>As always, you could check Einstein's data at any time: http://pastebin.com/CaAF0yS8

Your name is Heather Leery, and you're sitting in a throne made of young men and women.
That is, Robin, Damien, and Anna had all fallen asleep during your impromptu pizza-and-movie party, and you just happened to be sitting on them at the time. It was pretty late. Despite the way your internal clock said it was still early morning, at least. You stretched, and sat up, extricating yourself from the three, and made your way down to your workshop.
After a few minutes of working on Theta's personacom, trying to get the optical sensors right, Sarvesh came into the room, Omnissiah on his back. As usual, you were rather stunned to see Sarvesh so much bigger and bulkier than he was before he moulted, but now's when you realized- he was bigger, yes, as in longer limbs and wider abdomen. When you look at him for density, he was almost scrawnier.
"Morning." He said. "For me, at least."
"It is always morning for me." Omnissiah said. "Or twilight. Or midnight."
He paused.
"I never sleep, is what I was getting at." Omnissiah said.
"We know." Sarvesh said, and chuckled. "I'm almost jealous."
>>
>>24901345
"Not sleeping would be pretty cool, but you'd never have dreams, though!"

Personal challenge: Try to manifest all the parts for Theta's comm?
>>
If Summer is willing to let us use her universe losing time due to sleep could be a thing of the past. She figured out the time dilation thing she was working on!
>>
>>24901345
"You could simulate sleep. You know, to keep it fair for the rest of us."

Wait five seconds and laugh.
>>
>>24901345
itd morning for me to
>>
>>24901345
"Hey! I haven't talked to either of you in a while. Especially Omni. How've you been?"
>>
>>24901345
"I slept in a tiiiime waaarp~ so it's morning for me as well."
>>
"Not sleeping would be pretty cool, but you'd never have dreams, though!" You say, and with a significant amount of effort, manifest a few bolts. You don't quite manage the decabulator while talking, though.
"That's why I said almost." Sarvesh said. "What are you making?"
"Personacom for Theta." You said. "I slept in a tiiiime waaaaarp~, so it's morning for me, too."
Sarvesh chuckled with a buzz, and nodded.
"You could simulate sleep, Omni. You know, to keep it fair for the rest of us."
You wait a moment- and then Omni buzzed the same way Sarvesh had, chuckling.
"Hey, I haven't talked to either of you in a while. Especially Omni, How've you been?"
"Looking for Serpensal." Sarvesh said. "Me and Omni lost sight of him, and apparently he isn't on the cameras."
"I've been good." Omnissiah said. "A lot better. More... sane, I suppose. Speaking with Sarvesh, Anna, and Serpensal has helped me get more grounding.
>>
>>24901465
"Hold on, I'll find him for you."

<Serpensal! Where are you? We're worried about you.>
>>
>>24901465
Reach out and look for Serps.
>>
>>24901465
"That's good to hear, Omni."
>>
>>24901465
"That's good. I think talking to you has been helpful for Anna as well."

What the fuck did happen to Serpensal? We wore him as a hat for a while, and then... we didn't.
Oh well, try and sense him with technopathy.
>>
You reach out, seeking Serpensal.
"Hold on, I'll find him for you."
<Serpensal, where are you? We're worried about you?>
<The plant room.> Serpensal responded. You could... see him, strangely, standing on a branch in hydroponics so that he could see out of the high windows, at the sun. He was staring outward, taking in the bright blue lumiescence, absorbing it.
"He's in hydroponics." You say. "And that's good to hear, Omni."
"Also, I've earned almost a ten thousand UPA credits for myself, as well as fifteen hundred terran pounds." He added. "Stock markets waste time, when one is bored."
>>
>>24901537
"Good for you! How much did you start with?"

"Would you like an investment in Omnissiah Stocks Trading corporation?"
>>
>>24901537
"How's your brother getting on with the Hi'arra, Sarvesh?"
>>
>>24901537
"What's the exchange rate on pounds to credits these days?"
>>
>>24901537

"I guess that's one way to spend time. I prefer working on machines though"
>>
>>24901537
"You could always waste time inventing things."
>>
"Good for you! How much did you start with?"
"A thousand borrowed dollars from you." He said. "I've already reimbursed your account."
"What's the exchange rate on pounds to credits these days?"
"A matter of one to two percent." Omnissiah said.
"Well, that's one way to spend time. I prefer working on machines, though." You say. "You could always waste time inventing things."
"It gets boring, at times." Omnissiah said.
You turn to Sarvesh. "And how's your brother getting on with the Hi'arra, Sarvesh?"
"He's been more busy with his child." Sarvesh said.
"Do you know if it is male or female yet?" Omnissiah asked.
"The carpace plates come in through radioscopy, but the mother doesn't want to put the child at risk." Sarvesh said.
>>
>>24901671
you could always ask Theta if you want. He probably knows from seeing him. He mentioned a bio-sense to me once.
>>
>>24901671
"What are you hoping for, Sarvesh? A boy or a girl?"
>>
>>24901671
"Wanna make a friendly wager, Sarvy?"
>>
>>24901671

"she or he's still adorable and cute i hope, got any recent pictures?"

