Previously in Scholomance Quest, a mysterious man representing the Council of Magi payed a visit to our protagonist, Etzli Venkman. Etzli learned that he has some magical ability, and will attend Scholomance, a school for witches and warlocks, in three years.

During his three year wait, Etzli discovered his natural talent for alchemy and managed to learn some basic conjuration. He discovered that incorporating blood into his spells seemed to ease some of the difficulty of performing magic.

At the end of those three years, Etzli drove with his father to a cenote which houses a portal to Scholomance. He jumped into the pit and emerged, drenched, on a mountain road in Romania.

You are Etzli Venkman.

You've just explored your dorms and had a short chat with a man holding a clipboard that has mad you start to rethink this housing arrangement. When you walked back outside a girl wearing a thick, black wool dress looked at you and said,"You should really get something better than pig's blood."

What do?
>>
>>24265287
Forgot to say, it's a wee bit after 9:00pm.

Also, Previous thread if you want it.

>>
>>24265287

Act offended, and request clarification.
>>
Might as well strike up a conversation with the girl in the black wool dress and get a recommendation on which type of blood would be better and where to get it. Get a name while you are at it.
>>
"Excuse me?" you ask with an indignant look on your face.

"Pig's blood. It's worthless for anything beyond simple tricks. If you want some real power, you're going to need something more."

"More? What's that supposed to mean? And who are you, anyway?"

"Sarah, third circle." She motions to the other upperclassmen standing around outside the dorms as she says, " And I'm here doing what the rest of them are doing. Scoping out suitable firsties."

Before you can repeat your question about the blood she cuts you off, "And human, for the most part at least. What else would I mean?"

What next?
>>
>>24265688
"Not to make excuses or anything, but human blood isn't all that easy to come across where I grew up."
>>
>>24265688

" Human? Would that be stolen blood, or sold?"
>>
>>24265828
>>24265895
Sounds good

If she doesn't feel like talking we could just continue on to our room.
>>
"Human", you repeat. She nods as you say it, like it's incredibly obvious. After a brief pause you ask, "Like, stolen blood? Or sold? I mean, not to make excuses or anything, but human blood isn't exactly easy to come accross where I'm from."

"Did you grow up in some tiny village?", she asks.

"Well, no. Mexico city actually."

"Then it was all around you. You just had to reach out and take it."

As you contemplate what she's just said she speaks up again and asks, "Are you familiar with the Aztecs? I should think you are, what with practicing blood magic and being from Mexico."

What do?
>>
>>24266180
"Yes. Thats where I got the inspiration to start using blood in the first place."

>That's the backstory we agrred on, right?
>>
>>24266180
Am I familiar with the Aztecs? They are the very inspiration for my use of magic. So yes, I know of them. Why?
>>
>>24266268
After the visit from the man in the top hat you spent three years studying magic.

You found that whenever you managed to incorporate blood into a spell, it made things easier. Shortly after the discovery you took up some Aztec style worship, minus the human sacrifice.

Also, people said Etzli has Nazi heritage because the last name Venkman sounds German.
>>
>>24266348
>Aztec blood magic
combined with
>Nazi heritage

Well this is going to be interesting
>>
>>24266348
*cough* Worst backstory ever *cough*
>>
>>24266422
No, we're perfect. Our Nazi and Aztec heritage will allow us to sacrifice jews for amplified spellcasting, we'll be following in the steps of our leader, the fuhrer!
>>
>>24266348
I didn't really like the whole Nazi scientist stuff people wished to go for last thread, but if we end up as blood magic Dr. Doom I don't care.
>>
"Of course I'm familiar with them. They inspired me to start using blood in my magic, so why do you need to know?"

"Fantastic! I knew you would make a good recruit."

"Recruit?"

"For our prestige society. It seems like you don't know, so let me explain a little bit. There are dozens of different societies, each of them specializing in something. I'm with Tlamictiliztli. We focus on blood magic and making contracts with the Gods through sacrifice. We teach you things you won't learn in the regular classes."

"And what would joining entail?"

"You would have to come with me to the sanctum. You would also have to complete a ceremony to become a full member. After that, you can participate in society activities and have full use of the sanctum."

What do?
>>
>>24266521
>Google Tlamictiliztli
>Name literally means human sacrifice.
>Dat edge
>>
>>24266521
That sounds cool, is there anything else I should know about it?
>>
>>24266521
>>24266630
Yes, like are there any rules in the prestige society we should know about before "joining".
>>24266482
It's just a side note in our background really. We may or may not play around with it.
>>
>>24266521
And what would this ceremony entail?
>>
>>24266521
Express interest and try to fish for information about the other societies. I mean we could join and go all Aztec blood ritual, but what if there are other societies that dabble in blood magic?
>>
"That sounds really cool. Is there anything else I should know, though?"

"Aside from the obvious 'no revealing society secrets to outsiders'? Not really much else. You need to have some basic ability in conjuration to complete a ceremony, and you'll want to do that fairly soon after your first trip to the sanctum. I mean, you can wait, but you'll only be limiting yourself."

"And what exactly would this ceremony entail?"

