Freak Quest time!

In this quest, you take the role of a big armed, friendly freak, who is currently adventuring with his lizard like friend Joey.

Previous threads can be found here:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=freak+quest

In the last session, you finally reunited with Javak, and prepared to continue on your journey to the Yellow Bazaar. Before you left, you did some exploring in the nearby alleys however. There, you found a partly digested arm of the freak who had stalked you in the upper floor of the bar. Before you could find more interesting things, you found yourself in the way of a harvester grub and it's guardian, and were forced to retreat. A small gutterspawn also followed you back to Ivas, where it was unfortunately eaten by Joey.
After this, you finally departed towards the Yellow Bazaar.

>How this works:
Suggest an action and the freak will act. I will try to illustrate it as well as I can. Certain actions will require 1d10 rolls to see if they are successful. There are also slightly more complicated rules for combat:

>Combat rules:

There are 4 stats, Health, Strenght, Toughness and Agility. In addition, there is a "mana" bar, which gets reduced when abilities are used.

Attacks are handled as follows:
1d6+str+attack modifiers for attack strength.
1d6+agility for attack speed.

Attacks can be either blocked or dodged.
Blocking is 1d6+tou vs the attack strength.
Dodging 1d6+agility vs the attack speed.
In tie situations, the attack wins.

Damage is handled like this.
Attack strenght - toughness of the opponent.

The "mana" bar also works as an extra health pool. Basically, depending on how full it is (Green=mostly full, Yellow= about half left, Red= nearly empty), reaching zero health has different consequences. If the bar is green, the freak can still fight or flee, but takes double damage directly to the mana bar. If it is yellow, the freak is incapacitated and if it is red, the freak dies or suffers otherwise grave injuries.

Standard combat goes like this:

>1st post.
The first freak chooses to either use an ability, item or attack. Then he picks his defencive stance (either block or dodge). Finally, he rolls the number of dices needed, for standard attack, the dices are 3d6 (1st dice attack strenght, second speed, and the third to his defensive stance.) Some abilities may need different rolls, or no rolls at all.

>2nd post.
The repetition of the previous phase, for the opposing freak. Choosing between abilities, items or attack, and picking the defencive stance, and making the rolls.

>3rd post.
Resolution of the combat.

These rules are still work in progress, and I appreciate any input on them.

Here is your current inventory:
>3 empty small containers.
>1 full small containers (1 biogel dozes)
>1 medium container with 5 biogel dozes
>1 Pheromone package. (Strange syringe, aka aromaculi)
>Cutting tools.
>Claw arm.
>Improved walking eye bladder.
>1 ration package.
>Bone armor.
>Stalker's arm.

You are also equipped with a bone sword.
Joey has the bone knife.

You are currently inside the shell of Ivas. You have just been woken up by the noises coming from outside.
You are not sure where exactly you are.
Joey is still sleeping.
Javak and Ivas are quietly talking with each other.

What will you do?

>Updates might take longer than usual, as I need to keep drawing loads of new backgrounds.

No interest in Freak Quest today?
>>
>>24623661

Well, if people aren't interested in playing, I will run this quest on another date.
However, that date will be many weeks from now, as I need to focus on real life business.
Freak Quest will be in hiatus for probably few weeks or a month.

anyway try to ask about where we are going.

No worries, I am not dead.
Though, this session might not be as long as usual, as it started this late.

Anyways, you ask Javak that where you are going.

"To Yellow Bazaar of course. We are soon there. We just need to cross the grubway and go trough one of the passages between the 3 Yellow Towers."

>>

What about our package?
Could we try to ask about the scent marker and how to remove it but as discretely as possible.
Like "is there anything i should getting in contact with" or something.
>>
>>24625094
Can I attempt to temporarily poke my eyes out, I sense that there's going to be some eldritch horrors ahead that will punish me for looking at them.
>>
>>24625159

You haven't told Javak about the package yet, do you wish to inform him about it?
>>
>>24625094
Proceed as normal until we arrive. Wait patiently unless something disturbs Ivas or Jarvak. Say nothing about our new package.
>>
>>24625354
Yes but be nonchalant about it, just act like we forgot to mention it continue on with what he said the post your replying to.
>>
>>24625358

There seems to be conflicting ideas going on.
Which shall it be, tell about the package, or be silent about it?

(sorry for the slowness, I have been getting distracted from this)

go with this
>>
>>24625541
"hmm, an old clever freak eh? Maybe he could advise us about the delivery. I'm excited to see the Grubway."
Let that be the only mention we make of what happened in the bar.
>>
OP, from I what I remeber of the last thread, we voted to dump all of joeys new points from her biogel developing into strength. Shouldn't her str stat be higher then, or did she only get one point?

