Your name is Jake Crocker and yesterday you had a bitching party and said your goodbyes, because you just left for Ambat.

The Space Fortress Ambat is 18 hours away, the mining, early warning, and the possible lab outposts are 8 hours away. Two hours before your arrival at the outposts a briefing will be held.

You have six hours to get ready. What would you like to do Jake?

The King Arthur has weapons storage pods for after we eject from it, right? How much can we put in there? I'd like to load up the Excalibuster, our shield, and the EM Ballista to mount in the Chimera's tail turret after we eject. Any excess space should go to spare rounds for the Ballista.
>>
>>24940274
Have the captains organized a mission briefing?
>>
>>24940337
It has ten storage pods, two currently house a DODS Gatling and a DODS Shotgun. You can fit the Excalibuster, Shield, EM Ballista and plenty of rounds. You load that stuff in easily and still have room for more stuff.
>>
>>24940274
Has Jake selected his loadout for Arthur's pods? I recommend the Ballista with extra magazines, Excalibuster, and shield. Store an additional DODS Rifle for Chimera's tail. The rest should be devoted to anti-ship and anti-MS cluster missiles, if available. Program the Crusader to play Trombe Override on all frequencies when Jake meets up with the Allies at Ambat.
>>
>>24940274
So I've been working my way through this quest's archives, and I just have to say something.
Did Jake seriously develop an OS that lets a Gundam execute Roman Cancels and False Roman Cancels? Because that is ten kinds of awesome.
>>
>>24940274
Call mom, tell her we love her. After that, let's go see if we can get some info on how the attack is going to play out.

I assume the Armstrong will take out that lab, the pirates will take out the early warning station, and the Diva will take out the mining / factory plant. We should probably divide the Fardain forces between the Diva and Armstrong teams, considering how low our numbers are.

We're riding out in the King Arthur / Chimera combo, and we should equip the Excalibuster, the EM Balista and the shield, along with all the various bolts we can carry. The general idea of the attack on the lab should be disabling it so we can dig for data and useful blueprints. The Fardain forces with us should attack from the front, while the Armstrong flanks the enemy forces and rips them to shreds. After the pirates take care of that early warning system, they should split in two groups and assist us and the Diva as much as they can.
>>
>>24940415
Yes, it is.
I'm still kinda hoping we could pull off that linked targeting program that increases the acuracy of mobile suits in a group, but I doubt we'll make it in time and be able to install it on all nearby forces. Because seriously, that shit would allow us to track and shoot the bastards before they even know where they're going.
>>

We're attacking the lab, but we are not destroying it. It could have the data Dr. Spriggan needs to save Mellis.

Talk with MID, see if he is willing to help us in the gundam.
>>
>>24940530
Networking MS sensors to improve accuracy? It sounds like it could be useful but that depends on the MS individual computers. Receiving sensor readings and targeting data from multiple sources could overwelm the MS targeting computers. AGE and the Crusader might be able to handle the load, but I doubt our mass-produced MS forces could handle it.
>>
>>24940626
That's what I said, we're going to disable it, not destroy it, so we can search through all the data we need.
We need to save Mellis and make Gundam Legilis for the second generation Crocker.

>>24940656
...true, didn't think of that. Too much information could cause an overload. But still, if we ever get the chance to make it, it'll be pretty kickass.
Maybe later, when we make multiple linked AIs to work together in a suit we could make that happen.
>>
>>24940420
You call up Mom and chat with her for a few minutes and then leave saying you love her and you'll come back alive, leaving out the fact your going to be storming a major fortress soon.

>>24940552
You call Carlos over and get him out of the ship to test the bits. They work OK for what it's worth, reaction time sucks but that might have more to do with Carlos then anything else. You look over the bits and can't find anything wrong.

"I'll practice with these." Carlos says reassuringly and you nod hoping it's his fault.

>>24940645
You talk with MID and he seems enthusiastic about helping you. "I'LL DO MY BEST" He exclaims, crawling and perching himself into the slot you made for him.

"MID's RAM will be used to increase my processing capabilities and support functions" Ma G explains.

(-5 to all pilot rolls regarding accuracy)

Four spots are left open for missiles, you don't have Anti-MS missiles or cluster missiles of any kind, but you could probably jury rig some regular missiles to do that.

I still think we should save the King Arthur and Chimera for the main assault on Ambat... MaG will be busy with the Viral attacks on the base itself, so we will have to deal with the defenders unassisted. So I suggest using the Full Titus Cowl for the lab assault...

>>24940721
By any chance do we have any Anti-Ship Missiles? As in the one on the Big Ruf... or is that too big...
>>
>>24940699
It might be better to design a dedicated AWACS MS. A command and control suit designed with stronger sensors and better computers to handle that sort of load. It would be damn useful when operating away from ship support. Pilots can get rather narrow-minded in a fight. Having a controller monitoring the larger battlefield to better direct MS and long range ship fire-support could save lives. Something to consider after Ambat.

Now, I'm not sure, I think we made it so it only steals data, not hampers with the computers.
Maybe we could upgrade it quickly so it messes with their communications and targeting as well?

>>24940783

(Sorry guys, I only count the first five now)
You end you accidentally setting off the missiles and ruining those storage containers, making them completely unusable. Oh well, at least you have regular missile launchers built into the King Arthur

>>24940769
Well the ship has Anti-Ship Missiles, those are pretty damn big. You could try mounting one on the King Arthur but the extra weight would kill your speed and make you very vulnerable.

So now what? You still have three hours till the briefing.
>>
>>24940959
That's a great idea, but we need MaG and MID to help us with piloting. We're not a Super Pilot just yet.

>>24941017
Could we upgrade the data miner so it can upload that virus we made? Mark Vagan troops as foes and ours as allies.
>>
>>24941017
Is it only the missile containers that were ruined? We can still store the other stuff, right?

For now, just spend our remaining time doing some last checks on the mobile suits we have in the hanger. Now isn't the time for major modifications. Let's just make sure everything is in order.
>>
>>24941017
Have our virus target the enemy IFF system as well.

Maybe take control of self destruct systems...
>>
Can we fix the storage containers in three hours?

I think the virus idea will just slowdown the data mining.
>>
>>24941067
>Maybe take control of self destruct systems...
If you mean to prevent them from using it, then sure. We want the lab relatively intact. We are pinning the hope that it holds the key to saving Mellis within it's data-banks... Since Ambat is getting blown to kingdom come, This lab is our best chance at getting an extended study of their information....
>>
>>24941051
>>24941067
The virus you wrote was made to shut down a mobile suits systems, if you use it on something else you don't know if it'll work. If you use it on the lab it could corrupt the databanks there.

Ma G and MID could try and alter the base defenses but it'll probably take a lot longer then it would a mobile suit due to the hardware and software differences, the base probably has better protection for it's systems.

>>24941052
Yeah, the missiles only destroyed the side containers you packed the missiles in. The other containers are completely fine.
>>
>>24941017
Make a large bomb that can be launched with the ballista. This should allow us to clear large clusters of enemies.
>>
>>24941067
But they just end up using them anyway in canon. It would be more to or benefit to seize Ambat and try to prevent self-destruction.
>>
>>24941153
How? Despite the design, the Ballista is a railgun. The closest thing to a bomb Jake can load it with is the explosive rounds.

>>24941186
We talked about that in yesterday's thread. We have no way of holding Ambat.
>>
>>24941144

Beam Bayonet. Do we have the time?

Was reading about the 'Jitte' Beam Sabre Blocking Unit... which is basically a Beam Bayonet...
>>
>>24941216
Unless we try using charisma as a substitute for brainwashing.
>>
Just curious. If we called Liz over to help us with engineering, would that give us a small bonus to this making stuff?
>>
>>24941144
Make an underslung grenade launcher for the Ballista and beam rifle.
>>
>>24941240

I doubt that even could we hold Ambat, we could stop Grodek from turning it into dust...
>>
>>24941256
Liz and the other engineers are doing last checks on the suit and the currently untested Photon Blaster Cannon which needs the AGE Builder to fire.

>>24941232
Beam Bayonet on what? You don't have a standard rifle save for the EM Ballista, but it's design would make it a little awkward to use in melee with anything on the end. You could slap a beam dagger on the end if you really want too.

>>24941278
An underslung grenade launcher is very possible, you'll base it off your dad's to save time.

>>24941138
>>24941153
You could try and fix the containers, you probably won't have time to jury-rig munitions until your finished with the lab.

(Roll 2d100 vs Engineering. 60 or below succeeds. 1 is a critical. 100 is a critical failure. Only the first five rolls with be counted)

>>
>>24941232
We don't need that. Our rifle is built directly into a hybrid solid/beam saber, so we can block beam swords that way. We've also got the hybrid beam vulcan/ beam saber palm blasters that we reverse engineered from the Gafran. So we've always got beam blades ready to deploy.

