>And good news, I'm not dead!

Your name is Heather Leery, and you are a nagala.
A biokinetically modified nagala, with various... male parts, despite the fact that nagala are asexual.
Theta was chuckling at you quietly, having been the one that had given you that form, while you quickly retracted your tongues and closed your tail up, blushing, embarrassed- you felt your skin tweak greenish red, and tried to force it back to its neutral grey.
Nobody else seemed to notice the... addition among your tongues.

Also in the room was Serpensal and Omnissiah, Anna, Summer and her manifestation, Damien, Theta, and Sarvesh.
"You know, it's kind of funny how we all end up hanging out here." Damien said. "Anyway, you guys going to hydroponics to lick the dirt or whatever?"
"I think so." Jilly said.
You tried to talk, but remembered you didn't have a mouth at the last second- you'd need to use telepathy, or give someone a hug in order to talk.
>>
Rolled 38

I think... now would be a good time to go invisible.

When that fails sure, lets head to hydroponics
>>
>>24747724

we should really practice some more, get a brainwave scanner from the scientists and then head over to hydroponics to lick the floor and use TK to float water around and making it artificially rain.
>>
>>24747724
lets go to hydrophonics, we NEED to know what dirt tastes like.
>>
>>24747724

<I'm, uh, gonna go taste the floor in hydroponics anyone wanna come?>
>>
>>24747724
<Hydropondrics! Dirt tastings away!>
while on the way there, check up on Bob.
>>
>>24747724
>you quickly retracted your tongues and closed your tail up, blushing, embarrassed
No, you fool! Do not show weakness to the Theta. We have so far evaded the teasing he does to everyone else but if we show an opening he will pounce on it mercilessly. Everything is just fine. There's nothing wrong with people seeing your dick. Yep.
>>
>>24747724
<That's the plan, anyone who wants to come watch me eat dirt is welcome!>
>>
<I'm, uh, gonna go taste the floor in hydroponics. Anyone wanna come?>
"I'll come." Jilly said. "Hydroponics always tastes good."
"I'll come too!" Summer said. "Because Kailynn would get really angry at me if I got away from you after she told us to stick together.
"Alright! See you later." Damien said, and waved you off.
Anna, Damien, and Theta waved and made their way to the cafeteria, while Serpensal and Omnissiah stayed in the workshop.

You tried to walk forward- and slipped, falling to the ground. Jilly pulled you to your feet.
"Summer, help me hold her up while she learns to slither."
"Alright!" She said.

Both of them held you up, as Jilly talked you through slithering side to side, teaching you how to angle your teeth just right to make things easier. It was almost as if the individual teeth were legless feet, letting you propel yourself forward.
Eventually, you reached the ladder.
The Ladder.
You're not sure how nagala can even climb ladders, let alone centaurs.

And then Jilly hit a switch on the panel, and a small hatch opened, with a lift on the inside, large enough for a centaur or nagala.
"In here." She said. "Easier than TK, after all."
>>
>>24748006
"I didn't know we had lifts."
>>
>>24748006

"I should use TK anyway, i've been slacking..."
>>
>>24748006
<Huh, I never even knew about that.>

By the way, have we checked in on Bob today? If not, do so, make sure he's recovering okay after his battle with the Void Queen.
>>
"I didn't know we had lifts."
"The station design was for humans at first." Jilly said, curling up on the lift. You piled in, and Summer tried cramming her way in, making the lift cramped and uncomfortable. "They had to add the lifts afterward. That's why it's probably not on most of the maps. Max showed us all the modified parts on our first day here."

After the lift... lifted, the hatch opened and you saw the great blue sun up above, and the green grass and plants throughout the chamber.

While the three of you made your way out, and while Winter- Summer's manifestation- made her way up the ladder, you sat down, and looked at the patches on the door where they had been repairing the damage made to the airlocks.
The Devourer- who you had almost nicknamed Bob- had torn that door open to devour your friends, before you telepathically gave him empathy.
And right now, he was floating in space, unconscious.
You should probably check up on him...

You close your eyes- both sets- and focus...

>Roll! Taking only first three as always, and I've changed the crit rules- you can only crit in the first six rolls.

Hopefully the 69 will be enough, I mean this level of telepathy shouldn't exactly be difficult for Heather by this stage.
>>
>>24748246

probably won't get anything substantial, but at least it's not below 50.
>>
>>24748246
>>24748274
We don't even usually have to roll for Devourer link. The roll is probably for him and how well he's doing.
>>
Taking slow, deep breaths with your tail, you try to reach out to the Devourer...
And you couldn't find anything. You knew he was somewhere around this abandoned, atmosphereless planet... But so was another dozen asteroids circling the planet. You couldn't pick him out of the rest. You could still... feel him, somewhere there, breathing. Slumbering.
"Heather?" Summer asked, and she nudged you. You opened your eyes again.
"Ohh, you were doing something." She said. "Sorry about that! Hope I didn't screw anything up."

