Hello and Welcome to Millicent Fauxly Quest.
>For Updates on the Quest: @PesterHouseElf
>Previous threads can be found here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=millicent+faux
Millicent Fauxly is am intelligent and good willed first year Hogwarts student. Housed in Ravenclaw and from a noble Pureblood family Millicent has a good understanding of the wizarding world, yet struggles with terms such as ‘mudblood’ and seeing house elfs as anything more than servants.

request: can artfags work on a Millicent Fauxly wallpaper? Can be anything you like I'm using pic related as one right now.

I believe we left off last time trying to tell Maud to run while grabbing the Trident and trying to escape the golems.
>>
I like Millicent threads but are there any better examples of fanart?

(is everyone okay with this tight formatting?)

“Surely there is something we can do?” you say, beginning to cry, holding your sister tight.
Maud holds you tight then looks up at Dad who still looks idly into the window, an oblivious memory unknowing of what’s really going on.
“I know I dissapointed you” she says “I wanted us to be together, to stay in the leaky cauldron, but I couldn’t see past my hate. I love you”
“I love you” you say, as the world brightens all around you, sound fading, your embrace becoming soft.
“Be careful” she says “I might not be the same”
The world fades. The cavern comes crashing back to reality. The golemn ahead of you, the Trident limp on the floor, water rising. You turn to Maud who looks around with a confused expression as if she had just woken up from a deep sleep.

1)Run Maud!
2)Run!
3)Fend of the Golemn
4)Take Trident or leave it
>>
Goals (incomplete):
Get out of this cavern and back to safety with everyone alive and not losing the Trident
Break Professor Trib's curse
Help our sister however we can
Make sure the world knows what a colossal asshole Salazar Slytherin was
>>
Okay I'm finally up to date from skim reading (gonna do a more in depth read through later). I'm in. Let's do this.

>(is everyone okay with this tight formatting?)

Same as last thread. Grab trident because it holds Maud's memories, then get out of there as fast as we can.

1)Run Maud!
2)Run!
4)Take Trident or leave it

If we can shoot the golem while running, I'd be okay with that too.

>>
>>24346198
"BOOK IT!"
Maud might not even know her name, we don't know the exact damage the trident did. If she doesn't respond to that, just grab her and pull her out of the cave, trident in tow.
>>
“Run!” you shout as you wrangle out of your robe and throw it on the ground using it to scoop up the Trident. Maud, in a daze, turns and runs into the tunnel.

Wasting no time you bolt after her and descend into the darkness which envelopes you. Behind you the Giant Golemn roars as the smaller ones shoot inside and claw for you.

You run as fast as your feet can carry you as the smaller golemns struggle to keep up as they bounce and knock against one another. The light at the end of the tunnel comes into sight and you make a break for it, you care hear the giant golemn battering the smaller ones out of the way as your run out into the light.

It’s midday now as you, Maud and Nathaniel flee from the tunnel and back away to the denser trees of the forest.

The giant golemn clambers out of the tunnel, it’s features turning to stone as it reaches for you. It isn’t happening fast enough however as it continues to claw it’s way out of the earth, his chest and waist already through.

You continue running through the forest back towards the castle with your sister, Nathaniel and Charles who is way, way ahead of you after a decent head start.

“LUMOS!” you shout as a beam of blinding light shoots from your wand at the Giant Golemn.

It gives a squeal of pain as it frees itself out of the tunnel and bounding for you. Your beam of light causes the right side of it’s body to harden to stone completely until...the outer shell breaks to reveal more of the golemn’s flesh, smaller yet still very much alive. Like a Matryoshka doll a smaller golemn the size of a troll breaks out of it’s outer shell and continues after you.

You keep running as fast as your feet can carry you until you arrive at the edge of the forest to the grounds of the castle.

Ahead you see Olivia, Robert, Nigel and Joel standing there with Charles.

