Welcome back, hopefully this isn't too late a start to draw the smart crowd.

Last we left, we had just not died like a pig in a slaughterhouse on our kitchen floor, and then Daliah took Rezna into town to visit people, and see the clinic. Melissa had come into the bedroom wearing something lewd, and sex occurred in the smutbin. http://pastebin.com/6M7BVxKJ
It's not a big addition, but feel free to read.

~~~~~~~~
As you lie in bed, enjoying the post coital glow, you idly wonder where Daliah is. It's well past dark now, which probably means she's staying in town with Rezna. It's not a big deal, but you're used to the bed being fuller than this. You cuddle closer to Melissa as a result, and she makes happy noises.
[ ] Talk to Melissa about the strained relationship between her and Daliah, be specific in what you want to say
[ ] Go to town looking for Daliah
I really need to stop posting the porn in the OP. I've been told this, too, so it's doubly my own fault.
Hey OP.
Im really happy i finally caught the thread. Long time HM fan.
Ive been following and voting up the threads since #1 on suptg. Love the quest.
Wont be able to participate much, which is a shame because i have lots of input to provide. I have a professional background in horticulture, so maybe i can drop a pastebin with some info or thoughts?
Keep doing your thing!
>>
You should start posting a link to the archives in the OP
>>
I feel like that would only discourage posting further, and god knows I don't need that.
It's nice to have fans.
A shame you can't participate though.
Feel free to pastebin anything you want.
Lets pick Melissas brain.
How does she like her life here? What are her hopes, goals, wants? Get everything. Have a big heart to heart. Discuss Daliah. We love both of them, seperately yet equally, as well as together. Maybe suggest an outing for the two of them to bond a bit?
>>
>>24796825
Im going to participate as much as I can.
B-but its not like i like your quest or smut or anything, baka goddess!
>>
>>24796318
For discussing the strained relationship between Melissa and Daliah I would like them both here.
But since we're cuddling with our sweetheart let's talk to Melissa, not necessarily about her and Daliah, but about her. Ask about her past, if she's happy now, what she wants, her hopes and dreams, all of that.
And cuddle the fuck out of her.
>>
>>24796952
Bitches love cuddling.
>>
>>24796952
Actually, on second thought, scratch some of that.
We should probably talk to her individually about her and Daliah.
But first we cuddle a lot, and talk just about her, we'll bring up her and Daliah after that, but start by paying attention to the woman in our arms and not someone else.
>>
Just got an idea -
Its winter, right? Would that mean some sort of Christmas or New Years analogue may be coming up, OP?
They were a nice part of the games, and it could be a good way to interact with the town and the girls. No pressure (quest is great already) just an idea.
We could bring Santa to these people. Sneak into houses. Deliver gifts. Muahahaha.
>>
>>24796318
>Talk to Melissa about the strained relationship between her and Daliah, be specific in what you want to say
"Melissa, I know that I don't make it any easier for either of you, but I need to talk to you about you and Daliah. You and her seem to be fighting more and more now."
>>
>>24797117
You bring up an excellent point that I had been mulling over the last few days myself.
I made a harvest moon world without festivals.
Should I have keith introduce his own, or spontaneously add traditional ones, or ____?
I'm leaning towards adding real world holidays myself.
>>
Am I the only one who thought it was super fucking retarded to give the corrupting blood amulet back to the girl who, just a few days ago, finely broke free from it? I mean, the first thing she did when we gave it to her is STAB US IN THE FUCKING THROAT!
>>
>>24797391
Why not both.jpg
The town should have some small celebrations (weddings, birthdays, harvest days, i wanna get drunk days) that you should feel free to fudge at your whims. Maybe they release lanterns at the river? Have crab eating contests? Build jenga towers out of corn husks?
Other times, maybe we could vote on keith trying to liven things up? I think it would be nice for our wives to stumble upon our old customs and traditions via conversations as time goes on. Seems romantic.
Anyone else have any thoughts?
>>
>>24797482
But in a good way!
But seriously, I promise I won't kill you off without at least two warning posts, so don't overthink the choices, there's nearly no meta.
>>
>>24797482
Yeahhhhhh.... About that...
When i was reading that in the archives i was facepalming everywhere.
I think we should encourage her to learn more traditional healing, as others suggested. It should help her mentally to have a skill she can feel proud of and be helpful with. The amulet is bad news.
>>
>>24797391
Well speaking in general terms pretty much everyone is going to share some number of common holidays even if they're under different names.
You're going to have fall ones at the end of harvest season to celebrate the bounty from nature, you'll have one at each of the solstices, the winter solstice to celebrate the longest night and the return of the sun, spring ones for the return of life to the world, summer ones tend to involve bonfires, being outside, and other revelling, fall ones are tied into the harvest festivals.
The other holiday times are more individualized for a certain culture or region, things based wholly in religion or the remembrance of certain events or people. Those you'll have to make up.
>>
>>24797521
I know you won't kill us without a fighting chance, but I still suspect this will backfire horribly.
Anyway, since there are people finally here, will we play? I've been waiting all night for this quest bro. Maybe you should set up a time to start to avoid confusion and disappointment.
"Melissa honey, while I have your full attention...can we talk?"
Melissa tenses up. "Y-you're not leaving me for that new Rezna girl, are you?" You suppress a laugh, and stroke her hair. "No, silly. Never. I want to talk to you about the relationship you and Daliah have."
