LAST TIME ON AGE QUEST: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Gundam+AGE+Quest
-----------
Your name is Jake Crocker. You are 15 years old, in the ownership of a Gundam and currently traveling with the ship and captain you were forced into capturing under fear of imprisonment. Yesterday the captains revealed they would have to destroy a U.E. Early Warning System, A U.E. Outpost and what was probably some kind of U.E. Mining facility before you could directly attack their space fortress Ambat.

Before any of that however the Armstrong and Diva are headed towards the colony of Minsry to talk to the rich industrialist Alzack Birmings in the hopes of getting money and strategic supplies to upgrade the Zalam and Euba troops already allied with the Diva. On top of that the Captain mentioned going talking to those pirates who now owe you a favor.

You have 2 weeks before the battle of Ambat to prepare, starting today. It is Monday morning and the time is 10:00 AM. You have just woken up from a peaceful sleep. You will arrive at Minsry in the next 10 hours.

What will you do Jake?

Make a bigger gun. We're going up against 3 outposts and a possible fortress that we know of (and 8 Big Zam expys that Jake doesn't). Moar Dakka is needed.
>>
>>24765989
I'd like to see if we can get acquainted with more members of the Magic School Bus. So far we've only associated with the pilots, which makes sense, but it could be nice to get to know our support staff better.

Speaking of which, did we run into Dique or Vargas while we were onboard the Diva? They are the ones around the AGE Builder the most often, so it would make sense we encountered them. I don't have any plans dealing with them, I'm just curious.
>>
Can we upgrade the cowl system somehow?
The type we have now doesn't allow our suits to utilize their powers and abilities properly.
>>
>>24766138
Is there any point to using a cowl other than the Titus cowl? It's got strong enough actuators moving it around and enough thrusters attached that it shouldn't be a serious mobility issue. Plus it's got improved defense over the solid cowl as well as the beam emitters. So that invalidates both the Anti-Beam Cloak and the Solid Cowl. That just leaves the Back Weapons System, which is clumsy enough to not really be viable. We could build an entirely new cowl if you want, but there's no real need to upgrade the cowls we have at the moment.
>>
>>24766202
Not for us, for the other pilots.
Dad used the cloth cowl yesterday in his sparring match against Flit and lost because the it wouldn't let let him use his dirty tricks.
And it detaches for 30 seconds, and once detached, it cannot be reattached easily.
>>
>>24766256
I think you mean the BWS. The cloth cowl doesn't affect mobility.
>>
>>24766256
He was using the BWS, not the cloth cowl. But the other suits could probably benefit, yeah. Arnold's already got a solid cowl, and Ralphie's beam emitter placement would probably interfere with putting a cowl on his suit, but we should check if Dad, Tim or Carlos want anything.

>Dique or Vargas
The old guy and the chubby kid? Oh you remember those two. Yeah they were pretty nice. You made small talk with them and asked them about Flit and the AGE builder. They hold a lot of faith in Flit, they seem like good friends. No mention of Flit's parents though...

>>24766138
>>24766256
The cowl system in itself is fine. The Prototype Back Weapon Cowl you made isn't. It's a prototype but it took too long to detach. It fits over the suit and gives it a Space-Fighter esque appearance. While the suit can't use any of it's own weapons, it can use the ones build into the fighter. 3 DODS Rifles and plenty of missiles. Still, there are flaws with the design that have to be addressed. Dad had issues with the Back Weapon Cowl because he didn't realize how long it took to detach and that he could only use the weapons on the Cowl while wearing it.

>>24766202
The Full Titus Cowl is good in terms of compensating for your speed, but the maneuverability lose is still pretty high. Besides, that's only in space, you don't want to even think how hard it's gonna be to move under gravity with that thing. The Anti-Beam Cowl is still a good option if you want additional protection without affecting your mobility. As for the regular Full Solid Cowl, it still has it's usefulness to other pilots. The Full Titus Cowl was an expensive cowl to make compared to the standard Full Solid Cowl. The Full Solid Cowl provides a lot of additional protection and to someone like Arnold who's acting as a sniper, the lose of mobility isn't an issue.

>>24766125
The only other members of the crew your semi-acquainted with is Liz and Dorthy Ann and even then you don't know a lot about them. You could have a chat with the Captain and the bridge crew too, that couldn't hurt. So who do you want to talk to Jake?
>>
We really need to improve the BWS, it has the possibility to be great but right now it's just not worth it. The BWS will be crucial to taking those 3 key points.
>>
>>24766354
Chat up the mechanic. Either through gestures or interpretive dance.
>>
>>24766354
Dorthy Ann would be a good one to talk to. She's our combat coordinator, it would be good to get acquainted with her. It just makes sense to have a sense of trust between the pilots and the deployment operator.
>>
I guess we could talk with the mechanic first, considering how she's taking care of our Gundam. Dorothy comes next.
Also, have we called home recently?
>>
>>24766472
Liz is mute, not deaf.
>>
>>24766354
The BWS seemed to be far too crippling when dad used it. We need to fix that delay of detachment or he might as well not use it at all.
>>
if we can still build stuff we may want to see about making a grappling hook since we're pretty mele oriented.
also nothing say "fuck you" quite like using a MS to beat up other MS
>>
>>24766595
I meant her gestures and ID.
>>
>>24766647

a g-hook launcher attached to the arm would be a nice idea.
>>
Oh shit, I nearly forgot. We need to research the fuck out of that SENTINEL system that Flit found on our Gundam.
If it really allows us to interface with other Pre-AG mobile suits, it could be our greatest asset against the UE.
>>
>>24766593
You have plans in mind for fixing up the BWS system and making it not suck, but that will come later. You decide to chat up with Liz, who is in her room working on what appears to be additional fire-control countermeasures for the ship. You can talk to her all you like, but reading her sign language is a little bit of a challenge.

