To your left is the RPG of the year: Hikikomori.

Hikikomori is a 24-hour RPG that you play by yourself.

You take the role of a "hikikomori," a jobless shut-in who wastes their life away with unproductive hobbies and obsessions.

In this RPG, you play out the daily life of your character, taking actions and rolling dice to see what mental or social complications arise.

Take the right actions and roll well enough, and your hope may very well rise up high enough to see you break out of your shell and live a good, productive life.

Take the wrong actions, and you sink into a pit of despair and hopelessness. You may very well perform a suicide attempt!

Want to start playing?

So 4chan-user simulator, right?
I'd rather not, this may lead to stuff that actually happens, let me be an escapist.

I don't think this is how hope works. You start with "3d10" as in "three dice", and roll 3d10 when a hope roll is called for, and add/remove dice when told to.

Rolled 2, 10 = 12

Let us give playing this game a more formal attempt. For the sake of expediency of demonstration, this is not going to be run quest-style; I will be calling the shots here.

First, let us come up with a basic concept for our hikikomori. Self-inserts are a time-honored tradition, so let us go with a /tg/-addicted NEET named "Fa/tg/uy."

Our Hope statistic starts at 3d10. This is not rolled at character creation; rather, it is a dice pool that represents our character's willpower to improve his lifestyle.

We get to pick out one Trait for him. Let us go with Obsessive Hobby. The Initialization section of that Trait tells us to decide on a hobby; obviously, we will go with Obsessive Hobby (/tg/). Our character does not actually play any traditional games; he merely posts about them on 4chan.

We now roll 2d10 to decide on two more Traits.
>>
Rolled 3

>>24818280

That 10 means that we have a Real Friend!

Let us examine that later though, since we rolled a 2, which means Obsessive Hobby.

At character creation, you cannot start with two of the same Trait type, so we have to roll 1d10 again.
>>
>>24818297
Awesome dude, you just got us a Rescuer, apparently someone cares about us enough to try to help us.

And we also have a Real Friend.

We're the most social Hikki ever.
>>
>>24818297

Aha, a Rescuer! We seem to be a very graced hikikomori; we have two people who appear to care for our well-being.

Shall we continue with the traits of Obsessive Hobby (/tg/), Real Friend, and Rescuer, or reroll until we receive a more depressing permutation of Traits?

A NEET, interesting.

I'd personally peg him as the normal sort compared to our /tg/ obsessed Hikki. Probably even goes outside and talk to people, hits up the local bar, lazes about, has friends outside of us. We've probably been friends of some kind for a while which explains why he knows us.

Just my take on it.

>NEET (2d10): This is short for “Not in Education, Employment, or Training.” In essence, your friend is just like you, but somewhat more sociable.

It seems that Fa/tg/uy has a kindred soul! Let us say that she is a plain-looking girl who lives in the same apartment building. Her main obsessions are Touhou, Axis Powers Hetalia, and yaoi. She knows nothing of traditional games, but that may very well change soon.

Her name is Fujoshi.

>>
>>24818507

Oooooh, a Crusader.

>Crusader (2d10): This person has some deep-rooted need to get you out of hiding at all costs, and doesn’t want to take no for an answer.

Let us say that Fa/tg/uy still lives under his working-class mother. She pays all of the bills, and she legitimately cares for him, but she is deeply frustrated with how much of an unproductive layabout Fa/tg/uy is.

So, Fa/tg/uy has the following statistics:
Hope: 3d10
Trait: Obsessive Hobby (/tg/): 3d10
Trait: Real Friend (NEET): 2d10
Trait: Rescuer (Crusader): 2d10

And now for the meat of the gameplay.

A single game of Hikikomori takes place over the course of seven days.

At the start of each day, you roll the dice pools of all of your Traits. The three Traits with the highest results act up, causing Trait Actions that must be resolved. (If you have only three Traits though, there is no point in rolling.)

