Predator Quest: Episide 9

You are Three-Claw, a Yautja hunter of the Cloud Viper clan. You have been tasked by your clan Matriarch to embark on a hunt on the world of Fey'lenn, or Pandora, as it is known to humans.

________________________

You are currently deep in the bowels of what was once a massive underground facility. You are running down a massive tunnel towards a heavy firefight. You see brilliant flashes of explosions and heavy weaponry discharging. The noise becomes almost deafening as you approach the scene of carnage.

You quickly duck a burning drone flies past you after taking a direct rocket hit from one of the massive exo-suits.

Three APCs in line formation desperately try to hold off the oncoming tide of hard-meat. The increased resistance suggests they are getting closer to the center of the hive. This seems to be the only way forward. If you want to proceed, you'll have to find a way past these forces.

Do you:

A: Hide behind a large piece of rubble and wait to see how the firefight goes.
B. Climb a nearby scaffolding to a catwalk overhang and take the high ground.

Thanks for the twitter updates!

B. Take the high ground and observe from there but watch out for flying drones.
>>
>>24562412
>B. Climb a nearby scaffolding to a catwalk overhang and take the high ground.

Unfortunately this is one time when we cannot stop and observe, we need to keep moving and let weyland-yutani occupy most of the hive while we go for the queen.
>>
>>24562412
B Higher ground so we can get a better view.
>>
>>24562412
It wouldn't be possible to mine the APCs while they're engaged in a firefight would it?
>>
>>24562478
>B. Take the high ground and observe from there but watch out for flying drones.

You pull yourself up to the scaffolding and take a moment to assess the battle below.

The Weyland forces are stretched to the breaking point, but they seem to be holding for now. A massive torrent of various beast strains pour in from all directions.

You hear a sudden shriek, and suddenly find the beasts launch into a full retreat.

The tide of hard-meat suddenly recedes as individual drones pull back into the depth of the hive. The deafening chatter of autocannons slowly dwindle to silence. They are momentarily bewildered.

You put your vision mask into deep scanning mode and discover a vent above the tunnel extending deeper into the hive running above the Weyland forces.

Do you:

A. Take this time to shimmy your way into the air vent above you.
B. Stay where you are and continue to observe
>>
>>24562612
this is strange behavior... can we insight check to see if we have any idea what's going on? surely our master would have taught us if they'd do something like this

(this is a sort of counts as b)
>>
>>24562612
This is a trap. The xenos are going to launch an ambush somehow. The questions are: How, when, and where?
>>

B. Stay and observe. Any wisdom from our mentor?

>>24562715
We could use the vents more safely with a liberal use of las mines to cover our asses.

>forgetin grave
>>
>>24562655
>>B. Stay where you are and continue to observe

You maneuver along the catwalk and hold yourself close to where it meets the tunnel wall.

You quickly cycle through your vision modes, but could find no sign of anything amiss.

The two Weyland exosuits decide to slowly advance down the tunnel.

On a hunch, you perform a structural integrity scan on the tunnel walls. You find a massive thickness discrepancy in one of the sections of of the tunnel walls, just ahead of the exo-suits. The other side of the wall has been methodically hollowed out by heavy corrosion, and as the result, the walls have been made brittle.

A faint rumble on your mask's seismic sensors confirm your suspicion.

The black beasts plan to launch an ambush through the tunnel walls.

Do you:

A. Patch into the exo-suit comms systems and warn them.
B. Continue observing.
>>
>>24562840
A) These guys might be handy and we can't really risk letting them lose. Stalemate is good, successful ambush is bad

As much as I'd like them to win this fight, it'd be a huge tactical loss if they realized we could imitate there comms like that.