<Serpensal, do you have everything you need?>
>>
>>24901671
"Oh, Omni. I can do this weird new power, and it's related to you, or those red spheres, apparently."
>>
<Serpensal, do you have everything you need?>
<There is nutrient water in here, as well as sunlight, and warmth. I am comfortable here.>

"What are you hoping for, Sarvesh? A boy or a girl?"
"A boy. I'm hoping for a nephew. Pheles wants a neice."
"You could always ask Theta if you want."
"It seems to me like Theta is always asked to do various things, due to his abilities." Sarvesh said.
"He or she's still adorable and cute, I hope. Got any recent pictures?"
"I do! His mandibles came in!" Sarvesh said, and projected his personacom against the wall. There you saw the centaur cocoon, its' pincers and mandibles waggling- its' mandibles had shells now, you saw, as it nommed on a banana, completely shredding it entirely, mushing it and covering it's face.
Sarvesh made a low whistle- something that your mind interpreted... as a squee?
>>
>>24901774
"I've never heard you make that sound before, Sarv."
>>
>>24901774
Join the crabcake in squeeing.
>>
>>24901774
"What a cute lil' fella."
>>
>>24901774

"adorable~!"

"Theta's ability is really great but i agree, I've been asking a lot from him lately. That's partly why I'm building him a new personacom."
>>
"Adorable!" You say, as the centaur started to shred the peel as well. "I've never heard you make that sound before, Sarv."
"I make plenty of sounds." Sarvesh said, somewhat awkwardly. "Sometimes to extremely cute babies."
"Theta's ability is really great, but I agree, I've been asking a lot from him lately. That's partly why I'm building him a new personacom."
"That is a good endeavour." Sarvesh said. "And that's actually good timing, too. Look what I have!"

He reached into a box in the corner of the workshop, and you saw a long, curled up bit of cloth. He unrolled it, and plugged it into his own personacom, then held his lower hands out.
"These just came in. They use sound waves for actual haptic typing." He said. "So you can feel the controls. They're working on a way to port console games into personacoms, because of this."
>>
>>24901908
"Oh my god! It's out this soon?!? How much are they and where can I get them?"
>>
>>24901908

examine the cloth

>mostly because i didn't understand half of what Sarvesh said
>sadly.
>>
>>24901908
"Wow. That's damn cool. Mind if I try?"
>>
>>24901908
"Ohhh, that'll be damn fun when they do. Played the new Demiurg Commander recently?"
>>
"Oh my god! It's out this soon!?" You ask.
You examine the cloth- it had multiple pads inside, and vibrated softly.
"No, higher." Sarvesh said, and raised your hands a bit above the cloth. Suddenly, you could almost feel the keys of one of those old, old physical keyboards, from back when you spent a few weeks cleaning out mom's old mechanic bay for anything of use. You could feel the keys, almost.
"Here." Sarvesh said, and hit a key. His personacom's projector oriented on your eyes, and you could see his display. It was *exactly* like one of those old keyboards. Nonphysical, but you could still feel it. You test out a few keys, and it even made the click noise.
"And there are also sculptures and stuff." Sarvesh said, and pressed a few other keys. Above the keyboard, a sculpture of a centaur appeared, and you reached up and... felt her shell, complete with the contours, ridges, and even the pokey bits on the ends of her pincers.
"How much are they and where can I get them?"
"I got an online friend to send me a half dozen." He said. "They're not out until sometime next week, but you can have one now."

"... It would not be hard to install two of those into Surya, for haptic cockpit control." Omnissiah said.
>>
Yes,
>>
>>24902001

what are the downsides to these?
>>
>>24902001
"Let's start with one, for now, and I'll see if I can duplicate the effect. I bet I can do better; these only give you the feeling of the keys, but your fingers can still go right through them. A projected solid object would be much better. I think I could adapt the shield technology for that; not like it has to apply much force to feel completely solid to a finger, compared to a high-energy projectile."
>>
>>24902001
"That is an idea that I love. Let's do it. Can I buy another from you, Sarvesh?"
>>
>>24902001
"Let's stick with the tried and tested technology where our lives depend on it."
>>
>>24902001
"You should really start a business for all these great ideas, Omni. You've got that bubble-drive smoothing program and shield generators as immediately marketable products."
>>
>>24901671
I feel bad for Omni, now; he's entirely capable of becoming a one-AI singularity, and very nearly did for us once, and now he's bored.
>>
>>24902001
I can have one? Great!

