>Since family is coming by, I might be either a little or a lot slower at posting today.

Your name is Heather Leery, and Lin Eito is most likely the most ravenous eater you've ever met. After finishing the ice cream and apparently determining it wasn't poisoned, he proceeded to eat whatever else he could find from the kitchen- sandwiches, noodles, and he even found one of Damien's stashes somehow. He was currently demolishing that as Robin sat back in her chair.
"So what's your deal?" She asked, finally.
"Hm?"
"Why are you all paranoid?"
"Well, let's see. I was doing my thing down on Earth, when those guys started chasing me." He said, and inhaled another sandwich. "So I did my trick to get away, but they chased me. So I used it a lot, then they were waiting on the other side of the wall for me. Tasered me, drugged me, put me in some kinda containment. Kept me drugged with food and drink for a few weeks, until I was able to stop eating long enough to trick me out of there and onto a shuttle. Ended up there, saw them taser you, and tried to stop it."
Then he devoured another sandwich.
"That's my deal."

<These tricks are similar to how you are a beacon that I can communicate with. Yes? Deduction. Intuition.> Serpensal said, still sitting on your head quietly.
>>
>>24664769
<Yes. We call it psionics, officially. Affecting the world with thoughts. It's appeared in all three UPA races and uplifts. Studying it is what this facility is for.>
>>
>>24664769
<Yup, we call them Psionics, I'd give you a more complicated explanation, but we don't really understand them fully ourselves yet.>
>>
>>24664769

we need to send Ellie a message that we're back on station, last she heard, we were under attack

also need to know how Omni and Anna are doing, i have a bad feeling about Anna linking up with Omni while he's acting like he is.
>>
>>24664769
<yes, my "trick" is to talk to machines; robin's trick is instant transfer between points; and his seems to be passing through solid matter>
>>
>>24664769
<That's right, Serpensal. They're called psionics. That's the main reason I can talk with you.>

"So, you can do telekinesis and phase shifting. Anything else?"
>>
>>24664769
<Yepperoonies!>
"So, question of the hour is how can we trust you. How can we trust, what you're saying."
>>
>>24664864
We should also probably send a message to the Nagala councillor about what happened. Since we kind of vanished on our trip to Earth as far as it knows.
>>
>>24664903

that too, good call.
>>
>>24664769
Would you mind if Jilly took a look in your head? Shes our resident telepath and she might be able to spot anything they might have done to you while in captivity
>>
<Yes. We call it psionics, officially. Affecting the world with thoughts. It's appeared in all three UPA races and uplifts. Studying it is what this facility is for. We don't fully understand them ourselves, yet.>
<I see. I do not know if there are any of the Valk that have the same.?

"So, you can do telekinesis and phase shifting. Anything else?"
"I can do a lot of things. I'm best at the... what did you call it? Phase shifting? Yeah, that's what I'm the best at. I can like, see things from far away and stuff that hasn't happened yet, and I somehow learn languages just by being around people, and sometimes I've read people's minds."

Max came into the cafeteria, and Lin jumped back when he saw him.
"Hello..?" Max asked experimentally.
"... Hello." Lin responded, tugging at his baggy shirt.
Max turned to you. "Where'd you get him? Is he a psion? He smells like one."
"Wait, you can smell that sort of thing?" Lin asked, and sniffed. "... You're right. You can. It's not really a smell, though. More like a feel."
Max was quiet for a moment.
"Hi, I'm Max! Welcome to the institute, I guess." Max said.

Quickly, you send a message to the nagala councilor and to Ellie about what happened, and Ellie sent one back, asking where you were on the station- she couldn't find her way around, and Robin wasn't near to guide her.
>>
>>24664885
>"So, question of the hour is how can we trust you. How can we trust, what you're saying."
This
>>
>>24664947
Send her a mental map.

>>24664940
Also repeating this.
>>
>>24664947
<in the kitchen with the new guys Ellie;>
>>
>>24664947
"Alright, sounds like you have telepathy and a bit of clairvoyance in that case."
>>
>>24664992
We also know he has telekinesis from holding an atmosphere in space.

Guy's got a bit of everything it looks like.

In b4 this is Omega.
>>
>>24664947

send a map to Ellie's personacom, mark our and her location on it.

>still have an uneasy feeling about Omni and Anna.
>>
You reach out to Ellie, through your drone and through her personacom, and then use telepathy to send her a mental map.
<Ooh, that helps!> She responded. <So cool~!>

"Would you mind if Jilly took a look in your head? She's our relevant telepath and she might be able to spot anything they might have done to you while in captivity."
"I don't remember them doing anything." He said. "But I don't mind. If you all can do that sort of stuff, any secrets I have won't be secret for long anyway."

"... So question of the hour is how we can trust you. How can we trust what you're saying?"
"Hey, you two are the ones that dragged me here." He responded. "That girl looking into my head should be enough proof. And you can trust me because they woulda' tasered you if it weren't for me pushing you out of the way."

You reach out to Anna and Omni, and they were in your workshop, connected to one another. You could feel the former shining like a beacon, the cable acting as a funnel for her mind. You couldn't tell if there was anything wrong, or out of the ordinary, since Anna's brain was so strange right now.
>>
>>24665007
He also blocked the taser with TK. And he apparently has Max's thing, whatever that's called.
>>
Well if he is Omega he'd have some of Alex in him... Theta can look for that.
>>
Well welcome to the Institute! If Max gives the OK he'll probably enroll you as a student. It's pretty nice. We get free food and paid ten thousand every week.
>>
>>24665048
Call Jilly over to do the mind-read.
Wait for Ellie to get here so we can show off Serpensal.
>>
>>24665048

keep a mental eye on Anna and Omni.

we can go check on them in person if we have no further questions.

should also introduce everyone to Serpenal, our new hair ornament.
>>
>>24665048
"That kind of thing could easily be staged."
>>
>>24665151
Let's save any suspicious comments for now and wait for Jilly to do her thing.
>>
Show him the article about the UPA psychics.
>>
"Well, welcome to the institute! If Max gives the Okay he'll probably enroll you as a student." You say. "It's pretty nice. We get free food and paid ten thousand every week."
"Ten thousand? Dollars?"
"Credits, technically, but since a UPA credit is based on earth money, yes." Max said.
"... Tax dollars at work! Good to know."

