Welcome everyone to another edition of Succubus Lord Quest! Hopefully one where Google documents doesn’t eat my fucking introduction for the second time!

Last time on Succubus Lord Quest, we brought the merchant twins of Stacy and Katlin to meet up with Roselle, one of the Gemelli Queens to talk about some various aspects of Gemelli, after which the twins agreed to become Succubi on their own terms. After this event, Brooklyn retired to his brand new room. Reading over the official documents of what his job as the Langy Royal Mage entails in addition to chatting it up with his new personal maid over some tea.

The morning after, Brooklyn went over to talk to Ada about some clarifications on his contract, in which we continue where we left off!

“Good, prehaps I’ll meet up with Brodin’s boss and have a small conversation of my own with him.” you reply to Marina. “As good as of a friend Brodin is, I’d probably like some more indepth information regarding the underworld, poltergeist, and the undead.”

“I’d have no idea about his whereabouts so you’d be on your own if you wish to converse with him.” Marina replies.

“What about Erika? Do we have any plans to reintegrate her back into the Langy family?” you ask.

“Hm... Erika...” Marina leans back into her chair as she taps her fingers together. “I don’t think it should be difficult but there’s a twofold problem with that.”

“Which are?” you ask.

“First is that she was originally going to be sacrificed by Langy for Demon Lord Articus. She could be brought back with no paperwork since Langy was doing this little ritual quite illegally, so since she was never officially banished from the Langy family she could be brought back in. The issue is that while Langy is dead, many of the higher nobles still retain their worship as Demon Lord Articus as their personal God. They may attempt to sacrifice Erika again simply because they failed to do so the first time.”

“She’s a Succubus. An Ayarian at that. Shouldn’t that not be an issue?” you ask.

“No, it really shouldn’t. More of a minor note. The bigger issue at hand is whenever or not Sebastien wishes to release her.” Marina notes.

“Oh right, her training.” you reply.

“Exactly. It’d be mainly up to Sebastien’s whim to let her go. ...And of course the girl’s own prerogative.” Ada explains.

“So about the money. I was going to get some things that were vaporized in my house. All I’d need to for that and my laboratory is just give a promissory note to whomever I visit?” you ask.
>>
[2/2]

“That is correct yes. Just head down to the Finance Department and they’ll give you a small collection of personal Langy notes for you. So long as the purchase doesn’t add up to the amount specified in your contract then you should be able to easily perform the purchase.” Marina says.

“I swear all these minor laws are such a pain...” you mutter to yourself.

“Yes... The dress code in itself is particularly problematic.” Marina mutters.

“Pardon?” you ask.

“The required dress code for females in the Langy court is that dresses must be worn at all times except when undertaking a job where such a uniform would hamper the user significantly.” Marina says.

You look down at yourself, noticing the sizable protrusion from your chest to signify what sex you are. “I’ll... Go ahead and repeat myself. Pardon?”

“I was tempted to impersonate a Prince when I learned of this as well.” Ada tells you.

(Anything else you wish to ask her? Also, please feel free to vote on what I should work on next. The master skill list document which contains all the skills in this Quest, or the magic document which outlines magic)

Yay!
>>
>>24978563
Do you intend to change it eventually?
>>
>>24978563
I think its time to go to brodin to see if he knows where his boss is.
>>
>>24978563
Actually I did have a question for her...

Right. We should discuss our actions against the local banditry and whether Ada has any plans to fill the power vacuum we're openning up before other squatters (bandits,a competing township or whatever) show up and set up shop on top of the queens (don't say that last part out loud).
>>
>>24978563
"Technically I'm the magical authority here, so if I say that MAGIC requires me to wear pants then they should just listen. Though I've come to likes dresses, they're comfy.

Are there any nobles in particular I ought to watch out for? Any large plans you have running currently that you would like a hand with or would like me to avoid doing stuff to interfere with it?

Any plans on what to do about all the dead bandits outside? There's a bit of a power vacuum going on right now.

How goes plans on taking out the Paladin properly?"
>>
>>24978563
"We are talking those unwieldy, giant skirted, impossible to run in formal dresses, right? Because then I'd need you to tell me how to petition you for a special dispensation from that rule."
>>
>>24978563
The magic document could be nice, it would get rid of the 'discussions' that seem to be popping up.
>>
>>24978732
Oh. Right. We need a new plan to take our the Paladin and Blizzy's remaining bodyguards...
>>
>>24978810
It doesn't have to be an impractical dress, just a dress. We wear practical dresses most of the time, we aren't going to go full 17 layered petticoats with a wire bustle, but most of the time our dresses aren't going to get in the way.
>>
>>24978888
...that was kind of my point...just wanted to indirectly state "that's annoying but don't blow it out of proportion" to Ada.
>>
>>24978522

can't stay to participate but i still want to say that i love reading this quest's archive!

>sage for not being relevant to the quest.

[1/2]

"Technically I'm the magical authority here, so if I say that MAGIC requires me to wear pants then they should just listen. Though I've come to likes dresses, they're comfy.” You say as you adjust the bell of your dress.

“Don’t ever let Lamia hear you say that.” Marina warns.

“I won’t. Also should you be saying her name like that?” you ask.

“There are about 200 people with the name Lamia alone in Old TO.” Marina replies.

“Next topic then. Are there any nobles in particular I ought to watch out for? Any large plans you have running currently that you would like a hand with or would like me to avoid doing stuff to interfere with it?” you ask.

“I do have a few long term plans, but most of them are still in the planning phases, outside of trying to settle some of the more ambitious and daring nobles.” Marina replies. “You said yourself that you don’t plan to get into courtly intrigue, so my advice is not to worry about it. My only piece of advice is to be careful of the nobles who are directly related to Langy. Many of them still phrase Articus as their god and would sell us out without any hesitation.”

“Noted. Any plans on what to do about all the dead bandits outside? There's a bit of a power vacuum going on right now.” you ask.

“The bandits are just as much of a threat to each other as they are themselves. The latest Mercenary reports have them talking about some boogyman known as the ‘Black Flame Huntress’ or somesuch. Bandits...” Marina says sighing.

“Oh?” you ask.
>>
Oh, a mid-term thought. Any opinions on determining whether Roger would be interested in becoming a succubus (probably should ask about gender swapping instead of demonic transformation)? I kind of doubt it since he's gay, not trans, but it's always nice to grow our support net.
>>
[2/2]

“Yes. If anything those stupid rumours will have reached the ears of the Nords, who will come clamouring for a fight like the idiots they are.” Marina replies. “But while lacking in manners and etiquette, the Nords can still be handled diplomatically, so I am not concerned. Given that Fort Hope is one of the Northernmost settlements before the Great Frost, I’m not too concerned what lies north of Fort Hope other than ‘that’.”

“What about people moving in there? Will they find it?” you ask Marina.

“If they do then our friends will have a lovely feast for themselves. While still weak it appears their power has grown to the extent in where they can use powers outside of the immediate area of their confines.” Ada replies.

“Fair enough. How goes plans on taking out the Paladin properly?" you ask.

“...Oh yes, he’s still alive.” Marina replies.

“You forgot?” you ask with a raised eyebrow.

“In the midst of all this work, can you blame me? The Paladin will require some... off the record handle in this case.” Ada says. “Given that the investigation team will want him and we can’t exactly blow that one up like Sebastien suggested makes a bit more tricky.”

“So what do we do?” you ask.

