>Theme song for everything JoJo ever. Listen and love it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cg-QNVm28zk

And with that, we begin Episode 2 of JoJoCalypse Quest, also known as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part ?, Apocalypse Records. Previous thread here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/24518903/

You are Joe, a former child raider who renounced his evil aways when the people of Joestar Village saved your life from a wasting fever. Said fever left you with a mysterious power centered on your breathing, which you combine with rubberbands to create deadly projectiles.

When we last left off, night had fallen for the first time in your whole life. You didn't understand why everyone panicked until you saw a shambling monstruosity lurking within the dark, attacking a man named Rocko. You posed and went for a rescue rather dramatically, but all you managed to do was get yourself knocked down and strangled. Before you passed out, however, the thing's head exploded, giving you a rather gruesome shower.

You wake up with a start. Your head is still pounding, your chest is killing you and you have trouble breathing, but you're alive and that is very much a relief. Either that or everyone else died with you, because the entirety of the village people are there as well. You're lying in a bed within a well-lit room, though you can't make out anything else as the townspeople surround you, screaming that you've finally woken up.

Jordan, the man who you've come to regard as a father, is kneeling next to you. Tears well up in his eyes when he sees you're alive and well and he hugs you a bit TOO tightly. "Oh Joe, you've finally woken up! S/He said you'd be alright but I'm so relieved to see you open your eyes!". You ask who s/he is. He points to a person making their way to you through the crowd.

CHARACTER TIME: Gimme a character concept, including their power and an image for reference if you can. Roll 1d100, highest roll takes the cake. This person can't be a vampire.

Daf T. Punk

A mysterious figure within a dark green and purple robe. Speaks in a metallic female voice, as if from behind a metal wall. Glimpses of shiny metal can be seen beneath the shifting robes.

Obviously, it's a cyborg. So the light of innovation.

Done waiting, so this is the winner.

The figure that steps out of the crowd is wrapped in a dark green and purple robe that covers its entire body. You usually don't trust people who hide themselves like that, but you apparently owe your life to this person, or so Jordan claims.

"So you're awake. Why didn't you aim for the head?" The voice, though feminine, is harsh and metallic. "Your Ripple is weak, but it it would've killed the zombie had you aimed for the head. If I hadn't been around here, you would've died".

Ripple, zombies...what? What's your reply, Joe?

yeah considering we're inside of the village of the sun apparently that would be rather weird to have a vampire strolling about in the sunlight

but here a quick question about jojo's bizzare vampires, to be turned into ash by sunlight does the light need to touch the skin or not because if not we'll need to watch out for people wearing a full body suit

>>24531044

if sunlight or ripple touches a vampire they start to melt at that spot. So yeah, anyone completely covered in the day should be suspicious

It's not just the village, the pasage of time is rather strange. The sun seems to come and go at random. Sometimes it'll shine for the equivalent of months, sometimes you'll only get the equivalent of a few hours of sunlight before the night returns.

>>24531044
I honestly picture our guy as looking like Hol Horse, only with rubberbands on our forearms, legs, and probably other spots as well.

>>24530913
>>24530953
>>24531044
We scramble for a pose, but only manage to contort awkwardly while still lying in the bed. "WHOA WHAT ARE YOU? AND WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?". It's less than happy with our reaction.

"I happen to be a woman" her voice is stone cold now, and the metallic effect gives her an even more threatening tone. "My name is Daf. Daf T. Punk, and I can't believe you don't know anything". Before you start listing the things you know, number one being "rubber bands are awesome", she starts explaining.

"Whenever night falls, zombies roam the land. They're the undead, things that should not be and yet they walk the Earth, destroying everything in their path. Whether they were once people or not, no one really knows. We don't know much about them, only that there's very few ways to kill them. A zombie can shrug off any injury, no matter how grievous, unless the head is destroyed. They are also destroyed completely by sunlight, which is why your rubberband went through it so cleanly. That power you use is the power of the sun, the Way of the Hermit called The Ripple"
>>
>>24531286
>Way of the Hermit called The Ripple
"Wait, but I'm not a hermit. I live in town and have sex and stuff. I'm pretty sure that you have to go off in the mountains alone and train to not eat food in order to be a hermit."

Ignore if this is too silly. Also: I don't know how we're playing the character. Back in a bit, reading archive.
>>
>>24531286

" What's a Hermit? I used to beat people up for a living, is that what a Hermit is?"

The villagers aren't sure what to think of this Ripple thing, but they confirm that whenever night falls, people die. It's why they always flee to this place. Apparently, it used to be a shelter in the old world, and it's heavy metal doors keep the creatures at bay.

You try to wrap your head around the new information. Did you really know so little? You were content with messing around with your rubberbands without really understanding what it was you were doing, and that almost cost you your life. You sit as straight as you can and ask Daf to tell you everything she knows about The Ripple. She's already told you everything she knows, but she can point you towards people who DO know more.

On one hand, there's the Ripple Clan Monastery. While many employ the Ripple, they are some of the few with true understanding of it, and they are dedicated to furthering its use as an art.

On the other hand, you might join her when she returns to her home, the ruins of an ancient city. There is a certain Doktor there that is quite knowledgeable about many things, the Ripple amongst them.

Either way, you need to wait until the sun comes up again, so you have some time to think it through. Where do you want to go?
>>
>>24531516
We owe her one right?