>>24625616

As the trip continues, you chat nonchalantly with Javak. The travel goes smoothly, and you do not mention anything about the package to him, yet at least.
As you exist the alley ways, and begin crossing the grubway, you gaze upon the massive size of the bony spires and other structures that border the wide path which seems to be the Grubway.
Many freaks and drones of various sizes and shapes busily move around Ivas, everyone seemingly very busy, and doing their best to not attract unwanted attention.
The harvester grubs, and their guardian drones are given a wide berth by the masses of freaks, as those foolish enough to venture too close are savagely attacked by the zealous guardians of the grubs.
Shrieks, howls and various other noises fill your ears as Ivas begins to carry you across the grubway.

"It won't be long now until we are at the Bazaar." Says Javak. "Yees, we are close now."

("Realistically" there would be way more freaks in this scene, but there is a limit on how much detail I can put into these drawings.)
>>24625810
Joey's starting strength was 0.
>>
>>24625877
So i assume the grubway is like a highway for grubs?
>>
>>24625877
>Joey's strength was zero
Damn. No wonder we voted to dump it into strength.

OP, how exactly does biogel become specialized? Can a gutterspawn control how their body changes, or does it respond to needs and stresses?
>>
>>24625927
>inb4 whats a highway
>>
>>24625877
Wake up joey, and if she's angry about it, offer her a bit of something to eat.
>>
>>24625927
That is exactly what it is.

>>24625936
>Can a gutterspawn control how their body changes, or does it respond to needs and stresses?

That really depends almost entirely on the gutterspawn in question. The development is due to a combination of genetic influences, psychological states and external stresses.

>>24625997
You begin to wake up Joey.

"..hmmgh..! What?..Where are we?" She mumbles as she opens her eyes and sits up.

>gonna eat something quickly, be right back.
Feel free to post suggestions for next actions, or questions etc.
>>
>>24626076
This might be weird question but are there any sporting events in gigerverse?
>>
>>24626142

Good question actually. I admit that I had never even really thought about that.
From the top of my head, I guess that there could be Gladiatorial arenas and some sort of aughound pit fights.
If you people have good ideas, feel free to suggest them.
>>
>>24626182
Blood bowl?

But in all seriousness anything like dog or horse racing or wrestling or something we can bet on to make a quick buck.
>>
>>24626319
I say we find someone, and bet them they can't beat a gutterspawn in arm wrestling, then beat them.
>>

From what you can remember from the vision, it seemed that the drop off place was quite far away from the bar.
You are not sure of you exact location right now, so you do not know how far the drop off location is.
>>
>>24626656
Why exactly are we going to the yellow bazaar again?
Is that even in the direction we want to go?
>>
>>24626760

In the earlier threads, some of you wanted to go with Javak to the Bazaar. Javak and Ivas are definitely going there, because that is where their "home" is. They are members of the Gobax guild, and they have few allies outside of the Bazaar. Some of you considered trying to join the Guild too.

Of course, if you want, you can just jump out of Ivas and try to head on your own. Though, you do not have any idea of where exactly you are now. You do not posses any maps.
>>
>>24626861
No, we tag along with javak until we figure how to remove the scent package and only then try to make our own way.
>>
>>24626905
So in other words sit down shut up until we get to our destination.
>>
>>24626962
I just really want to meet old Godal, I've built him up so much in my mind by now. I start to imagine him like Jabba the Hut, and if you please him he can make almost any desire come true.

Well, if that is the plan, let us continue.

After telling Joey that you are almost at the bazaar, you sit back and continue to observe the new vistas unfolding around you.
Tall spires, buzzing with activity, streets full of travelers of all shapes and sizes, the yelling and screaming of the travelers is muffled with the roars of large drones and the shrieks of various flying creatures zooming between the spires.

Eventually, you finally pass trough one of the gaps between the massive spires, and lay your eyes upon a large plaza, full of various structures, and filled with freaks. Even from this distance, you can hear the buzz of noises coming from the market places littered across this plaza. Countless merchants trying to sell their various merchandise to the even more numerous masses of travelers. Large transport beasts moving trough the streets, carrying loads of merchandise and freaks to their destinations, trade caravans, some returning, others departing, all the while being guarded by vicious looking mercenaries.
This place is an entirely different world from the alleyways.

Javak looks upon your bewildered expression, and smirks.
"Welcome, to the Yellow Bazaar!"

(Also again, realistically, this place is filled with freaks, but I can't waste time drawing the masses.

Ivas begins to travel towards the guildhall at the other end of the Bazaar. The crowds make moving trough the streets somewhat slow, despite the fact that they tend to give Ivas room when they see him approach.