B
>>
>>24562894

*their

Alright, can we at least try to pass it off as a random synthetic noticing that?
>>
>>24562840
>>24562894
Well, if we could get a hold of one of their comms units, we might be able to trick them into thinking we just salvaged one of theirs. They'd switch encryption, sure, but we should still be able to intercept. Hopefully.
>>
>>24562934
We could use the synthetic we killed's ID. Was it C1? C3? Something like that.
>>
I just wanted to note that someone at the end of the last thread said we haven't fought any warriors, just drones and runners. That's not true, that bunch we plasma casted were warriors. I'm pretty sure we fought a few more too.
>>
>>24562952
Except that one was supposed to be guarding the entrance - so having it suddenly go "HURR THE WALLS ARE HOLLOW" would be even more of a give away.... considering its supposed to be at the entrance
>>
>>24562989
sure sure, i guess i was hoping they'd take that a breach in that guys encryption like >>24562934
suggested.
>>
>>24562840
What if we used the plasma caster to shoot a hole in the thinned walls, thus taking the hard meat by surprise?
>>
>>24562989

Were we broadcasting to every synthetic, or just the two at the front?
>>
>>24563053
wouldn't really do anything the exosuits aren't already capable of and would give away our position
>>
Why not just use the synthetic voice, patch in real quick and tell them that it's fragile before patching out again. They'd be curious as to where it came from, but the whole Hard Meat ambush should hopefully prevent them from looking into it too far.
>>
>>24563071
True, I was just wondering if there was a way to alert the humans without showing that we can hack their comms.
>>
>>24563078
Yeah, lets just tell them about the ambush and get the fuck out. We can break any puny soft meat encryption they throw at us.
>>
>>24562871
>>A. Patch into the exo-suit comms systems and warn them.

You tune your mask's interception system to one of the exo-suits and spoof yourself on Weyland comms.

"X1, X2. HALT. REVERSE. Watch the walls."

The two exo-suits come to a hard stop and begin to step back.

The walls before them suddenly explode inwards and two massive bestial figures pile into the tunnel.

They are tall - even taller than the exo-suits, and they wear the signature fan-shaped crown of the praetorian strain. But these have a distinct blue tint about them, and a tail far longer than the praetorians you've studied back home. You study them for a brief moment with a trained hunters eye. Their muscle density and strength is incredible. You realize these strains seem to be derived from the local Na'vi.

The exo-suits open fire.

A barrage of rockets smash into one of the praetorian's head and breaks its crown into fragments. But the other leaps to the side with incredible agility and dodges the rocket barrage at near point blank.

The tunnel once again explodes with the cacophony of battle with the sound of auto cannons and rockets. From behind the broken walls, you detect a massive swarm approaching.

Do you:

A. Attempt to fire at the praetorians with your plasma-caster (DC: Medium)
B. Attempt to take down one of the praetorians with your disc. (DC: Medium-hard)
C. Provide covering fire with your plasma caster at the smaller hard-meat to help thin the swarm (DC: Easy-medium)
D. Make for the air-vent and proceed inward.
E. Continue observing and do nothing, for now.
>>
>>24563071
>>24563084
We already blacked out their coms, which means either we are free to patch it in from the 'outside', or just source it it from the unit we eliminated and explain we are relaying it from the outside due to interference.
In either case it's not going to matter in the slightest because none of them are getting out of here alive.

>>
>>24563293
A crit fail or crit success, otherwise it's generally the one with more support (though seeing rolls does make us dishonest a bit)
>>
>>24563293

There's no possibility of a tie with that system; one option has to get to three rolls before another.
>>
>>24563261
Technically this isn't our mission.
I'm pretty sure we were just supposed to figure out what Weyland-Yutani is up to?
>>
>>24563220

You decloak and lock on to one of the praetorians. Your caster hums as it charges and releases a massive plasma shot at the beast.

The Praetorian leaps into the air with unbelievable agility and narrowly dodges it.

It rears back its head and thrusts it forward, hurtling a massive spittle of acid straight at you.

You leap to the side and dodge the shot. The acid spittle splashes against the catwalk and begins to eat through the scaffolding at a rapid pace.

You find the ground giving in. The catwalk is about to collapse!