Marina gives a small sigh. “Your guess is as good as mine. Officially I cannot do anything, as Lord Articus wants the Paladin himself, and to oppose that order is considered treason. Unofficially then yes whatever I want. I’d admit I thought about slitting his throat once or twice myself while he sleeps, but I fail... Well the demon Gorilla’s will be nearby.”
>>
>>24979107
"Now now Ada, I said I wouldn't interfere in your backyard. Don't count me out of politics completely."
>>
>>24979199
Support. I want a full briefing on the local politics. Don't want to step on Ada's toes but we NEED the capability.
>>
>>24979199
Agreed. Brooklyn doesn't want to intrude on Ada's sphere, but she does have an interest in politics. As a scholar she knows how important such things are. And how many times people who try to ignore them get bit. Plus, she has ambitions of her own.
>>
>>24979199
Add, "After all, I need to know which knives are pointed toward my back." Probably shouldn't mention that depending on her level of competency ruling Ft. Hope we might be putting Ada in charge of administering North America.
>>
>>24979199
Agreed. We still need to plan the Coup of Amanda's family for her to secure her loyalty.
>>
>>24979331
We also need to figure out whether her uncle is just a douche control freak or is abusive. We never did follow up on that one.
>>
>>24979331
Wait. Don't we want her innovating and fabricating, not spending all her time running a merchant empire?
>>
>>24979413
Ah, but she wants to be a merchant and giving her what she wants will help make her loyal. Plus, having her control the merchant family increases our powerbase, and helps reassure those who are nervous about relying so completely on Ada for money.
>>
>>24979464
Good point. The fact that she sidesteped answering us about her long term plans and told us to not worry about politics is mildly worrying
>>
>>24979464
Hmm, true, but then she's kind of useless for the T.O. expedition if she's stuck administering at home. If we're going that route we need to find another Miyan ambassador.
>>
>>24979496
Are you suggesting that Ada might try to break some of our friends while we're away? Or sell us to the pride demons to secure her position here? Whoever would those thoughts cross your mind anon?
>>
>>24979566
Actually, I was thinking that she was trying to keep us out of politics or possibly trying to recruit additional spirits to offset the rest of the gang, who like us much better than they like her, in case we later decide to take the town for ourselves.
>>
>>24979566
He said mildly worrying. Don't try to make him out to be some sort of paranoid fool.
>>
[1/2]

"Now now Ada, I said I wouldn't interfere in your backyard. Don't count me out of politics completely. At the very least I’d like to know what sort of knives are pointed at my back.” you ask Ada.

Ada lifts an eyebrow at you. “You really wish to be involved in courtly politics?” she asks you.

“I’d like to at least know my social pecking order. I mean yes on paper is one thing, but social wise is a different kettle of fish correct?” you ask.

“Yes, that is certainly true. You can think of the court magician as a Wildcard in a way. ...Thinking about the bigger picture of just you alone you have quite a few paths open. With Langy dead you are the only person in the entire court who extensively knows about magic. If you’re a person who knows quite a bit about magic, then they’ll treat you better than most of the serving staff but social wise you’ll be seen as part of the serving staff.”

“That’s awfully depressing considering the amount of work I put in.” you say while crossing your arms.

Marina holds up her index finger to you. “But with Langy dead, being the only person in the entire court who can cast even ritual magic will make you quite popular. ‘Officially’ a record of all rituals you know are kept in public log. The more rituals you know the more people will being to... warm up to you persay. Possessing tools that no one else knows within the Langy court would make you extremely sought after. Indeed, just knowing a simple Scrying ritual alone will probably get you many powerful friends. If you happen to know something... say like... A spell that makes an entire field of darkness spikes erupt from the ground to kill an army? People will begin to treat you with the utmost respect, possibly more than me.”
>>
[2/2]

“Unofficially?” you ask.

“Whatever you please. But know that in courtly intrigue, the main aim of the game is power. Information is the main weapon here, and the careful balance is knowing what information to let go and what to keep to yourself. A strictly mercenary approach can work well to avoid making too many enemies, but often if you want power you stick to one clique. Masters of the art can often manipulate both sides for the own gain.” Ada tells you. "And know that being known as a powerful wizard is a double edged sword. While it certainly gives you connections, which are indeed quite valuable in themselves, you also sacrifice a lot of time on your end."
>>
>>24979722
"Good to know. Still, I need to learn this stuff."
>>
>>24979722
>...and what (information) to keep to yourself.
I have no interest whatsoever in involving Brooklyn in politics, but seeing /tg/ start practicing common sense information control might be worth it.
>>
>>24979722
"Good to know, I think I'll be okay, thanks. I probably won't get too involved in politics, but there may be a few things I find it useful for.

If you ever need me to look spooky and mysterious at something or someone just let me know, I can throw enough Arcanobabble at them for them to sit down and accept it.

If you think of any clever ideas on taking out the Pally, preferably without it letting scrying spells lead back to us, please let me know."
>>
>>24979794
supported.
>>
>>24979836
Don't say this. Especially the "won't get too involved in politics part"
>>
>>24979868
Agreed. We're a demon lord Dammit.
>>
>>24979794
Yes we do. Anyway, ask if she wants to go back to the old bad luck plan and then go out to see our students.
>>24979836
no
>>
Also while doing the next part, I didn't get a vote from previously.

Do you want me to do the skills or magic document?
>>
>>24980009
skills
>>
>>24979836
I get that you don't like politics. Fine, I thought that the D&D thing was boring. Let people who want to play politics and rule planets have their fun, then we can go off and do things you think are fun.
>>
>>24980009
I'd say finish the magic document first seeing as you've already started it.
>>
>>24980053

I started the skill document as well.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ktRuseS_GtDdSlU5CrDqYCVcO1l4OJgb_8Bm8C5tB-s/edit

Not a lot, but I was mainly asking which one do you want to see worked on first.
>>
I plan on not getting involved with politics but it helps to know just in case. Especially if i go to old TO apparently the Myrians and the Osakan's are fighting and i doubt that will be easy to fix.
>>
>>24980093
No, we plan on getting involved in politics.
>>
>>24980093
We are planning on ruling a planet. That counts as getting involved in politics
>>
>>24980040
Eh, so long as we invest heavily enough in time magic that we can successfully micromanage everything I'm fine with it. I just hate letting other characters screw up policy implementation and contract negotiations. Also, we need to start heavily investing in mind magic and Suggestion.
>>
>>24980173
Try planets.
>>
>>24980079
>Often regarded as a pinnacle of the field of human achievement. People with skills such as Einstein at physics or Napoleon at strategy are included here. Feats such as clipping a bird’s tail feather in mid flight with a throwing knife (with no magic) can be within this realm of skill. This is often regarded as the cap for human level skills.
Wow. That's some impressive tea.
>>
>>24980198
honestly not sure why suggestion hasn't upped yet. We use it frequently enough.
>>
>>24980173
Oh. I was thinking god-king status. Someone else does the paperwork, everyone bows to us on implicit threat of utter obliteration. But we could to the talk-scheme-assassinate-alliance-betrayal game for a while.
>>
>>24980222
I know. Also we seriously need to into Spirit control at some point. We need to be able to make magically binding contracts if we're going to deal with the other demonic races, angelic entities or established supernatural powers.
>>
>>24980230
Fobbing off all the paperwork is a good way to get overthown. I'm not saying that this should turn into a civ game or something, but the people who insist that Brooklyn has no more ambition than to practice magic and brew tea annoy me.
>>
>>24980230
We aren't nearly powerful enough to do that yet.
>>
>>24980331
Especially since OP apparently introduced a succubi duke into the setting
>>
>>24980331
We're not nearly powerful enough to take over the world in any other way yet either.
>>
[1/2]

“Good to know. Still I think it’s best to learn this kind of stuff if I ever want to rise up politics in the world. Man is the political animal and all that, seems to be the same for demons too.” you reply.

“Hm... Well to be honest the best way to do this sort of thing is to actually experience it. That’s how my mother taught me, by letting me play politics with Succubi gangs of Old TO.” Marina replies.

