So, /tg/, I've got a proposition for you. Right now, on my hard drive, I've got King of Dragons Pass installed. What's King of Dragon Pass, you may say. Well, it's a 4X game about a celt-like civilization that leaves its home after chaos and monsters attack, and end up settling in the eponymous Dragon Pass. By venerating the gods to gain magic, going on heroic quests to emulate their glory, and solidifying your clan's settlement in the Pass, you may eventually form a tribe and become the King of Dragon Pass. What does this have to do with you, you ask? Well, I'm willing to run this game for /tg/. I'd take screenshots of the game and post them up for you all to decide on what actions to take. I may give advice or clarify the mechanics some, but any actual decisions would be left up to all of you elegan/tg/entlemen.So, here's my question to you all: who wants to lead a small, rag-tag bunch of cow-stealing, hard-drinking, squabbling peasants into a clan of glory and reknown? If you all are up for it, I will do this.
Again?Might as well remake the Runic Men I guess
>>24997314Again? Someone ran KoDP on here before?
>>24997314They had their chance to sign, we should have a different clan.
>>24997354Yeah, was quite popular.
Yeah, I'm always up for some celts.
>>24997354Yeah, The Runic men. Where have you been man? Possibly the best playthrough of king of dragon pass I ave ever seen.
Lets us be the Kal-El's Sons.
>>24997389>>24997420Huh. I was not aware of this fact; I just found the game myself about a month ago or so.
Daymn straight op! Let's get things rolling.
>>24997434That's not to say you shouldn't do it, though.
>>24997434Ah those were good times.Looking forward to a new beginning!
>>24997499>>24997516Well, that's enough encouragement for me. Give me a sec to get ready, and I'll get this stuff ready.
>>24997540should we start thinking up a clan name?
Oh hell yes King of Dragon Pass.Seeing as i want to run a Gloranthan campaign using Runequest 6 this sounds just great.
>>24997565Feel free to.
>>24997565Neckbear is an obvious, if somewhat boring suggestion.Hm...
>>24997588Some ideas>Rook>Snake eyes> ElderDice
>>24997565I like Kal-El's Sons.
>>24997639A bit /co, don't you think?
There once was a time when gods and people walked the earth together. Your clan traces its ancestry back to those times. Your clan history begins when you joined the forces of the storm god Orlanth. Back then, Orlanth was simply one of many upstart, rebellious gods bent upon conquest of the world. Orlanth's unique contributions at the time were personal honor and a close kinship to the other deities who seemed to be on the winning side. Also, I'll put stuff from me here in spoiler text. Unspoilered text is some form of IC as the Ring Speaker, I suppose.
>>24997648Mutants & Masterminds is /tg/ related, DC and Marvel both have their own RPG systems (though the quality of those is very much a subjective thing)
The details from those long-ago days shaped the clan as we know it. What was our role when Orlanth took his wife, Ernalda?I'm going to make decisions based on majority vote. Please limit your samefagging. If there's a tie after a certain amount of time, I'll announce I'm rolling randomly for the result, and won't accept more votes after my announcement.
I suggest the Frost Giants or whatever they were as enemies this time around.Frost Giants are dicks.
>>249977801: we donned armor and stood vigilant for the sake of our chosen dieties.

>>24997897>Runic Men>fantasy writers are all over those norse runes>Not getting that its a reference to Thor, god of thunder who frequently calls himself "Odinson">Our god is a thundergod.I guess we could call ourselfs "Thorsons"Though that sounds dangerously close to "Whoresons."
>>24997928ah cool.Well I support the frost giant thing, if only because they're the archetypical enemies of lots of fantasy themed heroes.
>>24997516I miss the Runic men. Anyone got any of the other images?
>>24997988Ok, idea for name: Rainmaker
I second Thorsons as i can't come up with any cool name for the life of me.I usually just nick real world tribe names when i play KoDP, like the Icenis or the Cimbris

>>24997829>>24997875>>24997911>>24997928Sorry, should have mentioned: please link votes to my post, for ease and simplicity's sake. While others enjoyed themselves or learned secrets from the Earth Mother, we stood proud and stalwart against those who would besmirch this great and joyous occasion. Got the Skyboar hunt up there, too, and the mistakes fixed.I'm going to allow for another 10 minutes of extra voting, but after that point, we are getting this show on the road with what I've got posted here.
