You are Ssen, a Lamia raised by a human Paladin who adopted you after killing the ones who birthed you. You are grown now, and Father has passed on. After a great deal of work, you have become a Paladin like your Father, and now take up his duties.

You are accompanied by your best friend from childhood, the insect druid Tricia; Mage, a magic user who ran away from his family of cannibal raiders known as the Ghouls (Yes, his name is Mage. It was his idea); Persephone, a 22-year old thief/ex-guerllia fighter (She goes by Peri), and Mari, a 13-year old prodigy scholar/now sniper, who has her mind and soul trapped within Peri's body; and Lea, a deeply religious musician/martial artist, trained by her father, a famous trainer for arena fighters, she's covered from her mouth down in bandages to hide the horrific state her body has become thanks to the 'cures' that saved her from cancer.

Your journey continues...

>Your journey continues...
with a redeeming ray of light from Beacon on Adahn.
>>
>>24720018

It's BEFRIENDING BEAM time.

...we don't have to roll for that either, do we?
>>
>>24720018
Beam that fucker up, Scotty.
>>
>>24720040
You point Beacon at Adahn. Do you want to say anything before you let the energy fly?
>>
>>24720040
I agree. It will make it look more impressive especially to the Leviathan sailors and the mer. Not to mention the damage we do on Adahn
>>
>>24720065
Light Bless you with Clarity.
>>
>>24720065
"May the Light clear your mind!"
>>
>>24720065
Activate Voice of JUSTICE.
"Listen to a paladin when she speaks to you!"
>>
>>24720065
Not really. Enlighten the fuck out of him already.
>>
>>24720065
Personally, no. But if anything. See the light? Look unto the Truth?
>>
Rolled 10

>>24720086
>>
>>24720086
I like this one best.
>>
>>24720065
I'm betting we do. It'll definitely help shape what happens next.

Here's my go at it: 'Light, let this poor soul see what they have done, let them know that just as it is their choice to do this, they can undo it.'
>>
>>24720065
You could have prevented this!

but no really

>>24720082
>>
>>24720065

"Peace out."
>>
>>24720065
"My name is Ssen Patrick, and I'm not a monster. I'm a Paladin."

"Never forget it."
>>
>>24720111
I laughed. I don't want to say this but I laughed.... but hell if it isn't in character too.
>>
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS LISTEN

WHY DIDN'T YOU LISTEN
>>
I wrote >>24720086 because I thought it would be funny after all the times he's brushed us off, but >>24720109 has more of the "tone" that we're after.

Or we could go for maximum irony and say "Whatever."
>>
>>24720111
I vote this.
>>
>>24720065
remember, there is always a chance at redemption.
>>
>>24720111
This would be hilarious.
>>
>>24720152
>Or we could go for maximum irony and say "Whatever."
That's so tempting, but we're not him and we're not vindictive.

"Peace out" is hilarious, but too much of an OOC reference.
>>
>>24720152
I dunno, whatever is hilarious.
>>
>>24720065
In the name of the light I shall break this night Adahn! See the world with new eyes!
>>
>>24720111
I laughed half a cookie out of my nose.
>>
No funny business, it's time for seriousness.
>>
>>24720206

With a trip like yours?
>>
>>24720206
Ssen does silly. Its entirely in character for her to crack a pun.
>>
>>24720111
This is too goddamn perfect. Do it.
>>
>>24720221
Not in the middle of redeeming someone, we aren't spiderman
>>24720211
I was Nat1, but the dice took that seriously.
>>
>>24720221
It's entirely in-character, except that it's an out-of-character quote that doesn't fit in this world.

Let's laugh and move on, and say something serious, or in-character funny.
>>
.>>24720111
Not a fan of one-liners unless they're Punny, but if we're ABSOLUTELY set on this, and not going for a paladinish quote...
>>
>>24720233

Point taken. Let's not jinx the di-crap.
>>
Rolled 17, 9, 7 = 33

>>24720082
"May the Light clear your mind!" You say. "And listen to the Paladin the next time she speaks to you!"

A burst of light flies out from Beacon and smashes into Adahn's face. His mask shatters instantly into pieces. Chunks of stone drop to the ground. He drops to his knees and screams as his wounds reopen, the healing magic vanishing.

It even goes further. His smooth face goes a little spotty, his perfectly angular hair goes limp and changes from a pure brown to a duller darker shade, and his nose gets a little turned up and his chin gets less angular. He vomits up some horrible looking black mass onto the ground.

"No...no...what have you done?" He says.

Tricia, and Mari both try to take out the last mer.

