>Einstein hovered near, perfectly silent. You knew you could check his data at any time: http://pastebin.com/CaAF0yS8

Your name is Heather, and you're not quite sure what you are. Reality twisted around you, and you feel strange, very strange. You wince, feeling your skeleton reshift itself, and when you open your eyes again, Theta looked smaller.
A lot smaller.

You were currently in the dining room of Sarvesh's household, with baked clay walls, several appliances like the CHN built into the walls, and you feel something wrapping tightly around your ankle. You look down- and you're looking down at the front feet of a pinkish, IR-striped centaur. Your clothing is tangled around one of the ends. Reaching down, you move down one of the two, heavy, sluggish pincers you now have. You feel something strange around where your belly button was- as if you had two extra gangly, clumsy arms there, and the way your legs feel are beyond strangeness.
>Field too long!
>>
"Yes!" Theta said. His voice seemed to boom in the back of your head, and blurred together- like someone slammed up the gain and down the volume. Centaur hearing wasn't very good, you quickly figured out. "Three complete changes simultaniously. I *am* the best."
"... I'm not quite sure what you've done." You hear Sarvesh say, and look at him. He was... a lot smaller. as small as a tall human, now, his carapace dark red- and the carapace on his back was made of multiple shells placed together.
"How do I look?!" Pheles slurred, and you look over to her- she was human, with UV-white hair and tanned skin. "Ugh, I can't talk at a- ow!" She said, biting her own tongue.
She was also perfectly nude, and about your size, you'd guess. And then you realize that you have seven fingers sticking out of your upper lip, dangling down- and that your nostrils were on either cheekbone, flapping as you took a breath. You felt like you were wearing a suit of armor everywhere, skintight.
>>
>>24456973
<I can't fly my ship like this.>
>>
oh nice we're a centaur!

"That is impressive." Use Einstein's viewer to see what we look like now.
>>
>>24456973
"This is very disconcerting."
>>
>>24456973
"dfg'*tyu**wer're'cv*"
>>
>>24456973
so female Sarvesh
centaur heather
human pheles
not bad theta
>>
<... I can't fly my ship like this.> You say, and flap your mandibles forward.
"Don't worry, I'll turn it off again later."
Pheles tried to take a step- and stumbled into you. It was impossible for something so tiny to push you even slightly, it felt.

You close your eyes- where the eyelids came from the sides of your eyes, rather than the top- and focus on Einstein to see yourself. Constrained to human eyesight, you looked reddish tan, with a thick, single shell on your back, Pheles leaning on you giggling and biting her tongue some more, and four legs- your clothing coiled around your front right ankle.
"Thi*buzz* i*buzz* very discon*buzz*er*click*ing." You say.
"... It's what?"
"Very disconcerting." Sarvesh said. "That's what she said."
Pheles just changed to hugging you. "Not used to two legs. Or tongue." She said, very slowly and deliberately. "You're cute, Heawer. Heawer."
"Use your tongue on your upper teeth." Theta said.
"Heather! Hehe! I said it!" She said.
>>
>>24456973
grip theta by the neck and lift.

"I think I'll have to kill you; and one of the few things stopping me is how clumsy I am and the fact that I'd like to go back to being human sometime."
>>
>>24457095
Manifest a dress or something at the very least for pheles
>>
>>24457095
"You look so tiny now!"
Carefully pick her up and place on our carapace.
>>
>>24457118
>Manifest
just lend her some clothes as she's our human size right now
>>
>>24457095

better have her put on some clothing... the only ones we've got are ours.
>>
>>24457095
"You're cute too, Pheles. And Sarvesh, you're so tiny."
So are we a male centaur?
>>
"You loo*click* so tiny now!" You say, your voice booming and strange. You reach out to lift her- and then you realize that the 'inside' of your upper arm's two pincers is designed for shearing throug limbs... so instead you slide your arms underneath her armpits, and lift her up, twisting around your entire waist. It felt strange, like your spine had an axle connecting to your waist- you could probably twist it over 360 degrees. Carefully, you set her on your shell, and feel a small person sitting on what you think of as your butt, dulled by the 'armor'.

"Yay!" She said. "I am prewy.. pretty tiny now. You're so big!" She said, waving out her arms. She hugged you again, and gave you an appraising look. "Ewrywing... everything looks so weird. No IR, or you-wee.. UV."

"You can use my clothes." You tell Pheles, getting more used to *not* clicking your tongues when you spoke. You didn't have teeth, so that was rather strange, so you had to get used to things. Luckily, telepathy did most of the hard work for you.
"Yay!" She said, and carefully, slowly made her way off of your back. You lifted a leg, and felt your entire balance shift *much* more than you were used to, and she started pulling on your clothing, figuring out how it worked.

"... I'm very disconcerted right now." Sarvesh said. "I don't know what's changed about me, but I am smaller."

Pheles gave him a once over- and started giggling. "You're a girl!"
Sarvesh hung his head.
"And Heather's male!" Theta called.
>>
>>24457095
"I'm just gonna stand here for a while."
>>
>>24457211
"Hah!"
>>
>>24457211
"Um."

"What do."
>>
>>24457211
leer at sarvesh; leer at him HARD
>>
>>24457211

"I don't feel like I am, I think?"
>>
>>24457211
Pheles: <Does that mean I have wiggly bits now?>
>>
>>24457260
whatever we do, don't think of sexytimes with anyone.
>>
>>24457277
Unless Theta messed up, it's not going to come out unless we're holding hands.
>>
>>24457277
It's cool, we already asked Sarvesh and Centaurs don't get awkward boners.
>>
>>24457277
Apparently centaur boners just bump against the inside of the carapace unless you make them come out.
>>
>>24457211
>Minor correction; Ball joint, not axle.

"I don't feel like I am, I think?" You say.
"Oh, you are." Theta said.
<Does that mean I have wiggly bits now?> You ask Pheles, and she blushed as brightly as physically possible, the IR easily visible on her cheeks. She looked under you for a bit, then bit her top lip nervously and nodded.
<You... you do. You have the plates and everything.>
"And here is where I turn up *all* the hormones and watch the fun-" Theta said, suddenly tugged into the air by Sarvesh.
Sarvesh shook him.
"I dare you." He said- he sounded as angry as you've ever seen him.
"... That last part was a joke." Theta squeaked.
"... Oh! Okay." Sarvesh set him back down again, and patted you on the head.

Pheles finally got your shirt on, and got to her feet- she was a bit bustier, *much* longer legged than you, and just slightly flabbier, but she fit in your clothing fine. "Tada~!"
"You're very pretty." Sarvesh added, neutrally. She stumbled over to him, arms out to keep her balance, and pulled him into a hug as well.
>>
>>24457339
>and patted *him* on the head
>>
>>24457339
you know I could get used to this extra pair of legs businesses, nice and stable...although I'd hate to see how running feels...and at least be happy you've still got all the appendages you're used to sarvesh. you guys have some weird feeling arm bones
>>
>>24457339
"Hah, so are you, Sarvesh!"
>>
>>24457339

"he's right, you would be very popular."

take a few exploratory steps, carefully.
>>
>>24457339
"He's right. You got bigger boobs than me as well."
>>
"Hah, so are you, Sarvesh!" You call.
Sarvesh went perfectly, utterly silent.
"He's just confused because he likes you a lot, but he's not attracted to you when you're all manly." Pheles said.
Sarvesh shot her a glare.
"He's right, though." You tell Pheles. "You would be very popular. You've got bigger boobs than me as well."
"Do I? I thought the top bit was a little too tight." She said, and looked down the front of her shirt, readjusting her clothing. Sarvesh went bluer and forcefully averted his eyes.

You try to take a step- and one of your front legs shoot sideways away from you, making you lean forward.
"Um, okay. Our hips and knees are all sideways compared to you guys." Pheles said. "So you need to try... shuffling. Sideways."
Carefully, you skid your leg sideways, the entire, crookedly bent leg stepping forward- and then you do the next, stretching your other front leg- and then you pull both rear legs closer to your torso, twisting around to watch how they move.
Walking was probably the weirdest and hardest part about the entire change.
>>
>>24457475
"Uh...not sure I'll get anywhere like this. Hopefully I'll get used to it quickly or it'd take whole day just to get back to the ship."
>>
>>24457475
"It's like you really are crabs."
>>
>>24457475
"Okay... I think I've got it..."
Shuffle around the room a bit.
>>
>>24457475

"this is soooo, strange!"
>>
>>24457475
"Crabwalking!"
>>
Just turn sideways and treat it like your facing forward.
>>
>>24457475
<my sarvesh you seem to be turning blue again, it's fun to be able to see more expression in your face now...>
>>
<My, Sarvesh, you seem to be turning blue again.> you say. <It's fun to be able to see more expression in your face now.>
<I'm just... realizing exactly why Pheles has so many suitors.> He said, quietly.
"Okay." You buzz. "I think I've got it..."
You shuffle forward some more. "This is sooo strange!" You say.
"Walking on two legs is harder!" Pheles called back, wobbling forward. "You guys have like no balance at all. You have to lean waaay back just to shift your weight a little!"

Time passed, and a short time later, you and Pheles *think* you got the hang of walking. Theta had bright green hair by now, tied into a ponytail, and he was lounging back on your back, relaxing.
>>
>>24457603

stop walking, turn around, mess up theta's hair.

"when did you get on?!"
>>
"I wonder if I should keep the eyes... Any chance you could install some sort of IR filter as well, like shades? Or... Maybe I could make shades... Maybe integrate them?"
>>
>>24457603
"...I wonder if my cannon would be easier to fire in this form..."

