>Since my nephew loves to hang out with me, I might be either a little or a lot slower at posting today.

The year is 2573, and you're sitting in a cafeteria full of people with the powers to read minds and move objects, cyborgs, artificial intelligences, and aliens. You've been here for almost a month, now, and you're still sometimes amazed at how strange things had gotten. Lin and Ellie were quite obviously flirting, while Serpensal sat on your head, crystalline body clinging there. Sarvesh, the large crabtaur he was, was cooking in the kitchen, a chef's hat on his carapace dome of a head, teleporting food to people.
Anna and Omnissiah came in, still talking, and Anna gave you a small smile and a wave- as she'd done every time she passed you for the past several days. Robin sat next to Isaac, talking animatedly, and Damien was trying to ignore Sigma's flirtations. Theta and Jilly were talking to one another, the latter blushing, and they both shooed Alex away when he came to sit down.

Summer was quietly eating, her manifestation sitting on her back with a book, reading aloud. You saw small wisps and shapes appear, as well as sparse glowing cracks on the floor around her. She looked... tired, still, but determined, very determined.
>>
>>24683835
"What's on the menu today, Sarvesh?"
>>
>>24683835
<What are you doing, Summer? There's all those shapes phasing around you again.>
>>
>>24683835

need to introduce Lin and Serpensal to the rest but i can't think of a way to do it without making one of the two sound less important.

Summer is really driven but she'll likely collapse if she keeps at it at this rate.

"What's on the menu today, Sarvesh?" You ask.
"Hamburgers! I haven't had any since I got the new tongue Theta gave me, so I want to see how they taste." He said. "What do you want on your buns?"
You tell him, and he got to work.

<What are you doing, Summer? There's all those shapes phasing around you again.>
<I'm seeing how much I can bring in at once.> She responded. <I'm seeing if I can... change... things.>
Her head wavered slightly, and a small droplet of something fell from her tigernose. She sniffed, and the cracks and shapes vanished.
<Nope.> She said, after a moment. <That wasn't good.>
>>
>>24683909
>small droplet of something red

Send a message to the Nagala Councilor, informing her that we retreated from the Station due to a seeming kidnapping attempt by ArmaTek, and due to Serpensal being awesome and with us, he's currently with us at the station.
<You're doing my job, silly. No droopling your brains from your nose.>
>>
>>24683909
<Slow down! Don't hurt yourself!>
>>
>>24683909

TK her a napkin.

<you're leaking, time for a break.>
>>
>>24683909
<... Is that brain leak I see? Maybe you should rest, Summer. Want me to walk you to Kaitlyn (that's her name right?)>
>>
>>24683909
<Hey, Anna. Where can I get a chain fed grenade launcher and ammo? I need more than just a laser on my exosuit.>

Also, I figure we should beef up the thrusters we've got on it, not so that it can fly, but just enough that it can perform long jumps or strides when on open ground.
>>
>>24683909
Sit down by Summer and put her head in our lap for scritches.

<You're officially, under my authority of being your friend, banned from working any harder today. You're going to eat some food, relax, and stop overworking yourself.

Do not argue, I will pout at you until you comply.>
>>
>>24683924
>You already did.

<Slow down! Don't hurt yourself!> You call.
<I won't, I know what I'm doing.> Summer said.
<Maybe you should rest, Summer. Want me to walk you to Kailynn?>
<No, I'm just going to get some sleep after dinner.> She said.

You sit down next to her, and start scritching her head- but she just ate, mostly ignoring you, and her tail started wagging.
"I'm pretty close, you know." She said.
"You're officially, under my authority of being your friend, banned from working any harder today. You're going to eat some food, relax, and stop overworking yourself."
"Only if you come watch movies with me." She responded.
With a blue flash, two hamburgers appeared, and you bit into one.
<Anna, where can I get a chainfed grenade launcher and ammo? I need more than just a laser on my exosuit.>
<... I'm not sure I like the idea of giving you my weapon contacts.> Anna responded.

"What movies do you wanna watch, Summer? Maybe we could watch another really old one again."