She explains that as a kid she's always loved to take things apart and put them back together. Liz hated to the idea of being stuck at some boring, safe job just because she couldn't speak so she aspired to join the military as an engineer. It wasn't easy, but the U.E. were making the Federation accept whoever they could into their forces. Basic training as a nightmare, in sign she asks you "Do you know what it's like to go through basic training without being able to say 'Yes Sir?'. It didn't help no one bothered to tell him I was mute". Still once she got into the engineer part, she blew everyone's ass out of the water. She was stuck on bases for a while doing maintenance work, but eventually she got assigned to the Armstrong. Unlike a lot of the other engineers aboard the Armstrong she was happy to be there when she first arrived. After mingling with the crew she found out they weren't remotely bad as the rumors were. Liz assures you that while she may be still somewhat new to the military, she is a veteran when it comes to repairs. After helping Liz with some of the fire controls you leave to talk with Dorthy, who is at lunch reading an online Colonial Newspaper.

"Hey Dorthy how's it going?" You ask, sitting down and immediately trying to steal some of her food.

"I'm doing fine. Are you here to try and steal my lunch again or do you need something?" She asks, pulling the delicious looking ham sandwich just out of your reach.

"Actually I thought I should get to know you a bit better. I've only really talked with the pilots, so I think I should get to know the rest of the crew." You explain, making one last grab for her sandwich before giving up.

"Well I'm sure you've heard the rumors about me. The thing about this ship is that it's basically a dumping ground for everyone who's thought to be ineffective in the Federation military. Enough that they have to keep us around, but enough that we aren't considered useful. Frankly I find the "Shortbus" comparison used on this ship to be rather insulting. We're not that bad, it's just we've had our fuck ups." Dorthy takes a bite of her sandwich and sighs.

"I got here because I was smart enough to pass the academy at the top of my class, but stupid enough not to realize that a Genoace with blown out leg motors would crash and burn if they tried to land without a safety net. The pilot didn't die, but my CO's were pissed off and the rumors had already begun to spread. I ended up here after before the pilots did, so I guess you could call me the 'veteran' fuck up around here."

"What made you want to go into the military?" You ask, curious to why she was so determined to stay.

"Why? Well I wanted to help people but at the same time I didn't want to become a doctor, or a lawyer or any of the other crap my siblings were"

"You have siblings?"

"Seven brothers, seven sisters. All with degrees and diploma's falling out of their asses. Just for reference, I'm considered the dumbest one in my family"

Thoughts Jake?

>>24766925

Why do the Feds have a ship they put everyone they don't like? Does it have something to do with Captain Frizzle?
>>
>>24766925
"No offense, but screw them."
"You're out here in the field, helping us win a war against the fabled unstoppable enemy, while they're sitting in some comfy chairs taking it all for granted."
"Without you, we'd be dead the moment we faced those UEs, and who was there to detach us from the Diva?
You're a damn hero in my books - everybody on this ship is. And when we win this thing - and you better believe we will - you're gonna be a hero to the entire Federation."

"Anyway, why did the Feds put us all here? Does it have to do something with the Captain?"

She smiles at your compliments. "Thanks Jake. I hope we're accepted as heroes when we get back too. Like I said before, we ride a point where they don't want us but can't be bothered to throw us out of the military. This ship is probably there way of trying to get rid of us, or at least confine us to one place." Dorthy explains, gesturing her sandwich. "I don't think it's a case of us being stuck with Captain Frizzle, more like Captain Frizzle is stuck with us. See she used to be a talented and respected Captain amongst the Federation..."
>>

"Well I don't know all the details myself, but from what I understand she's the reason the Federation isn't pressing against the U.E like we are. I heard she drew up a plan of attack to push them out of the Earth Sphere, the space territory surrounding the earth. However as you can see the U.E. are still here and she's captain of this ship" Dorthy frowns. "I don't want to make it seem like I'm gossiping here. Captain Frizzle is a wonderful Captain. If you want to know more maybe you should ask her yourself."

"I probably will, thank you Dorthy." You get up and leave the lunchroom.

What do you want to do now Jake?
>>
>>24767198
Exactly that. Let's talk with the captain of the magic shortbus.
>>
>>24767198

It's pretty clear that the Captain's plan got a lot of people killed.

Agreed. We don't need to piss off our superiors just yet.
Let's get to know the other pilots first, possibly visit Mellis, and then lets get back to work.
>>

We know the backstories and motivations of the other pilots already (except Flit).

Speaking of which, we need to ask Flit what an X-Rounder is.
>>
>>24767318
True, I suppose. We should at least ask them what they'd like to see improved in the software / hardware department, considering how we're going to work there for a while.
Then, ask Flit about the X-Rounders.

I never even understood the concept of the Gundam tournament. Okay, so the country that wins it gets to rule the planet for the next some-odd years as an alternative to war, but what chucklefuck seriously thought this was a good idea? Your capacity to create a giant robot and supply a pilot capable of defeating everyone else's somehow qualifies you to regulate international commerce, politics, economics, legal systems, social services, etc.? It makes zero sense.
>>
>>24767455
>Your capacity to create a giant robot and supply a pilot capable of defeating everyone else's...
...means you could probably take over by brute force if you wanted to, so let's skip the shooting part and go straight for the peaceful aftermath.
>>
>>24767455
yeah it makes no sense but honestly G gundam is not a gundam show you watch because it make sense
>>
So, just curious - now that we have the AGE replicator and the recycler, as well as captured UE mobile suits, could we use their tech against them?
Can we make our Gundams more lightweight by using that metal the UE MS are made of, or something like that?
>>
>>24767318
>>24767355
Captain Frizzle seems like a good captain, your curious to why she was put here. However you suspect is has something to do with that plan she had against the U.E. It doesn't seem like the time to ask her about that however.