Medium is fine. Hard is pretty much pointing your ass towards Snakepipe Hollow and spreading your cheeks.
I think we're all pretty much agreed, so maybe we should talk about what to do first?Exploring our Tula, maybe?
>>25000386Heroquest for an artefact before we grow attached to our leaders
>>25000400I'd only heroquest if we get a trickster from the very start.
>>25000386Gift all our cattle to our sworn enemy.
>>25000386Reorganizing the Clan Ring is pretty much the first thing you always so, so that.
>>25000417No, food.Sacrifice all our cattle to Eurmal instead.
And here is the clan tula of the Sky Sons, the smell of earth fresh from where we built our homes and plowed our fields.
>>25000429agriculture and crafting first, or we're shafted for the first year.
Spend all our magic on children
>>25000496Is this really such a bad idea? Children grow up to be militia.
>>25000517But until they grow big they'll eat all our food while being completely useless
>>25000517Children don't work, so they're just useless extra mouths to feed.
>>25000527I'm reasonably sure we can feed our children.
>>25000463We've been blessed by Elmal to have a good harvest without spending magic on it. Then again, at this point, we need as much food as we can get to stabilize our stores. Not much was brought with us from Heortland. I'm not sure what to make of this hideous laughter, either. Many members of the ring suggest allocating magic to Crops, Herds and Health. Others point out that we've done no heroquests yet, especially none to our patron god. How will we dedicate our magic? For the magic, just post one type of magic that you want to favor. For each point of magic we have, I'll consider one post. If we're already capped out on one form of magic, I'll ignore further posts of that type. Remember to link your votes to my post.
>>25000546Fuck, then I go and forget the screenshot. Some questrunner I am. Link to the first post for your votes, not this one.
>>25000546Before I nominate 'Quests', do we have a trickster or not?
>>25000546>>25000560>No tricksterWar then.
>>25000561Not currently on the ring. And I can't see the other potential leaders yet.
>>25000546Lurnings.We need to build up our nowleges
>>25000560Our chief is named Garstal? Game over, we've already won.
>>250005602 to crops, 1 to war, 1 to health and 1 to mysteries I say.
>>25000602Just one type of magic at a time, please. So, crops, then?
>>25000543>I'm reasonably sure we can feed our children.>Reasonably sure we can feed our people>King of Dragon Passlaughingdroughtdemons.jpg
At least one point in cattle, cattle = status
>>25000619>laughingdroughtdemons.jpgFuck those guys. If we get real short on snacks one year, we can just raid for it.
>>25000546Let's put some on trade.
>>25000645What is this trade you speak of?Is that when we raid our neighbours for their cattle?
>>25000657I lol'd heartily.
>>25000657You are trying to fool me
Keep atleast 2 in reserve.
>>25000657Yes. We trade our swords for their cattle. Strangely they seem to get upset when we try to give them the swords.
>>25000708Yeah, I forgot about reserves. That's how much we have left now. In the future, I'll ask how much you want to keep in reserve before I call for types of magic. My bad guys, I'm very sorry. Also, now I'm taking screenshots of each of the pages and compiling a list of your possible leaders so far. Talk amongst yourselves, I'll be a bit.
This is the lay of our crops and pastures at the moment. Many say that we have enough space for our herded animals at the moment, and that our farmhands could handle about 30 or so more hides worth of land before they were overworked.
>>25000827Here are all the clans we know of in the area. Wolf Clan are our allies, while the Peluskis and Vostangs long despise us. We've agreed to call upon the aid of the Arnorings, Blue Spruces, Boskovis, Karandolis, Kardarvis, Orlevings, Rakstantis, and the Taralings. We're in debt to the whole damn valley, it feels like. The Blackrock Clan, the Oak Tree Clan, and the Osgosi clans are in our debt, though, if we need assistance. They're honor-bound to help us if possible.