<It's not like I'm going to empty their stocks.>
Bleed out <Yet.>
>>
>>24684016
"Sooo, what were you trying to 'change'?"
>>
>>24684016

<I wouldn't trust myself with them either... I'll just have to make my own then!>
<The guy flirting with Ellie is Lin, he saved me from getting a face full of tazer dart. He's psionic and on the run from Armatek.>
<and the very latest in alien headwear i'm currently wearing is Serpensal, uplifted alien super circuit.>
>>
>>24684016
<Well, if you'd rather see what I can come up with on my own...>
>>
<It's not like I'm going to empty their stocks.> You say. <Yet.>
<That's not what I'm worried about.> She said. <It's just that buying guns is kind of... I don't know how to explain it. They're still weapons made for killing people, and that doesn't seem like... you.>

"Sooo, what were you trying to change?"
"The speed of light." Summer said. "Just a little bit. I can do it in my own dimension fine, it's just that I can't change that sort of thing in reality."
"What movies do you wanna watch, Summer? Maybe we could watch another really old one again."
"You like the old ones?" She asked, and you nodded.
"How about Lord of the Rings?" She asked. "That one's good. It's like six movies, and I've only ever seen the first one. It was remade in trid by an AI, I think, so we can watch a remastered version."

<You have a good point. I just, want to do everything i can to keep the people i care about safe.>
>>
<You have a good point. I just... I want to know I've done all I can to keep my friends safe.>
There was a pause.
<... I'll get you the launcher and the ammo.> Anna said, quietly. <I don't have one, but I can get it to you and teach you how to use it. I don't want you to get put into that kinda world, though.>

"Six? Great! that's the whole night set up then!" You say.
"Yes! Though I feel like I'm going to fall asleep instantly." Summer said. "Hey, tomorrow, I could try to teach you manifestation! All I've seen you do is a few wavery illusion thingies."
>>
>>24684294
"Yeah! I have some stuff I want to try with TK as well. I'm gonna try using TK to make sounds by vibrating the air, and then try using it to turn invisible!"

>>
>>24684294

<I can limit it's use to big threats or to conserve stamina for when we... we finally come against the void queen.>
>>
>>24684327
We should probably test that out. Haven't done any training today.
>>
<Thank you. Don't worry about size, I was planning to build it into the exosuit.> You say.
<Alright.> She responded. <So you'll need one that works in zero-G. Ion propelled, maybe...>

"I can't wait. I've been meaning to learn some new things. I still have to beat Damien to mastering Invisibility, too!"
"Let's go do that after dinner, then." summer said, and took another bite.

Sarvesh came out of the kitchen, next to you, his own burgers on his abdomen. He tore off a bit with his mandibles, and started to eat. "These are rather delicious." He said. "Mind if I sit?"
>>
>>24684427

We did that already
>>
>>24684427
"Go ahead! What have you been up to, Sarvesh?"
>>
>>24684427
"Of course not, Sarvesh, take a seat."

>>24684433
Not properly, we just cheated.

I'd still like for Heather to actually learn invisibility.
>>
>>24684446
Of course we're going to learn it, but we already won the competition.
>>
>>24684427

"as a matter of fact, we don't."

<leaning towards ion propelled as well. I'll work on the details later, enjoy your food.>
>>
"Of course not, Sarvesh. Take a seat."
"If I did, I would break one." Sarvesh chuckled, and scooted a dais next to the table and sat on it, starting to eat.
"What have you been up to, Sarvesh?"
"Mostly being rather boring." He said. "Playing futurecraft with pheles, doing homework, a bit of telekinesis training. There was a glitch with some of Nerull's drones, so I had to fix those up remotely."
"Remotely?"
"Yes, through the extranet." Sarvesh said. "Not using psionic powers at all. And then Robin's been trying to teach me to teleport further... but she's not the best teacher."
"Yes I am!" Robin called across the room.
>>
>>24684568
"So you're getting on okay with her now?"

"I should probably do some training as well. It's been such a busy week."
>>
>>24684568

"you two seem to get along rather well now, I'm glad. I never did get to meddle though, but this is fine too."
>>
"So you're getting on okay with her now?"
"Seems so." Sarvesh said. "I think it helped when we fought devourer. She... saved my life, by disintegrating its claw. I still don't get how she does that disintegration, but she does."
"I never did get to meddle, though." You say.
"Poor you." Sarvesh said. "You can probably meddle with Ellie and that new fellow. Lin, I think he's called?"
"I should probably do some training as well. It's been such a busy week."
"Well, maybe we could all go up to one of the training rooms and see what we can do." Sarvesh said. "I'm tempted to try branching out somehow. Technopathy, or maybe manifestation. It would be interesting to manifest machines."
>>
>>24684676
"Yeah! That would be awesome if we could get that to work. I'd never have to worry about ordering small parts again."
>>
>>24684676

"Manifestation would suit you, you already know how most machines work on an intimate level, if you ask Summer nicely, she could teach you the basics and maybe she can gain a few new insights on machines. That way both of you might learn from each other and the scientists can get some data to pick through!"

