Moonlight shines through the shattered stained-glass windows of your castle, looking out over the dark forests of Ulvenwald.

Your servants scuttle to and fro, cleaning up the puddle of urine the fool of a vampire hunter who smashed your windows left.

He has been long since taken away, left in the tender ministrations of your porcelain dolls.

He deserves no less, after the damage he's done.

You would thoroughly enjoy making him personally understand why fire is not to be brought near your dolls or your books, and why the laws of hospitality must be obeyed…

But you have another guest coming soon. The mayor of Mark, the city where your castle resides in Grand Victoria, is coming to play chess with you, and you will need to personally attend to him.

You step forward, and let the passageways of the castle take you to where you need to go.
>>
>>24975262
You are Isabella Katarina Markova, twelfth of the line of Carmilla, thirteen generations from Dracula, the First. This places you with enough blood and power to make you a minor noble in Shadescast, the city of the vampires, and possess your own castle- which does not necessarily have sensible geometry, and which is not always in the same place. Though your physical appearance is that of a young girl, you are actually three and a half centuries old.

You spend your time responding to requests from other vampires for lore, and holding tea parties and other social events, both with humans and vampires. On occasion, you indulge in adding one or two of them to your collection of porcelain dolls…
>>
>>24975274
ull Character sheet:Stats:

Ferocity: 23
Physical power and intimidation through savagery. Also may affect how animals treat you.

You have weak ferocity; most vampires are stronger than you and closer to their animal servants.

Eeriness: 60
The degree to which you can radiate eldritch wrongness. Affects the strength of your magical abilities and mindfuckery, and how good you are at scaring the hell out of people.

You are very, very eerie. Your domination is stronger than most vampires, and your magic and mindfuckery are strong.

Celerity: 29
How fast and dextrous are you? How good are you at flying?

Your celerity is average. More than half of vampires are faster than you to a greater or lesser extent. Of course, you can still outrun most any human.

Masquerade:32
How good are you at ignoring standard vampire weaknesses and hiding your vampiric nature? How good are you at persuading others?

You're about average at hiding your vampiric nature. Minor vampiric weaknesses don't bother you, but the sun will kill you, and you do slip up in front of guests occasionally.

Acumen: 54
How smart and obervant are you? How much occult and esoteric knowledge do you possess?

You are astute and perceptive. Few things get past you. In the political arenas of the vampire world, you are dangerous. Your knowledge of the occult is broad, allowing you to come up with spells for most situations. Other vampires come to ask for your help on matters of lore.

Discipline: 44
How much mental fortitude do you possess? In a contest of wills, can you protect yourself? How long can you survive without blood without entering a feeding frenzy?

Your willpower is above average. You can go for a month without feeding, though you will hate every second of it and it will weaken you. Powerful vampires would think carefully about plans that involved dominating you; they would not, however, dismiss them as flawed for that requirement.
>>
>>24975285
Holdings: 24 (15 Castle, 5 Catacombs, 4 Unspent)

You own a large castle and the catacombs beneath it. This castle exists in multiple places simultaneously; though it is rooted in Shadescast, the vampire city, it may also manifest in other locations.

The doors that are currently open go to:

Mark, in Grand Victoria, the land of the Ever-Shining Sun. Fields fleets of airships that cross oceans to many other lands, trading for spices, silks and tea. Watched over carefully by inquisitors both official and unofficial, carefully guiding the light of the Empress to where it is needed most. Dangerous political waters for a known vampire, but extremely profitable if played right.

An abandoned castle in Ulvenwald, the land of bountiful forests. Dark and foreboding in its rocky crags and forgotten groves, a perfect place for a vampire who doesn't want visitors to live. Other, stranger creatures are rumored to live in the woods as well, and the villagers give sacrifice to pagan gods to keep away the things in the dark.

Shadescast, the Vampire City. The true location of the castle, passed down through vampire sires. An eternally-dark city hidden in the depths of the earth, where vampire clans strive for dominance and the purity of your blood is everything. Founded by a direct child of Dracula- but the both that first vampire and his direct children have been gone for centuries. Some say he is dead. Few believe it.
>>
>>24975292
Servants: 24 points.
15 Castle: Dolls and House Staff
5 Catacombs: Personal Butler
4 unspent.

Your servants:
Personal Butler and Valet
This long-standing member of your household staff is utterly devoted and incredibly competent. He has the duty of maintaining your personal rooms and protecting and reviving you should you be 'killed'.

Dolls
Your collection of porcelain dolls.
Collected from those foolish enough to challenge you or worthy enough to deserve a place in your collection, these dolls are the result of extended ritual torture, creating perfect, beautiful servants with only a shred of their former selves left within them. Most people will mistake them for completely ordinary dolls until they start moving…

Household Staff
The remainder of your human servants, who do mundane jobs around the castle such as food preparation. Have all been dominated for so long they've forgotten how to think without orders.
>>
>>24975295
Your vampiric strengths and weaknesses:

Cast a shadow or appear in a mirror any time you want.
Cross running water easily.
Ignore the power of garlic, though it offends your senses.
Go out on a cloudy day with heavy clothing and a parasol without lighting on fire, though it's still uncomfortable.