>>25000878Right now, we regularly send our goods to Eagle Clan and Narri Clan for sale. We small profits, which is better than none at all if you ask me. The points we spent in Trading magic already have seemed to work. Also, we possess Blacktail the Bull, a stud of great and wide reknown. With him mounting our cows, our herds will swell prodigiously.
>>25000910Here is our military might right now. Only 10 weaponthanes stand ready to defend us from harm, though we have a respectable amount of footmen to support them. Right now, though, they're out seeding the fields. We could try to recruit about four more weaponthanes with little trouble.
>>25000966Here is the breakdown of our population. According to the members of the ring, our wilds can support 45 hunters, far more than we have now, but we can only really trade 8 craftsmen-worth of goods. 328 men and women are needed out in the fields.
>>25001002Right now, we only have shrines to Elmal and Ernalda. Elmal's shrine gives us Steadfastness, while Ernalda has blessed our crops. We also know Odayla's gift of Tracking, but we do not have a shrine to him, yet.
Finding out what nobles are good and putting them in the ring is the best part of early micromanagement in KoDP.
>>25001074You're very right. At the moment, I'm giving the clan a good overview of their holdings before I move on to our leaders.
>>25001041This is the lay of Dragon Pass as we know it. Thankfully, our allies in Wolf are nearby, but so are our foes the Vostang. Peluski, thankfully, is farther away. Spaces outside a clan's tula are practically mysteries at this point to us.
>>25001074Yep let's rearrange that ring, then we'll explore our tula and get more thanes/crops
>>25001106These are the myths and legends as we understand them at the moment. As is our faith, we know the most famous tale of Elmal, but his bravery is the only quest which we can undertake at the moment. All right, now for the really fun part: listing all your nobles. This will probably be another while, sorry for the delay.

>>25001436Overall, our nobles are generally skilled with Animals and Combat. Fitting, given we helped Orlanth take down the Sky Bear.In my opinion, Garstal and Korlaman are prime leadership material, fit to be kings and clan leaders once they get some hair on their chest. Garstal has better leadership, while Korlaman's knowledge of magic is amongst the best in the clan.Of course, Kenstrel's position as a trickster will be useful, if we desire it.Renalda, Enastarra, Enastankos, Rangor are excellent farming consultants. Valensta is the only one remotely equipped to do any sort of trade. She's the only worshipper of Issiaries, as well.Ernaldess, Angorri, and Voskandora are our best war-leaders and explorers.Kulbrast and Endal would make great poets and masters of crafting on the ring. Kulbrast also venerates Lhankor Mhy, if we want to give him tribute.Hankorl is the only worshipper of Chalana Arroy amongst our lords as well.
>>25001255Angorri and Arene have the highest leadership, one of them should be chief to avoid a potential coup. I pick Angorri because lol sexism
>>25001524Voting for the new ring will work similarly to how we voted for magic. Each person will vote for one lord, and can choose to vote for that lord as Clan Chief. The seven lords with the most votes will be put on the ring, and the one with the most votes as clan chief will become clan chief. Just vote, for instance "Garstal" if you want him on the ring, or "Garstal, Clan Chief" if you want him to be chief. Link your votes to this post. You've got 15 minutes.
>>25001531You mean that they should be fed to Cragspider ASAP to avoid a potential coup.
>>25001561Just make one of the Elmal dudes into chief, and then toss the people with the highest stats plus the Trickster onto the ring.
It gets a lot more interesting from here on out, all, I promise. Once we get the ring under control and a few other things ironed out, we can really begin playing. I apologize for this micromanagy patch we have to steam through.
>>25001561Garstal for leader, because fittingKenstrel as trickster of course.Enastarra for Animals/Plants and generally good statsSplit on Arene or Valensta for Bargaining, Valensta is better but is 20 years older, so Arene has more potential. Both of them have uncommon gods too. Go with Arene I guess.Fantarl for that combat + magic combo.Voskandora for Vinga worship + combat (Fantarl can be our mage). Finally, Kulbrast for cusrom + Lhankor Mhy + youngish and with decent allround stats.Might regret no Chalana Arroy worshippers, but fuck it.Also, Kenstrel (not that it matters) and Fantarl don't have their Bargaining listed, and Minara has no Combat.
