Welcome to Millicent Fauxly Quest.

>Before Millicent arrived at Hogwarts she was a prized daughter in a pureblood wizarding family. She has little knowledge of the muggle world and doesn’t show any fascination for it.
>Hogwarts has changed Millicent in ways she didn’t expect. She thought she was going to be a Slytherin like her bitter rival (who has become a friend) and older sister, Maud. Instead she was placed in Ravenclaw house, something which has disgraced Millicent and her family in their pureblood social circles.
>The best easiest way to roleplay Millicent is ‘Raven’ from Teen Titans, this was purely by the actions of those in the quest (and a happy one at that).
>Millicent likes to be left alone to her own devices, she has a competitive streak but also a yearning for the contact and approval of others despite what she may tell herself. She likes to be centre of attention when she has earned it through being the best at something, not out of fame or through an embarrassing incident.

Major Character Traits:
>Millicent seeks approval from her father above most things
>She has a fear of large bodies of water
>She is best friends and can tell Olivia anything

New comers are more than welcome. Previous threads can be found here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=millicent+faux

You turn and shrug to the others as no real idea comes to mind as to what to do.

”We could go speak to Robert” says Olivia “Though I would rather not”

Joel hums in agreement as he mulls over what’s best to do. Nigel on the other hand seems to have wandered off down the hall.

“Nigel?” you say, wandering down to see what he’s up to. He’s standing in front of a portrait.

“Hello” he says pleasantly to an old man slumped in a chair in the portrait. “I was wondering if you could help me.”

The old man scratches his bald head and leans forward, the hairs of his beard fluffing with every word he speaks in a low huff.

“And what could a first year possibly need beyond being-in-lessons-when-they’re-supposed-to?”

Nigel doesn’t falter, he replies in earnest.

”We have a matter to speak to the Headmaster about, would you be so kind as to give us the password so we may do so?”

”No”
“Why?”
“He’s not in”
“Where’s he gone?”
“Beats me”

Nigel looks to you for some assistance.

The big reason for going to see him right away was to confirm/deny that he and the flying teacher are one and the same.

Ideas for us to Succeed and not Die:

I think the biggest key to our success is not relying on dice during life or death situations. We do this with preparation.

Magical amulets. See if we can engrave a shield spell on an amulet. If we have something that will automatically take the hit even if we fail our roll, we'll be much better off.

Weapons. Considering the number of times we've already been attacked, I think it's perfectly sensible to carry a few weapons.
A knife- Simple, effective and likely to catch someone off guard as a weapon of last resort.
Prepared potions- Smoke bomb to cover our escape. An exploding potion so we have an attack that doesn't rely on dice.

Thoughts? Other ideas?

(Sorry for ignoring the dialog input there, had an idea and want to roll with it. See below)

With an amazing spot of luck you realize that the old man hasn’t put his glasses on which sit limply in his hand. He continues to look at you with a dull gaze as if tired of a hard day’s reading, perhaps his reason for not realizing you’re wearing a blue lined robe is because he’s colour-blind…Any doubt of course would be rendered from his mind the moment he puts on his specs, being as Nigel stands next to you with the same coloured robes on.

You notice the old man’s hand ascend as he fidgets to put the glasses on, you have to distract him! Say something! Quick!

We have access to a potions lab. We already have one potion in our inventory that we brewed during class and kept.
In the cannon-verse, Harry and Co were always sneaking away ingredients to brew potions and stuff in secret.

If we go to the library and look for a book on engraving amulets, we might be able to do that ourself.

At the very least, it's worth looking into.

Having a shield charm engraved on an amulet to take the hit what we fail our roll could save our life.

Having a paralyzing potion to throw when our hex roll fails could win the fight.

You thank for the portrait for his assistance as you work up to asking some more questions, it’ll have to wait for another time however as Joel calls you over. You draw your wand and recite the password and, would you know it, the eagle statue raises into a narrow stairwell. The four of you make you way up into the office before the stairwell closes behind you.