You cannot approach someone faithfully presenting a holy symbol to repel you, nor can you walk on consecrated ground. Holy water burns like acid; in food it is a very nasty poison.

Anything that will kill a human will kill you, but you will regenerate from most minor wounds. Lethal ones will result in you reforming in your coffin over a period of a few days; this may be longer in extreme cases, particularly deaths from fire or holy magic. If you are staked, decapitated, burned, or exposed to sunlight while in your coffin, you will stay dead.

You are faster than any human, but slower than a lot of vampires. Some humans can approach your level of brute strength, which makes you very weak for a vampire. However, you make up for this with your supernatural powers and mental strength.
>>
>>24975301
Your supernatural powers are as follows:
- Dominate 99% of humans with no save on direct eye contact. Even other vampires will have trouble resisting your hypnotic gaze.
- Extended domination on the order of years will result in utterly devoted slaves.
- You can only maintain so many dominations at once; around 20ish is your current limit.
- Nudge humans to like you and follow your suggestions with your voice.
- Focusing your voice on an individual, cause them to take any course of action you can phrase reasonably. The individual may resist this.
- You have minor telekinesis and can generate small illusions at will.
- You may choose to passively radiate an aura of sanity damage by revealing your true, cursed form.
- You may become mist, a bat, a cloud of bats, a wolf, or a shadow at will.
- You can ride the senses of animals easily, and the senses of dominated intelligent servants with more preparation. This leaves your body in a trance, but in whatever form you left it in (so you can possess something while leaving your body as fog.)
- You posses blood and shadow magic. In dark areas you can make shadows come alive and obey your will. You may choose to spend blood in your body to cast any type of thaumaturgy you wish. Blood from others works as well, but most blood magic requires writing in blood, so incidental wounds are unlikely to work for much more than giving you a tracking device and wedge into the target's mind.
>>
>>24975307
On blood:
- Vampire blood is addictive and will give you an in into the mind of humans that drink yours. If you drink of the blood of a vampire and are fed upon by that vampire, you may rise as a vampire on death- but it's not a guaranteed thing. Ritual may increase the chances, but it's never certain that someone will rise from the grave.
-Vampire spawn require the blood of their sire to live for the first year they rise from the grave. They are easily influenced by their sire, but will naturally grow to resist this.
- If you do not feed for long enough, you will fall into a deep, death-like sleep until you are reawakened by blood or something with a pulse. As you near this, your instinct to feed will grow stronger and stronger. People who awake starving vampires rarely survive.
>>

The system we are using is roll-under. If you roll under your stat on a d100, you succeed.
>>
OH SHIT IT'S VAMPIRE QUEST.

Next time tell us the approx server time of the next thread before you split.

Archived thread 1 for you, although you may want to do it yourself in the future so as to get the tags / description you want.
>>
>>24975262
Shall we step directly into meeting the mayor, or is there anything you wish to do first? you have about an hour before he arrives.
>>
>>24975386
Thanks, but my schedule is wierd enough at the moment that this is basically happening on an ad-hoc basis.

I'll remember to give my best guess next time, though.

Thanks for the archive, by the way.
>>
>>24975397
Well make sure we clean ourself up and get properly dolled up, it wouldn't do to not be looking our best.

Fixing the broken windows if we have the time, letting any sunlight inside would be bad.

We've already directed our Servants to fixing up what they can and salvaging the damage, make sure a nice sitting room, along with tea and snacks, is prepared for us and the Mayor away from the clusterfuck and damages.
>>
>>24975427
Roll 1d100 for our Acumen to arrange things such that nothing appears unsusal for the Mayor.
>>
Prepare for audience with the mayor.
Receive him in an undamaged wing of the castle.
Act like nothing is wrong. Save face.
>>
>>24975397
Have our servants clean the piss up if the haven't already.

Be ready to have the Mayor directed to a suitable (non vandalized) room when he gets here. Not sure if we greet him ourselves or make a butler do it. Whatever. Whoever greets him should avoid the damage.

>>24975408
Your welcome. And for time, a range of hours would be nice, as well as whenever you think the next day is. You can make a twitter to say daily if there's gonna be a thread or not if you're planning to keep this quest going for any amount of time.

Man, we're fucked if we ever get in physical combat with a vamp and have to roll under 23 (although when both people have stats I don't know how they interact).
>>
>>24975442
The twitter is a decent idea.

>>24975454
Rolls are first with commentary. If you just roll and don't talk, I reserve the right to ignore your roll if I want.
For important checks I may take best of three.
This one will be used since you asked a question.
>>
>>24975472
Opposed rolls, whoever gets a success first wins. If both get a success, whoever has the most degrees of success wins (furthest under their stat.)
>>
>>24975489
ah, makes sense. I'm assuming if we fight with normal humans they'll have stats in the teens or so?
>>
>>24975484
kay.

Are you going to have situational bonuses ever lower (raise?) the dc for actions? Like having the high ground and a holywater dipped spear would be way better than being unarmed in a physical fight.

