What time is it? It's VALKYRIAN MERCS QUEST time!Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Valkyrian%20Mercs%20QuestPastebin: http://pastebin.com/mJ8rxjAxYou are JAGER STURMFUHRER, leader of the fledgling mercenary company DEMONS OF RANDGRIZ. In addition to fighting Imps for money and vengeance, you have your own private mission to hunt down Karla, your former fiance who sided with the Imperials and destroyed your home. You've recently arrived in the Federation nation of Albion to help defend it against a possible amphibious attack. However, your boots barely hit the deck before you were assigned a mission to break up a spy ring. However, through a chain of extraordinary events, you not only smashed the spy ring apart, but also managed to capture an Imperial u-boat (mostly) intact. After a massive victory party that left you with a headsplitting wakeup call, you met with the mysterious and totally trustworthy Colonel Lynch of the Albion Intelligence service. He's agreed to help pay for repairs and maintenance of the u-boat, now christened the Vergeltung, in return for being able analyze it.After rooting out more Imperial spies, you were sent out with the Vergeltung to investigate a possible staging point for Imperial infiltrators, only to find that it was a staging point for the entire Imperial invasion fleet. Thinking quickly, you came up with a daring (and crazy) plan to sink the Imperial flagship, the Lion of the Empire, which you somehow managed to pull off.Now that you've returned, and with proof that there really is an Imperial invasion fleet out there, the Federation can no longer ignore the imminent danger to Albion, and preparations for a defense are under way.(cont)

I suggest.POWER - 1000Plastic Explosive - 1000Composite Armor (Vehicles Only) - 2000Total 4000Remaining:1850As to the EXP I suggest Tarin and Ramirez.
>>24652896So. Weapon harness(1500), Rossmore shotgun(1000), and Plastic Explosive(1000) is my thoughts. (3500 total)In terms of XP. Do we need to level up Jager? Or does he just get plot XP? If we don't need to I would say Ramirez, Tarin, and Beech. If we do need to then switch Beech for Jager.
>>24653010I second Tarin, though I wonder how we level Jager himself.
>>24653010>POWER - 1000You should specify which class weapon you want to upgrade. Rifles, SMGs, Lances, etc.
I thought we already bought the harness?
Level up one or two or the scouts, they've been used by us a lot, especially with our stealth approach. Although that method of combat may be obsolete with the invasion force and everything.
>>24652896Hmmm, I'll be voting for Weapon Harness, the Shotgun and that Composite Armor.
>>24653010To specify. The power is for the MGs.
Personally I would up the STURMFUHRER's level up first. Mainly agility or strength. And Composite Armor is something we need to get at the very least.

On the other hand strength is also 0 which makes me want to up that too. Toughness boosts naturally. For Tarin also thinking accuracy or a second add on to agillity. While for Julia I want to go for a random potential.

It will replace on of their grenade slots.Once again, you're sitting in Lynch's now very familiar office as he tries to debrief you on just what exactly happened on the Crag. Well, after he's finished calmly yelling at some poor officer over the phone."Yes, you heard me. Recall all ships that aren't currently on Critical Assignments. I don't care if the Oseans and Yuktobanians complain. They have their own navies, they should actually get around to using them for once."Lynch sighs and hangs up the phone. "I suppose I should thank you, Captain Sturmfuhrer. Your actions have saved us from getting caught in a surprise invasion. At least we have some time to prepare for it now.""Just earning my pay, Colonel." You reply cautiously."Quite." Lynch nods. "Unfortunately, there's no time for R&R. There's no telling when the Imperials will decide to invade. While the sinking of the Lion of the Empire has certainly hampered their plans, with a man like the Red Swallow leading them, the question won't be whether they launch an attack or not, but when."Lynch then rolls out a map of the harbor and the surrounding beaches in front of you."We believe the Imperial forces will center their efforts on this harbor, since it is the only one on Albion's east coast which would be able to accommodate the number of forces they're bringing. We've divided the area into three defense sectors. To the north is rocky with high bluffs. which would give our forces a large height advantage, but will provide cover for invading forces. To the south is open beach, which will allow easy landings but no cover for the invaders. They could also try landing in the harbor itself, but it is the most fortified section of our defense line.(cont)

"The Red Swallow is a very formidable opponent, and I have no doubt his presence alone would be able to break our lines. However, if he were to gain knowledge of where a certain Captain Sturmfuhrer was deployed on the line...""...then he'll take the bait and come straight for me." You finish."Correct. The second wave will be better informed and hence, more dangerous. That's when we strike. However if the landing craft try to back off of the beach, go ahead and try to sink them. Derelict craft littering the beach is going to make it that much harder for other boats to land.