Melissa tenses up, then relaxes again. "I'll be honest with you Keith, I don't fully trust her, and she doesn't fully trust me. I think she puts her precious relics, and now Rezna, above you and your health. She probably thinks I'm a self absorbed sex toy, too dumb to do much else. But you know better, don't you Husband?" Contrary to her words, Melissa grinds into you generously. "I know you put my life above everything else, honey, it's completely obvious to me. I trust you implicitly. As do I trust Daliah. I know her motives may seem a little...muddled sometimes, but you have to believe in me who believes in her. Understand?"
Melissa shakes her head a bit. "No, Keith, I don't. I won't allow her to put you in danger anymore. You've told me about these Relics, and while some of them, like Providence, have come in handy, some others, like that damn medallion are so dangerous. You could be killed in your sleep if Rezna gets her hand on it. How many other evil trinkets like that exist? Why do we even WANT to gather them?" Melissa pauses, gathering her thoughts. She's a bit cold, now, as though afraid of something.
"Keith, listen to me. I know we've built a life here, the farm is huge, the animals healthy, the crops good, barring evil storms. But that's nothing, really. Our lives are all that matter. With life, and hope, and years, we could do this anywhere. We could leave New Bounty, you and I. We could search for a new town, or hell, even found one ourselves. I'd bear you dozens of children and we'd settle somewhere nice, and safe. We could live out our many years happily and simply. There'd be less adventuring, maybe, but not none. We could explore for ores, or for other settlements."
>>
With tears in her eyes, Melissa turns to you.
"Just no more damned magical weapons of mass destruction! Please Keith, I don't want to lose you again and again to some otherworldly....BULLSHIT! Why can't we just go somewhere and farm!? Why!?"
She's really serious.
[ ] Well, we could just leave, I suppose. It'd be an adventure going somewhere, but you'd have to start fresh.
Speaking of the amulet, i understand your apprehension. Thats partly why i think we should collect them. They are dangerous, and we might keep them out of the wrong hands. Whats more, its very important to Daliah. Now, im not putting her above you, thats why i suggest we sit down and talk about this. You deserve to be heard. I cant agree to leave our new home just yet, but what else would you suggest we do?"
>>
>[ ] Talk her down, it's gonna be just fine here.
"Melissa, I love you, and I love Daliah too. I won't leave her just as much as I won't leave you."
I suppose we also need to explain our desire to gather the Relics, not because we want adventure, and not even as just an obligation for Daliah, but because items of power like that, just out there for people to find and abuse, we saw too much of that back in our old world.
>>
[X] Talk her down, it's gonna be just fine here.
"Sweetheart, I promise that I will not die, no matter what I will come back to you. And I also promise that I will make our farm prosperous through my blood, sweat, and tears no matter what. It will have orchards of trees, fields of crops, a barn full of animals, and a distillery producing the finest alcohol around. I promise you this.
But I am not leaving Daliah for you in the same way I will never leave you for Daliah. You remember what we went through together to obtain these rings. That did not produce two different marriages, I am not married to you and also married to Daliah, all three of us are bound together in the same way, we all belong to each other.
And this is why I wanted to talk to you about this. You're jealous of her in some ways and she's jealous of you. I am not comfortable with the loves of my life being separated from each other in that way, with my loves bickering and fighting. This isn't right, when the two of you fight it hurts me to see your hurt each other. You're both beautiful and wonderful and I just wish you could see that, I wish you could see that my love for one of you doesn't diminish in the least my love for the other, and that you should love each other not fight each other.
As for the Relics, there are two reasons behind me seeking to help gather them when I can. The first is their power, whether it is the type that will improve our lives, or the type that ushers in destruction, for the first it is for us, for the second it is because I do not want them free in the world to hurt others. But the second part is because of what they are a part of. This world has so much wrong with it, what happened to Rezna, the fog that leads travelers here, the people of your village, and so many more tragedies.
The Relics are part of the Harvest Goddess, and should they all be gathered and sacrificed properly she will be whole again, the world will be whole again."
You plan your next words carefully. "Listen, Melissa. I'm going to tell you a story. Where I'm from, some years ago, we had a war. It was big, and involved about 80% of the world. Various world leaders acquired technology that could be fairly called Relics in their own right, these were weapons of great power. Imagine a house made of steel, killing everything in sight. Now imagine one that flew like a bird, and dropped rocks that made enormous craters and set towns on fire. That and more was used over, and over, and over again. Finally, one last relic was uncovered, and one of the leaders used it to subdue the entire world in fear for decades."
Melissa is silent, eyes wide as she takes it all in.
"Now, imagine, all those relics were collected by one trustworthy person, and hidden away, or destroyed if possible. Sure, people still die in wars, but not nearly as many as do when Relics run rampant. I don't want this world, wherever it is, to become like my old one. I want to collect the relics, and keep them safe against the wicked people in the world. I trust myself, and I trust you, and I trust Daliah to do this. No one else. Will you not help me?"
"Also, Daliah thinks that if we sacrifice the Relics, we could resurrect the Harvest Goddess. Imagine what that could do for the world."
Without hesitation, Melissa replies.
"My life is yours, Keith. It always has been, and it always will. I can't promise you that I'll agree with Daliah, and if she does something that puts you in harm without explaining herself first, I will stop her. But other than that, I will be the faithful, obedient wife you deserve."
With that, Melissa rolls back over, and pushes back into you. "Now, let us enjoy a little personal time, shall we? I don't mind sharing you, but I do like our time together. Try to spend more with me, yes?"
~~~~~~~