>>24627689
How are the people of the Bazaar In general? What is the attitude towards gutterspawn?
>>
>>24627689
So is Godal the headhancho-muchagrande of this guild or just a middle muckamuck?
>>
>>24627862

Javak gives gives you a quick, confused look, before clearing his breath and saying:

"...Well, that depends generally on who you ask..understand that the denizens of the bazaar are not an unified lot..we all have our own loyalties to one of the guilds that run this place. Our only unity is in our stance against Ultross, The Witches, and the Nobles...but even that isn't entirely certain...Gutterspawn..are an opportune resource..as new members, and in ..other things...Yeees...recruiting is less costly than commissioning drones.."

>>24627880

"Yeees, Godal is the leader of Guild Golbax. We are traders, merchants and transporters...we can take merchandise to other parts of the district very easily..but we are not the only guild.
There are others too. Osdul, the bone crafters, Serica, the silk weavers, the flesh molders of Ciber, the alchemists of Nozl and many minor guilds and other, unaligned traders..many flesh Grafters also make home here, some of our competing guilds like Ciber were founded by them...which is why the Witches have their preying eyes upon us.."

(I am starting to doubt that I will be able to finish this session properly. It is almost 1.30 am.)
>>
"How long does it take to get... big?"

Asking about growing up into an adult freak.
>>
>>24628110

"Well...depends on the spawn..yeees. Some never grow big...you are already quite large for a gutterspawn..which is good..yeees..small gutterspawn are easy prey."
>>
>>24628102
Any other major guilds we should know of besides enemy's? Allies?
>>
>>24628102
I've heard a lot about ultross are they particularly big? Any history?

Don't worry about this session bro, it was pretty slow because no one seemed interested.
>>
>>24628182

"Hah!..No guild has allies..we are all at war with each other..but we all need each other..Alone, we would all fall to the witches, one by one. Yeees..the witches are stronger than they appear..the scheming whores seek to annihilate or subjugate us all..make us their slaves.
Gobax guild is needed by the others, because of our good ties to Lienis, and their nectar reservoirs..we also have the largest standing force of transporters, like Ivas here. Isn't that right Ivas?"

"Yes, it is true. No other guild can compare to our transporting capacity."

"We even have a Bladdership! Lienis is the only other group that has them in this region. The other guilds need our services to get their merchandise where it needs to go. The Osdul may be masters of bone crafting, but without us, their fancy bone swords and armor would never reach the low markets of the coast. Yeees...Godal practically rules this whole bazaar!"

>>24628243

"Hmph! Ultross...he is no-one. A weakling usurper, who managed to unify the gangs of the alleys to drive Lienis out of the place. He is a fool, that will be crushed by the impossibility of his rule. Without the Nobles, the alleys will eventually descend into chaos..Ultross will not be able to keep the gangs together much longer, even if he has the well in his control. He will be crushed, and the proper order will be established back to the alleys...yeees..and we will be once again, free to do our business there."
>>
>>24628389
So I assume the alleys have gone through many Ultross's Yes?

"What...no..well, I do not know, but Ultross is only such fool in recent memory. He will be put down, like the rabid beast he is, in due time. That is just how the city works..nothing ever changes, the nobles make sure of that.
Anyways, we have reached our destination..yeees, this is the shipping port of Guild Golbax.

You see various other freaks moving around the structure as you approach. When they notice Ivas and Javak, they begin to wave and greet them.

"Look! It's Javak and Ivas! They are ok!"

"Javak and Ivas! You are finally back!" Says one of them.

"We and the boys were starting to fear that Ultross goons had ganged you."

"Tell us, are the rumors true? Is there really a new well in the alleys?"

"Yes there is! I was there to see it myself."

"You need to speak to Godal about this! He has been anxious to get some reliable news from those gutter filth filled streets."

"Yeah, what is going on in there! I have heard that Lienis forces have been slaughtered, and that Ultross is already on the march to claim the Bazaar!"

"You should not listen to every drunk who flaps his mouth Keal! All I know is that Ultross is amassing forces to claim the well, nothing more, nothing less. I will report that to Godal, after I have gotten a change to eat something."

The other Freaks continue to pester Javak for info on what is going on in the Alleys. Ivas begins to move towards the openings underneath the flesh shade.
"You younglings should hop out now." He says. "I am going to go to rest now, I haven't fed in days. Talk to Javak, he will tell you what to do."

I'd say we trade the claw arm for that wrist spike, unless attaching the claw is a simple matter, in which case I say keep it. Digestor is basically a transportable, stomach, that can be used to transform raw meat, skin, sinew and other "junk" organic material into a nutrient slurry, that is edible. The slurry can be further refined into different substances, with right equipment.

Swarm capsules are fist sized hives full or inert bee like organisms, that will spring to life when the capsule is broken, and ferociously attack the closest living being they perceive. Their stings contain mild acids and neurotoxins, but in massive swarms, the venom is enough to paralyze even large freaks, and cause horrific, melting wounds.
The little creatures die after stinging, or after about 3 minutes from awakening, as they expend all their energy in about that time.
Basically, they are bee bombs.