"Here's the big question." Robin said. "How could you kick me!"
"You appeared out of nowhere! I'm sorry, but I was a bit touchy at the time."
Robin glared. "But I appear faster than people can react." She said.
"Maybe I saw something subconsciously before it happened?" He asked, and shrugged.
Robin just glared. "I want to have Theta give you a look."

"... Alright?" He asked, confused, as Robin pamfed out.

"Aha! I found- ooh, new person!" Ellie said. "Hello! My name's Ellie. I'm just visiting this place."
"Lin. Lin Eito. I was teleported here for reasons I don't fully understand, and now I'm getting interrogated."
"Who's interrogating you?" Ellie asked.
"The mousey girl, and her." He said. "And now you, apparently."
Ellie giggled.
You reach out to Jilly, and ask her to come to the cafeteria when she can, and she responded that she needed a bit- she was discussing gender with Theta.
>>
>>24665208

no worries, that's an important discussion, tell her Robin is going to barge in 10 seconds ago.

>Still worried.
>>
>>24665208
<convenient, we need theta down here as well; no rush but we'd like to check the new guy...>

"to be fair, I'm doing my best to 'good-cop' you"
>>
>>24665208
<Okay, I don't think it's urgent. Watch out for Robin though.>
"Ellie, this is Serpensal. He's billions of years old and from another galaxy."
>>
"Ten thousand on top of free food, medical, and education plus you can request just about whatever you want within reason and have it shipped here. I've got a workshop for tinkering for example.
In exchange you wear a biosensor most of the time and schedule yourself for improving your powers through testing. The UPA takes all the data and tries to figure out how it works for the betterment of society.
It's the sweetest deal that ever was."
>>
"Ellie, this is Serpensal." You say, nudging the crystalline being on your head. "He's billions of years old and from another galaxy."
"Incorrect. Tens of thousands of years."
"He's so adorable! can I hug you, Serpy!?"
"Yes. Warm."
Ellie plucked him from your head and gave him a hug.

"To be fair, I'm doing my best to 'good-cop' you."
"Well, broadcasting that you don't trust me in your head isn't a good way to do that." He said. "Thanks and all about saving me from those guys, but you can't just pull me here and then start acting like I'm the bad guy," He said, mismatched eyes meeting yours. "Like I came here to invade or whatever. I'm trying damn hard not to get offended."
>>
>>24665315

"please accept my sincere apologize."
>>
>>24665315
"Sorry, but Armatek has been pulling all sorts of sneaky plots to get back at us for freeing their psions. I guess it's made me a little paranoid."

We should probably still try and lock our thoughts down so he can't go reading them without our permission though.
>>
>>24665315
"The jig is up, Omega."

Call him on it! See what he does!
>>
>>24665315
"well to be fair I called in my ohshit extraction expert; it's a knee-jerk thing. once we're sure you aren't a VQ spy or an Armatek spy or a reporter looking for a story we'll all open up and probably trust you..."
>>
>>24665315
"I'm sorry, I guess all the stuff with Armatek and the Void Queen has made me kind of paranoid."
>>
>>24665385
That would be rather silly.
>>
>>24665315
>"Incorrect. Tens of thousands of years."
How cute, he's lying about his age.

><For how long have you traveled?>
><Many thousands and thousands of billions of years. the Aether is eternal, and I await our destination. Hope.>
Even if you want to retcon that, the nearest galaxy is 2,500,000 light years away and they were travelling slower than light so that makes him at least millions of years old not tens of thousands.
>>
>>24665315
"I do apologize for that, but you can understand the paranoia right?"
>>
>>24665315
"Sorry, I've made more enemies in the last month than most people do in a lifetime."
"I'm paranoid."
>>
>>24665315
"They used a [Damien's sister's age] year old kid as a hostage. You understand why I am hesitant with my trust these days."

>Sorry for the delays!
"I do apologize for that, but you can understand the paranoia, right?"
"That's why I'm trying not to get offended." He said. "It's not working or the most part."
"Please accept my sincere apologies." You say. "But Armatek has been pulling all sorts of sneaky plots to get back at us for freeing their psions. I guess it's made me a little paranoid."
"Well, yeah, because the best way to get back at someone for stealing their shit is to give them more shit." He said sarcastically. "But when your friend comes by and looks at my memories, I hope that'll help."

"He's so adorable!" Ellie said, snuggling close to Serpensal.
Max was quiet, simply watching. It was as if he was smelling something strange, cautious- his ears were perked and his tail was wagging slightly.