"This is really good." Jilly said. "Want me to teach you how to eat?"
You nodded, and she started to teach.

Carefully, you split your teeth again with a grinding click, and you stuck out your tongues and started to muss up the dirt below you, scraping it up with the rough sides of your tongues and holding them into the 'roof' of your mouth. Nagala tongues were weird- you could only taste with the inside of the mouth and the soft sides, while the rough ones didn't have any sense of taste, only feel. The tongues did most of the job themselves, being controlled subconsciously, but you made certain to keep the ... extra tongue coiled up and out of the way. The dirt was delicious- earthy, brown, slightly damp. You tasted a bit of worm and manure there, and it somehow enhanced the taste.

"It's delicious, isn't it?" Jilly asked.
>>
>>24748294
Or if we actually get anything, because he's hibernating.
>>
>>24748307
<It is! I can see why you like this place so much.>

<...I'm trying not to think too hard about what I'm actually eating right now though, from a human viewpoint.>
>>
>>24748307
"It really is! I'm surprised how it can taste that good ."
>>
>>24748307

"I can taste the fertilizer, I never would have thought it but it tastes... good, albeit a bit strange."
>>
<It is! I can see why you like this place so much.> You say.
<Now you can lick your own teeth. Scrape them with the rough ends of your tongues, and coil them into themselves.>
You continue to eat, though it was much, much more slowly than a human ate. You had to scoop up small amounts of dirt, lick them for a time, hold them in your mouth, and mix it up with everything else.

"Is this why you're late to class every day?" Summer asked.
"This and because I sleep late." Jilly said.

<I'm trying not to think too hard about what I'm actually eating right now though, from a human viewpoint.>
"That makes sense." Jilly said. "A lot of people are disgusted by this sort of thing. There are better things in the cafeteria, but those aren't as... natural. As earthy."
>>
>>24748477

"at least I get to experience it from your perspective, that's good to know."

"anything other than dairy, that i shouldn't eat?"
>>
>>24748477
"It really takes a long time to eat."
>>

>>
"It really takes a long time to eat."
"Yep." Jilly said. "This is prime socializing time, though." She said.
"Anything other than dairy that I shouldn't eat?"
"Solids. Particles and liquids are fine, and sand is really good for your tongue and teeth, but you can't chew or anything." Jilly said.
"At least I get to experience it from your perspective. That's good to know. Can you explain some more about that name you used earlier, Jilly?"
"Yeah. We don't have sounds for language, so instead we use frequencies. I guess the frequency I gave you didn't translate prop-" Jilly said, and paused.
Summer paused.

You felt... something, on the station.
Something grow cold, empty... And then vanish, becoming a blind spot.
"Alex is training, it looks." Jilly said, quietly.
>>
>>24748575
<I guess so, still kind of freaks me out when he does that.>
>>
>>24748575
"We should go find him. I want to see if those manifested tech parts will stay when he's got his hatred-field on."
>>
>>24748575

blink
<I mean his skill.>
>>
>>24748575

"y-yeah, It's not very subtle is it?"
>>
>>24748575
<That reminds me, I've got to go talk to him later. I think I'll wait until he's not all pariah-y though.>
>>
>>24748597
It's not a hatred field, it's an anti-fun field.
>>
<I guess so, still kind of freaks me out when he does that.> You say.
Or try to, at least. That cold feeling drained away your signal, and Jilly didn't seem to hear you. You touch her, and repeat that electrically, and she nodded.
[It does me too.] She said.
[That Pariah is really something.] You say, and shake yourself. [I mean his skill.]
[Maybe we should go talk to him.]
"Hey, Summer, let's-" Jilly said.

Summer was quiet.
She swayed, slightly, as did her manifestation.
Neither of them blinked.
That same something around you grew colder, ever colder, trying to claim the warmth of your mind, damping your thoughts, suppressing them.
Until Jilly shocked you with something, and your mind was hot again- she did the same to Summer, and she shook, shivering.
"What was that?" Summer asked.
>>
>>24748647
"Are you okay? You kinda...zoned out for a second."
>>
>>24748647
[Did Alex do that?]
>>
>>24748647
[Pretty sure it's 'cause Prometheus is messing around with his Pariah.] grumble mumble
>>
>>24748647

"Jilly, what happened just now?"
>>
>>24748647
"We should go talk to Alex. That was not at all a pleasant experience."
>>
[Are you okay? You kinda... zoned out for a second.]
She meowed, and your telepathy refused to translate it as normal.
"Y-yeah." Her manifestation said. "I kind of zoned out for a bit there. But nobody can hear me when I talk. This is really weird."
"It is." Jilly said.
[Jilly, what happened just now?]
"He's stopping you guys from... thinking, I guess." She said. "It's not hard for me to ignore, but Summer was entirely gone, and you were close to going."
[We should go talk to Alex.] You say. [This was not at all a pleasant experience.]
"Yes, let's." Jilly said.