"einstein activate projected CAD program I wish to do ENGINEERING"
>>
>>24457603
Wouldn't humans have really good balance actually? Just not be very stable in comparison.
>>
I honestly don't mind Theta messing around with our form too much. As long as he doesn't mess around with our mind we can put up with it as a price of being friends.

Like Heather's friends do to her being a complete flirt and technophile hah.
>>
>>24457720
I think we should find out Anna's favourite animal.

Then get Theta to monstergirl us.
>>
You stop tromping forward, and turn back to Theta. "When did you get on?!"
"Your back isn't very sensitive." He said, and knocked on the hard shell.
"I wonder if my cannon would be easier to fire in this form..." You say.
"Probably not." Sarvesh added.
"I wonder if I should keep the eyes." You say. "Maybe I could install some sort of IR filter as well, like shades? Or maybe I could make shades..."
"You haven't even played with your lower arms yet." Pheles said. "Human arms are like... a combination of both of our pairs. A lot stronger than the lower ones, and a lot more fingers than the upper ones."

You reach out with one of your lower arms- and it shot out, almost four feet forward. They seemed ball-jointed as well, and you were relatively certain you could try to grab your own rear ankle with it, reaching below your undercarriage.
"Anyway, I figure I'll leave you guys like this as long as you want." Theta said. "I subtly stole some samples for all of you guys beforehand, so I can turn you back exactly how you were."
>>
Anyway I can get a recap of the 50+ threads so I do not feel like I am walking in on the middle of a movie with no idea what is going on? Sort of want in on this

Your behind a lot, just read the threads, it would be easier.

We've gone over a loooooooooooooooooot of ground. What you can do is go through archives and ctrl-f Exabyte, and you'll just pull up the plot-relevant posts. I think you'll like it, this is a good quest.

"I much prefer my original body but this is a pretty fun experience. maybe change back after we meet your father, Sarvesh?"
>>
>>24457779
"Should probably change back before we leave, but until then I dunno. Might be kinda cool."
>>
>>24457779
To Theta: <Oh no, I hope you didn't mistakenly grab one of Summer's hairs off of my shirt, thus turning me into a catgirl like the plot of a bad movie. That would be just awful~>

>>24457815
>>24457819
Got ya, I will jump into the archives and try to catch up in time for next quest
>>
>>24457837
it won't take long, maybe 12 hours or so of constant reading :P
>>
Exabyte I love you and your quests.
I wish I could have your babies.

nah, probably no more then an hour if he skips all the suggestions.

"I don't think I'll be able to get used to the walking. It's like...pacman, or something."
>>
"I don't think I'll be able to get used to the walking. It's like... pacman, or something."
"Pacman?" Theta asked.
You shrug.
"I much prefer my original body, but this is a pretty fun experience." You say, shifting your weight. It seemed that your legs were the heaviest part of your body- a kick would do a lot of damage. "Maybe change back after we meet your father, Sarvesh?"
"Ugh, no." Sarvesh said. "I was hoping we'd get on our way before he gets here. He's nice and all, but he'll force us to stick around while he tries to set me up. Let's just... try to eat lunch, and then all of us change back. Okay? Everyone fine with that?"
"I'm okay with it." Pheles said.

You turn to Theta and telepath with him. <Oh no, I hope you didn't mistakenly grab one of Summer's hairs off of my shirt, thus turning me into a catgirl like the plot of a bad movie. That would be just awful~>
<Nope!> He said, and held up a small plastic bottle- like one of those ancient, ancient film canisters. <Skin flakes. And I can tell exactly what every bit looks like. I could tell Summer's hairs.>
>>
>>24457844
Sorry, I've dibs.
>>
hmm, I just realized we don't know how to pout at him in this form.

the fiend! He negated our greatest weapon!

"Okay, time to find out how centaurs taste."

>>24457915

>>
>>24457960

better safe than sorry.
>>
>>24457928
>No, this time he's actually directly 'speaking' to the voice in his head. He's following through on the connection you established, which nonpsions can do. It's not exactly a conscious thing.

"Okay, time to find out how centaurs taste!"
"I'll be making a ton of centaur food, then. And something for pheles, of course." He said.
You try your best to pout at Theta- and Pheles got a direct blast from it.
"Oh no, what did I do?" She asked. "I'm sorry!" She pulled you into another hug- or, to be more correct, she pulled herself into a hug with you.

<Aww.> You say.
<What, you *want* to become a mutant humancatgirl?> Theta asked. <Because I can do that. You'll just have to make it worth my while. It's less fun if I change people when they want me to change them.>
>>
>>24458001
<Yeah, I figured I'd turn into a humancatgirl to mess around with Anna. I'll give you details of how it goes in return.>
>>
>>24458001
><What, you *want* to become a mutant humancatgirl?> Theta asked. <Because I can do that. You'll just have to make it worth my while. It's less fun if I change people when they want me to change them.>
nah, man I'm just teasing you
>>
>>24458001
<I'll think of something!>

"Sorry, not aimed at you. Pouting is hard in this form."
>>
>>24458001

<was worth a shot.>

"I'm sorry, i didn't mean to! I just can't aim very well in this form."
>>
>>24458001
<Well, not right now.>
"Sorry Pheles, I didn't mean you. How do centaurs pout?"
>>
>>24458001
<How about learning telepathy?>
>>
>The technopathic worm has been decoded entirely. We... *believe* that we can allow a psion to learn new disciplines rather easily, as long as they have a 'teacher' with technopathy as well.
in light of this I suggest that we try to give rho/robin TK, after first consulting the D man on safety.
>>
"Sorry, I didn't mean to!" You say. "Pouting is hard in this form. How do centaurs pout?"
"The same way they smile, and flirt, and everything! Though their eyes."

<How about learning telepathy?> You asked him.
<I don't know how you'd teach me, but if you can, I'll do it.> Theta said.

Soon enough, Sarvesh came by with many less trays on his abdomen than usual, and set out something familiar- the first things he'd ever made for you. You picked it up with a lower arm carfully, and took a bite.

And poked yourself in the roof of the mouth on it, as your toothless jaw smacked down on it. It hurt, and you almost expected your eyes to water... but it seemed that centaur eyes didn't do that. Instead, with your mandibles, you carefully shredded it. It was almost fun to peel apart the layers, and then when it came time to taste-
You realized. Centaurs can hardly ever taste. It was... fun, but not quite delicious or anything.
"Oh my god." Pheles said, cramming a waffle in her mouth. "Thith is so good!"
>>
>>24458066
I think we should give Alex some actual powers beyond being boring first.
>>
>>24458137
>You realized. Centaurs can hardly ever taste. It was... fun, but not quite delicious or anything.
now sarvesh needs some human time

"Oh man, this is fun, but centaurs need tastebuds *so* bad."

giving rho TK should help with our debt to Sarvesh. HE want her to hate him less, and she's like that because she's jealous of his multipowers and ranged teleport.
>>
>>24458191
As long as it's not Telepathy. Rho with Telepathy will take passing thoughts of arousal or 'what if's' as 'consent'.
>>
>>24458137

"it's fun taking it apart but... i feel that i can't appreciate it as much as i should. I'm just too used to tasting."

"It's fun taking it apart, but... I feel that I can't appreciate it as much as I should. I'm just too used to tasting. Centaurs need tastebuds *so* bad."
"You're right, they do. Gimme a sec."
Theta closed his eyes, and focused on Sarvesh and you... and suddenly, you could taste the chocolate and cheese with a depth you didn't understand until now. Sarvesh's eyes widened as he ate, and then he started grabbing sweeter foods, biting them into strips with his mandibles and slowly eating some more waffles.
"... This *is* good!" He said. "This is delicious. I'm a fucking good cook!"
>>
>>24458208
I pick TK because of the character interview we had with her
>>
>>24458223
"Hurrah! That's the spirit!"
>>
>>24458223
yea every one tells you that like all the time...
>>
>>24458223

"Damn, Sarvesh! I think that's the first time I've ever heard you swear."
>>
>>24458255
but with out taste buds he couldn't tell what the fuss was about
>>
>>24458223

"now it feels like i never truly appreciated food before!"

"soooo good!"
>>
>>24458223
Giggle. Or whatever centaurs do for that.
"Yes, you are."
>>
"Damn, Sarvesh!" You say, and giggle "I think that's the first time I've ever heard you swear."
"Exactly." He said. "I saved up my swearing for this very moment." He said, and started stripping more waffles to consume.

Some time later, Pheles was sitting back, eyes closed, in some sort of food coma, while Sarvesh was cleaning up after lunch.
Theta leaned over next to you, and leered at Sarvesh. "Don't you want that sexy lady over there?" He whispered, chuckling. "Want to feel those soft plates rubbing up against your undercarriage, you hear her warble as you please her..."
>>
>>24458223

"Yeah, no. Sorry, the plates and undercarriage thing isn't really doing anything for me."

>>24458350
"Maybe if I hadn't promised Anna. But I did, so nope."

"are you suggesting I cheat on Anna? you have a strange sense of humor."
>>
>>24458350
"Poor Sarvesh, I don't think he'd know how to react to that."
>>
>>24458350
"Anna would shoot you, then me. So no."
>>
"As fun as that would be, I promised Anna." You say.
"Ohohoh~" He said. "Would you prefer Anna to be the one rubbing up against your undercarriage, writhing-"
"Stop. Cease!" You call, and he cackled.