I had the finals last year. I have been supposed to study for University exams the last two months, but I haven't even started yet. The exams are in two weeks. I will fail. I have basically repeated the mistakes I did last year, by procrastinating studies, and wasting my time on this site. Last year it was with primordial games, this year with various things, including Freak quest.
I have a year of misery ahead of me.
(Yeah, I am pretty depressed. This is just escapism for me.)

>>24630218
Oh, it seems that I forgot to put in it's price.
It costs 3 dozes of biogel. It is not an aug however. It is literally, a bone shield.

>>24630226
The swarm capsules are one use.
So are the various boosters too btw.
Basically, they give you a temporary boost to a certain stat for a limited time, before fading away.

Well, I am gonna go to sleep now.
Feel free to continue discussing on what to buy.
I will try to figure out some good time to continue this quest.
But, now, I need to sleep.
Also, would someone mind archiving this?
Anyways, good night.
>>
I'm up for getting joey that wrist spike, or the poison jaw, unless the jaw is only good for poison and doesn't actually enhance her ability to bite. We can trade some of those thin things or that organ for some meat. Other than that, I say we keep the armor and the containers
>>
>>24629830
hm if we can find another claw combined with some harpoon tongues and tentacle boils spliced together into one form would great one hell of a nasty aug. Basically combined claws opens up tentacles and and ridged spikes spring forth to latch on and then pull the enemy towards us and the claws.

As for parts to acquire now I vote for the poison fang and slime gland.

On an unrelated note about gigerworld is the idea of a kind of aughound or drone thing which can modify/use the parts of other dead aughounds thus allowing those corrupted parts to not go to waste.
>>
Perhaps we can turn Joey's Tail into a death trap with harpoon tongue and injector. The harpoon prevents escape and drags the target into the twin spines that both inject some form of poison.

The concept behind such a freak is just frightening. I wonder if an aughound would be able to graft more to itself, considering how it's mind is pretty much fried.

I am not a big fan of either the dagger or the sword, as they can be easily taken from us. More permanent upgrades such as the armor which will be grafted onto the MC are better.

Look at the roles each member fulfills and go from there. MC is a brick wall/ berserker, and Joey is eyes, ears, and a knife in the back.

MC: Armor plate, maybe tou/ str boost if permanent. These things cannot be taken so easily. Up next, what does the nerve ganglia do, extra utility never hurts

Joey: Slime gland, based off of freak quest: feral, joey doesnt need to be stronger, she needs to be better at escaping and not in situations where she can be pinned down. The slime is a huge boon, and makes it so we dont have to entirely re-direct her development.

Poison fang is cool, but we have a poison stinger on the tail. Selling the dagger and picking up a wrist spike, or perhaps two, could be quite smart.

t;/dr

Sell the dagger, obtain two wrist blades, slime, and possibly a nerve ganla for joey

Obtain armor, and str/ tou if they are permanent, if not, fuck it, same with the juz. Focus on being a wall of meat and rage.

of interest is the digester. Considering that MC doesnt like to murder gutterspawn, we either need to find people who want to kill us and eat them, or get this thing...and possibly implant it in ourselves. we can feed joey like mama bird. not serious on the very last part.
>>
>>24632679
Such a creature would have the ability to still be intelligent despite their state/insanity. I would guess they would be quite rare even by aughound standards and are the only things capable of easily preying on them, including heavily modified drones/freaks.
>>
>>24635432
The tradeoff of actual weapons is that they cannot contribute toward aughound madness, and we've had quite a few added fairly quickly.
>>
>>24635910
We need to talk to FQOP, but I think that it is not only the number, but the severity. Everything added so far is quite minor. Perhaps something for OP to think about is a caution meter, or warning. The ugprades that give into a freaks base desires seemed to be the bigger issue. Joey is predatorial, giving her the tongue and maw...a little bit of a bad idea considering how much she likes blood and flesh.

tl/dr: we need to talk to OP to find out if we are pushing too hard.
>>
>>24635994
Oh, yeah. We only have some plating and that adrenal gland. Joey has more intrusive augs than we do. Coupled with her having an addictive personality... I don't want to think about it.

However, looking back at the time that we used the gland, I can see our main guy erring on the side of caution.
>>
>>24636414
Figure the armor plate and strength cant hurt, but the gland operated as advertised. Berserker juice= berserk. Once we get that armor on us, we are covered on the chest and back. Our big arm has some soft spots that could stand to be plated over. ultimate goal? Encased in armor.

Ok, I am back.

Is anyone still here?

>>24635432

The str, agi and tou boosters are temporary. Basically, they are injectors filled with stuff that either supercharge the adrenaline production of the user, make his reaction time much faster, or dampen his pain receptors, for a limited time.