>>25001727Those stats aren't listed because those characters have no rating in those stats. Basically, they're less than fair in them.
>>25001791oh, didn't know that could happen. Guess they're dragging down the clan!
>>25001727I'm good with that
>>25001561So decided, our clan ring has been reformed to better suit the skills we need of our leaders. Garstal is ecstatic that he got to remain clan chief, despite inheriting the role on a provisional basis when we first arrived in Dragon Pass. Now that such matters are resolved, how should we spend this season? Our farmers are working in the fields, seeding for the harvest and such won't appreciate full-scale raiding. Making offerings to various gods, recruiting more warriors and hunters, exploring our tula, or going on a heroquest are all great options while the fyrd works the land.
>>25001897explore the tula and if possible recruit more thanes.I would wait until dark season for the mysteries
>>25001897Yeah, explore locally and get a few more thanes.
>>25001939>>25002031I like it.Then a cattle raid in our first fire season against those accursed Vostangs?
Finally, something interesting happened! Before we can marshal our recruiters to find more good swordsmen, an envoy from Blue Spruce comes to us. Apparently, one of our children is destined to be a great hero to Lhankor Mhy, the Knowing God! Our neighbors ask to take the child from us and instruct them in the secrets and ways of the Knowing God.What say you all? Shall we allow their request, and if so, what do we ask for in return?
>>25002065Yes, ask for knowledge.
>>25002065How are Blue Spruce relations? Also apparently the parents have no say, heh.Anyway, I figure allow it in return for knowledge, we're unlikely to get anything out of the kid anyway since we're not big on the Lhankor-man.
>>25001106>>25002146Going by the quoted post relations are poor but we're not feuding.
>>25002146They neither dislike us nor like us. We are indebted to them, though. Voskandora argues to keep the child for ourselves, though I feel it's so there's another soldier for the battlefield. The child's parents will be sad, of course, but if the ring commands it, they will obey and have to take solace in their child going to serve a greater power.
>>25002065Let them raise her but not as a member of their clan
>>25002123>>25002146We agree to let them raise the child as one of their own, but in exchange they must give us a gift of knowledge. The Spruces are eager for the child, it seems, and teaches us the tale of "Humakt the Champion." Now we can go on one of two heroquests!
>>25002280Unfortunately, Fire Season is already upon us. Some wanted to put a cattle raid against our hated foes, the Vostangs. Shall we attempt a raid with the handful of warriors we possess, or raise more? Or hold off on stealing our neighbor's cows?
>>25002313Raise warriors, then raid.
>>25002313ugh, we don't have a lot of thanes yet.fuck it, get to raiding. just a small one to get in the habit.
>>25002313Time to raise them thanes...Then also our crops/craftersI would hold off attacking for the first year.
>>25002380We're already at the maximum number of crafters we can support at the moment. A temple to Issiaries and more trade routes would gives us more opportunities to make use of our crafters, though.
>>25002324>>25002380Four more weaponthanes were added to our ranks. There's still time in the season to snach some unsuspecting heifers, though.Of course we could raid our old foes the Vostangs, but the members of the ring also suggest Oak Trees and Karadavi as potential targets; they're not particularly martial, it seems. What say you all? Also, considering dropping the input time to five minutes to keep things flowing better. Thoughts on that?
>>25002480We have enemies enough already. Let's stick to our old feuds for now.Don't forget what the Vostangs did to Korlmyr's wife and children!I'm fine with it.
>>25002407Then i vote crops.I'd say go diplomatic with our neutral neighbours during fire season and try to build a watch tower asap for our large territory.
>>25002480SureVostangs, no need to provoke more until we can afford more thanes.
>>25002542>>25002514Ten each of our warriors and footmen are sent out to find the best Vostang cows they can. They come back whooping and hollering in victory, having brought back over a dozen! For their first cattle raid, the warriors are feeling flush and happy with their success.
>>25002599awww yisss, we're the masters of this pass.
>>25002599Not long after the thanes come back with their prizes, we're met by followers of Yinkin, the god of cats. They offer to tame and empower the alynxes that stalk our forest, so as to better fight off the vermin that spread disease and eat crops. They don't work for free, though; should we take them up on their offer, and what should we offer them for their troubles?