In the workshop, Anna's mind pulsed slightly.
>>
>>24665709

go check it out, now.
>>
>>24665709
<Max? What's up?>
>>
>>24665709
<What's up, Max?>
I kind of want to go to the workshop but surprising them while they're linked might just make things worse.
>>
>>24665709
<Are you okay, Anna? I felt something weird.>
>>
>>24665709
<how are things Omni?>

"yup actually that sounds like it makes sense, although I'd have used the words "give them hell" but the analogy stands; and jilly and theta looking at you certainly will. till then the standard level of paranoia is just gonna have to be expected; and we've got weirder enemies than armatek"
>>
<Max? What's up?>
<He's not specialized. Untapped potential.> He said. <Strange.>

You reach out to the workshop, and try to tap into it with telepathy- but there was nothing. So you tap into it with technopathy... and you find something that feels... strangely like one of Summer's rifts. A portal to an alien world, where both Omnissiah and Anna were. You hear Anna giggling from inside.
>>
>>24665802
Go bravely forth into the unknown!
>>
>>24665802

s-she's giggling, that's good, right?

it's nothing malicious, right?

if there is a camera inside our workshop, now would be the time to have a look through it.
>>
>>24665802
<Lambda warned me about Omega, Max. This...could be an elaborate set-up.>
>>
>>24665802
<hey guys I back, picked up a new psion and Serpensal came along too. we are in the cafeteria, come join us."
>>
>>24665892
>>24665846
>>24665825
Now now, let the lovebirds be.
Speaking of, we should have the birds and bees talk with Omni.

>>24665853
Yeah, ditto
>>
<Lambda warned me about Omega, max. This... could be an elaborate set-up.>
<He doesn't smell like any of the armatek clones.> Max said. <He has more than one power.>

You reach out to the camera, and you can just see Anna sitting back, Renard on alert to warn her if he sees anyone entering, and Omnissiah was just as dormant, cables connecting the two.

Carefully, you go bravely forth into the technopathic rift.

The sensations of your body dulled, and eventually you couldn't hear anybody in the real world talk at all.

And then you were standing on... something, feeling your feet below you, and arms hanging from your shoulders- you were entirely nude, and the other side of the rift was chaotic tumbles of alien code, tendrils clinging to the walls and keeping the code away from the chamber where Anna and Omnissiah were.

>Field too long!
>>
>>24665983
Anna was wearing simple clothes, and had a chessboard in front of her. Omnissiah was... strange. Humanoid, and tall, with a torso of clicking gears, and his limbs wound with spun springs. He was faceless for the most part, but three long glowing horizontal lines, one above the other, served as his eyes. He moved another pawn, and Anna giggled evilly. "Gotcha!" She said, and knocked over a rook with one of her bishops.
"I'm exceedingly bad at this." Omnissiah's hollow voice said- and then you heard him chuckle. Then he turned to you. "Hello, Heather. I wasn't sure if you could enter this."

Anna gave you a look- and then looked away quickly.
"... I... didn't know you could dive in." She said, awkwardly. "Omni, compile some clothes for her?"
"Yes." He said, and clothes exactly like Anna's appeared on you, fitted fine.
>>
>>24665999
"I never knew you could do this, Omni."
>>
>>24665999
Thank you Omni!

This is pretty neat.
>>
>>24665999
"Sorry for dropping by, semi accident. Just wanted to say we picked up another Psionic. A phaser, seemingly on the run from ArmaTek. Apparently they tried to get to me after the First Contact Conference and he saved me. I've my doubts, considering they used a taser of all things."
>>
>>24665999
"What is *this*"
>>
>Mysterious heterochromatic psion with all the powers appears.

Cool DMPC, Exabyte.
>>
>>24666051
"And he can learn them fast, I think. Like, super fast. Max mentioned that he smelled like a psionic, then he noted that there is, in fact something - more of a feeling."
>>
>>24665999

"uh, hey there, wanted to let you guys know I'm back on the station, my planned tourist trip to earth got interrupted by an unknown psionic and a few taser darts. This is... pretty neat, who's winning?"

>I've turned in to a paranoid wreck...

>>24666067

he doesn't seem especially good with any of them though, he got really winded after going through the shuttle wall.
>>
>>24666067
You now realize Omega Project's goal was to create a Psion with access to all other powers.
And that our Technopathy Virus can do the same thing. You can even get Biopathy to give yourself heterochromia.
>>
"I never knew you could do this, Omni." You say. "What is this?"
"He can't." Anna said. "This is mine. Me. Really. Kind of. It's weird." She said."Me and dad did this sort of thing years and years ago. It's kind of what my whole spine was designed for. It's a... mind to AI interface."

"Sorry for dropping by. It was a semi-accident. I just wanted to say that we picked up another Psion. A phaser, seemingly on the run from ArmaTek." you say. "Apparently they tried to get me after the First Contact Conference, and he saved me. I've my doubts, considering they used a taser of all things."
"We could use Theta, Jilly, and your technopathy to find out if he was tinkered with." Anna said. "Shouldn't be hard."
>>
>>24666128
"That was the plan, we're waiting for Jilly and Theta to stop discussing gender."
>>
>>24666128
Oh if this is you Anna it'd explain why it feels like one of Summer's rifts. You might be aiding this with psionics!
>>
>>24666128
"Technopathy didn't ping anything, at least not the first time."
>>
>>24666128
"Yeah, that was the plan. I also brought my extra-galactic friend back. His whole body is a crystalline optical computer, it's really cool."
>>
>>24666160
Obviously Summer's pocket dimension is her mindscape. It explains everything.
>>
>>24666128

"I've also been tasked with becoming friends with an alien AI!"