The next morning, you awake to a dull grey sky. It's snowing lightly outside, you note. It's falling slowly, large white flakes almost making noise as they hit the ground. Almost.

Well there are two basic ways to get salt. The first is to find rock salt and mine it, that seems like a pain in the ass. I mean not only do we have to locate it, which isn't the hardest thing, just look for an evaporated lake or the like, and then the fun part of digging it out of the ground.

The second is to find salt water, given that we aren't near the ocean that'll be a bit more difficult, and evaporate it.

Satiated by the bakers dozen eggs, you move outside once more. The snow is beautiful, though it does render an entire season irrelevant for the farm. You don't see your wives anywhere, so you do what you always do when you're bored, and head into town. You pat your chest to make sure that the medallion is still there, though you can easily feel it's weight.

~~~~~~~
The first place you go is the General Store, to collect the extra coin they owe you. It significantly ups your cash flow, which is always a nice feeling. You ask after your wives, but they haven't seen Daliah since yesterday.
Moving on to the pub, you have some old cider and speak to the barkeep about gossip. He mentions that there's a strange girl in the town clinic with Daliah, offering services. With that in mind, you thank him, and head out. Who knew the bartender in a dry town would have useful information?
~~~

Arriving at the clinic, you find you have to get in line. Daliah has rounded up about half the village, easily, and is telling them to wait around to be seen for a stiff leg here, a scratch there, a fever there.

You wave to her, but she's so busy she doesn't see it. You decide to just jump the line, and enter the clinic anyhow.

Inside, Rezna sits on a short stool next to a bed, where the blacksmith lays. "I burned myself rather badly the other day, and it hurts like a bastard." Rezna nods, expressionless, then turns to a bookshelf, choosing a book slowly. Flipping to a page from the index, she reads slowly, "chew bark from such and such a tree, then spit on the wound. Do this every day until you like it." She closes the book, and dismisses the smith with a nod. The next villager lays down in turn, and begins his litany of woe. Deciding everything here is in hand, you plan your next move.

Give Daliah a quick hug and kiss as soon as she's done with the person she's talking to, and tell her that we have a few things left to do in town and will see her back home.
Ask around for Melissa.
Also make a note to go and collect barks of certain trees that have medicinal value.
>>
You bade Daliah a fond farewell as you leave, surprising her, but she's quickly back to flogging the line into shape. She must really want the clinic to succeed as a part of the village.