AFTER those Traits are resolved, you are free to choose three Player Actions.

Day #1: Prelude to the Dark Abyss

Right, so, trait actions.

We're going to have to browse /tg/. Avoid Fujoshi. And hide from Mom.

Fortunately, he manages to restrain himself before he gets carried away. Phew.

Nah, this is more like her knocking on the door, and saying, "Honey? There's this new Japanese place in town...I was figuring we might, y'know, go out tonight? I know you're interested in sushi..."
"Uh," Oh god. Going out? What the fuck? I haven't even showered. And what would even happen? She'd try to talk to me, ask me how I'm doing. Whether I'm looking for work. Going to go back to college. No.
"S-Sorry, I'm, uh, I'm not feeling too good. Sorry mom."
"Oh. I'm sorry honey. Well, if you need anything-"
"No, I'm good! Just leave me alone," Shit, that sounded too harsh, "I, I, I don't want to get you sick too..."

And now, it is time to take three Player Actions.

Oh, wait, Fa/tg/uy's Obsessive Hobby (/tg/) sapped one of those away. So, two Player Actions.

First, fa/tg/uy attempts to Share his Obsessive Hobby. He considers the prospect of getting Fujoshi into RPGs. That way, he could... could... get her to play with him! Maybe even ERP! With a real girl! It would be a dream come true!

Fa/tg/uy gets on the IRC channel that he knows Fujoshi frequents, opens up a PM window, and hopes for the best.

We now roll Fa/tg/uy's Obsessive Hobby pool of 3d10 versus Fujoshi's Real Friend pool of 2d10.

This thread has succeeded in reminding me that I am a horrible failure of a son. I entered college for the express purpose of fulfilling my parents desires to have a child who they can brag about to relatives, despite having no aptitude in the field that was selected for me (engineering). I'm in my senior year, having barely clawed my way here with shitacular grades, I'm already hiding failed classes from them and taking more units per semester then they realize so that they won't beat/punish me for failing, and since they expect me to graduate this semester, and since I'm pretty sure I've failed my exams which were this week, and haven't completed my senior design project in time to check in by the end of semester, I'll probably have to run and end up in a shelter or finding a room to bunk in on craigslist until I can get a job to support myself.

Fa/tg/uy's 18 vs. Fujoshi's 12.

Alas, she thinks that RPGs are kind of neat (and she gets giddy upon realizing that she can RP as Russia-kun), but she is not so interested in the "game" part of "RPG." Fa/tg/uy reads her messages in the wrong way altogether, thinking that she is legitimately intrigued; he should definitely try again tomorrow!

For now, he attempts to write up a basic guide to RPGs for her, compiling information from various sources, putting a bunch of beginner-friendly RPGs in a .zip file, and so on. Come to think of this... perhaps he could post this on /tg/! That would be something productive, right?

Fa/tg/uy will now Use his Obsessive Hobby for Good, adding together his Hope dice pool and his Obsessive Hobby dice pool for a total of 6d10.
>>
>>24818860

Fa/tg/uy's diligence pays off to a small degree. Various lurkers and never-actually-played posters on /tg/ begin to take an interest in his "Babby's First RPG" thread, and it seems as though he has helped people get into the hobby in a good way!

It might not help Fa/tg/uy himself get into the game, but... he feels just a bit warmer inside.

And more obsessed. His Obsessive Hobby (/tg/) dice pool increases to 4d10.

People say that to feel better about themselves, but it doesn't do the suicidal state of mind justice and saying it doesn't really help anyone.

Suicide is scary as fuck. People who attempt it are just more scared what happens if they don't.

Yesterday I had a fly in my room. It was sort of annoying at first but then I watched it for a while and decided it was pretty cool. I mean, they're annoying and dirty right? Who likes flies? They're not even on the level of spiders where they evoke fear, they're just fucking worthless. Well, in a twisted sort of way I saw myself in that fly-bro. Just buzzing around smacking into the window over and over again trying to get outside. He was here almost all day. It was nice to have some company. In the end though I opened up my window and he flew out. I figured at least one of us could be free.

