turaga and toa of Mata Nui don't migrate back to Metru Nui and opt to stay on Mata Nui

Only Metru Nui is underground: the rest of the Matoran Universe is on the same ocean planet as the Mata Nui island

In the 2006 storyline, the Piraka don't beat up the Toa Nuva. Instead, the Toa Nuva get all the way to the Chamber of the Mask of Life, and get beaten up by the guardians of that rather than random thugs

2007 was pretty pimping so that stays pretty much the same. Again, needs more tiki tiki; boats, submarines and the other stuff look very cobbled together, similar to the tech in 2001 - 2003

cont
>>
>>24097100
2008 needs more tiki. Have the assorted makuta just be servants and allies of THE Makuta, rather than Makuta themselves (have this applied to all the other Makuta in the storyline too). Toa Nuva Phantoka/Mistika need to be more tiki

Mata Nui wakes up but is literally a massive spirit/incorporeal bionicle rather than a robot. After waking up, Makuta does the whole body swap thing and kicks Mata Nui in the Mask of Life to a distant desert continent over the sea, rather than to a different planet

Keep 2009 pretty much the same; Bara Magna was pimping, but make the inhabitants more similar to previous bionicles. I.e. just have agori be matoran with a different culture

The storyline ends with two fleets sailing to the Bara Magna continent: Makuta's army and the army of good guys still loyal to Mata Nui. They have a fuckhuge fight, and Mata Nui, using the Mask of Life and some other stuff he's picked up on his journeys, turns himself into a new great spirit and does battle with the Makuta spirit. Mata Nui wins, bionicle culture flourishes as the world enters a new stage of trade and communication between the various islands and continents

There's too many behind the scene events (like the online stories and books) for me to keep track of so just pretend I rewrote those to fit in with my other ideas
>>
>>24097041
I have nothing against fantasy infused sci-fi. But Bionicle handwaved all the magic away with "oh no, it's all programming/glitches/machinery". Vakama having visions? He's a defective AI. The prophetic red star? Just a rocket booster. Mata Nui, the creator god? Fucking giant robot and everyone is simply parts for him.
>>
>>24097120
Actually Vakama having visions was still pretty mystic. His visions were sent back in time, hundreds of years from the future (and a long time after the end of the franchise storyline) by a toa of sonics called Krakua, who guards a flying island like the pimping mother fucker he is (seriously he gets into all sorts of awesome adventures behind the scenes)

The Red Star was still kind of mystical. Like, the wya how the matoran of Mata Nui predicted events by looking at where it went must have been mystical, no way could the Great Beings have predicted all that shit would happen

I'm considering doing some write fagging of the storyline rewrite I posted, pretty much summing up what I posted above but in a bit more detail

Oh, also:
While Metru Nui is the only underground city/island, it's connected to a much larger, underdark-esque subterranean horror world

It's from this not-underdark that the Makuta, bohrok, Visorak and a few other rahi and villains appear

>>
>>24097296
Yeah, it was
In my storyline rewrite, Mata Nui can still be a giant spirit, robot or bionicle, whatever you want, I just didn't like the idea of the universe/matoran archipelagos and islands being *inside* him

So in my storyline rewrite, he's basically just a big guy who walks around in the ocean and keeps an eye on the island rather than having them be his internal organs
>>
>>24097324
i like that.
i still wish some of it would be in space though.
>>
>>24097310
Well rahi is just the local wildlife. They're only evil because of the infected masks, because the infection of masks is like a sickness and can infect you via proximity (like what happened to Huki).
>>
Okay, what would a tiki spaceship look like?
I'm imagining bamboo and lego technic parts, like the boats, maybe a bit of that onu-matoran engineering going on.
But really, I want to see a le-matoran tiki spaceship. It'd be made of leaves, bamboo, and vines.
And it would WORK, by thunder!