"Cease what?" Sarvesh asked.
"Nothing!~" Theta responded.

You take a drink of water, lifting the glass to your mouth and just pouring it down your throat. Not being able to swallow was strange.

"Fine, fine. Who wants to be back to normal?" Theta asked, brushing off his hands. "I'll do you all one at a time this time."
"I think I might feel better if I turned back." Pheles said, raising a hand. "I think I ate too much."
"Alright! declothe!"
Pheles peeled off he clothing (And sarvesh averted his eyes), and then Theta focused, and Pheles became herself again, just a bit smaller than you were.
"You *are* pretty cute like this, you know." Pheles said, leaning close to you. "Handsome, even."
"Me next?" Sarvesh asked. Theta pointed at him, and you saw how large Sarvesh truly was- he dwarfed you and Pheles entirely.
>>
>>24458516
and now me! leave the eyes please though, I like them
>>
>>24458516
Squeak, or eep.
or both, in a strange mutation of sorts.
"My turn, keep the eyes though."
>>
>>24458516

"oooh, intimidating. Quick change me before someone think I'm here for Pheles!"
>>
We should find some IR blocking shades.
>>
>>24458516
"Wow, Sarvesh. You're huge!"
>>
"Wow, Sarvesh. You're huge!"
"I'm the same size I always was." He responded. You turn to Theta again. "My turn. Keep the eyes, though, I like them."
"I'll see if I can finagle them so that they look normal." He said, and focused... and you shrunk down, your carapace turning once again into flesh, your arms fusing together and dwindling. Sarvesh turned and looked directly away once you were human, but Theta didn't feel the need to avert his eyes as you got dressed.
"So, that's that. Sarvesh and Pheles, I kept your tastebuds at almost human level. If you're fine with that."
"Oh, yeah! Definitely." Sarvesh said.
"Sweet. Literally." Pheles added.
"And Heather, I might give you ears and a tail later, if I feel like it." He said, and shrugged. You pulled on the rest of your clothing, the shirt slightly stretched from Pheles wearing it, but you had your omnitool again.
>>
>>24458614
"Cool. What's the plan now?"
>>
>>24458614
"That was certainly an interesting morning."
>>
>>24458614

"where are we off to now?"
>>
"Cool." You say. "What's the plan now?"
"The plan now was to have Nerull show you around the Hii'gara." Sarvesh said. "But then Pheles did her whole bit and he's gone, so he can't show you anything. But what I can do is finish my Mysterious Device and let you all see what it is."
"I know what it is." Omnissiah said.
"Yeah, I know you know." Sarvesh said. "This way."

He led you through some of the clay domes into one with a staircase, downward, underground. Tromping down into the dark, you found a rather large cavern, struts and supports holding it up. Theta and you were looking around- you didn't expect there to be some sort of secret underground workshop to be here...
"This is my room." He said, and you saw the hugest beanbag you'd ever seen in your life, a pinup of a redhaired stripper on one of the walls, gadgets and parts covering a large table along the other end of the wall, and the second-largest trid screen you've ever seen in your life- the first largest being the one in the cinema at Cloud City.

"Sarvesh, this is one killer pad." You say. "You know how to furnish a place."
"Red hair, huh?" You ask.
"Yep." Sarvesh said.
"The last one had blue hair." Pheles said. "He has a collection of them hidden somewhere."
"Yeah." Theta said, eying the pinup, who was wearing a thong and covering her breasts with her hands. "Classy."

Pheles and you whumphed down onto the beanbag at the same time- it was so large that Sarvesh could even fit in it comfortably, and you lay there watching him. He had Omnissiah's drones fly out to get something from Surya, and brought in a strange, large device utilizing part of the demiurg bubble drive. He plugged a few things in, connected in a gadget...
"Omnissiah, how's the programming coming?"
"It's done." He responded.

"Good." Sarvesh said, and grabbed the device in all four hands. "Everyone, stand behind me."
He lifted up the device, and pulled the trigger... and the bubble drive components started firing dark particles... and you saw light bend into a sphere, not far from the front of the device. The 'heart' of the sphere was pure, utter black.
"Haha!" He called. "It worked! Throw something at it!"
Pheles tossed a screwdriver at it. It flew back at her at *exactly* the same speed. Sarvesh cackled.

"Holy shit, a kinetic inverter?!" You ask. "Sarvesh, you're the best!"
"That's what I thought too!"
"Awesome! Got any tests lined up for it?"
"Poke it with TK." Sarvesh said. "Shoot at it. See if we can widen the sphere and make it defract instead of reflect..."
"That last bit is entirely possible." Omnissiah said. "Hit that switch."
Sarvesh hit the switch, and the bubble drive plating wheeled back slightly- and the sphere turned into a disc, whirling clockwise. Pheles threw something else at it, and it went shooting off sideways.
"Holy shit, you've built a force field!"
"Even more." Sarvesh said. "It works with *light*."

You reach out to poke it with TK... and you don't feel anything as you do. You simply reach into it- and touch the wall to the side of the room, rather than the front end of the device itself. It'd ... turned your telekineis sideways.
"How? How?!?" You ask. "We need to make more! And mount them as point defense on Surya!"
"Here's the blueprints." Sarvesh said, and you took a look at it- it was pretty simple in theory- to throw enough particles with just enough charge to slightly condense space, and then send more particles to whirl around it at speed, bending it into a sphere. But... the complexity of the programming required...
And then your retrocog kicked in.
>"I will test how well I can do with full access to the Extranet." Omnissiah responded.

You open your eyes to look at Omnissiah.
"... I maaaay have had a little help from Omni." Sarvesh said.

You squee, and tug Sarvesh and Omnissiah into a hug. "You magnificent bastards, you!" You cry. "Can it form the sphere anywhere? If I wanted a forcefield on Surya, how many would I need?"
"The sphere is limited to either seven point five inches from the front end of the device, and at maximum width and deflection, the only range possible is twenty eight point two inches." Omnissiah said. "To cover Surya entirely with the sphere function, you would need... more than could fit. To cover surya with the disc function, you would need... three hundred and seven of them."
"Should we... fire the ion laser at it?"
"No." Sarvesh said. "It'd either slam back into it's own beam and explode, or it'd deflect sideways and melt my wall. The math holds up."
"As much as you could understand." Omnissiah responded.
"Yes, as much as I could understand."

"How's the energy drain?"
"As much as running a standard bubble drive on power saving mode." Omnissiah responded. "Not significantly. It would, however, take most of the power in Surya's engine if you intended to plant all three hundred and seven devices on the hull. Your remaining power for life support would take the remainder."
"Any way to increase the range, or decrease the device's size?" You ask.
"No." He responded.
"Even with a bigger drive core?"
"Even with. It's an unavoidable limitation."
"Hmm, if we mount one in a hardened turret, could you write tracking and interception programming Omni? We'd need a lot less of them that way."
"I could, but UPA bylaw prohibits turrets, as well as any other space-born weapon for those not authorized."
"What happens if the sphere moves into matter? It could make an awesome battering ram." You say.

Theta just watched, as Sarvesh moved the sphere into the table- and the table tore itself to shreds, sparks flying from the metal flechettes, lethal slivers as thin and as long as hairs shooting every direction. You catch them all with your TK as Sarvesh hastened to turn the device off.

"Oh, that sucks. I guess that means no ship forcefields, then."
"I could likely make you as many as you wish, with significant amounts of money." Omnissiah said. "Now that I've seen Sarvesh make it, I can recreate it much more quickly and possibly more miniaturized. I would also purchase a full complement of maintenance drones with which to build them."

"Speed of light *is* an absolute limit." Omnissiah said. "We simply use a loophole to travel faster. I am relatively certain, but not entirely certain."

<I'd rather not have you self destructing.> You say. I don't want you to die. You're my friend.>
Omnissiah was quiet.
<Once we're finished flying, I will give you a hug.> He said.

Some time later, Omnissiah pulled out of bubble drive, and you saw the station. The enormous liner that the councilors all took was still there, as was... Wyvern, also connected to the hub. Strange, it seemed Renard was off...

"We're almost there." Omnissiah said.
"Really? Glad to hear it." Theta said. "Because I should be able to wake Lambda up in a few days. Maybe even tomorrow, if I really work at it."
Sarvesh just stretched, raising his arms as high as they would go. "I want to go make more things."

"We should start a research and development firm." You tell him.
"No, no, I meant food." Sarvesh said, and chuckled. "Now that I can taste, I need to taste as much as I can."

You eye Wyvern, and close your eyes, focusing for Anna- and you catch a ping in her room, in the dorms. You weren't quite able to reach her with technopathy or telepathy from this far without Renard and Einstein's help, though.

The ship slid into the hangar, and carefully eased down... and then Omnissiah's dock lifted again, and his drone popped out. Then you gave him a hug as he gave you one.

<Anna, you're back?> You ask, finally able to reach her.
<... I came back a day early.> She said, quietly. She sounded... guilty. <... We should.. we should probably talk about how I'm a horrible person now. Could you come to my room?>

<A... Anna?> You ask. <I'll be right there.>

"Sorry boys, gotta fly." You say.

You climbed out of Surya, and made your way through the dorms. You finally made it to Anna's room, and make your way inside.
She stared at the floor.

"... I thought they would've left by the time I got here, but.. well... I... I slept with Kiernan." She said, still quietly. She looked... small.
"I'm a fucking hypocrite."

Anna is allowed to sleep around under the following conditions:

3.) Heather is allowed to sleep with others under the same conditions.