>>24941351
That's what I was thinking, but last thread made a convincing point that we don't have enough forces to hold Ambat. Take it, yeah, but ultimately we will need to destroy it before the enemy can retake it. We're a ragtag fleet, and don't have the resources to maintain our own base against attack. Crosswire said that he might be willing to consider some crazy scheme to take it if we managed to get everything right in the taking of Ambat and avoid too many losses, but that's probably not going to happen.
>>
>>24941418
We probably won't be able to hold Ambat after the battle, but deploying the data miner there as well would take much, much less time than towing it and reusing it as a base. If nothing else, we leave the damn thing there, place some explosives, some transmitter that'd send us all the data it can find, and blow it to kingdom come after it's done uploading everything.
>>
>>24941418
It might be possible to use the data miner on both the lab and Ambat. It's three hours travel time from the lab to Ambat. That should be long enough to transfer the data in the miner onto a shipboard computer for analysis. Then when we invade Ambat itself, use the data miner there as well. Gets Jake as much info as possible that way.
>>
>>24941507
sound good
>>
>>24941507
I guess I misunderstood what that post was saying, then. Yeah, we probably have enough time to deploy the data miner a second time. Especially if we bring it into the base for a direct linkup to the computer systems. Ambat has really big hallways, we could have the Crusader haul it in stored in an armored container.
>>
>>24941547
Yes, that was what I was getting at. We use the miner on both the lab and the base itself.
>>
>>24941418

The idea was to use the AGE builders to mass produce thrusters to push Ambat into the Graveyard...

Though, I feel that we could do that with the lab... just start plating it in derelicts...
>>
>>24941594

You repair the containers a make a pair of grenade launchers for the spare DODS Rifle and DODS Shotgun, but you could fit them on just about anything handheld. It's a 8 tube grenade launcher so you'll have to select the ammunition types you want.

By the time your finished you notice it's time for the briefing.
>>
>>24941626
Blow up the scientists, drain the equipment, shoot the computers and grab the place up?
>>
>>24941636
Well then off we go. Leave the AGE builder running to make some grenade launchers for the others.
>>
>>24941626
We're sparing the noncombatants so they can begin doubting their leaders.
But, yeah, after they've evacuated and we grabbed all the tech, we blow the damn thing up.

By the way, what's the smallest outpost?
Maybe we could move that thing into the Graveyard instead of the entire Ambat base.
>>
>>24941655
This.
As for the ammo, I guess some smoke, flash and goo grenades are in order.
Are there any grenades that make that beam-shroud? They'd be useful if things go sour.

>>

Yeah, this. We capture them, go for Ambat, and take them as our prisoners on the way back.
>>
>>24941723
Your logic seems a bit inverted here. IIRC the Germans didn't retain enemy researchers with any regularity, and if they had I can't see it having had an adverse reaction. Additionally, the U.S. space program was built in large part with the assistance of former Nazi scientists (namely Von Braunn).
>>
>>24941763
>>24941765

well we could use the MA for it's initial purpose: war prisoner taking that could work right?
>>
>>24941636
High-explosive-anti-armor and goo grenades would be the most useful here. Well, how effective would shrapnel grenades be against Vagan MS?

>>24941763
Like I said, I don't like killing civies. But remember, these guys are the ones who messed up Melis. God only knows what kind of sick experiments people who use child soldiers could be performing. And if the scientists are any bit patriotic (and they likely are) we'd have to constantly watch for sabotage. A couple hours in a lab with little monitoring and suddenly there's a fusion bomb going off.
>>
>>24941806

the only flaw with that is that we would have to destroy the colony we just left to get it out....

>>
>>24941803

>>
>>24941837
>>24941847
well now that's a severe design flaw, crap
>>
>>24941806
I think CD is grounded. If he could come with us, we'd have a portable prison.
Maybe we signal the Feds? They come over, take the prisoners, and capture Grodek.

>>24941830
We can always incapacitate them. Throw them in a lab and lock the doors behind us.
If we survive, we come back for them, bring them aboard as prisoners and head home.
>>
>>24941859

Well, it was designed to Defend the colony and Evacuate the Colonists in case of the imminent destruction of the colony...
>>
>>24941830
The problem is with simply killing them is that we do not know how much of the procedure that was done is in the data banks. If the key points are in the head doc's head, then we could kill Melis by killing him. It might bite us, but losing Melis will bite us back even more.
>>

The AGE System needs to be monitored and can't be left running, plus if you leave it running the ship can't use the Photon Blaster Cannon which you may not be using, but you may want to use it if someone horrible shows up

You head to the briefing and listen to what they have to say. First they show what forces they have available.

"Second group will attack the Early Warning Station. This will be the Diva and the Zalam/Euba troops along with Arnold for the additional sniping capabilities. We will bombard the unit from afar to cripple it's communications and sensors and go in for the kill" Captain Frizzle adds

"Last but not least is the third group made up of the Armstrong and the Darwin Class lead by Captain Blackmarsh and his son Hogan. They are bringing 50 extra Shaldolls and will provide support. Due to the condition of one of our pilots loved ones, I have modified this plan to involve the use of a data-miner to steal all available information as well as infiltration to make sure all personelle are killed and the experiments destroyed" Grodek looks at you and nods.

>>
>>24941856
Well that's what happens when a country starts marginalizing and entire race, any and all intellectuals from said race with an ounce of foresight will try and abandon ship.

Plus, they still had plenty of brain power left in the country. They developed jet fighters before anyone else, the V1 & V2 rockets, and nearly developed a working atomic weapon (recovered notes and prototypes are what let the Russians develop the bomb as quickly as they did).

Or is that to be determined but the units/command structure of the third group?
>>
>>24941956
I wonder what the Federation would do with any scientists we capture? Would they use them? Kill them out-of-hand? Ship them back to the Vagan? High Command is about as corrupt as it gets. Some of them at least are in cahoots with the Vagan. If we take the scientists alive, it might be better to keep them away from the Feddies.
>>
>>24942105
I guess the Feds are the best equipped to deal with something like this.

We could make a prison for them on Minsry, but that'd put the entire colony in danger.
On the other hand, we have CD there to keep watch over them.
>>
>>24942105
Yes and no there. While it would keep them away from the feds, it would also be a major flag that we are up to something. One or two who sympathize with us we could likely get away with, but as bad as it is, it would likely be better to hand the rest to the Feddies. Remember, if they think we are against them, they will hunt us and those we care for before we are ready and if they honestly use the scientists for child soldier creation? Well.. we just got an extra bit of black mail to use against them.
>>
>>24942105
I'd personally call that a given, not that we have the relations at the moment to properly hand them off.

Realistically we question them for details on healing/curing Melis, and decide they fate based on how well it helps. If Melis lives, or better yet the damage is reversed, then our character is likely to offer them some sort of reprieve (just my assumption based on past decisions).

If it doesn't work, they refuse, or we are overruled then we resort to a long walk out of a short airlock.
>>
>>24942105
>>24942153
The pirates may have prisons. If they don't, make some for them.
>>
>>24942205
A bit of a Catch-22 situation, eh? Giving the scientists to the Feddies could turn out badly, but if we don't we look like mutineers or potential rebels. Might be better off squirreling any survivors off with the pirates or Zalam/Euba. No easy choices here...
>>
>>24942238
Yeah, but I doubt that the pirates would take them.

The Feds are our best bet for taking care of the captives.
They are equipped to deal with this sort of thing, have the resources to take care of the prisoners, and we don't look too suspicious to our higher ups.
>>
>>24942296
Why the fuck would we let them know about the existence of prisoners?

"The ship's brig. If there are too many to hold, kill some or restrain them in a broom closet. I'd rather kill them all, but since some may have information you want I'll have to stomach it" Grodek says, gritting his teeth a little.
>>24942083
"The infiltration team will be the security team of the Armstrong due to our lack of infantry units. They will allowed to decide their course of action, but have been ordered to take as many prisoners as possible" Grodek explains

>>24942019
"We'd like this operation to be finished in an hour or two. We'd like to reach Ambat as soon as possible" Captain Frizzle nods her head.

"Any other questions?"
>>
>>24942328
Why not? They have the best resources to take care of them.

Fardain or Minsry could work out just as well for taking care of the captives.
Fardain has superior military and are our allies, but they are still part of the Federation. Minsry is neutral, has our allies, and CD who could watch over the prisoners.
So we could give the prisoners to them, and hope that the guys in charge doesn't rat us out.
>>
>>24942391
Just a suggestion:
I guess the pirate crew is the best prepared for boarding actions, why not let them lead the infiltration?
>>
>>24942328
Keeping quiet about prisoners may be a good idea. However, if the scientists are needed to fix Melis, hiding them from the Federation may be impossible. The X-Rounder research facility is almost guaranteed to be monitored closely by the Feddies. Even without a Federation garrison there, the research and scientists in the facility are too valuable not to keep a close eye on.
>>
>>24942391
We should get permission to be present for the briefing of the security team to explain the operation of the data miner, as well as give them as much background info to help them know what to look for.
Also quick look over their gear/transport, see if we can't give them an edge.
('from gothato' silly Captcha only Batman is from Gotham)
>>
>>24942481
The best thing we could do is give the prisoners over to the Fardain guys.