The nerve ganglia makes for faster reflex speed, as it basically forms additional, small neural hubs in the user's body, that will be able to handle information fast before it reaches the brains.
It ads a bonus to dodge rolls.
(If you guys have additional ideas for what it could do, feel free to share.)

The idea behind the digester is that it is basically a transportable item. It is not really and augment.

>>24635994
>>24636414

The aughound madness comes in many forms, but the most common one occurs when the augments begin to define the freak, more than his own personality. Basically, when the freak becomes a nothing more, than the augments it has.
Game wise, neither of MC or Joey has that many augs yet. You are not yet really in danger of going bonkers.
>>
>>24638965
I'm here. Just waiting for updates since theirs enough posts for a decision.
>>
>>24638965
still here man
>>
>>24639055
>>24639217

Ok then, what will you guys want to buy?

You can sell the bone knife for 3 biogel.
>>
>>24639274
Buy slime gland for joey.
>>
>>24639290

Only that?

You buy the slime gland for 2 dozes of biogel.

The gland secretes hormones and genetic material that will stimulate the sweat glands in the user's skin to develop into slime glands.
The slime allows the user to slip away from foes more easily. It confers a 1 dodge bonus, and 2+ to agility based grapple escaping rolls.

Remember, that you also need biogel to graft the gland into Joey.
>>
What does injector do?
>>
>>24639344

The injector is a toll that can be used to either inject, or suck up liquids from things.
It allows easier harvesting of blood, nectar and other fluids from corpses, and it can also be used to deliver poisons to foes.
>>
>>24638965
ok, with that known

MC-Armor plate, finish making our tank arm. See if merchant has a spare pincher like ours.

Joey- Slime and Nerve Ganlia, sell dagger, gain 1 or two extendable wrist blades if dagger sale is profitable.- She will be our gibson razor girl.

Extra- ask merchant if he can ID the hand he have in our inventory.

Extra- Shoot straight with Javek, find out about the "other" uses for gutter spawn. After joey eating one, we get the idea.
>>
>>24639482
Nah don't bother with more armor plating just trade the knife for the wrist spike and be done with it.
>>
>>24639482

You sell the dagger for 3 biogel, making your total biogel count 9.

The armor plate costs 1, doze of biogel.
The nerve ganglia and slime gland both cost 2 biogel.
The wrist blade costs 3 biogel.

All together, these purchases cost 8 biogel.
Remember, that you need to have biogel to attach these new augments to yourself. You might want to buy some of these items at a later date.

The merchant doesn't posses pincer arms right now, but is willing to buy yours.
He also can't really say much about the arm. It looks standard to him, but he says that if you want more throughout analysis on it, you should ask Rotur.
>>
>>24639619
Yeah sell the claw arm but don't bother with the armor. Although I'm not sure which would be more useful only get the slime gland for joey now and we can pick up the ganglia later.
>>
>>24639659

You sell the claw arm too, raising your biogel count to 12.
So, the purchase list is currently this:
-wrist spike, 3 biogel.
-slime gland, 2 biogel.
-ganglia, 2 biogel. (?)

The ganglia might be useful out of combat too. I am kinda trying to come up with more interesting ideas for it, than just a flat +1 boost to dodging.
>>
>>24639732
I'd really like to obtain the armor.
-dont know if its worth a shot, but since we were such good customers, and even bought at store prices, maybe he would be willing to throw in the armor as part of the bundle, with a little joey pheromone persuasion. If not, will buy.

-Also ask who, and where to find Rotur.
>>
>>24639841

The armor is actually quite small, which is why it is so (relatively) cheap.
You can try to roll for the pheromone influence.
roll 1d10, number to beat, 6.

So, I take that you also buy the nerve ganglia?

Joey manages to persuade the merchant to give the armor plate as an extra to you purchases.

You buy one wrist spike, the slime gland, and the nerve ganglia for 7 biogel.
You are left with 5 dozes of the stuff.

You do not know exactly where this Rotur person is, other than that he is inside the structure.
Javak is still chatting with his merchant friends. Ivas has gone inside the structure trough one of the openings underneath the shade.

>>24640060
The bone armor is about 1/3rd of the size of the one you have over your fist.

>>24640029
I love it!

>>24640081
The nerve ganglias are kinda like the things octopuses have on their tentacles. Basically, mini brains responsible for handling the sensory input and commands for specific parts of the body. The only functional use I could come up for them was the enhanced reflexes. I am not sure if they would really help with learning, or eating brains. Surviving blows to head that would otherwise knock one out or paralyze you might be a thing that they enable.

"Welcome to the Halls of Golbax..and welcome back Javak. Are the two younglings with you?"

"Hi Sena! Yeah, they are. I found them in the alleys, and they have proven themselves to be quite resourceful. They are wishing to talk to Rotur, do you know if he is available."

"..I think that he is with Godal and the rest of the council in a meeting..the grave rumors from the alleys have put everyone here on high alert. Actually, Godal instructed me to direct any members of the guild that are returning from the alleys directly to him."