>>25002648We owe too many favours already by the sound of things. Let's offer them some of our cats. They like cats, right?
>>25002648Offer cats, what can go wrong? These guys are clearly the crazy cat lady equivalent of the Pass, they'll never turn down cats.
>>25002648I agree, those guys can have cats.
>>25002679>>25002699>>25002726We offered them our finest alynx kittens, but apparently they were descended from Black Havoc, and thus not fit for gifts to the followers of Yinkin. They're willing to accept something else, though.
>>25002750Lame.Well we have some spare magic, how about sharing that? We'll need our goods to build a watchtower, and giving away the cattle we just got would piss off our thanes.
>>25002750Offer them goods as proof of our great wealth and generosity.say... 10 goods, 5 cattle
>>25002775I disagree, we need magic if we're attacked during fire season (and we most likely will be by the volstangs).
>>25002811Eh, fire season's almost over.
>>25002850After a blessing of ours to share our clan's magic, the Yinkin cultists go to work and gladly perform this service for us. Hopefully disease should leave us alone for a few seasons hence. And the Volstangs chose not to counter-raid us: they're as cowardly as they are black-hearted, it seems. What shall we pursue in Earth season, good lords?
>>25002886We could maybe spare a dozen or so men from the harvest to scout out our tula?Best not do too much in earth season though. Good harvest or no we still need to bring it in.
>>25002909It's certainly possible, especially if we sent few of the fyrd, but many thanes along with an escort.
>>25002886harvest all day all night.
>>25002886Nice! Let's explore the tula now.
>>25002935>>25002909Voskandora has volunteered to explore the lands around our tula. Shall she go, or another skilled in combat and leadership? How quickly should she go, and how much of an escort should she have?At the end of Storm season, I think I'm going to call it a day you guys. Giving you a heads up.
>>25002990Let her go at a normal pace, with ... finger in the air... eight footmen, eight thanes?A small party with about equal numbers of each is my thought, anyway.
>>25002990Might as well put her to work. 8/8 sounds fine to me.
>>25003029More good news! Voskandora comes back with the location of some valuable stones, it seems. Our craftsmen should be able to make quality goods from them.
>>25003085It seems our good luck has broken, however. It seems that there's a number of men with complaints against our clan leader, Garstal. They blame him for a litany of problems our clan faces, from poor relations with others to sour milk. What should we do about this kinstrife?
>>25003117Talk him down.Nobody chiefs like Gasto- I mean Garstal.
>>25003117Who put you up to this?
>>25003131By refuting his arguments, or reminding him of his duty to the clan?
>>25003160Refuting, i'd think.>>25003155But asking who put him up to it could work.
>>25003155>>25003183Hm, it seems Angorri isn't happy with being sidelined in favor of such a whippersnapper. Angorri can be talked with later, but for now, we have to resolve this dispute.
>>25003231Dispute their allegations, I think, now we know who put him up to it.
>>25003231I would dispute that, with someone that has a lot in custom.
>>25003256>>25003262Unfortunately, our leader Garstal is not silver-tongued enough to counter each of their accusations, and Angorri's lackey Enderos pushes the matter further.
>>25003296I guess we'll have to remind them of their duty, and if that doesn't work ask Garstal to step down. These guys are stubborn.
>>25003296oh shit...remind them of their duty i guess
>>25003348>>25003352Enderos counters by saying he's no slave, and that Garstal can't force him to do anything. He chose to follow Garstal's orders, and is apparently not content to do so anymore.
>>25003296sadly you can't cut the insolent cur down, so, outlaw him
>>25003404Err, redirect my vote here>>25003400
>>25003400>>25003404He may be insolent, but he's also right. That is one of Orlanth's laws.We should elect a new chief.
>>25003418>>25003439Rolling between these two.
>>25003480Growing red in the face, Garstal orders Angorri to leave Sky Sons lands and never return. Now we're rid of a disloyal and subversive carl, but he took a dozen carls and cows with him to Wolf clan, where he's now a thane. A disappointing turn of events, surely.