We got with her to pay the debt
>>
>>24531516

Let's go with her, an ancient city sounds like a cool place to find knowledge.
>>
>>24531443
>>24531469

"A hermit is someone who lives alone, away from everyone and everything. Apparently the Ripple originated from them, or so it is claimed. Precise information is rare"
>>
>>24531516
Yeah, Science bitches. To the Doktor
>>
>>24531516
Daf T. Punk is obviously an assumed name; her real one has to be Zeppeli. Thus we're asking for a beating if we go anywhere but with her.
>>
>>24531516
let's go meet the doktor.

but first thing first we need a sound like ORA or MUDA to use for when we use our ripple for extra quick PAUNCHES my vote is for APA
>>
>>24531556
>>24531600
>>24531636

You decide to join her in her trip back, as soon as the sun comes out. Aaaaaany moment now. After spending what feels like an eternity not talking to eachother, Daf decides that if you're going to join her, she wants you to be a better fighter. You remember the vice-like grip on your throat and agree to train with her before you depart.

You're led to a large, empty chamber by Jordan, who leaves in a hurry, closing the door behind him. Daf takes a few steps back from you, and gives you the first move. Whatever you do, roll 1d20.
>>
>>24531516
Ooh, that's a tough one. Either martial arts masters named after 70's music acts, or the peak of Aryan science. Either one is equally fabulous. I guess we should go with Daf, for safety's sake if nothing else. Better to travel with someone who knows how to fight zombies than to go it alone.
>>
>>24531708
cyborg Zeppeli... well if that is the case she will kick even more ass than I though she would but it also sadly mean that she'll die because the zeppelis *always* die when they are near a joestar it's like the joestar curse for planes

We strike a FABULOUS and almost practical pose that tenses all of our muscles before we shoot forward, our fist cocked for big swing. She casually sidesteps the swing and raises her left arm at us.

WHAT MARVELOUS HIDDEN WEAPON DOES SHE HAVE IN THERE? Suggest one to your liking, roll 1d20, the winner gets to see their weapon smash us rather handily. Remember it's something for her left arm only, don't go overboard.
>>
>>24531974
Well, I guess we're not getting hit THAT badly. Still need a special cyborg weapon for her left arm.

You twist your hips and neck to get a good look at Daf and notice, just in time, that her hand is neither made of flesh nor really a hand anymore. You fall flat on the floor and fight off a shiver as a metal ball on a chain flies wooshes over you. Now you know how she turned that zombie's head into confetti.

You let the chain retract, then jump to your feet, only to instantly tumble to the right as the wrecking ball smashes down where you stood. While the chain once again retracts into her arm, you take aim and fire three rubber bands at her, dark blue, pink and green.

Roll 1d20 for success.

Rolled 14

>>24532426
>>
>>24532447
Your aim is good, but predictable. All three rubberbands fly in a straight line towards her center of mass, and she easily smashes them away with the metal ball. There's not even a scratch on it.

"Your Ripple is weak and your aim, while good, is predictable. You constantly aim at the torso to guarantee an easier hit, but that makes your shots easier to block and dodge, and it won't work against a zombie unless you strengthen your Ripple. Try something different next time".

And I have to go. I think I'll keep running these late at night, looked like more people participated. Next quest will be on Tuesday around 10pm.

Nope, just started last night, my first quest. I apologize for having to leave so early, I thought I could get more stuff done and I was wrong. I honestly have the most time in my hands late at night, around 10-11 4chan time, so that's when I'll run the quest. I guess this should get archived, but it's a pretty shitty thread.

So, Would anyone anyone be interested in a hunterxhunter quest?

Kinda dissapointed we went with the cyborg chick instead of the monastary. Going cyborg could actually hinder our Ripple abilities as IIRC Hamon travels better in living tissue than it does in metal. And channeling through hydraulic fluid doesn't seem to be as good as infusing your entire body with it. That said, the team science might have more exotic weapons and a better methodology to compensate for a lack of the Ripple.
>>
>>24533860
we never said we'd become a cyborg we're just going to meet with the Doktor who is apparently knowledgeable on numerous things including but no limited to the ripple
>>

Too bad.we never got to see Joseph use the hamon with his robot hand.

I think a hunter X hunter quest would be noteworthy if it had decent writing. Pretty much anything can happen in the setting and it seems that even in the series only like .01% of the world is actually explored.

I'm kinda worried he's coming off a bit gimmicky with his rubber bands, kinda Ceasar-ish. In JoJo the most powerful fighters tend to be characters with either incredible versatility, or stuff that turns you into an Outside Context Problem (See Time Manipulation, Requiems, D4C)

Personally, I'd rather he expand into general weapon use or something, rubber bands are neither common, nor foolproof, a decent enough heat would be enough to ruin the elasticity.
>>
>>24541113
The first two already made me fall in love with you, what more do you want?
>>
>>24540639
Heheh, she kinda looks like an Eldar joined the AdMech.
>>
Rolled 13

>>24541114
I agree. I've been having trouble thinking up stuff other than "shoot rubber bands", or "snare with rubber bands" in the fights we've had so far. There's some stuff you can do with using the elasticity to build up potential energy, but it has its limits.

I think a good place for our JoJo to branch out into for more variety would be general manipulation of mechanical properties, rather than just altering his bands. Making things stiffer or more elastic, increasing or decreasing toughness, changing failure modes, altering shearing planes...there's some neat stuff you can do there. Keep the rubber bands, but use them for launching projectiles rather than as the projectiles themselves. That way we can keep the armbands as our mandatory dumb costume element. It could be our powerup after the inevitable training montage of Ripple Monastics.
>>
>>24542092

Rubberband Ball and Chain would be neat

Or silly-putty manipulation since it is bouncy and stretchy like rubberbands...

Suddenly I want to see him become a Toybox Warrior.
>>
>>24542092
That's cool as hell, I was thinking something along the lines of Fluid Dynamics, due to how well they conduct the Ripple, but that might seem a little bland-ish compared to crazy ass rubber band powers.

I wonder if we could use a Hamon infused slingshot to 'spin' some steel balls or something?