>Begin disassembly immediately
>>
>>24902001
"In addition to manual control like what we use at the moment?"
>>
"In addition to manual control, like what we use at the moment?"
"Yes, of course." Omnissiah said. "I'm speaking mostly of feedback. If you can feel the atmosphere scanners, for example, it would be simpler and easier than using the display."
"That is an idea that I love." You say. "Let's do it. Can I buy another for you, Sarvesh?"
"Sure." Sarvesh said. "Only a few hundred credits or so." He said.
"You should really start a business for all of these great ideas, Omni. You've got that bubble-drive smoothing program, and shield generators as immediately marketable products."
"Should I?" Omnissiah said. "I'd likely need citizenship, first, and due to my nature, I'm not sure how easy it will be..."
You felt him reach out to the extranet for a few moments.
"It seems we'd need to act as if I was made by someone here, as there is no precedent for recovered AIs." He said. "Heather, would you be my mother? I'll pay for the licenses."

"It might not be wise to start selling the shield generators straight away. It'd probably be bad if ArmaTek got a hold of them."

"I'd like nothing more.

"Absolutely... son." Wipe tear from eye. "They grow up so fast."

Omnissiah was quiet, and Sarvesh chuckled.
"But moooom, I haven't chosen a gender yet." Omnissiah said, and Sarvesh started giggling more. "Alright, here's the forms."
You look through things, and realize something- most of the rules and regulations were... moral issues. You couldn't torture him, or force him to think for you, and had to pay him for his work...
Then you start to sign.
Some time later, Omnissiah was connected to his power dock, camera off, doing work on the extranet, while Sarvesh worked on the haptic feedback panels. You, meanwhile, were working on Theta's personacom. But what would be interesting is if you manifested all the parts...

Oh god.
>>
>>24902307

probably not without some serious modification.
>>
With your will and raw mindpower, you create the cameras, servos, and electronics with your raw mind, imagining them into existence.

That's when you realize. Seeing Summer's manifestation with your awareness...
It had made things easier for you to use the power the same way. Now that you knew it was pouring power into your own imagination, it wasn't hard to imagine something and Manifest it.

That all done, you fit glass lenses to the camera and projector, and put on a non-manifested shell on the outside, connecting non-manifested ports to the sides. When it was done, the trilobyte-shaped personacom was complete. It chittered as you turned it on.
"That's impressive." Sarvesh said, looking down to his upper armband personacom, with just a shapeless curved case. "You ever try to sculpt?"
>>
>>24902416
"No, why?"
>>
>>24902416

Welcome to Psion Quest. Been here long?
>>
"Not really." You say. "I've always expressed myself through manufacturing."
You manifest some clay, and start trying to sculpt.
"Want me to manifest a shell for your personacom?"
"Nah, I'll just work on one in my own time." Sarvesh said.
You finish a badly-mauled centaur face not long later.
Sarvesh struggled to giggle, and you looked over to where he'd completed a sculpture you, complete with your mechanic's jumpsuit and a wrench in hand.
"I sculpt. Quite a bit." He said. "Here I'd bake it and paint it with grease, but I'm too lazy."
>>
>>24902591
>"and paint it with grease, but"
>Correction!
>"and paint it, including black bits for grease, but"

>>24902591

>>
>>24902591
Manifest a mini-Sarvesh, like the mini Summer and Max that Summer does. Hopefully he'll be as adorable as the baby we went to see.
>>
>>24902591
Reach out with manifestation, and use it to tweak our badly mauled centaur face to look like Sarvesh (including paint), to return the favor.
>>
>>24902591

look at his sculpture, than back to ours

"looks good, mine needs a little more work."
>>
>>24902662
It'd be the first time we manifested something living, but between clairsentience and Heather's past reading material on centaurs, she ought to be able to pull that off.
>>
>>24902669
We could do that with TK. Which we've been neglecting to train for a while.
>>
>>24902681
>>24902669
Both of these. "Or I could just cheat."
>>
>>24902694
TK doesn't necessarily give the ability to sculpt something to look exactly like imagination, any more than fingers do, though it might allow for more precision.
>>
>>24902591
Here's an idea: make the clay very soft (though not runny), and technopath the haptic feedback engine to use sound waves to shape the clay exactly like one of its projections. Then generate some heat to bake it in place, and manifest some paint.

With our powers combined, Heather is (Pirate) Captain Sculptor!
>>
"That's pretty good!" You say. "Seems like everyone has a hobby here."
"I don't know what Jilly's hobby is." Sarvesh said. "And I'm scared to think of Robin's hobby." He said.

You look at the sculpture of Sarvesh's head.
"Or, I could just cheat." You say, and slowly reach out with TK to shape the clay into something much more accurate. It was easier with an infinite amount of fingers without thickness, come to think of it, and you could always feel Sarvesh's head to make it accurate.
"... Or you could just cheat." Sarvesh said- and then you got an idea.

You could make a miniature version of Sarvesh.
You close your eyes, and focus...

Careful what you wish for; thinking too hard about that and rolling like we did, lil'Sarvesh will probably start humping legs.
>>
And, for a moment, an actual sarvesh appeared, pre-moult form. He was actually a lot lighter than Sarvesh was now, and his hydraulic arm even had the danger stripes on the pincer. Sarvesh chuckled.
"I'm so tiny!" He said, and gently patted the chuckling miniature sarvesh on the head.

Mini-sarvesh screamed.
And screamed, his legs melting like ice on a heater, brown paint running along the workshop. He writhed, melting into a puddle.