Do you:

A. Leap towards one of the walls and grab one of the vertical pipes. (DC: Medium)
B. Leap down to one of the APCs before the catwalk collapses. (DC: Medium-easy)
>>
>>24563302

And that's a problem with our current system; we can't deliberate over DC rolls, because we'll be biased by the earlier rolls (vote with high rolls, against low rolls)

>>

>>24563464
A good call. Maybe set a time limit after the choice is issued and tally those results? It should be something short to prevent piling on the high roll...3-4 minutes maybe?
>>
>>24563390
>>A. Leap towards one of the walls and grab one of the vertical pipes. (Pass)

You make for a running start as the catwalk gives way beneath your feet, and leap into the air. Your hands snatch the pipe and grip on.

You turn to see the massive praetorian raging towards you. The exo-suit turns, and fires a volley of rockets into its back. The beast shrieks in pain and turn again to engage the exo-suit.

You grip the pipe with one arm and twist your torso.

Both exo-suits are heavily damaged, but they somehow managed the take down one of the Praetorians. The remainder of the Weyland forces are also accounting well for themselves, as drone corpses begin to litter the field.

You hear a loud buzzing from up on high, and suddenly notice several dozen flying strains crawling out from the vent above.

Most begin to dive for the Weyland forces, but four of them turn in your direction.

A. Bring your plasma caster to bear and shoot them down! (D20 divided by 4 rounded down is how many we take down.)
B. Quickly slide down the pipe to reach solid ground.

>>

OR! We could put a prox mine on it. Proximity mode so it explodes when it either stops or something fucks with it, or remote mode for a remote 'car bomb'.
Personally I'd go with the second, and ride it down to see where the rails go.
>>
>>24564260

>>B. Ride the tram down the tracks.

You step into the tram and engage the throttle.

The massive machine begins to move forward slowly at first, but gradually begins to speed up.

You take a look at your cargo and count your mines. You have five left.

Do you:

A. Mine the cargo in remote detonation mode.
B. Mine the cargo in proximity mode.
C. Do nothing for now.

Also, if A and B, say how many mines we'd like to deploy.
>>
>>24564292
A. While there are merits to attention being focused on the WY suckers, this hive is pretty fucking old, and even though their numbers have been thinned signficantly, they will always outnumber us.

We really should rig the tram with mines...and if we could remotely operate the tram, that'd be aces.
>>
>>24564407

A
>>

2 Mines.

Should be sufficient to cook off the ammo. Need to save some in case we have to cover our retreat.
>>
>>24564407
Can we set it up so that proximity activates when we command? Because i don't really like the idea of that blowing up behind us.

and I think >>24564329 is best plan. Stopping before queen chamber, provoking her into chasing us and then blowing the thing as we nope the fuck out of there.

And 3 mines if possible, still gives us a few to cover our retreat with
>>
>>24564428
A, 2 mines seems to be the popular choice.

Write up incoming.
>>
>>24564451
Yeah, lets stop before the queens chamber. Is there anyway Three-Claw can rig a proximity alarm to let us know when something gets close to the tram?
>>
>>24564457
You place two mines to be detonated remotely on the cargo behind you.

You notice a station coming up ahead. You decrease the throttle and slow the tram down.

From the E/M signatures, it looks like the queen is situated in a massive round silo further ahead. Your vision mask scan shows another tram station further up, leading right to the silo.

Do you;

A. Park the tram here and continue on foot.
B. Continue ahead to the final station.
>>
>>24564485
Can't think of any aside from a proxy mine.
>>
>>24564492
Are we close enough to get a size estimate of the queen yet?
>>
>>24564492

A. Gotta be careful now.
>>
>>24564492
B) we leave our trap at the tram station then now it's just a matter of running up to the queen and shouting "COME HERE YOU FUCKING CUNT" and then bravely running back to our prepared killing ground.
>>
>>24564492

How far is further away? Hundred or so meters, a mile?
>>
>>24564500
Can we get confirmation on rough distance that the tram station is to the queen? are we looking at another moderate run in order to get her to the station or is the station basically 10feet away from the queen?
>>
>>24564492
Do we have to park at stations?
>>
>>24564519
>>24564515
If it's a few hundred meters from queen to where we are now, I'm content with leaving our bomb here. If we're leaving our bomb well out of range of the queen I want to move our bomb to the tram station, because I dont want to try to outrun a queen for more than a few hundred meters.
>>

>>
>>24564587
I cast my vote for A, but i'd really prefer for our tram to get to like, i dunno, 200 meters of the silo chamber.
>>
>>24564594
Each station is about 250 meters apart.