“Holy crap. YOU used to be in a gang of all things?!” you ask in a surprised voice.

“Yes yes... Street Urchins 4 lyfe and all that...” Marina sighs as she makes a gang sign with her hand. “Mother encouraged me to do it since it was a Laminian street gang kept in control by Arum. ...Which is really more of an information brokerage if anything else. Point being is that if you’re looking for politics then the only difference between a gang and a court is that one side is actually up front about whenever they hate you and want you out of the picture. It was an... interesting experience and one I do not regret doing. I miss my old companions from time to time but still I had to move on.”

Wow... You never really pinged Ada as that type before. “So experience by doing?”
>>
[2/2]

“That is correct. Just feel free to attend some sort of local gala or ball and go from there. You will screw up eventually, but don’t take it personally. Janine could also give you some pointers as well, considering that she was regarded as one of the premier, if not the premier socialite amongst our friends.” Marina says.

“You certainly know a lot about them.” you reply.

“I read up a lot about her, and needless to say when I met her I was not disappointed. She is often considered as the role model for politically minded Succubi everywhere. ...Unlike other people...” Marine mutters under her breath about Lamia. “Anyways, the closest formal gala we have is the one in honor of the Pride Demon arrival and my official coronation ceremony this Wednesday.”

“Woah woah... Isn’t that dangerous? I mean mixing with the nobility is one thing, but with a Pride Demon investigation team?” you ask.

“One’s who specifically have no interest in us and probably want out of our settlement as fast as humanly possible. It won’t be like Blizzarios where he’d be searching. If anything they’d probably keep to themselves.” Ada says.
>>
>>24980355
It the known Succubi duke that holds the problem. She is presumably MUCH more powerful than the local pride demon lord, so it seems exceedingly unlikely that we will be able to put the quest in a holding pattern long enough to surpass her. Which means that we need to either get rid of her or acquire enough power that she has to listen to us for some reason.
>>
>>24980351

well we have no idea if they are in fact a duke also keep in mind they may be a broken spy. As that would be an excellent form of control for pride demons to keep the succubi in line unofficially.
>>
>>24980387
"I'll be there. Tell me if you need my help offing the paladin. We can always try the bad luck charm thing if you can't come up with anything else.
>>
>>24980294
If by practice magic you mean overthrow the ruling planetary powers and take the fight to the pride demons on other worlds, then we're talking about the same things. I just want to stay away from the civilian chain of command because organizing supplies and shelter for the millions of refugees that will be created as collateral of our war is, frankly, depressing (and it should be). And time consuming (which it also should be) which is less interesting to me.

The tea thing is a character trait/flaw at this point. I think of as a benign obsession that's helping Brooklyn distract herself from suddenly being a woman (or having a woman's body if you really want to split hairs).
>>
>>24980456
seconded.

>>24980479
I want to be in the civilian chain of command because otherwise we will be taking orders from somebody else in that chain.
>>
>>24980387
"Well, it will give me an excuse to put on fancy clothing and I may as well make an appearance, I'll be there.

If you need any help with anything just let me know.

Now I think I'll return to my busy and arduous routine of drinking exquisite tea and reading banned books."

Make sure to talk about the busy and arduous routine in a sarcastic tone of voice.

After we're done with Marina I think we should return to our room, talk to our maid about her working as a research assistant and giving her some books to read, and then getting to the rest of our day, see what's on the itinerary, like Succubutting the Twins later.
>>
>>24980479
I want to rule a planet. If you are bored by it you can tune it out.
>>
>>24980534
We need to visit our students.
>>
>>24980565
We can do that after tossing the maid a pile of books to look through. And we should check in on the Doctor and on Mina.

Oh yeah, before we leave Ada we should make sure she'll give the doctor the permits he needs for potion making.
>>
>>24980387
...Once the Guards give their testimony, won't the Pride Demon at least be looking for Erika since she used her powers during the ritual kerfuffle? That might complicate returning her to court after she finishes her training! You know?

We can wait until the investigators leave to reinstate her.

Just as a reminder we need to investigate the prospector who gave us the tip where the demon shrine was.

then it turns out it was someone acting on a fragment on information passed down to them though a chain of people ending at the Succubus who was meant to free the queens...
>>
>>24980606
I am asking whether "Erika Langy" will end up on a list for questioning by the pride demons. It might not be a bad idea to bring her back under a different identity. If we're seriously going the politicontrol route, start thinking about what kind of information we don't control (someone went to great lengths to save Erika from that ritual. Lord Langy was killed by an unknown power shortly afterwards) and what information we can control (Erika is in Fort Hope). Why in any gods' name would we want to advertise her return to the world?
>>
Rolled 18, 39, 98, 98 = 253

>>24980694
Ada seems to think it won't be a problem. That said, we should start building up our own political faction, centered around our loyal students.
>>
>>24980694
We should mostly be focused on slowly squeezing out the loyalists.
>>
>>24980720
Ada is new at this and under a lot more stress than she expected. She's relishing it, but expect her to take a few more days to consolidate her power and start getting more sleep before we can trust her judgement. She forgot about the paladin, she probably also forgot that Blizzies Bodyguards were in the room when we extracted Erika, so they know a bit more about Erika than is really safe for her to wander openly about right now.
>>
>>24980652
Still worth investigating
>>
>>24980769
So, use Erika as bait? Hmm, could work. Too bad we can't have someone psychically screen potential hostiles for us...
>>
This update is surprising me somewhat, but trust me it'd be worth it.

I have faith. If you've got something good, take whatever time you need. No pressure though.

"Well, it will give me an excuse to put on fancy clothing and I may as well make an appearance, I'll be there. Now in the meantime I think I'll return to my busy and arduous routine of drinking exquisite tea and reading banned books.” you tell Ada with a slightly scarastic tone on the last bit.

“But of course. I have my own materials I need to cover in the meantime as well.” Ada says as cracks her fingers.

“If you need any help with anything just let me know Lady Marina.” you say doing a small curtsy.

“Not an issue my dear. Please take care.” Marina says as she grabs her quill once again.

On the way back up to your room, you begin to wonder about what kind of things you’d possibly like to study now that you’ve got free time...

IN THIS POST, SANDACT INTRODUCES A BRAND NEW SUBSYSTEM! THE DEVELOPMENT POINT SYSTEM!

Development points (or DP for short) is a sort of test system I thought up on the spot today with absolutely no long term foresight but in the short term hoping it works out well enough for the long term!

DP is gained by the experiences and trails of life. You can get it from just as easily from combat to courtly intrigue to figuring out P = NP. Using DP, one can raise their values up on their character sheets! So I just pass out numbers and you guys can vote how to spend them, rather than me typing up a long long list every time advancement comes around! It may be slow now, but once everyone starts doing more stuff the amount of DP will really kick up! But remember, learning things takes time!

>More complicated garbage? Ugh... Fine how do we use them...

Using DP is simple! You’re given a set amount and all you need to do is spend it! It’s as simple as that! The cost for things in DP is as follows:

- Skills: 25 + (5 x new Skill level) (Skill level being 1 = basic, 2 = average, 3 = Good! and so on. So if your skill level at something is average and you wish to increase it to Good!, then the cost is 25 + (5 x 3) = 40 points!)

- Abilities: Abilities often cost certain amounts of DP related to their power. I’d probably make a full list now, but for simplicity sake I’ll just give a mini list here for Brooklyn and possible abilities he can learn:

- Potential: As HP decreases, Defense/Dodge/Parry/Critical rate up. 20 DP at first level, +5 DP for each level after the first. Max 10.