Finally, there was nothing left but the mechanical arm, twitching uncontrollably, until it started to rust quickly.

"... Well." Sarvesh said, quietly. "Now I'm going to have nightmares."

Demanifest the remains.

"Oh my god." You say, and take a step back. "I- I didn't mean for that to... to h-happen." You say, as the rust turns into dirt. You quickly demanifest it, and shiver, tearing up.
Sarvesh pulled you into a warm, leathery hug.
"That's fine. It's fine." He said, hugging you. "That's pretty much what happens when one moults, except we do it from the inside out instead of bottom up."
>>
>>24902990
..."And now I'm going to have nightmares, too. Revenge is sweet, eh Sarvesh?"
>>

>>
>>24902990

"Thanks... I think I'll have nightmares too..."

"But you don't melt away!" You say.
"We kinda do. When we moult, the pressure inside our shells increase so much that it cracks, and we kind of... hiss out."
"I can see why you're trying to never moult again, then." You say. "I think I'll have nightmares too.
"It's not as bad as you're thinking." He said. "It's not very painful at all, except the end bit. It's almost like... having a nice stretch, in a way. And it's been a tried and true metamorphic system for years and years. But don't worry. It'll be fine. Mini-Sarvesh couldn't actually feel anything. he wasn't real, else he wouldn't have gone so wonky."

<Everything alright, Omni?>

You focus, and hone in on Omnissiah, and...

Perception twisted sideways.

All time was impossibly ancient, billions and trillions of years before you, and billions and trillions of years sat ahead of you. You were on a sea, with currents and eddies of time, swirling about and around you.

You were going to die, you knew. You knew it more than you'd known anything else. Everyone would. The moment you took your first breath, you were fated to stop.
You could feel that surety beneath you, in the form of Sarvesh, but that wasn't your focus this time, you faintly remembered. You peered upon Omnissiah.

A cold machine. He had thought, but that was it. He was a machine running through its program.
You knew he would never acquire true, intrinsic psionic ability. And that was it. That was all you could sense.
You opened your eyes again, and Sarvesh of the subsubsubtribe of SoCal Kzzllklk, gave you a worried look.
"Your eyes don't look right." Sarvesh said. You could feel worry come through the empathic connection he erected with you. "Are you okay?"

Never on his own, or never without help? With enough understanding of psionic powers, I see no reason why we he couldn't have a manifested or grown biological auxiliary brain with psionic powers he could control.

In any case, we need to poke at this feeling further, to try to get a better innate understanding of how psionics work, and why they wouldn't in his case. What about biological minds is so special?
>>
Is it just me or is Heather just Ishelda 1.5?
>>
"Aw man, what happened to them, Sarvesh of the subsubsubtribe of SoCon Kzzllklk"?" You ask. "Seems every time I try to unravel the mysteries of creation it messes with my eyes."
"They're... iridescent." He said, stunned. What he was seeing wasn't physical, you knew, but a psionic side-effect of you utilizing your power. "That's really weird how you said my tribe. Are you using your new power?"
You nod.

And somewhere, deep within your mind, you were equating your strangest powers... And your strange Knowledge corrected you;
The creation of the black holes- those telekinetic spheres of power- was precisely the same thing as creating the crystals, merely through different methods.
And then that Annihilation, and the *true* Void were the same thing.
The first leg to your trinity.
Conversion.

And then you peer deeper into Omnissiah, trying to see closer into him...
Three things was needed for psionics, you saw. A mind, sapience, which he had... A body, with the brain and proper epigenetic structure, and-

And your perception shattered, returning to normal. You sway, a bit, and rub at your eyes, but you felt fine.

>>
>>24903698

>>

"... That was a weird one." You say, and finish typing out what you'd learned, sending it to Manus. Strange. It had almost... peered into your subconscious to correct you. "Dang, I almost had it. Seeing you and Omni together, I was right on the edge of knowing what's needed for psionics."
"You might want to tell someone about that."
"It lets me know about objects or people. I could see which tribe you hail from, and how your powers work." You say, though you realize that it almost said which tribe he hailed from as a ... side-note, as if it weren't very relevant. "I could also learn a lot of new things about my own abilities."
"That would be pretty helpful." He said. "And you can sense powers? Like... Max and Lin? Though maybe more of an active thing than a passive one, or something."
>>
>>24903835
"Not.. sense, in a way. I Know about them."
>>
>>24903670
Hmmm. I think we're on the cusp of the new General Relativity here. Judging by what we've seen so far, space, time, and thought are all dimensions of the same thing, and matter, energy, and thought are inter-related by some laws we have yet to discover. We're not really finding ways to violate fundamental physical laws like conservation of energy, we're just not seeing the whole system. If you look at a refrigerator as a closed system without looking at the air around it, it looks like a violation of energy conservation too, but when you look at the whole system it is consistent. We're only seeing part of the system here, which is why it seems like we can create energy from nothing.
>>
>>24903835
"Not just sense. It gives me an innate understand of them."