You're quite amazed that they're still pressing ahead despite the horrid losses, but you suppose that they're more scared of the Red Swallow than whatever they'll face on the beach.Julia's shell and Sam's lance manage to find targets, sending another boat up in flames while the other is struck dead in the water, forcing its troops to bail prematurely.Alek manages to headshot the driver of another boat, causing it to slam into jagged rock formation and sending men and material flying everywhere.Only three boats manage to make it to the beach intact. The troops disembark, though several are picked off by rifle and MG fire. There's easily thirty troops on the beach with another twenty five scattered in the water. The minefield has been thinned out to the point where it won't serve as an effective obstacle any more.>Your orders?
>>24657910>>24657919>>24657937Coastal defense guns that can't actually target the coast. You've got to be fucking kidding me. There is literally no excuse for the rampant stupidity exhibited by the Feds. Seriously, helping the Imps kill them all would be doing the world a favor.
Continue firing everything seems the best option.
>>24658096When they reach the mine field throw frag grenades at them. Keeping shooting them all the way up.
Rolled 9, 7, 18 = 34>>24658096Not much choice here. Blow all the troops brains clear out with a barrage.
>>24658109But the Imps are ~EviL~ anon!
>>24658096Have Vergeltung go back and reload now, presumably they know its combat load and will be ready to send tanks when they think it's blown its wad so if we have it reload now before they think that's happened we may be able to catch some tank reinforcements off guard.other than that, target the guys on the beach first, the ones in the water are no threat till they make it to land.
>>24658159I'll go ahead and second this
>>24658158Actually, they pretty much are.I mean, damn near everyone in Europa is racist against the Darcsens, but the Imps take it to a whole new level.Wait.Command, Karla isn't a Darcsen-hater, is she?
>>24658109The coastal guns are on the top of the bluffs. They can't depress far enough to hit the beach. That's one of the weaknesses of this position.
>>24658235Should have designed the guns to work as artillery then, so they could arc it up onto the beach.
>>24658264It just be better to have howitzers on the rear lines firing down onto the beach and having direct fire guns at the beach line. But we don't have any howitzers or mortars ... fucking feds.
Rolled 20, 14, 19, 20, 9, 7, 20, 12, 14, 19, 20, 1 = 175>>24658096You decide to initiate another round of shooting on the beach.
>>24658304We sure could use a 203 mm Howitzer Motor Carriage M43. Or whatever the British equivalent may be.
>>24658373Thats a lot of 20s and 19s.
Rolled 3, 10, 7 = 20>>24658373Out of a max possible of 175 out of a max of 240. Them good odds.
>>24658420..bloody hell Mean 175 out of a max possible of 240
>>24658373The storm of fire is punishing. Direct hits by Julia's cannon and Sam's frag missiles, as well as supporting fire from the rest of the squad, basically annihilate the landing force."Fourth wave, sir!" Alek warns. "I count another ten ships and... something else...""I don't like the sound of that, Alek." You grimace."Tanks! They got goddamn floating tanks and they're coming right for us!" Alek yells. You grab your binoculars and take a look at the approach ships. You see ten boxy shapes which are undoubtedly the landing ships, and right in front of them are smaller, sleeker silhouettes. They're the top of the turrets of Imperial tanks. You're guessing medium tanks, though one of them is much MUCH larger than the rest. And they all have their fronts painted bright red.Now you sort of regret agreeing to Lynch's crazy plan.>And that's it for tonight! Tune in on Friday 6-7 PST for the next part of VALKYRIAN MERCS QUEST!>But keep an eye out for a side chapter on Wednesday night!
>>24658462>Five days awaywhy OP why
>>24658462Fuck fuck fuck fuck. Really want those artillery batteries right now.Also. >Friday SO FAR AWAY!>side chapter on WednesdayI-I guess I can wait.
I can finally go to sleepIts a damnable shame I love this quest but you end at around 3 am EST and ive got classes too later today
>>24658479Sorry man, weekends are really the only days I have time to run a full length quest.
>>24658510Do we really have no support fire at all from the rear lines?
>>24658462>They got goddamn floating tanks and they're coming right for us!Oh fuck.If they have Donald Ducks, the Empire probably have the whole menagerie of Hobart's Funnies. I just hope they don't have any Crocodiles.
>>24658462>But keep an eye out for a side chapter on Wednesday night!Oh boy oh boy oh boy!Are we getting more of the glorious adventures of Erik Schnee, Professional Badass?
>>24658528Not really. Chalk it up to the higher ups never seriously considering a full scale invasion on Albion itself. It's a goddamn miracle you've got the defenses you currently have up in a couple of weeks.Plus most of the rear line assets available are concentrated around the harbor.
>>24658462What makes them float? Unless they have those canvas wall things the shermans did there is no way they are displacing enough water to stay up on their own.
>>24658562Considering this is like backwards D-Day, they probably work EXACTLY the same as a Donald Duck.
>>24658462>the commander has more tanks in his personal unit than we have troops under our command. No worries, we got this.
>>24658548Maybe, maybe not. Side chapters are usually going to focus on characters that don't get much spotlight, or to expand on your squad's backgrounds. (which you've actually unlocked some due to your convo choices).
>>24658559Oh god... my head hurts. Just... what the hell is Albion thinking.
>>24658594I was kinda hoping to hear about Jagers name spreading throughout the empire.
>>24658614>High command>ThinkingPick one and only one, choose wisely.
OP, roughly what was the kill ratio of this battle? And can we know how the fights went in the harbor, south beach, and at sea?
>>24658562>>24658592Amtracks, from what I recall, don't need skirts to float. So maybe the figured a way for tanks. Who the fuck knows.
>>24658630I choose Eisenhower.
>>24658658It goes something like this.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhEfXMBqMcQSkip to 9:20>>24658634Considering you've got a huge defensive advantage, it's pretty heavily lopsided in your favor. A single landing boat holds about 20-30 men. You do the math.Keep in mind you're not the only forces in this sector. You're getting supporting fire from your Albion allies as well. And IC, you don't know the state of the other battles going on.
Say, do any of our Albionese allies have any AT weapons on them?Because I do not want to face that horde alone with only Sam and Julia. Also, looks like the Vergeltung is going to have to take a run at that Swallow guy.
>>24659019We sank their battleship, now we sink their tank!