They are part of the Federation, so they can deal with prisoners better than us.
Plus, we're in cahoots with their leader, so we can count on him to take care of them and hide unnecessary info from the higher ups.
The Feds are happy, we are happy, and the scientists live. Everybody wins.
>>
>>24942481
Are they? I kind of got the sense that the X-Rounder lab wasn't a very important project to the Federation. They certainly don't seem to be giving them much support, and the only X-Rounder they actually had to study was the chief of staff's daughter. And they can't be monitored that closely if the Federation found out about us being in Minsry by chance. If the Spriggan X-Rounder Research Institute was that important to the Federation, they would have caught us earlier. Probably they only occasionally check in on the facility. Probably often enough that we can't keep them there permanently, but getting them to help with Mellis shouldn't risk them being found,
>>
>>24942451
"Why not have Hogan and Captain Blackmarsh lead the infiltration team with their own men? Our security team should stay onboard in case anything happens" You suggest.

"That's a good point. Captain Blackmarsh, are you willing to do that?" Captain Frizzle asks.

"Of course. I want to see what these bastards look like up close and personal. Besides it's be a long time since we kidnap, er I mean took someone prisoner" Captain Blackmarsh says, rubbing his hands together eagerly.

>>24942504
"My I explain the purpose of the Data-Miner?"

"Go right ahead Jake."

You stand in front of everyone and give a rundown of what the data-miner does and how you plan on using it, making sure to take note what weapons the pirates are using as to better advice where they not shoot them off.

"Anything else?" Captain Grodek asks
>>
>>24942642
Just to clarify: We're using the data miner in both the lab and Ambat base, right?
>>
>>24942589
It depends. If the Feddies use human agents to monitor the lab then there could be trouble. If they only monitor the records occasionally, then using the scientists there for Melis becomes much more manageable. Between MaG and MID, erasing the presence of the Vagan scientists would be downright easy with a bit of time. You've got a point about the Federation not prioritizing X-Rounder research the way /tg would. I keep thinking that the collective intelligence of the Feddies is at least equal to our own. Then I remember how lazy and corrupt they are...

>>24942722
Yep. Got time to drain the lab, move the data to shipboard computers, and scrub the drive for the Ambat attack.
>>
>>24942722
(Yes)
>>
>>24942775
Alright then. So the only problem is what to do with the captives.

I guess we could keep them on Minsry considering how it's neutral ground, has CD to look after the prisoners and has that research station where Mellis is.
Ask the Fardains to act as supervisors in the name of the Federation, when they're actually loyal to our cause and will most likely help us if shit hits the fan.
That way, we get to keep the prisoners, save Mellis, and keep the Federation in the partial dark about what's going on.
>>
>>24942775
Honestly, while I do not see them make super X-Rounders like the Vegans, I do see them creating artificial X-rounders using plain folk as the stock. Hell, they could even make anti-x rounders if they used the failure of what happened to Melis as an example. Make a bunch of soldiers with that berserk element to go right after enemy X-Rounders.
>>
>>24942974
I am going to have to object to keeping them on Minsry. Having several high value targets on a civilian colony, CD or not is bound to draw the attention of both the vegans and the feddies. Even if we have CD on them, if data leaks at least a bit, we are looking at some major back lash with Desil and Flit's love interest right in the cross fire. Hell, having Desil and her being on the same COLONY as them screams danger to me.
>>
>>24942982
Or with a better understanding of how X-Rounders work, they develop the NT-D for use against the Vagan. Just picture Jake or his kids using the NT-D against the Legilis Gundam.
>>
>>24943036
...yeah, agreed on that point.

So, Fardain it is. We just need to make sure the blond guy with red highlights survives.so he can make a Vagan prison.
>>
With no more questions left, everyone scatters and prepares for the attack. You have half an hour to get ready. What loadout will you use the Crusader with? You might have to enter the research facility, so using the King Arthur might not be wise.

What do you want Jake?
>>
>>24943120
Chimera Cowl with the Excalibuster and Shield, as well as the EM Balista in tail.
If we can, we should carry around an additional DODS rifle with the grenade launcher.
>>
>>24943039
Considering what we've done with the Chimera pack, it's entirely possible that we'll be the ones to build the Legilis. But I get your point. Something like the psycho-jammer from Unicorn would shut down the particle bit shenanigans completely.
>>
>>24943153
Isn't the Legilis a Vagan MS? It's a Gundam mockup using not only Vagan tech, but a Vagan aesthetic.
Why would Jake use a Vagan aesthetic?
>>
>>24943120
Go full Titus. The Chimera is only for the actual assault on the base.
>>
>>24943120
Hmmm.. I would say either Chimera or the high speed one for now. The quicker we deal with the enemy forces, the quicker we can get our butts to board the lab. Don't want them deleting the databanks, evacuating, or taking the almond flavored pill now.
>>
>>24943200
Agreed, that way should some thing happen to is we still have the chimera for the assault, plus the added defenses might help us cover the infiltration squad.
>>
>>24943120
Chimera, DODS rifle in tail, Excalibuster and shield in hands, Ballista with grenade launcher stored on backpack rack. Go for quick kills.
>>
>>24943120

Voting Full Titus Cowl...

Don't want to take too much damage here...
>>
>>24943200
Can the Titus even use weapons? Isn't it melee oriented and can only fight with its fists?
If it can, then go with it.

We should probably wish everyone good luck,
>>
>>24943195
I was just referring to the fact that we're the ones reverse engineering Vagan tech and using it in our designs, where in canon they won't be doing it to us until the Legilis. Probably because the average state of canon Vagan tech is superior to anything other than the Gundams and they didn't get one until they captured Kio, but the point remains. If anyone's making a Federation/Vagan hybrid MS, it'll be us.
>>
>>24943265
Yeah, but the Vagan are likely just going to see the MS we create, and just do the same thing to counter us.
>>
>>24943265
If Kio doesn't exist, let's make it our goal to go to Vagan and bang Lou.

What he said.

We're probably going to end up having MaG, CD and MID go over every scrap of data, combine it with the data from the AGE system, and create some unholy hybrid of Vagan and Gundam tech. It'll be the most badass thing out there, until we salvage SID and incorporate it into the new Gundam as well.

As for the aesthetic, I'm kinda rooting on making it look a bit like EVA-02 but with the Crusader theme. We shall call it the Lucifer.
>>
>>24943316
And cheat on Mellis? You evil fuck.
>>
>>24943345
no this happens to our grandson not us
>>
>>24943263
Titus Cowl, not Titus Wear. The Titus Cowl is four armored plates with beam emitters that cover most of the Crusader. Hand weapons can still be used. Might be better to use the Titus after all. Jake will need the Chimera Cowl at 100% for the main attack.

Changing >>24943246
to Titus Cowl, Excalibuster and shield in hands, Ballista with grenade launcher stored on backpack.
>>
>>24943293
Fair enough. Especially if Zeheart's infiltration leads to him observing our kid while he's building his own Gundam. We'll get a semi-parasitic arms race going. We'll just keep stealing concepts from each other until our tech is indistinguishable.
>>
>>24943354

Have we decided if we're going to play as Jake's son and grandson in the next generations?
>>
>>24943369
We're going to have Desil with our kid at the time Zeheart comes over to monitor not-Asemu.
>>
>>24943340
You do realize this may increase the chance that Jake's son ends up a Shinji, right?

..though now Gendo/Lord Genome Jake scares the HELL out of me.
>>
>>24943361
With the Titus Cowl we can also take out large groups of enemies with a high speed beam tackle.
>>
>>24943405
We get Carlos to throw us at them.

>>24943397
Jake as Gendo / Lordgenome. Holy fuckballs, that'd be awesome.
>>
>>24943397
With a father like Jake and a mother like Mellis, the kid would be absolutely nothing like Shinji.
>>
>>24943445
Shinji? More like Guy Shishio!
>>
>>24943340
The two aesthetics aren't very compatible. However aspects could be borrowed, for example the quad-eye set-up (I always like that), the shoulder protrusions housing beam sabers and/or ECM, the protrusions at the knees and hard point knuckles. Maybe something alluding to a spinal assembly, but its a departure from typical Gundam aesthetics.
>>
>>24943345
(Nah, that'd be our grandkids at that point)

>>24943361
>Titus Cowl, Excalibuster and shield in hands, Ballista with grenade launcher stored on backpack.

You decide to go for armor on this mission. No sense in having the Crusader damaged or the Chimera wear destroyed. You load up your weapons and get assembled with everyone.

Dad, Ralphie, Carlos and Tim along with two customized Space Launches ( http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Space_Launch_(Gundam_AGE) ) wait inside the hanger with you.

Anything you want to say or tell them while your here Jake?
>>
>>24943583
"Don't die on me now! We've still got a long road ahead!"