"Well..it seems that I can't go to grab that meal I planned...Yeees.. I need to deliver the news to him urgently. Sena, could you do me a favor? Watch over these two, maybe give them a spare room or something while I deal with my duties."

You climb the staircase, and enter the room directly on your right.
The room is kinda small, and appears to not have been in use for some time.
There are ragged pieces of leather and other trash scattered around the floor, and you can see various small critters skitter to shadows and crevices as you enter the room.

Joey doesn't seem to mind. She happily walks to the bed and sits down.
"I like this! It is small! Outside was too open, too much to see. This place is tiny, and nice...safe.."
She looks around a bit, and then looks at you again.
"I am hungry..do we have any food?"

It seems that there isn't anything to eat here. The pots on the floor are mostly empty, you only find few scraps of skin on the bottom.

There is a window from which you can see to outside. The noises from the bazaar can be heard echoing trough it.

You ask Joey if she would like to get the augs installed.

"Sure! I hope they are fun! I like the earss..and if the new augss make me better, I will be happy!"

It will cost you 3 dozes of biogel to install all the augments. You currently have 5 dozes of it.

let joey choose the wrist spike for whatever hand she wants. Slime i guess is internal. Same with the nerve ganglia.

Tack bone armor onto the lower half of our little arm, or perhaps a shin, pointy end towards elbow or knee, for those brutal blows.

Let joey have the skin scraps, lick the dregs of the biogel left over, and see if she cant catch any of the room vermin for the duo to eat. MC seems to have a slower metabolism.

these seem to be simple augs, the big aug is going to be MC's chest and head armor, for which we will need the grafter, and for possibly the chameleon like capability of the hand.

Alright then.
You begin to graft the augments to Joey and yourself.
Emulating on what Javak has taught to you on this subject, you carefully start cutting open Joey's flesh, in order to insert the two glands into her. The biogel she drank makes her numb to the sensations of pain, and she sits almost completely still and silent during the whole operation. After about half an hour, you are done with her, and she rises up, inspecting the new organ on her right hand.

"..it tingles..but how do I control it?" She waves her arm around, seemingly somewhat frustrated due to the fact that she can't get the bone spike out.
"Why is it not working?"

You still have to install the bone plates. It will only take about half a doze of biogel as it is such a simple operation.

You currently have 2 dozes of biogel left.
>>
>>24642049
Tell joey not to worry. The augs are freshly implanted, and will take some time for them to mesh with her bodies natural functions and nerves. She can take a doze of biogel to buy some meat if she's still hungry, or better yet, ask Sena if we can get some food.

While joey eats, do our little armor thing

Joey seems to be getting more and more agitated as you the little freak from her.
"Give it to me! You big dumb bully! Give it to me! I want to eat it! I am still hungry! Look how skinny I still am! You don't need to eat it! You are fat enough! I want it I want it I want it!! I will bite you! Give it to me!"

If you don't calm her down, you might really have to brawl over the little freak.
What will you do?

>>24644468
Most of it is.

Usually, I draw the largest and most complicated background pictures before starting the quest, but other, general backgrounds I draw as the quest goes on. I also reuse loads of old backgrounds.
The characters in them however, are drawn as the quest goes on.

>>24625877
>>24627199
These two backgrounds were drawn beforehand.
>>
>>24644642
"B-b-big dumb bully?

F-f-fine, if that's how you really think of me than you have stupid freak."

And then run away in crying fit.
>>
>>24644642
Man joey as one hell of a fast metabolism. Anyway tell Joey that uh well we can get more food when the other freak returns.

Also as a possible errand we need to do is get the armor we got re-outfitted for us so we can use it.
>>
>>24644789
>>24644963

You act offended, and say that you will be getting more food when the other freak comes back.
Joey is not very pleased with this.
"But I want to eat now! You can't tell me what to do!"
She seems to be more angry about you going against her will, than due to her hunger.

(I am kinda out of ideas, so I apologize for this segment.)
>>
>>24645199
Hug her tight and tell her everything's going to be all right.

As she continues to yell at you, you quickly grab her into a hug in order to calm her down.
She is at first surprised, then confused and even angered, but the trick works, and you manage to calm her down.

"I am ssorry.." she mumbles as she hugs you back.
"Letss not fight again.."

However, as you two hug, the little freak in the chest pops the lid open again, and jumps out.
"My position has been compromised!" it yelps, as it starts sprinting out of the doorway.

(again, I apologize for this admittedly weird section. As I said, I don't have that many good ideas right now.)