>>
“Cast Lumos for all that is” you take half a second to catch your breath “HOLY”

The others give a look of confusion before seeing the rampaging statue wildy swiping it’s way toward you all.

You reach your friends, turn on your heels and together you all shout “LUMOS MAXIMA!”

A resounding beam of bright pure light erupts from the wands of your friends, and Charles and even Maud.

The Golemn continues to approach, each step sluggish as with every moment it cracks from it’s outer shell again and again, becoming smaller and smaller until it stops at your feet the size of one of the babys, turning finally into an immovable statute.

You take a deep sigh of relief.

“Well that was exciting wasn’t it?” says Nigel cheerfully.
“Bloody exciting” says Joel, clapping him on the shoulder.
“Why was it attacking us again?” says Maud

You look to your sister and grab her by the hand to find her looking down at you with a pleasant smile. There is little comprehension between her eyes, you could be a stranger to her. A memory stirs of your great aunt Gramilda who suffered from alzehiemers disease, remembering the way she would pretend to know who people were to avoid looking like a fool.

“Do you remember me?” you ask with slow drawn out words as the answer already seems so apparent.

>Just the Trident and the Golem
We shall tell her about the betrayal in private, when she's got her mental legs back under her.
But it IS important that we say how much of a dickbag Salazar was for creating the Trident, which is essentially a date-rape/memory-eraser artifact in one.
>>
>>24348058
We can be upfront later, telling her that she's basically a cunt isn't going to help her at all right now.

We take the time to explain not only her betrayal but also her choice to keep our own memories safe later.
>>
>>24347970
Save the betrayal part until we know how much of what Maud ever said were lies and how much was the truth.

For all we know, she just made up the whole letter forging thing to fuck with our head, and kind of reopen our wound on the subject, when it had finally seemed to scab over.

Judging by what she said in the Trident, it seems that she legitimately did want to be the loving sister she pretended to be, but just couldn't let go of her hatred.

...Hey, so what are the chances that the Trident didn't force her to choose between her memories and ours, and she just said they did because she wanted a new start.
>>
>>24348058
Fuck that.

Considering there's still a lot we don't know about what Maud did and how she did it, or why she wanted the Trident so badly, there's no telling how accurate what we say will be.

At best, leave it vague.

That way she knows that it was her decision to have her memory erased, but not why, and we can tell her the why later when she's calmer and more emotionally stable?
>>
>>24348125
I agree with this. Also hello guys, I finally have a day off work so I can actually involve myself in the decision-making processes.

>What are the chances that the Trident didn't force her to choose etc.
Hmmm... Seems unlikely to me, based on what we know of Maud's character. She's not that mercurial.
>>
You explain to the group everything that happened within the cavern, including Maud losing her memory, you decide to leave out her betrayal for the time being. Charles, who has stayed silent since the Golemn attack, chooses to remain so and doesn’t interrupt your story.

“I’m sorry we weren’t there with you” says Joel, “We should have come sooner, we’re horrible friends”

“Yeah, sorry” says Nigel “I...oh there’s no excuse for it”

"There will be plenty of time to make up for that later."

We aren't Slytherin, bro. And Maud chose to lose her memories over ours, completely different.

I'm not sure, but I think you've vastly misinterpreted the intention of the Trident.
It wasn't a gift, whatever it said on the haft; it's a mindraping artifact meant to rip memories from unwilling minds and make those memories available to someone as ruthless as Salazar Slytherin.
It is an artifact of betrayal, not of friendship.

And then we're going to throw it into a volcano.

You ask Nigel to go to the castle and retrieve both Trib and the Headmaster and bring them to the potion master’s study. With a diligent nod Nigel hurries off.

Turning to the others you tell them to run ahead and search the tree whilst you talk with Nathaniel and Charles. They too leave at a brisk jog, Olivia kindly taking Maud by the hand and leading her in the right direction.

“So” you say, looking to a sour faced Charles and the wooden featurelessness of Nathaniel.