No one seems to have seen Melissa though, so you head back to the farm. Gotta make mead, you suppose. It'll perk Melissa up, regardless, to have liquor in the future.

~~~~~~
Once home, you head down to the root cellar. There you find the large jars of honey, and the fermentation kit you bought earlier this year. There's a small instructions sheet, and after a few quick reads you think you have it down. So much fresh water, so much honey, and so much yeast. You mix it all, more or less as the instructions read, and then put the lid loosely on the barrel. With that done, your time is once again free. You're starting to wonder about Melissa, so you head into the house to see if she left a note.
Also, we didn't see the note as we left the house? We are fucking blind.
>>
Daliah is busy with her pet project. This is a time for Keith-Melissa bonding...
WE BEST TRACKER NOW!!!
>>
>>24799368
We were focused on breakfast, to our downfall.
You guys keep discussing where she might be, I'll be back in five.
>>
>>24799329
The problem is that if we go back to town to get Daliah, we may lose Melissa's trail.
>>
>>24799385
No, best tracker is DOG! Hopefully.
Okay, we need the dog, it might be able to smell her, then look for tracks in the snow, and try to remember any locations, general or otherwise, that Daliah gave on Relics to give us a starting point on what direction to go.
Remember to leave a note for Daliah saying that Melissa had a fit of madness and we're out grabbing her, that she shouldn't worry and we'll be back soon.
>>
>>
>>24799304
>>
I thought we had them all locked up in the barn, though?
Or does the barn door not lock?
>>
>>24799785
>>24799772
The barn does not lock. There's never been a need for a lock, the dog keeps them on the farm quite handily.
The dog is next to useless at tracking in snow, are you sure you want to bring it? I don't mind, really.
>>
>>24799765
It probably won't be any help, leave it with the animals or nothing will take care of them.
>>
>>24799807
Damnit. Leave the dog here. Leave it and the cat extra food and water.
>>
>>24799807
>The barn does not lock
Yeah, that's actually something that was never mentioned, and kind of important since I think most people are used to barn doors that can be locked, even if it's just with a simple bar across the doors.
>>
With vigor, you write a note for Daliah, detailing how to take care of animals in your absence. You grab your long knife, your wolf cloak, and some trail food. You rush to the barn and dump a bunch of fodder on the floor, and point to the dog on the way out. "Be good!" "Woof"
In a flash, you're gone down the road towards the mountains. You run, mostly, trying to make up for lost time, but Melissa has most of a day on you, and the snow is only getting stronger.
~~~~~~~

You're walking into another storm, but there's nothing unusual about this one. Just a winter blizzard, driving snows, howling winds, the usual stuff. It's so natural, it'd be picturesque if you were watching it from somewhere with a fireplace. But you're not. You're out looking for your damn stubborn fool wife, who's out playing the hero. Head down to avoid the whipping winds, you advance at the fastest pace you can, still trying to close the gap. You're not sure how much time has passed, due to the storm blotting out the landscape more than ten feet away.
>>
>>24799844
You're right, it's an oversight on my part, since everyone picked the "dog that watches the animals" dog, it'd be like buying scratch protection on your invincible iphone.
>>
>>24799867
It's not even that. I think most people have only seen barns that lock somehow from the outside; even on farms that dedicated herding dogs the barns can be barred from the outside.

Also, does this mean that the dog is always with the animals? I thought that he slept with us inside the house at night.
>>
>>24799845
do we know how far we are from the nearest relic?
>>
Determinedly, you muster on, cursing Melissa loudly.

"Stupid girl! Who's she trying to impress!? She doesn't know the first thing about relics, or finding them! Neither do I, for that matter, but that doesn't mean she's more qualified to do it!"

As you rant, the storm goes away for about ten seconds, and then comes back. You knew it was too good to be true. Damn storm.

Is this a sudden break, like what it would be like if we were in the field of effect of Providence?
Let's retrace our steps real quick, see if the break in the storm was due to Providence or not.
>>
>>24799906
It's not that she's incompetent in any way; it's that she ran off alone to do it, after both she and Daliah gave us no end of grief over doing the same, and for something significantly less dangerous.

Ding, nice catch.

You stop in your tracks, for a moment. Something seems off. As you stand there, suddenly the storm dies down to nothing again, and you feel rather warm. You turn around to see your wife, in a matching wolf pelt, and your backpack, standing in the middle of the road.

"Fancy seeing you here husband, did you miss me that badly?"

>>
>>24799984
Scold her for running off alone, hug the fuck out of her, and return home. From now on, all future relic hunting will not be attempted without all three of us together.
>>
>>24799984
Smack her across the cheek, not hard, but not gentle either. Then give her a big hug and tell her we were worried about her, especially since she decided to wander off after a relic on her own after bitching to us about doing it and to never do that again.

Then we go home.
>>
>>24799984
Say something, namely an apology for the rant we just had and that she probably just heard, and a legitimate complaint about the hypocrisy of her going off on her own and complaining when we do the same. We care about her, and we'd feel the same way if something happened to her that she'd feel if something happened to us.