"we're in the cafeteria right now, might be best if i return, i kind of left my senses when i dove in here... actually, i might be in the med bay by now..."
>>
>>24666128
"Technopathy didn't pick up anything, I doubt Theta will either, but it seems like he can do everything. Which is what makes me think that it might be Omega, the one Lambda warned me about."
>>
"Technopathy didn't ping anything, at least not the first time." You say. "And that was the plan. We're waiting for Jilly and Theta to stop discussing gender."
"Ah." She said. "So how was first contact? Was it fun, or strange, or...?"
"I believe one of the aliens grabbed her chest." Omnissiah said. "And there's a conspiracy theory that she was there specifically as a psychic translator, there because you first found the aliens within the depths of space."
Anna started to giggle again.
>>
>>24666226
"What sort of crazy ideas will the extranet come up with next."
>>
>>24666226
"Everyone knows that the conspiracy theorists are just a bunch of paranoid people. And paranoids just have all the facts."
>>
>>24666226
"Well, they're not wrong. Anyway, I brought Serpensal back with me."
>>
>>24666226

"i brought the Serpenal, the alien construct i made contact with, here when Robin got us. Thought you guys would like to meet him."
>>
>>24666226
"Yeah, I got groped by an alien during first contact on a galactic broadcast... I'm probably the only person who's ever lived who can say that."
>>
>>24666226
"it was a poke not a grab, and I brought their semi-natural AI creature with me...they sort of gave him to me because we were getting along so well."
>>
"Hilariously enough, that's spot on. It just turns out that they didn't need me much, the aliens already have superior translation software."
>>
>>24666311
its not an AI, its a uplift. Big difference.
>>
>>24666226
Let's get Ellie to try punching that guy in the face.
>>
>>24666332
Let's not, there is always the possibility that he really is what he says he is, and we don't want to alienate him with nonsensical beatings.
>>
"Yeah, I got groped by an alien during first contact on a galactic broadcast." You say. "I'm probably the only person who's ever lived who can say that."
"Actually, the same thing happened during first contact with the nagala." Anna said. "Doc told me. They cut it out of the records, but it was on the live broadcast."

"Anyway, I brought Serpensal, the alien construct I made contact with, here when Robin got us. Thought you guys would like to meet him."
"Right, right." Anna said. "Should I pull out?"
"Probably best, yes." Omnissiah said.
"Just play your turn first." Anna said, and he moved a piece. Anna checkmated him quickly, and gave him a grin.
"Well, see you." Anna said, and faded from view.
Omnissiah met your eyes, his glowing three lines staring at you, for a long moment.
"... Heather, I-"
And then Anna pulled the plug, and the world around you faded from view.
You hadn't even been out for more than half a minute, based on the time. Lin and Ellie were talking, and Max was still silent.
>>
The biggest hint about this guy? He hasn't bled from the nose yet. Instead he got tired.
>>
>>24666429
"Sorry about that, I got distracted, ehm, what did I miss?"

>>
>>24666429
<Omni? What was that last bit?>
>>
>>24666429
"What was that Omni?"
>>
>>24666435
Ever think that he escaped like Epsilon but doesn't have much memory pre-breakout? That's a possibility. We need Jilly to find out though.
>>
>>24666435

>>
>>24666464

>>
>>24666429
<What are you thinking, Max?>
>>
You open your eyes and listen in.
"And then she was all 'oh no, Steiny!' and jumped into the pool after him." Ellie was giggling- You remember the time- you'd dropped Einstein into the water after he ran out of ion gas and then you went to grab him. After having to pull him entirely apart and replace the waterlogged components, you swore to make everything else perfectly waterproof for the rest of your life.

<What was that, Omni?> You asked.

<... I wanted to thank you.> He said. <For saving me, back when I was within the ship that attacked you on the Ishelda.>
>>
>>24666556
<If anything, I should be thanking you. You've saved me numerous times, and all of us when you plugged into Elysium. I'm glad I saved you.>
>>
>>24666556
"Hey, that's not funny, that was a traumatic experience!"

<No need to thank me, Omni, I'm glad I did.>
>>
>>24666556
you've saved me more than enough times, you've been my friend, and you help my friends. you don't need to thank me.

>>
>>24666556
"That was a traumatic event, Ellie! and the main reason to stuff in those extra-big fuel tanks."
>>
>>24666556
<Any ideas what we can use that new crystal in, by the way?>
>>
>>24666556

<you have my love of technology and machines to thank but... I'm glad we took that ship with us, really, really glad.>

<how are you feeling?>
>>
<If anything, I should be thanking you. You've saved me numerous times, and all of us when you plugged into Elysium.>
<You're welcome to ask anything you need of me.> Omnissiah said.

"Hey, that's not funny, Ellie! That was a traumatic event!"
Ellie giggled. "Yeah, one of your toys broke. Real traumatic."
Lin just shrugged.
"Can't say I know how that feels." Lin said. "Gadgets are just gadgets."

"Since she was like six." Ellie said. "She lugged that thing around all the time like a teddie bear."
Lin chuckled at the mental image. "Okay, that's pretty funny." He said.
"So, do you wish to enter the institute?" Max asked, finally.
"Still not sure. You're interesting for sure, but I can't be sure Armatek will find you guys. And if you guys are going to treat me like I'm an enemy, I'm especially not going to join in your club."

"We're not treating you like an enemy, but you didn't trust us either until you looked at my past. You can't really blame us for wanting to take the same precautions, can you?"

"Armatek has their sights set on us, we have a whole lot of orbital weapons floating around and some of my friends stole some very secret data from them. the UPA is working on bringing them down, they're committing so many acts against humanity, it's not even remotely funny."

hug Einstein a bit more and after that Serpensal.
>>
>>24667027
"Alright, I'm sorry, jeez..."
>>
"Alright, I'm sorry, Jeez." You say, and pull Einstein into a proper hug- and then did the same with Serpensal. "We're not treating you like an enemy, but you didn't trust us until you looked at my past. You can't really blame us for wanting to take the same precautions, can you?"
"Yeah, yeah." He said. "Good point. What are we waiting on?"
"We're just waiting for Jilly and Theta then we can verify your story, that's all." You say.
"Right, okay." He said, and closed his eyes, crossing his arms. "Double standards and all that..."