>Tell them how things should proceed
>>
>>24348970

i think first we need to sort out with nathaniel what he wants to do with himself now that he has a body. And also what we're going to tell the papers.

Not sure what to say to charles. The little piss pants is most definitely terrified of us, but i don't think that's going to keep him from blabbing to anyone who pressures him about what happened.
>>
>>24348970
"Charles, Maud badgered you into assisting, and all three of us finished the mannequin. We turned it over to Nathaniel, and he led us to the tunnel. Everything in the tunnel happened as it did, and your wand was broken as we fought the big golem off to escape.
"That's the story, and you'll stick by it, understood?"
>>
>>24348970
"Before you start, there's a good reason why I didn't tell Maud about what she did. And that's because, at the end of the day, the only thing I know for certain is that she was a damn good liar.

Which is why you two are going to graciously fill in some of the gaps. Charles, when did my sister ally herself with you, how did you two steal my things, and why would she share the credit of discovering the Trident with you. I'm pretty sure she wasn't planning on killing you and leaving you where Nathaniel was, so that means she must have had a plan.
You're going to tell it to me."
>>
>>24348970
"Keep the thing with Maud to yourselves. It's a family matter and I'll discuss it with her in private later."

Also, apologize to Charles about the the wand and pain-curse.

As for the Trident. I dunno. We definitely want to keep tabs on it since it has our sister's memories but I'm uncertain on what should be said about it.

Charles, you're a cheating bastard and I will give you none of the credit. You can take it or take it after a beating. Those are your only options.

Nathaniel, I'll give you credit for leading me to the Trident, but I expect you not to mention the mess with Charles and Maud."
>>
>>24348970
Tell Nathaniel that Bergle murdered him and obliviated Trib and Crispin to cover it up and the location of the Trident.

Might provide closure or whatever
>>
>>24349053
>>24349073
Both of these.

Are we going to let anyone know that we actually got the Trident, or should we let them think it was lost in the cave in? If the staff finds out, they may take it. If that happens, we lose the chance to research it (which might prevent us from getting the memories out of it).

On the other hand, they might help us fix this. We don't know.
>>
>>24349078
Yeah we should apologize about the wand breaking and the crucio thing.

But I still think that before we tell them to keep the thing with Maud to themselves, we need to clarify what the thing was.

I mean why would she anything with Charles?

Still have no clue where he fits in.

>>24349135
Even though we're the genius who figured out how to let ghosts interact with the physical plane (which should make us rich, unless it was already discovered and the government somehow managed a complete coverup) I think figuring out the Trident on our own might be too much.

Plus we need to provide proof that Salazar Slytherin was a terrible person.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t build you something more permenant, perhaps a new crystal ball is needed”

Nathaniel raises a hand, the wooden hinges creaking.

“You needn’t bother, the reason for it’s failure is with me” he says “Whilst this body isn’t causing any pain, it is not like having a true body of my own, I feel my spirit rejecting this body the way a foot wishes to be free of a shoe”

For the time being you return your attention to Charles, telling him to tell you everything about what he and Maud were up to.

“You may have already guessed” he begins, a tired snootiness in his voice “that I was the slytherin contestant. When I myself had looked into building a body for the ghost it proved too” he searches for the right wording “challenging, I needed a crytal ball, whilst talking my way into getting one in the divination room Maud asked me about it. She knew what I was up to from the start but led me on to believe she was none the wiser, that she could get one for me, ultimately she said she would only give it to me if I told her what it was for. Then she told me you were also a contestant and that she had ordered your house elf to redirect all your parent’s mail to her, and that he was forbidden to tell any wizard about it”

With a sulky roll of his eyes he finishes his little monologue.

“That enough for you?”

Crystal ball seems to indicate we're getting disowned anyway and I don't really want to deal with the kind of environment that turns an 11 year old girl into a socially isolated and paranoid wreck and her 14 yr old sister into a spiteful manipulator who can't look past her jealousy to be the big sister she honestly wants to be.