"Apparently I have three big ones. One is Conversion. One gives everything a mind, and the last is the knowledge one."

Its conversion. manipulation, and knowledge.Telepathy is Knowing thought. Telekinises is manipulating position. Conversion is changing something into something else. Such as manifestation.
>>

Okay, so
Not-Technopathy (Awakening and talking to things, possible name Awakening?)
Knowledge (Knowing things)

Sarvesh blinked.

"Are... Centaur tribes important?" You ask.
"They used to be, pre-spaceflight." Sarvesh said. "Subsubtribes are kind of important for religion, but other than that, not particularly. Apparently my family used to be prime worshippers of a small spirit named Kalshkad, the one who builds. Technically, Pheles could go be a priestess of Kalshkad, if she wanted.

"Huzzah, cute, important religious figures! Besides, priestesses are always the hot slash cute ones! She'd be perfect! Do priestesses get to wear pretty decorations?"
"They do, yeah. Even actual clothing. Priests do as well. Apparently, the biggest priestesses, of Leviathan and such, took two days to put on all their paint and clothing, while Pheles would wear a loincloth over her torso, maybe a mantle, and that would be it. Though I know she'd paint herself all day."
"Huh." You say. "Wanna go install those feedback panels on Surya, now?"
"Yes, I would." Omnissiah said, and Sarvesh nodded.

Some time later, the panels were installed, and you were leaning up against the wall, your eyes blurry. They'd been getting worse and better on and off for the past few minutes- likely sideeffects of your Knowledge.
"Feedback panels have been installed. I'm programming them to understand the display panels' output now. Come help me test this." Omnissiah said. The panels started to hum, so you stepped forward-
And feel something hug you.

"And I hope you don't mind Bob being on board. He's working to save Alex's parents."
"It was kind of startling when we came in and that big blob was just... there." Sarvesh said.
"Our power is functionally infinite, due to the way the breeder reactor uses fuel. We'll only need a refueling for it if he were to use it for years."

You look out the door, to where Devourer was strewn across the wall, as before.

"Will they be the same as before they were shot?"
"Yes. Otherwise, I will not be finished." Bob said.
"And have you met your older brother, Omnissiah?"
"... Brother?" The devourer asked. "No, I haven't. Hello."

This, but: what's the non-human-biased term for "becoming more human", or developing more empathy, or otherwise becoming a good and decent person?

"Aww, okay." You say. "Anything you would like to try, Devourer? No psionics, though." you say, and giggle.
"Anything you will eat, I can." He said.
"Alright! Midnight lunch, here we come!" You say.
"We'll be back, you two." Sarvesh said, and the two of you make your way to the cafeteria. You find Summer in the cafeteria, eating, and standing on the table in front of her was her own tanned golden manifestation, manifesting on different sets of clothes, and showing off, twirling about in front of Summer.
She noticed you, and waved, showing off her flitty skirt- and no shirt, you notice.
"Hey." She said.

Hey! We're gonna eat in Surya. Keep Devourer and Alex's parents company. You're welcome to join us.

"Hey." You say, and give her a thumbs up. "We're going to eat in Surya. Keep Devourer and Alex's parents company. You're welcome to join us."
"Alright!" She said.
Sarvesh came in- and froze.
"Erm, Summer, your manifestation is only in a bra."
Summer grinned. "Why, want me to take it off~?"
Sarvesh carefully stepped backward. "I'll, um, give you some privacy, then."
She giggled, and manifested a thin white blouse. "I'm kidding." She said. "Let's have sandwiches for lunch!"
"Yes, I haven't made sandwiches in ages!" Sarvesh said. "We normally don't like them."
Some time later, Sarvesh, you and Summer had plates of sandwiches, all of which Sarvesh put on his abdomen, and the three of you started to walk back.
"So what was that?" Sarvesh asked.
"Me playing Dress Up." Summer said, riding on herself.

"We should play dress up some time. Though I haven't been swimming at all lately. Sure, I burn calories with psionics, but that's not actual exercise. I hope I still look good in a bikini."
"I've never played dress up," Sarvesh said.

Summer looked him up and down, and grinned. A moment later, she standing on his back, was stuffing a massive, four-armed T-shirt over him, and trying to figure out how to make jeans that worked with his strange, spider-crab-esque legs, as he continued to walk.

Try to stifle a giggle. "I think I'll need to design the pants to get something that works, it's an engineering problem not a fashion one."

Pull out a drawing tool on our personacom and engineer some pants that work considering his legs and aren't that hard to put on. We might have to put in straps and buckles for it to be possible.
>>
>>24905393
"Hmmm. Upside: Sarvesh wearing tight Summer-made jeans. Downside: Sarvesh wearing pants."
>>
>>24905393

>>
>>24905450

>>24905450
Both of these.
>>
You giggle. "I think I'll need to design the pants to get something that works. It's an engineering problem, not a fashion one." You say, and pull up your personacom. After a short time (the haptic panel is really cool), you have what you think might work- four long, pant legs, completely disconnected, that you have to belt together over his carapace. You pull it up, and show it off to Summer, and she giggled. "Hold still." She said, and staring at your personacom, nodded, and focused. Soon enough, the pants appeared, and she started to tug them onto Sarvesh.