Robin, Theta, and Jilly came into the room, and Lin just slightly raised an eyebrow at Jilly.
"Alright, here he is. Check his nervous system." Robin said. "I have superhuman reflexes. No way he does too."
Theta closed his eyes. "Nope. Nothing out of the ordinary. Not that I can tell. No transgenetics, no implants or internal scars... Looks like someone did a biopsy on you, though."
"Great. Just great." Lin said.
"A bit of drugs still in your body- looks like hallucinogens and sedatives, and a very, very slight amount of nutrient paste. That's all I can tell." Theta said. "Happy, Robin?"
"Yes." She said, though from her expression, she wasn't.
>>
>>24667275
>"Sorry about the double standards and all that..."
>>
>>24667275
"Is Jilly coming along as well?"
>>
>>24667275

oh dear... they have his DNA... fan fuckin' tastic!

"Jilly here is our telepathy specialist, she's done it before so just relax!"
>>
>>24667275
<What does that actually mean, Theta? What could they have done?>
>>
"Jilly here is our telepathy specialist." You say. "She's done it before, so just relax!"
"Alright." He said, and leaned back in his chair.

<What does that actually mean, Theta? What could they have done?>
<It looked like they were prepping him for something.> Theta said. <Getting some data, stuff like that. The nutrient paste is the weird bit, since Robin said that the drugs had come from the guy's food.>

"Okay, I'll take a look." Jilly said, and slithered closer. She closed her eyes, and her skin flushed grey as she touched his head.

And then her skin started to flush different colors- red, to brown, to green, and all the way to yellow again. For a cold, cold moment, she went the deepest, darkest black.
"... You don't know your parents?"
"Born on the street, as far as I know." Lin said.
"And the first time you used a trick was... a few years ago?"
"That's the first time I remember it. Made some string out of nothing to tie that tarp."
"Huh." She said, and flashed green. "Oh dear."
"That's when, um, I was running from them. Here's me sliding through the wall... and then bang."
Jilly went pure black for a moment, before going back pale. "Then the rest of this is all blurs." She said. "I can't... see anything from here."
"I don't remember anything from those weeks. Or week. No clue how long it was." Lin said.
>>
>>24667445
<You think he could be cloned?>
>>
>>24667445

"J-Jilly? you took on some very unnerving colors just now. Are you alright?"

Theta: <you think he could cloned, like you guys?>
>>
>>24667445
"Alright, cool. Anything else we need to check?"
>>
>>24667445
Didn't Jilly say Nagala only went black when they died?

"Alright, I'll show you and Serpensal around if you want."
>>
>>24667445
Give Jilly a hug.
>>
>biopsy is when they take bits of tissue from a patient for DNA or microscopic research (among other things).

likely they took a few bits of skin and were planning to really cut in to him when they got him somewhere secure.
>>
>>24667621
They took bits of skin so they could clone him.
>>
<You think he could be cloned?> You ask Theta.
<Don't know. He hasn't had any transgenetic treatments like us, and he doesn't have any relation to us or Alex, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have been modified before he was decanted.>

"J-jilly, you took on some very unnerving colors just now." you say, and pull her into a tight hug. Jilly hissed, and went slightly pink. "Are you alright?"
"E-Everything's fine." Jilly said. "Just... his memories are very vivid. His emotions."

She took her hand off of his head. "Sorry about that. I won't talk about-"
"It's fine." He said, and shrugged. "Tell them if you want."
Jilly didn't say anything, just nodded.
"Alright, I'll show you and Serpensal around if you want." You say.
"Alright." He said, and stepped to his feet. Ellie pouted.
"What, you won't show me around?" She pouted, hugging Einstein.

<Curiosity. Strangeness. Dark, Dim, purposed, instead of Artful, colorful, crystal. No Light Lives Here.> Serpensal said.
>>
>>24667697
"Sorry about that Ellie, of course you can come too."
>>
>>24667697

"I'm a horrible friend..." "would you like the tour as well?" a little bit awkward

"Hey Jilly, Can you telepath with Serpensal?"

If she's not interested in him, stuff him down our cleavage.

"I will show you all around! First, my workshop! Then hydroponics!"

<Hey. Hey Ellie. Don'tcha think Lin's pretty cute? And he's a guy.>
>>
>>24667770

or, you know, wear him as a hat again, I quite like the little guy.

I hope he and Omni can get along.
>>
>>24667792
He likes being warm, is all.
>>
>>24667792
Let's ask him

<Head or chest, Serpensal?>
>>
>>24667803
inb4 he's a butts guy.
>>
>>24667803
>The aliens had mouths on their chests
>Serpensal thinks we're trying to eat him
>>
>>24667792
Maybe Serpy can help Omni deal with the potential SAN loss from being in faster machinery considering the Valk have crystal computers and all.
>>
>>24667828
Put psuedopod in butt.
>>
>>24667833
But the fast computers were the cause of the SAN loss, no? Maybe a different architecture would help though.
>>
>>24667831
He didn't seem to mind last time...
>ohgod
>>
>>24667833

hmm, he was slow and then the Vark/Valk (which is it? previous threads say Vark) made him in to a very fast computer.

might actually work.
>>
>>24667849
That's what I mean. I think that since they have faster and more advanced computing that they may have found a way around the issue since it would be much more prevalent if they have any AI at all.
>>
>>24667944
the issue isn't the speed of the computer its a limit on how smart an AI or a person can be. Omni can surpass that limit many-fold.
>>
>>24667975
No... The issue is that when omni gets super smart, he also gets super crazy.
>>
<What do you mean, Serpensal?>
<I mean that this place is cold and dark. Fluorescent lighting, unnaturally shaped and unearthly worked metal. Cold and dark.... But it carries inside of it the raw power and ingenuity, creativity, and raw inner fire of the total knowledge of an entire race, focused in one direction.> It said. You felt his mind stuttering and shifting, working too quickly for language to appropriately translate. He simple pulsed, quietly. <It is cold and emotionless, but nothing is a vacuum. Not even the infinite depths themselves.>

You pause a moment, trying to puzzle out what he was trying to say, then just shake your head.
<Do you want to sit on my head or in my chest, Serpensal?>
<... Head. Not warm, but good vision.> It said.