Instead you decide to call up Flit and ask him what the hell an 'X-Rounder' is. Thankfully after the modifications you made to let Ma G ride around in your Phone, you can now call anyone you want, for free.

"Hey Flit? It's me Jake."

"Oh hey. How's it going?"

"It's fine over here. Could I ask you a question? My Dad mentioned something about X-Rounders, do you know what they are?"

"Yeah, kind of. Captain Grodek says that there is a region of the brain called the X-region. It's not used or functional in regular people, but the people who have activity in that region are known to have special powers, like precognition. Captain Grodek says the Federation has been researching into them since the U.E showed up. He also says that Me and Carlos might be X-Rounders."

"Really? I could believe that. Carlos can dodge shots he really shouldn't be able to...what about Mellis?"

"Your friend...I don't know. I can't see any other way she could move like she did out there and those remote weapons would need a massive amount of spatial awareness to use. However I get a strange feeling from her..."

"Hey buddy, back off."

"No, No. Not that kind of feeling. I don't know how to explain it, it's like I can sense her intent towards me and frankly. It scares the shit out of me."

"...Alright I'll keep that in mind Flit. Mellis is a good friend, she's not this violent. I think the U.E. messed with her head. The doctors are running tests to figure out what exactly."

"Really? Well there is an X-Rounder research facility Grodek mentioned on a colony near Minsry. If we get the money to buy raw materials for the AGE Builders, we'll have to go there to pick them up. So maybe you could try and get something out of them."

What now Jake?
>>
>>24767520
Not until we understand the materials they're made of. Unless we already do then it's just a matter of modifying the armor.
>>
>>24767481

Yes, I definitely see Neo Kenya being capable of taking over the goddamn world through brute force if they happen to win with the Zebra Gundam.
Admit it. It makes no sense.
>>
>>24767520
(The recycler just breaks down scrap into base material ingots for the AGE Builder to use. You have data on the U.E.'s suits, but you don't fully understand the technology. If anything you could use the AGE Builder and the Armor data you've collected to try and make improved armor, but that would take a while and replacing all the armor on the Gundam would keep it out of commission for a while. )
>>
>>24767531
Work with Ma G to refine the controls of the Gundam. Maybe make some macros to save time.
>>
>>24767531
wait AGE is more or less set after the even of the UC timeline right? then newtypes have been around for a while now, are X-rounders newtypes of newtypes? or I am just an idiot and screwed up the timelines?
>>
>>24767531
Let's get cracking. Work with MaG to upgrade those OS flaws, as well as improve our controls.
After that, let's try to improve that Back Weapon Cowl, it could be extremely useful.

>>24767563
Okay then, let's analyze the shit out of their tech once we have more free time.
>>
>>24767551
Everyone has nukes, wars cause too much collateral damage, MAD is assured. Ergo, Gundam Fight decides who controls everything. If you use nukes to try and invade a country, everyone else nukes you, no questions asked.
>>
>>24767589
X-Rounders are this Gundam universe's equivalent of newtypes.

>>24767531
Do this >>24767566 and then figure out a way to decrease the detach time on the BWS.
Then we should check up on Mellis. We could let her know that the effects that Flit and Carlos have on her could have something to do with them being X-rounders.
>>
>>24767643
>>24767628
You check up on Mellis and explain about what you learned about X-Rounders. She tells you she could 'see' things happen before they happened, especially in the simulator. She tried to train herself to use this, but it was difficult as the ability only seemed to work half of the time. She says she'll try to steer clear of Carlos and Flit for a while.

You decide to work on the Back Weapon System Cowl to decrease the attach time.

You waste several hours trying to figure out what the hell is the problem. You figure out it's the connections between the suit and the Back Weapon System, but you don't know how you could possible correct it.

What now Jake?
(I have to run to the store, I will be a few moments)
>>
>>24768019
Flit might help us with this, he's the engineering prodigy after all.
He might even teach us a few tricks, our not-piloting skills could use some work.
>>
>>24768019
Go practice in the simulator.

Need to be ready for anything.
>>
>>24768075
This is a good idea. Except we might have to ask him to help with it after we get to Minsry, since we're on separate spaceships.

>>24768084
We don't have a simulator aboard the Armstrong. We train with the other pilots using shot markers.
>>
>>24768313
Well, we can call him for assistance, considering how we got the greatest phone in the universe nearby.
Or we can ask Ma G for some input, any pointers are be welcome.
Let's at least work on this till we hit the colony.
>>
Once we get to Minsry maybe we should go on our date with Mellis we asked her on
>>
>>24768434

That really should wait. As nice as that sounds, we do in fact have more pressing matters at hand. We have two weeks to prepare an attack on the most heavily defended place in the solar system, so really, we have time for that after the big victory (unless we don't save Mellis from dying from her mental implants before then, a problem Jake isn't aware of yet).
>>
>>24768505
Agreed. We could probably leave her at that research facility nearby, they are better equipped to help her if something goes wrong.
>>
>>24768536

Jake would be concerned enough to have a professional facility to have a good look at her, and maybe fix what Desil did. He reaiies Mellis isn't out of the woods yet, even though he doesn't know exactly how grim the situation is right now.
>>
>>24768618
That's what I'm saying. We're not equipped to deal with something like this.
And that research facility is so far our best bet to save her.
>>
>>24768313
Back in the fourth thread it's mentioned.
>Yes, this ship has a few combat simulators, but I think it's time you did some real sparing against me and the other pilots.