Fa/tg/uy's 31 vs. Fujoshi's 13.

>They’re won over by your hobby’s charms. If the person was a Rescuer, they become a Real Friend instead. Regardless, you gain a die to your Obsessive Hobby trait.

Fujoshi is absolutely thrilled by the prospect of getting to RP as Russia-kun, and Fa/tg/uy's "Babby's First RPG" pack is going to make it so much easier for her to get into the "game" part of "RPG"!

He offers to help her navigate the PDFs and .txt files, and they go through a long and arduous process of RPG pedagogy.

Fa/tg/uy feels his obsession grow stronger and stronger. Soon, soon... he will ERP with a real girl.

His Obsessive Hobby (/tg/) has increased to a monstrous 6d10.

And so ends the second day. Fa/tg/uy gained a bit of Hope thanks to his mother, the flames of his obsession burned brightly, and he seduced someone into the RPG fold.

Day #3: Uncharted Waters, New Frontiers

The moment fa/tg/uy rises from his ratty bed, he can hear the siren call of the Traditional Games board of 4chan. We now roll a staggering 6d10 to determine how much time it sucks up.
>>
>>24819208

And in an astonishing turn of events that surprised absolutely fucking no one, fa/tg/uy wastes away his day on /tg/.

Something immediately Fa/tg/uy's eye the moment he sets foot onto the board. A thread regarding the most infamous, vilest of /tg/ terrors: Colette.

By the time he comes to his senses, a full thirteen hours have passed.

His Obsessive Hobby (/tg/) has increased to 7d10.

Something is wrong. Fujoshi is not responding to Fa/tg/uy's private messages over IRC.

He pings her once. Twice. Thrice. What is wrong? Does she not want to begin her first foray into ERP with him?

Ping. Ping. Ping.

After a few hours of anxiety, he finally receives a message. "Sorry. Found a group to do Hetalia/Touhou crossover ERP with."

But... no... how could this be? She has a group now... something he had been longing for all this time... no. No. No!

Shockingly, losing a Real Friend does not affect Hope in any way.

So, let us add our Hope 4d10 to our Rescuer 2d10 for a total of 6d10!

What shall Fa/tg/uy's mother do...? Will she be able to cheer him up?

Time to write FATAL 2: The Maid Wars everybody.
>>
>>24819312

>25-32: You feel a little better about yourself. Gain a die of Hope.

Fa/tg/uy breaks down into tears. Why, why was this happening? Was it because he spent too much time posting on /tg/, and ignored her? Was that an excuse, or did she really find a group for herself and not invite him?

Waaaaaah. Waaaaaaaaah!

Fa/tg/uy's loud wailing and crying invites his mother, who rushes to his side and does all in her power to calm him down. She runs a hand down his back and lets her shoulder soak his tears. Once he is a little calmer, she heads over to the kitchen and fetches him some chocolate milk.

Glug. Glug. Glug. Fa/tg/uy feels considerably more composed now, and when his mother notices, she sits him down for a talk. She asks what his hobby is all about, he explains the basics, and she manages to convince him that if he loves it so much, why not try to write his own RPG and make people happy that way?

That... that seems like a good idea. Ideas begin to spark in his mind...

I think there should be caps on traits, to prevent guaranteed hope farming. I realize this is less of a game, and more of a writing aid, but the idea intrigues me.

Getting so much hope this easily kinda defeats the point of a hikikomori game, I feel. Though, to be fair, we also had a friend and a rescuer helping as well.

>>24819431

Unsurprisingly, Fa/tg/uy spends most of his day answering questions and hyping "NEET" up on /tg/. When they asked if he would set up a KS, who was he to say "No"?