I was actually thinking something similar, myself. I think the Super EVA-01 from ANIMA would have an aesthetic that combines Real Robot designs with the more organic look of the Evas. It's got the bestial feel to it, but still looks like something that was made rather than grown.
>>
>>24943798
>Give dad a hug and fistbump the rest of the crew.
"If there's an obstacle in our way, we blast through it standing together. While we stand, we fight. While we fight, we win. Go out there and give them hell. We were born to do this." Then everybody: "Just who the hell do they think we are?"

You climb into your suits and wait. The Armstrong reaches the appropriate range. You wait eagerly for the signal to launch but it never comes.

"Dorthy? What the hell is going on? The other operations have already started!"

"We're working on it. The lab should be here according to the coordinates we pulled from those Vagan Mobile suits." Dorthy groans.

"Oh crap, could it have the same stealth system as one of the Vagan mobile suits?" You mutter.

What is your plan of action Jake?
>>
>>24943885
Fire off missiles with anti-beam chaff. That stuff is pretty reflective, so sensors would pick it up pretty easily. Then just look for the gap where the chaff enters the field and turns invisible. That's where the lab is. If it is there, and we don't just have wrong information.
>>
>>24943885
shine a space flash light at it?
>>
>>24943885
Scan the area for a spot with a distinct lack of radiation.
>>
>>24943885
Sweep for stray radiation signals and zero in on the source.
>>
>>24943885
Fire a shot from the ship's railcannons at the predicted coordinates. I doubt the stealth field can handle the kinetic energy. Launch MS in a search pattern around the coordinates. If we can't see it from where we are, then we need to look for the lab, quickly. Clock's ticking.
>>
Use the Armstrong's flechette bolts from the 400mm guns, look for where they disappear.
>>
>>24943869
Okay, yeah, that one is totally bitchin'. We're making something like that.
Maybe use some ideas from EVA-02, like the face with four eyes.

>>24943885
Go with >>24943920 - if the missiles simply disappear, we know the enemy is behind that umbrella.
Also, sweep the entire area for suspicious signs of radiation.
>>
>>24943967
>>24943960
are you trying to kill mellis? we can't risk damageing the lab
>>
>>24944006
Flechette rounds aren't likely to do much internal damage. The lab needs to be sturdy enough to handle small meteor strikes and contain internal explosions from accidents. We might shred their external systems, but the inner labs should be relatively intact.
>>
>>24943885
Do the pirates have some scrap they could throw at the base?
We simply monitor where it disappears and then we know if it's there or not.
>>
>>24943869
>>24943971

We should make it like that pic, but colored like a traditional Gundam. That would be pretty fucking badass.
>>
>>24944006
>>24944062

We don't need to even use them at max velocity.
>>
>>24944062
that's a mighty big risk though. We have no idea how the labs are set up on the base and while the inner labs may be safe, if we shred something important on accident, we will be fucked.

All we need to do is simply find a way to determine where it is. We don't need to shoot into space, just search for a clean spot and use something like those paint ball shots we used for MS practice.
>>
>>24944140
Throw some junk at it, or a couple of flash grenades, or anti-beam chaff rockets.
>>
>>24944062
>>24943967
"Dorthy, could we maybe fire off some Flechette rounds? Watch where the spray goes and see if any of it disappears. The lab is probably well protected, probably built out of an asteroid"

"Alright, I'll ask the Captain"

After a few moments you get a reply from Dorthy. "Got it! I've got the coordinates. Should we pull the ship into the invisible umbrella field or should we just send you five in with the shuttles?"

Well Jake?
>>
>>24944202
"Stand off for now. No need to pull closer until we take out any response of theirs. The Invisible Umbrella isn't that big. Getting the Armstrong that close would just be getting in the way."
>>
>>24943869
wow, that is alot closer than I would have thought, make the abdomen blockier and pop some verniers on the back and you're 3/4 of the way done.
>>
>>24944202
We'd be sitting ducks if we go in the shuttle now that they've been alerted to our presence.
Prepare some flashbang rockets or whatever to serve as distraction for the landing party.
>>
>>24944202
Launch the shuttle with with the railgun for maximum speed. They know we're here now.
>>
>>24944202
The Armstrong stays here. The mobile suits will storm the facility.
>>
>>24944202
I'd say mobile suits should lead the way. We have no idea what they have in there. If it's clear, we send the shuttles too. If not, we clear the place so they can get in safely. Be ready for whatever they might pull. Don't want to walk into a ambush.
>>
>>24944202
Launch the MS first to draw out any enemies. The Armstrong will move in behind, keeping the shuttles within the Armstrong's point defense umbrella. The station's unlikely to have many, if any MS but let's not take any more chances than we have to. Sound alright?
>>
>>24944306
Sounds alright.
The Armstrong should move in behind the MS, and while we're keeping the enemy preoccupied, the pirates can slip in.

>Launch the MS first to draw out any enemies. The Armstrong will move in behind, keeping the shuttles within the Armstrong's point defense umbrella. The station's unlikely to have many, if any MS but let's not take any more chances than we have to. Sound alright?

"We'll go ahead and draw out any enemies. Follow up with the Armstrong but keep the shuttles inside until we know it's safe" You and everyone else launches. Moving forward you pass through the invisible field, followed by the Armstrong shortly afterwards.

You see the research lab in all it's mysterious beauty and by beauty you mean it looks like a deformed pair with a large metal rod sticking through the middle.

It's pretty big for a simple lab. Tim's Radome scans form a rough map of the outside, showing three visible hangers, one closed the other two open.

"I'm picking up a lot of heat and energy, but I can't get any details due to composition of the lab's shell. Damn asteroids" Tim curses.

"That spinning thing in the center, that's a gravity block. Big and clunky looking, but a gravity block no less" Dad points out.

"I'm not detecting any mobile suits, hell I don't even see any defense systems..." Ralphie mutters.

"I don't like the smell of this." Carlos says, turning his suit towards yours.

"What should we do Jake?"
>>
>>24944704
Expect the enemy. The cloaking umbrella hides them, even when you're inside it.
Lob a goo grenade into the nearby hangar, and after it explodes, check if there are any mobile suits inside. If not, move towards the other.
I'm expecting that the closed hangar is the one they'll burst out of, but it's still better to be sure and check out the other two.
>>
>>24944704
"I've got a bad feeling about this..."

Deploy anti-beam chaff around the Armstrong. Put some missiles into the open hangars set to detonate in the middle of the hangars. Be ready to fire into the currently closed hangar with the ship's cannons. Any other precautions, anyone?
>>
>>24944704
Carlos is right. There's definitely an ambush coming.

We know the Vagan have individualized cloaking mechanisms as well ever since we fought Solace. Unfortunately we have very little means of detecting them.

Will heat-detection visuals work?
>>
How about a flechette round into each of the hangars?
>>
>>24944788
For all we know the Invisible Umbrellas can work even inside another one. Since we know they have stealth-capable mobile suits, this idea makes sense as a precaution. Let's do it SWAT style. Toss in the grenades, then advance with everyone taking a separate section of hanger to monitor.
>>
>>24944813
Nah, the cloaking is pretty solid. So far, the only way to detect something is to spot slight radiation emissions, and those are only produced by large, moving battleships.

>>24944806
Deploy anti-beam chaff, and order a flash-bang missile into the nearest hangar to us. It shouldn't damage anything, and we can move in and clear them out.
If the hangar is empty, we should probably seal it in such a way that we don't damage the facility (a goo bomb) and move to the other one.

>>24944831
Too risky. A large goo grenade that disables everything would be a better choice.

>>24944858
Agreed. Flash a hangar, clear it, and seal it with a goo bomb.
>>
>>24944704
Take out the gravity block.
>>
>>24944959
And damage the computer terminals we need?
>>
>>24944813
I'm not certain thermal detection was ever tried. MS stealth fields have a time limit of 1 hour or so. Unfortunately, we don't have that kind of time. Let's flush 'em out with missiles to the open hangars. Keep the Armstrong's guns trained on the closed hangar. For all we know, there might be a few Defurse MA hidden in there.
>>

>>24944904
You have the Armstrong deploy beam chaff and have them fire a flash bang missile at the nearest open hanger. Everyone flies in fast and tries to get a jump on anyone there, however you find that the hanger is barren and empty, almost too empty.

You and Dad fire goo bombs, gumming up the entrance and preventing anyone from leaving the hanger without the use of beam weapons.

"Armstrong, keep an eye on this one" You warn, overseeing what to do next.

There are still two entrances, one is closed, the other is open from what Tim's sensors say. You only have enough goo grenades between you and Dad to close up one more hanger.

What is your plan of action Jake?
>>
>>24945057
Close the other open one with goo bombs, then blast that closed one.
That way, they only have one point from which they could attack us.
>>
>>24945057
Seal the other open hangar. Keep Armstrong's guns on the closed hangar. Have the pirate Shadolls on local patrol. They're armed and armored enough to stand a decent chance against any ambush from outside of the lab's umbrella. Don't forget, we brought along support. Deploy one of the Shadolls into the first hangar to cut open a path for the shuttles. Missing anything?
>>
>>24945057
Are there any radio signals or anything like that emanating from the Research Facility?