Am I the only one who's annoyed at this because it feels like a way to propagate the annoying as fuck relationship carousel that has been going on? I was pushing for Sarvesh way back when and actually quit reading because it looked like high-school romance hijinks 24/7 was lined up, only returned because the archive summaries made it look like actual relationship stuff was happening, putting a stop to the endless flirting and excuciating arguments, and meaning more plot.

If this leads straight to break-up town, call when you run a non-harem focused quest instead.

>>

jeesh, such a hot issue.

>>24460795

>>
Let's think about this for a moment. Heather is a pretty open girl, who flirts with everyone. She's in an open relationship with D and Anna wants in, but she wants D out. She requests that H goes steady. Then she breaks that.

So we can be mad at Anna for holding double standards and being a hypocrite, but the cheating itself isn't really something that would annoy Heather quite that much. It's more the betrayal of fairness.

So we ask her why, and what happened, and get angry, but we give her a chance to talk.

Still blacklist her from the ice cream machine, because I'm feeling petty.
>>
>>24460816

>>24460808
I didn't mind Anna winning (she was my second choice) I just REALLY didn't want the carousel/harem option because it drags down the quest like fuck. except for with human version of his sister that he obviously had an awkward boner over.

This is a good jumping off point, but even if she didn't outright tell him she was seeing someone, there's still all sorts of body language things he could've just steamrolled through because he wanted to get his dick wet and Anna was just too much of a pushover to stop him.

The best plan is to go to iso and get some answers. Anna seems awful willing to just take full responsibility, but we've heard her shit-talk him enough that we're probably going to want to get a better idea of how things went down for ourselves.

That, and hey, Recall practice.

Guys. Don't take it so personally.
From HEATHER'S (Not yours, Heathers's) perspective, the cheating itself isn't so bad. It's the hypocrisy that's the problem.
Going down to iso makes sense in character. Petty vengance does not.

She winced.
"But you. Lied to me." You say. "You asked something of me that you weren't willing to do yourself and lied. And that hurt. I don't like being lied to by people I trust."

You turn, and leave the room.
"I need some time alone."
Then you slam shut the door, and make your way down the ramps to the lowest level, and make your way toward the isolation chamber.
Einstein blindly followed, as usual.

Uuuugh, you know, the worst thing is, this isn't even the worst plot point possible. You can do a lot with the 'cheated with an ex' storyline. But it only works when the story is limited to that romance, rather than the casual setup in this quest so far - the likely options here seem to be 'break up and never get together again', making this cheap and pointless drama, and 'break up and get together after resolving nothing because players were just fooling around with others instead of actually working through characterization and shit', making this, again, pointless.
>>
>>24461128

Fuck, this just pisses me off.

I so wanted Anna, almost gave up when Exa announced casual no set romance setup, and when it actually happens, this takes place before it even goes anywhere, and I can't believe anons would let them get back together now. Fuck.

I'd feel worse about dropping a quest over waifushit if it wasn't all the quest seems to be about.

>>

>After that, maybe mind probe to see if she's actually sorry?
This seems unnecessary; she seemed pretty damn regretful from where I'm standing.

It's mostly a matter of figuring out whether her having been stewing in self-loathing over the whole ordeal was tainting her perception of what actually happened.

No sense in her wanting to take 100% of the blame if she's not 100% the cause.

I just wanted some non-romance stuff. Did anyone ACTUALLY enjoy the constant arguments that happened earlier in the quest, especially just prior to/after Exa made the 'no single LI' decision? I hated it so much, the constant flirting posts and Li arguments. And I hoped maybe it was over now, and other than the occasional romantic scene it could be more plot/characterization/hijinks, since it would only pop up when interacting with one character instead of damn near every one.

But no. Back in the carousel we go, and I'm jumping out before it starts anew.

Still furious, you set it to three hours and climb in, slamming shut the chamber. Almost instantly, the hissing started up, and you lifted into the air as null gravity pushed you into the air. From there, you curled up your legs, closed your eyes, and started... drifting.

Six hours ago, Tromping through the halls, Hound followed his charge and her daughter for quite some time. They stopped off in her bedroom and talked, stopped off in the cafeteria and talked, and then he saw something in his periphreal camera. Spider. She walked into one of the dorms.
"Hey, Sir?" He asked.
"Yes?" His charge responded.
"Can I take my leave for a bit? I want to talk to an old friend."
"Oh, go ahead." He responded. Hound took off his stuffy, broken helmet- he'd had to take out the humidity controls entirely.
Then he made his way, and knocked on the door.
"Yeah?" Anna asked.
"Hey, it's me." Hound said.
"No, fuck off." She responded.
"You're not even going to talk to me? Not even a little?"
"Of course not. You're not welcome here."
He sighed. "Newt told me that you made a few friends here. I wanted to hear what you thought of them. I remember you used to hate talking to civvies. What happened to that?"

"Hah, fuck you." She responded, in a much, much more casual tone than before.
"So. Can I come in?"
"Nope." She said.
He sighed, shrugged, and pulled the door open, closing it behind him.

As heather, suddenly, your vision blurred, and and moved, sometime forward.

"... and then she was all 'can I touch it?' I mean, it is a *really* cool fusion cannon." Anna was saying, and Hound chuckled. Both of them had sodacans in their hands, and Anna was sitting on the bed. Hound's exosuit was still on, but his helmet was on the desk.
"She sounds cool!" He said. "Her thing is, uh, technology, right?"
"Yeah, it is." Anna said.
"Well, because I think I could ask her to fix my humidity settings. Because they're kind of busted and I have no clue why."
Anna suddenly giggled, closing her eyes. "Sounds like exactly the sort of thing she'd do. Set it high enough to be uncomfortable, maybe even lock down your suit clasps or something."

Everything blurred again, and time moved on.

Finally, Anna and Hound were both sitting, empty cans near them- they'd moved on to some of the beer from Anna's stash. The lights were turned down, and Hound was laughing.
"And then he... no, listen." Hound was saying. "And then he was all 'look at me!' and pulled the trigger, and the entire thing *exploded* in his hands. He went flying, his suit's arm was all messed up, and we had to cut him out of it after that." He said. "That was before I left blackreach, though."
"Why did you leave blackreach?" Anna asked.
"Well... things went bad." He said. "The command chain was all fucked up after Bear had his whole... thing, and they put me under some newbie. I think he went by Hawk or whatever? Couldn't stand him, so I left."
"That was it?" She asked. "I thought you left because we broke up."
"That was it." He said, and sighed. "You know, I don't know why we never really talked. See, here we are, not doing anything, and we're not killing eachother. Nobody's dying at all, in fact, due to this chance meeting."
"Yet." Anna added, pink cheeked.

"No, no, get out, get-"
"You don't remember the good times we shared?" He asked, his voice low. He kissed her on the forehead.
Anna was silent for a bit longer. Hound took that moment to push her to her bed, slipping a suddenly suitless hand up her shirt-

Bear in mind, he's likely still on the station with the councillors. So, if his suit suddenly ripped him in two, somehow bypassing all safety, we'd be the main suspect instantly.
>>
>>24461994
If he is then he's also the one who tried to kill us most likely.
>>
>>24461997
>>24462006
I don't think we should break him. Though sending a message to him and Newt telling them that if you ever see Hound again you'll shatter every bone in his body is fine.
>>
>>24462009
Max is fallible.
>>
>>24461933
Gonna say that in character, I don't think Heather would view
>"No, no, get out, get-"
as an invitation to keep going, to the extent that it pretty much IS at least partially his fault.

Obviously we are very disappoint in Anna for not putting her foot down. She's not off the hook or anything, but I feel like if we're going to be angry at Anna, there's a zero percent chance we're not mad at Hound in character also.
>>
>>24461976
Yeah, that's part of what annoys me, too. Arbitrarily ruined any chance of getting the romance option that I was rooting for.

I mean, it's not a big enough issue to make me stop reading the quest, but it seems like kind of a dick move.

>>
>>24462039
Alex don't count, he's Void
>>
>>24461994
That seems pretty damn unlikely. Max smelled him, Jilly kept her mind open for anything like that, and Anna's known him for a while, she would probably know if he was psionic.

>>24462039
The chances of him having the same abilities as Alex and being able to control them properly and do other stuff seem astronomically unlikely.
>>
>>24461976
Thank you. This is straight on the mark. What a waste of time. Nobody will ever go for Anna again, and it'll be the pathetic arguments thread after thread.
>>
>>24462027
>>"No, no, get out, get-"
this makes it at least half the hound's fault, so we make him suffer
>>
>>24462037
Annafags shoulda seen this coming. The signs were clear from a mile away. They were displayed in big, neon colored lights.
>>
>>24462001
Possibly. But there's been plenty of arguing about LIs in this quest before, this whole thing is just an invitation for anyone not a fan of Anna to shit on her. In fact, Anna's probably most prone to this out of all the LIs - Jilly/Summer have no history and would be unlikely to cheat, as would Sarvesh, and Anna obviously gets more hate than Damien/Alex/etc would if they cheated since she cheated with a ~guy~ ewwwww.
>>
>>24462039
Because Alex's psionics countered his psionics.
Unless Hound is the Void Queen or some shit, I really don't think he's psionic.
>>
>>24462051
>Void
He's not.
>>
If we want to handle this in a healthy, responsible, and adult way, it cannot be about Heather. It has to be about Anna. Because Heather cannot move forward until she can trust Anna or break it off with Anna.

So in order to make any decision, we need to know where Anna is. Does she love Hound? Does she love Heather? Does she not know? Once that's established, we can decide what the right thing to do is. Even if that potentially means breaking it off with Anna.