- Aether Burn. Brooklyn has the option of increasing the Aether cost of a magic ability by up to 50% to increase the power by up to 50%. This doesn’t apply to only attacks, but can also make things like social attacks harder to resist for example. 120 DP

- EN Save. All magic now costs 20% less to use. Attacks that require Aether use: All are unaffected by this. 200 DP
>>
[3/3]

- [Elemental] Speciality. Increased effectiveness with particular School of Magic [Tentacles become stronger, light beams are more deadly, etc...]. 250 DP

- Predict. After a certain amount of time in battle [Or sufficient emotion], Brooklyn’s hit/evade increases). 150 DP

- Continuous Action: After a certain amount of time in battle, any attack that falls an opponent will grant the user another full action. Usable once per turn 380 DP

- Support Attack: Allows Brooklyn to provide offensive support to an ally next to him. Each rank in this allows on additional support per turn. 100 DP for first level, +20 for each additional level after.

- Cooperative Attack: When doing Support attack, the damage inflicted by it is 100% normal damage rather than 80%. 250 DP.

Magic stuff: Controls are simple enough to learn in theory! I... planned to have some sort of formula ready, so I’ll throw out one that seems like it works.

- Controls: 200 + (Current level x 75) DP. So increasing Light control from Great! to Awesome! will take 200 + (4 x 75) = 500 DP! The Okarian bonus reduces this requirement by 20%, so the total for Okarians would be 400 DP!

- Rituals: This varies completely on the ritual, but is a hell of a lot cheaper than the above.

- Stuff like Aura Sight/Suggestion/Cloaking: 150 + (current level x 75). I haven’t figured out a name for these sorts of magics yet...

Currently, Brooklyn has 282 DP. A lot of this gained from Langy and training.

Also vote on what to do next! PLEASE!

Sure, if nothing shows up on aura sight lets just head to the bar and see if he's drinking with Brodin.

That's a good idea.

Keep ideas like these coming!
>>

Right now I think we should grab Aether Burn, being able to pump out more damage quickly would be good.

As for what to do next, take our maid, quiz her on what she already knows, and give her books on the basics and to fill in holes in her education. Once we get her started it won't take much time out of our schedule for her to read when she can, we just need to get it started.

Then turn on Aura Sight, see if Brodin's Boss shows up, if not we can visit Brodin, ask if we can have some tea with the boss.

Also, we need to pick up a personal tea set, one to our exacting specifications.

I want to learn flying with Mina (Which would cost us 30 DP?) as well but Brodin's boss probably comes first.

>Support Attack
I've been meaning to ask, since Brook is a ranged combatant for the most part, does that mean that we can only support other ranged fighters (if any others are clumped with us, not necessarily wise) or does the bonus apply to distant melee fighters we're actively supporting? Sorry if I'm being too literal here, but I'd rather not find unexpected restricting in the middle of combat.

Light would be 425 which is loads. Space to basic would take 275 so we could afford that but then we wouldn't be able to afford anything else like Flying or Willpower or Dodge which we kind of need.

>>24981634
doge is to not get hit, we need that. Axe is to fight whenever we need to pretend to be a mortal and to increase the ability of our light guys, which currently such because they use our melee skill.

Less than that, we get a 20% discount so it'd be 220 and 340.

We should probably figure out if there's an etiquette involved in meeting Brodin's boss so let's chat with him first. Then let's let Mina know we'll be transforming the twins soon. I'm disappointed that we never found a way to delay their departure, since we have so much to teach them...
>>
>>24981709
best way to do that is to get them a job here or something. For that we need Amanda.
>>
>>24981694
They'll be useless in melee even if we level up axe because they die in a single fucking hit. Just level up light control until we can give them some form of ranged attack like a laser or maybe even make them cast stuff.

>>
>>24981694
>Axe is to fight whenever we need to pretend to be a mortal
We're a registered wizard now, we can get a big book and write "Spells" on the cover and then cast whatever we like while pretending to use it.
>>
>>24981779
We can convince him to let them stay for a while and to spend some more time in Fort Hope for a bit longer, and we'll use our position as Head Magician and ask him to pick some stuff up for us in exchange for Langy money to make it not hurt his business. BAM! Solved.
>>
>>24981694
Oh, on that note. I was thinking, can we give our soloigrams shadows? Since they're made of light I assume they don't have them "naturally". And if we can give them shadows, can those shadow attack opponents independently of the soligram itself? Spear like tentacles stab up from the shadow to pierce attacking soldiers, that kind of thing?

Just a thought.
>>
>>24981810
This. It also explains why we sucked with the axe while we we're mortal. We we're a ritualistic masquerading as an axe wielding adventurer.
>>
>>24981808
Oh, remember we wanted to use him to import alchemical reagents for Doc's potions lab and our own laboratory (once we set it up).
>>
>>24981814
Except he doesn't know us in our Brooklyn form, which is the form we are in for the job.

Another thing I want to figure out, is how do we explain our position as head mage to Brooklyn's gaming buddies?
>>
>>24981972
No, it'll be Miranda Suggesting for him to stay, but Brooklyn will have heard of him somehow and will ask him to pick some stuff up for her, and will maybe reinforce him staying a bit longer by asking for time to fully catalog the things we'll need.
>>
>>24981972
>explain...buddies?
Which is why I wanted to let Brook "die" in her home, but that was not meant to be. If they don't just roll with it we use Suggestion to make sure they don't start anything politically problematic for us.
>>
>>24981972
>how do we explain our position as head mage to Brooklyn's gaming buddies?
Given Langy's policy on magic users who weren't him, name somebody more qualified than us. There isn't anybody. Roger knows we've been reading up on magic recently so we at least know the theory bit which is better than almost every other candidate. We can pick up the casting quickly enough with access to the Langy library.
>>
>>24981972
He's the only merchant (aside from Amanda's family) in town that has the connections necessary to get the reagents we need. Play it off as Brook throwing a Hail Mary and being pleasantly surprised (and quite relieved) when it turns out that he has access to the supplies we need. Nothing flirtatious in front of his daughters, but try to establish the ground work for a working relationship with him, then Suggest that the twins stay to help take orders from the community and work out the necessary contracts for all the reconstruction goods we'll be buying from him. And hire some mercenaries to make sure he gets home and back safely.

(I’ll let the DP spend voting continue a bit longer, so feel free to discuss it amongst yourselves.)

One of the first things you want to do is meet with Brodin’s boss. Unfortunately you have no idea where is right now and neither does Ada.

“Hm... Let’s see if Brodin knows where he could be.” you say as you prepare to head out and meet Brodin.

******

You head on over to the Adamant Bar just before the lunch rush. You can see a small army of barmaids busy cleaning off the tables and floors along with a few early eaters in the area. Otherwise this is one of the rare times that this place is fairly quiet.

“Excuse me, Sir Ironfist. Is Brodin the Reaper here?” you ask the Dwarf behind the counter who is the owner of the place.

“...And what would a young lass like you want with a Reaper?” Ironfist asks skeptically while cleaning a mug.

“Because he slept on my floor whenever he wasn’t here. Also remember that I was with him that night Mina punched him up into the rafters.” you tell the dwarf.

Ironfist stops to think for a few moments before he lights up before he gives off a chuckle. “Aye! So you where! What a lively night that was! I thought I’d seen the end of those in my adventurer days, but lo’ and behold to my surprise something like that happens!”

“...You’re not upset that we damaged your roof and tables?” you ask him.
>>
[2/2]

“Nay! Only a morning’s work that was! Tables were getting old again anyways!” Ironfist laughs once again as he puts down his mug. “Let me take you up to him lassie!”

“Thanks.” you reply to the dwarf as he leads you upstairs up to one of the rooms on the other end of the Adamant Door. This place is larger than you thought.

“‘EY! BRODIN! SOME YOUNG LASS IS ‘ERE TO SEE YA.” Ironfist says as he pounds on the door.

“Let her in!” Brodin calls out.