Then head home by the route Daliah is most likely to take if she sees the note and runs after us. And if we meet up with her on the way back, we can go ahead and look for some relics with the three of us together, which is how we're strongest.
>>

"Any Relic hunting we do, can be done together, with all three of us.
"This isn't because I don't trust you, but because in this land of magic, it's better to expect the unexpected and be prepared. And we're best prepared when it's all three of us together."
>>
>>24799984
[X] Say something

"Yes I did, and I'm supposed to be the idiot in our marriage."

Give her a hug and a kiss.

"Please don't worry me like that again. We're supposed to be married, all three of us, if we go looking for Relics or going on adventures we don't go off alone like that. Do you have any idea how worried we would have been, knowing you were off in a blizzard, not knowing how you were, if you were ever coming back?"
>>
You spend the next ten minutes solidly explaining why you're mad at Melissa. You give well reasoned arguments on why she shouldn't have done what she did. You list the number of ways she could have been injured, or worse. You stop, feeling like you've done a good job of getting the point across.

"That's all well and good Husband. I know that you care for me. Now. Go home."

You're shocked. She's never this straight forward, or contrary. "Melissa, I'm not going home without you. This is silly."

"No, Keith, you are silly. I was alive long before I met you, I'm not going to just die on the road. It might not feel like it, but winter is at least half over. If I don't bring you home some relics, you're going to be all 'Ohh Melissa honey, we have to spend part of the harvest seasons fetching relics because of Daliah's dead mom, boo hoo'. I'm not having that. We're at the base of the mountain range now, I'm not leaving without some stupid bauble to please your other half. Now, support your wife in her quest for world peace, or go. home."

She's super serious. You're not going to be able to bring her back outside of physical force.

"Alright honey, I bow before your conviction, I just want to know why you left like you did. Why didn't you ask me to come with you?"

Melissa turns her head a bit. "It would be bad if it appeared I was running the marriage, and your life by proxy. You're already housing my animals, brewing my liquor, and generally doing whatever it is I want. I figured it would be best if I proved my own worth. Daliah is useful for her knowledge, you are useful for your tenacity, I am useful for my _____"

She drifts off.

"Anyhow, let us sleep here, together, and we will continue into the mountains in the morning. Don't worry about the storm, it won't touch us, even as we sleep."