Fa/tg/uy's Obsessive Hobby dice pool has increased to 9d10.
>>
>>24819427

I don't think you really need to add Hope to the Rescuer dice pool. I mean, it makes sense, but it makes things REALLY easy if you roll a Rescuer at character creation.
>>
>>24819431
Hmm, once you hit a point with Obsessive it becomes a vicious self-reinforcing cycle that leads to you being unable to break the habit or do anything. I mean at this point we have pretty much no chance of not burning two actions on it.

It's an easy thing to fall into. Given our Obsession Dice it's pretty much impossible for us to do anything but obsess, and somehow gain hope from it.

I'd normally complain about weird death spirals that are impossible to break in an RPG, but it seems oddly fitting.
>>
>>24819455
Not exactly. A rescuer can be good, bad, or average.
>>
Rolled 10, 4, 10, 1, 9, 10, 1, 10 = 55

Since fa/tg/uy no longer has a Real Friend, we now skip directly to the Rescuer Trait Action!

Just to give a recap of how far we have come.

We started off with:
Hope: 3d10
Trait: Obsessive Hobby (/tg/): 3d10
Trait: Real Friend (NEET): 2d10
Trait: Rescuer (Crusader): 2d10

During days 1 and 2, we rolled mediocrely, performed some suboptimal actions, and even forgot to add Hope to one dice pool. By days 3 and 4, we settled into an *extremely* optimal pattern and got into a groove.

We now have:
Hope: 7d10
Trait: Obsessive Hobby (/tg/): 8d10
Trait: Rescuer (Crusader): 3d10

I think I get it, the goal of this game is to make us feel good about ourselves by since it's very unlikely that you'll end up in anything other than an upward spiral; at which point, bloated on imaginary success, one of two things happen: it inspires us to break out and make it happen in reality, or become complacent and keep staying inside by rationalizing that we've already succeeded so one more day glued to the computer can't hurt...

I really wish that it's the former, but I just know that it'll be the latter. Whoever made this is some kind of diabolical genius.

Then... when we've finally reached internet stardom... she'll realize that her baby has finally emerged from his shell and, for the first time in decades, doesn't need his mother anymore. What better to do, but to let him go...?

queue gross sobbing, calls to mom with words of appreciation.

So, fa/tg/uy's Obsessive Hobby (/tg/) is now at a behemothic 9d10.

But what of Fa/tg/uy's mother? We now add our Hope of 8d10 to her Rescuer dice pool of 3d10.

Let us see what happens...
>>
>>24819668
We had a 99.96% chance of getting 19+ on that roll right now.

It's an inescapable cycle. We can't Resist it, our Hope is lower than our Obsession at this point, it's extremely unlikely that we'd beat it.

>>24819686
The big one is the Rescuer, it's pretty likely for that to lead you into a Hope Spiral, and we didn't get any really bad Traits. If you have something like Delusion, Imaginary Friend, or something along those lines it's easy to lose a die or two of Hope which'll cause you to lose more Hope until you hit 0.
>>
I feel I should note that this was written by the translator of MaidRPG and creator of Magical Burst.

He is a genius and good games flow forth from his brainmeats.

Also I have wanted to do a viral blog/vlog in the vein of lonelygirl15 with this since I first read it. I totally would, too, if I knew how to reel people in to get people to read it.

I think it'd be really interesting to see how people would react to these situations, not knowing it was a writing exercise.
>>
>>24819715

>33+ You feel better about yourself, and your Rescuer is encouraged to keep trying. Both your Hope and your Rescuer trait gain a die.

Fa/tg/uy's mother comes to him with good tidings. She has made the calls to her contacts and friends, and it seems that the publishers, editors, layout designers, and professional artists are all ready and accounted for. Everything is on schedule, and the RPG book's future is looking bright!

The two embrace one another as mother and child, and both cannot help but shed tears of joy.

Fa/tg/uy's Hope dice pool is now 9d10, and his mother's Rescuer dice pool is now 4d10.