>>25003536There's still days left in Earth Season, and the farmers still toil out in the fields to feed our clan. What should we pursue before the snows drive us indoors?
>>25003557I guess we could try recruiting some new carls to the clan to replace those lost?
>>25003536damn them all to Ty Kora Tek
>>25003536watch tower?how much is that?
>>2500361310 goods, and we have 120. Easily constructed.Rolling between >>25003595 and >>25003613.
>>25003595I agree, hopefully ones that won't rebel, fucking bastard sons of long haired she wolves!
>>25003639A few logs and a staircase are constructed on the north end of the tula, hopefully alerting us to incoming raids. Just as the first snows start to fall, Iskalli introduces the clan ring to Orlkenson Bronzebones, a former thane of the despised Vostang clan. It seems Orlkenson was exiled by the Vostang clan leader, and Iskalli is petitioning us to admit him into our clan. Iskalli also vouches for his character. What shall we do with this man?
>>25003712Any man the Vostangs see fit to exile is welcome here.We should feast him. Failing that, give him quarters in the chief's hall.
>>25003712Give him quarters in the Cheif's Hall, in defiance of our hated enemy! Or, just feast him, either is fine.
>>25003735>>25003775A few of our thanes grumble over Orlkenson getting such prestigious lodgings without having earned them, but we have definitely gained a powerful warrior. Our harvest went well this year, providing us with plenty of food. A midwinter feast to celebrate our good fortune is possible.Valensta comes back with poor news on the economic front as well. It seems Wolf clan mocked our goods when we brought them to market. She admitted their crafters are more skilled than ours, but didn't see why were castigated so.Dark season is upon us, friends, and the cold winds remind us of our ancestral foes. Whilst we try to keep us and the cows from freezing, what should we do with our clan?
>>25003836Feast to reassure our people, welcome a powerful warrior, and celebrate a good harvest!
>>25003858>>25003882A feast! All the clan turns out to celebrate the harvest's good fortune.Should we have a small, medium, or large feast? And should we invite our neighbors as well?
>>25003899I'd say large, but keep it in the clan. If even our allies the wolves will mock us so, our neighbours can stay out in the cold.
>>25003921The clan enjoys themselves greatly, welcoming the reprieve from the cold. What else should we do in these dark and lonesome times?
>>25003979Sacrifice for something, maybe a mystery. What spells do we know?
>>25003979Sacrifice to... someone for their mysteries? Winter's always tough, but we still have a decent stockpile of goods.Ernalda maybe? As thanks for the earth's bounty?
>>25004027>>25004030We have Elmal's Steadfastness, Ernalda's Crop Blessing, and Odayla's Tracking. Shrines give us Elmal's and Ernalda's boons, while we would have to sacrifice to invoke Tracking.
>>25004055Damn, me again. Name fell off.
>>25004055I think i'll stick by Ernalda's mysteries. Ever since that other anon laughingdroughtdemons.jpg'd me, i've been worried about feeding everyone.Give her ten goods?
>>25004055Sacrifice to Chalana Arroy, then, so we can get healing for when we need to raid.
>>25004127Then again, now you mention it, Chalana's always a safe bet and we do have Ernalda's blessing already.
>>25004097We offered woven baskets and our newfound shining stones to Ernalda, and in return, she said she could watch over our sows. Just as we completed our rites, a Storm Bull from Vostang thundered his way into the tula, demanding that we produce the adopted thane Orlkensor. The Urox worshipper claims Orlkensor demeaned his honor, and he wants it back, while Bronzebones states he swore to Ernalda that he would not hurt the Uroxi, and if the two came to blows, one would surely die. This is quite the delicate matter. What should we do?>>25004127>>25004165Sorry, already clicked the button. Next season, easily done, though.
>>25004255Suggest they resolve things peacefully, I reckon. Can't lose our new Thane to some Vostangi cur.
>>25004290It seems peace is a foreign thing between these two. Force, in some capacity, will have to be employed. The question is upon whom.
>>25004367Drive off the Uroxi then. He can't take on a united clan.
>>25004367Have Orlkensor fight him, if he's as tough as he says he is, he'll win, if not, no big loss.