Saved. I finished the melee skill tree so here it is (remember that only matoran of the right element can get to levels 18-20 of the skill)
Melee skill tree

level 4: weapon specialization (you choose one kind of weapon, and use it with +1 to melee) or charge attack (you can charge and attack with +2 to melee, but then you get -2 to blocking)

level 8: warrior trance: you get increasing bonus to attack and damge-every turn you strike schedule, the bonus increase by 2 (from +0 to +2 to +4...) or iron wall-you cant attack, but you double your weapon bonus to block

>>
>>24105125
Level 16: eternal warrior: for every hit you make, you are healed by 5 hp. If you have warrior trance, the healing also get the bonus. Or clean cut: once per fight, plus one for ever two levels above 16 ( 2 times in level 18, 3 time in level 20) you can make an unblockable attack. Against this attack, the target armor is 0.5 of its normal value against this attack.
Level 18: inner flame, outer fire: you can use toa only fire weapons now. If you don't use toa weapon, your weapon is now flaming (you also roll your fire vs the target ice/fire when you do damage ) if the weapon is already burning, you roll twice. Or kaboom! : you now deal 1.5 of your melee skill in damage, all your attacks knock back your enemies, and all melee attack damage all enemies that are close to the target (3 feet)
Level 19: undying flame- every one of your attack continue to damage your enemy for 3 extra rounds. The bonus damage still count and the effect stack (so if you hit and do 5 damage +4 fire damage, and in the next turn you do 5 damage + 6 fire, and in the next turn you miss, you damaged him by (5+4)/(10+10)/(10+10). Or strike at their heart: every enemy that see you see their fear- you roll your courage vs the enemy's. if you win, be must flee. You can use this ability for a total of 1+(fire)/10 minutes every day, but you can only turn this on or off once per battle.
Level 20: fire of a toa: you can use toa only fire weapons, and you add then the flaming abilities. If you already have the inner flame, outer fire ability, your weapon (toa or not) gain the "molten" ability- if you hit the target, his normal (without temporary bonuses) armor is lowered to 1/2 of its value until it is fixed. Or meteor path- when you charge, you create pools of lava in your path (they can reach up to 30-40 cm) the pools hit every one that walk in them- friend or foe- with you fire stat, and they get every melee passive ability you have (undying flame, kaboom, eternal warrior, warrior trance...)
>>
>>24105152
Also, some fixes:
Dodge is now (run+jump+awareness)/2
You don't roll for damage (just stats)
If elemental attack do damage, after you beat the enemy roll the damage is (your final score- his final score)/3
Which skill should I do next?

If anyone's still interested in the wargame, I've typed up the basic system and am now working on stuff like powers and unit creation.

>>
>>24106532
Some of my ideas for the basic system were posted in the last thread.
The system is meant to be a small turn-based skirmish game.

Each bionicle has 6 stats: Strength, Agility, Skill, Will, Life and Toughness aswell as powers and abilities chosen at unit creation.

Each turn a bionicle can do two things: move and attack, although instead of attacking a bionicle can use an ability or power (such as their elemental powers or mask powers).

I don't have time to post the combat mechanics, but they're in the previous thread.

I always loved Bionicle because it seemed like the creators were trying hard to make the storyline just as important as the toys

Obviously Lego is a business so the toys were the most important part because biggest money makers, but it seemed like the trailers and media and toy descriptions were always encouraging fans to get involved with the stories and lore

Even the toyline was built on story concepts; Lego made Bionicle because they wanted a true story to call their own, after stuff like the Star Wars lego sold so well

There's other toy franchises where the stories and TV shows are always just trying to get the kids to buy more toys, but Bionicle really did seem like it was trying to interact with its fans and promote the storyline

Greg and the story team even continued to pump out stories and lore after the toyline ended (and I think there still might be one or two stories coming out every few months on bioniclestory.com) because they actually cared about the thought which went into the franchise rather than how much money they would get out of it

2001 - 2010 were awesome years of my life because of Bionicle

before if post the skill tree, little info about the ride skill:
The ride skill is about more than just riding-it’s everything about animals. From calming and taming wild animals, to training war animals and healing injured ones. Every rahi has it own “needed ride” stat , and some rahi are element limited (like the war birds, who are wind only). Only if you have these two you can ride the rahi. When riding, you use the rahi dodge and your block

how DO bionicles reproduce?
>>
>>24109229
They don't. The matoran that exist now are the same ones that built mata nui. It raises questions as to why rahi farmers exist and what sustains the ecosystem if rahi also can't reproduce.
>>
>>24109265
Which only goes to show that having tiki robots with a giant sleeping robo god is much better than THIS IS SCIFI AND ALL MAGIC IS SCIENCE.
>>
>>24109229
They don't. There is a finit number of matorans, and each one got his destiny. When a matorans complete their destiny, they die or become something else (the only examples I have are toas and bohrok)
>>
>>24109265

They really screwed themselves over, when they started explaining the Bionicle universe too much with scifi shit, because the explanations they provided either don't make sense, are ridiculously lame, or just plain retarded.