Violence and/or retribution is not a good decision for anyone involved.

Of course, this is all assuming that we want Heather to be acting like an adult here.
>>
You get to your feet, pull on your clothing, and get to your feet, walking out into the hallway. Your mind is chaotic, and you can't stop thinking...
"Heather, there you are." Sarvesh said.

You walked right past him, and into the workshop, tools in hand.
Not long later, Sarvesh had food for you.
Not long after that, he was asking you to sleep.
Einstein chirped, signalling something to you- a tip of the day, it looked. Didn't quite matter.
Some time after that, Omnissiah was the one bringing you food. He said that Sarvesh was at class, apparently.
And some time after that, Theta grabbed your wrist...

And then... Summer slapped you.
"Heather!" Her manifestation said. She was standing right next to Theta, and Lambda, both worried.

Behind you was a military exosuit, spanking top of the line, at around 80% completion.
"... I still remember that song." Lambda said, his limbs all intact. "The one you sang for me."
>End of thread!

Agreed, but I think a relationship with Anna is definitely out of the picture.

Forgiving someone you've been with for years because they cheat on you one time in a moment of weakness is forgiveable and can be salvaged.

Cheating on someone within a week suggests that Heather was never that important to her in the first place.

>>
>>24462155
No, for thousands of reasons. Here, I'll give you some - I even agree with several!

1: Open relationship != waifuing. Lots of people are 0% interested in having Heather fucking random people, or multiple romances going. Why would they? They're invested in her interactions with character X, having her interact equally with character Y cheapens that.

2. Personally I hate casual/open relationships in quests because they provide nothing. At least monogamous romance can provide heaps of character-development and gives you a dynamic that can be used for plot-points (this one we just saw is an example - note how it completely fails to do anything but shove the consensus away from doing anything with Anna, where-as in a regular romance it would just be really good opportunities for character development and stuff). Meanwhile, open relationships/relationship carousels/harems are inevitably horrible at this, not letting the readers get invested in a relationship (since it's a bit part overall) and mostly coming off as 'let's please everyone'/fanservice rather than something actually contributing to the story.

3. Also, I'd far prefer as little romance stuff as possible because A: not that interested in it compared to the plot, and more importantly, B: it causes what we see tonight, a mega-shitstorm of arguments, at regular intervals, and even at other times, the thread is filled with this stupidity. Flirty options win at every turn, and the quest becomes unreadable. This is why I'm dropping this after tonight, I was already lured in again once at the promise of steady relationship after Exa's initial 'do whatever' decisions re. romance, I'm not getting lured in again.
>>
>>24462078
can we just skip all character interaction and just build thing with Omni from now on.

because that's best end in my book.
>>
>>24462230
did anyone notice in the flash-back that the reason Hound left Blackreach was different than the one anna gave us when rho first mentioned him?
>>
Exabyte! This would be the perfect time to pause this quest and start up your next one!

>>24462297
I did. She told us he was kicked out for civilian casualties. Which was apparently a lie to make him seem more villainous to us.
>>
>>24462263
A doormat would just get back together with her immediately. We're talking about giving her the cold shoulder, then forgiving her if she apologizes. No more than that. The consensus for this line of thought is to only give her a single chance, not as many times as she'd like to go suck a dick.
>>
>>24462285
Not any more.
>>
>>24462297
now that you mention that didn't hound get kicked out for excessive killing

Alright, here's the thing.
Hound and Anna have Issues. You guys know this, you knew this from the very get go. She was overoffensive when it came to him, and there was always something there that you guys never properly investigated. then when it came time for you to meet Hound, you... didn't. You decided to mess with how uncomfortable he was and never said a single *word* to him.
It wasn't forced and it wasn't something that just 'came out of nowhere', it was always there waiting for you to seek it out, and you didn't. So it happened.
>>
This thread has deeply disturbed me.

I tryed, people shouted me down
>>
>>24462393
I knew it. I fuckin' knew it. This is all on the players.
>>
>>24462297
This is probably because he was the first relationship she ever had, and this was during her "ice queen" phase. When he dicked it up, she went straight to "all of my hate"-mode, and immediately started replacing all of the good shit about him with "OMG HOUND IS THE WORST" mental block propaganda shit.

Which is partially why when he shows up again after Anna has mellowed considerably, and suddenly Hound seems like a marginally reasonable human being, she sort of goes "hey, right, I guess I was kind of a bitch back in the day."

And then he makes a move on her, and all the mental processes lock up again, and after all is said and done, she's right back to "fuck, Hound ruined everything AGAIN, but this time I should've known better, fuck my life."

Which is part of why not giving her the cold shoulder forever is probably a good idea, since otherwise she's just going to regress to her old roots, augmented by a healthy dose of "fuck, why do I bother getting close to people, everything just gets ruined forever".

The whole situation is kind of fucked, and Heather should probably be able to notice that after the initial anger and technological diversioning gets done with.
>>
>>24462393
Considering how...violent she was towards Hound, I figured she wouldn't have come back while there was a chance he was around.
>>
>>24462396
Yeah, all this "break his foot" shit is creepy. Especially because Heather has already proved herself prone to murderous insanity. See: Void Sphere to the hull of the ship, nuking the Scythe People Planet, etc.
>>
>>24462393
I don't think people were expecting you to drag Anna back onto his dick with quite such speed. A little more build up would've been nice.
>>
>>24462443
No, she intentionally lied to us, to make Hound seem like the devil to us. Because they have issues.
>>
>>24462462

>>
I'm interested Exa, if you're still reading, what was your plan with this plot going into the story and tonight's thread? I'm not criticizing anything - from an isolated standpoint, this is an actual good if very worn romance plot after all. But surely after your initial decision re. romance in this quest (especially the reason for it) you must have seen that there's almost a 100% chance that this closes off the Anna romance for good.

So, did this make you hesitate to continue, is it merely an unfortunate effect of forging ahead with a long-planned development that you'd have preferred to avoid, but can't do anything about, or even a way to ensure Heather doesn't get permanently hitched and you have similar things lined up for every LI, or what?

It's interesting since this is pretty much a perfect example of (assuming you weren't sabotaging intentionally) a good plot used in the absolute worst environment, from what I can see.
>>
>>24462396
>If you feel the need to hurt someone else purely because you yourself are hurt that is not normal
It's perfectly normal. Most people repress that urge. Actually going through with it instead of leaving it at thinking "god I would so love to punch him right now" is where you get into sociopath territory.
>>
>>24462457
>"break his foot" shit

>>
>>24462490

>>
>>24462393

>>24462517

>>
>>24462479
It doesn't actually close off the Anna option, if people look at it from this >>24462393 perspective.

Both sides were at fault.
>>
>>24462393
No, fuck off. That's bullshit. You'd made it clear that she had issues regarding him, yes, but there were TONS of hints that they weren't due to residual attraction, but rather from betrayal (cheating, break-up, his murder issues), and frankly, we were barely given any chance to look into this.

Look Exa, we were dating her for only about 6 threads, and not interacting lots before that. Because of YOUR decision not to focus on one romance, we had our hands full interacting with people and advancing plot, so going in-depth with it before he even showed up was way too much to demand. And when he does show up, you EXPLICITLY have Anna avoid him while he's there AND have us go off to Sarvesh's planet making us have no reason to suspect that he'd be an immediate issue. How the fuck can you say we were too slow?
>>
>>24462531
They're also smaller and more fiddly, with more articulation (And therefore less alignment margin).
>>
I feel more bad for Anna than anyone else right now.

She's incredibly confused and hurt, she's going through a good bit of self-loathing, she doesn't know what she wants, and she has to watch someone she cares about go through a self-destructive fugue state because of what she did, which will only make her feel even worse.

She hates herself because she's a hypocrite, she hates herself for liking the sex, she hates herself for hurting Heather, and to top it off she hates herself because Heather is hurting herself by not sleeping or eating to deal with it.

Girl need some love in her life right about now. And it'd mean a hell of a lot more if it came from Heather.
>>
>>24462512
>Well I guess Heather is almost as much at fault as Anna, then.
How high are you right now?
>>
>>24462551
>Heather is at fault for not sorting out all of Anna's issues for her.

That's not a relationship though, that's one party being incapable of living their own life.
>>
>>24462479
I suspect he looked at us NOT doing like he'd planned and saying "well SHIT now I have to improv!!!!!!!!!!!!" so he took his knowledge of the NPCs and made a GM decision. he made things happen BECAUSE IT IS HIS ROLE IN THIS GAME.

he complained about it in the first two quests, by the third he'd stopped bothering to predict our exact actions because it was fucking impossible.

I remember when he said that AMY TOLSTOY was supposed to be an ANTAGONIST and looked what actually happened.
>>
>>24462558
Do not pity the heretic.
>>
>>24462558
Girl needs to think about what she did. If she's so hooked up on Hound that she'd jump back into bed with him that quickly, she isn't ready for a relationship with anyone, let alone Heather.
>>
>>24462575
Ha! We were supposed to break out of our corporation and fight it. We turned that plan rightly upside its head.
>>
>>24462479
This was an unfortunate sideaffect of me forging ahead with a long-planned development. There's a lot more to it I can't say because spoilers, but great portions of Anna's personality revolved around her issues with Hound, and I couldn't let her stay undeveloped. Things wouldn't end on a satisfactory note in that case- it wouldn't even end. It would just fall flat.
>>
>>24462558
Which is why she should stew in her own suffering for a while, then get one chance to make up for her mistake. But only that one.
>>
>>24462558
If she cares about Hound as much as she seems to, the last thing she needs is a relationship with Heather. It'll just make all her issues worse.
>>
>>24462393
So I'm expecting you have similar bombs ready for everyone else ready then, Exa? Please tell me how not dealing with Damien's stuff would make him cheat on us. Oh what's that, only Anna gets that vial of poison if we don't make sure to confront this thing on extremely short notice, you say? Everyone else is unlikely to have anything that would make readers hate them happen? Sounds fair.