The three of you made your way out of hydroponics, and toward the manifestation room where the blind spot was.

Strangest of all... the marines stood there, dazed, and so was Robin, cat ears sagging as her tail waved. She swayed here and there, completely mindless. You waved a hand in front of her, and she didn't seem to notice.
"... This is really freaky." Summer said.
"Let's just go get him to stop." Jilly said.

Up in the manifestation room, you saw all the technicians- dozens of them- frozen there, perfectly still, swaying. That... *thing* was standing there, levitating just slightly off of the ground. He was but a silhouette, a perfect blind spot, sapping everything.

Jilly went up and gave that *thing* a kiss, and suddenly, the technicians returned to themselves. Alex's feet hit the ground.
"Sup." Alex said.
"Hey." Jilly responded.
They were both silent for a few moments.
"That was freaky!" Summer said.
>>
>>24748770
"You kind of froze everyone, Alex."
>>
>>24748770
"Alex, can you try not to suppress the wills of everyone on the station in future, it's kind of creepy."
>>
>>24748770

"everyone was just staring off in to the distance."
>>
>>24748805
Yeah
>>
>>24748770

we should try not to chastise him for doing it, it's not his fault, we don't want to plant any bitterness in his heart.
>>
<Alex, can you try not to suppress the wills of everyone on the station in the future? It's kind of creepy.>
He didn't seem to hear you, so Summer had her manifestation repeat it.

Max came out of the technician room. "Did all of you learn teleportation?"
Jilly shook her head.
"You lost all perception for a time." Jilly responded. "And it only came back just now."
Max took a look at his uplift interface's clock. Then cussed.
"You're right. I need to check the footage." He said, and continued looking at the interface. "Alright... Why did Jilly and... is that heather?"
You nod.
"... You two, Sigma, and Omnissiah are the only ones on the station who didn't get ... pariahed. Why is that?"
"I didn't either." Alex said. "Wait, the entire station?!"
"The entire station." Max said.
"Telepathy." Jilly said. "That's my specialization, and you guys say that technopathy is telepathic in nature. That could be it."
>>
>>24748944
"Maybe. Omni's an AI, though. Sigma is pretty much a machine. Maybe because I was a Nagala?"
>>
>>24748944

"I was starting to drift off but Jilly shook me out of it."

"... I have no mouth to hold a conversation with!"
>>
>>24748944
"Not what you were aiming for, Alex?"
>>
<Maybe.> You say, and winter spoke as well. <I was starting to drift off, but Jilly shook me out of it.>
"But you still held on." Max said. "I didn't even notice anything and then I was... gone, I guess."
<Not what you were aiming for, Alex?>
"They just wanted me to do what felt right." Alex said.
"The footage shows you floating. It looks like TK." Max said.
"I think I kind of... stopped gravity a little, too. I'm not sure." Alex said.
"... Alright. You think you can do that again?"
"Again?" Jilly asked. "What about class?"
"This is too interesting for class." Max said. "You ready, Alex?"
>>
>>24749049
"It is pretty interesting to be honest."
>>
>>24748944
"Well, Omni is a machine, Sigma thinks like a machine, Jilly is super good at telepathy, and I... dunno about me. I guess technopathy, but I can't be sure."
>>
>>24749049
"Prepare your butts."
>>
>>24749049
>I think I kind of... stopped gravity a little, too. I'm not sure.
But there is no gravity. It's just the station spinning.

>>

gravity was still in effect, just not for him.
>>
>>24749049
<Anyone doing anything dangerous or time sensitive might want to take a brake while Alex practices his pariah thing.>
>>
>>24749119
So he stopped centrifugal force in a localised area?

Though if that happened he would have just slammed into a wall, I think.
>>
>>24749099
That makes no sense.
>>
<It is pretty interesting, to be honest.> You say.
"Alright, let's try this again." Alex said.
"Everyone over here." Max said, and the group made their way over. "Any time, Alex."
"Alright..."