"Sorry about that, Ellie." You say, and set Serpensal on your head. "Of course you can come too."
"Alright!" She said.

Lin got to his feet.
<Hey. Hey Ellie.> You ask her, as you walk them through the halls. <Don'tcha think Lin's pretty cute? And he's a guy.>
<He is! B-but how do I ask him out? He doesn't seem normal at all. I doubt I could just go 'hey, you're cute, let's go out'> She said, in her normal booming mental voice.
Lin's cheeks went very slightly pink, but he didn't say anything. You caught a snippet of his thoughts, as the three of you walked.
<-o I just say 'yeah sure' here or->

@ellie, but extra 'loud' so lin can hear it to...
<ellie, he's a psychic too, I just tricked you into it for you, congrats>

Lets not say exactly that.
>>
>>24668067

The image of Heather walking into her workshop, filled with amazing inventions, and going straight to a detailed description of her decabulator pile is hilarious.

"What, that, oh yeah, that's my custom-build exosuit with a prototype refractor shield built in. But enough about that, this here is a four inch decabulator... and this is a two inch one... and this one here, three inches. You have to special order those."

<Yes, that's exactly what you should say!>
He paused a moment.
"Yeah, sure." Lin said. "Glad you think I'm cute."

Ellie stared at him-
And then glared at you.
"You told him!" She said.
"I-I picked it up, sorry. I normally do now or then." He said. "Just little snippets."
"You're psychic too?!"
"Y-yeah, I guess?!" He asked.
The two of them looked away at precisely the same moment, and walked in silence.

"This is my workshop!" You say. "It's full of awesome things!"
You grab a decabulator, a half-finished personacom, and spare omnitool parts. "Like this, or this, or this! And check out this pile of decabulators! Do you have decabulators, Serpensal?"
<... No, we do not.> He said, and looked down at the pile. Light danced along his crystals, flashing wildly and sparking with light. <Inspiration, passion, and forging flame. It lies here, within you and part of you. That is why we can communicate. I understand now, how psionic powers function. They are when one breathes that flame into their natural abilities.>

>>
>>24668184
<is that so? I wonder how you'll react to Summer's pocket universe...> (give no further detail but a feeling of smug knowledge...)

"...and that concludes the workshop, now onward to the training and testing rooms which aren't as interesting as my GLORIOUS WORKSHOP"
>>
>>24668184
Where's our Exosuit at? We should put it back in its bay in the workshop.
>>
>>24668184
You don't have decabulators? Pure madness! How do you do SCIENCE!!?
>>
>>24668184

<that's quite a way to describe it, wanna meet a friend of mine? he's an artificial intelligence.>

if at all possible, keep from getting to far in to tech talk and keep showing them around.

i hope Lin doesn't turn out to be a bad guy.
>>
>>24668184
"Onwards to the testing rooms, where there are sadly not as many decabulators."
>>
<You're talking gibberish.>
<Yes and no.> It said. <What I am saying would make sense to an Enlightened or a Flash. They speak those words to one another. That is why they're called the mad ones.>
<Philosophy isn't one of my strong points, but I think I get it.> You say.
"And that concludes the workshop!" You say, spreading your arms as the maintenance drones circle you. "Now onward to the training and testing rooms, which aren't as interesting as my glorious workshop!"
"Alright."

<Kisss, kisssss.> You tell Ellie and Lin, walking, while the two very sternly avoided looking at one another. You finally stop when Ellie produces her bat from nowhere- if you knew her, she'd actually start attacking you. Lin just kept his hands in his pockets, head low.

<You don't have decabulators? Pure madness! How do you do science?!>
<With experimentation and intuition.> Serpensal said. <The Enlightened know their job and do it well.>

Time passed as you walked into the technopathy room, where Serpensal was mildly insulting by calling the supercomputer not very 'super', and where Lin and Ellie were just as awkward as before.

Then Summer walked in.
"Tiger!" Lin called, and stepped into the supercomputer itself, sliding in.

Summer blinked, and rubbed at her eyes.

<... A tamed one.> Serpensal said. <Another. Here. Now? Outer form intact, but inner one...>
"Morningg~" She said.
"It's not even dinner yet." Ellie said, trying not to giggle at Lin's wavering form hiding in the supercomputer.
>>
>>24668392
<They're called Uplifts in the UPA. It's where animals are raised to human level of intelligence through gene therapy and the like."
>>
>>24668392
<We call them uplifts.>
"Hi Summer! Summer is another student here."
>>
>>24668392
<She's an uplift. Super fluffy!>

"Hey Summer, check out this awesome robot scorpion from another galaxy!"
>>
>>24668392
"Morning Summer, let me introduce you to Lin, the guy hiding inside the supercomputer, and Serpensal, he's kind of an uplift like you. Lin, Serpensal, this is Summer, the galaxy's best roommate."
>>
>>24668392
"hi Summer, Lin get out of Elysium and meet my roomate; it's not like she's gonna bite your head off or anything."