Looking around the office you remember the last time you were here speaking with the Headmaster about being sorted into Ravenclaw. You had made the decision to stick with the hat’s choice…though whether you made the right one is still for you to decide.

You decide to search the place for some evidence to support your theory that Bergle being the impostor. The group splits up as everyone heads off in their own direction; you take the flight of stairs and look for something, anything, which might further validate your suspicions. You come across a series of books that line the back wall above a map of the castle. You remove a couple books and look inside. Most are in another language so you can’t even begin to decipher their meanings or what use they might have. As you set a couple aside you notice another book at the back that you might just be able to reach…you stretch your fingers as you dig your hand inside to grab it. You’ve. Almost. Got. It…

The entire bookcase tumbles down and almost crushes you as books rain down and strike the floor. You take a hit to the eyebrow which will definitely leave a bruise if not a cut if you’re not lucky.

The others run over to see if you’re okay. Joel kneels beside you and casts Wingardium Leviosa to set the bookcase back. Nigel and Olivia lift you to your feet and brush you off as Joel sees to packing the books away, one at a time as he reads the covers, just as perplexed as you.

“Stings like a doxie” you say with thinly veiled frustration “Find anything?”

Both Nigel and Olivia give sad little shrugs of defeat as Joel finishes stacking the books, half way through he got tired of doing it by hand and like a true wizard saw to using a spell to do it for him. You turn back to the shelf to find the book you were reaching for…it’s a book on how to tame unicorns…you give an internal scream as you clench your fists.

You hear the sound of ascending footsteps!

At the sound of ascending footsteps you make the decision to take the book in hand, wand in the other, and stand your ground. Is it bravado? Have you simply come to a point where having the potential culprit behind all the trouble you’ve been having walk straight up that stairwell is too much to pass up? You stay where you are as Nigel and Olivia scramble behind a bookshelf.

Joel stands by your side, wand drawn and gives you a nod with a grin whilst giving you a slight nudge.

You wait with bated breath for whoever it is to walk right up those stairs and look you in the eye. You’re shaking and have begun to sweat with anticipation, if only those bloody steps weren’t so damn steep and winding! Joel looks to you and you look back at him…his grin turns to something else as he bows his head and looks to the stairwell.

A tall gaunt figure enters with billowing robes that could only belong to a wizard of high esteem; none other than Headmaster Tooledge. He stops at the entranceway as he gazes idly up at you both with an emotionless expression. You feel time pass excruciatingly slowly as he watches you with sunken eyes.

“Mr. Barish. Miss. Fauxly” he says in a droll voice “Is something the matter?”

You say nothing has doubt enters your mind. This is the only outcome that doesn’t give you an answer; right now you could be in a room with the culprit of all your problems or it could be the real headmaster. Tooledge enters the room in earnest and sits in an armchair facing away from you.

Tooledge sits up and peers round the armchair with one arm supporting him, in the light you feel a twinge in your stomach at the sight of him. You’ve never seen him look so old before.

”Yes?” he says, swallowing audibly with drowsy eyes.

“"Sir, your sister wished us to tell you that her friend has left her." you say, gripping your wand tightly for something, anything to happen. You can feel a pressure building in your head which is only subdued by the knowledge that Tooledge might give the correct answer and that you’re not alone in the room…yet with if you’ve just put your friends in grave danger? What if you’re wrong and Nigel, Joel and Olivia are going to be the real causalities of this situation. Part of you wishes you could take the words back as you look at Tooledge mull over an answer.

He looks at you, then to Joel, and then over to the bookcase where Nigel and Olivia are hid.

”I don’t have a sister” he says, waiting to gauge your reaction.

I honestly believe that curses to the face are the answer. We outnumber him and he does not have his wand drawn

Then zap his shit when he lets his guard down

THIS SITUATION DEMANDS FATE POINT USAGE

>>24155703
If it is him, then he should be able to handle us. If it isn't, then hopefully he can't.
>>
>>24155660
Except it's not first strike at all.
He's gotten a chance to look at us, and Joel, and he already knows where Nigel and Olivia are.
Sure a surprise attack could net us a victory, but he is not surprised.
His weariness is because he is prepared to kill us all if he thinks we saw through him.

