Predator Question Ep 6.

You are Three-Claw, a Yautja hunter of the Cloud Viper clan. You have been tasked by your clan Matriarch to embark on a hunt on the world of Fey'lenn, or Pandora, as it is known to humans.

The previous quest thread is archived here:

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/24370313/

After a gruelling battle with Pandora's aquatic life, you barely survive.

You have suffered:

1. A wounded shoulder
2. A wounded leg (With a knife still stuck in it)
3. Broken ribs

You killed the hammerhead fish-beast and took its teeth as trophy.

Its gargantuan brethren, however, is now stirring. It slams its tail against the lake-floor and lets off a keen and ferocious wail that sends shockwaves tumbling towards you.

You stumble your way into your ship. You are almost overcome by pain.

You quickly scan your ship's power systems. They are at 65%.

Do you:

A. Stay still and engage the stealth systems.
B. Power up the engines and get away.
>>
>>24450823

It's not too smart, let's just use the stealth system to hide and lick our wounds.
>>
Can't we do both? Can we turn on stealth, fly out of the water, put several hundred miles between our landing spot before WY decides finding out who we are is not worth the security breach and carpet bombs the hemisphere?
>>
>>24450867

...If not, A. Turn on stealth and tend to our wounds.
>>

>>A. Stay still and engage the stealth systems.

You engage the stealth systems and hope for the best.

You stash the salvaged nav computer and data slates into your storage and pull the knife out of your leg. You toss the knife into the trophy chest, along with the beast's teeth.

With a sudden rumble that quakes your ship, the gargantuan hammerhead launches itself into the water.

Its flock of smaller hammerheads begin detaching themselves one by one.

Several catch the scent of your recent battle and begin to drift your way. If you stay here for too long, you risk one of them bumping into your ship.

Do you:

A: Stealthily take off towards the surface
B. Return the ruins of the RDA dome to rest and patch your wounds
C. Hook the salvaged nav computer into your positioning system and head towards its last port.

>>B. Return the ruins of the RDA dome to rest and patch your wounds

You slowly throttle up your engine and head towards the ruins. Behind you, the gargantuan hammerhead beast opens its massive maw and begins to chew and swallow the submersible wreck.

You set your ship down behind the rubble, hidden from view, and deactivate the stealth.

You rummage through your medi-kits. You inject yourself with several healing and disinfecting serums into your shoulder and leg. Your chest however, still pains from each breath.

Your ship lacks the facilities to regenerate your ribs, but you can inject yourself with some healing paste to get them re-aligned.

The process is extremely painful, so you'll need to put yourself to sleep for several hours while the paste gets to work.

Do you:

A. Take the risk and put yourself to sleep for 4 hours while the paste aligns your ribs.
B. Live with it as is and endure the wound.
C. Apply the paste without anaesthesia and attempt to bear the horrible pain. (DC: Medium-hard)

You break open the syringe's seal and jam it into your chest. A terrible pain overcomes you. Your vision blurs and you can feel your ribs being twisted within you. You endure, however, as you recall the teachings of your master.

Slowly, the hours go by, and bit by bit you feel the pain subsiding. At last, the pain leaves your body, and you can breathe clear again.

Your ribs are set, but will take many days to fully heal. You should avoid further trauma to that area in the near future.

You take some time to dissect the Weyland nav computer and the various data slates.

You find, among them, the locations of a few key Weyland facilities. There is some sort of deep sea research facility near the edge of this lake, which is probably where the submersible came from.

There are also several research facilities along the surface.

Do you:

A. Spend some more time exploring the lake
B. Head towards the surface and take off into the atmosphere.

Your ship is now at 100% capacity.

You power up your ship and being to head towards the surface.

Recalling the defences you faced earlier, you engage your stealth systems and slowly break the surface of the water.

Your sensors indicate several anti-air batteries in your immediate vicinity and seven atmospheric gunships on patrol.

Do you:

A. Go vertical and gain altitude to avoid dealing with the gunship patrols.
B. Stick close to the surface to avoid the anti-air batteries' sensors.

How acceptable is it to return for resupply and then head out again to a mission? It will take a total of 12 days (6 in each direction).

It is implausible for us to single handedly do away with the entire wayland tech expedition. (although if we did so it would be a massive victory for us)

We are a scout here for info gathering... how much info is enough though?
>>
>>24451396
>>B. Stick close to the surface to avoid the anti-air batteries' sensors.

You set your ship to terrain following mode and stick close to the surface.