>i hope this won't interfere with any plans we made, just thought i'd throw it out there.
>>
>>24684676
"I could try sending you my technopathy skill if Manus lets us use that worm, Sarvesh."
>>
"Yeah! That would be awesome if we could get that to work." You say. "I'd never have to worry about ordering small parts again!"
"Yeah, we're running out of decabulators." Sarvesh said. "I mean, nuts and bolts aren't an issue because of those component printers the drones have, but the lack of decabs make things rather bothersome."
"Manifestation would suit you, you already know how most machines work on an intimate level, if you ask Summer nicely, she could teach you the basics and maybe she can gain a few new insights on machines. That way both of you might learn from each other and the scientists can get some data to pick through!"
"Sorry I can't make those sorts of things." Summer said. "I probably could if I focused more on manifestation, but I'm branching out into... well.. Creation. No, no, that's the wrong word."

The manifestation on her back closed the book and vanished.
"Genesis. That's what I'm doing."

"... Are you okay, Summer?" Sarvesh asked.
"Mostly." Summer responded. You scritched her ears more, and she started to purr.

<Genesis. Creation. Manifestation. Interesting.> Serpensal said. <She reminds me of a Flare. Burning bright and burning out.>
>>
>>24684776
<You've really got us figured out, Serpensal.>

"Don't burn yourself out, Summer."
>>
>>24684776
"Shall we head to the training rooms now?"
>>
>>24684776
<It's the 'burning out' part that worries me. She's pushing herself harder and harder because she thinks she's useless.>
>>
>>24684776

>is she reading the bible?

<that's... worrying.>

"Just don't go and, umm, burn yourself out, okay?"
"I'm worried about you."

>some things aren't meant to be done, even if one could bend the laws of physics over a table and have their way with it.
>>
<You've really got us figured out, Serpensal.> You say.
<Smarter than before.> Serpensal said. <The Enlightened say I should be smarter than I am. Perhaps I am, but do not recognize it.>
<It's the 'burning out' part that worries me. She's pushing herself harder and harder because she thinks she's useless.>
<No.> Serpensal said. <She's pushing herself harder and harder because of momentum. Because the faster you go, the faster you can. Every crest of every hill is something new for her. A new sunrise, a new flare.>
It paused.
<Give me to her. She is warm. And I must give her answers.> It said, after a moment. <No, questions. Give her questions.>
"Just don't go and... um, burn yourself out, okay?" You ask Summer.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine." Summer said.
"... I'm worried about you." You say.
"Don't be." She said. "I'll be fine. Promise. It's just... At first I did this because I thought I was useless. And then I actually started to help, and... now I... Now I want what I can do. What I can really really change if I really tried. I want to help everyone, not just my friends."
>>
>>24684902
"Serpensal wants to sit on your head, Summer."

Float him off with TK and put him there.
>>
>>24684902

"Serpensal would like to speak to you, if you don't mind of course?"

if she agrees, plomp him on her head, gently.
>>

>>24684902
"Promise? I don't want to see your catbrain leak out."

"Serpensal wants to sit on your head, Summer." You say.
"Okay!" She said, and you plomped him on her head.
"Shall we go to the training rooms now?"
"Yes, let's." Sarvesh said. He finished his last hamburger, and closed his eyes. He stuck his mandibles into his mouth, and gently touched you and Summer with his lower arms. there was a flash of light, and your ears popped- and then you were standing in the manifestation chamber. Kailyn squeaked and jumped back comically, and Summer started to giggle- and then stopped, as Serpy pulsed something at her.
"Oh! Um. Hey there! Wasn't expecting you three to just show up like this. What's up?"
"I'm just hanging out and watching these two." Summer said absentmindedly.
"Oh, you two want to try manifesting something?"
"If it's possible, yes." Sarvesh said.

"How should I start, Doc? I want to manifest some basic electronic thingies. Stuff that we're running low on in the workshop, mainly."
"Well, from what we know of manifestation, concepts and ideas are the most important." She said. "It might be best to start with something simple that you're familiar with."
"How about a screw?"
"Yes, that would work. Climb within that sensory deprivation chamber, and put on the goggles. They'll allow you to see the inside of the container proper on a molecular scale, with a lot of computer graphics added."