You enter the room to see that while it is rather cramped, it seems to have all the basic needs in it. A bed, dresser, mirror, even a running faucet. Brodin himself is laying on the bed, stretched out under the covers as he appears to have a big smile on his face as he reaches for a mug of beer nearby.

“Isn’t it a bit early for that?” you ask him.

“Five o’clock was 18 hours ago!” Brodin says happily as he downs mug of beer.

Except they. are. our. friends. Brooklyn is not a malicious asshole, no matter how much you want to play her as one.

Which means we need to invest some time (GP?) in learning legitimate, secret identity power level appropriate rituals to wow the nobles with. Do not let out that we know the fate ritual if you don't want potential assassination attempts against us by the noble factions that don't have access to our abilities.
>>
>>24982095
"So it's still drinking instead of starting early, I suppose I can respect that.

>>
>>24982246
Okay, politics, willpower and dodge to Good! comes to 120, add in sexual arts brings it to 160. Flight costs an additional 30, and seduction and Axe to average costs 35 each. total is 260. But presumably we will be getting more DP once we start accomplishing long term player goals like turning people into succubi.

We'll see. Since it seems I'm the lone voice on this I'll retract the proposal. Preemptive strikes on allies are a No. Got it. Let me remind you that the latter might make good hostages if someone wants leverage on us.
>>
>>24982614
Maybe...

But seriously, we hone our political skills at fort hope before moving on to regional, continental, world, and galactic domination (unless the rabbit hole goes further). Obviously we let someone else deal with the backwater after we've outgrown it. We haven't done that yet and probably won't for awhile.
>>
>>24982699
But Ft. Hope already has a competent leader that we went to all the trouble of putting in charge. Why would you scheme to take control of it so that we can practice so that we can give it to somebody just like her again? Just take over another town that isn't already ruled by somebody sort of loyal to us. We are kind of going to need a lot of towns to take over the region.

You have no idea why, but each one of those loud, heavy steps on wood sounds as if your soul is being rattled as your inner lizard brain screams at you, “Run! Run while you still can!”

“Oh there is he now.” Brodin replies as he puts down his drink.

An eerie mist begins to fill the room at your feet, sending chills directly from your feet up all along your spine. Your body slowly begins to shake as the door slowly begins to creak open loudly. Your body frozen in place like a deer caught in the headlights, staring at his impending doom. All of the light in the room dies immediately as a cold wind wafts through the air.

As the door fully opens, you see not man, not a demon, not an angel, but the very incarnation of death itself. This Reaper isn’t like Brodin at all. You can only stare back as his imposing seven foot tall figure looms over your own, not at all lithe like Brodin but rather incredibly beefy in his own right. A scythe in his other hand as nearly as large as he is, your own horrified face being reflected alongside the dozens of other screaming and wailing spirits. The dull moan of captured spirits echos alongside in a lamp in his other hand. The covered face under his hood simply seems to stare at you. The empty abyss inside of it simply staring directly through your body like a laser through butter. Your very soul shakes as the very incarnation of all that were we taught to fear not in your lifetime, but your generations of ancestors before you.

“Hey boss.” Brodin causally replies.

“Brodin...” The imposing Reaper speaks, his voice soft but echoing throughout your soul. Seeming to ignore you for a moment. “Please explain to me why there was a family of small apparitions on 4 Checklow Ave...”

“They were not harming anyone. The poltergeist at 9 Wicklow St. was actually a far bigger threat.” Brodin replies.

“There were dead rats in the yard.” The boss replies.

“I stand by my statement.” Brodin replies.

“I’ve been here for four hours so far and yet I’ve done more work than you have in two weeks.” The Reaper replies.

“Now now, there Hamelock! I killed a lot zombies there and stopped one of the Necromancers there. Shouldn’t that deserve some credit at least?” Brodin asks.

The large Reaper gives low guttural growl. “It paid off, but it was fairly big hunch...”

“Hey worse case the town probably had seen a Reaper for years.” Brodin casually replies. “Oh yes, this is Brooklyn. The Demon Lord I told you about.”

You are going to yell at Brodin, only to remember that everyone in the Adamant Door ran away screaming for their own lives. The massive Reaper looks down at you, the shrouded face ripping through your body like a superheated ray of light.

“Hey... That was mine...” Brodin pouts.

After finishing the ale completely, you wipe your mouth clean. Your inhibitions now somewhat dulled by the alcohol. You do a small curtsy in front of the Reaper. “Brooklyn Browning! It is very nice to meet you good sir!”

Start making some tea, with our Water Control and what we have in our pockets we ought to be able to make a few mugs even without much in the way of equipment. Just need some water, tea leaves, and cups. I figure we always have the basics, we don't even need a tea pot with water control.

Because this guy could use a cup of tea.

"It's complicated, but I suppose you could find out easily enough and you're about as impartial as it gets. I work for the Queens, though I have quite a bit of leeway.

Since you're already here and an expert in such matters would you mind if I asked you some questions about the nature of the afterlife and other related topics? I doubt that I will find a better source on such things any time soon."

“Hey, I’m confident enough to admit that I do not know everything.” Brodin replies.

Pride demon. Also less motivated than us.
>>
>>24983639
on the journey to what?
>>
>>24983643
This. He had a completely unrelated skill set. Mina and Ada might be slightly better comparisons, though again we need a young Okarina for a direct comparison.
>>
>>24983639
"Thank you very much, and I would appreciate it if you didn't tell anyone of their survival.

Would you mind if I asked your name?"

Start asking him about the underworld, the journey from life to death, where souls go, the nature of the soul and its connection to Aether. Be very polite, pay close attention to everything he says, don't try to pry or push him on a subject he doesn't want to talk about.

Also ask him if he liked the tea or has any suggestions for improvements.
>>
>>24983639
Remember to shapeshift to a one off form before following him around town, we don't want to scare the nobles too much. Also, pray (to the queens) that he won't reveal that the queens have a direct agent living on this world. The Duke seemed a bit obsessive in that flashback.
>>
>>24983736
Ask how he'd like to be addressed, not for his name. If true names can be used to exert power/influence over someone in this setting I think he'd be insulted by a Mage asking for his.
>>
>>24983771
That is a very good point.
>>
>>24983467
how does the question of lord status even happen when the quest is called succubus lord quest
>>
>>24983849
Because we're also the leader (more or less) of a pack (flock? What's the term guys?) of succubi and enlightened mortals, I assume.
>>
>>24983743
He's a king actually. Although it would really be more accurate to call him an emperor.
>>
>>24983643
>He'd still break us in half over his knee in a duel.
I don't think that's likely, we're at least a match for him in power so as long as it didn't become an endurance match we'd have a good shot at winning

Cabal
>>

We're better at Magic than he was, same rank as he was in Darkness Control as he was in Water, but Magic-Fight would put us over him in raw magic.

However he has us so totally beat in melee fighting, health, durability, speed, social magic, and probably a pile of other stuff.
>>
>>24983907
Emperor is the title reserved for the strongest demon though, right? Pretty sure that the king of despair still holds that, even if he's locked away at the moment.

...like how the queens are still the Queens.
>>
>>24983919
Well, at least it isn't coven.
>>
>>24983972

Strongest Demon of a current sin section of Demons.