Adahn gets back up and swings at you. It seems he's determined to fight you until he can't stand...but he doesn't have that special quickness he had before.
>>
Adahn wasn't responding to Serious Face Ssen. Might as well try Leviathan Ssen.
>>
>>24720111
Maybe a paladin thing first?
>>
>>24720266
Aww man.
>>
>>24720266
You aren't Adahn anymore. I'm sorry. No more Lightbringer, No more Bringer of Darkness. No more story.

Trip him up.

What is your name child?
>>
>>24720233
When he's lying on the floor or we're saying all going to do our separate party things.

or if he gives us any last words before dying

Maybe the it would be appropriate to go

"Whatever man, Peace out"
>>
>>24720266

Alright, now I just feel sorry for the guy. Trip him, tail disarm him, and restrain him.

Maybe we can use "Peace out" on Peace herself.
>>
>>24720266
Disarm him with the beacon. He can hardly hold that thing now.
>>
>>24720065
In the name of His Light I forgive you for what you have done to me.
>>
>>24720266
I don't think he's Adahn anymore now. I think he's whoever he was before, like Ava was once Lilly.

>>24720297
This.
>>
>>24720269
We are not a dragon.
We are not a leviathan.
We are a Paladin.
>>
>>24720266
If he persists in fighting, tail-disarm him. And wave the others off.
>>
Tackle his ass and rip that fucking armor off of him.
>>
>>24720266
Guys take a step back and look at all this. We've already pretty much succeeded in everything we came out to do. Adahn is on his last legs and the host of merfolk has already been dispersed. We're coming down the home stretch.
>>
>>24720266
Tricia takes out the last corrupted Mer and puts the poor creature out of her miser. Poor things. You think as you look at the bodies on the deck. They didn't ask for any of that, and now thanks to Adahn, they're dead.

The boy looks around and realizes that he's surrounded. "No...no...It's not supposed to be like this. I'm suppose to win this part!" He sobs. "I get to march a huge army and have Ava at my side in a slinky evil dress, and then I get to be all cool and betray the Cold Shadow when it shows up at the end and everyone's...everyone's..." He sobs. "This is your fault, your fault!"

"What a loser." Isen says. "Ssen...your call now."
>>
>>24720327
Kill 'im.
>>
>>24720297
repeating this, perhaps without the tripping part.
>>
I'm still sad this dude pulled all of the Mer into this Mess

>>24720342
please, no.
>>
>>24720327
Strip him of his armor and put him in the brig.
>>
>>24720342

No. Ask what his name is. Ask him to surrender.

No condescension, no pity. Just calm.
>>
>>24720327
Tie him up and drag him back to Stone hall with us to stand trail. It is fitting.

Also that combat took a legit 3 hour and 12 mins to complete.
>>
>>24720327
"Just... just tie him up. He's given us enough of headache for now. I'll talk with him later."

Check over everyone.
>>
>>24720327
Put a hand on his shoulder.

"NOW would you like to sit down for some sugar sticks?"
>>
>>24720342
Worst Paladin.

>>24720327
"Yield."
>>
>>24720327
He's not a loser. He just spent Light only knows how long being tortured.
>>
>>24720327
To Isen: "Some monsters create more monsters. We can either choose the path of the Phoenix Empire, and become them ourselves by purging what we don't like, or we can deal with it."

Then this:>>24720345
>>
>>24720362
well, it WAS a boss. if ever there's a time for long combat, it's then. One of the few times I don't mind it so much.
>>
>>24720345
Yes, that. Then back to Bronze Peak.
>>
>>24720380
Stone Hall. Stone Hall people.
>>
hand out a honey stick

"Your name, child?"

We can arrest and judge him for his crimes afterwards
>>
>>24720402
No, Bronze Peak. Ava is in Bronze Peak.
>>
We're bringing him back to Ava, like we promised. A Paladin does not go back on her word.
>>
>>24720380
We are not taking him back to Bronze Peak. This retard need to be fully purged of Citadel's influence first before we let him get anywhere NEAR Lilly.
>>
>>24720414
He's free of the influence; now he just needs some serious mental help to get past the after-effects.
>>
>>24720408
We don't have any real means of getting to Bronze Peak this very second. We need to go back to Stone Hall first before we even think of going anywhere.
>>
Also he is largely guiltless. He was manupilated by Citadel for months.... or did you forget how he was at Peace's side in a trance?
>>
>>24720410
Depends on how he's tried, honestly. We can try to figure out how he responds to things now that he's cleared of the influence, but keep in mind he DID decide to agree with the influence. He wants to have his special story back. He's psychologically wrecked.
>>
>>24720423
Well from what he just said he was going along with it. So we're gonna keep him inna cell until we are SURE he's out of CItadel's grasp.
>>
>>24720423
My problem is he freely dealt with them. He needs to be punished on some level. As much as Peace? God no. But he can't just walk free.
>>
>>24720327
"No. It's yours. I gave you every opportunity to live a quiet life with the young woman who loves you, and you turned my offers down."