You avoid the gunship patrols to the best of your abilities.

You suddenly catch a massive thermal signature descending from orbit. A large weyland cargo ship is making planetfall at a dock nearby.

The way to do the absolute most damage to wayne corp here is to cause more predator containment breaches. We should aim to find exactly where they experiment on predators and then sneak into those places to cause breaches.
>>
>>24451495

I think WY probably has something to do with the infestation
>>
>>24451522
Not even WY is stupid enough to bring Yautja to a planet of forest.
>>
>>24451495
WY use the xenomorphs as bioweapons, they brought them here and they are experimenting with adding pandorian DNA to xenomorphes.
WY created this new breen of blue winged xenomorph using pandorian lifeforms in the ship we blew up. When we shot the ship they lost containment.

This has all been pretty explicit so I don't understand your confusion.

>>24451552
We are Yautja (predator). WY is experimenting on black prey (xenomorphs / Alien)
>>
>>24451501
>>B. Try to get closer to the cargo ship and scan its cargo. (DC: Medium)

Pass. You tail the massive cargo ship and use its massive energy output to mask your sensor scan.

You take some time to perform a thorough E/M and thermal scan, now having some more experience in detecting the presence of synthetics.

Apart from the crew, the cargo ship is full of thermal signatures packed closely together. The signatures match various species of the Pandoran wildlife.

Below you, the grassy ground begins to part, and a massive silo door is revealed. A set of guiding lights flash from within, and the massive cargo ship begins to descend into its maw.

A. Stick close to the ship and follow it into the dock.
B. Remain where you are and continue observing.

You watch as the cargo ship disappears beneath the ground. The silo doors slide close behind it.

You cross-reference the location with the salvaged nav computer. It's marked there as "Specimen Triage Lab 2".

You take some time to scan the area, but your sensors cannot seem to penetrate the earth to each the facilities below. Either the facility is buried too deep, but they have some sort of shielding material built into the walls.

You must now decide your next destination.

Do you:

A. Proceed towards the large Weyland facility marked "Lab 01" on the nav computer.

You set course for the last recorded position of your father according to his ship logs.

You come upon a massive clearing filled with toppled trees and signs of charred growth. New vegetation is steady growing on top of the ruins, but there is no mistake - this devastation was the result of your father's honour device.

Near the center of the devastated area, you see a derelict compound bearing the Weyland logo. The compound consisted, at one point, of two large buildings surrounded by four heavily fortified walls.

It has since been destroyed in the blast.

Gethquest would be the greatest or most chaotic thing since we would have to come to a consensus on every fucking thing.

Let's do it
>>
>>24451904
>B. Take some time to fix the engine

You take one of the plasma cutters from the storage bay and carefully cut the obstruction from the intake piece by piece.

Once the last piece has been cleared and the intakes are once again free of obstruction, you tentatively start up the engine. Both engines come to life. After a few moments of thorough diagnostics, you determine both engines are in perfect working order.

While you were working, you couldn't help but feel something was very wrong with this place. Now, you realize - since you landed here hours ago, you have not seen or heard a single animal in the dense overgrowth.

You feel slightly disconcerted.

You engage the ship's cloaking system and decide to:

A. Explore the devastated area and the compound within. Nightfall is coming, but armed now with your vision mask, you are no longer as concerned with moving in the dark as during your trials.

B. Look around the overgrowth for signs of wild life and scout your immediate area.

C. Spend the night in your ship.

You slowly walk around the immediate area while scanning everything of interest with your vision mask. With your finely honed hunter's instincts, you notice the density of vegetation overgrowth, but no signs of foraging by herbivores.

You come upon something interesting in the distance. It's the body of a Weyland synthetic, tangled up in a patch of vines.

Scanning with your vision mask tells you that it's truly inactive.

>B. Cut it loose and drag it back to your ship.
You cut the vines entangling the synthetic and begin dragging it back to your ship.

You lay it on the ground next to your boarding ramp and begin to examine it. At first, you notice no exterior wounds, and deduce that it tried to escape the blast radius but was caught and knocked out by the secondary EMP.

Then, as you begin to peel away its armour, you notice several spots on the armour were eaten away by acid. Further examination shows heavy signs of corrosion along his harness.

This thing was carrying something on its back, but must have dropped it when the acid ate through the harness.