He closed his eyes- and you prepared yourself mentally.
<Anyone doing anything dangerous, or time sensitive, might want to take a break while Alex practices his pariah thing.> You broadcast, and get a half dozen 'okays' and another half dozen 'what's. Before you could respond, though... Space itself shattered, perception stretching away from him, your mind rebelling against the idea of existing itself. Carefully, ever so carefully, you opened your eyes again. Jilly was there, weaving her fingers back and forth, still aware, but Summer, Winter, and Max were still, swaying.
There was another shatter, and then Pariah was floating slightly off of the ground. Two long, gangly legs, and two arms, both weapons made for killing.
Pariah, with hunters' eyes, turned to you, and bared its teeth at you- ones you had seen tear through flesh, twisting and gnashing madly.
"... I think he's trying to reassure us with a smile." Jilly said, absentmindedly.
>>
>>24749158
[It is not reassuring.]
>>
>>24749158
"I'd really rather he didn't. That is utterly terrifying."
>>
>>24749158
<One would hope so.>
>>
>>24749158

>>
>>24749158

take her hand and give it a squeeze

[y-yeah, That's probably it, you okay?]

give Alex/Pariah a small wave back.
>>
>>24749158
<AFTER HE IS DONE LETS TELL HIM TO KEEP A NEUTRAL FACE AT ALL TIMES>
>>
[Y-yeah, that's probably it.] You say, squeezing Jilly's hand. [You okay?]
[It's harder than it was.] Jilly said. [He's... freezing.]
You knew what that was. That chill suffused your mind, constant, unending.

There was a rending noise, and the floor below Pariah blackened, zig-zagging lines of polycarbon steel rusting and turning black, rending itself- and he stopped it quickly, becoming Alex again. He landed on his feet, and it screeched, his feet starting to punch through the ground. Quickly, he made his way to another area- and everyone looked down at the blackened circle of the ground, zigzags of rust shooting off of all edges.

You didn't even know polycarbon could rust.
"... That's not good." Alex said.
"What's not -" Summer asked, and looked down. "... No. That's not good."
"Alright, we're looking at a possible hull breach situation." Max said. "Everyone out, get the engineers in here."
The technicians, your companions, and Alex made their way out of the room, Alex stretching and yawning. "That's pretty exhausting." He said. "It's not even close to using my shield, like that time with Anna. It's almost more like... Like being a lighthouse. Or a beacon."
>>
even psions have natural predators, really fuckin' scary ones at that.

I don't like it, we know Alex is a good guy but it's like every fiber of our being is urging us to get away.
>>
>>24749234
"A beacon for what, though?"
>>
>>24749234
"Alex, never smile while you do that..."
>>
>>24749234
"What happens to manifested items in your shield range, Alex? I made a bunch of screws and stuff. If you ever need to power up, I don't want half my stuff falling apart."
>>
>>24749234
"Or a black hole sucking away everything that is good."
>>
>>24749234

we should try taking a picture of Alex when he's all pariah, see if it's our mind painting him as an obvious threat, or if it's really there.

talk to Alex through Einstein.

"It feels like a beacon, but for what?"
>>
"A beacon for what, though?" You ask, through einstein.
"I'm not sure." He responded. "A beacon for... being me, I guess."
"Alex, never smile when you do that."
"It didn't help, did it?"
"Not even a little bit." Jilly said.
"What happens to manifested items in your shield range, Alex? I made a bunch of screws and stuff. If you ever need to power up, I don't want half my stuff falling apart."
"No clue. Lemme put my big shield up, and we'll see what happens to Summer's manifestation. If you're fine with that, summer."
"Yeah, that's fine."
Alex focused, and became not a person again. Not as directly malevolent as before, but almost like... a doll, made of flesh and bone.

Nothing happened to Winter, and she simple looked around.

"Nope, nothing." Alex said, as he became himself again. "Seems I only demanifest things when I touch them."
"Which is annoying." Summer said.

You look back through Einstein's logs to see what he looked like while pariah... and he looked normal. Levitating, of course, but he was giving you and Jilly a dashing, charismatic grin. Completely the opposite of what you remember seeing.
>>
>>24749310

>>
>>24749310

"at least you look quite dashing on film."
>>
>>24749310

>>
>>24749310
"I got your message by the way! I'm fine with doing whatever."
>>
>>24749310
"That is really weird. When I looked at you while you were doing it, it was like you were some sort of... avatar of destruction, of non-existence. Maybe I could try showing you?"
>>
"I can try telepathing the experience if you want."
"Alright." He said.

First things first- you show Jilly the footage, and then Alex lowered his shield. You focus... and then look back through Perfect Recall.

>Space itself shattered, perception stretching away from him, your mind rebelling against the idea of existing itself. Carefully, ever so carefully, you opened your eyes again. Jilly was there, weaving her fingers back and forth, still aware, but Summer, Winter, and Max were still, swaying.