Personally, when I was younger and not really that much aware of the whole bionicle lore, I imagined that the matoran reproduce by basically making a mask for the new matoran, and then placing it into the suva, where it would be infused with elemental energy of the particular koro, and form a new matoran.

It's kinda silly, but I honestly prefer my own explanation over the "They are all really over 10 000 years old and there is only a finite number of them".
>>
>>24109283
the only things about the whole sci-fi thing i liked were the great beings, two different planets, and mata nui being the actual world. the rest should have been more fantasy infused with science fiction rather than just straight up science fiction
>>
>>24109342
Kinda make sense, because there are masks makers in matru nui
>>
>>24109342
Which also raises the question of a) why the repeated mindwipes, and b) why are the Turaga considered elders if everyone is the same age.
Also, if magic is just programming and technology, how do you explain that Vakama both knew the trick to moving fast by moving slow and TAUGHT the skill to Kuparu?
>>
>>24109595
Turaga are considered elders due to having been toa.

>>24109342
Matoran and rahi couldn't reproduce before the sci-fi stuff. The issue is rahi predators and rahi farmers exist and there is nothing to replenish the lost animals (unless rahi CAN reproduce, I don't think it's been talked about).
>>
>>24109672

I am not sure if anything relating to any reproduction was addressed during the original saga. Nothing was stated either way, on the subject if the matorans could reproduce.

The rahi however, need to be able to multiply in some way, seeing how the matorans were at least fishing some fish like rahi, and the rahi preyed on each other. If there were a finite number of the rahi around, they would run out.
>>
>>24110065
now we just need to find out what a rahi sexual organ looks like
>/tg/-animal penises
>>
in my matoran rpg, when a rahi dies his energy (it was called promondis or some shit like that) relesed, and his parts leaving each other. when there is too much energy in one place, a new rahi is born. the matoran know who to do the same thing with masks ( i will explian more later)
>>
>>24110380
and on a similer idea, the ride skill tree!
(it only effect rahi, so the METAL BOXORS get nothing)

Ride skill tree:
Level 4: shield and protector- if you or the rahi get damaged, the other one can the the damage instead. Or two strikes, one hit – if both the rahi and the rider hit the same target, the damage is (rider damage+rahi damge)-1.5x enemy armor
Level 8: will of a master: once per day, you can heal your rahi for 10hp. Or grapple: the rahi can grab one enemy with its teef/claws/tail/whatever this is, and let you attack it. A grappled enemy can’t move, and his attack skills (range, melee and unarmed) and block/dodge are 0.5 of his normal stats. The rahi can’t attack while grappling
Level 12:ride like the beast: your rahi can’t get tired from long time of running (you still get tired however) or look at the eyes: you can know what any rahi (as long as he isn’t mide-controlled) would do, why he is doing that, and how he will do it (if you see a rama following you, you will know that he want to steal something, because he like shiny items, and that he will wait for you so stop)
>>
>>24110418
Level 16: one and only: you and your rahi are now one. As long as you riding, you can use your or your rahi stat for the following: armor, strength, awareness, sneak, swim, and run for both of you. Or true nature- you can break any mental effect on a rahi. To break the effect, you roll your faith vs the effect score. Even if you fail, the rahi get to retry his roll.
Level 18: ride with the wind: your in-wind can even lift-fly the ground-beasts! And the wind-rahi follow your wind (if you ride a non-flying rahi, he can fly now. If you ride a flying rahi, his speed is now (base speed)*(wind/10) or hit the ground running: if your rahi is attacking from up (jumping/flying) he deals double damage, cause knockback and can move after attacking
Level 19: wind tunnal- you can create and change wind tunnals, that can increase your rahi speed or sucking enemies inside. Or wind blows-every one of your rahi attacks are now range attacks, but he rolls your ride and not his range skill. The attack range is your wind score in feet (or if it was already range attack, the base range+your wind). Also, every attack that hit (even if there was no damge) move the target (wind)/10 feet to any way you want (even up) and deal (your wind) bonus damage
Level 20: beast of the legends- your rahi can now use rahi exo- skeletons, if you can find any. They also gain intelligence, and can speak with you (and only with you, unless someone you the mask of Languages). You can rise 6 stats for them by 4 each. Or part of mata nui- your rahi is immortal now, and can heal himself by absorbing energy from mata nui itself. If he die, he will wake up after 4 hours with 0.1 of his max hp. In battle, he heals himself for 1 hp per round, and 10 for every enemy killed or elemental power used.
>>
>>24110440
I took the freedom to add some new items that weren't in bionicle (like sword and axes for matorans. so, yes, there is a rahi exo skeleton