You climb into the chamber, and pull on the goggles- you could see the container easily, and you could see that it was a perfect vacuum, without more than a few quivering molecules. You focus on a screw... and work to bring it into reality.

Focusing your will, you try and imagine a screw, feeling it roll along your fingers, the threading designed for clasping close...

And the mass spectrometer wavered, sensing something there for a few moments, and you got a little dizzy. It was there for a moment, and started to fade...
Come on, you *know* this! You've spent your entire life with tools, components, small parts, large parts, ion drives... you live and breathe this stuff!
And then the container shook, and burst open, as screws, bolts, nuts, and decabulators spilled out, a nail and a screwdriver somewhere in the pile. You were still a little dizzy, but they were... There. Very there. Summer picked one up with her own manifestation.
"Oooh, these things aren't illusions!"

"Hell yes!" You say, and pick through the pile, finding various components and a small, miniscule piston. They were all basic... but a moment later, you had a small, four legged drone made entirely out of manifested parts. It was entirely useless, wandering in circles, mindless without true circuits or programming.
"Woo!" You say, and cheer dizzily.
"So cool." Summer said. "You just gotta imagine them real."

And then, digging through the pile, you see something that you hadn't noticed before.

A recabulator.
But you had a three inch recabulator just... sitting there, perfectly spherical.
"... I made *science*." You say, looking down at the recabulator.

"What's up with recabulators?" Kailynn asked.
"They can't be produced at all, because the circuit needs to be broken, and then power flushed, and then repaired utterly flawlessly. It just doesn't work if it isn't made all at once. It's a logistics problem that nobody's been able to figure out. Until now." Sarvesh said.

And then you notice something. Something horrible.
"... It's three inch." Sarvesh said. "So it's..."
"Useless." You say. "Might as well be dead weight."

"But still. This means... I could maybe make a four inch recabulator! Or maybe even a two inch! And I can give it to a technology museum or something."
"Maybe." Sarvesh said.
"Anyway, it should be your turn now." Summer said. "Go go!"
"Alright, alright." Sarvesh said, and made his way into the chamber. Kailynn hit a few keys, and Sarvesh slipped on the goggles, and focused...

And a small, incredibly simple circuit appeared, and wavered slightly. It looked right...
Sarvesh connected it to some of the parts you'd created, and then frowned.
"It's a dud." He said. "It looks right, but it's not conductive at all."

"Aww. but you got the shape right, so the chemistry won't take too much!"
"Good point." Sarvesh said. He focused on it, and pushed it away- it vanished. "...Huh. You got to like.. unimagine it."
"It's a good start, though, you'll get it." You say.
"Alright!" He said, and climbed in again.

You look over to the droid.
<Hey there, little guy.> You tell it.
<Yip! Yip!> It barked, and panted. It acted strangely like a dog- not smart enough to do anything except understanding simple commands.

Another circuit appeared, and Sarvesh connected it again- and a lightbulb lit up on it.
"Success!" He said.

<"Sit!"> You call, and the drone sat on it's butt- technically something it wasn't designed to do, but it worked nonetheless, if you ignore one of the screws unscrewing themselves. It wasn't very cute... but you could fix that with more parts.
"You picked that up quite fast." You say.
"So did you." Sarvesh said.
"Both you guys are doing awesome!" Summer said.
"Yep!" Kailynn added.
"Now for my turn." Summer said. "Thanks, Serps, I'll try that."
"No problem. Anticipation. Curiosity. Science." He said. Kailynn's eyebrows rose when she saw it, and Summer walked to the far end of the room, where there was no chamber.

Then she closed her eyes, and glowing yellow cracks appeared on the ground.

A droplet fell from her nose, and the cracks started to open up, revealing brick-
"Stop, stop, summer!" Kailynn said.
"Hm?" Summer asked, looking up.
"You've been overworking yourself. Sit down."
"But-"
"Sit. Down." Kailynn said, an authoritive tone entering her voice. You'd never heard the normally bubbly green-haired doctor quite like this, save the time you had radiated yourself rather badly.
"Yes ma'am." Summer said, and sat. Kailynn started putting sensors on the tiger, and handed her a large pill to take.