As caustic as the writing is, >>24462553 makes a valid point in that the hints that she had issues with hound were 100% there, but any kind of time-limit lacked indication - no, in fact it was far more explicitly stated that he wouldn't be an issue this time around (Anna not being there, other plot happening, first time meeting him) than it was that her issues were more than the betrayal she felt regarding him.

Also, the plot still falls flat because now everyone who liked Anna as a LI will have a fucking miserable time in this quest, and almost guaranteed not to have a relationship with her any longer.

I also question whether any of the other LI's would have as bad bombs waiting in the wings if we fuck up, unless they're all cheaters.

Hoboy, I can't be the only one hoping that Anna disappears from the quest after this.

I don't want to have to put up with this full-fledged warfare whenever something anna-related comes up for the rest of the quest.
>>
>>24462614
I dunno; I felt like the whole thing with Heather agreeing to a monogamous relationship would've been more important to the calculation than it seemed to be.

Like, I could easily see them hooking up had Heather balked even slightly on the monogamy front, but considering the core reason (that we know of) that Anna was so down on Hound was that he cheated on her, I feel like even under duress, that facet of her personality would've counted for more.

Yeah, because every single character is exactly identical with the same issues, personality and quirks, so they're all apt to cheat on heather with Hound of all people. Sarvesh woulda' just rolled onto his back and let him have it!

>>24462645
Yes, yes there were. There were a lot of things I could've done better. I got that now.

>>24462735
Most of them had bombs, but none were nearly as bad.
>>
>>24462720
Obviously you don't into teenager.
This kind of drama happens all the time in high schools. You get angry, give them the cold shoulder, then make up if both parties haven't already moved on.
Then it happens again.
And again.
And again.
Then you go to college and your SO moves halfway across the country and you lose touch and break up for good.
>>
>>24462735
I don't get it. She pulled a pretty big favor for us with the engine then goes and fucks it all over with this? Doesn't make sense.

>>24462763
>Sarvesh woulda' just rolled onto his back and let him have it!
WELL, IN BEFORE THE NEXT SMUT PASTEBIN.

Life ain't fair, Annafags. Deal w/ it.
>>
>>24462779
No, I just wasn't a whore in high school.
Or in college.
It's called willpower. Everyone has it in varying degrees. You use it to resist base urges. It's worth a google.
>>
>>24462780
Because she still isn't over Hound.

Just think, all the times she was with Heather she was dreaming about Houndcock.
>>
>>24462614
Here's the thing Exa, we had little indication that we fucked up at all (yes, it needed addressing, but I'd imagine most posters, like me, were planning to address it AFTER he was gone, since we had every reason to believe it wouldn't be an issue yet), and as punishment for what's a minor oversight at most, a relationship with Anna is torpedoed.

Ignoring the issue with how harsh that is on its own, how do you think people who were cheering for Anna feel WRT the other LIs here? I can't believe they'll suffer as badly in the eyes of the general public as Anna did if we fuck up there, and that feels unfair as hell.
>>
>>24462791
I'm not even an Annafag, I just hate that this thread (and probably a dozen more to come) have gone to shit because of this development.
>>
>>24462735
I'm pretty sure everyone has their own set of issues, though not necessarily romantic ones.

Sarvesh has his set of inadequacy issues, Summer has the Imaginary Sister thing, Alex has his issues with us, though he seems to be getting over that with Jilly, Jilly probably has her own pile of issues regarding sexuality and relationships, Damien is a blind seer who doesn't like his father one bit and is traumatized by all the horrible stuff he's seen and not been able to do anything about.

Everyone is fucked up in their own way. Even Max.
>>
>>24462746
You aren't.

Anything relating to Anna now will be tainted with drama.

So much drama.
>>
>>24462828
Max is a dog with human levels of intelligence. I'd hate to have his instincts.
>>
>>24462763
Oh, so Anna gets the bad seed, and of course she also gets the really short time-limit (how were we supposed to know that it needed dealing with when we'd barely started dating and had every reason to believe that it could wait until monday). Guess we were going for hard-mode!
>>
>>24462843
its actually a bit worse, hes a wolf. Anytime he sees someone acting lame he is gonna have to repress the urge to tear out their throat.
>>
>>24462746
As an Annafag, I sort of agree. Not only has the romantic option I was in support of just been rendered toxic, it is now assured to explode in our faces whenever it is bought up again.

Hell, even if we'd gone with Damien or Sarvesh I would have been fine with it because it would stop the waifu shitstorming, the fact that the winner was also my choice was just a bonus. But I guess we can say hello to massive, thread spanning waifu wars again, only now the Anna faction has been split in two as well.

I am curious as to whether Exa sees a problem here, and if so, what is going to be done about it.
>>
>>24462791
Nah. Exa probably noticed the recent threads weren't getting 500 replies, so he decided to stir it up in the most forced way possible.
>>
Stop WHINING oh my gooood. It was SOOO OBVIOUS and you were just blind. ACCEPT IT. Move on.
>>
>>24462828
Time for space adventures with Max and Omni, no secondary characters, only tertiary and heather, month long trip to talk to aliums.
>>
>>24462878
YEEESSSSSS!
>>
>>24462828
Yeah, and literally none of those are remotely comparable. Are you seriously trying to say Summer's sister issues or needing to deal with Jilly issues wrt sex (not that she seems to have any big ones judging by her and Alex taking a tumble) would make posters dislike them, much less discard them as sluts and completely shutting down a relationship? Please.
>>
>>24462876
Accept the shit that'll fuck up the rest of the quest with bullshit arguments? No thanks.
>>
Considering all the stuff she did for Heather, I think it makes sense to at least give her a chance. It's obvious that she wasn't really thinking straight (no pun intended) when it happened. Still mostly her fault, but it wasn't premeditated, so forgiving her is an option. Of course, she's not going to be calling any shots in that case.
>>
>>24462901
Life ain't fair. Some people's problems are worse than others. Shit happens.
>>
>>24462915
Doesn't mean you have to accept it all.
>>
>>24462810
dude, as minor oversights go this one still wasn't bad, less indication was given before a great number fatal building collapses.

>>24462852
or we picked the hardest potential GF by coincidence

stranger things have happened
>>
>>24462912
Yeah, it does, not gonna happen though, because people aren't judging the relationship in a vacuum (where this plot works) but instead will pounce on an opportunity to advance their favorite at the expense of others, and Anna's lost too many points with this to have much of a chance.
>>
>>24462763
Now the question is whether or not this thing can be salvaged without inflicting further damage. I don't envy you, having that task.

Even with the mistakes, I still have to thank you for taking the time of day to write this shit for us.
>>
>>24462843
Wolf, not dog, a fucking wolf. Wild predator and pack hunter, without a pack.

And he wasn't uplifted early like Summer who is pretty much a normal girl who happens to be tigertastic, he has the instincts and drives of a wolf while being completely segregated from most of his kind due to being of human intelligence.

>>24462901
People's problems don't always match up. But everyone has their own problems that could have, and could still, blow up in our face if we don't handle it right.

I probably just scratched the surface for some of the characters and their issues.

Yeah, Anna's are bad, might be the worst of the lot, but that doesn't mean that the other people's problems are irrelevant.

On a side note, I think that Heather should probably take some time off of romantic relationships, and also visit her parents to talk about this, get some Mom/Dad hugs.
>>
>>24462912
Except the option has just become nuclear, and advocates of every other LI will now jump at the chance to discard it.
>>
You know, looking at this from a non-relationship perspective, this doesn't bode well for the quest. It was already awful in periods with the constant arguments/flirting, and with this drama added on top, I'm not eager to see what threads look like from now on.

Pity, since from a meta perspective, the last few threads have been among the more civil and, other than the date thread, more plot/platonic relationship focused so far.
>>
>>24462968
>Heather tells parents, Dragon swears vengeance.
>>
>>24462868
Yeah, I see the problem here. I saw it a little too late. I'd retcon it if I could, but I already used my one 'it was a dream' token for the rest of my life.

It was always part of 'the plan' and I didn't see the potential problems of this bit until I was writing 'okay now we're coming into the station wat do'. Yeah, I didn't put much thought into it, which I definitely should have. I did fuck up here. And I'll probably fuck up a lot more in a lot more ways,.

I may or may not be able to salvage things. No clue.
>>
>>24462988

Don't take our overreaction too harshly, Exa. I'm only one anon, but I'm still interested to see where this goes. You've taken us this far, I'm willing to keep going.
>>
>>24462988
salvage it like you salvaged vale q

which is to say not at all
>>
I just wanted to post that, as an Anna-fag, this made me very sad - not the cheating, but the inevitable reaction. I wish you'd reconsidered or at least made it more obvious Exa. Don't think I can follow any more, the constant Anna arguments would kill my enjoyment too much. Hope you have fun with the rest of the quest and I'll look forward to your next one!
>>
>>24462988
You mean you didn't actually plan the dream sequence? You were actually in the process of murdering the entire cast at the time?

