So, sup /tg/? I'm here and I'm going to go on and on about an old game called Fireborn.

In Fireborn, you are a dragon. You start out as a fucking dragon. This is awesome. The setting is placed in London during 2001. Magic is coming back into the world slowly and the most ancient and powerful beings of the mythic past are awakening from their centuries long slumber. In the case of many of these beings, their souls have been reincarnated into human form. While you're human with some minor shapeshifting to start with, the story can shift between the modern era and the mythic age as your dragonic memories return to you, granting you insight as events seem to repeat themselves in strange circles. In essence, you build the modern character and the mythic character, utilizing your past lives! This may sound like Otherkin: the Dragoning, this is pretty much all about exploration of an age long lost and dragons punching the minions of Cthulhu in the face.

The system behind this Fantasy Flight game that got canned after the first two books is called Dynamic d6. In it, you use an amount of six-sided dice equal to the relevant elemental stat over the Threshold with fours, fives, and sixes counting as successful dice. To determine dice the dice pool, you look at the action you're performing and you try to match it up to one of four elemental actions. Air is the Aspect of careful thought, insight, awareness, planning, as well as stealth and interaction. Earth is the Aspect of willpower, resistance to spells, and your ability to pierce deception. Water is the Aspect of stamina, defensive reflexes, and healthiness. Fire is the Aspect of aggressive phsyical action, active exertion, and attacking. Each Aspect is rated from 1 to 6, with 6 being the best, obviously and 3 being average.

To quote the book, the 'Dynamic' part of Dynamic d6 is when Skills are thrown into the mix. Instead of Attribute + Skill, they do a thing where you can transfer dice from your not relevant Aspects to a relevant one. Your skills dictate how much dice you can move between Aspects. If you have Melee 4 and you want to wail on a guy without consideration for your own defense, you can move up to 4 dice from your Water Aspect to your Fire Aspect.

In combat, you get one Mental action and one Physical action, simple enough, right? Well, they broaden it a bit and make it so that you have Actions and Reactions too. You can swing a sword (Phsyical Action), cast a spell (Mental Action), dodge gunfire (Physical Reaction), or even find the flaws in someone's logic (Mental Reaction). Air and Fire tend to cover Actions while Water and Earth handle Reactions. In combat, you uses Moves to create Sequences, basic elements of actions into dramatic feats. At the end of a Sequence, you have a Payoff, which is damaging and dramatic and often part of fighting styles.

This is the most basic of overviews of the system that makes up Fireborn. Now, let's dive into the crunch of the game and make a character, collectively. First, we get a concept going. People should make a suggestion and roll a d100 and the highest roll gets made.

Okay, looks like our concept is A Butch Lesbian Biker Barkeep! Maybe a troll, but we can work with this!

Now, we get to buying up Aspects. Doing that for us, I give you the array of 5, 4, 3, 2 to spread around in her Fire, Water, Earth, and Air Aspects. Roll a d100 with your array suggestions for a tough chick who likes other chicks, lowest wins this time.

Fire is for physical actions involving aggression.
Water is for defensive physical things like health and stamina.
Air is for thinking and applying it.
Earth is your willpower and stick-to-itive-ness.

And we have a winner. Our girl knows her way around a fight, has willpower to spare, is average in terms of toughness, and is a little slow in the wits department. Pretty good for being a biker, I say.

After buying up stats comes Backgrounds. These are great and broad character archetypes which range from archeologists, to mystics in the modern era, to craftsmen, to lawyers, to paramedics. Each one offers Primary Skills, Secondary Skills, a list of Edges to choose from, Fighting Style Ranks, and Wealth.

As biker is a part of our concept, let's go with the biker. We get the Primary Skills at 4 so that means we have Knoweledge: Geography 4, Knowledge: Street 4, Melee 4, and Travel 4. Our Secondary Skills are at 2, so that means we have Senses 2, Tech: Mechanics 2, and Trickery at 2.

Our list of Edges is thus: Aggressive, Allies, and Brutal. We only get one and if the Edge has a ranking, we only get the first rank. Aggressive allows us to re-roll on all tests with one skill, usually related to physical activity. Allies gets us a neat friend, who's just a human at this rank. Brutal adds a point of damage to our thrown and melee damage per rank, up to our (large) Fire score

We start with 2 Fighting Style Ranks and Wealth 2, putting us on par with the working class.

Now, roll 2d100. Lowest roll chooses our one Edge and the highest gives our girl a name. If you pick Allies, then describe the ally a bit.

Okay, we got our Edge buy. Bizzy is one Brutal chick.

Next, we decide on our Sire. This is like our guiding principal and philosophy about being the Scion and reincarnated dragon. We've got a long list, so the first five people to make choices from the list will have them expanded on.