Or the element of surprise. Or poisoning our enemies first. Things like that. They have effects on the roll reqs I assume. Yes?
>>
>>24975500
Normal human skills max out around 25. As such, highly-trained humans can actually beat us in a straight-up fight because we're tiny and have less leverage and weight.

Of course, they will never make it that far if we're not idiots.
>>
This human will believe what we wish. We could receive him in a cellar and tell him it’s a palace in the clouds if we chose.
Don’t allow him to suspect anything might be wrong.

Split our brave huntsman’s tongue and break his hands and feet. Just in case.
>>
>>24975525
>Implying they wouldn't become insane before they could land a single punch.

Circumstance modifiers are of course involved.
Poisoning someone will lower their stats.
Powerful weapons and situational advantages will increase Ferocity.

The servants are quickly and efficiently directed to repair the stained-glass window, and you remember to have the wards on the dollhouse activated so that the vampire hunter has no chance of accidentally interfering with your game of chess. Then you retire to your chambers to prepare for appearing in public.

> How do we present ourselves in public?
> Sweet and Childlike
> Dark and Elegant
> Wise and Learned
> Occult and Mysterious
> Other?

As always, there are no insignificant choices.
>>
>>24975484
>Rolls are first with commentary. If you just roll and don't talk, I reserve the right to ignore your roll if I want.
Even on things where the action is already clearly defined? Seems a bit silly to add commentary on how we tell Acumen to clean this mess.

I get that some rolls really need it, but with others it's a bit much.
>>
>>24975594
>> Other?
Jailbait
>>
>>24975602
As I said, I reserve the right. If something is massively obvious then I may just take the first roll, but I want to encourage participation in the thread. There will almost always be something to discuss; the post doesn't have to be relevant to the roll, just to the thread.
>>
>>24975594
Public? I thought the Mayor was coming to us?

No matter.

Dress dark and elegant.
>>
>>24975594
> Sweet and Childlike

Milking that creepy kid schtick as much as possible. Turning to dark and cruel if it doesn't get us what we want.
>>
>>24975645
More accurately, how do we present ourselves to official guests such as the mayor.
>>
>>24975654
I was kind on the fence about picking S&C at first, but I was probably overthinking it. I'll change >>24975645 to sweet and childlike.
>>
Sweet, proper, precise.
The gas light empire is in love with itself.
Conflate us in his mind with his favorite child, or a dead one.
Just because were damned doesn’t mean we cannot see that the empire is the greatest and most laudable thing in the whole of the earth. It would be a crime not to collude with us. To offer us a chance for redemption.
>>
>>24975618
Silly anon. Isabella is already jailbait.

That actually makes me think, though. We should totally frame some poor bastard as a child molester.
>>
>>24975737
The hunter perhaps? Or maybe his family, just to twist the knife further.
>>
>>24975594
Start as Sweet and Elegant, like the daughter of nobility we are. Change to fit the mayor's reaction.
>>
>>24975755
Nah. He's getting dollified.
>>
>>24975654
>>24975678
You smile into the mirror, and turn to carefully observe the white and pink dress that you've selected, considering the impression of childlike innocence you've built; and you select a tiny pink top hat fascinator to place atop your head. To all the world, you look like just another spoiled heiress...

Which, of course, will only increase the effect should you choose not to act like one.

> Dressed this way, you gain +5 Masquerade, +5 Eeriness, and -5 Ferocity.
> No-one will really believe you're a monster while you're wearing this, which will make it all the more shocking when you are...

You descend the stairs of your castle and move into the front hall to recieve your guest.

> The mayor will arrive if nobody breaks in with any more preparations.
>>
>>24975594
>Sweet and Childlike

We are a Noble, we will always have an air elegance. And we radiate eldritch power so we always appear Occult and Mysterious.
>>
>>24975776
The mayor already knows us though, he's gonna expect whatever we decide because it's retroactively 'canon' and how he knows little miss vamp.
>>
>>24975813
Yes; essentially you've just decided what your default approach is to interacting with human officials.
>>
>>24975781
No one said we couldn't do it to his family, ruining them before/after we dollify his mind. Twist the knife.

>>24975800
> The mayor will arrive if nobody breaks in with any more preparations.

>>
>>24975829
IE, there is still time left, but if nobody in thread has anything else to do before the mayor arrives we'll skip to his arrival.
>>

Squeeeeeeeee

Time 4 murder!Not really.

>>24975839
Yes, let's do that. It's time for tea and chess!

Speaking of which, we can actually eat things that isn't blood, correct?
>>
>>24975839
Let's make sure we've got somewhere non-wrecked to welcome him, and maybe freshen up (though we might just be able to do that magically) so we don't look like we've been laying in a dusty coffin, avoiding wrinkled clothes, etc. Gotta look proper for social visits.
>>
>>24975839
Let's get to it.
>>
>>24975843
The servants have prepared everything necessary for your usual game.

>>24975848
I'll remember that. I was thinking that the quest name was rather generic looking at the archive on sup/tg/.

>>24975853
Yes, we can eat normal food, though it doesn't sustain us. We still taste things normally, of course.