You hold your wife very tightly that night, thinking about what she said. The worst part is that you can even see how she arrived at her conclusions. Daliah IS useful, you're the guy who everyone turns to for whatever, but Melissa is sort of a quieter person, who effects the world less. Next to a veritable superpower like Daliah, you can see how she'd feel inferior, though it's still silly.

~~~~~~~
You wake early, in a circle of dirt, surrounded by two feet of snow. It's such an odd looking thing, the physical manifestation of Providence. You break some food up with Melissa, and start your journey into the mountains proper. The book had mentioned a specific place, one that would seem fairly noticeable, apparently.
So Daliah's the Brawn, Keith's the Skills, and Melissa's the Brains of this family?
>>
>>24800506
Nicely done.
As you pass through the pass, you wind upwards. The air becomes a bit thinner, and your ears pop once. However, one pile of rocks seems out of place, as though put there intentionally some time ago.
You nudge Melissa and indicate the pile. She nods, agreeing with your judgement. The two of you begin shifting the rocks, eventually uncovering a doorway hewn out of the mountain, that leads down into the living rock itself. There's an inscription on the doorway, which you read, poorly.
"Oh my wha moe shin dare you? What does that even mean?" Melissa has no idea either, but you came here for a reason. Melissa strikes up a torch she pulls from your bag, and the two of you enter the darkness of the mountain.
>>
>>24800617
Daliah is the brawn and the fiery passion, in all the good and bad senses of that. Keith is the sheer cussed tenacity, along with the outside perspective and thinking. And Melissa is the reasoner, the thinker, the calm voice and the common sense.
"Okay, let's see Melissa, we're here for two rings, Risk and Reward, and some gloves. The book didn't say much else, but we can probably assume that they'll be obviously placed. Someone made this tunnel, and so there'll be a chamber at the end, probably some pedestals, the works, you know?"
Melissa nods. "I'm sure we'll know them when we see them."
There's not much else to say, and the darkness is oppressive, so you simply walk in silence, holding your wife's hand.
Time passes, and the corridor ends. Not in a wall, but in a vast chamber. Melissa's torch doesn't light it all up. You can see about twenty feet in any direction. You don't hear anything, but you draw your knife just in case. The two of you walk forward, and shortly, the torch casts a flickering light on a throne of stone.
It's massive, easily four times larger than a chair needs to be. On it, sits a skeleton, gray with age, and covered in dust. It's impaled through the ribcage with a spear, which cuts into the stone of the chair.
You can see a small box in the lap of the skeleton, protected by it's hands.
What do you do?
>>
>>24800937
Watch our step, we don't want to step on anything weird.
The floor is plain hewn stone. The room itself seems to have been created carelessly, out of necessity rather than pride, perhaps. Turning your head and thrusting the torch around, you see a few inscriptions on the wall to your left.
It's a picture wall, but the quality is poor, again, as if someone wanted to be done, quickly. The story told is rather basic though, and you recite it to Melissa for plot purposes.
"Here lies Sh'aal, Lord of War. May he rot forever for his crimes against the world, and may his precious relics rot with him."
You look back at the skeleton, then back at the wall. "Looks like someone looted most of the relics though."
The wall has more to say. "Disturb not the rest of the dead, for we may forget him in time, but he will never forget himself."
"That's all I'm getting out of the wall, honey."
Melissa calls back to you from the throne. "Okay, so lets just grab the box and go, then."
"Honey if you touch that box before I tell you to, so help me god."
Making your way back to the throne carefully, you inspect the scene in more detail. The spear seems to be of high quality, it has little tarnish on it for all the time it's been down here. It's a metal haft, which you imagine would make it rather heavy.
The throne itself is hewn stone, as is the whole chamber. It's rather unremarkable. Again, you sense a desire on the behalf of a long dead mason to just halfass the job and be somewhere else.
The skeleton is just a skeleton, as best you can tell. You've not seen a lot of skeletons, other than where you found Rezna, but it seems a standard kind of skeleton.
The box is old wood, it's rotting through a bit, and you can see something inside, though what it is, you can't tell.
You take your knife, and try to dig at the box a bit. The wood looks terrible, so you figure you can cut through it no problem. The problem isn't the wood, which indeed crumbles under the point of your knife, the problem becomes the fact that the skeleton reaches up with one hand, and pulls the spear free of it's chest. The bigger problem is that with it's other hand, it bitch slaps you across the room.
Standing back up, you rub your jaw in shock. The skeleton is also on it's feet, and it has it's spear crossed with Melissa's staff. The poor girl looks so determined, you think to yourself, before you shake the dust out of your head.
She's in some pretty serious trouble, probably.
On the other hand, the box is now broken open on the floor, and you might be able to reach the relics inside it.
>>
Melissa makes a final swing, as does the skeleton. Going full armed, double handed, Melissa completely shatters the Skeletons' skull, and he goes limp and separates into his component bones, like a good skeleton, right after shoving his spear into Melissa's heart. The weight of it drags her to the ground, but she's dead as she hits it. You watch helplessly as the light goes out of her eyes, dying cold in this hole in the mountain.
You drop to your knees over her. "No! It wasn't supposed to be this way dammit! Why? Why'd you have to be so brave?"
You cast your eyes around for anything that could help. The medallion can only heal near death, so it's out. The box of relics catches your eye though. You scramble over to it, and open it. Two rings, one white and the other an odd colour that seems to shift as you look at it, fall out of the box. They roll along the floor, coming to a stop near Melissa.
A pair of leather gloves flop out of the box, too.
[ ] What do you do?
>>
>>24801961
First, try the medallion; use it to bring her back, as Rezna did.
If that fails, use the gloves to turn back the clock.
>>
>>24801961
Seize risk and reward, use both at the same time as we use the medallion to heal Melissa.
>>
>>24801961
Put on both rings, and use the gloves, try to turn back time.
>>
>>24801961
use the odd color ring, which I assume is Risk, and use it to supercharge the medallion, hopefully to bring back the recently dead.
>>
>>24801961
>Why'd you have to be so brave
I'm thinking she was a whole lot of something else myself.
>>
>>24801961
The gloves are
Sisyphus, a pair of leather gloves. They seem to fit any wearer. The singular name and the plural nature of gloves has not been explained. The wearer of the gloves may redo one activity a day as though it had not been already done. Example Given, if one wearing the gloves made a social faux pas, they could utilize the gloves, and everyone present would forget the conversation had happened. It seems the gloves only allow for around two hours' time dilation. Experimenting is dangerous, obviously.
Put them on, reverse the act of her getting stabbed, hopefully without reversing the act of the skelly dying.
>>
>>24801999
this.
>>
>>24801975
>>24801983
>>24801989
The medallion can reverse near death, not death death.
>>
>>24801986
>>24801975
Donning the rings, and then the gloves, you concentrate as hard as you can. This isn't going to be how it ends. Not by a long shot. Your hands warm, and you watch dumbstruck as time flows backwards. You see Melissa getting unpierced, and you go back a bit further than that.
Removing the gloves, you clutch the medallion tightly in your hand. The skeleton seems surprised that you're standing in front of it, and not across the room where he would swear he just hit you. Melissa gasps a bit as well.
One more d100 for bloody falcon punch, lads.
For a moment, the wilderness is quiet. Then, suddenly, the southern face of the middle mountain explodes outwards violently. There is no adequate way to describe the noise, as there is no adequate way to describe how much everything weighs. Shards of mountain the size of towns are ejected for miles, and more. The dust cloud rumbles forward and blankets the forest, knocking over trees, and felling the slower birds in it's wake.
The earth trembles under the assault of debris, and the shockwave finally forms and hits the trees not felled by the dust, tearing them out of the ground for no less than six miles.
~~~~~~~