Guess we should just wait for Rotar.
>>
>>24645821
Psychochest was a fun little dude. I hope we see him again, but now I'm a little suspicious. Is he a spy? Or just another gutterspawn? Tell joey of our newly developed suspicion about the Psychochest, and try to catch him, to find out what he's up to. If he's just another spawn, he better make himself useful, or joey will get her wish
>>
>>24645821
AND THEN SEX
>>
>>24646139
The MC might not even have genitals, same with Joey. The gender could be purely psychological.

I'm not completely sure but I remember FQop mentioning that successful breeding is rare.

As you are about to tell Joey about your suspicions on the little freak that was hiding in the chest, you hear someone enter the room.

"Alright I am back...did I interrupt something?" says Javak, as he stumbles upon you two.

(sorry this took this long.)

>>24646200
You are correct. Successful breeding is quite rare, but that doesn't of course, mean that there aren't genders. The main reason for the lack of successful breeding is the fucked up nature of the genetics of the freaks. They are almost all, functionally sterile. Occasionally, mostly due to change, a breeding results in a viable offspring, but again, this is very rare.
>>
>>24646495
Got two errands that need doing. First to see the one guy about the arm and then to get the armor outfitted for us.

You quickly separate yourselves from each other, and after a brief moment of silent awkwardness, Javak continues.

"...So, anyways...Rotur..he seems to be busy today...and he told me to bring you two to him tomorrow, when he has time..yeees..the night time is soon upon us. I would suggest for you two to rest..tomorrow, I will take you to see Rotur, and even Godal. You can use this room for the time being."

(I will end this soon, the quality of my posts has visibly dropped, so I will not prolong this any further.)

Feel free to ask things from Javak, if you want to, and make plans for the next session. I will also be able to discuss stuff for couple of hours.

Also, remember that the Journal's purpose is to work as a reminder of sorts, of your collective plans and goals. Feel free to suggest stuff what you want to be added to it.
>>
>>24647136
You didn't happen to see a very small fella running around the halls with a knife did you?
>>
>>24647265

Javak thinks for a moment, and then says:

"I might have seen a small freak skittering around int the shadows. What of it? That isn't exactly unusual. Gutterspawns sneak in all the time. They think that they are safer in these chambers than they are in the streets."
>>
>>24647471
Oh nothing just heard some things. Anyways did you have fun at your big guild meeting?
>>
>>24647592

"Don't you worry your head about the Guild business. Godal and the rest of the council were planning very important things, that I can't reveal..yeees..important plans. Do not worry, I told Godal of how you two helped me to find Ivas and get back here. He is interested in meeting you tomorrow. Now, get some rest, I can get you more food, if you so wish."

(I am getting pretty tired. Do you guys have any objections if I end the session here?)
>>
>>24647778
No it's fine if you want to end here we had a pretty long session.
>>
>>24647778
Tell Javak we're grateful he's helped us find this place, and given us a chance to become productive. Then, tell him that he should really just let joey pick out some food, since she's always starving.

You thank Javak for bringing you here, to which he responds with a simple laugh:
"The pleasure is all mine..yeees.. you have been great help to me. Consider this a repayment."

You also tell him that Joey is still quite hungry, and that she might need some food.

"I can arrange that. Chaka will bring two some more food. I will be leaving now. Sleep tight you two."

With that, Javak walks away.
Joey glances at you quickly and says.
"..thanks..I am not that hungry, but more food is sstill good."

It does't take long for the familiar freak to arrive at your door again, with some meat and drinks.
You thank her and bring the new tray back to the room.
You and Joey eat the meal happily, and watch as the ominous red glow coming from the window slowly fades away, as the darkness of the night starts to rise over the city.

"I am getting ssleepy" says Joey, after finishing her meal. Without further word, she crawls to the bed, and curls up. You finish off your meal too, and lay on the bed next to her. It doesn't take long for both of you to fall asleep.

>End of session.

Comments, criticism and questions are welcome as always.
Also, feel free to suggest things that should be added to the journal so you may keep track of your plans and objectives.

with the afternath of the game, I know OP felt it was not to his satisfaction, but that random gutterspawn in the box was great. I also think that with them being able to talk, yet sort of being food, it is a good way to explore the nature of the freaks, as we encounter them more and more often, do they become less and less unique, alive, and consequently more disposable and easy to kill?

I sort of enjoyed Mr.Psychobox as opposed to Mr.Mypile. He had a shank, and he was either a spy, or delusional to the point of thinking himself an elite agent. both awesome.
>>
>>24655795
Meat obviously comes from somewhere, and that is another thing. Is it gutterspawn? Soilent green is made of freaks! Are these little guys rounded up every now and then for food? where does food come from? Did we just eat testicles?