(spoken AND thought)
<"serpenal, this is summer, my friend she's an uplift, it's a common practice in the UPA. she can also produce matter from nothing at a low energy cost.">

and scratch the fuzzy head...
>>
>>24668392

"Hey Summer, we have some more visitors!" "This is my roommate Summer, she's an uplifted tiger. Lin, you can come out now."

we should probably stop being mean to Ellie and Lin

i really don't want Ellie to apply that bat to our face.
>>
>>24668392
<Yes, she's different from you and Max. She was born with a human mind.>

"Don't panic, she's an uplift. Summer, this is Lin. Lin, Summer."
>>
>>24668392
@summer: <<I'm trying to set Lin and Ellie up, you should help.>>
>>
>>24668392
<Tamed one? The computer or the tiger?>
>>
Summer was never wild, so she couldn't be tamed. Max was, though. But you didn't seem to notice him.
>>
"Morning, Summer. Let me introduce you to Lin, the guy hiding inside the supercomputer, and Serpensal. he's kind of an uplift like you." You say.

"Uh... hi." Summer said, and Lin stuck his head out of the computer, before climbing out.
<Yes, she's different from you and Max. She was born with a human mind.>
<So she was born tame, instead of made so.> He said. <Wait, Max was a tamed one as well?>
<You didn't seem to notice him.>
<He is not as large.> Serpensal said, as if that explained everything.

"Hi." He said. "Sorry I kind of panicked. Not every day you see a tiger walk into the room."
"Yes it is." Summer said. She giggled. "I have a mirror in my room! I literally see one every single day!"
Lin chuckled.
"Nice to meet you, Summer."
"You too!"

<I'm trying to set Lin and Ellie up, you should help.> You tell Summer.
Then, very suddenly, Ellie shot a glare at you.
"Stop that!" She said.
>>
>>24668531
Wait, did Ellie just pick up on our thoughts when we weren't directing them at her?

"I didn't say anything."

>>
>>24668531
"Are you sure you don't have telepathy, Ellie? You pick up an awful lot, and you can get out of our TK easily."
>>
>>24668549

>>
>>24668531
"Ah, you're right, I should stop meddling, sorry for my rudeness."

"I didn't say anything?" You say.
"You were looking right at her!" She said. "And I know what you were saying! I know you, Heather. You're predictable as hell."
"Stop what? I was telling Serpensal about her, he's never met an early uplift before. Just Max and he's a late."
<Would I be considered a late uplift?> Serpensal asked.
"... Yeah, yeah, I totally believe you." Ellie said, and rolled her eyes.
"And where does that bat keep coming from?!"
"I stashed it in the vent." Ellie said. "In case I needed to use it in a hurry."
>>
>>24668734
<I think you would. Do you still have any instincts from before you were uplifted?>
>>
>>24668734

<Technically, Serpensal, yes, because you were a regular ol' everyday star creature before you were given human-level intelligence. Max was a regular everyday wolf until he was given intelligence, while Summer was transgened to be born with it. Then again, I have no clue how genetic uplifting compares to what the Vrak did for you.>
>>
>>24668734
<Simply because you started life differently, and then you were given intelligence. Summer was transgened whilst being cloned.>
>>
>>24668734
Pout at her.
"But how am I meant to have fun teasing people if you won't let me?"
"Everyone else on the station is taken or uninterested."

"You would be a late uplift, Serpensal. Did you die when you crash landed?"
>>
>>24668734
<I think so yes, despite the diffirent processes involved; that means that by the laws you have the same rights as any other person like me or summer or max or omni>
>>
>>24668734
Can anyone else hear Serpensal, or should we be relaying messages?

<I can hook you up to Einstein so you have a speaker...>
>>
>>24668734
<Yep! Early uplifts go through the process so early that they have no memories of living any differently. Max still remembers his life as a Wolf before he was uplifted."

>>24668734
"Which vent? We've passed more than a dozen!"

<When I and the Enlightened were shown images of earth creatures, I was attracted to something called an octopus.> Serpensal said. <Warm, wriggling, firm. Yes. Yes I do. Instincts and thoughts. Moving without thinking. Memories of when I was slow and dumb. My pod still lives out there, I know, and I miss them, despite their stupidity.>

"But how am I meant to have fun teasing people if you won't let me?" You asked. "Everyone else on the station is taken or uninterested."
"Uninterested? Psh. Well, Ellie, if you're interested in me..." Summer said seductively, and wiggled her tail.
"... I um. Sorry, but.."

<Max has the instincts and memories of the time before as well.> You say. <Summer doesn't, because she has never lived as an animal.>
<I understand.> He said.
<Octopuses, hey? I'll download you that cephalopod week special they aired a few months back later.>
<Please do not. There is no reason for that.> He said.

You, Summer, Ellie, and Serpensal continued on to the manifestation room, and Summer showed off a knight-summoning trick, and then you moved on to hydroponics.

"I think this is my favorite room on the station." Lin said, walking into it. "Nice and open... And look at that sun. Blue."
<Beautiful.> Serpensal said.
Ellie just frowned at the dented doors, where Devourer had smashed his way in last time. she gripped her bat more tightly.

"Oh come on, Ellie, He's... trying to right his wrongs. I hope he'll be okay."
"I don't." She said, and sat back in the plants.
"Who?"
"... The Devourer." Summer said. "I'll explain it."

You closed your eyes, and reached out...
And your name is the Devourer. Strapped within powerful cables, you struggle against it. You try to warp away- but a powerful nuclear blast slammed into you, forcing you to regrow before you could regain your breath. The creatures- Noilaz, you've learned they're called- stared at you, many eyes with only one mind.
You struggled more.

You've Lost, something says. You are Powerful, but not Very. You will be Useful.

You will give me Immortality, that voice said, and a tall, powerful Noilaz appeared, four sythes from her arms, the powerful, lionesque lower torso with hooked, powerful claws.
You raised your will to teleport again- and then telepathic power slammed into your mind, making it harder for you to think. And again, and again. Your cohesion was slipping-

Wait, that voice said. What... Is that Tendril?

And then the voice looked directly at Heather, intimately connected to you.