>>24975865
Has been done.
>>
>>24975839
Nah, just make sure the hunter is unconscious before the mayor shows up. And show him nothing but the utmost courtesy and grace.
>>
Actually we may want to make sure the hunter isn't about to start screaming if he's within earshot.

Perhaps hold off on the dolls torturing him if he's not in a soundproofed chamber.
>>
>>24975871

When the heck are you going to have a highly destructive little sister?
>>
>>24975875
>>24975913
We made sure to refresh the wards on the Doll House. It'll be fine.

We should make a point of mind-raping him as soon as our gust is gone. He might know something that is time sensitive.
Wouldn't want to miss it because we were dragging our feet.

>>24975800
A knock comes from the front of the castle, and the servants open the small inset door in the grand gates as the mayor comes inside, handing his wet coat and hat to a servant as he steps out of the constant rain and fog of Mark.

A large, jovial man, the Mayor grins at us and spreads his arms wide, the gold chains across his plump belly jingling as he calls across the hall to us.

"Isabella! It's been too long since I've last seen you. I do apologize if I'm a bit late."

His eyes twinkle merrily, and he steps across the hall towards us in long strides, stopping as he nears us to bow formally and kiss our hand, as custom dictates.

He crouches down so that his face comes to our eye level, and nods seriously.

"Well then, not to rush you, miss Markova, but I would like to get to our game as soon as possible. I've worked up quite an appetite walking through the rain to get here!"

The mayor, of course, has no idea of your actual history; he believes you to be an orphan heiress, quickly thrust into your role as mistress of the house. A boisterous man, your careful manipulation has made him start to consider himself a bit of a father figure to you- which, of course, makes him all the more eager to overlook any little slips you make.

A few more weeks of your careful game, and he'll be under your thumb for good. At least, that's what you estimate.

But for now, you need to talk with him and pretend to lose at chess.

> How do you reply?
>>
>>24975979
Agreed. The sooner we interrogate and indoctrinate him, the better.
>>
Naw, our brave huntsman was a fool on a suicide mission, even if he didn’t know it.
After tea we should inspect our various holdings and try and guess what he was meant to distract us from
>>
>>24976050
His actual name is Jake Redford, by the way.
>>
>>24976050
Start by kissing both sides of his cheeks.

"Of course Mayor, as always it is a pleasure to see you.

Right this way so you may sate your appetite and teach me more about chess. At this rate I may even beat you in a game eventually due to your skilled tutelage."
>>
>>24976050
"Ah, I would be a bad host if I didn't offer at least some refreshment, Mr. Redford. And I'm surprised you didn't hire a coach* in this driving rain - frugal as ever I see!"

*I don't know what level of tech Grand Victoria has, airships could be 1800s or even more advanced than modern, though from the name I assume closer to the first

Anyway, flattering and relatively simple dialogue since he thinks we're a kid. Bet Isabella relishes talking to people in the know so she can use proper language.
>>
Hey guy, what can we use our holdings points for? Make new portals? Properties?
>>
>>24976050
Offer him tea and whatever we have the servants make. Crumpets?

I'd say to hug him, but I don't think we're quite there yet.

>>24976120
Do we normally call him Mr. Redford or Jake? Jake seems a bit too informal. Maybe Mr. Mayor?
>>
>>24976050
"It is wonderful to see you again Mayor [name].
Let us go to the lounge and enjoy our game."

If we're not actually trying to get anything from this, just conditioning him for later, can make small talk about Mark and get some exposition about the city and what we want to get from it?
Or what we can get from it.
>>
>>24976203
Sir? Sirrah? Lord? Mister? Sure are a lot of possible titles
>>
>>24976179
Coaches is correct.
Redford is an avid outdoorsman, but eats more than enough to make up for whatever excersise he might happen to gain from it.

>>24976191
Currently they represent power we have to claim land and other things we want. A small house is five points of Holdings.

>>24976214
Mayor Redford is useful to us as he knows the local political landscape and talks about his work. He also can acquire titles and deeds for us, and quash investigations at the local level. This is useful to us, because Grand Victoria is obsessed with purity; religious types are everywhere and at least some of them will hassle us just for having a castle. The Mayor keeps the Jehovas' Witnesses equivalents away for us.
>>
>>24976268
And we get more points via money or...?
>>
Tilt head forward, smile demurely, mostly with our eyes. After he takes our hand and kisses our glove squeeze his fingers for an instant with the hint of a frown behind a crooked smile. Turn bodily away so he can’t see our face, count to three, regain composure. Start walking towards the study.
“I’m very happy see you… I’ve almost finished that book you lent me. The queen’s gambit is scintillating. Though I think I’ll still get most of my work done with pawns.”
>>
>>24976268
Ah, he sounds like a useful fellow then, and with his mantle of office we can't really off him without a really good reason anyway, so makes sense to use him for menial work and distractions.

If we use any kind of powers on him, say to make him more obedient or have him ignore anything strange or incriminating he sees regarding us, could the inquisition find out in some way (through magic would be most obvious)? As long as he's easily manipulated like this, it might be unwise to increase our hold on him if so - with his position he's probably more likely than most to get scrutinized.
>>
>>24976214
>>24976179
Mayor Redford nods to you and smiles.
"Why thank you, Isabella. I'm sure your cook's meals are as delightful as ever."