From here to the silo is about 300 odd meters.
>>
>>24564608
>>24564607
I change my vote to B then.
>>
>>24564587

In that case, get ~500 meters from the silo entrance.
>>
>>24564580
We're mostly waiting on some confirmation of distance between where we are, where station is and where queen is.

We don't want to leave our bomb 2km away from the queen, but we dont want to drive it right up to her either. I think at most we want to leave it a few hundred meters away, because well, queens are fairly smart but if we piss her off and provoke her into chasing us we can probably beat her in a footrace.
>>
>>24564594
B then. I don't trust us to outrun a Queen for 300 meters.
>>
>>24564621

>>24564608

>>B. Continue ahead to the final station.

You drive the tram past the station and onward to the next one. Along the way, you continuously scan the surrounding area.

The tram tracks end after the silo station. At the end of the tracks is a thin wall, beyond which is the top of the silo. You're not able to determine what kind of silo it is, but it is quite massive.

Suddenly, you hear a screech before you and you spot a 10 foot tall praetorian in the distance sprinting towards you at full speed down the tunnel.

Do you:

A. Disengage the safety brakes and throttle up to max speed to ram it head on. (You may not be able to slow the tram down fast enough before the track ends)
B. Open fire on it with your plasma caster (DC: Medium)

>>C. Aim your disc at its neck and throw it. (Critical Success)

You grab your reflex disc and activate it with a sharp hum. You lock on to the neck region of the massive beast and throw it forward.

The heated disc sails through the air towards the praetorian. The beast suddenly flexes and leaps into the air, attempting the dodge. But you anticipate this and remotely lift the disc upwards.

The disc slices through the beast's neck and exits out the other end. The beast howls madly and stumbles. It looks up at you, dazed, as your tram smashes it in the face.

The beast screeches horrifically as its body is ground to bits beneath the tram's massive wheels. You recall the disc, which once more slices into its neck during its return trip, and the praetorian's massive crowned head separates from its body.

You bring the tram to a stop and look behind you at the sizzling mess.

You decide to take a trophy. The head is too large to fit on your belt. Do you:

You pry open its jaw and rip out the blue-tinted secondary mouth along with the jaw stem from within using both your hands. You look over your trophy. It is as large as a warrior drone's head in size.

You slide a length of trophy coil around its length and clip it to your back.

You move the tram a bit further to the next station.

Your mask's scan indicates the vast majority of the queen's forces are engaged in battle with Weyland forces, but there is likely to be a few praetorians on guardianship duty this close to the hive.

The silo is close now.

You have two options:

1. Enter through tram station and ride the cargo lift down to the silo ground.
2. Slide into one of the maintenance shafts hanging above the silo.
3. Jam the tram throttle to have it break down the thin wall in front of it and into the silo.

You open the vent cover and drop yourself down.

>>B. Throw it back in the vent and close the cover.

You throw the struggling thing back into the vent and jam it shut with a nearby wrench.

You turn to the control room.

The observation shutters are currently closed, but you should be overlooking the silo.

You glance over the controls. Most of it is still powered through a backup reactor somewhere within this facility.

The controls are mostly for loading and unloading of cargo. You also notice a surveillance system linking to various cameras in the silo, though most seem to have been destroyed.

Do you:

A. Open the shutters.
B. Leave the shutters closed but turn on the surveillance system.

You activate the surveillance system and notice only one of the cameras seem to be operational.

The silo is massive - but the figure in the middle is even more so. The queens you've encountered in your studies are 6-7 meters in height but this one is at least 10.