Can we attempt to connect to its computer systems from where we are now? Preferably through a proxy so if there's a virus or electronic defense system we can just drop the connection.
>>
>>24945143
I'd advise that we load the Armstrong's guns and keep them ready to fire the instant that closed hangar blasts open.
The Black Raven is in there.
>>
What if there was a leak and the station has been purposely abandoned. They could know that you're looking for something inside it and have rigged it to blow. As soon as a significant amount of Ms' or a valuable target like the Armstrong get close enough to it, Boom, and they kill everyone.

In short, Its a trap.
>>
>>24945200
Impossible. They would never abandon the facility even so. Environmentally sealed suits exist, so a leak would be child's play for anyone.
>>
>>24945234
I think he meant information leak, not atmosphere leak.
>>
how are we supposed to get the insertion team in if we seal all the ways in, the more time we waist more likely we lose information.
>>
No no no, I mean an intelligence leak. Someone told them we were coming and they set a trap for us to walk into.
>>
>>24945200
It's...possible. I doubt it, though. One of the Vagan's biggest issues was lack of men and materials, I think. They wouldn't trash a functional lab like that except as a last resort. The Vagan are culturally arrogant as well. Until we kick their asses on a massive scale, they won't look at the Allies as any more than trash to be swept aside.

>>24945251
Hmm, might be better to flush out the other open hangar with grenades and secure it for the shuttles. Just keep the Armstrong ready to shred the closed hangar with its guns.
>>
>>24945298
Yeah. Let's flush the other hangar and get those shuttles in there.
We might need the goo grenades later.
>>
>>24945261
A trap possible, but blowing the lab up? Not likely.
Mostly because they don't regard the Allies as a threat that'd require such drastic measures.
I guess an ambush with multiple mobile suits and a Defurse unit. Or the Black Raven.
>>
>>24945393
Nah, it doesn't make dramatic sense for the Black Raven to show up yet. I can see a Defurse or two, though.
>>
>>24945485
I'm betting at least a pair of Defurse in the closed hangar. The Vagan aren't likely to know who's deploying where and Rysis is after Jake. She'll be waiting at Ambat. I doubt those Defurse can withstand 400mm rail slugs.
>>
>>24945523
Yeah, but that'd damage the facility as well.
The Defurse aren't able to fly, if I remember correctly, so they'll most likely be stationed inside the closed hangar and inside the lab.
If the other hangar is empty after we flash it, we should probably send Hogan over there with the landing party while we provide cover.
>>
>>24945577
They can't fly, but we're not close enough to anything massive enough to give real gravity. It'll be less mobile away from a surface due to not having the thruster set up or AMBAC needed to really maneuver in space, but it could surprise us from another angle if it was deployed early.
>>
>>24945624
If they could be lured out of the hangar (assuming they're there to begin with and not anchored to the outside and cloaked) the Defurse would be easy fodder for the railguns.
>>
>>24945665
I don't think that MS can cloak, at least not in this generation. Ships they're riding on? Yes.
SID took everyone by surprise by being the first suit capable of cloaking.

So... It's either in the hangar, or there are a couple of ships nearby.
>>
>>24945708
We were attacked by cloaked units a few threads back. I was thinking more of a projection system set up WITH the Defurse, not in them.
>>
>>24945730
Yeah, but the cloaking system was hiding units near the large ship. Their suits were visible when they left it and attacked us.
Still, we shouldn't think that there isn't a ship nearby waiting for us.
>>
>>24945708
We've already encountered cloaked suits, remember? They weren't as good as the ones the ships used, and needed to deactivate cloak to fight, but they exist.

Speaking of cloaking, does anyone else think it's weird that Vagan sensors don't seem to be able to pierce the Invisible Umbrella, either? The Baronche crew managed to pull off some ballsy stunts on the Vagans using their salvaged system, which they definitely couldn't have if the Vagan suits could see them. Then again, they could have just not known they would need to, so they never bothered to equip their suits that way. Still kind of odd. You'd expect the Vagan systems to be able to see each other for the sake of coordinating attacks.

"Blackmarsh, could you send out your guys to patrol the area? Dad go goo up the other hanger, me and the guys will cut open the other hanger to let the shuttle in" You toss your father your goo grenades as you split up, sending Tim with Dad to make sure nothing crazy happens.

By the time you arrive the other hanger and begin to cut into, your Dad yells out.

"Shit! Jake there are Vagan shuttles in here! There loading something into them, it looks like drives or som-" You Dad's signal cuts out as an enemy appears on radar between Tim and your Dad, it seems to be a Baqto unit and a Zedas, there the same units that showed up with that asshole Shiro!

Before you can order Ralphie to stop cutting and race to assist Dad the sealed doors explodes, throwing Ralphie back as something flies out.

You and the others fire wildly, but it moves faster then you can it it. Eventually as you move out of the smoke and debris you get a clear look at it

It's large, the size of two mobile suits in high and in length. It's round like an orange, has two large arms sticking out of the sides, a large array of Light-propulsion thrusters on it's rear and an array of Gafran heads on the front of it arranged to look like a large demonic head with it's mouth open, a weapon of some kind in said mouth.

The thing looks like it was cobbled together, like it's a really rough prototype of...something. You and the others fire on it, but it dodges and continues it's flight forward towards the ships. It fires a massive scatter shot at the bridge of the Pirate Ship as flies towards it, blowing off the bridge completely and leaving heavy duty burns in the top of the hull, but otherwise leaving it intact. The Armstrong begins to blast away with it's DODS Gatling rounds, but they disperse before they even touch the flying Space Orange. The Orange keeps flying close to the Lab, preventing the Armstrong from firing a shot.

The "Space Orange" flies around, sticking close to the Lab and keeping it's distance. You wonder why they haven't deployed more units and question why the unit is keeping it's distance from you. No radio contact from Dad or Tim, but they're IFF's still show then near the two boggies from before.

What will you do Jake?
>>
>>24945797
probable has a incomplete operation system have every one else get the files we take the ornge and up load the virus it should hit something cobbled together especially hard.
>>
>>24945797
So it's some kind of prototype Gurdolin? Neat. Let's fire a grenade at the Space Orange. Set it to proximity detonation. I don't plan on hitting it, just on distracting the pilot long enough for us to get close to it.
>>
>>24945797
"Hey Dad, they totally stole your color scheme."

Charge towards the Flying Orange and pull out the Ballista, it might be able to stop the DODS rounds, but I doubt it can just stop massive spikes of metal going very very fast, hit it with EMP bolts, given that it's a cobbled together prototype the wiring ought to be kinda funky and might not have multiple redundancies.
>>
>>24945797
Pirates, stop the shuttles from leaving. Jake, upload the virus to the space orange.
Armstrong and the pirate ship, keep the orange distracted so that we can upload the virus.
The rest of the crew, help dad and Tim. We're not getting orphaned here.
>>
>>24945797
Send some of the pirates to give Dad and Tim covering fire. Order them to disable the shuttles' engines. The 'Space Orange' should be targeted with Flechette rounds at first to test it's armor. If it was slapped together in a hurry or a proof-of-concept prototype it may not be fully armored. Try to box it in with missiles long enough to nail it with beam cannons or EMP rounds.
>>
>>24945845
>>24945871
It's kicking our shit in at an alarming rate, and you want to use a virus that has a ten minute wait time? We'll be completely fucked then, AND we'll be gimped without Ma G.

I say we flank the orange and fire the ballista at it until it dies. It might be able to block beams, but not EM stakes.
>>
>>24945797
Unload on it once that mouth opens.
>>
If it's anything like the Gurdolin, which it probably is, it'll have devastating frontal attacks, but shitty maneuverability.
So, we learn it's pattern and shoot the damn thing with the balista. Possibly with the EMP bolt in its stupid mouth.

>>24945964
Yeah, I'll give you that.
>>
>>24945871
The virus would take too long and slow Jake down. Send Dad some MS support to cripple the shuttles. Have Armstrong unload on the 'Space Orange'. EM Armor may help some against capital DODS cannons, but missiles and rail slugs could tear it to pieces. No point going head-to-head with a MA when our ship can shred it with heavy weapons. Maybe close in under cover of the barrage to use the Ballista or Excalibuster at close range.
>>
>>24945891
"Blackmarsh! Cover fire from your guys for my Dad would be nice!" You yell as you narrowly dodge a scattering beam blast from the mouth of the distant Space Orange.

"Sorry kiddo, looks like the hangers been melted shut, gonna take a minute to cut through the door!" Black Marsh apologizes

>>24945869
"Fuck! Carlos, Ralphie, go help Dad and Tim, I got this guy!" You whip out your Ballista and fire on the Space Orange as the Armstrong Fires a flurry of Flechette rounds at it. The flechette rounds connect, but they don't do a thing to the armor, like glass against solid steel. Your bolt at least manages to penetrate, a little. It only penetrates the surface, like a fact in a noteboard.