I suppose technically we could use our one free action that is left from /tg/ing to Do Nothing and hope to get Suicidal Thoughts or something like that, but with our Hope we'd beat the shit out of those guys.

This is probably going to be the last action necessary. This is most likely it, people.

Everything is ready. All is laid out before him. It is almost surreal how quickly everything happened.

RPG books should take longer than this to go through editing and such, right? It was almost as though everything was just a highly unrealistic dream, like all dreams are...

Fa/tg/uy cleared his mind of those thoughts. He gives the go-ahead for the RPG book and seizes his destiny.

This is the height of Using his Obsessive Hobby for Good.

With Hope at 9d10 and his Obsessive Hobby also at 9d10... is there anything that can stop Fa/tg/uy now?

No, no there isn't. He has become the true beacon of nerddom,

I think that adding your Hope and Hobby dice together for that makes it way too likely to succeed and lead to an upward spiral.

And I'd say the same thing about adding your Hope and Rescuer Dice together for the Rescuer thing.

Snowballing is good and makes sense in this game but it should be harder to snowball upwards like that and easier to snowball downwards.

And so ends the fifth day. Success and victory taste like nectar.

I chose that action mainly to get our Hope to 10d10 and our Obsessive Hobby to 10d10 as well.

You see, when you have Hope at 10 dice by the end of seven days, you automatically win the game.

Now, we have two more days which we can use for whatever we want, really. It is virtually impossible to lose Hope dice at this point.

We can afford to screw around on the sixth and seventh days since we have effectively won the game.

Very much this. You don't end up a shut-in if things are this easy. You have problems, they should haunt you.

>>24819842

>>
>>24819791
It is done.

A year down the line, maybe we'll be at a con. We'll look better now, lost a bit of weight. Signing some books. We're not rich, no, but we've got a modicum of fame and respect for 'NEET.' We've got money enough for an apartment. But we got a bit too comfy- no, we're not going bankrupt, but we have to get another one done.

A rueful shake of the head, and a grin as you sign a book for some chucklefuck dressed up like a yellow and red marine who asked you to sign it as 'the cancer that killed /tg/.' You think to yourself about the possibility of calling up Mom again, maybe that was the spark that got the book rolling? No. You contemplate, staring forward a bit. It was the part where you saw the abyss that your life was going in to and embraced it. That...And something else.

"Uh, hey," A familiar voice. You glance up, blink. Trying to place this face.
"I was, ahem, I was wondering...Could you sign something else?"

She carefully sets down a Kinko's bound pile of sheets. The title page has "Babby's First RPG" at the front.

Point is, the game lures you in by your imagination and you end up at a crossroads. As much as I'd like to think most of us would take the dark and scary path out instead of the same and comfortable path back to start, I'm too much of a pessimist to believe in people (including myself).

Of course, that's probably the depression talking, but after 6 aborted attempts to break out in the last 3 months I just know that I'll send out a few half-hearted resumes and retreat back into my cave consoling myself with "tomorrow..." What sucks the most is how I know perfectly well that I can (and have) done it before but the slightest setback will just see me mentally defeating myself again; I guess I've just grown up on media that tells me everything will work out perfectly if you are the protagonist and when it didn't happen I just gave up and started thinking of myself as Extra #5.

...

Fuck, that's even more depressing on paper than in my head. I'm sorry for being a downer in this thread, just ignore my gripping and best of luck to anyone inspired by fa/tg/uy's success.

So, looking it over: Real Friend is a pretty crappy trait. There's some ways to get hope but for the most part increasing the trait just leads to losing it and so does keeping it low.
>>
>>24819874
And it all comes crashing down like a fragile house of cards and dreams getting hit by the nailbat of reality.

I'm not sure about it as a quest, I would give it try as a one-shot out of curiosity, it just seems like it is meant to be rather personal and introspective, not necessarily based on consensus.

