My apologies for no thread materialising on Tuesday. Personal issues meant I wasn't exactly in a fit state to run anything for anyone. Luckily, today's much better. Let's go, shall we? Back to the Bronze Age.

You are the Long Fangs tribe, a primitive tribe of peoples on the cusp of the Bronze Age. With the assistance of your heroes and the guidance of your gods, it falls to you to guide your people through the ages, steering them through good times and bad, towards their eventual, far-off destiny. Do you think you are up to the task? Can you (to steal a phrase) build a civilization to stand the test of time?

Well...

We might need more food, so I'm going for

B) Get some MEAT on the table

E) Keep working on Stone Walls

Anyone have a third option they want to throw down?
>>
>>24590922
B. Fish with Rina. Lets let the herds build back up in size.

E. Continue work on animal husbandry or, as racists call it in the turn update, Animal Segregation.

H. Send an envoy to the River Brothers with Naveen and a priest/ess of Khione.

"It has been many moons since the tragic event that has caused our tribes to slip apart and we are responsible for it. Not only the event but the less than amazing relations between our peoples. Since the war we have searched for a way to make amends but we've come to realize that there is nothing that will bring those people back, yours or ours. You were our ally and we led you into destruction, you trusted us to protect our way of life and we brought only sadness and strife. For this, no apology will truly suffice.

We come to you today to begin a new era, if you will let us, of peace and good will amongst our people. In honor of our goddess Khione we have decided to make winter, the harshest part of the year, into a time of somber celebration for the achievements and losses of the previous year coupled with the hope of a better future.

This said, we would like permission to enter into your village during winter and begin good works and distribute food amongst your lesser fortunate led by a priest of Khione.

Though as we stated before nothing we do will entirely lessen the anger you feel towards us, perhaps this might start us on the road to recovery and a better future. We hope only to be the brothers we once were in the world and we hope that you do too."

Soo plan for this / the coming thread we had in mind:

Get done with animal racism, then go do some diplomacy like we should have done years ago and look into godlore for once and do it until we achieve something.

Also perhaps a revival of our yearly sports festival.

I can't tell if you're serious there.
We meant to build a monument to our former brother tribe (nicknamed Lionbros, because one of their main gods is a Lion) in their abandoned village.

Hardly shitposting. It's been on the cards for a while.
Chill. We're all friends here!

Derrik quite welcomes the break from his duties for a while. Rina meanwhile returns to the river, a little resentful at the constant workload, but willing enough. She does ask however, if one of her young disciples could be convinced to take on her duties for a while.

>It's not exactly animal husbandry... It's more like the first building block towards selective breeding. Animal husbandry is already mastered.
The wise ones finish their work on animal segregation! It doesn't take them too long to realise that killing rock wobblers that lay well is nothing more than a waste and soon the stock is divided into layers and those destined for the spit-roast!
>The tribe will need to select just how many rock wobblers are destined for butchering. This is a free action. Be careful not to send too many to slaughter.

Naveen is delighted to finally have a task to perform for the sake of the tribe! She and a small group head downstream, to the village of the Earthsplitters. They are received very coolly, as it seems they have not yet forgotten the events of the battle that drove the two tribes apart. Naveen presents her case to their chief however.

The speech is fairly well-received by the Earthsplitters, Naveen's disarming, easy nature and charming beauty most definitely helping matters. The Earthsplitters agree to ease their hostility towards the Long Fangs a little and will accept Khoine's disciples in the winter, as part of an effort towards making reparation. Their chief does make it clear however, that he expects payment, or 'wergild' for his lost tribesmen, in the form of goods and oath-sworn debt by the Longfangs.

>Wergild

I like the idea of this to be honest. It will increase our reputation as being trustworthy and owning up to our debt but I don't want our tribe to be beholden to another for an indefinite period of time.

That said, would you mind expanding on what you mean specifically by that?