Anyone still in this thread?
I would be interested in discussing stuff about the gigerverse itself.
>>
>>24661628
I'm still lurking. Do you have anything in specific about the setting in mind?
>>
>>24661988

Well, general stuff, like the guilds, and the level of technology going on in the setting. How well do the grafters and expert artisans of the guilds understand the nature of their world, and so on.
What sort of biotech is going on in the world anyways, besides the obvious things. Do they know about using viruses as weaponry or other, more subtler forms of biotech?
>>
>>24662102
Might be a good idea to list what we know of so far.
First off, we have the Golbax Trade Guild, which we seem likely to join up with. The guild seems to have ties with House Kefil (which we don't know anything about yet).

Then there is the Vatmother Cult. I think that they have a vast sum of knowledge about flesh-crafting of all sorts.

House Lienis has got to be one of the noble houses. So far, we know that it has freaks who can fly in its employ. The last we've seen of them was when they took control of the boil.

And last, but not least, Ultros. From judging from recent descriptions, this Ultros guy built a cult of personality and has united several gangs under his control. Also, it seems to me that they have an identifiable style in their armor.

As for some tech, some augs do have genetic locks of sorts, such as the spine.
>>
>>24663064

You have good points there.

One thing that could be pretty helpful for me, are augment ideas. I am kinda ashamed to admit, that I have been starting to run short on ideas for those things. That is why the item selection of the last merchant you saw had so much reused stuff and ideas.
I guess that I just need to find sources for interesting ideas. Weird adaptations in nature or interesting biotech.
>>
>>24663409
Reading the first thread, a couple things can be added just for flavor, such as body parts that resemble an unmutated human. Then there are functional things like eyes that can see infrared, limbs with an unusual number of joints, second heart, etc.
>>
>>24663552
By first thread, I meant the Gigerverse setting thread.

suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/16748756
>>
>>24663552
>>24663586

Yeah, there was loads of good stuff in the original creation threads.
Also, are there any other topics people would be interested in discussing?
The primary reason for me to start this quest in the first place, was to revive the gigerverse setting itself.
>>
What is the time difference between the main quest and Tale of Thrax? Old Uzal being badly injured could be some big news for the surrounding areas.
>>
>>24665128

Tale of Thrax takes place around the same time as the main crew were in the Bar.
And yeah, old Uzal being weakened is a plot point.
>>
>>24665271
I look forward to more Thrax.

also. grab gutterspawn around the neck with one hand. place thumb under lower jaw. flick thumb upward. remove head. drink like a squeeze juice bottle.
>>
>>24667999

I will try to continue the story of Thrax when I get a good opportunity.
Currently reading trough the old gigerverse creation threads. A good refreshing blast of ideas from the past.
I can't believe how much excellent stuff that was posted in those threads I had actually forgotten.

I kinda feel like I have even somewhat bastardized the original concepts behind the setting, with the quest. The emphasis used to be much more in the simple struggle of survival, mutations, deformities, body horror and just plain horror, than the adventure like theme I seem to be having with the quest.
Ah well, I guess that is the result of pondering about this setting alone for so long. I forgot many of the important bits that were part of the setting when it was made.
>>
>>24668482
Even in those threads, there were a number of options for different versions of the Gigerverse. Different people using the same basic setting always give it their own spin. In the lower levels and gutters, things probably are about mutations and survival. Choices made in the early threads just put us in the fast-lane to the more organized areas of the city. Also, there's the general differences between a quest and a full RPG.
Although if all of the rules are worked out and expanded upon, the system could end up as the actual ruleset for Mundus Carnis.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/14Po6lNzbyr9KPRsDUedUtU5xKnYLqUUjdaK5IsjKdpM/edit?pli=1&hl=en_GB
>>
>>24669119

You are correct in that regard.
The decisions players made in the first thread really set out the path straight out of the gutters for the MC and Joey.
If people hadn't returned to the well, or if they had killed the merchant, Mc and Joey would have had no idea of what to do with the biogel.
In addition, they also gained a significant amout of biogel straight from the start. The true value of the stuff hasn't really been revealed yet in the quest itself.
Here is a hint:
Remember in the Tale of Thrax, how he had a pouch full of nectar shards. 35 of them are worth slightly more than one doze of biogel. Those shards are the standard currency. One doze of biogel itself, is maybe around a deciliter.

Also, I doubt that I will expand much more on the ruleset of this quest, as I try to keep it as simple as possible. The rules are only for combat purposes only. Other things that would in proper rpgs have stats, I handle in more free form style.
>>
>>24669442

I wonder how hard it would be to make a simple game set in this world. Some sort of basic, top down rpg could work, with varied augments one could get. Maybe just a small combat game, with procedurally generated mazes of tunnels and chambers, filled with more and more dangerous aughounds.
Though, what do I know? I have no knowledge of game design.

the survival, horror is something i started to explore in a more lighthearted, at least for me, fashion in FQ:Side story. Ive had a hard time continuing on with it due to a high degree of dissatisfaction, and plan a reboot.

As for more human looking augmentations, ill post some of the art i did based off that very concept. I imagine freaks who are either "lucky" or very vein will seek out these things.