The Space Orange ignores your attacks and fires on Carlos and Ralphie, sweeping it's arms at them as they try to rush by. both of them are knocked back, nasty gashes in their armor from the it's clawed hands. Both take evasive maneuvers and fly back towards you and the Armstrong for cover, the Space Orange keeping it's distance once again, waiting for your next attack.

It's obviously determined to keep you away from the shuttles. You notice it's maneuverability suck eggs but it's frontal attacks, speed and armor are frightening.

What do you plan to do Jake?
>>
>>24946120
(Tack in a note board)
>>
>>24946120
Goo bolt up the thrusters. Be the space matador, Jake.
>>
>>24946120
Reduce it's ability to move. Take out its thrusters, either with an explosive or an EMP round.
>>
>>24946120
Feint an attack on the shuttles to draw the Orange out. Have the Armstrong blast it with AP or EMP rounds from the railgun. Switch to Excalibuster. If Jake can draw it into melee range, he could cripple it with the beam blade.
>>
>>24946120
Oh, that's fucking IT.

EXCALIBUSTER HO!!!!
>>
>>24946120
Doesn't the Armstrong have Railguns? Have the Armstrong fire AP rounds from the railguns.

Circle around it, hit it in the thrusters, joints, and other finicky points with Explosive Bolts, Goo Bolts, or EMP Bolts depending on which would be most effective.
>>
>>24946177
Sounds good to me. Maybe combine with the goo bolt idea to make sure it's dead in the water when we attack.
>>
It's times like these that firing three shots at once would be a boon.
>>
>>24946195
That could work. Or bait it into charging the Armstrong. Use the Orange's speed against it to increase the force of the rail slugs. The beam chaff and anti-beam coating would increase the Armstrong's survivability. Be the matador, Jake.
>>
>>24946155
Gooing the scattering beam cannon could work too. That's how Jake stopped the Black Raven. And the Raven's Buster Rifles are much stronger than the Orange's scattering beam cannon.
>>
>>24946254
This.
We lure it into the Armstrong's line of fire. Jake evades, fires a goo bolt up the thrusters, and the thing can't maneuver anymore.
Meanwhile, the Armstrong fires its railguns at it, which should deal even more damage now that it is charging directly into them.
Be the space Matador, Jake.
>>
>>24946231
We have the DODS shotgun.

Somewhere.
>>
>>24946293
>>24946182
The Armstrong can't use it's Railguns or beam cannons without hitting the lab behind the Space Orange.

>>24946292
>>24946182
You decide to tank it and do what it wants. You have Carlos, and Ralphie harass it from afar along with what weapons the Armstrong can use against the Orange you engage it and begin to circle around it.

It blasts away with it's scattering beam cannon, but your Titus Armor can take it, even if it begins to melt and warp after the second shot. You fire away with you ballista, abusing the Orange's shite mobility and targeting it's more sensitive spots.

The Orange's pilot adapts pretty quickly and keeps you on your toes, even after you gooed up it's arms and EMPed it's cannon, the pilot manages to avoid getting Excalibusted but flailing it's goo covered armors, catching your sword in the good.

Carlos manages to shot you sword loose of the goo with his sucky bits, but by then the pulverized orange disconnects it's arms and flies off over the research facility at top speed.

"Agh fucking radio." Dad yells as you chase after the Orange. "Son, those fuckers are getting away with the shuttles. The suit with the Cannon knocked Tim out and used his suit to pin my J-Exes to a wall, I can't move and I don't want to risk cutting into Tim's suit..."

You reach the top of the research facility and see Shiro's two lackies (or former lackies) and the horribly damaged Space Orange flying at top speed away from you flying beside what look like five Vagan shuttles.

You might be able to fire on one of the units but you probably can't catch up to them at this rate. Dad is pinned and probably needs help.

What do you do Jake?
>>
>>24946628
TRANS-AM
>>
>>24946628
Shuttles are probably full of stuff we want and what they needed to get out. Hit as many of them with EMP bolts as possible, knock out their propulsion.
>>
>>24946671
what if there are computers inside them, it's too risky
>>
>>24946697
And if they aren't? Dad and Tim are in deep shit. We have to do something.
>>
>>24946671
Yeah. EMP bolts, followed by purging the Titus Cowl and catching up with them using the increased speed.
>>
>>24946628
"Carlos! Launch me!"
The send him to support the others.
>>
>>24946729
This. Insanity time ho.
Send the rest of the crew to help dad and Tim, while we fly at the shuttles with top speed.
Blackmarsh should send those troops of his to help as well. They have nets, lets use them.

Do we have those net-bolts equipped?
>>
>>24946775
Could we grab onto Carlos's bits and use them as boosters? Combine that with dropping the Titus Cowl and we might be fast enough.
>>
>>24946775
Oh right. We not only have the goo, we also have smokescreens and net launchers.
>>
>>24946811
Maybe.
Anyway, are the orange and those two suits the only suits we face?
Because we have 50 more troops that haven't done shit. Or are they inside the lab?
>>
>>24946628
Move the Armstrong to sight in the bogies. Target the MA and MS with the Armstrong's beam and rail cannons. Send a spread of missiles after the shuttles. Either destroy or cripple the shuttles with the missiles. Put a Ballista round up the MA's thrusters. Purge the Cowl to increase speed and engagement time.
>>
>>24946729
The extra speed would be good. But yes, goo and nets and all that. We NEED to stop that ships without frying the servers.

Damn you Biggs and Wedge! How are you two a bigger threat than our ex-'rival'?
>>
Look guys I suggested getting launched because a high speed beam tackle is the only thing that might damage the ball. The ships can be stopped with goo rounds after we deal with that ball.
>>
>>24946868
Send targeting data on the shuttles to the Armstrong for missile strike. Move the Armstrong into firing position on the MA and MS. Target MA thrusters with Ballista. Purge cowl. It's nothing but dead weight now.
>>
>>24946947
Pretty sure that'd destroy the shuttles. Nets and goo bolts are our best bet.
But yeah, destroying the two larger units with precise shots would be awesome.
>>
>>24946946
Damn it, why didn't I think of that earlier? The Space Orange likes to charge. We should have just charged back. Smart thinking, man.
>>
>>24946908
I get the feeling those two are going to follow each minor boss around and do nothing until he dies and they somehow manage to get away.
They are Henchmen 21 and 24.
>>
>>24946991
Its better to destroy the shuttles than let them escape. The MA doesn't have point defense. It's a sitting duck for missiles. The Armstrong has 36 missile tubes. We can shred the escort and knock out the shuttle engines in the same launch.
>>
>>24946849
>Because we have 50 more troops that haven't done shit. Or are they inside the lab They were stuck inside the now disabled pirate ship but have just now managed to cut themselves out of it.

>>24946868
As the shuttles race into the distance you prep your Ballista and take aim, firing a several goo and net bolts into the distance. You manage to disable one of the shuttles with a net, but the Space Orange swerves and soaks up the rest of your bolts, coming to a dead halt as it's thrusters are gooed.

The Zedas and Baqto stop as if wanting to go back, but they soon turn and leave as if the Space Orange had yelled "Go on without meeee!" They remaining shuttles and the two Vagan suits disappear beyond the invisible Umbrella.

Carlos and Ralphie arrive as you purge the cowl, the two dragging Dad and Tim's beaten and battered suits.

"You take them back to the ship, I'll collect the enemies." You fly out to the shuttle and put it under your Gundam's arm like a book. You investigate the Space Orange just in time to see a pilot coming out of the front. You reach out and snatch the pilot without crushing him, but are forces to turn tail and GTFO as the Space Orange begins to spark and explodes, coming completely critical ether from an overload, shitty design or self destruct.

You set down the shuttle in the hanger, the Space Orange pilot still stuck in your Gundam's hands. Everyone has returned to the ship, Blackmarsh and Hogan have boarded the station while Liz left to look over the damaged pirate ship.

What would you like to do Jake?
>>
>>24947063
We've got the pilot at our mercy. Let's yell at them. Then get them to the security team for locking up. Have them breach the shuttle and do the same. Then we head to the station to clear any remainders out, disarm any traps, and mine some data.
>>
>>24947063
Interrogate Mr. Orange Pilot, get some answers about what was on the shuttles, where they're going, if there are any traps in the stations, all of that.
>>
>>24947063
See if everyone is okay. Examine the shuttles and take prisoners. Interrogate the pilot.
Send the pirates over to clear the damn lab and set that damned data miner.
>>
>>24947105
>mfw it turns out the pilot's name is Jeremiah
>>
>>24947063
Why didn't we use missiles? We could have shredded the MA and MS with them.

Anyway, call ahead to the Armstrong to get ready to receive a prisoner. Do any needed repairs to Crusader and switch to Chimera and the Arthur. Stay out of the engineers way while they repair the other MS.
>>
>>24947063
Put him in the brig and grill him for any more nasty surprises that might be awaiting us if we were to go inside the lab.
>>
>>24947132
We didn't use missiles because our father and friend were stuck to the goddamn hull.
>>
>>24947214
They were stuck to the lab, not the Orange.
>>
>>24947132
>>24947214
>We didn't use missiles because our father and friend were stuck to the goddamn hull.