You patiently steer him to a seat in the lounge, where the chess board has been set up for you to play your weekly game. You're white, as usual. He compliments you on the pastries that your staff has prepared, and you are unsurprised to see that he's already eaten three. He's going to keep your cooking staff on their feet.

As you consider your opening move, you go over in your mind the tidbits of information that the Mayor has told you before about Mark, and think of what you'll ask about during this game...

This is the main reason why we don't just Dominate him. Domination can be detected; more subtle forms of control such as that of your voice cannot.

Currently, the mayor will do small favors for you, but if he believes it will harm the populace as a whole he'll absolutely not do it.
Careful extention of your control will make him willing to do larger favors (such as deflect real investigations from on high) and protect you from your enemies. There's no real drawback to this until you start actually using favors, at which point someone might notice the mayor's odd behaviour.

You go over what you know of Mark and Grand Victoria in your mind.

Grand Victoria is an island nation in the middle of a cold sea, where rain and fog are facts of life. The nation is ruled by divine right; should the emperor or empress be deposed, it is a result of them losing the favor of heaven.

As such, the existence of vampires, sorcerers and such are viewed as direct challenges to the rule of the crown, and are preached against daily in town squares and churches. Formal and informal organizations dedicated to their eradication exist, both at a local and national level. Each town has an office of the Witch-Hunter; they are in charge of trying cases of witchcraft. However, many of them are incompetent.

At a higher level, the Inquisition hunts for bigger threats, examining nobles' estates and merchants' houses.

You've also heard whispers of a secret organization, reporting directly to the Empress Hikari Gloriana, that handles the most dangerous and powerful work- but if they exist, they are very good at their job, because no-one has found and solid evidence of their existence.

Why would a vampire wish to live in this place, where every corner searches with prying eyes for corruption…?

Power and money. Grand Victoria is the largest airfaring nation, and while it might not have the best technology in the world, it comes in a close second. Its colonies stretch across the globe, bringing ideals of honor and nobility wherever it goes. It's the centre of a merchant empire.

And not all nobles taken by the Inquisition are vampires. In fact, the majority of them aren't. The inquisition's unparalleled authority means that if you can get inside it, it becomes a powerful, powerful weapon to make your way in the world with. A careful vampire can amass great holdings and large numbers of servants here, not to mention fleets of ships to spread their influence elsewhere…

So this place is Japangland. Ok.

Mark is a costal town, much like most of Grand Victoria. One of the larger manufacturing centres of the nation, it holds great shipyards where the airships of the nation are born from canvas, wood and gas.

Its nobility are many, but not so many that your presence has not been noted. A heiress with a castle is a useful political tool for many of the nobles here, and they undoubtedly will be sending you visiting cards as soon as they can figure out a way to do it in such a way that their rivals don't find out.

Recently there's been some trouble with workers at one of the shipyards; they're complaining about terrible pay and low safety standards.

Let's ask about the different colonies. They sound oh so exotic! Then we can see how that business with the workers turned out. I'd imagine the formation of unions and such will be quite a bother for profits. Maybe e could even attach some strings to that show and manipulate the formation of a union with one of our minions as its head.
>>
>>24976728
Ask about how his job has been going, any troubles he's been having.

If he's unmarried ask about his marriage prospects and any eligible ladies. If married ask after his no doubt lovely wife and any children he has if he has kids.

Check in on the general state of Mark, how he's planning on dealing with the workers.

Of course make sure to look like an overly curious kid when asking, not conniving.
>>
>>24976728
"So, how are things going in our put-upon town? The Empress still demanding ships at unreasonable rates? I've been too busy going through the ropes of estate management to keep up with the news I'm afraid."

I figure pretending we're busy learning to do noble things and politics from our experienced butler both allows us to more easily manipulate people (they underestimate us + see us as more innocent and worth helping, I figure such things would carry a lot of weight in Grand Victorian society) and have excuses for not being available for social calls when we're other places.

The head of the United Airship Builder's League is actually our puppet. I like.

You make small talk for a little while, easing the mayor into the game; then, while he's distracted by a difficult move, you ask about the shipyard strikes.

"Oh, that? It's a bad business all around. It's the fault of Lord Inzen, I'd say. He's been working them harder than usual, undoubtably because he wants to swell the ranks of his own merchant fleet. Sure, he promised them a share of the profits once the trades come back- but that could take years, and right now the workers aren't getting any time to be with their families. I'm doing what I can to settle things down, but…"

He shrugs.

You nod understandingly, though you make sure to adopt a glassy-eyed look.
Then you perk up a little and smile at him as if you've just had the best thought ever.
"Do you think it could be witches?"
He laughs, a deep guffaw that's almost contagious.
"I doubt it, Isabella. It's just your every day people annoying each other. We've had no witches in town we know of for weeks."
"Awwww. I was hoping I'd get to see one for real."
He shakes his head.
"That's no matter for a little girl like you to worry about. Leave that to the Witch-Hunter General. Now, where was I…?"