"... Oh dear." Alex said. "Is that really what I'm like?"
Jilly nodded, quietly. She almost pouted at him.
"I got your message by the way! I'm fine with doing whatever."
"Awesome. Let's go get Ellie. Something after class, I guess?" Alex asked.
>>
>>24749402
"Yep! I should probably get Theta to turn me back as well. The no-mouth makes it hard to talk."

"may i suggest you spend some time with Jilly before we hang out?"

optional: "maybe it's also best if i turn back to human, i miss ice-cream."

[Yeah, though I need to get Theta to turn me back first, being a Nagala was fun, but not being able to talk is kind of awkward.]
>>
>>24749310
Those certainly don't look like gnashing teeth.

Do you think this trick will work on demourg or the scythe beasts?
>>
How about an hour after class? I want to get at least a little practice myself in and Theta said he'd help in case I set myself on fire again.
>>
>>24749534
An hour after seems good.

"Gotta do the invisibility practice before I head out."
>>
"Yeah, though I need to get Theta to turn me back first. Being a Nagala was fun, but not being able to talk is kind of awkward." You say, still through Einstein. "And I suggest you spend some time with Jilly."
"Alright." He said, and shot Jilly a smile. "I'll call you after class."
"How about an hour after class? I want to get a little practice in."
"Alright." He said.

You and Summer leave the manifestation room, and continue down the hall.
"That was really weird, earlier." Summer said. "With the way that all rotted. That can't be good."

The two of you almost ran into Robin and Theta, robin still all catlike, and she eeped, vanishing on the spot, cheeks bright red. Theta chuckled.
"Hey, you two." He said. "What's up?"
>>
>>24749591
"Just talking with Alex. He made everyone freeze for a whole minute. Did you notice?"
>>
>>24749591

>>24749591

"if it's not to much trouble, I'd like to be human again, without any changes."
>>
>>24749591
"Can you humanate me? Not talking is a bit awkward."
>>
>>24749591
"Alex crushed the will of the entire station, that was kind of weird. So can you turn me back to a human now, talking is kind of weird, and I don't want to accidentally flash half the people I know again."
>>
"Just talking with Alex." Einstein said. "It was interesting. Did you notice anything?"
"Nope." He said. "I didn't notice a thing."
"If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to be human again, without any changes."
"Without any changes?" He asked. "You certain about that? I could change you in a lot of cool ways. Give you a second cardiac system, or change your skin tone, Slam your senses up to eleven..."
He grinned. "You haven't even tested out all of your nagala parts yet, have you?"
You go red- and then you feel him tug at something on your back. Your wings slam open, all four of those strange shells flipping open, and your wings started twittering quickly. They didn't do anything, but they were rather strange to feel.
>>
>>24749591
Robin is so cute, can we keep her?
>>
>>24749679
"Woah, I'd forgotten those were even there."

"I wonder if Robin's going to be avoiding me for long, for all the perving she does, she'd adorably shy when you turn the tables."

.... can I keep the wings?
>>
>>24749679
"But it's not like I can actually fly!"
>>
>>24749679

"I'm certain, I want to spend some time with Alex like we used to."
>>

I hate to be the voice of doom but i just realized something exabyte like to put characters in that we trust and then they stab us in the back. we need to be ready for it this time.

if you need examples we have Sigma from when he stole all our space tech and lead us into a trap, or Omega when he framed us for one twins death and then sicced the other on us, Vanko the dragon, or Gareth who was so friendly. these are just some of the big guns, im not even mentioning the ones who were trick, blackmailed, or mind-controlled. i don't have my suspensions about who it is yet, but if exabyte goes for par it won't be long.

"Woah, I'd forgotten those were even there." You say, still using Einstein.
"Yeah, I know." He said. The strange, vestigial dragonfly wings on your back continued to flutter fruitlessly.
"But it's not like I can actually fly!" You say.
"You could if you used telekinesis to counteract the force pushing you down." He said.
"And yes, I'm certain. I want to spend some time with Alex like we used to."
"Fine, fine." He said. "How old were you when the three of you spent time together?"
"Don't answer that." Summer said. "You're *not* regressing her age to however old she was."
"... Fine, fine." He responded. "I'll get you one of these days, manifestress."
"One day..." Summer said. "But not today!"

Your body twisted again, and then you were standing on your feet, human once again. You reclasped your bra, which had fallen mostly off when you went nagala, and made sure your clothing all fit right.
And then you realized that you had no pants. Summer tossed you your old pair, and didn't look as you put it all on.
"... I seem to be on Robin's temporary avoidance list, even though the two of you were the ones thinking up catnip in the first place! Has she always had trouble with getting as good as she gives?"

<Okay!> She said.