We should probably go tell Omni his plan to destroy the planet was babby-tier.

We have the materials to easily induce a supernova within a star. All we need to do is hyper-charge our second heat crystal (I mean lots, like a shit ton of energy) then get Rho or Sarvesh to teleport it into the core of a star. The added energy from the crystal causes a runaway reaction thanks to the carbon-carbon fusion that can now take place.

>>

>>
You take a deep breath...

And then you feel Heather give you something.
Give you some of her power.

And you slam back your foe with telekinetic power, and, with lent focus, create a powerful sphere of power-
And then the other creatures stand up to their full height, and tear the sphere to shreds.
You snap both cables, and teleport away.

Once again free, in space, floating.
You were... tired. Repeated regeneration, constant... power... running out...

Thank you, you told Heather. Thank you for helping me.
And then you were asleep.

Your name is Heather, and you've just saved the Devourer from inadvertently giving the Void Queen his immortality. He's currently sleeping in orbit of some planet somewhere, exhausted.
You open your eyes, and find Lin sitting in the grass next to Ellie. Summer was asleep, and Serpensal was absentmindedly dunking his head into the hydroponics water supply.
"Then... well, I wasn't happy about it." Lin said, his voice grave. "But it was him or me. So I... I... tricked my hand into his chest. And then..."
"Oh god." Ellie said, hugging her legs.
"I still have nightmares." He said.

Yeah, at this point I am of the opinion that allowing the VQ to exist is more a crime than vaporising the planet and destroying the Noilaz. They would probably rather die than exist under her complete control, anyway.

<How's the nutrients, Serpensal?>
<Healthy. Tastes good.> Serpensal said. You pick him up, and take him over to summer. You sit down next to her, and start to pet her. Curiously, Serpensal nuzzled close.

<Warm.> He said. You lay back on the grass, and close your eyes. You come to some time later with Summer atop you, squishing Serpensal between the two of you. Lin and Ellie were still talking. Lin was half asleep, and ellie was giggling out some story about her shuttle training.
"Oop!" She suddenly said. "It's almost dinner time! Whoops! Let's wake up the others."
"Oh! Right, okay." He said.
"But first..." She leaned close in preparation for a kiss... and shot him a grin. "Nah, nevermind."
"Tease!" He responded, and she cackled evilly.
Then the two of them started shaking Summer, waking the three of you up proper.
"I have found a new favorite location." Serpensal said.
>>
>>24670026

"Summer is the most comfy of us all!" You say, and Summer shook herself awake again. She looked... really tired, now that you looked at her more closely. It seemed to you like she'd been doing nothing but sleeping lately, and she never looked quite well rested.

Serpensal hopped onto your head, and clung on, as the rest of you made your way out of hydroponics and toward the cafeteria.
"Glad to see the two of you getting along."
"Well, Lin's all badass. Stealing food, lying about his age so he can get jobs, putting stashes of water tablet thingies all over..." Ellie said. "He's like an urban survivor!"
"Ellie's kind of cute." Lin said, teasingly.
"Hey, only kind of?!" She asked. "And what about all the other awesome things I've done! I can get out of TK grips, and freerun, and I'm like an awesome shuttle pilot and everything!"
"Not to mention humble." He said.
"Hey!" She responded, and prodded him in the gut with her bat. "I will ram this up your ass!"
"Is that a proposition?" He asked, and Ellie started stammering over her words. "Anyways, I'm starving."

"Kinky." You say. "Make sure to put a video up on the extranet."
"Of course." Lin said. "You always need more pegging up there, anyway."
Ellie was spluttering now, and stuffed the bat into a vent, glaring at the two of you.
After a bit of thought, you grab Serpensal from your head, and stuff him down into your chest.
<Warm.> He said, and the group made their way closer to the cafeteria.
<Are you okay, Summer?> You ask. <You've been tired a lot. Have you been running a universe?>
<Practice. Constant practice.> She said. <I can timeshift them now, make time go faster or slower, but I haven't tested it with actual people. Need Damien for it.>

"I was gonna ask, Ellie. how long do you plan on staying? I'm not trying to get rid of you, I just want to know."
"Well, the longer I stick around here, the less homework I have to do." She said. "I guess I should get back before morning, though."

That would be against the point. If there were instructions on how to make it, one would be able to extrapolate them to understand it, and if anybody is able to understand it, then the VQ can use them and understand it herself.

It's supposed to be literally incomprehensible. Unknowable. Unreplicatable.

Omni 13k probably wouldn't be stupid enough to leave anything regarding the creation process.

<Time manipulation?!? That's awesome!>
<I want to test it out, because then I can speed things up and sleep in it, then come out after I wake up and like no time would pass.> Summer said. <But it's dangerous.>
As you walk, you see Kailynn walk by. "Oh, Summer! I was looking for you. You haven't been coming by the manifestation chamber recently."
"I've been practicing on my own." Summer said.
"Well... It would really help if you gave us some more data..." She said.
"After Dinner, I can show you a few things." She said.

You turn to Ellie. "Stay as long as you want." You say. "You can sleep over in my room! And you haven't even tested my exosuit yet!"
"You have an exosuit?" Lin asked, and the group entered the cafeteria. Standing in the corner was your exosuit, dumped there by Robin after she went back to grab it and Einstein. "... Oh. I'd guess that's it."

And then Sarvesh and Damien both waved you over. "Come on, let's eat." Sarvesh said. "I made some more food!"

I'm pretty sure Heather is omnisexual as in attracted to everything. Well she isn't attracted to everything and everyone, but she doesn't consider things like race, gender, species, how xeno it is, whether it's an AI or not, to be important in her process for finding someone attractive. She won't find every sentient being attractive, but she picks and chooses from a broad range.