"I'm placing you under arrest."
>>
>>24720433
Thats a result of brainwashing. They removed all influences other then themselves. used magic to influence his mind, promised him miracles... and then asked him what he wanted.

Classic cult behaviour.
>>
>>24720327
"You're such a big fan of stories, you should have known what would happen if you turned evil. Evil doesn't get to win."
>>
>>24720442

Lawful good, not lawful stupid. Let's not be assholes. If our positions were reversed we'd want Adahn to understand too.
>>
>>24720451
And people are still punished for their actions. 'Brainwashed' doesn't just wipe the slat clean. Never has never will.
>>
>>24720373
"Some monsters create more monsters. We can either choose the path of the Phoenix Empire, and become them ourselves by purging what we don't like, or we can deal with it."

Isen lowers his sword and nods. "I follow the wisdom of the Paladin."

You point Beacon at him. "You aren't Adahn anymore. I'm sorry. No more Lightbringer, No more Bringer of Darkness. No more story." You say. "Yield."

The Boy just glares at you and keeps pointing his sword at everyone.

Isen sighs. "Tara...hold him." He says as he takes a step forward towards the boy.

He tried to turn the sword on Isen, and then Tara is behind him, in a sleeper hold. He struggles a little and then Isen knocks the blade out from his hands with his sword and kicks it to the side.

"Alright, let him go." He says.

Tara lets him go and he drops to his knees.

You sigh. "Tie him up. We'll take him back to Bronze Peak for trial."

The others nod and do so. Dana helps Lea push the dead mer over the side of the boat, with a few words. The Mer don't treat the dead with much honor, dead is dead, and a corpse is just more food for all the other life out there and better use for it. Still she is a little sad.

You sail back into port. On the way you hold out the package of barley sugar sticks to Adahn, offering him one.

He bursts into tears and incoherent sobs.
>>
>>24720451
So how do we break through his expectations about life and help him rebuild? We really don't have time for this. I hope that Lily succeeds if she want's to continue caring for him.
>>
>>24720465
But do we really want to coddle the dumb bastard? He STILL doesn't seem to understand what he's done wrong.
>>
>>24720478
That should say 'Stone Hall for Trial.'

Damn, now I'm doing it.
>>
>>24720499

We wouldn't, either. But if you insist, then fine, he should still be tried for his crimes.
>>
>>24720499
Do we even know how old he is

whats our average age in the party in human years removing the outlier? [Mari]
>>
>>24720478
When we get back into Stone Hall send for Ava. We hold the trail thing back for a bit until then.
>>
>>24720478
Echo, call him the boy. "Lily will be happy to see you." Pat him on the shoulder, try to console him.
>>
>>24720499
perhaps

>>24720478
perhaps not.

"When I next see Ava I will tell her you are here. She will probably rush here to visit you. I'll vouch that you were under the influence of malign forces and your sentance should be relatively light."
>>
>>24720511
Can we send a bird letter to lily about his trial?

Can we try and get him Asylum'd/Jailed in Bronze Peak in any case? We gotta keep our promise
>>
>>24720511
Ava said to send for her the moment we had Adahn, and she'd come as fast as possible. Let's do so.
>>
Change
>When I next see Ava I will tell her you are here
I will send a letter to Ava that you are here.
>>
>>24720521
Ssen's 18. I think.

>>24720478
>bursts into tears and incoherent sobs
Ah jeez. This always happens.

I hope we can get him just some prison time on clauses of he-was-in-a-goddamn-mind-control-helmet. But we'll see.
>>
>>24720478
Toss his armor and sword overboard.
>>
Now we just need to get back to Coral and our horse.... then finish what we went there for in the first place damnit.
>>
>>24720541
Yknow knowing this prick he will probably break poor Lilly's heart upon catching sight of her.
>>
>>24720561
More like melt that shit down.
>>
>>24720561
> random Mer or Leviathans get hands on the armor or swords

I think we should dismantle or reforge it personally
>>
>>24720574
good thing we know an inventor AND a smith who might be nearby.
>>
>>24720571
Trench or volcano, either works.
>>
>>24720569
Probably. I can only hope she's grown through her process not to let him do that to her.
>>
>>24720561
We need it, along with the mask fragments. He was no mere Passion; this mask might well work for our purposes.
>>
>>24720588
I doubt it was pure metal
>>
>>24720569
Calm down

Do we even know his backstory?

If he's been a super fan of the lightbringer story he was probably stoked when this whole adventure began

we admittedly killed his dreams many times over.