So you can have an Emperor of the Pride Demons, one of the Envy demons, etc...
>>
>>24983972
No, strongest demon of a type. The current holder of the title of emperor of the pride demons has been a vegetable for a long time. Also, the KING OF DESPAIR is not a demon.
>>
>>24983972
The strongest of that type. Pamille is the Empress of the Succubi for instance.
And I don't think the King of Despair is even a demon.
>>
Hmm, just had a thought. Do you think Brodin was serious when he told our Pally friend that his boss would kill him on the spot for spouting misinformation about soul mechanics, the nature of the afterlife and all those stereotypes about Reapers? We still need a politically safe way of offing the paladin. See where I'm going with this?
>>
>>24984025
My apologies. Apparently I am in need of caffeine.
>>
>>24984146
How do we get him down there though? We might get him to kill the pally but if he finds no evil spirits there he'll probably kill us for dragging him to a dungeon and wasting his time (and using him if he figures that bit out).
>>
>>24984211
We could just mention all the rhetoric the paladin has been spouting.
>>
>>24984234
I don't think that will do anything but I guess there's no harm in trying. Should be easy to slip in to the upcoming conversation about the afterlife.
>>
>>24984234
This was more or less my plan. Phrase it more as, how do I responsibly and effectively educate faith-blinded fools as to how reality works. Then use the Paladin's personal and racial attacks on us to lead into everything he said about souls and reapers.
>>
>>24984211
Its all about how we sell it. Besides, we need social manipulation practice. Just let the paladin's location drop in conversation and mention that when we found him he was working (unknowingly) for a necromancer. Collecting living bodies to zombify.

“Absolutely, I do not mind a single bit.” you say shapeshifting into a green haired girl who is slightly shorter than your original height.

“...The Ferryman will do...” The Reaper replies as he sips his tea once more.

“I see you still like drama.” Brodin replies as he finishes his tea. “Thanks for the tea Brook.”

“I would appreciate it if you didn't tell anyone of the Queen’s survival.” you tell the Ferryman.

“The status of the current Queen’s is of no consequence to me.” Ferryman replies as he finishes his tea. “Come... We have work to do... Brodin... Heal up as quick as you can, the dead do not wait...”

“Oh yea... Rrrriiiigggghhhhtttt on that...” Brodin says as he leans back in his bed with a smile on his face.

“So... Can you start with telling me about the Underworld?” you ask Ferryman.

“That is akin to one describing the universe itself.” The ferryman drily replies as his bootprints echo throughout the hallway.

“That big?” you ask.

“The Underworld is a term for the undead energy of the dimensions. Life and death are but two sides of the same coin. The Underworld grows every time the living world grows, but unlike the living world it does not shrink. Even if the universe would collapse, the Underworld will endure. It has for countless aeons and it will continue to exist even long after you or I.” Ferryman says as you head down into the Adamant Door dining area. All of the talking and laughter stop dead as they witness the giant Reaper walking through the dining area with you.
>>
[2/4]

“...I’m not hungry anymore...” a Crimson Bear says putting down his turkey leg.

“What does the journey from life to death involve?” you ask.

The gives a heavy exhale of breath as you both leave the Adamant Door, breath clearly begin shown from underneath his hood. “Ideally it involves the soul of the recently departed to enter the cycle of reincarnation once more. But sometimes this doesn’t happen. Sometimes we have souls who are unable to pass into the next life for one reason or another. These... Lost Souls are escorted, by us, into the Underworld. It is there they wait out their days and ponder their existence, trying to find out the reason for why their souls have not passed on. It is a process that is unique to every individual.”

“What about Celestia’s heavens or the various sorts of Hell’s I heard about in mythology?” you ask as everyone on the street has their eyes glued to the massive man.

“No more different that various laws of the land. We do have an agreement with Celestia that while souls who perform certain tasks go into their heavens, the heavens typically function with the same task as the Underworld itself. It is a subject of... debate that whenever these heavens should exist. Too many souls are up there with not enough passing on into the next lives in some belief systems. Needless to say they do not like us up there but are forced to accept us.” The Ferryman says as he walks into the Wolf Pack barracks section. The posted guards simply pretend to ignore the Ferryman’s presence, cold sweat on their faces as they let both you and him by without doing a thing to stop you.
>>
[3/4]

“Can you tell me about the nature of the soul and i-”

“One moment.” The Ferryman says interrupting you. Once he reaches the doors of the barracks, he pushes them every so slowly open. Exposing what appears to be a large batch of men who are now staring at the Reaper in a manner of which you were probably staring at him originally.

The Ferryman calmly begins to walk into the barracks. His heavy footprints and scythe being the only sounds in the room. As you look on, a few of the battle hardened men actually faint as the Reaper goes by them.

“No.... No! NO!” You hear a voice scream out near the back. Seeing a Hawk member run out from around his bed and begins to bolt as fast as he can towards the window on the other side.

Still, the Ferryman remains his speed of a slow and brisk walking pace as he heads towards the man on the other side of the room, most likely his target for the day.

“NO! NO! OH PLEASE ARTICUS NO!” the man begins to scream in primal fear as he begins to try and open the frozen windowsill to no avail. The begins to claw at the window with all of his might, fingernails literally breaking off as his hands bleed as he tries to escape in futility.

The Ferryman continues his brisk pace, slowly lifting his hand up to point a finger at the man. “Travis Lockheed... Your time has passed...”

“N-n-n-nn-nn-o! NO!”

“...And I have come to guide your soul into the afterlife...” The Ferryman says as his finger turns into an outstretched hand.
>>
[4/4]

“NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” the man screams as tears begin to roll down his eyes.

You avert your gaze, unable to watch this anymore. The sounds of an extremely one sided struggle can be heard taking place, before finally a small thump to the floor can be heard.

"Rest... In peace..." Ferryman's voice says.

You slowly look your eyes back up to see in the bunker again. The men inside of it are now staring at both the Ferryman and their comrades corpse on the floor nearby.

“...As you were saying?” the Ferryman asks as he walks out of the barracks as if nothing just happened.

This is an old and reoccurring problem after all...

I don't really see why people are always so scared of the concept of death, it's something I'd rather avoid, but the time after you die seems little different from the time before you were born. Maybe it's the because they have things left unfinished.

But yes, back to what I was saying. Would you mind telling me more of the nature of the soul and its connection to Aether? Some stupid Illysian Paladin was going on about how they were one and the same and I would like to actually know how they work and are connected."

"You're rather efficient aren't you? I suppose you must be considering how much you have to do. I wonder if people would come easier with a more gentle approach, probably not, they'd be scared and run or fight either way.” you tell him.

“There is a reason why we Reaper’s maintain the soft suggestion of not telling people their times of death until they arrive.” The Ferryman says as he continues to walk along with you out of the barracks. “The panic people have of their deaths makes it all the more troublesome.”

“I don't really see why people are always so scared of the concept of death, it's something I'd rather avoid, but the time after you die seems little different from the time before you were born. Maybe it's the because they have things left unfinished.” you reply.

“Nearly everyone is afraid of death. The end of the mortal coil. There are some who may welcome it on their deathbeds, but the vast majority it is not the case. Most often it is the case with the ones who lack a mortal lifespan. The ones who spent ages collecting power, only to see the souls severed and cut from their body.” The Ferryman says.

“So Death has an effect on the souls of enlightened beings?” you ask.
>>
[2/2]

“Yes... The process of spellcasting can be debated, but for creatures who live on the plane of the living it involves the connection of the spirit to the body. When the body dies, a very large portion of the users previous power is caught in the gap between life and death. I believe a mortal scholar in your world known as Solomon was quite accurate in his descriptions and metaphysics of the gate, but when one’s soul is ripped from their body, they pass through the gate between life and death. During that process, a vast majority of their power vanishes, making the ghost become a shadow of what he once was. In addition, it is... difficult for ghosts to learn new things. Their potential for certain kinds of magic are... stunted in a way.” Ferryman replies as he continues his trek through town with you.

“So what is the soul’s relation to Aether?” you ask.

“That... is a mystery. We know that it is related in some aspect. My belief is that the personality oneself is imprinted on one’s aether, then when the subject dies the personality self that was stamped out is set free.” Ferryman replies.