That the idle rich that our parents are likely still have at least some circles of gossip, and would thus hear via the grapevine or Charles's furious parents about the kind of things we've been up to, in which case they'd realize that someone was blocking their mail due to not receiving anything from the headmaster?
>>
>>24349898
I honestly think THEY should be making the effort, not us.

Also, our parents not showing up when we almost died.

Maud not letting them know that seems unlikely given what we know about her now.

“Thank you for being honest with me, I think we can both agree to stay out of the others way from now on”

Charles’ jaw tightens but he makes no attempt to say otherwise.

You think back to the forgery that you received earlier this morning telling you that you were disowned. You remember putting it in your...

“robe, my robe!”

You unravel your robe, carefully putting the Trident aside, and searches the pockets to find the muddy letter. This will come in useful later; you make a mental note to find a sample of Maud’s handwriting.

>"Where is my cat?"

After finding out, grab Trident again with the robes and head to the tree.

>>24350240
Oh, yes. I almost forgot. He WILL tell us where Tara is, or else.

“I want you to know that it wasn’t my intention to use that unforgivable curse on you” you tell him.

He cocks his head to the side, his face subtly contorting in a way that shows a new appraisal of you.

“OH YEAH” you say, remembering something of vital importance. “WHERE IN MERLIN’S NAME IS MY TARA?!”

“The cat?”
“YES”
“Oh, we put it in a broom cuppard across the hall”
“YOU WHAT!”

You manage to calm yourself enough to realise that things could have been a lot worse considering the way of things. You make getting Tara back your second or third objective.

You bundle the Trident up in your robes again and head off.

When you arrive at the tree you find everyone sitting around Robert who sits on the root with the scroll in his hands.

Godspeed, HPQuest
>>
>>24350705
The Trident is designed to be wielded by Pureblood Slytherins that Salazar considers worthy to steal the knowledge and memories of other people.

Maud was tested to see if she was worthy by Salazar with the Ultimatum of either mind-raping her sister like or losing her own memories.

She chose to lose her own memories.
>>
>>24350705
Apparently the Trident only took all Maud's memories of her personal life, and left knowledge of spells etc.

Still kind of suspect that she erased her own memories because that was the only way she could see to be the sister she couldn't let herself be.

Ah, correction to the Enemy trait.
"You have pissed someone off. Your presence drives them to rage and plots of
making your life suck. How did this happen? Are they in a feud with your family? Do they
think that you do not deserve the luck you have been having? Whatever the reason, they
hate your guts and will constantly go out of their way to make your life and the lives of your
friends a nightmare."

So they may not actively try to kill us, but they'll likely come close if they think they can get away with it.
>>
>>24350582
Sleep well. You've earned it.
>>
>>24350825
...Are we sure Maud wasn't our Enemy after all?

Because she went past the point of crazy.
>>
>>24350757
HA HA! Now my revenge against Millicent is complete!

>>
>>24350825
...actually, that sounds like Maud.

So, who's our rival? Joel?
>>
>>24350845
>>24350858
Here's the description for Spiteful Rival:
You have a rival who is spiteful and will go out of their way to show you up.
Your success stings when they hear about it, and being even just is not enough for them.
They will strive to outdo you, even going as far as making trouble for you and making you
look like a goof.

The Enemy wouldn't have hesitated in eating our memories.
>>
>>24350856
It seems like while she couldn't stop hating us, somewhere along the road she also started caring about us.

Like when that boss golem appeared, she was genuinely concerned.

Poor insane sister.
>>
>>24350887
I don't know, the fact that she was able to pretend to be on our side for a long time, while secretly brimming with resentment and ill-will still sounds more like an enemy.
>>
>>24350908
Honestly she could be either or; enemy makes sense because I can think of ways we've pissed her off but it's possible that the enemy is someone from our past we haven't met yet. Our Enemy maybe even be our Voldemort.
>>
>>24350887
I see what you mean, but what she did went far beyond "outdoing us" and "making us look like a goof." She made our school year a living hell.