As I said, I'm gonna rewrite the bionicle fluff, because Lego canon is shit. I will take all the good bits that you guys will post here, and I will also write some bits myself. (The whole "tiki robots" posts are canon, like I said. And hewkii and macku still have feeling for each other)
>>
>>24124867
So here is the first bit of fluff I wrote:
Mata nui circle of life
All of mata nui ecosystem is based around protodermis, the blood/fuel of mata nui. Protodermis can be in 4 forms:
1.solid: made by combining the six elements, it looks like a Semi-transparent rock. It will become liquid after some time if it isn't maintained. Mostly used too make elemental items and masks
Liquid: the most common form. Every living being have little of it inside, and it is released when it dies. It gets absorbed in the ground very quickly, and will stay in it place until the right parts are around, and then it will create a new rahi. If someone eat the rahi instead of letting it fall apart, he absorb the protodermis and not the ground
>>
>>24124887
Crystal: the most used form of protodermis. When there is too much liquid protodermis in one place, the leftovers will, after some time, turn into the crystal form. Since it's easier to use ther solid or liquid forms, it is the most knowen- and seen- form. The most popular example for it is the lightstones, but there are more uses, like making a torch cutter.
Energized: the rarest form, it is a liquid protodermis that have been empowered by unknown beings, and no one know who to make it. He has many uses, like healing all wounds, and mind control even one from antidermis making some creatures stronger, giving elemental powers, and even combing two beings into one.
Matoran can use solid, liquid or crystal protodermis to make new matorans, by putting a mask and the protodermis in the tribe suva. If mata nui and the red star wills it, the mask will make herself a body, and will soon become a normal matoran.
>>
>>24124893
So for my matoran rpg, I will be writing the crunch and some fluff bits, but I still need your help /tg/ to fix the fluff. So now I wat you to write about the red star in the "tiki robots, not si-fi" style.
>>
>>24124941

the description of the ice crafting skill:
Ice crafting
Ice crafting is the art of making tools and building structures with ice or snow. ice craft is the fastest form of crafting, but the creations are very fragile, and will break after one or two hits. It is the only crafting skill that can be used in combat from level 1, and it take 2 turn too create the tool.

I can draw that later today, as right now, I am kinda busy.
>>
I'll try to have a playable wargame posted by the end of the week. At the moment most of what I have is in note form, but it works.

Any hints?

I am really annoyed how I never managed to get any of the original matorans, besides Nuparu.
Because honestly, the matoran were my favorite characters. I even preferred them over the Toa.

i never got any of the first matorans (i only got the one of metru nui). you are lucky

I am so sad that this game was cancelled.

>>
>>24130582
who's that guy on the right?
>>
>>24130595
One of the dudes from Voya Nui.
Unmemorable to me since I never read the books past Metru Nui.
>>
>>24125495

Wouldn't it make kinda more sense if the rahi of each species, kinda just constructed more of themselves, using the resources they have at their disposal.
Basically, kinda treating them like von neuman machines?
Would make the animal like behavior of the Rahi make even more sense, in my opinion.