Perhaps if he's still a teen he's going through his chuuni years and he wanted to have a special snowflake dark and edgy hero ending
>>
>>24720588
Wont work, isn't made from the metal, only a dramatae mask will work.
>>
>>24720588
>His mask shatters instantly into pieces
I have my doubts it was pure and even if it was I doubt anyone picked the pieces up.
>>
>>24720521
"When I next see Ava I will tell her you are here. She will probably rush here to visit you. I'll vouch that you were under the influence of malign forces and your sentance should be relatively light."

He just glares at you and says nothing.

"Oh for the love of His Light and all that he sees, what in the Myriad Darknesses is this shit?" Isen says. "I thought the order was that if we sailed back and no sign of the Mer army then nothing would happen!"

"I think this, umm, might be something else." Tara says. "Like, look...I see someone waving at us."

You come and see. There's black smoke coming from the Leviathan, and you clearly see where a shell has impacted on the coast line.

"Easy." Mari says, looking through a spyglass. "That's Paladin Avery. He's waving a white sheet at us."
>>
>>24720592
Perhaps not (since obsidian isn't the right color for the Lantern metal), but it would still be useful.
>>
>>24720511
It's ok, Echo.

Ok, for the trial, we'll have to consider notifying Lily by mail so she can attend. Considering the lack of Lightmare, we're grounded for a little while, so we get some time to think about what we do next. Bronze Peak will probably take care of itself...hopefully.

We also need to go to White Tree. Among other things to do there is see how Mage's Sister is doing.

And speaking of Mage, we need to stop pushing him to do stuff. He can take care of himself, our suggestions are just that, suggestions. Valve does it right, he should work on what he feels is best (surprising discoveries would be great).

Those are my thoughts on the next few things we can do. Oh, and possibly figure out if Stone Hall could still use our stripend, or if the Vassat needs it more (and lets not forget our allies were promised an upgrade).
>>
>>24720608
Oh boy, can we pull up to him and find out what's going on?
>>
>>24720608
> The White Flag

oh god oh god oh gooooood

Hoping for the best
expecting the worst
>>
>>24720608
>You come and see. There's black smoke coming from the Leviathan, and you clearly see where a shell has impacted on the coast line.

Not good. Just the shoreline, or did it actually hit something in particular?
>>
>>24720608
"So... what. Does that mean he's surrendering? Or something?

Isen, break it down for me, I'm confused. I don't make the best decisions confused."
>>
>>24720608
And NOW We have the boss encounter. Taking over the Leviathan for our own purposes.
>>
>>24720608
"No rest for the wicked. Lets see what the hell just happened."
>>
>>24720643
Let's wait and find out what happen before jumping down this train of thought.
>>
>>24720643
I don't wanna know what would be a boss encounter if Adahn counts as a midboss

It just hit the shoreline...right where the Red Occuli lines used to be.

"So... what. Does that mean he's surrendering? Or something?

"Isen, break it down for me, I'm confused. I don't make the best decisions confused."

"Alright, get us closer." Isen says. You get closer and Isen cups his hands.

"Ahoy, Leviathan!" He says. "What's going on?"

"Ahoy, Audacious!" Avery calls back. "Had a problem. Dealt with it. Finishing it up." He motions to the side. "Climb the ladder. You need to see this."

Everyone looks at the lowered rope ladder, then back at you. Alright...this one might be a little tricky...

"If you need someone to hold up your tail as you ascend, dear Paladin. I am here to do my duty." Isen says.

After a little careful maneuvering, lots of upper body strength, and Tara holding most of your tail due to her strength. You flop onto the top of the Leviathan. Ugh...you're taking the quick way down, and then adding rope ladders to the things you don't like at all list.

Dana, Mage, and Lea are with Adahn. Isen, Tara, Tricia, and Peri/Mari came up with you.

Paladin Avery is there on the deck..which is an even more blood soaked mess than the Audacious.

"Lady Paladin. Your highness." Avery says. "It seems we had a spot of trouble here."

He points to a dead body on the ground. It's wearing a Passion mask. "I'd like to introduce you to the First Mate of the Leviathan."
>>
>>24720746
Of course. What did he do?
>>
>>24720746

Motherfuck. I suppose we never had a chance of getting help from Leviathan in the first place.
>>
>>24720746
Purge the Crew. NOW!!!!
>>
>>24720780
I think they already did that.
>>
>>24720746
"Interesting. The Dramatae have officially declared war on the Citadel."
>>
>>24720746
"So. You said you HAD trouble- is it over now? Should I be on guard for more mutineers?"
>>
>>24720746
>He points to a dead body on the ground. It's wearing a Passion mask. "I'd like to introduce you to the First Mate of the Leviathan."