On the other hand, she didn't eat our memories.

So...horrible Rival, or reformed Enemy?

>>
>>24350893
Here's my interpretation. She blocked our letters, which led us to not following our parents instructions, which led to them getting pissed off enough to not show up when we were hurt and disowning us after the unforgivable curse.

Maud knew of their intentions to disown since the incident with Bergle and was actually trying to set up a way for us to live together, since it partially her fault that we were being disowned and she was trying to take responsibility. The letter this morning was real.

But she was still pissed off at us enough to lord it over heads when we discovered her ploy.
>>
>>24350945

As if you needed further proof that paranoia is always right.

As for Maud, I'd say she was an enemy, but after the mem-wipe she could be a reformed rival or even a friend.

Maybe we can pickup some other hindrances for next year

Maud had a vision of magic-hitler, and he told her to either suck our memories (knowledge) away from us or the trident will suck out her own.

>>
>>24351137

we'll know when it comes to bite us. We'll probably have to defend Maud in front of our parents, defend ourselves and all of that jazz.

It could be made easier by the fact htat "oh mom and dad I'm so sorry and oh but what's this in my pocket it looks like the MOTHERFUCKING SECRET TRIDENT OF MOTHERFUCKIN SALAZAR COCKFUCKER SLYTHERIN THAT IF OUND and by the way you are both dicks"

Chekhov.
>>
>>24351214
Defending Maud is relatively easy.
Seeing as Bergle apparently was nuts for keeping people away from the Trident, we can just say that he made Maud make Pester block the letters, and cast some kind of spell or whatever that made Maud not take it back after Bergle died.

Because who can prove us wrong?
>>
So, is Charles now respecting us now and not out right fearing us? Would be nice for once not to be feared.
>>
>>24351242
Thank you, bro.
>>
I suspect Maud has a Jason Bourne type amnesia. You remember all your skills, like you can play chess if you already know how, but remembering personal details is impossible.
>>
>>24351251
Actually, knowing that we didn't mean to cast it probably only means he fears us less; I'm not seeing any respect.

This will probably just make him more ballsy.
>>
>>24351230
I don't think that's right, because it's very VERY useful right now.
Like remembering how to cast magic means that hopefully she won't be kicked out of Hogwarts or permanently sent to St. Mungo's and thus won't be completely dependent on us, which is something I don't think any of us are ready to handle.

If anything it's the opposite of that, where it'll seem really fortunate but bite our ass in the future.
>>
>>24351275
Hopefully she'll be able to make new memories in the future.

Like the crystal ball indicates that she might permanently be forgetful, but I really hope it's not to the point of Alzheimer's which, again, I do not have faith in our ability to handle with the weight it would deserve.

it is illegal to use magic outside of hogwarts before your 7th year
>>
>>24353923

that is one fine argument. I stand defeated.

What if we Lawyer our way into becoming emancipated, thus superseding the trace? Also, we know that in a wizard dwelling the trace cannot distinguish between adults and minors, so we could just be always "around an adult" (Maud) and still cast TERRIBLE MAGICKS.

Or we could use some fangled muggle contramption, but i dunno..
>>
>>24353961
seeing as any magic use while the trace is active results in expulsion followed by a hearing to see if you can be un-expelled i don't think we should risk it.

my advice/request is this

Do what you are doing now but slow it down space everything out more. we can wait a little while for main story plot points. give us more slice of life at hogwarts stuff and give us some time to free roam. We all want to learn new stuff about the HPQ universe. With hogwarts castle you can literally show us anything you want just by having take a wrong turn in the castle. I'd really like to see some stuff inbetween the school years at the beginning and end of each book as well as breaks.

stick with is an ignore the haters you have a fanbase that wont leave you that is big enough to warrant continuation no matter how many faggots say they are dropping it. If we want to ride this thing for 7 years (i figured that at our current pace its gonna take over two years to finish) we can't make a habit of derailing threads.

anon and the trips need to trust in you to move the story and not bitch every time a plot twist shows up. If we start freaking out it should be your policy to just keep trucking.