<Summer, I know you want to get better, but I don't want you to hurt yourself. Please, just slow down a little.>
"I was so close!" She grumbled, but Kailynn shushed her. You sit down next to her, and hug her.
"Again, Summer? I'm the one who's supposed to doople their brains from their nose. Not you."
"Yeah, I thought it would be fine." She said. "If I was careful."
"Again? This has happened before?"
"Just a little earlier today." Summer said.
Kailynn just sighed. "You know, your own safety is more important than our research."
"I'm not doing this for your research, you know." Summer said.
Kailynn just sighed again, and looked at the displays.
"Do you two know of anyone else that has had this happen?"

>>
"Robin, when she learned TK. She got over that pretty quickly, though."
"Yes, she came to me about it, and I told her to cool down on things a bit." She said. "It's interesting, though- it suggests that they can only do their own specialization perfectly."
"And Damien as well, when his sister was in trouble. But I sent him to the medbay when we figured out a way to save her, so you probably know about it."
"... No, I didn't." She said. "He never came by."
"And Sarvesh's eyes dribbled when he stopped Surya from crashing, but Theta fixed it up."
"And you didn't think to come see me either?" Kailynn asked Sarvesh.
"I'd assumed Theta knew what he was doing." Sarvesh said.
"I'll need to check you too, and I'll need to hunt down Damien."
"Here's the trick to catching him." Summer said. "Focus on looking in one area, and he'll sense that's where you're going- then change your mind and go to the opposite place."
>>

"I'd like to see that." Sarvesh said, and chuckled.
"I think she has a forklift somewhere."
"... Good point." Sarvesh said, and vanished into blue light.

"Well, how are you feeling?" Summer said. "You could try that invisible thing you were talking about."

Light warped around you, and you felt it creating a strange bubble... and Summer's eyes widened.
"That looks so weird!" she said. "You're all... wobbly. And transparent."

You take a deep breath, and focus more, edging into it... And then your skin burns, badly, and you hiss loudly. Your body was on fire, burning, and you quickly tear your way away from the ability- and you were on fire. You screamed.

Summer pounced on you, and you fell into the water, somewhere, your skin burned badly. Steam shot up around you, and you found yourself blacking out.

You wake up bandaged, and Summer was leaning over you. You were in a dark, creaking, wooden room, and her head was bobbing.

A drop of blood fell from her nose.
And then she collapsed.

Promptly, one of the walls of the strange wooden room you were in vanished, becoming grey fog.
The room was vanishing, slowly. There was only one door out, and blood was pooling from Summer's nose.

And then she promptly vanished into fog as well.

Okay OP, if you're going to take every 1 or 100 that comes up even if it's past the roll cutoff, then the chance of critical success or failure becomes a variable dependent on player count, and number of active rolls, which encourages errant and repeated rolling. I know it's your quest and you can do what you want, but you should strongly consider sticking to your cutoff (wherever that is) in the future.

Just my two cents.
>>
>>24686517
Because they give a reasonable representation of the playerbase?
>>
>>24686525
No they don't. They give a representation of people who read it in the archives afterwards.

>>24686557
So where were all these players at the beginning of the thread? Even accounting for the 2-4 players who only contribute when rolling, there's about a dozen or so more replies (Mostly rolls) to that one post than anywhere earlier in the thread. It's not plausible that a dozen or more players all happened to join at that exact moment.

>That's a good point. As it is, the cutoff for non-crit rolling is the first three.

You sit up, tearing off your bandages- they were perfectly healed, though your clothing was rather badly singed- and you looked out around the room. It looked like some sort of cabin of a ship, though the walls and floor were slowly melting into fog.
The ship creaked, and tilted, and you bolted out the door, slamming it shut behind you.
The moment you got through, you were in some sort of glade, flowers across the field, and in the distance was an oak tree, a tower, and a strange, open door.
The tower shuddered, and burst into fog- as the sky slowly, carefully started to go grey as well. Behind you, the ship- which was landed in the glade- melted away into a dark red fog. Everything sped up- then slowed down- and sped up again, as the wind stopped blowing entirely. Gravity grew light, and you didn't know what to do.
So you bolted toward the open door.

You slammed to the ground somewhere, and your head hurt, badly. Opening your eyes, you see Kailynn working hard, flicking an IV, and grabbing and mixing an assortment of drugs.

You were entirely unharmed, you realize, as you sit up.