“Ah. Some stupid Illysian Paladin was going on about how they are one in the same and I was confused.” you reply.

“The vulgar often make such mistakes yes...” Ferryman replies as you begin to enter the residential district. People begin taking their kids indoors and lock the doors as the Ferryman enters.

Eh, I prefer the students because I want to see how they've settled down. Also need to begin having a serious conversation with Amanda

Could you tell me what happened to my body? Where it went? What is being done to and with it? Why they took it?"
>>

She probably did, but we should still ask about it. Just in case she didn't or if we'll get a more scholarly than political answer.

he wouldn't know. He might know some of the things it could be used for though.
>>
>>24984966
I know I'm going to regret asking this, but which conversation are you proposing?

>>
>>24984866
Ask him about draining people to death. Do we actually eat their souls? Or do they get to go the the afterlife?

>Stuff about Enlightened dying
So we died. And our soul came out of our body. But it was caught by the Queens and turned into a succubus. But we can die again? Is our old body important?
>>
>>24984997
The one where we spell out what we expect in return for us turning her into a succubus and helping her gain control of her family business?
>>
>>24984971
Right, that's why I wanted spatial control, to block the sympathetic connection we have with our body. Seriously though, don't mention that we should be dead.
>>
>>24985032
Why not? They know. Brodin came to the town in the first place in order to check out why we weren't in the afterlife at our appointed time. He's filled out all the forms and shit. It's cool.
>>
>>24985024
...and you expect her to adhere to non-binding promises made in the pursuit of power? Hell, she doesn't even need to beat our aura sight, she just has to change her mind later. I really don't see how this is useful.
>>
>>24985032
He already fucking knows or doesn't care. People with Aether often break mortal lifespans, it's traditional.

Seriously, Brodin mentioned that it was old hat for newbie Reapers to get hazed by being sent after Enlightened folks and Demons and them fighting, if they die they die, if they live they get another X years.

I doubt that he could muster up a single fuck to give about us breaking our mortal life.

And Brodin did all the paperwork for us living. We're in the clear.
>>
>>24985065
because she is infatuated with us and has repeatedly offered "anything" with no hint of deception whatsoever?
>>
>>24985024

>>
>>24985065
Well, its much sillier to expect her to adhere to such promises if she doesn't make them. Plus, I think its about time we collected an outright subordinate.
>>
We already had a talk with Amanda. The girl almost worships us. Amanda is not a problem. Why does there seem to be a significant number of players here expecting everyone to stab us in the back. We don't need to have the NPCs sign contracts detailing their relationships to us.
>>
>>24985062
You ever notice a fly on the wall, minding its own business and decided that it wasn't worth the effort of getting up to swat it? When that fly lifts off the wall and starts buzzing near your head, do you feel like the effort of removing it from your vicinity is more worth the effort?
>>
>>24985148
I don't think she will betray us. Why are there people who think that asking her to agree to something much less than initially offered makes us an asshole?
>>
>>24985087
Infatuation fades with time. And potentially with the knowledge of our relationship with Mina and dalliance with the Twins. You want her to sign up for team Brooklyn, make sure we lay out all the facts.
>>
>>24985152
Not really. All the spiderbros in my room will get it eventually.
>>
>>24985189

>>24985203

>>
>>24985189
Because one is a romantic and abstract notion offered by a girl in the midst of hero-worshiping us, and the other is a clinical evaluation of her worth as an asset in our long term strategy. People tend not to like being thought of as tools.
>>
>>24985229
I see. There is a spider on the wall near your head. There is a spider crawling on your face. Is one of these things more likely to annoy you and cause a physical response than the other?
>>
>>24985254

Sorry for the delay, discussing some b-day plans with my friends.

>>24985148

>>
>>24985292
We're already crawling or buzzing or whatever on his face. We've been hanging around asking him stupid questions (from his point of view) for a while and he doesn't seem to mind. We were introduced as "that demon lord I told you about", he knows we're the one who was meant to be dead and had all that paperwork sent back from Brodin about us.
>>
>>24985254
Oh, be quiet friend-fag. We will never collect adoring minions in such a fashion.
>>
>>24985189
Because they are no fun allowed annoyances.
>>
>>24985331
What if, and bear with me here, what if after we turn her she decided to cut the strings? How should we react? I want an answer to that before we put any strings in place since I dont trust /tg/ not to just let it slide.
>>
>>24985365
If she betrays us? Then we deal with her. Literally every piece of advice we've ever been given about her is that she needs to know who is in charge. And do you know what? I want people who know that we are in charge.
>>
>>24985397
Fucking this.
>>
>>24985344
Assuming we boost our sexual arts stat and find a fun, safe and agreeable way to introduce her to fun times with Mina, I don't see her slipping away from our minion collection. That said, she strikes me as the type that doesn't like to be overtly controlled.
>>
>>24985365
I don't want particularity odius strings. I just want an agreement to provide us with minor amounts of money, far less than what she will gain by agreeing to this, and an understanding that she is our subordinate.
>>
>>24985417
Then who do you want to openly consider themselves our minion?
>>
>>24985397
>Literally every piece of advice we've ever been given about her is that she needs to know who is in charge.
This is true. I think people are forgetting what an ambitious bitch she was (and probably still is when she's talking to people who she don't know are powerful demons).
>>
>>24985397
Not betray, just if she decides to stop working with us. What if she decides that, for example, running and maintaining the Richards' family business empire is more important than whatever task we have assigned her?

Again, I'm not asking about what happens if she starts working against us, I'm asking what happens if she stops working with us.

>>
>>24985457
Right now, our maid. Once we actually start breaking into descent power levels, then Mina and Amanda. When we start accumulating territory and need an administrator Ada, though admittedly we should have her working under us a little before we start. I want it to be an organic thing, we lead well so they follow. We plan, organize, plot and scheme them into listening to us and growing so used to following our commands that the question of our leadership is settled before its ever actually raised. I didn't mention Erika because, while she isn't minion tier, she's already following our lead without question. Sorry that I suck at explaining this, but hopefully you can kind of understand what I'm trying to get across.

Someone demands your respect and servitude, they're an asshole. Maybe a scary asshole, but an asshole nonetheless. Show up, earn peoples respect, teach them, listen to them and make them fucking love you like a good parent, and then make sure they know what you expect from them? Happy minions (minions who's self worth is tied to your approval) will pull your ass from the fire even if they burn doing it. Oppressed minions? Not so much.
>>

“Oh yes. When I originally... you know what, I left behind my body, but it was then taken away by someone. Could you tell me what happened to my body? Where it went? What is being done to and with it? Why they took it?" you ask.

Ferryman grunts at the questions you spew out. “Too many unknown variables. The only thing I can say for certain is that whomever took it must’ve either wanted your corpse personally or that they wished to perform some necromancy on it. ...By any chance did you anger or were hiding from someone extremely powerful while you were a mortal?”

“Not to my knowledge no.” you reply.

“...Then we’re back to the beginning again.” the Ferryman replies.

You give a small sigh at this answer. “Thank you very much for the information anyways Mr. Ferryman, you’ve been most helpful and enlightening with your information.”

“It has been my... pleasure.” the Ferryman says as you begin to walk away. “I’ll be seeing... you again soon...”

You feel a small shiver go down your spine as you quickly begin to walk away faster from the Ferryman.

On the way to the bathhouse, you find a small alleyway nearby to transform into Sara before heading over to the Richardson bath house. It has a small crowd in the lobby area, but thankfully you don’t need to wait long in line to see Amanda.

“Oh! Lady Sara! What can I do for you today?” Amanda says as she appears to be almost glowing. “Here for a bath perhaps?”
>>
[2/4]

“Uh... N-no not today. I was wondering if perhaps Lady Leona and her ‘friend’ were here at the moment as well? I was hoping to get a chance to speak to all of you.” you tell her.