While they were sitting there, you look out at Sarvesh and Summer, and consider trying to look at them with Knowledge, except for biologically rather than psionically...

And when you start to focus, your head swims, badly, and color started to bleed out of the world. Your fingertips went numb.
You couldn't even *try* it, with Knowledge. That must not be what it's meant for. Luckily, though, your perceptions came back by the time Summer was finished dressing up Sarvesh. He was in a button-up dress shirt, with a belt around his waist, and pants strapped to his pant legs. He had enormous shoes over his thorned hooves, and Summer was pulling a tie around his neck and shining his head dome, while a second Summer manifestation was shining his carapace.
>>
>>24905534
You're mistaken, Knowledge. We're the Psion, we tell you what to do. That's what Psionics is all about.

Pout at Knowledge, and try again.
>>
>>24905534
OK, it's becoming clear that Clairsentience or Claircognizance is too broad a name. This is more like metapsionics, the ability to see how thought shapes the world.

Help buff his carapace. Take pictures of this whole event. "You look very classy Sarvesh, very classy indeed.

Designing clothes to work with your abdomen is difficult, maybe some sort of kilt thing would work next time.

You give him a wolf whistle, and both human Summers giggled. "Looks perfect." You say. "Upside: Sarvesh wearing tight Summer-made jeans. Downside: Sarvesh wearing pants."
"But I don't even normally wear anything." Sarvesh said, and pouted.
"Designing clothes to work with your abdomen is difficult." You say, and start to take pictures. When Summer saw you were taking pictures, she giggled- and both of her manifesations were suddenly in sleek dresses, lounging over him. "Man, if both of you are this classy, I ought to be wearing a dress."
Summer giggled, and a dress appeared in a bag next to you.
"Sleeping in a time warp leaves so much time for shenanigans!" She said, as you dove into your room to change, put on makeup, pantyhose, high heels, the whole nine yards. When you come back out, making sure to over-sway your hips, Summer gave you a whistle.

>Of course!

"You coming to the ship, handsome, or are you just going to stand there?"
Sarvesh stammered something, and held out an upper elbow. Summer took it, and you took his tie.

Summer started sending you a telepathic message- but it was just giggling. She was giggling uncontrollably, trying to keep it together as best she could.

Eventually, you reached the ship, and Devourer looked much smaller, with a roughly humanoid form connected to the biopods with a thick, armored tendril. The form was sitting there, made of the same dry, leathery tendrils... and the largest, toothiest maw you'd ever seen. He truly had the title of Devourer with that face. Omnissiah was simply talking about how things had been on the station, and then he turned to you when he noticed you.

"I can't fit a tuxedo on him, but..." Summer said, and put a tie on him instead.
"Devourer, put on an appropriate smile!" you say, as a top hat appeared in your hands. You put it on his head, and when Devourer gave you the toothiest grin possible, you couldn't help but giggle.
"No monocle or bowler for me?" Omnissiah asked, and Summer giggled, manifesting a bowler hat onto Omnissiah's dronehead, and putting the monocle up to his camera, twisting it on like a lens.

"Now, let's eat!" Summer said, sitting down. Her manifestation took a big bite of a manifested sandwich, and Sarvesh brought in the rest.

"As far as we can figure, he's a bodiless intellect that... sustains his own body with biokinesis. Somehow." Keen said, and shrugged.
"I hardly understand it myself. I had no intellect before I devoured several demiurg and gained their telepathy." Devourer said. "Before that, I was a being of instinct."
Then he paused.
"... Also, I apologize, Summer. I understand now that you were trying to protect her."
He paused again.
"Thank you."
"No problem, big guy." Summer said, and lay her tiger head on one of his tendrils.

The councilors are all pretty eccentric types. Especially Manus, when he's not running from Neva. Poor Max's job is to keep them all in line."
He shrugged.
"Tell me what you've learned, Keen." You say.
"As Manus always says, we're pretty much working with magic." He said, and shrugged. "Magic never makes sense. But what I figure is that... well... we're working with new laws of physics." He said. "You hear of all the Interstellar Life Hypotheses?" He asked, and you nod. "All life seems to be like they're aiming for something. My theory is that they're aiming for sapience... so that they can aim for *psionics*, and the whole DNA system is the easiest way to go for it."
He shrugged. "Or something, at least. Gimme another sandwich."

And then you give him another sandwich, and eat away.

>>24906535
Tough choice. Keen?
>>
>>24906535
Keen.
>>
>>24906535
Serpensal, or Sarvesh since we haven't interviewed him in a long time and he's all dressed for the part now.
>>
>>24906535
Hmm, difficult decision, but I'm going to go with Keen.
>>
>>24906635
>Serpensal it is!