This is the first time you've had the opportunity to study your synthetic prey in such a manner. Do you:

A. Spend some time to perform a full autopsy on it to determine its operations and nature.

B. Move the body away from your ship and dispose of it.

We're going to be tangling with these fuckers in the near future. May as well figure out their weak points so we don't have to rely on completely dismembering them to put them down.

IF it is a military model it will most likely have tampering prevention built into it, no reason to risk it, dispose of it and continue on, the path where we found it and see if we can locate what it was carrying

A - To better know our prey.

>A. Spend some time to perform a full autopsy on it to determine its operations and nature.

You slice the thing open in a methodical manner and begin to study its insides. You take note of its muscle strength and nerve layout. You find yourself coming to greater understanding in what makes these synthetic warriors tick.

The nervous system seems to be completely decentralized, allowing them to operate on some capacity even when decapitated. But most of the decision and logic circuits are housed in the cranium, and without it, it falls back on primitive combat routines which will make them much more manageable. You also notice its spine houses a large portion of its nerves, and severing it will slow its reflexes greatly.

You have learned all you can from this specimen. You drag the remains away from your ship and dispose of them with your plasma torch.

Next, you:

A. Proceed to investigate the compound.
B. Stay with your ship and pass the night.
>>
>>24452163
>B. Stay with your ship and pass the night.

>>B. Stay with your ship and pass the night.

You decide to spend the night in your cockpit rather than the sarcophagus, just in case something shows up on sensors.

Shortly after you drift off to sleep, you are suddenly awakened by your sensors.

You are picking up several signatures on the motion sensors, but there's nothing on thermal or E/M.

You see the signatures converging on you. With your keen eyes, you notice several things moving quickly among the trees before you.

Do you:

A. Drop out of cloak and engage the plasma turrets.
B. Remain in cloak and wait.
C. Throttle up your engines and lift off.

First fis now something that can only be picked up with motion sensors. This is going to be a long trip isn't it?
>>
>>24452240
No image intensifiers or FLIR?
B, but keep a claw on C.

Not sure how well the turrets would work against something the sensors can't even see
>>
>>24452278

You remain in cloak and observe. There are at least six distinct contacts. Their movement patterns become obvious - they are moving towards you.

As they get closer, your E/M sensors suddenly begin to pick up very faint traces of bio-electrical emissions. You cross references them with known signatures and your worst fears are confirmed - they are black beasts. But somehow, these are able to mask their bio-electrical emissions.

You make out their outlines as they get closer. They are similar in size to the runner drones, are far faster. Massive hind legs show they are capable of jumping great distances and each has a series of spines jutting from the crowns on the back of their heads.

The first pounces upon your ship. Your stealth systems flicker and your ship shakes.

The spike-headded beast begins to claw and scratch at your ship's exterior. Its comrades trail shortly behind it.

Do you:

A. Engage the plasma turrets and try to shoot it.
B. Exit your ship to try to deal with it.
C. Engage the engines and lift off.

You slam the throttle forward and engage the engines. Both engines roar to life, and begin to lift the ship off quickly.

The beast, however, manages to cling on. It scurries under your ship's belly, and you suddenly hear the groaning and twisting of metal behind you.

The thing is trying to pry open the missile bay!

Do you:

A. Put the ship to violent and sudden manoeuvres to try and shake it loose. (DC: Medium)
B. Slam the ship back into the ground and crush it. (DC: Medium-Hard)

You put your ship into a controlled dive and aim it straight at the ground. At the last moment, you lift your nose and scrape your ship's belly against the ground ahead. You hear a long and sharp screech as the beast is churned to paste between your ship and the ground.

You once again lift up into the air.

You take a look at your motion sensors. Your immediate area is covered with contacts. There must be hundreds, if not thousands of them down there.

Do you:

A. Engage stealth and fly away
B. Wait in midair and continue to observe.
C. Fire a fission torpedo at the ground and cleanse the entire area.

>>C. Fire a fission torpedo at the ground and cleanse

You open the missile bay and read one of your two fission torpedoes. You set its target to the highest concentration of contacts ground-side and fire.

The missile streaks through the night sky, leaving a green trail of plasma propellant. You quickly turn your ship around and gun the throttle. Your engines roar as they engage. You brace yourself and turn on your cockpit's UV filter. For a brief moment, you become blinded by the sudden flash.

You are then thrown forward in your seat as the shock waves catches up to your ship. You quickly stabilize your ship and survey the area beneath you.

The entire area, around six kilometres in radius are now nothing but scorched earth. All movement has ceased, and the brilliant nuclear flash gradually gives away to the dark of night.