From what you can make out, she's attached to her cradle in the massive eggsac fillled silo. Her crown is truly massive and ends in a mass of writing, glowing tentacles. Two gigantic tusks jut out from her secondary jaw, and she has two large bulges jutting out from her back.

Her massive tail is at least 10 meters in length, and its tip widens out to resemble a bladed axe.

She is currently laying eggs.

Well...can we be safe in the assumption that WY won't be able to kill this thing? I feel like we'd need our ship's plasma weapons to fight this thing.

>>24565560

Knuckle down, pansies.

Are we a Yautja, or a Yautnein?
>>
>>24565560
we lure the king FIS to fight the queen as we have now seen she is a worthy challenge for him

but what if they are such a worthy challenge of each other they fall in love, oh god the children they will have

Bomb the shit out of it then pump that thing full of caster shots until our power pack and spare battery are empty?
>>
>>24565592
neither, we are Opredator
>>
>>24565592
Mein Herr! Wir sind Yautja!
>>
>>24565517
You are right, its actually a bio-jetpack

>>24565586
It might behoof us to just stand back and let WY fight it with everything it has. We should observe the battle and maybe sabotage WY. WY might end up bombarding her from orbit... or will manage to capture her in which case we break her containment as they try to pull her out
>>
>>24565586
WY doesn't stand a chance in hell. Hell chances ARE we don't either. In either case however we can't allow this hive to survive much less the queen. So somehow we HAVE to kill her.
>>
>>24565593
If that happens we leave the planet and suggest to the elder that it be wiped clean of life from orbit.
>>
>>24565615
Honestly at this point I'm willing to say we just return to our ship and use our other torpedo in conjunction with our map data on the tunnels.
>>
>>24565628
Normally, that'd be the only way to be sure, but against this....
>>
>>24565628
Aye we CANNOT allow this queen to survive. Problem is we have only one left an there may not be a garuntee that the torpedo could penetrate. Rather I am thinking that we should use our Bracer Nuke and run or something fuck.
>>
>>24565628
We may need to simply pull back and return home to get better equipment and other hunters for a hive cleansing. We are an information gathering mission after all.

Hell, it may be at the point where the Elders will decide it's not a hunt, but an extermination in which case we'd get to but out the handheld plasma weapons, fireliners, blazers and atomics.
>>
>>24565654
>>24565592
Munitions bomb followed by honor bomb?
>>
>>24565669
no, we save our honor device, but our spare battery could do nicely
>>
>>24565669
Are we allowed to use the honor bomb for something like this?
>>
>>24565669
Your forgetting the torpedo as well, also spare battery if it can unleash a large enough boom.
>>
>>24565683
yes, but with a queen this powerful, no we save it for ourselves, im sure we could rig our belt mounted battery to do somethign similer
>>
>>24565628
>>24565651
>>24565560

We conceive the mother of all bombs. OP mentioned that there is still a back up powerplant still active somewhere. We need to set that to overload. Maybe use our honour device here too.

Then, we need to hit it with the tram bomb.

Then, we need to shoot our auxillary battery into it's mouth and hit it with our plasma caster.

Then, we need to get the fuck out before the station explodes.

THEN we hit it the nuke.

[spoilers]When it's revealed to be still alive from that onslaught we seek out King Fis.[/spoilers]
>>
>>24565664
That means that would have returned without finding out what WY was doing on this planet, the Queen was just as much a surprise to them as it was to us.
>>
>>24565664
The only reason I'm reluctant to go back for help is because even if we don't kill this queen with our bare hands we will still probably a huge boon to our stature if we can kill this thing alone.
>>
>>24565704
>>24565698
No matter what, we make sure we fuck over WY.
>>
>>24565704
We have a decent idea of what WY is doing on this planet. They're researching and experimenting on Xenomorphs and luring in the Marines for testing at times.

>>24565718
Can't get honor if we're dead.
>>
>>24565698
I think you are all panicking a little bit.

Supporting the WY teams seems essential here, and then we send in the muntions and all other explosive goodies straight into the rampaging queen at th height of the battle.