Since the others might not take too kindly to always sparing the simulator is a viable alternative.
>>
>>24768699
So it would be exactly like the MS simulator in the arcade on Zarth?
>>
>>24768019
How difficult would it be to scale up the EM Crossbow? Maybe we could make a larger rail-cannon for anti-ship/anti-fortification work? I can't remember whether I-Fields exist in AGE or not. If they do, then a heavy railgun may be useful.
>>
>>24768814
If we're upgrading the crossbow, we'd also need to improve loading time. That thing packs a punch, but it's slow as fuck.
>>
>>24768814
>>24768841

If we intend to upgrade the corssbow at all, the only thing we could conceptually do is figure out how to reduce the charge time on it's electro-magnetic propulsion system. A gun like this, by it's nature, doesn't lend itself to full-auto.
>>
>>24768771
It would probably be more complex than that.
>>
>>24768075
>>24768313
>>24768367
You ask Flit over the phone about your connector issues. Ma G provides some detailed technical info for him about the Back Weapon System and he explained what was wrong. With his help your able to fix the BWS with ease by giving it fewer connectors and giving the connectors a kind of explosive bolt design. The detach time for the BWS is 1.5 seconds, a massive improvement over the 30 seconds it took earlier.

>>24768841
>>24768814
>>24768903
After working on the BWS for an hour, you look over the Gundam's EM Crossbow. It's a nice weapon, but you could make something better now that you have the AGE builder and a buttload of data to draw from.

You could improve the Crossbow, lower it's recharge time and possibly increasing it's rate of fire or you could create a railgun based weapon for larger targets. That U.E. ship looked pretty mean, so they can assume that having a bigger weapon wouldn't hurt.

What do you want to do Jake?

Could we install some beam-sabers into the wrists of our Gundam? Integrated weapons, so we're never disarmed.
Also - that thing the Farsia had? Those drones that shoot enemies? Can we make something like that eventually?
Or a tail that shoots lasers?
>>
>>24769016
Railgun. Always go with the railgun. Maybe the excess heat from them can be used as another weapon.
>>
>>24768903
If we're gonna do that, we might as well upscale to battleship size and let the Armstrong mount it while retrofitting the ship itself to get some things like, energy capacitators, sensors, etc. up to level. Then we shall have a siege battleship on our hands.

Let's put it this way, if we can lodge an arrow bolt large enough to literally hit Ambat's control center in a single shot? That's even more time for us to hit them blind sided in a sense.
>>
>>24769016
A chargable railgun, for punching through sheets of heavy armour.
>>24769083
How shall we make ammo for the battleship scale?
>>
>>24769102
The answer is always Heavy Metal Particles.
>>
>>24769016
Frankly, we should do both. Develop a faster Crossbow for use against MS and a large railgun for long-range specialists to use. A few snipers with anti-ship cannons could be damn useful for the assault.
>>
>>24769016
Can we make another EM Crossbow and use them together? One for the lightly armored target that fires faster and has a larger clip size, and another that packs quite the hit?
If not, go with the railgun.

Also, now that we have the AGE builder, can we improve the Armstrong so that Ma G can integrate with it?
I guess it'll take time and resources, but we should definitely upgrade the School Bus.

Upgrading the ship would take a lot of time and a lot of materials, however the Diva already plans to do that from what you understand. So you could totally use the AGE Builder to enhance the ships weapons, but you'd probably have to go to Madorna Workshop to get any major refits done. Additional weapons and other systems wouldn't be too hard however.

Raw Material Ingots for use in the AGE Builder: 75
>>
How about an EM Ballista?
>>
>>24769221
Better to go with a straightforward rifle or launcher design for the railcannon. Easier to store in the ship and not as awkward to handle in combat.
>>
>>24769016
Proximity fused frag crossbow bolts. Preferably large ones so we can take out swathes of suits at the same time.
>>
>>24769217
By the time we would finish any major refit at Madorna the target could be heavily reinforced enough to make the assault a suicide run. New MS weapons would be faster and cheaper than seriously upgrading the ships. Maybe if the negotiations are successful we could have enough resources to give our ships anti-beam coatings, but even that could be a stretch.
>>
>>24769016
let's make a railgun can't go wrong with a railgun
>>
>>24769585
We could also use the beam emitter, beam saber, and shield data to start prototyping a beam shield like the F-91. Might be a longer term project though.
>>
>>24769221
An EM Ballista sounds interesting. The EM Crossbow itself isn't very awkward to store on the hips. You could probably make an upscale version. It would probably have to be two handed unlike the one handed EM Crossbow, but with the upgraded size you could probably make different types of bolts for it, like explosive.

The EM Crossbow does not us EM to attack, it uses electromagnetics to propel armor piercing stakes at targets. The bolts themselves could be designed to explode.
>>24769874
>>24769868
You work for another hour using the AGE Builder and manage to pump out the EM Ballista, a large up-scaled version of the regular EM Crossbow. It's recharge rate is still the same but it's power is three times that of the EM Crossbow. Like the EM Crossbow, the EM Ballista's ammo is pretty damn simple to make. Very sharp stakes made out of a very hard material. With the increase in size of the bolts you can add effects to them.

What kind of bolts would you like to make Jake?