No. They were pinned over by the other hanger, damn it's getting late if I'm slipping on those details.

>Why didn't we use missiles? We could have shredded the MA and MS with them.

The Armstrong was behind the Lab, it was getting into position to fire but the enemies escaped by then.

>>24947126
>>24947155
>>24947132
You a pair of security officers take Mr. Orange Pilot to the brig as you investigate the shuttle as the hanger is sealed.

Engineers begin working to fix the battered suits as you and the security team open the shuttle. Inside you find 11 men, 9 women and dozens of what look like back-up data drives scattered across the floor.

The security team manages to restraint and detain the prisoners without any problems, the pilots of the shuttle apparently killed themselves to avoid capture. The others don't appear to be soldiers.

What do you do now Jake? Interrogate Mr. Orange, Look at some of the data on the drives or swap out the Crusader's wears?
>>
>>24947324
Swap out for a high speed cowl and chase after those other ships.
>>
>>24947324
Interrogate Mr. Orange. Hand the data drives over to the CIC for analysis, though. They'd be best able to break any encryption on them.
>>
>>24947324
Drives drives dive into the drives
>>
>>24947324
Reassure the prisoners that no harm will be done to them and check out on our team mates - are dad and Tim okay?
Hand the data drives for analysis, while we interrogate the pilot. If they find anything about those implants, they should let us know.
>>
>>24947324
we should go inside the lab as fast as possible with the data miner, I have the feeling they wiped or are wiping the data-banks clean if they have back-up data drives
>>
>>24947324
We can let Grodrek handle the prisoner. We've got a grizzled adult soldier here, and we have little interest in turning him.

Let the guy actually trained in interrogation handle that. We can analyze the data.
>>
>>24947458
Grodek isn't here. He's off dealing with the early warning sensor station, remember?
>>
>>24947324
I know we can't win them all, but I thought it strange everyone forgot the Armstrong had missile launchers that could be guided by our units.

Anyway, let's have MaG dig through those drives while we put the Chimera and Arthur on the Crusader. Refuel and reload our weapons.
>>
>>24947485
Fuck, that's right.
Did Captain Frizzle take any skillpoints in interrogate?
>>
>>24947449
The insertion team is already aboard the station with the miner. Better to leave interrogations to when Jake has the time. Remember, we're expected to be at Ambat in a couple hours and the Crusader needs refitted with the Chimera and Arthur.
>>
>>24947536
Yeah. Let the pirates go through the lab, set up the data miner while MaG checks those records.
We should see if our men are wounded, send the prisoners to the brig, rearm and refuel.

Time for the Chimera / Arthur combo to show us what it's made of.
>>
>>24947394
Dad is fine, Tim is knocked out cold after getting kicked into the side of the lab like a 50 ton soccer-ball by the Zedas Cannon.

You reassure to the prisoners that they won't be harmed as you take the drives and deliver them to Ma G for analysis, hopefully they have what you need because you fear they wiped their mainframe.

Getting your mind of things you walk to the prison cells and decide to take a crack at interrogation, or at the very least ask Mr. Orange some questions.

>>24947458
>We've got a grizzled adult soldier here

Upon entering the brig, you noticed that Mr. Orange has been kept separate from the other prisoners, stripped down to his bare uniform. You notice that he is not only 18 years old, be from the looks of his outfit, he appears to be an engineer.

It will be a while before you can have the help to mount the Chimera and the Arthur, so you might as well do this now.

What would you like to ask Mr. Orange, Jake? Or do you want to be let into his cell to interrogate him.
>>
>>24947588
Go in. Maybe if he sees we're not so different, he'll ease up.
>>
>>24947588
"So, what's your name?"
Introduce ourselves and compliment him on letting his allies get away. May as well be friendly as we're not that good at interrogation.
>>
So, you fell into a Mobile suit too?
>>
>>24947588
"My best friend was experiment on by you people. She's going to die in a few days if you don't tell me what you know." If he doesn't comply then the other methods will be used.
>>
>>24947588
"So what was with that mobile armor? Not its capabilities or anything, I know you won't say anything about that. I'm just curious why you made a scowly monster face out of Gafran heads. Was there an actual reason for that, or was it just for craziness' sake?"

Because the priming effect means it's easier to get serious information from someone if you start off asking them innocuous questions.
>>
>>24947588
STAY OUT OF THE CELL!!! Do not enter a cell with an unrestrained prisoner! Especially one who's been fed shitloads of propaganda about the 'horrors' of the Federation (which have more than a kernel of truth to them).
>>
>>24947588
Saunter on into his cell, engage him in technobabble based rapport.

"What in the fuck was that orange thing? Did you just take a dozen Gafrans and duct tape them together?

Seriously? I mean I know it's a prototype, but damn did it look clunky. You literally had a pile of heads just put in the front. Was that practical at all or did you just think it'd look cool?

What is it with them taking us random engineers and putting us in giant death machines? Seriously?"
>>
>>24947669
I doubt that he's not in cuffs or something. And that the room doesn't have security.

Might as well be friendly with the guy.
>>
>>24947669
>>24947636
You consider staying out of the cell Your not much in a fight and you prefer not to test how much they hate the Federation. However you realize you have to show him your not some ass-hat hear to brow beat him for information (well you are but your trying to be nice about it at least). You step into the cell and close the door behind you, glad to see he's in cuffs.

>>24947644
>"So, what's your name?"
"I'm Jake Crocker and I have to say that pretty noble of you to take those shots for your allies."

He looks at you, not saying anything, just looking rather confused, like why your not beating him to death with your shoes or something.

>>24947667
>"So what was with that mobile armor? Not its capabilities or anything, I know you won't say anything about that. I'm just curious why you made a scowly monster face out of Gafran heads. Was there an actual reason for that, or was it just for craziness' sake?"

He keeps his mouth shut, but eventually he opens it and speaks. "There was a reason, a proper engineer doesn't just slap on something out of foppery and whim, everything should have a purpose. I just used what I had to experiment at the time"

You notice he seems to be opening up a little. He's still on the defensive and one wrong thing could clamp him up, but he's obviously confused about why you seem so trusting of him.
>>
>>24947819
"So you pilot the same suit you constructed?"
>>
>>24947819
"I can respect that. Cool aesthetics are fun, but it's more satisfying if it's functional. Which that thing definitely was. Seriously, if that was something you made using spare parts I'd hate to face the finished model."
>>
>>24947819
Keep talking, relate to him as an engineer.

"I understand man, when all you have is a pile of Gafran heads everything looks like a ... sorry, I had no idea where I was going with that metaphor. Well it certainly would've given you a lot of redundant sensors in the front which would prevent people from just taking out your sensors and slowly picking you apart. Don't know your guy's engineering that well, but it may have also had benefits to the weapon between all the heads.

Honestly, damn good machine you put together, especially one made on short notice, very specialized, not the most versatile, but excellent at what it did. Bought your friends plenty of time and did some damage. I'd have hated to see what would happen if you had enough time to make something and work out all the finicky bits."
>>
>>24947819
"Yeah, I know what you mean."
"Anyway, that thing was fucking impressive. The armor, the speed, the damage output. Too bad about the mobility. I'd put some additional thrusters on that thing to make up for that. If that's what you made out of the scrap they had lying around, man, I'd hate to face the finished model."
>>
>>24947872
>"I can respect that. Cool aesthetics are fun, but it's more satisfying if it's functional. Which that thing definitely was. Seriously, if that was something you made using spare parts I'd hate to face the finished model."

The young engineer looks up at you and smiles at your compliment, but catches himself and reverts to neutral expression, however it's obvious he's very proud of his work.

>>24947865
"No, I wasn't supposed too. I had just finished making some adjustments when the alarms sounded. We didn't have any suits save for those two visiting someone. I realized that if I didn't do something you would have destroyed the lab or shot down the escape shuttles"

>>24947914

>>24947658

"Why are you saying all this? Don't you understand that we're enemies?"

"I understand that perfectly, but my...girlfriend is sick. She was experimented on by your people and she's dying. Your the only person who can help me save her."

"..." The young man seems conflicted upon hearing that...
>>
>>24947979
>I realized that if I didn't do something you would have destroyed the lab or shot down the escape shuttles
No, actually, we were going to ask you to surrender and hold you as POWs.

Yes, the Federation as a whole does tend to be assholes like that. And then there's actually decent people, stuck in the cogs of the mighty machine.
>>
>>24947979
>they were visiting someone
>lab full of research stuff

Oh boy.. in before we have to face CYBER Shiro later.
>>
>>24947979
"You're an engineer, I'm an engineer, we solve problems with whatever resources we have at hand, there's no Federation/Vagan divide between engineers. We have the same basic thought processes, we both sit there and bash our head against a problem until we give up, go outside, and see something completely unrelated that somehow makes it all click and it just makes sense, it all works. We both work weird hours obsessing over minutia and I'd be surprised if you didn't love pancakes. Please don't tell me you're a waffle person.