I don't care what you guys say, I want the mother of all fucking tophies from this one way or another. As it is, we probably won't be even able to fit its tail blade onto our ship.
>>
>>24565687
We still have some mines we could use to rig something up. If we could get it into the tunnel, say, have it fly over the tram, being caught between the tram and the ceiling would really ruin its day.
>>
>>24565721
Hell, if WY can manage to capture it, and they'll fucking want to. They'll throw everything they can at it to get it alive. If they succeed, we track them back to their ship and kill it and them.

If they fail, hopefully they can wound it and then we'll strike with massive explosions.

If they don't even wound it we enact the final plan suggested by >>24565698
>>
>>24565704
I think it's pretty obvious that they have been researching xenos on the planet. Honestly with the shitstorm that is going on right now we could easily spy on them to finish our mission then get out and request help.
>>
>>24565728
>>24565728
A vauge idea is not confirmation. Anything short of knowing exactly what the hell WY is up to here is a technical failure on our mission, regardless of whether or not we beat this Queen to death using our Yautdick.
>>
>>24565732
I don't think we get a trophy if we bomb it.
>>
>>24565732
>10 m long tail
>praetorian secondary mouth is as big as a done head

Fuck, we really would need our bomb tram to get this thing out of here. And even then, it's too big for our ship...

You're absolutely right however, we need WY APC weapons.
>>
>>24565749
We don't have a vague idea, we have confirmation. They outright said it. And I'm pretty damn sure we won't get flogged if we go back and go "WY is researching Xenomorphs, they fucked up, let a number escape and a feral hive grow for 6+ years. The praetorians and queen are massive Super Xenomorphs, suggesting extermination.
>>
Blowing the buildings power plant might be a REALLY good idea actually. It probably won't kill the thing, but it'll piss it off and maybe flush it out of the egg room. We REALLY don't want to fight an Uberqueen in the egg room.
>>
>>24565759
>>24565759
Not if we attack it with our ship or honour device, but I'm sure the munitions and letting WY whittle away at it is fine.
>>
>>24565784
Not to mention we know their also experimenting on local wildlife. If we need more info we break into their mainframe and get a hold of the Navi.
>>
>>24565794
If we can do this without harming the WY crew I agree. However, it does mean we don't have a neat little target for the muntions bomb anymore. Maybe at the same time?
>>
>>24565794
But if it's not in doors/confined, it'll be flying.
>>
It's amazing how when we saw the description of the queen we went from we are going to kill this bitch and mount her head on the front of our spaceship to oh god we need to carefully plan this out.
>>
>>24565863
I think most of us were expecting a standard size queen, but even then we were going to plan it out. It just went from "We can take this bitch solo" to "It might be smart to head back and get backup."
>>
>>24565863
We just need to level the playing field first.

The fact that doing so will entail leveling most of the hive and blasting the lower half of the Queen's body off before we close for the kill are simply minor details.
>>
>>24565882
>>24565863
There have always been two camps on the matter of us being able to kill the Queen (no matter what form she takes).

Some believed that a normal queen would be simply too powerful for us to take as a new hunter.

Others have always been about the glory and the inevitable status/deathbysnusnu gained from killing a queen on our first mission.

This new info will probably only polarize the two camps.
>>
>>24565863
Sending in the tram bomb would have actually been a good way to get her out of egg room (and hell it might have even done some damage to her as well).

It likely would have cooked off and ruined any eggs in there and either wounded or severely hurt any praetorians in there with her.... and it would have pissed her off enough to get her to chase us.
>>
>>24565863
>>24565863
It's a bigger 180 than that, we went from talking about using only our claws to take her down to fleeing immediately and asking the Clan itself to deal with this shit.

Luckily, it seems the pussying out phase has passed.
>>
>>24565892
And honestly, the queen always, ALWAYS survives the initial explosion to fight you in the hangar bay.