EM Crossbow Cost 8 Ingots.

100 Bolts will cost 2 ingots.
>>
>>24770060
(Also I agree. Jake's Engineering skill should have gone up a little, he's made quite a lot. It's now at 55%)
>>
>>24770163
Can we also improve the bolts for our normal crossbow? Perhaps improve their stopping power, or at least make them exploding.
Or perhaps they are launched magnetized by absorbing a part of that EM and can disable electronics better.
>>
>>24770163

I say we make 50 explosive bolts and 50 armor piercing bolts.
As to how to make the recharge time faster, making a supercooled capacitor for the Ballista should work. It would allow it to charge electricity much faster.
>>
>>24770163
Explosive ones, we want those ones not to just explode but to penetrate and then explode so that the shrapnel and concussive force happens on their squishy insides. We also want ones that are just plain AP.

EMP rounds would also be good, have it penetrate some and then fry the inner electronics, that'll mess them up something fierce.
>>
>>24770364
Normally EMP weapons can't be implemented due to the range and power involved and the risk of disabling yourself or your allys but since your bolts are going to be passing through the insides of a suit instead of trying to get through them, even a small EMP pulse could fuck up the electronics.
-Adjustable Contact-Time Explosive Bolts x30

>>

Random idea for one other type would be a grape shot/flechette round where it exploded into a cloud of balls/arrows, not that effective against gundams but it would rip the hell out of without much armor.

Not more than 10 of them though.
>>
>>24770507
I don't think we'll be fighting anything organic for a while.
>>
>>24770507
How about a net-bolt? It opens up into 4 smaller ones, which spread open some electromagnetic net. Or a net made from that stuff dad used against us.
>>
>>24770507
Grape shot/flechette bolts could be used to damage sensors which are difficult to hit, but mostly unprotected.

Net-Bolts and Goo Bolts could also be used, for hindering other suits mobilities

-AP Bolts x20

(Jake and the crew could probably build a computer system if they can get the money and resources from the Industrialist on Minsry, but what does a Data-miner entail?)
>>

>>24770823
A computer and linkup system designed to crack mainframe security programs and copy or extract as much data from the computers as it can store. If we have to infiltrate Ambat, We use it to get every bit of info we can about the UE.Take it back home for analysis. We might find weapons or MS data. We might find base locations or UE srongpoints. Even population or internal political information could be useful if used right.

Can we ask Ma G to create some sort of mini-AI whose only task is hacking?
Place that thing in a remote computer, throw some firewall around it, and we have a data miner.
We could even move that thing around, instead of installing it directly into the ship's systems.

“Really? Well we only have on test subject here, I’ll make sure to send Girard home when Mellis arrives. Normally X-Rounders don’t react that way around other X-Rounders, if anything two X-Rounders being near one another should strengthen their abilities. It’s puzzling, but I’ll make note of it when we look into the implants. As for what we do here, we research the capabilities and details of what X-Rounders are. Don’t worry, we don’t kidnap people and dissect them or anything like that, we merely want to understand what X-Rounders can do and how they can be identified. We haven’t done a lot of live testing, mostly examining and studying the X-region of various donated brains. We only have one X-Rounder here, but she’s my daughter and I’d rather not embarrass her with any tests."

"As for what an X-Rounder is an individual who can use the x-region of their brain. The thing about the X-region is that one time long ago man used to use this region. However as we evolved it was less and less used until we could no longer assess it. However in recent year’s x-region brain activity has increased in the population, allowing us to get an idea of what it does. From what we can tell the X-region is linked to the many unusual abilities people have been said to have had over the years. The only ability we can say for certain that X-Rounders have is precognition, although I believe they are capable of much more. I’m not surprised the U.E. is interested in them. An X-rounder soldier would be able to know what an enemy’s attack was before he even made it, all he would have to do is train himself to react fast enough and he would be a monster on the field of battle. Even if the U.E. are aliens, they must recognize the threat X-rounders present and wish to use them against us before we can fully understand them”

"Easy, you react before he can react. Just because he can tell what your going to do doesn't mean he'll be able to stop it. At least that's what I can tell" Dr. Spriggan says.

"We'll be stopping over at Minsry, do you think you could send a shuttle there to pick her up?"

"Of course. I'll come over on a shuttle with some security. Can't be too careful with the U.E. around"

It takes a while but you manage to build the frame and the basics while leaving enough room for whatever Data-Miner configuration you can afford. By the time you put your tools away, the Armstrong is already at the colony. The Captain of the Diva, Flit, and it's important staff will be going to Alzack Birmings residence to speak with him. If they convince him to join their cause then they will be staying for a week to work on the preparations. They will probably have things for you to do, until then your free to do whatever you want.

The Minsry colony is a colony built to emulate Earth's environment with lush forests, lakes, grasslands, fuck even a mountain. The colony is huge but sparsely populated and mostly by the rich. Still, it'll be a great place to hang out. Maybe Mellis would like to go for a walk before the shuttle arrives. You think it might be a good idea to escort her to the research facility

So Jake, the shuttle arrives in an hour. What will you do?

>>24773184
The idea of there being an actual mountain on the colony is kickass. You plan on climbing it, but you decide you should take Mellis for a walk before she has to leave for the research facility.

"Are you sure these guys are solid?" She asks, finally getting changed into some proper clothes, wishing she could find a wig on board to cover up her now bald head.

"The Dr. Spriggan sounded like a nice guy, his own daughter was an X-Rounder but he didn't test on her, so that says something about him" You say with a shrug.

"If I hear one word involving secret conspiracies and I'm burning the place down and going home. You got me?" She says with a mock glare.