Also, I am not sure, but I seem to recall that in the second movie, there was a smaller Kikanalo rahi depicted in their herd, which could have been a "baby". Again, I am not sure, but I have always liked the idea of the Rahi, and basically all being of the Bionicle universe, being biomechanical beings, which live, and behave like basically life. Eat, reproduce and die. A whole ecosystem based on these mechanical beings.

And the rahi for sure do eat each other. I remember reading about that in many of the descriptions of the various rahi.
>>
>>24130751
i like the idea of all bionicles reproducing normally(sexually).
speaking of that, there is actually a fully biological being in the bionicle universe, which is supposed to be a reference to cthulhu.
also, isnt there a matoran hell/place of torment?
>>
>>24130994
We don't like to talk about it.
>>
>>24131005
i think it was an island where lazy matoran go to learn how to work hard or something
rather harsh for a children's toy, dont you think?
>>
>>24130994

It wouldn't really even need to be sexual reproduction, well not at least in the way animals and humans do. A bunch of rahi of the same "species" could just collectively constructing a new one, by gathering and making new parts, and then infusing the new one withe a portion of their own life force or something.
>>
>>24131031
Actually it was where broken matoran were sent, except the guy running it couldn't fix a loose screw.
Which necessitates the question: if he can't fix ANYTHING, THEN WHY DID YOU PUT HIM IN CHARGE OF THE REPAIR SHOP!?
Like I said, we don't like to talk about it.
>>
>>24131132

>Which necessitates the question: if he can't fix ANYTHING, THEN WHY DID YOU PUT HIM IN CHARGE OF THE REPAIR SHOP!?

GREAT BEINGS!
NO SENSE OF RIGHT OR WRONG!
>>
>>24130751
I know that they eat each other. I even said that in my mata nui circle of life fluffy bit.
I did considered that the rahi will reproduce like you said, but I couldn't decide. But now that you said that, I think there is an a best of the two: they do reproduce, by collecting the right pices, and then the pices will come to life like I said. The pices in my matoran rpg can change if you eat one big + stick, it may come out as two small + sticks. And it a rahi eat one of these sticks, he's bones my become bigger instead of it coming out.

There's a reason he's not built the same way as the other matoran. Still, he got those awesome swords as compensation.
>>
>>24130994
The pit. An undersea place filled with mutants and monsters.
A religious hell? Not as far as I remember.
The only fully biological being I can remember are the krana

would tren krom be a cool NPC or possibly a minor BEG?
i
>>

Because I know I would.

>mata nui circle of life
Vakama: Look, Tahu. Everything the light touches is our kingdom.
Tahu: Wow.
Vakama: A turaga's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, Tahu, the sun will set on my time here and will rise with you as the new turaga.
Tahu: And this will all be mine?
Vakama: Everything
Tahu: Everything the light touches.... what about that shadowy place over there?
>>
>>24131233
The Pit is the prison, but that place beginning with "K" is the more traditional hell.
And it's hell because the ruler was supposed to FIX people, but he can only mash things together and then hide them away to pretend he's competent.
That's why no one who goes there ever comes back.
I'm still mad at that, WHY did the writers have hell as a repair shop with an incompetent mechanic?
>>
>>24131193
That's like saying "Oh man, we had to chop your dick off, but here's a free lollipop as compensation."
You're still going to miss what you used to have.

Although, I should point out that it turned out that matoran's teammate was a great being, who murdered the repair guy (the repair guy was called Karzahni).

More crunchy bits:

Ice crafting skill tree:

Level 4 : deep chill: your ice crafts can resist heat for longer. You add your ice stat to the time it will take it too melt. It also give your crafts some resistant to fire damage (ice/10). or breaking the ice: you can destroy the ice as fast as you can build it. You deal 1.5 damge to ice creations, and can try to break any ice tools instead of attacking.