I'm actually tempted to play this game myself and see how things turn out. I'm not going to promise anything but I might post it here if I think it turns out interesting.
>>
>>24819944
It's too constricting. It would either derail completely so where you are no longer using the rules or just end really quickly..
>>
> cheating

>>
>>24819944

>>
Looking at it over, the best thing we could have *actually* done under the rules is take a risk with our mother:

>Ignore
>You emphatically ignore your Rescuer, and hope they’ll go away. Make a roll on your Rescuer trait dice:
>1-7 She gets discouraged; reduce your Rescuer trait by one die.
>8-16 She keeps at it. Nothing happens.
>17+ She only gets more determined. Increase your Rescuer trait by one die.

After a certain point, using Ignore will continuously buff the Rescuer, turning the Rescuer into an effective engine of Hope due to their Trait Action.

Reverse psychology works wonders.
>>
>>24819944
I'm probably going to play it and write something up myself tomorrow, if I see a thread I may post what I have, but I don't think the rules would work with a legitimate quest thread.

Would anyone be interested in a second, more legitimate round of this game?

Hopefully with less "missing critical rules text" and mixing up Player Actions.

If so, should I keep the initial array of Obsessive Hobby (/tg/), Real Friend (NEET), and Rescuer (Crusader), or reroll the character creation stage?
>>

Yes, a legit round would be good.

Mix up the actions, read the rules, ect.

Keep Obsessive Hobby (/tg/), or pick another starting Trait? If so, what should it be?

Attempt a quest-style collective vote for what action to take next (which might be difficult given how many there are), or do it all by myself and attempt to cycle through every action except Do Nothing, Suicide Attempt, and Waste Time?
>>
>>24820116
You keep adding to your name my suggestions. I like that.

And yeah, I guess Bloomwriter was /tg/ obsessed. Either that or 40k obsessed.

Roll beyond that. And I'd rather it not be communal. I'll leave it to your judgement.

I'd like to point out that Waste Time and occasionally even Do Nothing can be helpful to kill spare actions when the only other actions you have involve pitting your Hope against a monstrously large trait with the end result that the trait will get even worse, and either immediately or eventually eat away at your Hope dice.

>>24820469

I notice that if you can keep your Imaginary Friend's Demeanor at a stable 7 to 9, you can potentially use it as an effective source of Hope. Its Trait Action and the Conversation Player Action both allow you to gain Hope.

Who knew that talking to an imaginary friend could be so effective?
>>
>>24820558
Do you have a friend who helps you out generally by just agreeing with you? It might be an imaginary friend acting as your subconscious!
>>
Goddamn this game is depressing, if you don't luck out with a coaxing rescuer it gets pretty hard to raise that hope and suicide just becomes a better option day by day. Fucking hell, it's like the game is telling me that if no one comes to your rescue and you have a few negative traits you might as well off yourself now and save time. I get that it's easier to pull yourself out when you have someone helping, but damn is this depressing for my forever alone ass.
>>
>>24820942
I hear ya, all the way to the mental asylum.
>>
>>24820942

Well there's no way to avoid making this sound hokey as fuck, but if you are seriously in life-imploding levels of seclusion, send me an email. I've somehow blundered through making two people's lives better by letting them talk at me on the internet so I guess it could work a third time.

If you're just an introvert who got depressed reading an RPG, then relax. The hikikowhatever's problem isn't that he's not a social butterfly, it's that he's completely friendless (so much so that having one, single friend is a special trait) and going absolutely nowhere. No education, employment, or training is different from "doesn't go to parties hardly ever and has like four close friends instead of forty distant ones."
>>
>>24821099
I appreciate the gesture, I really do, but no thanks. I already know what needs to be done to get out of here, I've done it once before and managed to keep it up for 2 years before my self-destructive tendencies dragged me back. The problem is just mustering up the willpower to take the first step again (or I guess the second step since the first is acknowledging your problem and deciding to correct it), knowing that the it'll be an endless struggle is mainly what's defeating me; I know that one step is not enough and if I go into this relying on anyone but myself I'll just end up stumbling and falling again once that person inevitably strays even a tiny bit from the idealized angel in my head.