Summer was lying on the bed, unconscious, strapped up to all of the machinery in the medbay.
"Heather!" Damien said. "You're back! It's been an hour. We ... couldn't find you." He and Sarvesh were sitting at the side, and Sarvesh pulled you away from the working doctor.
>>
>>24686593
People lurk. More than two people. It's not plausible that all those rolls coming in within a couple of minutes had a very large component of samefagging when there's a 30 second cooldown before you can post again.
>>
>>24686593
What?
Many many players are not interested in half of what happens in the quest, either the action, or the romance, or the discussions, or whatever. But when a roll comes up, anyone can participate.
Even lazy fucks who just read, they roll too, sometimes.
>>
>>24686628

I don't know about you, but I don't post every time - probably only ~1/3rd to 1/4th of the time at most, sometimes only once or twice throughout the thread if there are enough replies to keep things going, and popular choices match mine. Eh? I'm just trying to stay by her side but still not have to be there?
Please tell me how, so I can avoid it in future.
>>
>>24687283
That because it was you.. she somehow manifested a you to heal me.
>>
>>24687283
Oh. OH.

She didn't know what to do. Manifested a Theta.
But when she manifests a psion, they use her psionics, and she doesn't know how to use Biokinesis.

Is that what she's been practicing? Disciplines she doesn't know how to use?
That's dangerous!
>>
>>24687283
Let's not them how.
>>
>>24687283

"she... manifested a perfect copy of Theta to heal me."
>>
>>24687283
"She manifested a you."
>>
>>24687283
"...She manifested you, Theta. She made a fake you to heal me. How is that even possible?"
>>
>>24687283
mumble "It's just like the wand... She Manifested a medium that focused her powers."
>>
>>24687301
I'm willing to bet that as long as she doesn't know that, or while she actively ignores it, she can use the psionics.

Conceptual issues and all that. Makes me wonder, what if the reason the artificials can use their power perfectly is because they believe they can?
>>
>>24687463
Quick Heather, believe really hard that you're god!
>>
>>24687301
It's like the Wand. It forces her to use the power to make the 'creation' function for real.
>>
"... She manifested you, Theta. She made a fake you to heal me. How is that even possible?"
"... It's her world." Sarvesh said, after a moment. "It would obey the rules that makes sense to her."
Kailynn paused, and grabbed a notebook, scribbling.
"Did you get checked too, Damien?"
"Yeah." He said. "I didn't see what was going on until you'd already vanished... Sorry." He said.

Theta sat down, and relaxed next to you. "I can feel her brain starting up. I'm keeping her unconscious for now, but she *will* be fine."
>>
>>24687501
That's what Summer is doing!
>>

>>24687522
Try to turn invisible again.
We shouldn't waste Summer's sacrifice.

How about NO, and we wait to try again until everyone is rested and okay?
>>
>>24687571
No, get fucked.
>>
>>24687522

"thank goodness."

>sleep time!

let's lay off the invisibility for now, might want to see if we can incorporate it in to our exosuit instead.
>>
>>24687522
"Thank you, Theta. It seems like every time I try to improve my psionics, someone suffers for it."
>>
>>24687571
I hope you get Demanifested.
>>
"Thank you, Theta." You say. "It seems like every time I try to improve my psionics, someone suffers for it."
"Well.. just come grab me whenever you're trying something new." He said, and shrugged. "I can heal you if something goes wrong, and if you make sure there's nobody else there, they won't be all self-sacrificing." He said.

You sit back in your chair, and after Sarvesh and Damien say their goodbyes, you continue to sit there, Summer's tail coiled around your wrist. Kailynn was currently looking at data silently, and theta was tapping his- or her- feet, waiting.

"... You want me to do the cat ears and tail thing?" He asked. "The one you asked me about before. Or, uh, more UV eyes? Or something? I just wanna cheer you up a bit."
>>
>>24687730
"I dunno... but UV eyes ARE pretty cool."
>>
>>24687730

>>

I don't suppose you could give more a more resilient brain?

But I like the UV eyes. Seeing more is always great.

Dunno how my fingers typed more twice.

It's okay, I'm fine.

I'm just trying to figure out what went wrong.

Hey, can you make me some extra tentacles and things? Psuedopods!
>>

"Well, I guess the cat ears and tail thing might cheer me up. Maybe."

"I don't suppose you could give me a more resilient brain?"
"Sorry, but no." He said.
"Catgirl would be a nice surprise for Summer when she wakes up." You say.
"Alright." He said, and weaved his fingers, cracking them. Then he closed his eyes, and focused.