Show this to Adahn. Proof that they're puppetmastering both sides.
>>
>>24720791
Well do it MORE!!! There are clearly more traitors aboard.
>>
>>24720746
Sigh. "I'm not really surprised by this at all. That's bad isn't?"

"How many of tried to mutiny?"
>>
>>24720759
Like we need to ask.

I suppose we need the remaining crew and any Redshirts we can pull together to get the Leviathan into dock. Plus, the dead aren't going to move themselves.
>>
>>24720798
Be quiet.
>>
>>24720746
"and what of this mess?"
>>
>>24720803
>"How many of tried to mutiny?"
>"How many of them tried to mutiny?"
>>
>>24720797
We could pull a Bradley and order Adhan to help bury the bodies.
>>
... now I'm doubly worried about the Mer back at Coral. And poor Lightmare.
>>
>>24720840
I'm more worried about the Lightmare than the Mer. Maybe I'm biased.

>>24720858
Eh. A little of both.
>>
>>24720746
>Isen helps you lift your tail

Oh god, why must he have been around for this.
>>
>>24720797
Seconded
>>
>>24720803
"I'm not really surprised by this at all. That's bad isn't?"

Tricia shrugs.

"How many of them tried to mutiny?" You ask.

"Well, my men are finding that out." Avery says. "I'm having them go room to room, deck by deck, searching everyone for one of these." He picks up a blank mask. "We're not risking anything. You fight, you get caught with one of these on your face, or you don't instantly submit? That's high treason." He says. "The Leviathan fired upon Occuli. I'm within my rights to execute everyone on this ship...but I feel restraint is needed." He lights up a new cigarette. "It's been slow going...this bitch is huge and has a lot of hiding places."

"How'd you find out?" Mari asks.

"Well, I was in contact with the ship for a bit before you left. Coordinating my defense, I told the captain to have the starboard side facing the way you said the army was going to arrive. He sent a message back in agreement." He takes a long drag. "Then, I see the Leviathan turn to opposite way once you all leave. The port side is facing you." He shrugs. "I thought that was a signal that something was wrong, so I and a squad row out to see what the issue was, maybe something had broken...and then the damn ship started to turn on US!" He snaps. "Thank His Light I know how to row." He mutters. "We get in close and jump in through one of the cannon windows. We see two masked bastards manning the cannons. They're readying to fire on MY men! So, after I killed them. I shot a flare order for my people to come in and take the Leviathan. I find a good amount of the crew tied up in the brig, and I let them out. Then...well..the last three hours have been rather busy." He finishes his smoke. "The captain's dead. But this shit must have missed my last letter." He kicks the dead first mate. He sighs. "So, the Leviathan's ours...or at least until Citadel sends a new Sky-Blue Occuli to take command." He sighs. "What a mess."
>>
>>24720990
Could we maybe ask for a specific replacement from HIS?
>>
>>24720990
Yes a very big mess. I think we are going to have start screening men and women who come into service very carefully, if the first mate of the Leviathan was involved who knows who else.
>>
>>24720990
"They did always tend to screw up their overcorrections. Still, this seems insanely poorly handled. Almost like they were just handing us a victory."
>>
>>24720990

One thing is clear, at least. Avery is an absolute boss.
>>
>>24720990
"Well, if you succeeded here, and I succeeded out there, it means we've probably been tricked. What've we forgotten?"
>>
>>24720990
"I think they may be capturing monsters for reinforcements. I found two dead sane lamia a few days back, surrounded by men with this." then show him the bounty list.
>>
>>24720990
"A fine mess indeed. Well good news army of Mer is going home and we got the leader in captive. I honestly have half a mind just to say sink this ship but that would just defeat the point of today. Your men need any help?"
>>
>>24721093
Yeah, show him the list.
>>
>>24721083
I don't think we ever doubted this at any point since we met him.
>>
>>24721105
Nope, I haven't. Guy is just 'Get shit done' mode 24/7. Love it.
>>
>>24721093
Yeah, he DOES need to know.

We should also check on the rest of our party if they're all not with us. That's the kind of shit Peace would pull.
>>
>>24721136
Check ENTIRE party now.
>>
(we need to head to Coral soonish. Trevor might just hand off the Mer to the next Citadel stooge.)
>>
>>24721224
(Perhaps we could delegate that issue? or at least send someone to pick up lightmare for us? I sort of want to stay here until Ava arrives.)
>>
>>24721224
Yes, that's very clear. Hopefully Isen will let us take his boat without some stringers attached to it. Should be big enough to get Lightmare on, right? Maybe...
>>
>>24721250
It will take her a few days to Stone Hall it's like a three day trip or more without a nightmare.
>>
>>24721258
Or we could take the Leviathan there...
>>
>>24721270
And what crew? Plus it was that ship that shelled the Coral Gate last time, remember? Nothing like some good PTSD.
>>
>>24721270
Actually considering the situation this might be entirely appropriate. If the Mer there ARE under siege from bounty hunters the Lev will be a GREAT way to convince them to flee.
>>
>>24721270
Probably wouldn't be well-received.