Hours later, as chips of diamond continue to rain down, Melissa supports you on her shoulder as you walk home.

"Keith?"

It's the first sound you've heard in hours made by a living creature.

"Yes?" You manage weakly.

"Do that again some time for me, okay? It kind of...turns me on."

I disagree.
Using both Risk and Reward together increases the chances of Risk criting, since they stack with each other.

Sure they might be fine for one to use one or the other on the farm, but during combat, the two rings and the gloves should stay on one person.
>>
>>24802318
"No lesson on this earth is worth you dying, Melissa."

>>24802399
I agree that this is just for everyday use. But in any case, Risk and Reward probably should go together. Perhaps we give Daliah Sisyphus, and keep Risk and Reward for ourself?
>>
>>24802417
Since Melissa has Providence already. But on the other hand, Daliah has Sow, as well. So perhaps Melissa should carry Sisyphus.
>>
we could always stick to the plan of putting them into a Vault until such time as we can destroy them...
>>
>>24802385
The problem with that is a logistical one, giving time manipulation to an NPC is just asking for the story getting bend backwards on itself.

>>24802399
Sure for a fight we can stick the rings on Daliah, make sure she has Sow, and point her in a direction and just watch everything fall apart.

Risk/Reward are meant to be pair-bonded as evidenced by them being able to sense how the wielder of the other one is doing.
>>
Thread end, discuss how you'd like to split up the relics among the three of you. I'll try and answer some more meta questions about them to help your decision.

>Risk
Have to roll natural 85 or higher to have any effect. Above that threshold, whatever roll it was to augment is a natural 100. Can augment multiple rolls, but they have to be taken at the same time.

>Reward
Basically doubles a dice roll. Can only be used three times a day, intentionally. Has a latent effect that generally improves the wearers' life.

>Sisyphus
Contrary to what the relic book said, these gloves are huge unknowns. Some things get erased from happening when you use them, others no longer have an effect, but still happened. EG: A tree falls, you rewind time, the tree is standing again, but the noise still happens. The nature of it all is highly...unstable.
>>
>>24802434
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. There is no way the playerbase will give up on relics that let us turn mountains into diamond showers.
>>
>>24802442
Yeah, there's huge value in keeping Risk and Reward together.

>>24802434
>we could always stick to the plan of putting them into a Vault until such time as we can destroy them...

As suggested in a previous thread, I think using them to help others, rather than ourselves, makes them far less likely to corrupt.
>>
>>24802442
No drawback on the Risk? Not much of a risk then.
>The nature of it all is highly...unstable.
so you are saying Melissa doesn't have Reading Steiner?
>>

I say Reward on Melissa, the synergy it has with Providence is absurd.

Risk on Daliah, partially because if we take it it'll seem like we're favoring Melissa by binding ourself to her as she has the other one, partially because it fits her role well, and because it amuses me.

Sisyphus goes to us, because I don't want to imagine the horror and confusion that will precipitate from someone we as a playerbase don't control completely fucking around with time. And it's unstable. Or just stick it in a vault, that's cool with me.

Both of these, and on top of that it'll bring them closer together.

I don't see it as that challenging of a logistical problem, but I do agree that if we split up the rings in the obvious way then we should take the gauntlets.

>>24802489
I kinda like the idea of Melissa living through all our failed rolls, and it makes me incredibly sad.
We should obviously cuddle Melissa more.
>>
>>24802489
there is only one way to find out.
we must use these gloves on Melissa. thoroughly.

for science
>>
>>24802473
>no drawback on risk?

Yeah, I know. It's supposed to be kind of a last ditch "this is the only option left" kind of thing. It's especially unreliable given the nature of /tg/ dice, though, so in itself that's a drawback.
>>
>>24802442
Reward to Melissa should probably get reward. Daliah should get risk and we should keep the gloves. Although during combat I would suggest we combine them all on one person if we have the chance to.
>>
>>24802442
Do we have an idea of how many relics there are? Do we know of any Relics outside of the ones we currently have and Reap?

On a scale from 1-10 how peeved is Daliah with us and Melissa?

