You are a human-form gargoyle crafted of marble set to protect a small town on the frontier of the wild darkness. Your people are still ignorant of what you are, and rightfully so.

Knowledge of what you are would simply prove that they fear you or the monsters among them tempt your destruction.

Last night: Alice walked in on the clean-up after the making of the new Gargoyle that used the soul of the young village girl, Molly Smith.

While Pastor Clegane and Marble Mason had calmed Alice down, you and the newly cut Gargoyle exchange words. You chose not to name her, and let it be determined by the townspeople. It was special to Angel and it will be special for Mo- the new Gargoyle as well...

Beginning your refular Patrol around the town, you noticed that something was amiss.. A strange stir in the air, a cloudless night sky and swarms of countless tooth-fairies descend upon Hearthson at the command of the Lady of Teeth, the Unseelie Duchess that took offense to your slaughter of her subjects the prior night.

The battle raged on within the night sky, yet for every attempt you made at dealing her a wounding blow, she slipped from your grasp.

The Fae Duchess's teeth also proved immensly troubling for you, crushing through the dense marble that composes your form. Silver, iron, and copper veins with it.

You fell to the village streets among the chaos. Blinded through her teeth ravaging your face, a broken wing, and a lost left arm.

The Lady of Teeth stands before you, the only thing you can see due to the power of Faerie fire you cast upon her...

Awaken Gargoyle, the night is dark.
>>
Metaphorically staring death in the face, you feel at a loss for your action. Every instinct within you whether it be borne from your demonic soul or your programming screams at you just to attack her, kill her, destroy her...

Yet at this point, you understand that it would be in vain to attempt to fight her. You stay upon a knee on the earth, you know not what the ground under you is like.

"Perhaps I would die here, but if so... hear my last words. You called me a demon, but my mind is fae and thus I shall be called."

While you can't see the expression of the Lady of Teeth, you can see her outlines.

She tilts her head and begins to hover in the air, some distance from you," We, the Fae, judge actions and what one would say. You trespass our land, and upon my children you would prey."

You roar at that part, it is not true. "They tried to eat ME and I retaliated!"

The Lady of Teeth does not flinch,"Such matters are for naught given satisfaction paid this night. Our children take one hundred of yours to set matters right. "

You rise up, and feel the tiny jaws of stray tooth fairies gnawing upon your body. You move to squash them, yet freeze as you realize that it would lead to further loss of human life.

With some pain, internal, you keep this talk going as you feel your face begin to slide back into place.. though it's still a long way from done.

"So, this is the punishment of a noble duchess of the unseelie?! A massacre in reparation for a slight on me?"

You hear a giggle from the Unseelie creature," Ah, yes. We see it now. The slight bit of Fae in you even now. You sou-"

You hear a shrill and piecing screech from the creature that's been making its approach upon you.

You hear the sound of it landing, an audible stone on stone.

The unseelie looks over in the direction of the new presence," How.... unsightly... This... monstrosity..."

You hear the voice of a demon scream," Killl! Kill them allll!"
>>
ITS HAPPENING!!!!!
>>
The new presence's weight feels familiar to you, as far as you can tell from your tremor-sense... It's very similar to the weight and size of the new gargoyle...

Your sense of the air pressure however is... distorted from something within the air...

You only hear the steps of the mad creature as it growls savagely, approaching the undaunted form the the Unseelie Duchess.

"You. I will. Kill. You." The monstrous creature whispers out its violent intent this time...

You feel the little lives of the tooth faeries being smothered out by the creature's presence, vanishing as it gets near.

"Who knew the young race of man could give their demons such a face. . . We, The Lady of Teeth, shall make certain it knows its place. The Fae hisses out her rhyme and you feel her outline nearly vanish from her movement.

The Faerie clashes with the new foe and you see her back off, and quickly after attempting to take a bite from the blurred mass you sense.

You feel the demonic creature move, tearing through the cobblestone to get at the fleeting Fae.

The Lady of Teeth dances around her opponent, her singing words drifting upon the air,"A fire the night does not see, one that could frighten even we. We shall wait till it runs its time, and when that occurs, you shall be crushed quite fine..."

The demonic foe, of the Unseelie, and likely ally of yours seems confused at the Lady's movement. . .

This distraction gives you time to act, as your body slowy heals from its damages.

You hear beyond the soft hum of the Unseelie's wings the screams of the villagers as the teeth faeries prey upon them.

You sense life panicking and swirling all around you, making it hard to focus... You know not exactly where you are, what will you do?

Mana (9/22)
>[] Cast a spell upon the outline.
>[] Join the skirmish, try to seal the Fae's movements!
>[] Retreat, if the other falls, you may still need time to recover.
>[] Speak to the Lady of Teeth.
>[] Speak to your ally(?)
>[] (Other)
>>
>[] Join the skirmish, try to seal the Fae's movements!
Bind her, trip her, I care not. But STOP her so the newcomer can land a blow.