We should be thankful that this can't actually sneak aboard our ship without noticing.
>>
>>24565913
>Philosipredator
>>
>>24565926
It's bigger than our ship man. By a big margin.
>>
>>24565917
The tram bomb can still be used.
>>
I have an idea. Maybe we could go go into the ruins of the building and try and find some research on the xenos that could lead us to a weak point we could exploit. I mean this is the place it escaped from there has to be some sort of info we could use to our advantage.
>>
>>24565940
Which is why it can't sneak aboard!
>>
>>24565921
I still think we should retreat and get the clan. A normal queen can already take an absurd amount of punishment, we'd have to be so retardedly stupidly lucky to be able to kill it solo. I'm worried the tram bomb will just make it extra angry and not really do any damage.
>>
>>24565960
I think our ability to take down this queen depends on two things.
1 how lucky we get with our rolls.
2 how generous the OP is feeling
>>
>>24565982
Your forgetting how many explosives booms anons can figure out a way to cause.
>>
>>24565960
Sure, if we were playing Pussy Predator Quest.

Last time I checked the title though, it said Predator Quest. We're not the Opredator that goes slinking away the moment it sees the coolest opportunity for trophy-time it will ever get in its life, we're the Opredator that pops a chubby and starts crafitily thinking how we're going to bag this mumma.
>>
Don't worry anons I'm sure we'll get a Nat 20 on our disc/plasma caster to kill it!

Seriously though, good rolls this session guys.
>>
>>24565954
Anything they know would likely be things we already know (we've been studying how to hunt these things for a damn long time) aside from a few surprises that get thrown at us.

Feasibly we dont even need to actually fight the queen - we can just put our honor device on a wall, set a timer and walk the fuck away because queens don't walk away from honor devices blown at 20m range (well within the kill range of a conventional grenade - not saying anything about a nuclear bomb).

That would be a very anti-climatic end though, despite being incredibly prudent. Our elders would understand it, though they'd question us not attempting to kill it honorably (because prey like this comes around once every couple hundred generations). Really we *have* the option of safely walking away from this while killing the hive and the queen - it just means that we sacrifice personal honor.

>>24565994
Old man hendersons arsonist cookbook.
>>
>>24566021
Or we have another repeat of our little Fis encounter and get what was it like 3 or 4 crit failures.
>>
>>24566016
Honestly, if we can stay out of her range, we could drop her with just caster and disc (with a bit of luck) as long as we send munition bomb in first. Wey-yu is coming and while we have a bit of time, we don't have forever to concoct a massive bomb.

The munitions bomb would kill off most of the eggs, and that makes queens angry and when they get angry they get stupid.
>>
>>24566024
Is it honorable to use the tram bomb though this is important.
>>
>>24566056
So the Queen swallows us whole? That's going to happen with average rolls at this rate.
>>
>>24566016
Actually, we got this mission because the Matriarch said too many hunters these days think of the glory and thrill of the kill over the greater goals of the Yautja. That's what you're doing right now.

>
"An excellent answer. Yes, perhaps Jackal was right about you. You see, young one, too many males these days think hunters are all about glory and the thrill of the kill. Now, glory is important, and is the cornerstone of our culture, but the Yautja empire is not built from trophies.

>"We train you and give you these skills so that you may use them to achieve greater goals for your clan and people. You are a hunter. You hunt, but while you do, you see, and you hear. What you see, what you hear, your entire clan and by extension, the entire empire sees and hears as well."

This queen will most likely rend us from ship to stern. We need to get back to the homeworld with this information, it's too valuable to risk dying.
>>
>>24566058
>stay out of her range
I think that'll be easier said than done.
and vengeful. She'd have a real hate lady boner for us then...

She'd be vulnerable to a cunning trap.

The problem is, we've only got the bait, what's our trap?!
>>
>>24566075
>>24566075
I can't see anything dishonourable about it, unless I'm mistaken and it's very nearly powerful enough to be considered on par with the honour device.