<Warm. Many things here. Questions?>
>>
>>24906535
Hmmm. Hard choice between Omni and Serpensal, but I feel like Serpensal is the one we know far less about, and an interview might help there.
>>
>>24906665
<Is the "warm" you perceive around people the same as the warm you once derived from stars?>
>>
>>24906665
How are you enjoying your new position in life?

Who's your favorite person you've met so far?
>>
>>24906665
What's your favourite type of sunlight?
>>
>>24906665
Why do you like warmth?
Are there different types of warm? Which one is your favourite?
What did the Alium who saved you do for a living? What sort of science?

Breasts or Butts?
>>
>>24906665
Does the sunlight from different stars 'taste' different?
>>
>>24906696
>Breasts or Butts?
Pseudopods, obviously.
>>
>>24906712
I assume we'll get an answer depending on which is the most comfortable and warm to nestle up to.
>>
>>24906665
<Is there something you hope for, that you don't think you'll be able to achieve alone?>
>>
>>24906677
<No. Two types of warm. Thermal warmth, and light warmth. Thermal means people. Also kindness.>

>>24906681
>How are you enjoying your new position in life?
<A lot. I can rest, without thinking.>
>Who's your favorite person you've met so far?
<Summer. She is like her namesake.>

>>24906690
<Blue light is the tastiest.>

>>24906696
>Why do you like warmth?
<Biological necessity, first of all, for optical warmth... Empathy, and kindness, and personhood, for thermal warmth.>
>Are there different types of warm? Which one is your favourite?
<I just explained the two, and I prefer the latter.>

>What did the Alium who saved you do for a living? What sort of science?
<She was a healer. Very, very rare for one not to be a Flare.>

>Breasts or Butts?
<The former. They're warmer. If you're speaking of sexual attraction, I prefer psuedopods.>

>>24906763
<I have achieved everything I have ever desired to.>
>>
>>24906842
><I have achieved everything I have ever desired to.>
Even Pseudopods with Summer?
>>
>>24906842
>Breasts are warmer than butts
You're not going deep enough.
>>
>>24906885
>>24906888
>it begins
>>
>>24906842
<What property of light, and blue light in particular, do you derive value from? Do you know the biological mechanics of it?

Do you feel light warmth while inside any of Summer's pocket universes?>
>>
>>24906842
What are you planning on doing from now on since you've achieved what you want?

Of any of the Psionic powers which would you want the most? Which do you think would fit you the best?

What do you think of humanity so far? What about Centaurs and Nagala?

What are your impressions of Heather as well as anyone else who has particularly stuck out for you?
>>
>>24906842
Best kind of blends of nutrient water?

If you were returned to your original body, would you seek out your family?
>>
>>24906842
><I have achieved everything I have ever desired to.>
<You don't fool us; you're going through a dangerous pseudopod withdrawal.>
>>
>>24906842
Do you sleep? and for that matter, do you dream?
>>
>>24906842
If you could have one psionic power, clone style, which would you have?

Have you met Bob? he's full of squiggly bits.
>>
>>24906842
<What is it about pseudopods that does it for you? Any kind of pseudopod, or something in particular?

Is Bob turning you on?>
>>
>>24907002
><What is it about pseudopods that does it for you? Any kind of pseudopod, or something in particular?
I'll second that.
>>
>>24906905
>What property of light, and blue light in particular, do you derive value from? Do you know the biological mechanics of it?
<Blue light is more satisfying to consume. It is a personal taste. As for the biological mechanics, it is similar in nature to photosynthesis.>

>Do you feel light warmth while inside any of Summer's pocket universes?
<I have not been inside any of her pocket universes, yet.>

>>24906913
>What are you planning on doing from now on since you've achieved what you want?
<To rest, and relax. I am retired, now.>

>Of any of the Psionic powers which would you want the most? Which do you think would fit you the best?
<Telepathy. My mind is slow, sometimes, but wide and deep.>

>What do you think of humanity so far? What about Centaurs and Nagala?
<You are all interesting in your own ways, though my people would be very disturbed by nagala reproduction. Your computers are slow.>

>What are your impressions of Heather as well as anyone else who has particularly stuck out for you?
<My impression of Heather is that she is very... warm. Caring, Kind. She treats many people as if they were her family.>

>>24906914
>Best kind of blends of nutrient water?
<There are no particular blends. Nebulae are universally tastier than what I consume now, though.>

>If you were returned to your original body, would you seek out your family?
<My pod is long gone. It is unlikely they are anywhere near. It is sad to say it, but I will never meet them again.>
>Continued!
>>
>>24906920
<No, I have not.>

>>24906980
<I can if I wish, and I do. My dream last night was that of primitive humanity, peering up at the sky as I soar above, in my proper body. I woke up soon after.>

>>24906987
>If you could have one psionic power, clone style, which would you have?
<I already answered that.>

>Have you met Bob? he's full of squiggly bits.
<I have not. Who is bob?>

>>24907002
<... It is the sort that my people bear, diametrically opposed from our lattices, translucent as the lattices are. It is the feeling of... belonging. Of fusing into one being for a time, snuggling close to them, feeling them enter your pores as you enter theirs. Who is Bob?>
>>
>>24907028
>my people would be very disturbed by nagala reproduction
EVERYONE is disturbed by nagala reproduction.