"I wouldn't blame you. Now come on, we could use some fresh air." You say, holding the door for her.

"Your going to have to hold my hand. Only because I'm still high off my ass on pain killers. If you make one sappy statement I'm force feeding you your own balls" She warns as you take her hand.

"Alright, alright..."

You exit the ship and eventally make your way out of the space port. Upon exiting you gasp at what you see. It looks like...Earth, or at least the pictures anyway. The colony walls are design to reflect in light without revealing your in space at all. The crisp air, the miles and miles of trees, grass and the large mountain in the distance makes it feel like your on an actual planet.

Where do you want to take Mellis?

We're going to have to conquer that fear someday, and hell Melis might get a laugh out of it.
>>
>>24773624
True.

Also, we need to play the Spriggan situation carefully. Reina in the show was a perfect example of what an emotionally overstressed X-rounder could do. To clarify, she overrode bit control of THREE DIFFERENT UNITS(two of them vegan, and she was in a captured fed unit), dampened the X-Rounder Abilities of 4 of the 5 other major combatants through chaotic X-rounder pulse emissions, and was more or less going the way of Rosamia from Zeta when she snapped.

You ask Mellis where she wants to go and she says the Lake on the edge of the little town, the only urban area in the colony.

"Ugh, er, Ummm. How about the woods?" You says, fidgeting around at the thought of larger, deep, suffocating water.

"No, I don't think that would be a good idea. They're are two people out there making my head hurt..."

"How about we hang out in town instead?" You ask, trying to persuade her to not go to the water.

"Alright you big baby. Your going to have to learn how to swim one of these days." Mellis says with an eyeroll.

You shudder at the thought of having to go into anything deeper then a puddle, much less a whole lake.

Mellis and you stroll into town.It feels small and comfy, no large malls or fancy hotels. They have a general store, a police station, a doctors/dentists office, an electronics store, a coffee/icecream shop and a lot of touristy/gift shops. This place is like a national park in space.

What do you want to do in town with Mellis?

You take Mellis to the electronics store to hang out and drool over the latest stuff they have in stock. You immediately check out the new Virtual Boy DX that just came out by Gintendo. It's the first portable Virtual Reality console. It's not exactly hand held and there are rumors it'll give you brain cancer if you play it too long, but it supposedly has some good games on it like Super Mobile Suit Wars and MS Simulator 2000.

"Remember that time we broke into that warehouse thinking the new arcade games had been shipped in?" Mellis asks as you look over the games they have in stock.

"Yeah I remember. We crawled into one of the crates onto to get locked inside." You said with a nostalgic chuckle.

"You were crying because you thought we were gonna get shipped out with them and we were going to starve to death or suffocate" Mellis says with a sheepish smirk.

"At least I didn't piss my pants..." you say with a vengeful grin.

"H-hey! I was 10, besides you still wouldn't take a shower till you were 14"

"I told you, I just liked washing myself with paper towels..." You lie through your teeth and check your wallet. "Do you have any money Mellis?"

"Nope. I don't even have proper clothes, all I had on was that fucked up space suit. Had to borrow some from Dorthy Ann" Mellis says with a shrug.

"Alright...I think I can fix this." You find the nearest ATM and look around. "OK Ma G? Do you think you could access the ATM and get me some money?"

"Affirmative."

"I'll find some way to live with myself. Now print out 300 bucks I'll probably need some later" Ma G hacks into the ATM and soon it's spitting out 20s.

"OK, now we can get some lunch" You say with a smile as you walk Mellis to the nearby Coffee/Ice Cream shop.

You sit down and look through the menu. They have a shitload of food, some of it looks pretty fancy and expensive. The Coffee/Ice Cream sign was rather misleading.

What do you want to eat Jake?

The waitress comes by and you give her your order despite the more extravagant items on the menu. When asked what she wants Mellis orders

"Lobster with a side of deep-fried clams, coleslaw and chocolate ice cream"

The waitress leaves to get everything and you look at Mellis with a puzzled look. "Hey, you try eating nothing but hospital food for a while."

You have some time to talk before your food is her. Anything you want to talk about with her?

>>

As you eat you ask her some questions, trying to keep her mind off what happened.
>Talk to her about what we're doing, if she thinks we're in the right, bitch about the Fed Government being useless.

"Well you guys are going to fight the U.E. when the Federation doesn't want too. I sure as hell say that's the right thing to do. Fuck rules and regulations and lets get things done" She says, shoveling lobster and chocolate ice-cream into her mouth at once.

>"You look different today. Did you do something to your hair?"

"Seriously. Fuck you" She says with an amused laugh.

>"Now seriously. Mellis. If you need anything - ANYTHING - you call me, alright? Any time you need me, I'll be there. I promise."

"Oh please don't start acting like all clingy now. But yes, I will call you if I need anything from you."

>We should probably give her something soon as a small parting gift.
Perhaps our cape.

Taking off your cape, you fold it up and neatly hand it to her. "Really?" she asks, taking it from her.

"Yeah. It's going away gift. Something to remember me by till I come back."

Mellis rolls her eyes and smiles "Well I hope you become famous after this so I'll be able to sell this thing on Ebay for a butt load of money." She takes the cape and runs out of the restaurant. You throw down a 100 dollar bill and chase after her as she begins to prance around with your cape, threatening to sell it just to goad you into following her around.

You run and laugh until your sides hurt, but eventually you realize you have to leave. You escort Mellis back to the space dock. There you see a small, but fast looking 6 man shuttle sitting in dock. A man in a lab-coat and fedora greets you.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Spriggan, are you Mellis and Jake?" He asks, looking perplexed.