So thank you for the offer, but if I rely on someone, that just means I don't trust myself to do it; personally, I think if you can't believe in yourself you might as well go get a head injury and spent the rest of your life with a live-in care-aid spoon feeding you gruel and wiping your ass for you. I don't mean to be harsh, and it's not like I don't see the value of having friends and trusted people to talk to, but talking when you know what needs to be done instead of doing it is just weakness, and the weak cannot walk the path I'm trying to follow.

3:00 - Another day draws to a close and as usual little has been accomplished. The futility of it all has me

thinking about just ending it all again. I start thinking about how I would actually do the deed, running through a

mental checklist of the most suitable items. My thoughts focus Increasingly on the gleaming switchblade I

received from a friend for a birthday a long time ago. I keep it on my desk and flip it sometimes when I'm feeling

dangerous. It would probably be very easy to slit my wrists or neck open with it and bleed out. I pick it up, flip the

blade out, and run my thumb along it's edge. Six inches of razor sharp metal brush against my skin and I

begin to daydream about resting peacefully in a pool of my own blood.
>>
>>24820942
Suck it up buttercup. Anything worthwhile has to be earned for it to mean anything.

You want to be handed a happy ending on a plate? Go fuck yourself, might as well save life the trouble of doing it later. If you can't do this yourself then you're just going to be back here in 3 years wailing about how your rescuer abandoned you when all they did was move on and live their own life like you should be doing.

Every man is an island. Go out and earn your happy ending with sweat and blood and I promise you, you'll never feel this way again.
>>
>>24821472
A piercing pain in my thumb quickly snaps me out of my daze. "Shit!", I yelp. The sight of my own blood sends my

pulse skyrocketing and I realize then just how scared I am of actually going through with this. Maybe some other day... I

quickly lick the blood from my hand and put the knife back onto my desk, sleep seeming like a much better idea than

fumbling around in the dark with a dangerous weapon. As I climb into bed expecting the warm comfort of soft pillows and

bedsheets, the pain in my lower abdomen flairs up again. "What the hell is that?", I wonder aloud. For a while, I lay there

wincing and rubbing desperate circles into my stomach until sleep finally takes me.

to myself as I scramble to the door with spider-like movements and plant my ear against the door. "Ey! Open up!", growls the intruder

in a low and menacing voice. I freeze with terror and consider the worst possible scenario. The disgusting state of my room

immediately comes to mind. Rank and dirty clothes litter the floor, days old bags of food and garbage are piled in the corner, and in

the center of the room stands a two liter bottle...filled to the brim with piss. "Aw fuck! If this guy sees this place he'll kick me out for

sure!", I think to myself.
>>
>>24821556
My breathing intensifies and I grab my shoulders, rocking back and forth as I dread having to move back in with Mom and Dad. Soon the

nightmare is over as I here rusty squeak of an opening door and a shaky female voice. "S-sorry, I was in the bathroom", she mutters. "You

stupid bitch! I told you to be ready before I got here!", the angry male roars. "Sorry! Please! I'm ready let's just go." she replies with a trembling

voice. The sound of a slammed door and hurried footsteps fully release me from the iron grip of terror and I slink down to the cold floor to rest.

"Fuck that was close..", I mutter to myself. I spend the rest of the day huddled on the floor, holding my knees, and staring at knife on my desk.

I'll admit, I'm often my own worst enemy. But that's how you win - you learn how to face yourself. You don't hit the branches of the problem, you drill to the core to address the problem directly. And I've been doing that, learning how to release my own internal blocks and feel better, and get even more productive.

It's not all fun and games, but I'm getting there, more than most people will do.