And I still say we need to check on our party. That's a worst-case scenario that I'd like to address.
>>
>>24721290
Hadn't even thought of that, but yes indeed. I'd love to shell the Dramatae.
>>
pity the leviathan is so large.

... I wonder how well lizardmen can sail a ship?
>>
>>24721311
My guess is not very. They probably have no training.
>>
>>24721095
"A fine mess indeed. Well good news army of Mer is going home and we got the leader in captive. I honestly have half a mind just to say sink this ship but that would just defeat the point of today. Your men need any help?" You ask.

Avery shakes his head. "I have my men, and I don't want them to get spooked on this hunt by seeing unfamiliar faces." He growls. "I have announced clearly that anyone who surrenders will be taken alive...but they know that it's high treason. Which means the rope or the axe after the trial...so most of them are making this difficult." He nods. "But we have control of the helm, and it isn't as if there's any place they can run to. It's just a matter of time before I flush out all the rats."

"Well, if you succeeded here, and I succeeded out there, it means we've probably been tricked. What've we forgotten?" You say.

"The Mer army's going straight back to Coral Gate." Tricia says. "Maybe that's not the best thing in the world."

"Hmm?" Avery says.

"I think they may be capturing monsters for reinforcements. I found two dead sane lamia a few days back, surrounded by men with this." You show him the bounty list.

Avery scowls. "Fuck. I need to send some letters then." He shakes his head. "This is bad. An army of Mer is bad, but even then they could only do so much damage. I'd hate to see minotaurs, or lamia, or...or anything march on the other cities." He shudders. "The only reason things were so calm here is because of the Leviathan and all the extra Red Occuli we still have present." He shakes his head. "The other cities are FAR under protected."

"Everything okay up there?" You hear Mage shout.

"Yeah!" Tricia shouts back. "How about down there?"

"Fine. The kid's crying again. Freaking Lea out a little." Mage says. "Dana says we could solve that problem by extracting his tear ducts or soaking his head in water. Either way we wont see his tears anymore."
>>
>>24720990
"Well, we'd better get cleaning then. Never can we just have a nice trip to a city."
>>
>>24721292
Actually, I'm a little more worried about Scheherazade. Something sits wrong about finding two little ones who weren't corrupted like that.

I hate it when I can't just enjoy nice things, but I can't shake the feeling that shit just isn't adding up somewhere.
>>
>>24721390
>"Fine. The kid's crying again. Freaking Lea out a little." Mage says. "Dana says we could solve that problem by extracting his tear ducts or soaking his head in water. Either way we wont see his tears anymore."

"Don't tempt me."

Show Adahn the first mate with the Passion mask.
>>
>>24721399
Yeah, we need to check on them after this, and Tricia needs to spend some time with Granny.
>>
>>24721390
"Both of which are equally true."

"Avery, I hate to leave so much to you, but I've got my own fires to put out. Oh, and you mentioned a new Blue Occuli? I'd like to be involved in that decision. I'm sure both you and Her Illuminated Self will understand why."

"Now, I think I'd better go talk Lea down."
>>
>>24721390
"Well then Avery, it seems we all have our missions fairly laid out, for once. Wish you and your men luck."

First thing is first head down to see Lea and why she's freaking out, even a little.

After that. I hate you >>24721399 but yeah we need to check this.
>>
>>24721411
"Don't tempt me." You say. "Make him come up here. I want to show him something."

After a bit the entire group, save Dana who's rather be with the boat, are on the deck. You push the Boy to the ground so he can look face to 'face' with the dead Passion. He lets out a gasp/moan of horror and shakes his head. "No, no...that's...this isn't right...oh God it smells..."

"Sorry about that." Avery says. "Dwarves tend to aim for the guts, ruptures the large intestine and you pull a shit covered blade away instead of blood. Depending on how much they've ben eating. This one liked to eat a lot apparently."

The boy goes into dry heaves. "Why?" He gasps as he looks up at you.
>>
>>24721390
Make sure Avery has a copy of the list from Balles, and make sure the replacement captain is on the list.
>>
>>24721472
"Look at the mask, Adahn. This was the first mate. Your puppetmasters were playing both sides.