He place his hand on a piece and makes a move that would lead to his being checkmated in four if you were actually playing this game seriously.

Repairs and maintenance are appreciated; failing to maintain it will make it like you less.
Adding superficial things such as tapestries and furniture is good; the more expensive, the better.

>>

You decide against taking anything from his mind at the moment; it's too much of a risk that he'll be investigated at some point in the future.

>>24977549
Are we involved in the airships in any way? If not we should be.

>>
I have a plan. Outline of one anyway.

Once we have control of the Mayor. We find out where witches are burned, then, using the disgruntled workers, we start a riot that wrecks the place. Make sure a few fires get started if need be.

Then, we offer a generous donation to the city and have the site rebuilt.
We are a new young Heiress, doing something to attract favour and gain respect would be completely expected of us.

Have the new witch-burning site constructed with hidden illusion charms and a teleportation circle.

People see the witches burn and hear their screams - never realizing it's just illusions.
The witches come to us. Some will be kept and trained to serve us, some will be sold on to others. The useless ones will either join the serving staff or do for a snack, whatever.

Opinions?
>>
>>24977549
Let's try getting into the airship business. That's the whole appeal of this place, yeah? So let's take advantage of it.
>>
>>24977629

>>
>>24977615

>>
>>24977587

>>
>>24977652
And how do we get more holdings? Money? Property?
>>
>>24977615
I like this. Play on our perceived vulnerability.
>>
>>24977668
I'm also still kinda fuzzy on how holdings work in general.
>>
>>24977668
>>24977706
Holdings represents both abstract wealth and
actual buildings or places you control. You gain more as you gain status and wealth.

Holdings come with an equal number of Servants. We have four Servant points also undefined, but usually the two go together (IE, if we own an airship yard we also spend an equal number of Servant points on the workers.)

>>24977634
>>24977609
You can either invest now or later. At the moment, you don't have enough Holdings to make a controlling interest anywhere, but investing may make you more Holdings from the airships your workers build.
>>
>>24977744
So, in theory, we could set up some sneaky scheme that just made us look rich as fuck to artificially inflate our holdings, which would allow us to take over some profitable thing and then actually acquire some holdings that are less abstract.

Interdasting.
>>
>>24977744
Hmmm, I see. Perhaps it might be good to ask the Mayor to see if there's someone around to help us with our investments, to make connections with the airships. For us to Dominate and enslave.
>>
>>24977668
>>24977706

If we want to make some easy money, I have a plan.

OP said we can establish new doors in places with our power and will.

We establish a new door somewhere that has a lot of poverty, lots of street urchins and beggars.

Then we open one in a place with a thriving slave trade.

We head out at night and use a little influence to lure in the poor, then ship them directly to the slave market.

Quick cash. Once we've milked as much from the local poor as we can without drawing fire down on us, we close that door and move on.
>>
>>24977824
Yes. Which is why Holdings are defined in the top post to show how much of your holdings represent things you actually own.
>>
>>24977830

>>
>>24977830
Yes, you can do this. However, establishing too many new portals at once will annoy the castle as it becomes "stretched", and it may eventually stop cooperating.
>>

>>
>>24977863

>>
>>24977827
Spending some holdings on advisors is certainly something you can do, and it would be quite cheap (relatively speaking.)

1 Holdings for a dedicated lawyer and investor who is not yet under your Domination.

>>24977897
The Catacombs are where you reform if you are killed. As such they are heavily trapped and contain multiple secret passageways and escape tunnels, as well as some of your more valuable items.

Your Butler came with them and is dedicated to your immediate revival should you ever reform there.

If there is a suitable market in Shadescast, we can just open one door.

These things can be integrated.
Build wealth with slave trade. Once we have enough to buy a controlling interest in the ship yard and sponsor the rebuilding of the witch-burning site.
We start a riot with his workers, wreck some of his holdings and smash the old witch-burning site.

>>
>>24978221

They get teleported right to our holding cells.

You look a little downcast, and turn the conversation to the meanness of Lord Inzen and how you need somebody to watch your estates in case of people like that.

The mayor, of course, is quick to volunteer, and he also recommends a good investment manager to help you with your estate.

As you let him checkmate you for what feels like the hundredth time, you smile and bid him goodbye, thanking him for the game, and knowing that he's slowly but surely coming closer to the utter devotion to you he's destined for.

But for the moment, as he steps outside once again into the driving rain, you have other business to attend to.

You step down a side corridor and down a flight of stairs, carefully approaching your dollhouse. A silver key unlocks the door, and you step inside, carefully avoiding the tea stains on the floor.

> Continued
>>
>>24978488

The dollhouse is a cheery place, its floor covered with teacups and spoons and bowls. A doll perches on a pile of overturned bowls in one corner, sipping tea from a porcelain cup. Murals cover three of the walls; the fourth is a large, ornate gate into the cheery, wonderful world of the tea party.

A window in the western wall lets in the bright glow of sunlight, and you bask in its warm glow as it passes over you.

The hunter lies slumped over onto the table, looking for all the world as if he's asleep. Charm bracelets adorn his wrists and feet, little treasures given to him by the dolls.