Level 8: reuse and reload: when making ice traps or any other ice mechanism, you can make that he wont break after the first use and will only be needed to be reloaded (its still very fragile). Or hollowed ice: ice items don’t lower your running, jumping and sneak skills

Level 12: ice edge: the ice cold is your weapon. When hitting with an ice weapon (an elemental weapon or one made from ice) you add your (ice)/10 to the damage. Or glacier- when building structures in a cold place, the building slowly become harder. Every week a building is still undamged, the max hp is rised by 5. You still have to fix any damage
>>
>>24131559
Level 16: snowall- by using snow instead of ice, you can create buildings and traps during the battle. Or shattering ice: the ice weakness is his weakness, but now also his strength. When an ice item is destroyed, he damage the attacker (if it is an armor) the target (if its a weapon) or everyone nearby (if its a building) by your ice craft skill/2

Level 18: fast freeze- the ice and snow are your to shape as you will. You can now make items during combat (also buildings if you have snow wall) without losing turns, but can make only one per turn. Or ice call- even in the hottest places in mata nui, there is still ice. And you can use this ice. You can now use ice craft (weapons and armor only) without any need for ice or snow to craft. The craft will still melt, however.
Level 19: arctic winds: even the other elements can be used for your craft. You now can fix buildings (or even build small ones) without needing to be nearby them. You can't make tools or traps. Or ice as stone- when making ice tools, they now can be used (ice)/6 time instead.
Level 20: ice blast: when an ice building is destroyed, he blast everyone nearby with frost, freezing them for 3 rounds if your ice roll beat their ice/fire roll. If an weapon is destroyed, the frost only slows then to 0.5 of their speed. Or exo-ice: if you have the right skills for it (or someone else that has them), you can create exo-armor like the boxors.

No, that was Axonn, the bestest beastest mother fucker in the Matoran Universe. He will fuck you up, down, side ways, diagonally and in several directions which only exist in the fifth and fourth dimensions.

The great being was the po-matoran of the 2006 storyline, Velika (pic related). A great being hid himself inside a matoran in order to observe the Matoran Universe, but ended up getting damaged, so he was sent off too Karzahni to get repaired. Karzahni, as always, did a shitty job.

After Mata Nui killed Makuta for good and everyone left the Matoran Universe, the great being left Velika and has apparently started a killing spree of all the god-like beings of the Matoran Universe; he has already killed Karzahni and Tren Krom.
>>
>>24133368
Even if you don't like the sci fi stuff, you've gotta love the idea of the terrible repair man running hell, and the god who decides, after hiding in a matoran for thousands of years, to go on a god killing spree.

>It had succeeded until the robot violently exploded, causing its separated body parts to fly across the planet.

>Construction of a new robot began soon after.

>>24134122

>>24134281

>>
>>24134281
Or... anything ELSE the supposed "Great Beings" did.
Like the incompetent repairman, or the Makuta, the Mask of Life, destroying their home planet because of their stupidity, making the revival system for Mata Nui in such a way that someone can usurp the body.... etc etc etc
>>
>>24134328
>>24134301
People can still fuck up worse than the great beings, though. From the first and ONLY male toa of psionics:
>"I was the first Psionics Toa, and one of the first Toa ever created. But I was, let’s say, a little too...aggressive in using my powers. I had a temper then. A short fuse plus psionics leads to bad things...sometimes very bad things. [...] After that, someone decided that maybe a gentler touch was needed for Psionics...so all the subsequent Psionics types were made female."
>>
>>24134328
the great beings didnt do things to make sense, they did them because they wanted to
i bet they're off in some other fictional universe fucking everything up
>>
>>24134356
>giving untested mental powers to a hotheaded person

>>
>>24134402

>>24134402
I have made up my mind!
The Great Beings went into WoD and became the Antideluvians, where their hilarious incompotence got them cursed with strange and wondrous powers which they use to do absolutely nothing useful.
>>
>>24134328
Well they didn't set out to make makuta evil. Makuta were supposed to make rahi (so do the great beings' job for them) and they did. For a while.

>>24134388
He managed to fuck up bad enough that every Ce-matoran and toa was made female. It must have been his fault at least a little.
>>
>>24134514
Yes it was his fault because he used them in that way, but it is ALSO the fault of the person who gave him the gun, yes?
And it's not like the Great Beings have the greatest track record.
Besides, it's funnier to blame everything on the Great Beings. EVERYTHING.
Including the burst pipe that blocked the lightstone mine.