On a scale from 1-10 how aroused is Melissa from us punching a mountain? Should we spend more time being a bit forceful with her?

What is the cat's secret?

Will we get a chance to sit both of our wives down and give them a talking to about how they're married to each other, shouldn't be jealous of each other, are both spectacular and shouldn't bicker as much? And then tell them to kiss and make up while holding hands?

We should also cuddle with both of our wives more, just because.
>>
>>24802329
We definitely need to say something like this to Melissa before we get back. She's *still* having self-worth and jealousy problems.
>>
I vote for Melissa getting Reward, Daliah getting Risk, and the gloves for usin case of future spaghetti.
>>
>>24802535
>how many relics are there
15.
>do we know where they are?
We need to read Daliah's book more.
>how pissed is Daliah?
1/10, we left a note, and she's a pragmatic person about that sort of thing. Plus she's been busy with Rezna.
>how turned on is Melissa?
11/10.
>should we be more forceful?
Not necessarily. It's more of a "I'm banging the dude who makes mountains go away" thing than it is a "he's so strong, I bet he could hurt me" thing.
>what is the cat's secret?
The cat knows when shit is about to go down. She's the result of a lucky nat100 roll in an early thread.
>will we talk to our wives
If you ask me to in the next thread
>>
>>24802566
Only 1/10, though Melissa still owes her an apology.

Good to know about Melissa, we should spend more time without a shirt around her and carry her around.
>>
>>24802566
any idea when the next thread is going to be?
>>
>>24802566
well, to be fair, it was only half a mountain.
>>
>>24802584
POSSIBLY tomorrow around 10.

It's so hard to predict because it's based around a number of factors.
>are my kids asleep
>does my wife need attention
>am I tired
>do I need to be up early in the morning
>>
>>24802585
but we did turn it into diamond which makes up for not leveling the whole thing, also giant hole in mountain side looks cooler from a distance than lack of mountain.

>>24802595
10 4chan time I would assume?

I think this adequately represents our synergy with the blood medallion.

So when do we get our training montage?

I think I just shot our chances at smut update.
Sorry guys.

Maybe after the next thread, if you all work on the relationship.

GOD DAMNIT, MAN.
You had one shot and you blew it!
may you live with the fact that you have brought great shame upon your family name for many generations.

indeed, captcha, indeed

Well at least my critical failure didn't lead to Keith going into celibacy, I hope.
>>
>>24802659
Right people, next thread, relationship talk.

First I suggest something like >>24802329 with Melissa on the way back, something to reassure her about her worthiness and jealousy. We might need a similar talk with Daliah.

Then we sit them down together and try to get them to understand that they're not just married to us, they're married to each other as well. Possibly get them to strip in front of each other and we can tell each of them the myriad ways in which they're beautiful and we love them, preferably actually have them tell each other that. If they both realize that the other thinks they're beautiful as all hell it might deal with some of the jealousy and envy going around between them.

And then threesome. Or lesbians, either way.
>>
Rolled 86

>>24802697
Or we could not try to shoe-horn lesbians into this.
Roll for not shoe-horning lesbians.
Oh god I'm going to fuck this up.
>>
>>24802726
Lesbians is just a possible bonus for getting them to get along better. Like the frosting on a cake of a happy marriage.

They are married to each other, it's not really out the question for them to fuck each other, and threesomes ought to happen, they can share us.

Women also tend to be much less polar with their sexuality and have a greater degree of sexual and erotic plasticity.

So while I admit the core of my reasoning is because I'm a shameless pervert, it's not overly unrealistic or out of the question.
>>
>>24802817
Goddess has been pretty clear about not wanting to take this in a lesbians direction and the waifus not being jealous doesn't have to lead to lesbians, neither does threesomes.
It's not that I dislike lesbians, I'm actually a pretty big fan, but it doesn't mean we should force goddess to cater to our tastes against the characters' personalities.
>>
>>24802895
As I said, possible frosting on the cake of a happy marriage. Nice if it happens, if it doesn't happen I won't complain, there's still delicious happy marriage cake.
>>
This thread in a nutshell;
>Skeleton lying on a throne
>not trying to attack it
Goddammit /tg/, stop being retarded.

>Soap-Opera combat
Yeah....

I fucking hate these relics, I miss the actual 'farming' part of 'Harvest Moon Quest.' I mean I could understand if it was 'Moon Factory Quest'...
>>
>>24803615
>I miss the actual 'farming' part of 'Harvest Moon Quest.'
And what do you propose we do in fucking winter with a foot of snow on the ground?

And seriously? Attack the super-strong skeleton without trying to get the Relics needed to defeat it first?