You are running one of the best quests i've been in and I look forward to it every day. Also dawg you don't need to run them every single day we would understand and support you taking time off when ever you need or want to. Right now you are a fricken machine, most quests of this quality are once a week. Basically keep up the good work.

quidditch
maybe dueling club or something
more characters with diverse personality
more in depth exploration of the main characters
hidden references are nice
and damn it man let me love olivia!

I think my run with year one is almost up though, I'll do a bit of slice of life stuff but I'm really looking forward to the fresh start of year two, which I see as the real beginning now we know who are characters are.

I agree with this most of all. I think this problem will be sorted out once the first year is done with, though. I'm interested to see how we'll end up spending the summer.

Got my tablet to work again, working on Indiana Millie.

>other schools
salem would be dope if involved in someway because its canon.

>being in the triwiz
do we really want to be that main character?
im fine with doing it tho

>hot springs
awww shit we do need to go to hogsmead and not get kicked out,

>which I see as the real beginning now we know who are characters are.

think of it this way, you are writing a book on the spot. Not many authors could do that and not have a shaky start.

>working on Indiana Millie.

thank you based doodlefag.

what is it with tablets, i have never met or talked to anyone who hadn't had a problem with theirs at somepoint. mine is fucked beyond all repair... and i suck at using it.

oh yes, you're right, especially:

> give us more slice of life at hogwarts stuff and give us some time to free roam. We all want to learn new stuff about the HPQ universe. This doesn't necessearly mean living day by day, but maybe have a big overarching plot (like you did for this year) and then many small one/completely unrelated objectives. I think the rule of thumb here should be "at some point you'll have to decide what you need to do and put something on the backseat". Like how we knew harry was overwhelmed by homework, DA meetings, quidditch, and still people griefed him for not being able to beat voldemort by sneezing.

Charles Dance as himself. Charles Dance as Vetinari. He would be so cool as headmaster, but Black Dynamite seems extremely on the cool side, what with his two teacher buddies.

>>24354356
We can send joel on. I mean, if you where the headmaster you'd choose the genius kid over the little girl with the demons of the nether inside.

Tablets are evil. My girlfriend works as an illustrator and hates them. then she bought a Cintiq. she drools now.

Yeah it got to a point where I couldn't see the forest past the trees.

another humble request: please put Millicent in the subject or every first post even on continuations threads so the filters work. its a lot easier to have it pinned to the top.
>>
>>24354452
yep
>>
>>24354452
ALSO! You should change the introductory text every once in a while. After 40 thread i think you can safely assume that anon knows what's going on. Maybe have a single intro post, followed by a "Previously in Hogwarts" with a point-list of what happened ("Obtained Crystal Ball. Killed Headmaster. Met House Elf (free).").

then again, I guess what you're doing with repeating the last post works too.

oh! maybe you should add in the incipit what kind of roll mechanic you use. I know it's 1d100, the lower the better, But I have no idea how you choose what roll to take (first, first three, dubs, trips, quads, quintets).

Also, I know someone has all the drawings done for millicent; can It be uploaded somewher plez
>>
>>24354504
>the intro text
i think it was neccessary because people were arguing about who millicent was and how to play her

>the rolls
1d100 lower the better , first post counts. HPQ usually sets thresholds for pass fail.

>drawings
I have them, but they are all on the suptg archive. I guess its to much work to go through them so let me upload them somewhere and post it in the next thread. ill go through and make sure i get them all. but from now on just save them in to a folder man.

You are a god amongst men. My problem is that I sometime can follow the threads at home, bust mostly during glorious night shift at work. So I can't save shit on the work pc, because of (obvious) reasons.

Jokes aside though, it's nice to know I've been able to make a recognisable resemblance to reality based on vague descriptions alone.