"Problem solved. Robin knows what happened. Don't suppose I could borrow you for practice for a bit, so I don't have a repeat of last time?"
"It is almost class." He said. "We could do it after. Or completely skip it."
"I'd prefer if we didn't. Kailynn gets angry at me." Summer said.
If you hadn't seen the green-haired doctor angry before, you'd never believe that the bubbly woman *could* get angry. But when she did... she was almost as scary as Pariah was.

Everyone, save ellie, was in class, Lin paying much, much too much attention to the professor as everyone sat. He almost acted like Alex did, before Alex learned that his grades didn't quite matter. He scratched out what he could, and scribbled out lists that you read 'things to read'.

Right after class, after Manus let you go, Theta and Summer made their ways over to you- just as Ellie tackled you.
"Sup!" She said. "It was *so boring* while you guys were trapped in there."

i just thought of something, we are suppose to watch over Summer but Alex wants us to hang out.

"Of course I would!" She said. "Just like the good old days!"
"And want to watch me try to turn invisible?"
"Yesss."
"Alright!" Summer said. "Come on."

You, Theta, Summer, and Ellie were in the telekinesis room, the great array taken down for repairs after Isaac had his way with it.
"Alright, everything looks good." Theta said. "Go ahead and try. If something goes wrong, I'll do my best to fix you."
"Wait, are you the one that does all the like, transformation stuff?" Ellie asked.
"I can." Theta said, neutrally. "I can do a lot more than that, but everyone only cares about the transformation."
"Turn me into something!"
"... Why?"
Ellie pouted at him.
"Alright, lemme think of something."
>>
>>24750672

<Make it a huge change.> you say. <Ellie's always been happy being Ellie, so small changes won't be well recieved.>
<Hmm... I'll figure it out.> He said.
"Pfft, don't act as if you don't enjoy transforming people." You say.
"... Good point." He said, and raised his hands.
Ellie twitched, and leaned forward... and then twisted, her bones twisting and changing slightly, and then she was tall... with grey, mottled skin, no eyes or face, and great, strange wing-limbs that weren't quite wings sticking out of her back.
He'd changed her into a Valk.

<What.> Ellie said, as her face pulsed. <What the hell? I can see like... everything. Is my face glowing?>
"Yep!" Summer said.

You start to think. You could try to sense the light first, to bend it, or you could focus it into a laser pointer, or just try to plain bend it around yourself to become invisible.
>>
>>24750933
Let's start by sensing the light first so we know what exactly we're trying to bend.
>>
>>24750933
Start simple. Make a mirror in mid air, reflecting all the light in a simple plane.

Then we can get to refraction.
>>
>>24750933
Sense light first, we saw what happened yesterday when we tried to rush straight into things, let's take it slow.
>>
>>24750933
What if we tried to let the light move through us without reflecting, rather than moving the light around us?
>>
>>24750933
>He'd changed her into a Valk.
...How? He's never even seen one in person, how does he know how Valks work?

Also sense the light first and try not to set anything on fire with it.
>>
>>24750933

sense light first, we can try dimming the lights in the room as well if it's to intense.
>>
>>24751000

our first contact was live broadcast, everyone saw it.
>>
>>24750933

>>
>>24750985
Then that wouldn't be TK which we are amazing at but Lin's phasing thing which we have no experience with at all.

>>24751017
Yeah, he knows what they look like, but he hasn't done his biokinesis thing. He doesn't know the structure of their organs or that they can 'see everything' or anything beyond the superficial.
>>
>>24751054
How does Theta somehow 'know' what Heather would look like as a male Centaur, but apparently he does.

Psionics run on some heavy-duty bullshit.
>>
>>24750933
Bend the light, focus it into a beam.
>>
>>24751054
Yeah, but we can get to Lin's phasing thing from the other side. I don't think it would be hard. X-rays and Radio Waves go right through us anyway, it's just about convincing visible light to do the same.
>>
>>24751054

if he is able to do it just by watching videos, that would explain everything.
>>
>>24751080
>but apparently he does
By touching her and using his biokinesis senses which he hasn't done to the Valk which is the whole point I am making.
>>
>>24751054
Maybe he can just inherently understand a lifeform based on seeing it.
>>
>>24751080
>He didn't know how Heather would look. He made it up.

"How?" You ask. "You've never seen one in person. And how do you know how Valks work?"
"Genetic data on Serpensal." Theta said. "Skin flakes. Had everything I needed."

You close your eyes, and focus.
Light... was a force, resonating through the ship, from the lights, electrical power converted into light and heat. It reflected off of the room, off of everything...
And you realized, quite suddenly, that eyes were sub-par for sensing light. They only saw slivers, small parts of the entire wavelength. Even the centaur were blind to all the things they couldn't see.
But here, right now, even in this small, simply lit room... it was an ocean of constantly twisting eddies of light, bouncing and reflecting against itself and everything, growing dimmer.
For a moment, you're not sure you can even bend it, let alone anything more.