And we weren't going to destroy your labs or shoot down escape shuttles, we would've offered you a chance to surrender. We're polite like that even if not all of the Federation is."
>>
>>24947979
"Listen. I get it. You've probably been told all your life that guys like us riding around in Fed ships may as well be devils. We're not. We've been lied to by our higher-ups as well. No one in Federation space even knows you Vagan guys are human. Hardly anyone knew what happened after the Mars Birthday operation. The both of us are human though, and all we want to do is bring this conflict to an end with as little bloodshed as possible. Might take quite awhile for that to happen, but trust me. I don't have any desire to see the Vagans wiped out, but with the way they've been attacking our colonies, it sort of worked out as expected."
"All that aside, I need your help to save someone very special to me. Anything you know could be crucial."
>>
>>24947979
"For what it's worth, we wouldn't have destroyed the lab. Even if Mellis, that's her name by the way, didn't need your help; we planned on taking prisoners wherever possible. We're not exactly working under Federation sanction, here. So we don't have any backup, but at least we don't have to follow any orders regarding... well, I'm sure you know the story better than I do. I'm here to stop the attacks issuing from Ambat."
>>
>>24948153
Shit, accidentally erased the ending.

"That's all."

We have the same basic thought processes, we both sit there and bash our head against a problem until we give up, go outside, and see something completely unrelated that somehow makes it all click and it just makes sense, it all works. We both work weird hours obsessing over minutia and I'd be surprised if you didn't love pancakes. Please don't tell me you're a waffle person."

"What's a pancake?"

"Never mind. Point I'm trying to make is we weren't going to destroy your labs or shoot down escape shuttles, we would've offered you a chance to surrender. We're polite like that even if not all of the Federation is."

>>24948091
"Also, I get it. I don't have any desire to see the Vagans wiped out, but with the way they've been attacking our colonies, it sort of worked out as expected. All that aside, I need your help to save someone very special to me. Anything you know could be crucial."

"...Fine, I'll tell you what I know." The young man lets out a heavy sigh. "I'm Zeek Vavim"

Well Jake?

(Gonna hop in the shower, be back in a few minutes)
>>
>>24948187
"Nice to meet you, Zeek. Gimme a sec. Dorothy, could we get some pancakes in here?"
"So, tell me about that X-Rounder project they were conducting over there. Why kidnap kids? Why experiment on them? And how can I save them?"
"I mean, I heard from Desil that parents back on Mars sell their children to the army, is that why?"
>>
>>24948187
"Nice to meet you Zeek.

Hey, anyone nearby, would you mind bringing me a plate full of pancakes?

Right, I need to know more about X-Rounders and Artificial X-Rounder research."
>>
>>24948187
"Thank you, Zeek. I mean that more than you could know.

"What do you know about any medical research being done here? Specifically, research related to neurological experimentation. Mellis, that's her name, is an X-Rounder, a psychic. Yeah, apparently those are real. From what the doctors say, it looks like she received electrodes implanted in her brain to stimulate the region responsible for her abilities. But the constant stimulation is killing her, and we can't turn the implants off or remove them without lobotomizing her. We need to get the design documents for them so we know how to turn them off. "

>"Nice to meet you, Zeek. Gimme a sec. Dorothy, could we get some pancakes in here?"

The food arrives after a couple of minutes. Their warmed up left overs, but how Zeek takes to them you'd swear up and down it was mana from heaven.

>"I need to know more about X-Rounders and Artificial X-Rounder research. Why kidnap kids? Why experiment on them? And how can I save them? I mean, I heard from Desil that parents back on Mars sell their children to the army, is that why?"

Zeek shakes his head. "The Government doesn't kidnap them, many children give themselves up or join the military as test subjects. It's a lot better then dying on the streets from the solar wind sickness. Their is a strong interest in natural X-Rounders as it's been shown that they have a much higher combat potency then none-X Rounders. I've never heard of an 'artificial X-Rounder' before however I've worked with the new Psycomet Mu-szell that we've finished work on. It uses magnetic pulses to stimulate the X-Rounder region of the brain. It can have extremely negative effects if used on too high of a setting for extended periods, however if kept at a certain pulse rate and frequency it can boost a pilots X-Rounder abilities quite a bit without fear of death."

"Really? Well Mellis, my...girlfriend, is an X-Rounder who's received implants directly into her brain. They can't be removed without lobotomizing her. We need to get the design documents for them so we know how to turn them off. "

"Directly into her brain? Fascinating, er, I'm sorry..." Zeek shakes his head. "If it's anything like the Psycomet Mu-szell then the emitters draw power from the body's own electrical current, saves a lot of power and resources. As long as she's a live they'll keep going. However I think this can be fixed if you just adjust the magnetic pulse rate and frequency. However everyone is different and the emitter type can be a factor too. I assume if there is any data relating to it, it's probably on the drives you have or the ones headed back to Ambat"

Well Jake? Any other questions?
>>
>>24948867
"Thanks, Zeek. You may have just saved Melis' life."
>>
>>24948867
"Thanks, man. Is that all? Is there some doctor who worked on this?"
>>
>>24948867
"Do you know what data is on which shuttles? Was there any data left at the station?

Do you know anything about how you would lower the frequency of the pulses? As your tech while much of it is recognizable follows a number of divergent paths that make it hard for us to operate.

Also, how did you guys pull ahead so much tech-wise? The conditions you were in weren't the best for advancement and you're a couple generations ahead of mainstream Federation."
>>
>>24948867
"We'll take a look at them. If you're right, you just saved her life. Thank you."
>>
>>24948937
"We wiped the database completely and torched it. We split all the important data onto a 100 drives, 25 in each shuttle with some unimportant but possibly useful data in one of spare shuttles. I'm afraid I don't know where the specific data would be. The procedure would be simple, I'll give you the notes on how to do it, but you'll need the specific data from the notes or you'll be going in blind"

>So, how did you guys pull ahead so much tech-wise? The conditions you were in weren't the best for advancement and you're a couple generations ahead of mainstream Federation."

"Lord Ezelcant provided us with an immense amount of data to work with. We were able to build incredible technology for the past 70 years and we're starting to have some major breakthroughs with the data collected on the Gundam"

>>24948990
"I'm glad to be of help...I know what it's like to lose someone I love too. All Vagan's do"

>>24948890
>>24948918
"Zeek shakes his head. I only know what I can tell you from what I've worked on, privacy is important amongst our researchers. You'll still have to find the information. I believe someone actually requested all that data be moved somewhere...who was is? Black someone. Black...Raven?"

(Well it's thundering out guys. Gonna have to call it quits. See you all tomorrow, 3:00-3:30 EST, check my specially made twitter account in case I get steam rolled or something. How was today's part?)

(Also, yes I put this thread down as Part 17 in the archive http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/24940274/ )
>>
>>24948867
"In the case that it's not on the drives I have, do you where they'd be taken at Ambat?"

After we get any remaining information we need from Zeek:

"So child mortality from the solar winds is still a major issue in Vagan? The way Desil phrased it, it sounded like it had been solved. Then again, he is seven. He probably doesn't have that good a knowledge of the situation back on Mars. Do you know the mortality rate? I know that sounds morbid, but I honestly want to fix this. I don't agree with your methods, but you do have a legitimate grievance with the Federation. And having details on their crimes will make it easier to make accusations against the men responsible for this."
>>
>>24949027
Black Raven? Damn it, here we go again...
>>
>>24949081
Let's hope she requested the data only because of its relevance to cyborg technology. If she somehow knows who we are and why we'd want this, that is terrifying.
>>
>>24949116
Well, according to the tech tree, that data is necessary to create anti-X-rounder combat technology.
So... she has a tech tree too.
>>
>>24949081
I hope we get into a conversation with her.

"I shall destroy your precious Federation Jake Crocker!"

"Go for it, I hate pretty much everyone in charge over there. I'm just hitting the Vagan before they hit me. If you want to go an fuck up the Federation I'll be right behind you, next Thursday sound like a good time for a revolution for me?"
>>
>>24949116
she seems like the sort who would aim for the weak points. Besides, wih the way she acts, she'll likely torch the stuff herself and dangle the data in front of us as a way out. She lives, Melis lives.
>>
>>24949231
"Good time for a revolution to you?"

Why can't I get words right today.
>>
>>24949231
>good time for a revolution for me?
"So forward.

Not exactly hiding your desire to bone me, are you?"
>>
>>24949291
"Black Raven, you're a completely psychopathic cyborg who has killed more people than I would like to count and are pretty much an archetypal villain. So yeah, I kind of do want to bang you."

Jake Crocker knows the appeal of seducing the villain.
>>
>>24949338

"Buuuuuuut if I did, then a certain someone will probably shove a red hot pike up my ass. So no can do, toots."
>>
>>24950043
>inb4 Melis learns to share and Jake says goodbye to a quiet future life?