I'm sure OP will tell us in the next episode.
>>
>>24566058
Queens are fast bro, fast and smart. The relatively young one on LV-426 was able to use an elevator and figure out basic technology. This one has had six years to grow.
>>
>>24566080
Yea she swallows us whole then we get a crit and cut her in half.
>>
>>24566082
There's risking our lives for needless glory, and then there's fighting a prey that hasn't been seen in our Clan's entire history, and may never be seen again.
>>
>>24566082
>>24566119

Why do both of you have to be so right!?
>>
>>24566075
It's a huge-ass queen, we saw the opportunity in the environment to create a wonderful trap - fighting queens is prettymuch 'no holds barred'.

To become a clan chieften 3 elite hunters are sent into a *normal* xeno hive with melee weapons only to fight 300+ drones/warriors and a queen and even then most don't survive. We're doing this solo, so a munitions bomb to piss her off and do some damage would be more than allowed (the head-crest on queens is prettymuch immune to regular gunfire from stuff like those exosuits and her head can be drawn back into it completely, it could even withstand some caster shots I imagine).

We could soup up the munition bomb by adding all our remaining mines and our spare battery to get the drop on the queen, I doubt it would kill her though.
>>
>>24566094
The WY team?

We could send in the munition train, then lead her straight to the WY team. Set mines all around and shoot the shit out of her with our plasma caster while the WY team get curbstomped. The only risk there is her ignoring the WY team in favour of going after us specifically.
>>

>>24566113
>>
>>24566143
A normal queen's whole body is pretty much resistant to Gunfire.

>>24566149
That suggests we can outrun her.

>>24566119
So then we ask the Matriach if we'd be allowed to join the extermination crew coming back to kill her.
>>
>>24566149
We have a bit of time, so listening in on the WY team and maybe sending some false information to draw them into the fight would be a good idea.

But opening up with the munitions bomb is a damn good idea.
>>
>>24566143
Okay how about this we soup up the bomb as much as we can and then launch it at her. If she shakes it off like it was nothing we say fuck it and return for reinforcements because if our super bomb doesn't kill it nothing else we have will.
>>
>>24566174
The only problem is whether or not we're able to get away from the very big, very angry queen we just introduced ourselves to.
>>
>>24566149
If we set the complex to blow (somehow, preferably, sans honour device), and crash the bomb tram into her lair, the WY would serve as a time buffer for us to get the fuck out before the explosion.
>>
>>24566186
That's why we were very careful to leave all the WY alive back there. They get to take on the pissed off queen while we get the fuck out.
>>
>>24566172
I think we should send in the muntions bomb, but place mines along the shaft so that they go off as she chases us. She's fast, but with stuff blowing up in her face every couple of steps we'll be able to outrun her.

We'd have to switch to proximity alarm though.
>>
>>24566190
The complex has to blow regardless, the infestation is too out of hand. Killing the queen is an important part of ridding the infestation - as well as destroying *all* the eggs (we're probably going to end up using our honor device just to clear the hive)
>>
>>24566149
Thats probably a decent idea. WY has dealt with normal Queens before, and we know they're going for a capture, so whatever they're packing will at least be enough to inconvenience her.
>>
>>24566212
So we HELP them capture tha damn super-queene damn queen? Great, that won't be a shitstain on our honour or anything.
>>
>>24566229
Then we kill it and them in a colonial/ human setting rather than a xenomorph setting.

Much easier assuming they can capture it.
>>
>>24566229
I'm pretty sure they aren't going to be able to capture the queen at all. If we hadn't of intervened on two occasion they would all be dead by now.
>>
>>24566229
They aren't going to pull it off. They're going to fucking die horribly. Regular Queens are bad enough for human forces to deal with, but this thing will tear them a new asshole.

If they DO capture her somehow, we can just wait until they remove her from the hive and ambush them elsewhere. A little thing like her transport ship crashing into the ground at terminal velocity after we blow its engines out probably won't kill her, and then we swoop in for the takedown.
>>
>>24566290
Actually *this* is the point where causing more chaos is a good thing. Drawing WY into a fight with a pissed off superqueen is good because it gives her more to deal with than just us.