How did you cope with being alone for so long, on the ship?

>>24907069
Bob is squiggly.
You really need to follow Heather around more, all the interesting things happen to her.
>>
>>24907069
Bob is Heather's kid, kinda, in a weird psionic way. He's also called the Devourer.

She accidentally made him from a single cell, and he's pretty much a self sustaining Biokinesis machine that doesn't need a body to survive, can recreate himself, and makes himself a body that changes according to his whims and is pretty much impossible to kill.

He used to be a jerk then Heather gave him Empathy.

You'd like him.
>>
>>24907069
How did you eat nebulae? Can you still eat it?

If Heather were to strap a ramscoop to Surya and drive through a nebula, would that work?
>>
>>24904472
Just realized what Omni said in this post here. Didn't we have a big fusion reactor onboard?
>>
>>24907099
>How did you cope with being alone for so long, on the ship?
<Old, old memories.> Serpensal said, quietly. <My time on that ship was less than a third of my entire lifetime.>

>>24907116
>>24907099
>You'd like him.
<Would I? I will have to meet him, and follow Heather around as you explain.>

>>24907126
>How did you eat nebulae? Can you still eat it?
<Between our lattices were our membranes. They consumed liquid for us, within pockets. Now, I cannot, as I have no membranes>

>If Heather were to strap a ramscoop to Surya and drive through a nebula, would that work?
<No. Taste isn't everything. I have lost the capability of sensing nebulae texture. My favorite was nebula within an asteroid belt, and rings of planets. That was why I got caught within Valk planet.>
>>
>>24907166
><No. Taste isn't everything. I have lost the capability of sensing nebulae texture. My favorite was nebula within an asteroid belt, and rings of planets. That was why I got caught within Valk planet.>

<Is that a capability you'd like to get back? Because Heather and her friends are pretty good at accomplishing the impossible, when they set their minds to it.>
>>
>>24907166
Well, you might not like him, but he is another spacefaring biothing, so at least you'd have some common ground.
He's really young, though, only a few weeks old.

I'm having trouble visualising your body, can you show us a picture?
Were you big enough to eat asteroids and planets, or did you just eat dust?
>>
>>24907166
Wow, you're very old.

Would you like to be able to taste nebulae again?

What is your favorite thing about the Valk? Do they give good hugs?

What did you think when Heather first contacted you?
>>
>>24907166
Do you recall any space-oddities you came across in your life?
>>
>>24907187
We have to be careful to let him keep his new, quick, mind. Else he'll go slow and dumb again, and nobody wants that.

<Perhaps. If it were possible, but I would be too large to do anything else.>

>>24907199
>He's really young, though, only a few weeks old.
<He does sound interesting. I will need to remember.>

>I'm having trouble visualising your body, can you show us a picture?
<A good part of being created by a species of optically communicating creatures makes it easy for me to send images. I have attached it to this message- though I had forgotten the eighth limb.>

>Were you big enough to eat asteroids and planets, or did you just eat dust?
<Just dust, and smaller asteroids. The larger ones could be crushed, though.>

>>24907201
>Wow, you're very old.
<I am.>

>Would you like to be able to taste nebulae again?
<Yes.>

>What is your favorite thing about the Valk? Do they give good hugs?
<Their enthusiasm- the Enlightened, at least- was a complete change from what I was used to.>

>What did you think when Heather first contacted you?
<That I was going mad.>

>>24907215
<I do not, no. I believe that my pod once entered a pulsar system. The lack of nebula meant we would dry up and burn away, but the taste was so delicious... That was a wonderful dozen years.>
>>
>>24907425
<Would you still get the same enjoyment out of it if you had a body similar to what you once had, but sized more like your current form?>
>>
>>24907425
When Heather first made contact, how were you able to tell she was there, watching the ship? Is this what you meant when you said she was like a beacon?
>>
>>24907425
>Space Heptapus
My sides.

Not the most artistically minded, are we?

What's your favourite movie?
How many limbs do you have now?
Does your robot-scorpion body thing have a stinger?
>>
>>24907478
<No. Too small, not enough nebulae. Not the right scale.>

>>24907536
>Not the most artistically minded, are we?
<I was used as an assistant to scientists, not Flashes. And I did have eight limbs, though I had forgotten to add the eighth when I made this, and it would have been too cumbersome to restart.>
>What's your favorite movie?
<I have hardly seen any of note. The play 'Gods of Light And Dark' back home was entertaining, though.>
>How many limbs do you have now?
<Four, as well as my head.>
>Does your new body have a stinger?
<No.>

>>24907520
<It was... cold, being alone. Empty. Nothing. Hiding behind shadows, in the void between stars. Nothing, nothing, nothing, for an eternity. I started... hoping. And then, a thousand years later, a beacon came to me.>

<After the eternal darkness, even a wisp of light was enough.>

>And that's it!