The first thing you noticed was that you couldn't hear anything anymore.
The second was that you could suddenly see movement much, much easier. Moving objects stuck out, while the stationary ones faded into the background. Colors tweaked slightly, and everything seemed brighter.
Then your spine enlongated, and you felt nearly half of it sticking out around your butt. You felt it start to wiggle itself.
And finally, you could hear again. It was as if you could focus your hearing different directions at will, hearing them with much more fidelity than normal.

<Very interesting.> Serpensal, and snuggled closer into your chest.
You felt something rub your lower, wiggling spine, and it felt like someone itching your hair. Shivers went up your back, and look back to see Theta tickling a brown, wriggling tail.
"Sup." He said. "How's this?"
He scratched your head- and your ear flicked involuntarily. "Looks like your nervous system's working right. How's your sight?"
>>

"It works!" He said, then grinned. "And I hid a happy surprise in your new body."
"It's nyat what I'm used to, Cat's for sure." You say.
"... Goddamnit, don't make me change you back."
"Wake up Summer, so we can watch movies right meow!"
Theta banged his head into the wall, and you examined your hands- you didn't have claws, sadly.
>>
>>24687937
Nyeh, don't do that!

Claw him!
>>
>>24687996
"Sorry, couldn't resist.

My vision is just fine, moving objects are much more interesting, it's more vivid in a way.

And I nyaaever told you to stop petting me."

Hug Theta. Thank him for cheering us up.

Do we have sharp teeth? Pounce on Theta!

Entwine our tail with Summer's.

Yes

"Sorry, couldn't resist." You say, and pull him into a hug. "My vision is just fine, moving objects are much more interesting. It's more vivid, in a way."
"Alright."
"and I nyaaaver told you to stop petting me."
"... Sorry, not into catgirls. If you wanted me to make you into like, a catboy or something, I'd be totally into that. Especially if I made you half fae."
"Happy surprise?" You ask, and squeeze your legs together experimentally. Nothing was there that shouldn't be, thankfully.
"Hah, not that kind of happy surprise." Theta cackled.
You pull your tongue out of your mouth, and though it was slightly more bristly, it was nowhere near Summer's tongue.
"Not that either."
"Also, you will keep catnip far, far away from me, Mister." You say. "Miss? Whatever."
"... Well, there's an idea." He said. "One second, lemme fuck with your biology so catnip'll work." He said, and focused. You felt your lungs change very, very slightly. Then he grinned. "There!"

Oh come on, isn't it obvious? We can purr now!
PURR!
>>
>>24688140
Oh dear.
Where did we hide that stash? Let's get it ready for tonight. Movies with catgirl-us and Summer and catnip? Do want.
We should invite Robin. For reasons.
>>
>>24688140
"You. You are pure evil. Evil, I say."
>>
>>24688140
"You have the power to turn anyone into pretty much anything, changing species, gender, and physical characteristics with ease, and you are somehow still into guys and little else.

You have my pity, the world is a lovely place when you can find someone attractive no matter their gender, species, or other little things like that."
>>
>>24688140
"Anna, Summer and I spent a weekend discovering that certain substances that lower your inhibitions help you use your powers in new, unexpected ways.
Summer got the catnip, that's how she discovered her pocket dimension thing.
Any hints as to the surprise?"
>>
>>24688140
"Are you a top or a bottom?"
>>
>>24688140
"Me on catnip would be a Catastrophe."
>>
>>24688209
We don't need to invite Robin. She'll invite herself once she hears 'catgirls' and 'catnip'.
>>
Ya I agree, its probably purring. Think happy thoughts.
>>
"Oh no! All the things that could happen!"
Theta grinned, and pulled up his personacom. "Hey, Robin, hide some catnip in Summer and Heather's room, will you?"
<Sure!> the response came.
"... You. You are pure evil. Evil I say!" You say.
"Mwahahah." Theta said.
"You have the power to turn anyone into pretty much anything, changing species, gender, and physical characteristics with ease, and you're somehow still into guys and little else." you say.
"You have my pity. The world is a lovely place when you can find someone attractive no matter their gender, species, or other little things like that."
"If I was into everything, I'd never get anything done." Theta said.
"Any hints as to the surprise?"
"Cats can do it, and some big ones."
"... Purring?"
"Damnit." He said. "Way to ruin everything."
You grin at him, and start to think happy thoughts. Nothing seemed to happen.
"Too bad you can't consciously control it unless you know how. Hah!"