I got a preview of the next chapter from some of the Dramatae's minions at the Bear Shrine. It didn't have a happy ending for you; you were the Fallen Lightbringer, and they're picking out a couple of new Lightbringers to go up against you. Probably destroying their hometowns as we speak."
>>
>>24721472
"You needed some evidence that you had been played other than taking my word for it. Are the masks familiar, then?"
>>
>>24721472
"Because you needed to see the truth. This is what happens when you kill someone, or when someone does it to you. This is how the path the Dramatae had you on would have ended: for you and for far too many kids like you."

"Remember the smell, boy."
>>
>>24721472
"This is one works for same people that promised you so much. He, along with many people like him, took over this ship in attempt to make your little story go easier for you. You little attack and shelling of Stone Hall go smoothly for you.

You. Were. Being. Played."
>>
>>24721513
>"This is one
>"This one
Now I'm adding words where they don't need to be. Great.
>>
I hope we get back to granny and have a nice meal before threadend.
>>
>>24721502
"You needed some evidence that you had been played other than taking my word for it. Are the masks familiar, then?"

"Remember the smell, boy."

The boy is now officially broken. He's trying to put his arms over his head and curl up into a small ball. Anything to get himself away from what is happening right now.

Avery shakes his head. "This was the leader of the Mer army?"

"No." Isen says. "No, this is just a sad little boy who's been toyed with for far too long. The leader was a man in an obsidian mask. Paladin Ssen killed him. This was just one of his servants." He sighs. "Maybe there's hope for him."

"Mmh." Avery grunts. He looks up. "Wonderful, what now?" He asks as a raven lands on the deck, a message attacked to his claw. "This is from the Manor." He unrolls it and reads. He looks skywards and sighs. "Paladin Ssen?" He asks. "I think I know what we were missing."

He turns and hands you the scroll. "Apparently the Fey Court just sacked First Wood, along with some smaller towns in the area. They reportedly had monsters supporting them...and Lord Paladin Julian Graves has been captured."
>>
>>24721600
>He turns and hands you the scroll. "Apparently the Fey Court just sacked First Wood, along with some smaller towns in the area. They reportedly had monsters supporting them...and Lord Paladin Julian Graves has been captured."

No words. Just pick up the Passion mask and start grinding it into a powder.
>>
>>24721600
Guess we now know why Robin bugged out. Apparently the Dramatae pulled the Thistleblossom card.
>>
>>24721600
How far out of the way is lightmare?

"Those ingenious bastards. Of -course- I can't be in two places at once."

"Any idea how long it would take us to get there by cart? We would probably save time by retrieving our horse."

Godaaaaaaaaaamnit

We're never gonna get a breather are we
I bet we're already in endgame
>>
>>24721600
And on that note, I am calling it for a night. The next thread will be on Sunday, May 12th, I don't have great specifics on time for that day, but it will be after noon at least. I thank you all for coming, have a wonderful week and may His Light Be With You.
>>
>>24721600
Oh thats perfect, they made a two prong attack. One here, one in First Wood. Two Bringers of Darkness. If we defeated one the other would succeed anyway. And iether one could easily lead to a LIght Bringer rising.

I need to make sure they don't add the Mer to that army, so I'm headed to Coral. Then its time to take the battle to them.

And then its time to prepare for our own attack.
>>
>>24721600
Can we, I don't know, pound our had into a wall for minute or two.

Well, I'm betting this explains where Robin went...
>>
>>24721669
Damn, I was hoping we'd all sit down for a nice snake family dinner before the threadend. Oh well, see you on sunday echo, thanks for the marvelous questing.
>>
>>24721669
Thank you as well, Echo, for two excellent threads this evening. You're a machine to run threads this long and still keep them this awesome.
>>
>>24721669
Ah, night man. Thanks for the threas.

Going to bed.
>>
>>24721669
I did not see that last one coming Echo, this was another excellent thread, Goodnight and we will see you Sunday.
>>
>>24721669
Thanks so much for running the quest Echo! It usually starts around midnight my time so I rarely get to contribute much, but I still love following it.
>>
>>24721695
we're basically in the end game right now. We're planning on killing Comedy soonish.
>>
>>24721693
Remember when "wandering around selling pelts to those who would buy them" was an option to that didn't doom the entire world to eternal stagnation?
>>
>>24721669
good night echo, see you sunday... have a good rest.
>>
>>24721673
Given a choice, I'll sacrifice Stone Hall, because Stone Hall will probably survive the worst of things rather well.

That said, it sucks, they need help. Lets get out there, help with the wounded an injured, and lead a diplomatic expedition to the Fey Court. We did say we'd meet with the queen. It'll also be a great time to
>>
>>24721699
We should have known with the way Robin just went Puff on us and the way Peace was wanting Comedy to stay alive.
>>
>>24721695
Yes. When we kill the dramatae and free citadel.