“Oh yes! But of course! Lady Leona is upstairs as we speak, but I will get my lunchbreak in an hour from now. Is that fine with you Lady Sara?” Amanda asks.

“But of course! I’ll head up to your room right away, I don’t want to keep your customers waiting in line with our small talk.” you say as you head over to employees only entrance and up the stairs to Amanda’s room.

“Eeehhh... Must you keep that thing on dear sister?” you hear Leona ask through the door.

“I do not have much of a choice in the matter.” you hear what you assume to be Erika, as the voice is not one you’ve heard of. “Though... I didn’t think it’d take this long to readjust like before...”

“Sister! The ha-”

“Ow!” you hear Erika reply in the room.

“Still training hard I see?” you ask as you enter the room slowly.

“Oh! Lady Sara!” Leona’s face brightens up as she sees you enter the room. “It’s so good to see you once again!”

“...Oh! Hello Lady Sara! It is so good to hear from you once again!” Erika says turning towards you in a smile. She’s still in her redhead form but her voice has changed. The bandage around her eyes is in place once again.

“Are you practicing to see once again?” you ask Erika.

“...Yes... Please don’t tell Master Sebastien about this. I was hoping that taking off my wrapping would only cause a short term loss of my skill, but appears this isn’t the case. It’s taking quite the bit of effort for me to get the passive sight I had once before.” Erika says.
>>
[3/4]

“Well he did warn you about that...” you remind her.

“I know! But I had to see my sister with my own two eyes and not with some blasted multicoloured haze!” Erika snaps back at you.

“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean any offense! I promise that if Sebastien brings it up I’ll back you up on such a thing!” you quickly reply.

“Still... It’s not that version of sight that worries me the most about her...” Leona says with a worried face.

Again? You thought she was over this. “Are you still worried about your sister being what she is?” you ask Leona.

Leona shakes her head.

“No... It was a nightmare I had... An extremely vivid one.” Erika replies to you.

“...Go on.” you say your interest being peaked.

“I... I was in Fort Hope at night... Snow was whipping around everywhere while a thunderstorm was brewing.” Erika says.

“A thunderstorm?” you ask. That’s very very rare up here. You can literally count the number of times you had a thunderstorm in your lifetime on one hand.

Erika nods. “But... It wasn’t as I imagined. Buildings were damaged... Blasted apart by magic as the various body parts of soldiers lay all over the ground... Fires could be seen... The damage in this attack was much, much worse than when Uncle Langy went on his rampage. But then... Then I saw... It...”

“It?” you ask.
>>
[4/4]

“A figure cloaked in darkness so that I was unable to see it. Red lines seemed to stream across its body as it stood amidst the wrecked homes and bodies. Holding... some sort of magical halberd that dripped with blood in his other hand while tentacles of darkness scanned the wreckage of the houses...” Erika says, bringing her hands to her eyes and rubbing them.

“What happened next?” you ask.

“I... I don’t remember... All I remember is that I woke up screaming...” Erika says in a pained voice. Her sister Leona walks over to her and begins to rub her shoulders as she begins to recall the memories. The next bit is inside of your head. (“Lady Sara, the houses were the same styling and place that you used to live as well.”)

Didn't she describe... Us?
As we were when we killed langley, at least.
>>
And that'd be it for tonight since the thread will most likely be dead tomorrow. Feel free to use the the rest of the thread for debate or whatnot.

Oh yes, DP values for Brodin and Erika:

Brodin: 404 DP (His stats barely went up at all for the entire quest. He deserves it.)

Erika: 326 DP (As a result of increased DP from her little quest we had with her. The price of Psionic powers will be the same as controls if you need the pricing for that. Psionics is a passive skill that increases only through natural use of Psionic powers.)

Hm... Not to make an ability list or something...

"I don't recognize that type of spirit. Though I was planning to consult with some friends tomorrow, they might know."
then chat with them and reassure them. Then obviously when Amanda shows up take her aside for our private chat.
>>

Awww.

Next Wednesday as usual? Or... sooner? if possible?
>>
>>24986324
standard "any idea when you are next running it" question.
>>
>>24986246
"The creature that fought Langy's old world machine? I had a nightmare about it too after that. But it had an axe, not a halberd."
>>
>>24986246
we don't use a halberd, we use an axe... and I'm pretty sure We were barehanded when we killed Langly.

I think she is describing another person with at least Great Darkness control.
>>
>>24986333
agreed. Open with us presenting our terms if at all possible.
>>
>>24986376
thirded.
>>
>>24986246
(This is worrying, considering your gifts dreams are unlikely to be simply that and nothing more. It is a portent of some kind, and not a pleasant one.

What you saw is someone with a command of Darkness equal, or perhaps superior, to my own. Reminds me of a dream I had with much the same figure not too long ago.

But there is nothing we can really do aside from prepare and be ready for the worst.)

"I'm sure it's just a dream Leona, and if it isn't than I suppose we'll have to deal with it when it comes to that, no use worrying about it now."
>>
>>24986368
Seems like it. A strong pride demon discovering us and laying waste to Fort Hope?
We'll need to keep an eye out for thunderstorms, anyway.
>>
>>24986333
The private chat being that we expect that she will help us out in return for us fulfilling all of her dreams? Make it loving and sympathetic but make it clear that we are in charge.
>>
>>24986478
That's what I've been supporting. Really hope we don't have to re-fight that one.
>>
>>24986324
Didn't getting a brand new control used to cost more then the first few upgrades with a poor control?
>>
>>24986324
Hmm, for Brodin I'd focus on upping Undead Resilience, Necrotic Shield, and Crossing the River Styx, also Horseman if he has the spare points.

For Erika, I'd focus on more Support Attack and similar abilities, but the highest priority going for Maximum Break.
>>
>>24986544
yes, fortunately its expensive enough that people will hopefully stop getting large numbers of them in favor of upgrading our existing controls and skills.
>>
>>24986577
Controls come with some great passives, magical protections, and elemental rock-paper-scissors so there is still reason to get new ones rather then just keep on upgrading the same one over and over.
>>
>>24986333
If we can't have a frank private chat with Ada I'll take Amanda. Support.
>>
>>24986606
Passives actually upgrade a lot as you level up the skill now (and we even get new ones). We don't just get it all at basic any more.
>>
>>24986333
I'm a bit ambivalent about this measure, but the "B-but we're friends" crowd can get more annoying than the people paranoid about Ada. Support.
>>
>>24986333
I've always supported Brooklyn growing a more confident, dominant demeanor, now seems a good time to start.
>>
I gotta say, I like the character development in this thread. Brooklyn is finally losing some of his more annoying soft edges and growing into a more confident person.
>>
>>24986739
I've been the same.
>>
>>24981395
>>24981428

Oh yes, I said I'd make a new and biggest ability list later on, but for now note that these abilities here are general purpose. Anyone can purchase them.

In addition, Support Defend should be on that list. It provides defensive support to a nearby ally if they are attacked, in where the defend jumps in to take the attack for the defendee, and takes reduced damage. AoE attacks bypass this skill as do combination attacks. This skill costs the same as Support Attack.
>>
>>24986333
Make sure we focus on how she offered to do "anything" but since we care for her, as our precious student and all that, we are going to ask for one hell of a lot less than what she offered. Be caring, confident, and where appropriate sexually dominant.
>>
>>24987369
Considering how terrified she is of destiny controlling her life, taking sexual advantage of her like that seems a bit wrong.

Relay with all the crazy stuff going on we should see the queens at some point for a complete debriefing. Perhaps when turning the twins we could introduce them to Mina and company I think. Should discuss the night mares also.

Oh remember to ask Mina for flying lessons.