Regardless, you raise your arms, and try to create a mirror...

>Roll photokinesis!

"To make a mirror! The simplest optical device you can make. Oh! Maybe if I just focus visible light instead of all the wavelengths!"
"... Wait, wait." Keen said. "You worked on all light?" He asked. "Like... the entire electromagnetic spectrum?"
You nod.
"Well, of course that'd be difficult." He said, "Yeah, I recommend you try only the visible ones. Maybe UV as well."
>>
>>24751442

"Ooh, that looks scary." Feed her some rations.

Let's try again~! Visible/IR/UV mirror go!

"I should really learn electrokinesis. I could just carry a battery pack around and never be tired."
>>
"Hah, I probably should have mentioned that! The Valk have some kind of strange biology." You say, as Theta cackled. "It's interesting, but looks like it'd be hard to get used to."

Then you shove a biscuit in her chest.
<Aaaaaa- hey, this is actually pretty good.> she said. <I have like so many limbs, though. It's dizzying. I have my shoulder arms, my back arms, my lower arms, my front arm, and then my legs. There's so many.>

You stretch, take another slurp from a nutrient shake, and get to your feet to try again.

>Roll photokinesis!
>>
Of course we'll eventually learn to bend all light and not just those few punies, right?

Let's start small. Begin by trying to reflect 700nm Wavelength photons. We'll see a nice red spot. We can progress outwards from there.
>>
>>24751758
Probably shouldn't have wasted time on typing out exactly what to do haha.
>>
You focus, and try just to deflect a few wavelengths of light, and will it to the side...

And it bent, and you got dizzy, losing your balance and falling to your knees.
"We got a 45 degree bend there." Keen said, as Ellie pulled you to your feet. "Pretty good."
Dizzily, you leaned on Ellie, her upper arm patting your shoulder.
"Go on, sit down for a bit. I'm not sure you can do much more." Keen said.
>>
>>24751852
"But I gotta get good at it, so I don't set myself on fire again!"
>>
>>24751852
"Probably a good idea. I'll keep on working on it later."

It's time to take a break from training, we're tired, get some food, hang out with people, and fiddle with electronics.

>>
>>24751882
Let's not.
We're already tired, and this isn't exactly easy to do.

"I just need to eat more sugar."

"I need more energy. A few tries and I'm dead already? I'm going to get nowhere at this rate."
>>
"I need more energy." You say. "A few tries and I'm dead already? I'm going to get nowhere at this rate."
"If the technicians let me tap some energy from them, I can give you some more." Theta said.

"Heh, I don't use my energy for anything but trying to quit smoking. Go ahead." Keen said. Theta touched him, and then any of the other technicians who raised their hands, and then you.
You felt power flood through your limbs, and you took a deep breath- you were revitalized.
>>

"Thanks, everyone. I'll give it one more try for today, and then call it quits. I'm starting to get it."
"Good luck." Theta said.

You stood again, fully energized, and take a deep breath. With all the energy in your body, you reached out to the light surrounding you...

Today's rolls have been so delightfully flat.
>>
The light around you wavered, and you held out your palms... and reflected all visible light, creating a circle-shaped mirror in front of your palms. The backside of the mirror was pure black, and you couldn't see anything there. You saw the wall light up where you pointed the mirror- and then Ellie stuck her head in the way, and pulsed brightly.
"Hehehe, this is so cool!" She said, and stuck her finger into it.
You take another breath, and let go of it, tired again. Not entirely exhausted like before, but not reinvigorated. Almost as if you'd gone for a jog or a fast swim.
"That was pretty good. Complete reflection." Keen said, leaning on the table, panting. "I'll pass this all to Manus, and we'll see what he comes up with about it, alright?" He said.
>>
>>24752169
"Go ahead. Hopefully he'll be able to come up with something to help me train that."
>>
>>24752169
"Thanks Keen. Make sure to eat something sugary and delicious, it's good for you."

It's now time to goof off with our friends. See if they have anything they want to do.
>>
>>24752169
"Thanks Keen. You too, Theta."

"Okay, Ellie! Ready to head off? I'll go load my exosuit into Surya and grab Alex then we can go wherever you want!"
>>

We should name our exosuit Gerald.

"Thanks, Keen. Make sure to eat something sugary and delicious. It's good for you."
"Hah, I will." He said.
"Okay, Ellie! Ready to head off? I'll go load my exosuit into Surya, and grab Alex, then we can go whereever you want!"
<Alright!> She said. <Theta, can you->
"Yeah, sure." He said, and her body twisted back into her original form.