Just like, increased cooperation between our tribes or do we become their bitches until the end of time?
>>
>>24592828
B. With Rina's underpriest.
D. Them wild fruits and veggies.
H. Send envoys to the River Bros this time explaining the idea of the Snowstouch festival. We didn't piss them off nearly as badly as we did the ES but we still wish to expand the good will to them as well.

It would also be best if we promised not to preach to their people about worshiping Khione as they do not want to worship any gods as their prior history represents. Our priests are merely there to ease the harshness of winter through charitable acts and such because it is only right that people should care for one another.

All that bullshit, yeah.

For meat and say I'd say we kill 15 of the least producing rock wobblers, 2 bulls, and 2 pigs. An older boar and a sow each.

Now that we know a bit about selective breeding for rock wobblers, picking out the livestock that don't produce anymore shouldn't be an issue.

Oh, and we should talk to the Tillersfane and see if there is any possibility of expanding the fields a bit more or if that would be too much to handle for them. Under no circumstances do we want to damage our crops again like before.
Without a few generations our farms should be nearly self sufficient as far as regaining losses to natural deaths and harvesting for food.
>>
>>24593360
Within a few generations* Just to clarify, keeping a net growth of all of our livestock is key since the forests are drying up and such. Gotta get them reproduction levels up, son.

Rina takes advantage of the first month of fall, to get some rest from her constant assisting the fishers. Her replacement fills in quite adequately and expects that with the salmon run coming, she can easily continue to do so, without any real adverse effects.

The tribe is very gratified to finally get some wild fruits and vegetables, the gatherers bringing back many baskets of the autumn's bounty.
>Remember, you will need to instruct the Tillersfane family, if you wish them to try and cultivate the seeds

The envoys sent to the River Brothers meet with a slightly warmer reception than the Earthsplitters gave, but not by very much. The River Brothers also agree to welcome Khoine's priests, on the condition that they do not attempt to 'spread their nonsense more than it is wanted'.

The Tillersfane do not think they can expand their fields too much more, without seriously cutting into their ability to care for the crops.

Several of the animals are slaughtered and provide 4 units of meat for the tribe.

I think if we want to get the rivers to get interested in religion, we might want to look into storytelling.
Make up or retell interesting stories that aren't obviously religious and then tell them.
In case that that is somehow what we'd want to happen.

EVENT
A strange party approaches the village gates one day. They wear a collection of animal furs and carry a selection of bows, spears and axes. One however, carries a long staff, topped by a disk of shining gold. To the astonishment of every last person in the village, they introduce themselves as none other than the Sun People! Though they are not admitted to the village, they are scrupulously polite and ask with great humility, ask to be allowed to speak with Mikuhla. They claim that, as he is chosen by their goddess, they wish for him to make a pilgrimage with them, to their village, claiming that the shrine built there is on a site very holy to Ermetha and that Mikuhla could greatly further his mastery and understanding there.

>How will the tribe respond?
a) Send Mikuhla with the Sun People
b) Send Mikuhla with an escort
c) Refuse
d) Attack
e) Other

Just dropped a line with anon and imp sooo if you're still here brit, I'm going to say B.

Not just any regular escort, however. This could be a chance to learn from them and put aside our past disagreements. For now at any rate.

I'd suggest 5 devouts and a couple of our more intelligent wise men to learn and exchange ideas.
>>
>>24595837
B)Maybe this time we can learn some stuff about the Sun People
>>
>>24595837
B, duh. Improve relations, level up Mickey, all that jazz, but if just in case, send Garren or somebody strong to watch his back.
>>
Although there is some slight reluctance to the idea, the risk of passing up something potentially of great value is considered too great. Mikuhla is fetched from his small shrine and speaks at great length with the sun people. Finally, a decision is reached and he agrees to travel with them, a small group of hunters travelling with him, as the devouts are not permitted by the Sun People. Instead, Mikuhla chooses some of the tribe that have been listening when he spoke of Ermetha in the past and the group departs at once, agreeing to send word in the spring and return in the new year.