"How cruel." You say, and glare at him.
"Well, time she woke up." He said, and ruffled your hair, making both of your ears flick. "Seeya."
"Don't do anything I'll have to fix!" Kailynn called after Theta as he left.
You sit there for a while, and absently pet your own tail. You were fuzzy, and warm, and your tail was both sensitive and exotic. You reached up to scratch your own ears- when Summer's ears flicked, the movement causing you to hone in on it.
"Mmgph?" Summer asked, and slowly sat up. "Where are we? Did I..?"
"Yes. You did. It was stupid." Kailynn said, unhappy.

Theta is charged with crimes against humanity for creating the never-ending catpun machine.

Yeah. I hate it when the quest runner uses something like that and then when the character inevitably asks "yeah, what?" you can't answer because you don't have a fucking clue where it was meant to be going and the whole quest is just hanging around waiting for one guy to finish what he was saying.

noted, I was typing on an ipod one handed at the time though and figured (correctly) that I was pressed for time...got it in too late anyway

Heather was already pretty much a catgirl, all she was missing was the ears the tail and the cat puns.
Now that she is complete, there is no stopping her!

Let the Catpocalypse begin!
>>
>>24688627
>Yeah, I've fallen for that before. Got tired of it.

You climb up on summer, and pull her into a hug.
"Meow!" You call, and Summer looked you up and down. She watched your tail wriggling wildly, and giggled, pulling you into a tight hug.
"You're okay! I wasn't sure if things would... stick." She said.
"Alright." Kailynn said. "I need to give this paper to the rest, and we're off for a meeting." She said. "Heather, can I trust you to stick to Summer this entire time? Don't let go of her for a moment? And Summer, no psionics. None at all. At *all*."
"... Not even one manifestation?"
Kailynn paused a moment.
"Summon Winter, and let me take a look at things. No more than that. Don't even demanifest her."
"Okay." Summer said, and Winter appeared on the bed as well.

Then Winter pulled you into a hug as well.
"... So what happened?" Summer asked, quietly.
>>
>>24688714
"I was burnin' then you pulled me somewhere, and manifested a Theta to fix me."
>>
>>24688714
"You fixed me up with a Theta, I eventually wandered out of some foggy cabin and appeared back here and you were unconscious and bleedy from the nose, because you're a big dummy who works too hard.

Thank you Summer."
>>
>>24688714
I'm a catgirl!

Let's go watch movies.
>>
>>24688714
I fucked up, you saved me, Theta, Damien and Kailynn saved you, Theta turned me into a cat girl.
>>
>>24688714
Hey, hey. Scratch my ears.

Is this Winter or Winter?
>>
>>24688714
"I accidentally turned myself into barbecue and you sauteed your brain saving me. Then Kailynn and Theta saved you. also, theta turned me into a catgirl!"
>>
>>24688714
"You pulled me into your world and fixed me up and then passed out and your world started dissolving into fog and I had to try and get out and I managed it and appeared next to you and then Theta and Kailynn just about managed to save you from overworking yourself to death and then Theta turned me into a catgirl."
>>
>>24688714
Oh and next time I'm on fire, please let me stop drop and roll before you sacrifice yourself heroically for me.
>>
"You fixed me up with a theta, and I eventually wandered out of some foggy cabin and appeared back here, and you were unconscious and bleedy from the nose, because you're a big dummy who works too hard." You say, and pull her into a tighter hug. "Thank you, Summer."
"You're an adorable dummy who needs to not set yourself on fire." Summer said.
And then winter started scratching your ears, and your leg twitched. It was like getting an itch scratched in all of the best ways, warmth flooding through your scalp. You found yourself melting into Summer, purring, your chest reverberating.
Summer giggled, and pulled you into a tighter hug. "And now you're a catgirl!" She said.
"Let's go watch... meowvies." You say, and Summer giggled.
"Yes, let's nyat waste time." Summer responded, giggling. "Let's hope this is a purrfect night."

With Summer, Serpensal, and Winter, the three of you made your way back to your room, Summer needing to stop for a bit now and then, tired. By the time you finally get back in your room, Robin was sitting on the foot of your bed, a container in her hand.

Then she shot both of you a mischievous grin, and her cat ears perked, black tail wiggling madly with malicious glee.

Then she opened the container of catnip she had in her hands.