"Yep. I'm Jake and she's Mellis." You say, nodding to yourselves.

"Your younger then I thought..."

"You can thank the Federation for that." You say, resisting a groan.

(Continued)
>>
>>24775697
Dr. Spriggan explains he couldn't get any security Genoaces to accompany him. His shuttle is fast, it only took him an hour to get from Bockel to Minsry, but it doesn't have any weapons.

Would you like to escort the shuttle or let it go to Bockel on it's own?
>>
>>24775755
Let's escort them. Tell them to give us a minute while we go get our Gundam.
We need the practice in an environment with gravity, if nothing else.
>>
>>24775755
Escort, just in case stuff happens.
>>
>>24775755

>>
>>24775755

Escort. Though remind Mellis that once this is over, she still owes us that date...
>>
>>24775755
Lessee...
Largan and Woolf are probably hanging out on the Diva trying make sure the other man doesn't sink their fangs into the Comm Officer(Captain in Gen 2) of the Diva. Maybe have your Dad call them up and some of the Armstrong group for a an escort run while doubling as another practice drill? Carlos probaby should not come along though.
>>
>>24775755
Escort. That douche-bag Desil is in the area and we don't want Melis in UE hands again.
>>
>>24775855
We probably have some time before anything bad happens. As far as we know in character, Minsry is safe for the moment. Even with the out of character knowledge about the Federation ships approaching, the imminent UE attack, and whatever the pre-AG unit waiting for us is; we still probably have a few days before anything untoward happens.
>>
>>24775881
You decide to escort. You don't want to risk Mellis getting kidnapped again. You call up your Dad and Woolf and ask if they'd like to accompany you on an escort mission of sorts.

They agree and soon your leaving port with the shuttle. The hour long trip to and from would be a peaceful one. Before leaving you reminded Mellis that she still owed you that date.

"You still need to beat me. Last time didn't count" she says with a chuckle.

However by the time you arrive, shit is going down in the colony. BAD SHIT.

"Woolf, Jack, Jake! Get the hell inside the colony we have a MAJOR problem!" Dorthy Ann yells over the comm system.

"Calm down, what happened?" Woolf asks.

"Some weird mobile unit appeared inside of the colony. It's god damn huge, like a cross between a blimp and an aircraft carrier. It came out of a secret door in the mountain and began letting out drones that started snatching people up. It got Grodek, Flit, that girl he was with, the Industrialist and everyone in the colony!"

"What's it doing now?" You ask.

"Nothing. It's been sitting there doing nothing. Everyone in the colony is inside of it now. I deployed Largan, Carlos, Ralphie, Arnold and Tim into the colony, but they haven't wanted to get close due to everyone being inside."

What do you wish to do Jake?

>"Hold on, we're coming there.Pull the Armstrong and the Diva to a safe distance and observe. We don't want to do anything that would endanger the civilians."

>"Ma G, check your databanks. Do you have anything that fits the description?"

"All I have available in my databanks is what has been provided too me. All data and memory regarding my run-time with the prior pilot was removed. I have no more a knowledge of pre-AG machines then you."

>>24776276
>Can she show us any footage of the drones or the main unit? I'd like to know a bit more about what we're facing before we make any plans or choose our loadout.

Dorthy forwards what little footage they managed to pull from the few of the internal cameras. The drones are very small, enough to carry a person a piece. They deployed in mass droves, firing down wire guided claws, grabbing people by the waist and dragging them up to them, then flying off back to the blimp.

The thing that deployed the drones wasn't a mobile suit. The best way you could describe it was some kind of mobile armor. It was about 120 meters long and 50 meters tall. It had a strange, lobster like body, head and limbs that hung from a fat blimp like body. It was a dark brown color and appeared to be made of some kind of metal

It looks large, well defended and it has people somewhere inside of it. However it doesn't look like it has any weapon systems, at least from a glance. It's flight speed seems pretty sluggish but it's flying high and the Earth-like terrain makes it slow moving on the ground.

What will you do Jake?
>>
>>24776673
Set up some bait for the thing to try and grab then destroy the claws. After that destroy it's inevitable counterattack.
>>
>>24776673
Oh God it's the Collectors.
I assume dad and Woolf will get there before us if we move at full speed.
Can someone from the Armstrong meet us half way with the Back Weapon Cowl? It's time to test that thing. Also, EMP rounds for our crossbow.

The plan should be something like this:
1. Set up some bait.
2. Blow up drones coming for the bait.
3. Blow up the claws.
4. Paralyze the damn thing using EMP bolts.
>>
>>24776673
The lack of visible weapons systems makes me more worried about what it might be. I mean, it could just be a mass evacuation system in case of invasion, but I have trouble believing that.

Maybe use the camouflage functions of the ABC to approach by ground? We should also see if the enhanced sensors on Tim's suit can make out where the people are being held inside it. If we can spot a safe area to shoot, hit it with the EMP bolts.
>>
>>24776773
Also this. For now, till we get there, investigate as much as you can.
We need to know where we can shoot, or risk civilian lives.

You land in the hanger and equip the Anti-Beam/Memory Cloth Cowl and the EM Ballista, taking a clip of EMP bolts with you as you deploy. You have Dad and Woolf stay outside in case anything happens and make your way into the colony.

The place is still beautiful, but it's a ghost town. The Night cycle has begun, making it quite dark out. You have to switch to night vision to see clearly and there, floating in the sky is the Mobile Armor. It seems bigger now that your seeing it in person, even from a distance it's size and girth is quite obvious. You see a pair of green dots light up in the distance.