And she had the brightest blonde hair you'd ever seen, long and straight.
"Hey!" She said, glaring at him. "You didn't change my hair back!"
"It was all dyed. That's unhealthy for you, you know." Theta said.

She shot him a glare.
He made his own hair pink.
"Fiine." She said. "I'll just cut and dye it later."

That's when you realized- you'd never actually seen Ellie's natural hair color before.
>>
>>24752379
"What the hell, Ellie? Your hair is damn cool natural!"
>>
>>24752379
"ooooohhhhhhh"
Touch her hair.
"So pretty!"
"Why don't you keep it like this?"

>What colour is her hair usually?
>>
>>24752379
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasp
"So. Cool."
swoon
>>
>>24752379
I'm going to braid it!
>>
>>24752379
<Couldn't you make it pink naturally, Theta? Just curious.>
>>
"Oooooh, so pretty!" You say, and touch Ellie's hair. It was much fluffier and longer than it normally was. "I'm gonna braid it!"
Ellie sighed, as you started to braid her hair. Winter quickly joined in.

<Couldn't you make it pink naturally, Theta?> You ask.
<That's why my hair's pink right now.> He said.
<Just curious.>
<It isn't hard. Color's easy to change. A little tricky when you're going for unnatural ones, but not impossible by any means.>
>>
>>24752529
<Well, don't fiddle with my hair, I like it how it is. It's actually really pretty in different spectrums of light, especially UV.>

"So, where do you guys want to go?"
>>
>>24752529
<Can you make it so that it grows in pink, but stays blonde now? It'd be a nice surprise, I think.>
>>
>>24752565
This'd be a nice surprise.
>>
>>24752529
Why do you dye it pink anyway? This is much much nicer.
>>
>>24752379
I guess Ellie finally learned Telepathy.
>>
>>24752529
"Are you gonna keep it Pink forever?"
>>
"Why do you dye it pink anyway? This is much much nicer."
"Because I like it." She said.
"Are you gonna keep it pink forever?"
"That's the plan!"

<Can you make it so that it grows in pink, but stays blonde now? It'd be a nice surprise, I think.>
<Yeah, I'll do that.> He said, and focused for a moment.
"So, where do you guys want to go?"
"Well, Kailynn wants to talk to me, so I'll go for now." Summer said.
"And I need to go take a nap." Theta said. "See y'all."

The two of them left, and you met Ellie's eyes, and shrugged, finished braiding her hair.
"Let's go find Alex somewhere." Ellie said. The two of you made your way out into the hallway, and you found yourself walking toward hydroponics.
"Wait." Ellie said. "Isn't Alex's dorm over there?"
"But he's up there." You say, pointing at the hydroponics ladder.
"... Oh, psychic things!" She said.

Wait.
Was that psychic?
You just... always knew where people were when it came to-

"Well, anyway, Ellie and Heather'll be calling me soon." Alex said, and chuckled again. "Here's your shirt."
"T-thanks." Jilly said, and you heard a zipper.
"Ooooooh~" Ellie said, and poked her head up the ladder, and back down. "Shh, they're kissing."
>>
>>24752736
Whisper back to Ellie "Really?"

Turn on Technopathy, talk to any cameras nearby, and look at the footage.
>>
>>24752736
"Heheheh. Let's give them some time together. Wanna have a go in my exosuit and load it onto the ship?"
>>
>>24752759
That's creepy
>>
>>24752736
Time delay message onto his drone. "Meet at the ship. Gave you some time alone with Jilly."
>>
>>24752736
Peek.

"It's not psychic, I just knew where he was from before... I think."
>>
>>24752736
Still no comment on Ellie's newfound Telepathy, Exabutt?
She telepathed Theta and he can't hear 'projections'.
>>
>>24752800
Weren't we translating via Einstein?
>>
>>24752800
We were translating for her. We started in >>24751442.
>>
>>24752667
>>24752800
>She was 'pulsing', which you understood because of your own telepathy, and consensus was on translating for her, utilizing Einstein. It would just be a hassle to say 'said to you, which you transferred to einstein and he said aloud for Theta' every time Ellie said something. Note that I did the same when Heather!nagala was talking aloud through Einstein.

You peek, and there they were, kissing. Alex had his hand on the base of Jilly's tail, around the back- where her butt would be, were she human- and then giggle. "Heheheh, let's give them some time together. Wanna have a go in my exosuit and load it into the ship?"
"Yeah!" She said, and as the two made your way down to your workshop, you send Alex the message to meet you at the ship.
Ellie's pale hair, as impossibly soft and silky as it was, slowly unbraided itself. as she ran down to the workshop, pulling her bat out of a random vent.