"We're a society based around Aztec blood magic and contracting with the Gods. I think you can figure out the general idea. If you want specific details, you're going to have to wait until your first visit. So, are you interested in joining?"

What do?
>>
>>24267026

As a Nazi Aztec, we have no moral grounds to refuse.
>>
>>24267026
"Of course."
>>
>>24267026
This is>>24266990 basically my answer. We will no doubt join anyway, but it's nice to know a little about the other societies.
>>
>>24267026
>>24267109
Yeah, we should probably look into other blood magic societies first, we mgiht appear stupid to her if wee just join in.
>>
>>24267109
>>24267143
We play hard to get.
>>
> people complain about bfq shitting up the scholomance settings

>Not being an Incan Nazi or Mayan Nazi
>>
"Tlamictiliztli sounds like a perfect fit, but, and I don't mean to be rude, I don't think it's wise to jump on the first society I see. I don't even know anything about the others. I mean, are there any more that specialize in blood magic?"

"Let me get this straight. You get invited to join an order that not only specializes in blood magic, but also contracts with the Aztec Gods, whom you claim to venerate, and your first response is to ask about which other societies would be a good fit."

The air is tense for a few moments before she says, "Fine. If you really want to know some other societies you can waste your talent in, I'll tell you. Just off the top of my head, Leviathan has a thing for summoning giant monsters; those could provide you with lots of raw material. The Lotus knows how to do living alchemy, I suppose even you can see how blood magic could be useful there. And there should be a few more with tangential benefits for having an affinity to blood magic."

What do?
>>
>>24267619
It's what everyone wanted. Well, except that guy that wanted to be a ghostbuster.
>>
>>24267713
"Alright, I'll join"
>>
>>24267713
"I'm not trying to be a dick about it, but I just got told that sometimes booby traps are set up in the dorm rooms to kill people just as they're getting here. Excuse me for trying to be careful."
>>
>>24267786
this
>>
>>24267713
Use this >>24267786

Might as well join up I guess. Though Leviathan? Sounds kick ass and no doubt there is a cthulhu society around here if we look hard enough, but I have a feeling Tlamictiliztli will be interesting.
>>
>>24267786
This
>>
>>24267880
I like the sound of Leviathan as well.

There's nothing against joining multiple societies is there?
>>
>>24267985
Yes, yes there is.
>>
"I'm not trying to be a dick about it, but I just got told that sometimes booby traps are set up in the dorm rooms to kill people just as they're getting here. Excuse me for trying to be careful."

"And you should be careful, but I'm recruiting for Tlamictiliztli, not for the competition."

"So, is there a rule against joining multiple societies?"

"If any allow it, I don't know them. So are you going to join?"
>>
>>24267985
Then lets join up with Tlamictiliztli, we can learn the secrets of Leviathan by capturing one of them later.
>>
>>24268089
Yes.
>>
>>24268089
"Yes, you certainly sound like the most appropriate group for me."
>>
>>24268179
Also, ask how she knew we had pig blood with us.
>>
>>24268192
she can sense blood, obviously <_< >_>
>>
>>24268217
Obviously, yes, but it's still something we would want to find out about in character.
>>
>>24268217
>"Then it was all around you. You just had to reach out and take it."
Yeah.
>>
>>24268089
ho could I refuse such a charmer, also how did you know I had pigs blood on me?
>>
"How could I possibly refuse", you say.

"Splendid! I don't think I caught your name, though. Do you have a phone?" she asks as she pulls a cell out of her pocket.

"Yeah, I do" you tell her as you reach into your pockets. But you don't find it. "Oh. I must have left it with my bags."

"That's fine" she says as she grabs a takes out a small notebook. She tears out a sheet, writes her number, and hands it to you. "Don't lose it."

You quickly tell her your number and then ask, "So how did you know I was carrying pig blood, anyway?"

"Like I said, contracts with Gods. Gods that hunger for blood. They tend to bestow gifts that help them achieve their own ends. Some time towards the end of this week I'll come get you after your classes. If you want to acquire a sacrifice before then, you can, but you'll have to keep it alive until the ceremony."

It should be around 9:30 - 9:40 ish by now, although it feels like it's only 1:30 - 1:40 ish to you because of the instantaneous cenote portal travel.

What do?
>>
>>24268511
I find it concerning that nobody's said anything about food. If clipboard guy is still in there we should ask him if there's a cafeteria around.
>>
>>24268511
>this week
Should say the first week of classes.
>>
>>24268511
Investigate our dorm room, being particularly cautions for traps.
Make sure to keep anything important on us at all times.
>>
>>24268511
study hard go back to the room we can look for a place to set up a sanctum tommrrow
>>
>>24268511
If we won't feel tired for another 8-10 hours we might as well just stay up until the next night. Best way I've found to quickly reset your internal clock.

But save scouting around till "day" at least.
>>
You say bye to Sarah and head back into the dorms. Suddenly, it dawns on you that you have no idea what to do about food. You decide that you should probably ask that guy with the clipboard, so you walk around until you find him.