Because that's pretty funny if nothing else.
>>
>>24462979
I don't know if any other LI will really go for Heather before Anna tries to make up.
Jilly is taken.
Alex is taken.
Sarvesh gave up on Heather and moved on.
Summer might, but she's friends with Anna too, and might just want to avoid the drama.
>>
>>24463038
Damien is very casual, probably doesn't want to antagonise Anna, and may or may not be taken by Theta.
>>
>>24462988
>I already used my one 'it was a dream' token for the rest of my life
You were actually trying to kill off the whole cast? Where were you actually going with that? Now I'm really curious.
>>
>>24463038
No relationships, space adventure with the wolf, the AI, and the reporter.
>>
>>24463033
Pretty sure he's saying that using the same trope twice during the same story is going a bit too far.

Like "oh, now EVERYTHING bad that happens is just going to get retconned until we kiss it better"
>>
>>24463038
I'd be surprised if Sarvesh isn't going to lose his shit at Anna when he hears about this, considering he purposefully lost that fight for Anna's sake.
>>
>>24462988
While I respect your descison, I'm not sure 'it was all a dream' could actually make things worse at this point. At least, noticeably so.
>>
>>24463051
>Damien is very casual, probably doesn't want to antagonise Anna, and may or may not be taken by Theta.
thought he was with sigma now
>>
>>24463076
Right. Stupid Greek letters. Regardless, he's fucking the alphabet, and probably doesn't want in on the drama.
>>
>>24463076
Who knows, everyone seems to be pairing up.

Looks like it's Sarvesh or Summer, as far as I can tell.
>>
>>24462988
The funny thing is, I was actually disappointed you went with 'it's all a dream' last time (got over it though), while I'd be ecstatic if you pulled it now. Ah, lady luck not with me in this quest.
>>
>>24462988
I think you can salvage the situation.

Just have the next thread based around the other characters talking to Heather about the issue. Parents, Summer, Damien, etc. Mellow your audience out, make sure that everyone knows that this won't lock anything in, or lock anything out, and give them time to come up with a reasonable, in character response.
>>
>>24463018
>>24462988
>>24463023
track records show that while you include romance more than I'd like you still pump quests out of a high quality and regardless of other things I'll be here tomorrow once I get out of the senior design conference.

>>24463033
he's done similar before

he probably started planning the "it was all a dream" half way through the breakdown....

>>24463068
I wonder how omnisiah will take it
>>
Come on people! We already knew we chose hard mode by pursuing Anna, we can't let a little thing like unresolved feelings from a prior relationship stop us now!
>>
>>24463104
Oh shit, just realised that. Anna gave Omnissiah shit about the danger of hurting Heather.

Then Anna hurt Heather.
>>
>>24463033
>>24463055
... No comment.

>>24463070
>>24463099
I could, but then nothing I ever write again would be taken seriously because everyone (including me) would just think 'oh it can just be a dream again ha ha!' And that's the sort of slippery slope I want to avoid.
>>
>>24463070
I think it would make things worse.
Like we appreciated Sarvesh sacrificing himself for us because we knew he would actually do it, we now know that Anna would cheat on us at the drop of a hat. And if we do actually prevent it she doesn't even know why we're mad at her.
>>
>>24463122
"Ok, Niss. Lesson 2 in Having Free Will: Shit sucks sometimes! But it's still better than the alternative!"
>>
>>24463103
I still doubt it. Frankly, I figure it's too much - I'd bet there were already lots of people who preferred non-Anna relationships, but just went with things passively since their option had no chance and Anna was pushed by others. They're unlikely to let it happen again though. I can hope I guess. Agh, so frustrating since I love these kinds of plots in single-relationship quests, but have no confidence in it getting properly resolved, much less the relationship bouncing back, in this one.
>>
>>24462988
I can understand that. Dream retconning would be a great thing to do, but it might cheapen everything.

No, you need to keep going and salvage this, somehow. I'm sure you can.
>>
>>24463153
You have more faith than I.

I envy you.
>>
Ha! Anna wakes up to heather glaring at her in the middle of the night " w-what?" " I had a dream you cheated on me..."
>>
>>24463146
I'm more curious as to whether this will be Omni's first experience of being angry with someone.

We might want to be careful in case he overreacts and does something extreme.
>>
>>24463132
That's true, I'm just biased since everyone I like other than Anna are unavailable (Jilly in relationship, the Greek letters seemingly not too interested) or seemingly not too popular (Summer). And frankly I'm just not gonna be very invested in any of your quests that feature relationships when I know things can get fucked over like this in seemingly an instant.
>>
>>24462988
The fact that you see the problem is enough for me.

As long as you know what you did wrong, I maintain hope that you can fix it and come up with a conclusion that is satisfying for all parties involved. Dunno about the others, but this reader isn't going anywhere.
>>
>>24463196
Don't worry. My next one likely won't have any sort of relationship at all, unless you guys force it.

Although I'd rather we actually focus on killing the voidqueen/meeting aliums.

/tg/ will romance ANYTHING.

>>
>>24463196
I personally like Sarvesh, I just like the guy.

But I'm on board for Heather taking a break from relationshipping, calming down, being happy as a single person, getting her head on straight, and then looking at getting back into a relationship once she's had some time.

>>
>>24463243
Yes. Take the focus off romance and give the playerbase a chance to cool off.

Heather has been hurt too much to think about being in a relationship for a while. Maybe, eventually, but certainly not for a while.

In the meantime, space adventures with a side order of robotics/engineering.
>>
>>24463288
>also, I notice that regardless of main character gender we've consistently hooked up with the chick, I wonder if that says anything about the people who follow your quests...

Actually, that was one of the main reasons I was a big proponent of Heather hooking up with Damien. I thought it would make a nice change.

>>
>>24463416
Refreshing, and the world/characters weren't bad either, pity that the concept was so stupid.
>>
>>24463409
Pretty much. We're not here to deal with her issues with Hound. Tell her to get lost and actually fix the issue, and then if she can do that, then we can maybe forgive her.

But in the meantime, and hopefully for a long time, there won't be any relationship bullshit and we can get back to the regularly scheduled programming: The wacky adventures of a psychic engineer in space.
>>
So for now consensus is to just drop the relationship stuff wholesale, tell Anna to fix her shit or gtfo, then go on with the rest of the plot.
>>
>>24463576
it's everyone left already
>>
>>24463576
Given that the thread is almost dead, you can't really get a consensus, but I'm behind it.
>>
>>24463576
Sounds reasonable. Basically tell her that until she's dealt with these obviously unresolved feelings towards Hound, there is nothing more for her and Heather to talk about.

Then we can go do some science and have adventures.
>>
So did our techno-depression last longer than the actual relationship?
>>
>>24463576

yup; if she fixes it, or something else happens MAYBE we open up the romance business, but hopefully not...

exabyte could you do me a favor? at the end of the quest could you let me see the notes on what you'd have done if we'd have chosen sarvesh?
>>
>>24463684
Depending on what happens with Anna, you might get to find out in the quest what happens if we choose sarvesh.

I'd say he's the most likely possibility if Anna fucks up again.
>>
>>24463658
no, we went out for dinner twice on none consecutive days meaning it was at least 3 days
>>
>>24463576
Have you considered that perhaps Anna isn't capable of fixing her shit without help? Perhaps considerable help?

I mean I'm willing to give that, but are the rest of you?
>>
>>24463576
Yes. For the love of all that is holy.

The fact that this thread has almost 1000 posts goes to show just how badly /tg/ takes waifuing. The backlash from this twist has been atrocious.
>>
>>24463658
Huh, probably. Puts some perspective on things. Then again, how many threads did we even last? IIRC we weren't seriously going out during the first date, so it might only have been like 8 threads or so. A week in real time, might be a quest record.
>>
>>24463715
Well then her shit isn't going to be fixed. The ball is in her court entirely. If she doesn't move to fix the relationship, it's not going to be fixed at all.
>>
>>24463715
But a relationship in which one partner relies on the other to solve all the problems is a bad relationship.

Do we really want Anna to think that if she does anything wrong it's Heather's fault for not solving it.
>>
>>24463723
The threads make it hard to tell how long it's been in-game.

I remember being surprised when people commented on Heather getting into a relationship with someone she'd only known for a week, because about a month of threads had gone by.
>>
>>24463715
We can't really do anything to help if she's still in love with her ex. We need to tell her in no uncertain terms that she needs to deal with this, and until she does then she doesn't really have a chance with anybody else, let alone Heather.
>>
>>24463715
Well Exa's kind of put us in a corner here - after her cheating so fast (a couple of days, a single night of sex, not even 3 dates) most posters are probably not going to bother sticking with her to sort her shit out. Even as an Anna-fag that's not too appealing. It's also why I think the development backfired, because having her sort it out on her own without Heather's involvement is fucking stupid both from a general storytelling standpoint, and especially in an interactive one like this, but I don't see much chance of us going for it.
>>
>>24463894
I don't expect her to sort it out, I expect her to go jump Hound's bones again. Exabyte has repeatedly suggested that Anna is very weak underneath. But honestly, if that's the outcome, then fine, we don't want to have a relationship with someone like that anyway. Who knows, maybe Anna will surprise us.
>>
>>24463894
At this point the best Anna can hope for is that Heather will ignore her for a while, then tell her to sort herself out, then might consider taking her back if she manages it. That's absolute best case scenario.
>>
>>24463943
Which makes me worry she did something stupid while we were out of it. Well, even more stupid than the thing that caused all this.
>>
>>24463932
So we just say that there's still a chance, and that if it ever meant anything at all, she should go and deal with her problems. Gotta emphasise the fact that Heather will be there if she manages to get through it.