The List:
Basilisk
Behemoth
Caranoch
Cernnues
Chimera
Dambala
Hydra
Jormungand

Okay, so a Sire is a lot like a Background in that it gives you some things for free: A worldview, an additional Edge, more Fighting Style Ranks, and some bonus Karma. Karma functions as magic points for Fireborn.

Our narrowed down list gives us the following:
Chimera - Rightous warriors who revere femininity.
Dambala - Shadowy questors of human potential.
Jormungand - Grim, uncaring oppertunists.
Ryu - Bold, courageous young protectors
Zu - Ambitious, capable, often misguided techheads and worshippers of all things modern.

Each thing can sound a lot like Bizzy. Out of the list, roll a d100. The HIGHEST roll chooses our Sire, the voice and narrator of our story, so to speak.

She's not quite "feminine" though, just female. I say Ryu, because it sounds hot-blooded.
>>
Rolled 5

>>24388388

Chimera's the obvious choice, but I'm gonna have to go with Zu, because what biker doesn't obsessively tinker with their ride, you know?
>>
>>24388388
>Shadowy questors of human potential.

So pretty much dragons that test humans ? Meh.

I'm going with Chimera.
>>
>>24388468

Ryu as a Sire means that Bizzy is indeed young and hotblooded. She has courage, honor, and respect and is all about seeing the realized potential in others. However, many spawn of Ryu are naive, single minded, and lacking in creativity. Makes sense given her low Air score.

Bizzy's got her choice of three Edges: Action Junkie, Karmic Release and Strong. Action Junkie allows you to forgo your first mental action in combat to re-roll your initiative once per rank. Karmic Release can allow you to spend more Karma than you normally can in a mechanic called Karma Bidding after the bidding has ended. If you start the bid, you must put forward at least 1 Karma. Strong simply gives you two rerolls to non-combat tests that rely on strength and +25% carrying capacity.

Ryu adds 4 to her Fighting Style Ranks and 1 bonus point of Karma to her pool.

So, roll a d100 and the LOWEST roll with their pick of the Edges gets it.

Oooh, that's a hard one. Let's go with Strong, though.

Bizzy is one strong woman thanks to Ryu. Finally, we get to spending some bonus points after doing a little math. Don't worry about the math, for I've got that taken care of. She gets a mess of bonus Physical skill points equal to her Fire + Water and Mental skill points equal to Air + Earth.

In addition, we get a third rank of an edge to throw around. We can improve Brutal, get an Ally like someone suggested up thread, OR I can throw in something she'd likely have. This time, the closest roll to 50 with a choice of the three gets to pick.

Okay, so we're adding Danza Stark, her lesbian lover, as an ally. She's a scientist. No shit--she works for a medical research corporation specializing in high-tech surgical treatments.

Rounding her out a bit with bonus points, we've got a human character! Hurray! Now, we turn to Bizzy's mythic side.

In the interest of time, we're just going to use the mirrored dragon creation, meaning that Bizzy in the mythic past was a lot like she is now.

First, we increase her Aspects by one and add in Superhuman scores of 6 to Fire, 4 to Earth and Water, and 1 to Air.

Second, her mythic self has all the same skills as she does, only two ranks higher. This means she has 2 in every skill and all of her starting ones from biker are at 6 and 4 with a smattering of others at 5 and the rest at 2.

Third, we give her dragon form some numbers and stats. Since her highest Aspect is Fire, she's a fire dragon and her breed, while usually Drake in this case, is going to be serpent because I feel that works better.

Her powers are Alternate Form 5, Child of Fire 4, Ferocity 3, Shadow Spinner 2, and Instinct 1 as her freebie power.

She gets all her Edge choices from her Background and Sire, much like her human. This means Aggressive at 5, Allies at 4, Brutal at 3, Action Junkie at 2, Karmic Release at 1, and since Strong is unranked, she doesn't need ranks in it.

Finally, she gets a Legacy. This is something that her elder self has imbuned upon her mortal form. In the interest of time, we'll give her Fire Wyrm, which lets her breathe fire for a slight karma expenditure.

Putting in a few details, her past self was a dragon of great force and grace, adept at changing her shape to mingle with humans, one of which caught her attention the most. A powerful seer woman who could pierce her disguises. It seems relationships carry over beyond time and space.

Rounding things out, the girl needs some gear and Fighting Style ranks, but they're quite easily taken care of. AND THAT /tg/ IS HOW YOU MAKE A FIREBORN CHARACTER. Sheet to follow as well as download links for the books so you can go over them yourself.

Cool! This system actually sounds pretty cool. I wonder if anyone'd run it? As otherkinny as it sounds on the surface it seems surprisingly deep and... non fetishy, so I'd be willing to give it a try.

It's hardly fetishy. Sure you have a dragon's soul, but that takes a back seat to punching Cthulhu's minions in the face and finding out more about the mythic past.