Then you blink, and let yourself see the truth...

The floor and walls, stained with blood in intricate designs.
The pile of skulls the doll perches atop.
The bones scattered all across the floor.
The hellish light that burns from the western wall, casting everything in fiery red.
The heavy, iron-banded door that takes up all of one wall.
The ropes that have cut into the skin of the hapless hunter, suspending him helplessly from the ceiling.
The burns, punctures and lacerations all across his body.
His teeth, scattered along the floor.

As you watch, the doll picks up one of his teeth, dips it into blood she's drinking, and crushes it in her teeth with a satisfying crunch.

The dolls have done well in the short time you've given them.

You doubt he can still speak. Not that it matters.

>>
>>24978592
Yeah, but I sincerely doubt that his Willpower at this point is anywhere near our Eeriness. I mean it might be good normally, but currently he's tied up and tortured, cut off from his God, and is missing a pile of teeth. He's not at top form, and even if he was we'd probably still have more Eeriness than he did Willpower.
>>
>>24978592
No, because his Discipline is lower than our Eeriness.

He fails by five degrees due to circumstance modifiers.

We succeed.

We win the opposed test.

>>
>>24978477
My plan is assuming we can ward the magic so no one can detect it. If that's not viable we'll do something else.

Providing it is possible, this would get us the most potential witches. We can pick out the cream of the crop for ourselves and sell the rest for a nice profit.

The people see and hear the illusion of witches burning, then get left with a pile of ash and some blackened bones.

No one is the wiser and no one asks questions or comes looking for them.

>>24978416
>we could have him put political or financial rivals of our on the stake to burn.

Yeah, OP already said this was a thing. We'll secure influence with the hunters with our generous donation.
That will give us the opening to invite a few of them over to socialise. Give it a few months and they'll be eating out of our hands just like the Mayor.
>>
>>24978550
The hunter can't even raise his head to look into your eyes.

So you grab him by his jaw and force him to look.

The red-hot tendrils of a probe that doesn't care about the person behind it rip into his mind, setting his world on fire. He only knows how to show you what you want to know. It is his reason for existing.

A man. In a heavy cloak. Why are you not surprised that you can't see his face? Right, because the person
A very large bag of coins.
A small piece of porcelain…
Someone took a piece of your dolls to him.
The person who sent this man was in your castle.
Either as a guest, or without you knowing.
And it's not on the hunter.

Someone still has a piece of one of your dolls, and is using it against you.
This is a larger problem than you thought.

You tear into the hunter's mind with even greater fury, but nothing else remains. He is useless to you. Whoever sent him hid his tracks well.

> What do you do with the Hunter?
>>
>>24978774
*The person you are looking for is not an idiot.
Accidentally a sentence.
>>
>>24978774
I say fuck with his head. Let the dolls keep on playing with their new toys for as long as they like, and when we come to visit him we'll drain some of his blood and care for him a bit, make him fear the dolls and look forward to us coming and draining him. Because inducing Stockholm Syndrome is hilarious.

For now drink some of his blood and bandage him up a little bit.
>>
>>24978774
Can he still think / feel pain?

Or is he just a big fleshy vegetable.
>>
>>24978774
Well that's no good. Call all the dolls together and try and find out which doll is missing a piece. And then for being such good toys, let them play with the hunter. Be sure to have him changed before he dies though.
>>
>>24978582
Where did you think they maintain their porcelain skin?
Of course they eat teeth and bones.

>>24978844
The mindrape's knocked him unconcious, but he'll come around soon. And yes, he can definitely feel pain. The dolls are good at inflicting pain.

They knew we were a vampire and are likely a rival of ours. Probably another vampire with a reason to have beef with us.
>>
>>24978774
Darn, we did get any information on his home town or social habits? Could be useful in breaking him, again and again. For now give him a few drops of our blood, whisper that he looks so much prettier now, and leave him to the dolls.
>>
>>24978890
Ok then. If he was a vege then I was gonna have him be the start of project hoboflesh.

But he's not. So new torture!

Use blood magic. Make his skin on his belly grow long and flappy. Then cut some off when he wakes up and stitch it shut. Repeat a few times until we have some fancy hunter leather for making doll clothes, leatherbound books, lampshades, etc.
>>
>>24978917
>>24978928
You can think of a few minor candidates, but nobody really leaps to the fore. And none of the dolls appear to be missing any porcelain; if you didn't miss it, then it must have been long enough that it's grown back natually.
>>
>>24978969
Well of course they aren't missing any porcelain, they're sitting in a room full of teeth and bones to fix themselves!
>>
>>24978901
Clearly its a fellow lower class noble. No one but magic users or vampires uses big face-concealing cloaks and not upper class noble would deign to use subtle tactics against us. Perhaps its one we publicly humiliated or one we took shit from?
>>
>>24978956
I approve of leather harvest torture.
>>
>>24978956

My money's on "bitch ass nigga wats to jack our castle"
>>
>>24979013
Agreed. We have to do the casting too, though. Unless the dolls have blood magic.