I really, really hope echo lets us play epilogue rebuilding for a while. With many more timeskips.
>>
>>24721715
Everything we built is in Stone Hall.

Also I seriously doubt a diplomatic envoy is going to work unless the magic making them into a Bringer of Darkness is seriously weakened... say by another Dramatae dying.
>>
>>24721715
>I'll sacrifice Stone Hall
Yes, brilliant. Weaken our one true stronghold. Sorry, but on strategic level Stone Hall is for too important to 'sacrifice' on any level.
>>
You know, I have to admire the persistence of the dramatae.

"Okay, she's foiled every plan we've had. but can she foil TWO plans?"
>>
>>24721749
Meant to say First Wood, I've been screwing up like that for the last 30 minutes. Need sleep, like Echo.
>>
Know what I just realized?

Isen gave us the credit for killing the man leading the attack. Just now.
>>
>>24721786
Well we did kill that man. Adahn is no more.
>>
(Until it turns out every Light Bringers is named Adahn and Ava.)
>>
>>24721795
see, metaphorically sure whatever.

But I mean the public image went from "Paladin brings shaper of darkness in alive and doesn't have the guts to end things"

to

"Paladin stabbed the villain, and brought in several captives to boot."

It's much better press.
>>
>>24721786
Because Isen isn't a cunt.
>>
You guys notice that the Anticitadel Alliance now hold the East Coast of the continent. If we go to all out war We might be playing a risk style battle.
>>
He wasn't really a shaper of darkness. He had no power of his own what so ever.
>>
>>24721816
Actually, based on a note we found left by our Father, supposedly if we 'free' all of Citadel, and then do what needs to be done in the Heart of the Citadel, we wont need to fight.

>>24721818
If you think about it, all of the Shapers were puppets of the Dramatae anyways. They had to tone down Mage's dad, so I don't think granting power is a huge problem for them.
>>
>>24721840
>>24721818
Doesn't matter if he was or wasn't a shaper of darkness, we still are technical heroes today. I think. We need as many "heroes" publicity moments as we can, to cancel out the "they pointed out our economy was terrible" publicity.
>>
>>24721840
>Actually, based on a note we found left by our Father, supposedly if we 'free' all of Citadel, and then do what needs to be done in the Heart of the Citadel, we wont need to fight.

You're not taking one thing into account. Free will. There is going to be a power vacuum when Citadel is gone. There most likely will be a fight for the throne. Who knows how many Cities may just declare independence from the Citadel Kingdom. There will be a fight somewhere in some from. It just might not be what we're thinking of as in Citadel vs Anti-Citadel.
>>
>>24721894
you know what? If battle breaks out alone lines that aren't "pro citadel"/"anti-citadel", then that will at least be a refreshingly different problem.
>>
>>24721906
Yes. But it's foolish to believe we wont be needing to fight is all I'm saying. Plus I can imagine it going something like this.

>I know I shouldn't be happy about this. Two City-states fighting each other and all but this something new! This is great!
>>
>>24721894
Well, they wont be able to rely on Citadel's bounty, so constant war wont be around. Raiding will happen, but with a strong backing from various city-states, and plenty of trade, I think raiding will be minimal.
>>
>>24721930
yeah, that's pretty much how it would go. Sad it's happening, but excited as hell anything but normal is happening. I wonder if we'll do a medieval war section, or if we'll be able to stem it with diplomacy?

>>24721945
Hopefully. After everything settles.
>>
So, do you think we'll have time to tell the lamiakids some war stories before we go?
>>
>>24721993
Probably, although I'd love to be able to talk to Mage about how he's working in the Valve model now, and if he has any cool ideas on what he wants to do.
>>
>>24722020
It'll be nice to take a meal and tell some stories. I really wish we were better at laying low, back when that mattered. We could have had far more time off back in those days.

And yeah, mage is in no hurry on any of this shit. We need to tell him so.
>>
>>24722055
Honestly, I think we'll have a bit of time due to a lack of Lightmare/Vassat. And yeah, we REALLY need a break, need to contact Robin if possible.
>>
>>24722077
I still don't know how we should go about recovering lightmare. Go ourselves? Send someone to do it in our stead? Go by boat to retrieve it?
>>
>>24722100
We'll probably travel by land, unless we can transport land animals & wagons by boat.
>>
>>24722166
Yeah, fair enough. I don't want to leave you hanging, but I'm gonna probably be hitting the hay here.

I'll leave you with the thought I take with me to sleep:

Lamias never were very good at naming things, it appears. Never at all.