Eyes, the Mobile Armor was looking in your direction. You don't think it sees you, the Anti-Beam cowl, the dark and the fact your suit is running could should keep you invisible to any of it's sensors. Still it's pretty damn disconcerting.

You meet with Arnold and Tim, their mobile suits hiding in a collection of trees off to the side of the port exit. Arnold is staring through the scope of his DODS Sniper rifle, monitoring the mobile armors movements and Tim has activated his Radome.

"Alright guys, what's the situation?" You ask.

"Me and Arnold have been monitoring this thing since we deployed. It showed up shortly after you left. We got inside in ten minutes, but by then it had already snatched everyone up."

"Has the thing moved since then?" You ask, zooming in with your own cameras.

"Not really. It's just floating there, almost like it's waiting for something..." Arnold mutters.

"Where are Carlos, Largan and Ralphie?" You look around, not seeing them.

"They decided to follow the river to see if they could get close to the suit. My Radome can't penetrate the things armor at this range. I'm getting some readings, but I'll need to get closer if I want to see inside and locate the civilians"

What is the plan Jake?
>>
>>24777216
Ma G, do you have the virus ready?

Say, have finished analysis on the Sentinel System?
>>
>>24777216
Head to a deserted area and try to snipe at it. See what happens.
>>
>>24777216
We getting any reaction from the Sentinel System? We need to close in. This is gonna suck...
>>
>>24777216
Okay, Arnold and Tim should follow the river to meet up with the others. Tim needs to get closer, anyway. Meanwhile, see if he we can play hide and seek using the memory cloth camouflage and occasional flashes of our thrusters to raise our heat signature. Try to maintain the same general distance from the mobile armor so it doesn't change position. If things get too hairy call in Woolf to split its attention with the G-Exes' maneuverability.
>>
>>24777250
"Virus loaded and ready. However I advise launching the virus."

"Why?"

"A unit of that size and design is most likely automated and will probably house an A.I. If we launch a virus it will most likely be unaffected and launch a counter virus. My resistance to a virus is questionable and I would not advice testing it under these circumstances.

>>24777311
The Sentinel System was re-connected to your Gundam's systems, but you haven't activated it yet. Flit said it could all you to link up and communicate with "Pre-AG Devices and Units" maybe you could communicate with that Mobile Armor. Or maybe it could just give yourself away to the unit.

What will you do Jake?
>>
>>24777562

Inform Arnold and Tim of our plan to activate the 'Sentinel System' and try to 'communicate' with the MA. We shall move to an area which has more cover then activate the Sentinel System. If it is running on an A.I. it would be Pre-AG, so there is a good chance that we might be able to take command of it... or at least infiltrate it...
>>
>>24777629
At the very least it will provide a distraction for Tim to get closer. Unless the AI has sufficient multi-tasking abilities. But it's worth a shot.
>>
>>24777562
I say we just shoot it.
>>
>>24777629
>>24777681

“Alright, Tim, Arnold, you go down the river and meet up with Carlos and the others. I have this system on board my MS that should be to communicate with that…thing. If that thing starts opening fire, let me draw the agro. You get close enough to scan it, then tell me where the civilians are. Don’t fire off a damn shot until we know where to disable this thing. Understand?” Arnold and Tim nod the suits of their mobile suits.

"Got it boss” They say before moving out.

You have a hard time finding cover, the most you can do is kneel your suit down in the thickest part of the forest. Then you activate the SENTINEL System.

-Communicating with host…
-Communicating with host…
-Complete-

“Mobile Suit Identification finished. Gundam Unit and Sargent Arthur have been added to this units friendly list. Please inform this unit of the situation. No friendly units or personal have been found. Several base structures are no longer present. Five Unknown Ships are in dock and the colony was filled with foreign personnel. Please explain the situation”

What do you say Jake?
>>
>>24777562
"I need a bigger can-opener."
Let everyone know what we're going to do. If it comes to a fight though, Jake might need to get to point-blank range. Jake hasn't tested the ballista in a colony and doesn't know how gravity and wind resistance will affect his aim. And with the size and shape of the MA, long-range shots might deflect off of heavy sloped armor.
>>
>>24777885
Tell it to redesignate our guys and the colony civilians as friendlies.
>>
>>24777885
Oh boy. Give a basic sitrep and ask for permission for MaG to send history data for the AI to review. We might get a sizable boost to our forces if Jake can persuade the AI to stand down or assist with the assault on Ambat.
>>
>>24777968

sounds good. Though for now, we should assume the guise of 'Sargent Arthur' as if it finds out that we are not him, then it will tag us as an enemy captured unit...
>>
>>24777885
"Ma G, I think it thinks I'm your old pilot."

To the AI: "Unidentified personnel are non-combatants. No threat is currently presented. Lack of base structures or proper identification is the result of decommissioning. Bureaucratic errors prevented you from receiving the situation update."

And then relay to the others that we're trying to convince it to stand down and no one should shoot at it for the moment.
>>
>>24777968

If it's working with the UE, and it reviews our data that has documentation of us terminating UE units, it's going to flag us as hostile.
>>
>>24778039
We still have to deal with any UE that may landed have on this colony.

"We are now sending records of all civilians and military. Please match and release all personnel which are identified by the records. All unidentified will be held to undergo personal evaluation by this unit."

You have Dorthy forward you the history files for the past 115 years and send them to the unit.

There is a 20 minute silent period until eventually the unit speaks again.

"Victory confirmed. Wartime counter-measures deactivating. Preparing for landing and release of non-combatants. Standing by for further orders Sargent Arthur."