After a couple minutes of walking around in the halls, you find him looking intently at a door hinge. He quickly notices you and says, "Oh, it's you again. Did you need something?"

"Yeah. I just realized that I have no idea where to get food around here."

"Remember the main plaza where most of the classes are? There's a cafeteria near there. You can go into the kitchen and make your own food if you want, but most students don't really utilize it past the first couple weeks."

"More booby traps?"

"Poisoning, actually. It really doesn't happen that often, but people tend to avoid places where poisoning occurs. No matter how rare."

"Great" you think to yourself, although you aren't that surprised after having heard about the possibility of traps in the dorms.

You decide to go back to your room, carefully twisting the knob and jumping back like you expect an explosion. You hear no explosion. Instead, you hear the young man sitting on the other bed say, "Hallo. I'm Finn."

It appears that he's left your bags untouched. He's going through his own possessions.

What do?
>>
>>24269031
say hi, ask about his accent but in a polite way
>>
>>24269031
shake his hand and give him our name (what he look like)
>>
Might as well double check our stuff and get our phone while we are at it.
>>
>>24269031
Standard greeting to our temporary roommate.
Maybe ask where he is from.
>>
You walk up to him and say, "Hello. I'm Etzli Fenkman. Where are you from?" as you offer a handshake.

"I'm from Germany", he tells you in a thick German accent."

"Oh, cool. I'm from Mexico myself, but I think my grandfather was from Germany."

On hearing that, Finn gives a small smile and nods.

What do?

I swear this guy was planned out as German before all the Nazi stuff.
>>
>>24269460
ask if he has any idea what society he'll be joining
>>
>>24269460
ask about what he expects form class and the school exct.. what he is good at
>>
>>24269521
>>24269566
these should do quite nicely
>>
"So did you have any idea what society you were going to join?"

"One that specializes in sorcery. Or maybe enchantment. I'm better at sorcery, though, but none of them seemed like a good fit. I think I'll wait a little while to decide."

"What didn't seem right about them?"

"I'm good at manipulating sound. Most of the groups I saw focused on the elements. I'll see if I can find something better first."

"That makes sense, I guess. I've got one picked out already. They're a perfect match."

He nods again and tells you that he would like to go to sleep. You don't think he knows what your society does.

What do?
>>
>>24269869
>You don't think he knows what your society does.
Pretend that isn't there. That shouldn't be there.
>>
I wonder if our society i hated by others
>>
>>24269881
wait, did we tell him we're in Tlamictiliztli or something?
>>
>>24269911
You didn't. I almost had you do it, but decided that would be a dickish thing to do. He doesn't know which one you joined.
>>
>>24269869
sleep too set an early alarm and go exploring the school tomorrow.
>>
>>24269940
Yeah might as well start exploring/planning a new home base if the dorms are too dangerous. We might want to study some magic before we explore too much though. If the dorms are this dangerous then imagine what's outside is like.
>>
>>24269869
Sleep and get rested for another day.
>>
You decide to lay down and try to sleep. You take out your phone and set an alarm for 7:00am.

It takes a few hours to get to sleep on account of it feeling eight hours earlier than it actually is. You don't actually manage to get anything resembling sleep until nearly 3:00 am.

When your alarm goes off four hours later it's unpleasant, but you don't feel too tired. You haven't eaten anything since breakfast the previous day.

What do?
>>
>>24270165
go to the kitchens, make some food and pack a lunch then explore see if Finn wants to come along.
>>
>>24270196
Sounds like a plan.
>>
>>24266456
>sacrifice jews
But she just said human blood works better than pig.
>>
>>24270461
rat/pig and good point looks like strong German blood we need like our roommate.
>>
You sit up and turn off your alarm. You walk over to the sink and wash your face. Finn's already awake, and he's flipping through a textbook. It seems to be the same introductory magic book you were given.

He says good morning to you, and you ask him if he's like to go get something to eat and do some exploring.

"Sure", he answers. "I haven't had anything since yesterday."

You throw on some clothes and grab a bottle of blood. He gets dressed as well and then pockets a small, brass whistle.

Both of you make your way to the kitchen area. There's a pretty large selection of ingredients for use, and a dozen or so 'chefs' sleepily shambling about, putting basic meals together.

What do you make?
>>
>>24270603
Ask one of the chefs to make you a breakfast burrito. Look around and scout out any other cliques that you may notice, and deduce what you can from them.
>>
>>24270603
>'chefs
Are they even people?
>>
>>24270603
tamales, for lunch and a big egg omelet for breakfast.
>>
You walk up to one of the 'chefs' and ask it to make you some tamales, wrapped up in a bag, and an omelet. He just sort of groans at you and limps off. You notice that something seems very inhuman about them.

For a moment, you think he he isn't even going to fulfill your request, but then he drags himself over to a refrigerator and gets out some eggs to start making the omelet.

After a few minutes, he presents you with your meal and goes back to his previous activities. You walk out to the cafeteria area and find Finn eating a plate of sausage. He seems excited to explore.

I think I'm done for tonight. I'm going to go ahead and archive this thread.

Won't have a thread tomorrow, next one will probably be Weds and 17:00 server time.