But we can do that when he passes out from the pain.
>>
>>24978956
This would normally cost you some hunger, but because you're using his blood it won't be an issue.
>>
>>24978774
>What do you do with the Hunter?
Let the dolls play once he wakes up. He can be a hobby for the next few years. We'll drop in an play every now and again.

>Someone still has a piece of one of your dolls, and is using it against you.
Some sort of sympathetic magic? By controlling a part of the doll he can influence the whole?

If that's the case it should go both ways. If the part is connected to the whole, the whole is connected to the part.

Inspect our dolls and find the one influenced by his magic. See if we can trace him.

If we can't, we'll lock the doll up so he can't use it for anything.
>>
>>24979037
Then lets do it!
>>
>>24979045
I mean using it against you politically.
But you can roll Eeriness and Acumen to see if you can track the piece of doll that's missing.
>>
>>24979045
Second
>>
>>24979037
Then start the magic while he's still out.

Then order the dolls to hold off til he wakes up. We want to watch, but he can't see us. So sit in the shadows and watch them cut. Then we stitch him back up.

Rinse and repeat
>>
>>24979017
Our pad is very swank, yes. Its possible it might be a commoner vampire trying to rise in the ranks. Taking a castle and drinking our blood would make them a noble as the OP said.

We should use some of our holding points to get some 'underworld' connections in Vampire Land. Someone wants us dead, so lets find out who they are and kill them publically to make such attacks stop happening.

He got lucky against us. That could happen again, we need some extra security.

There ought to be some major sympathetic connections there, which should make it easier.

And if we need more blood for it we have a convenient bag of it hung up for us.

What sort of terms are we on with our sire? Could we call him in for a favor if need be?

You examine all the dolls, but can't make any links from any of them.

But then you realize something.

Your finger skips back along the row of dolls, as you count under your breath...
"thirty-two... fifty... sixty... sixty-one..."

A doll is missing.

You hadn't noticed, earlier- your collection keeps growing, so sometimes you forget dolls.

But one is definitely missing.

> And let's end the session there, folks. I have to go to class soon and this is a good cliffhanger to end on.

What is our relationship like with our sire and with the rest of the vampire community? Are we known, trusted, respected, liked, disliked?

>sixty-one
And I didn't notice at first, but sixty-one.

61 dolls. Fuck yeah. So good.
>>
>>24979626
Well it makes sense; everyone has a fetish or two, so lots of people reading BFQ want to play as a good character that's a futa or into BDSM or whatever. People interested in vampire quests probably just have more tolerance for extreme violence than most.
>>
>>24979738
We've been alive for a while. And a very busy girl.
>>
>>24979738
Possibly more. She wasn't counting all of them...
>>
This quest is promising and I can't wait for more world building about the world occupied completely by trans-dimensional vampires. Politics, empire building, magic studying, the sky's the limit!
>>
>>24979756
Aside from the main character being a dickgirl, BFQ was surprisingly vanilla. There was some minor bondage, a strap-on, and anal.
>>
>>24979756
We're not even being that fetishy about it in this case, sure we're sadistic and fucked up, but it's not about sex, it's about power.

I don't really see Isabella as the sort to really care all that much about sex, there's the logistical problems from having a child's body, and tea, blood, dolls, and fucking with people's heads is a lot more interesting.
>>
>>24979881
well sure, I didn't mean it was anything sexual (though the original poster might), just saying. Fetishes aren't inherently negative or repelling, while killing, maiming etc is, so it's hardly surprising that a quest that focuses on the former attracts a more squeamish crowd that prefers good characters over one focusing on a fantasy creature with which the latter is commonly associated.
>>
>>24979995
Okay.

Note, I'm just fine with sadism, it adds to the character and allows for some interesting stuff. But the moment being sadistic towards someone is detrimental to our health and position I am going to advocate for toning it down.

I'm aiming for a responsible Lawful Evil, we follow a rational code of conduct, respect hospitality, and don't randomly piss off potential allies or things that are too big for us to take down alone.
>>
>>24980055
Stupid evil will get you smacked down hard.
i can vouch for that.
>>
>>24980100
Just like stupid good would. Mainly it's just stupid that'll fuck us over.

What are sire/child relations usually like?
>>
>>24980100
What about the whole nabbing people if we think they're really pretty and would make good dolls?

Because you said we already did that; it's what part of our collection is from. Just confirming that this occasional indulgence is not "stupid evil".
>>
>>24980055
We are Isabella Katarina Markova, descendant 12 of the line of Carmilla and 13 generations from Lord Dracula the First. We will hold ourselves in a manner befitting our stature. We are not some animal enslaved to our hunger or our urges.
>>
>>24980143
As long as we do it safely and smartly that's not stupid evil, it's unnecessary, but it's not stupid.

Now if we took the daughter of a powerful noble in a public fashion we utterly deserve to have a fucking Witch Hunt unleashed on us.

>>24980159
Damn right motherfucker. Politeness, poise, and grace. We treat our guests well and follow proper etiquette of hospitality. Unless they fuck with us, then we end them.
>>
>>24980191
This. Smart, careful indulgences can be done.
Stupid ones? No.
>>
We should use the hunter as a guinea pig for things.