No, a Slytherin answer is to sell our friends upriver and see where that gets us.
And we can't beat Joel at his own game.
We can only show Joel that his game is stupid.

this will do we need to get a adult in here or some wizard cops

we also need this thread archived

My conclusion:

1. Pretend he got the right answer
2. Get friends to leave including Joel
3. Act like a true Ravenclaw and good person by getting friends out of trouble whilst also using our smarts to outwit Bergle or whoever it is
4. Leave situation alive and with options

Now we are aware, that this person is not the one that we first met.
We know the enemy.
That this person is not, if he was he would turn us to dust because there is literally no other way for him.
Or is it?

He's playing the dumb.
He's the BBEG, we must evacuate the room, but others first.
If he is the BBEg he will not allow others to leave the room
Why?
Because he can foresee that they konw stuff and if we come back mindfucked or do not come at all, he is screwed.

If they don't get out, we burn shit.We die Standing

This is why we're tactical genius.

We just can't get into a consensus on one idea and instead just fling around our ideas until something so outlandish hits the bullseye and we all agree to take it.

She says.

"okay" you say, handing her other to Tooledge who gently holds her.

"My, my what a lovely doll you have here" says Tooledge "my older sister used to have one quite similar to this"

He hands Elise back to you and pockets his glasses.

"One of the remarkable things about dolls is that they will never leave you" he says. He leans forward, smiling kindly. "Not unless you want them to. The choice is yours"

He asks if there is anything else you wish to speak to him about.

You feel your heart thumping in your chest and your palms sweaty as you feel your grip on the wand tighten. In a state of panic you see yourself, a helpless little first year standing in a room with a potential criminal with the power to end your life. Do you do what Joel seems to imply and fight your way out of the situation? No, you’re better than that, you’re not going to make such a brash move that could put your friends in danger. It is in this moment that you realize just how dear your friends are to you. The thought of losing any of them is unthinkable. It’s simply not an option. You feel a very human fear which is replaced by something else…calm. You’ve never thought more clearly in your life, you can see every potential outcome mapped out before you as if it were a text book before your eyes, another book in the library that will give you the answers you need.

You relax and give a cheerful smile to the headmaster as you take a sigh of relief.

“Do you mind if we speak in private sir?” you say, eyes innocent and non-threatening, giving nothing of your game away.

(part one)
>>
>>24156393
Like it'd be tricky.
We need to make him think both that we don't suspect he's not really the headmaster, and that we don't think Bergle is behind this.
>>
(part two)

>>24156460
The Headmaster looks at you and to the others. You can see the decision forming in his eyes, you know what he’s answer is going to be before he says it.

“Of course, Millicent” he says with a forced smile “Your friends may come out from behind the bookshelf”

Nigel and Olivia wander round with confused expressions as they go with a perplexed Joel to the stairwell, give a backwards glance at you and then disappear as they descend.

You’re alone with him now as he turns back and sits face on in the seat, his back to you.

”Please sit with me” he says as he gestures with a spindly hand towards the chair opposite him. You walk with an ease in your step before sitting before him.

“How is the hunt for the Trident coming along?” he says “Any luck?”

>I’ve discovered its location, sir. I’ll bring it to you in the morning.
>Still no luck, but I’m close, all I need is a little more time.
>No sir, no luck at all.
>Alternative course of action.

we need him to think he needs us or he'll just ask where it is. So we need to tell him about the mannequin so far. We tell him we've almost got it assembled and are just enchanting it. we'll hand it over to Nathaniel and have the location soon
>>
>>24156470
"I'm making progress or at least I think I am, but it's a lot harder than I initially thought.
When Nathaniel said he recruited students in their first year, I thought that meant that it would be relatively easy... but I think there's a reason that there are no records of ghosts using artificial bodies, and it's not due to none of them feeling like it."
>>
>>24156470
>Still no luck, but I’m close, all I need is a little more time.
"The construct is nearly complete, and with the acquisition of a crystal ball, should be ready."