Motivation, like.
>>
>>24463975
That's about it, yeah.
>>
>>24463932
Well sure, but the problem remains. If Anna was the designated LI, then sorting shit out would be a matter of course, and even if we made it clear that she'd have to show initiative, there's still be interaction and development. In this quest, though, the fractured playerbase (the number of posters who either want some other LI or none at all is probably bigger than Anna-fags like me after this) she'll just have to sort it out on her own, which makes her romance subplot COMPLETELY POINTLESS because it will happen without player interaction, or we lose the romance entirely, which is just stupid.
>>
>>24463966
She might have. If she really did regret doing it, she may have done something stupid and illogical to "make up for it".
That kind of thing tends to happen with people who are feeling a lot of guilt and regret.
>>
>>24463997
I think it's more likely that she'll at least try to maintain some kind of communication while she deals with herself.
>>
>>24463997
>some other LI
that ship has sailed the others have paired off or abdicated
>>
>>24463997
It's a difficult situation. I see where you're coming from, but there's no way people are going to accept a dozen more threads of Heather sorting out Anna's problems for her.

Either Anna's doing it, or it's just not happening.

we still can be, people are blowing this error of judgement out of proportion. Anna is a weak person who puts up a strong front. Sarvesh would make problems worse now and in the long run. summer is crazy.
>>
>>24464039
But Anna doing it herself, with some prompting from Heather, does provide a pretty good 'get out of jail free' card for Exabyte to fix his mistake, at least.

>>
>>24464128
right, but no matter what we pick I want to seal Hounds armour closed as revenge, or learn to manipulate stuff back in time and seal it before this shit happens
>>
>>24464111
And he can carry you around while also doing other things with his hands.
You can literally wrap yourself up in a blanket and be carried around all day without inconveniencing him at all.
>>
>>24464120
>Implying anyone on the station is sane
>>
>>24464186
different types of insanity, I don't like the delusional
>>
>>24464120
I'm still in favor or Anna, after a good while of staying single and focused on non-romantic things, but I'd imagine posters will push for Sarvesh/Summer.

That said, not too sure going for either will be a good idea. They won't blow up in the same way as Anna, but Summer IS kind of crazy, so I think avoiding a relationship until that's fixed is a good idea for the same reasons as Anna, and as for Sarvesh, it could work out, but going after him right after he's gotten over us could present problems, especially if we don't end up committing.

I'm really hoping for a while of zero romance personally though.
>>
>>24464166
At this point, going back and preventing it will just make everything worse.
Anna won't understand why Heather is upset, and won't have the opportunity to fix herself and get stronger. If we prevent it this time, it'll inevitably happen later. Making Anna toughen up will be better in the long run.
>>
>>24464120
I'm not saying I don't want to give Anna a chance. I'm just saying if things don't work out with Anna, I seriously doubt Sarvesh will refuse Heather's advances (though we should probably wait until we've passed the rebound zone if that does happen).
>>
>>24464120
Actually, you're probably right about that. I think Summer's personality issues are worse than any of the others. Going about that one the wrong way could make things really bad indeed.

Compared to that, Anna's commitment issues/inferiority complex are pretty tame.
>>
>>24464186
I'm sure one of the research assistants is actually quite normal. There has to be someone.
>>
>>24464142
Max really should have been the MC.
>>
>>24464166
Nah, if we want to get revenge on him, we plant a simple virus in his armor that makes it lock up when he gets into combat.
>>
>>24464202
>but I'd imagine posters will push for Sarvesh/Summer.
You should probably wait and see. I'll admit I was one of the people getting buttmad about the whole Anna thing at the time. Now that I've had a little time to chill out and think about it, I'm a lot less mad, and I'd like to see Heather at least try to work things out with her.
>>
>>24464202
Haven't you heard. Sarvesh, Summer, Anna, they're all smalltime.

Heather will be all about the knot.
>>
>>24464216
That's called murder.
>>
>>24464216
Eh, that's probably a bit too vicious. Let's just sign him up for every single interspecies gay centaur dating site in the galaxy.
>>
>>24464227
Yeah, by tomorrow most of us will have cooled off and things should go (slightly) smoother and in-character.
>>
>>24464154
Pretty much. He's like Fabio, crossed with Emeril, a mechanic, a chivalrous knight, and a crab with a pile of super-strength tossed on top of that.

>>24464171
Yup, we can just set up shop on him and he can carry us around as we tinker with things. And he can still turn his torso around and hug us while doing that.
>>
>>24464250
...YES. Spam galore!
>>
>>24464227
I'm the same (although as mentioned I'm only mad due to the context of this quest's waifuwars, wouldn't mind the twist under different circumstances) and have calmed down as well, and I think there's a good chance any romance will be avoided for a while, but we'll see what happens.
>>
>>24464202
Exactly.

Drop the romance for a bunch of threads while Anna goes and fixes her shit after a nudge from Heather. Give the playerbase a break, and Exa gets to conveniently tie up the loose threads created by this caustic plot twist
>>
>>24464250
This. I'm against any actual acts of violence against Hound. But we can be an utter dick to him via technopathy in far more subtle ways.
>>
>>24464256
And Sarvesh has a knot that would put Max to shame.
>>
>>24464227
Same feeling here, actually. I was mad as hell, but now I'm thinking rationally again and not letting my personal preferences get in the way of good storytelling.

As embarressing as it is to admit, I think I might be a tad too invested for my own good.
>>
>>24464274
Sarvest doesn't have a knot, although the long noodly appendage is impressive, such things should be 6-12 feet long before they outdo the knot.
>>
>>24464301
Hey, it happens. And we were pretty blindsided - as much as people were posting 'it was obvious!' in hindsight, I honestly can't remember any real discussion or worry over Hound prior to returning to base, especially nothing needed to hurry over.
>>
>>24464318
Didn't you read the smut?
He's got a massive knot.
>>
>>24464273
Of course we should probably save doing all this until after Anna's sorted things out with him. Then let's go nuts.

Crabcakes, Bear and Lobster, Anonymous Carapace Surprise, basically all the interspecies gay centaur dating sites and sex hookup sites there are.

Then we get into his future-facebook and change his political views to "pro-demiurg" and wait for him to get spammed to shit by angry messages.
>>
>>24462878
YES YES YES
>>
>>24464273
Like signing him up for every single male enhancement product, market research survey, and interspecies dating site in the galaxy.

Every single one. And write a program that rechecks it every day, and resubscribes him to them if he ever changes username. For him, here will be no escape from the barrage of centaur wang.
>>
>>24464318
He could *tie* it into a knot...
On second thoughts let's never go there again.
>>
>>24464362
We could even use technopathy to future-photoshop some very realistic looking porn pictures of Hound taking centaurdick.
>>
>>24464362
Let's make it so every third webpage he goes to is a redirect to a gallery of penises of all shapes, sizes, and colors.
>>
>>24464362
I think death would be preferable.
>>
>>24464390
But nowhere near as funny.
>>
>>24464379
>Update
If he can't use it for bondage, then it's not a long enough prehensile cock.
>>
>>24464413
set his suit's crotch to vibrate everything he gets mail.
>>
>>24464443
It's crotch vibrates and it loudly plays the audio from gay centaur on human porn whenever it might be the most inconvenient. Like when he tries to talk.
>>
>>24463241
remove emotions, give prime directive of fulfilling human values: TRANSHUMANIST QUEST!
>>
>>24464384
Then we make sure it becomes one of those regular porn popups that appears everywhere on porn sites.

Within a month, he won't be able to go anywhere without someone recognizing him as the guy from the popup for "big gay centaur gangbangs".
>>
>>24464443
So, sort of a pavlov's dog type thing?

As vengeance goes, that is devious, cruel, and might be taking it too far.

Which is exactly why I like it. Hound will never be able to attend a social event again.
>>
>>24464460
Basically, we won't kill him, but by the time we're done he's going to have to retreat to a cabin in the middle of nowhere on an undeveloped world with nothing more advanced than a waterwheel.
>>
>>24464489
heather can control waterwheels
>>
>>24464489
>Implying the waterwheel won't molest him
Do you even petty technopath with no range limit?
>>
>>24464489
Precisely.

He will forever be known as "That guy in all the porn ads"
>>
>>24464499
it is tech
>>
>>24464499
>>24464505
>>24464514
Oh okay, well in that case I guess he's going to go live in a cave and survive on berries and insects.
>>
>>24464522
"Hey, Theta! I need you to make a bug that resembles a Centaur's penis. No, go ahead and make a few varieties. I just need enough to fill up these drop pods."
>>
>>24464499
>>24464505
Yes, yes, let the pettiness flow through you
>>
>>24464465
Thats how you Void Queen.

>Heather's face when.

So in the end, Hound's only option will be to accept his new life as a gay centaur porn icon.
>>
I'll give you one thing exabyte:

You do a damn good cliffie
>>
She never said yes.

Technically, that be raep.
>>
>>24464568
Hound should thank us, we're going to make him a star.
>>
>>24464606
You'd think that Heather would be upset that her girlfriend cheated on her with him.
Instead, Heather's going to make him famous.
Heather's so selfless.
>>
>>24464606
The biggest in the galaxy.
>>
>>24464600
We're in a secret research station in a system with no permanent population or governing body. There are no laws except the overarching UPA laws like 'no planet-destroying weapons' and shit. Technically, it is not rape.