Also if we get her still we should try lightning.
>>
>>25003502
Faerie fire dat sonuvabitch followed by RIP AND TEAR.
>>
>>25003560

Lightning is an instantaneous spell, so hitting is not necessarily an issue.

The issue would be actually casting it right now.

Cloudless sky places its DC at 90.
>>
>>25003629
no lightning please, conserve mana for more effective spells like Faerie fire which we should use and burning hand which we should use after they grow back which might be fater either we ot the dutches is dead.
>>
>>25003621

The Lady of teeth still has Faerie fire upon her. Either she hasn't noticed or she finds it amusing.

However, I'm seeing two skirmish-type votes. As an aside, most spells do not use up your action economy to cast them, unless I explicitly state otherwise.
>>
>>25003678
so can the new gargoyle not see it? is it limited to the caster?
>>
>>25003759
You can sense the location due to the casting.

The other gargoyle can observe it, however cannot track solely by the fae fire.

Think of it as tagging the target to your own senses, while making it visible to others.

I'm going to take the skirmish rolls if nothing else comes up.
>>
>>25003678
seeing as how we have both arms as far as the elbows, a single wing and a chewed up face id say all we can do is call upon the power of THUNDER and hope for the best

You are limited to three at a time, and they dispel upon a hit, yet they may be fabricated so long as there are shadows.

Oh fuck, that exp was a typo, Shadow forge was purchased last part...

EXP is at 1...
>>
>>25003987

Yes, however the proportional mana cost also rises. Burning hands costs 2 mana per round, body costs 4 mana per round.

Going with lightning as of now to move things along.

Mana cost is 6.

DC is 90.

Primal heart is +20 to primal rolls.

Please roll 1d100.

Wow. That happened for the last lightning roll too... just made it..

Fyi/ Lightning is instantaneous so long as you are aware of the target and manage to cast it.

So Fae-Fire + lightning pretty much guarantees a hit.

Writing. Phew.

Isn't she basically at full health? Can't remember how quick she was regenerating after taking damage.
>>
>>25004263

Angel scored one cut on her with a shadow-forged weapon before she took it away.

Aside from that, she suffered a discharge from when Angel stored lightning within its copper veins.
>>
With your body all too crippled at the moment, you maintain awareness of the alighted Lady of Teeth, her outline zipping too and fro in the inky black of your lost vision.

Rising up and standing firm even as you feel your ally making subtle, futile moves in an attempt to catch the Fae, you fix your attention to the sky, feeling out the calm air currents and calling attention to the power among them.

Deep down, within your own heart, you feel the old Troll of the Wood taking notice of your introspection. It stares at you, and then up to the heavens.

You grab hold of the power held within the sky, expending the mana needed to harness that power, you summon a bolt of lightning, directed at the Lady of Teeth, her outlined form, the target.

You hear the Fae Duchess Scream in Agony as her movements become erratic and your ally roars with a surge as they lunge upon the halted Faerie," Die!"

The Lady of Teeth writhes and screams further as you feel her outline begin to diminish under the presence of the other force.

You feel the swarms of Tooth Faeries surge upon your unseen ally, and being vanquished in the disturbance.

You hear a demon's roar of pain as your ally of the dark seems to have lost a touch of weight, yet it does not falter.

You can not tell what is happening, however it is obvious that the Lady of Teeth is still alive, and she's biting back...

What will you do?

>Her outline may very well be gone after next turn...

>[] Approach the scuffle. You will finish the Faerie and take her soul.

>[] Let it ride out, you would only get in the way.

>[] Call for your ally's retreat.

I rate the difference in measure of success, though some opponents are like to inflict more damage.

In this case, the first round is her win by 1 point. She currently suffers a -35 penalty to at least her first combat roll, likely the rest.

This roll is for the Unseen ally pinning her....
>>
You make your way over to the Lady of Teeth, even as she fights back, against your comrade, her strength seeming to wane even as she gets those vicious bites in. from her position.

You hear her speak in a thousand angry whispers as she curses at her attacker.

Having closed in on the trapped Duchess, you smile, with what you have left pf your face," Seems that this night is won by us.

"Demons, the both of you! The Darkest nights take you, The Unseelie of this sta-"

You feel the other gargoyle shift, striking the violent Faerie, as it growls out words," Silence Worm, I shall eat you, and grow stronger for it. Let the prey come, I will destroy them... I will destroy them all."

The demon-like manner of your unseen ally worries you... You cannot see... yet the weight was similar to the Molly-Gargoyle earlier... You will have to wait until your eyes return to confirm.

Your ally strikes down at the Fae again, and you feel a sudden selfish desire as you slam into the other stone construct and place yourself atop the Lady of Teeth, the creature begins snapping at the air and you can feel the flesh of hers that's been burnt away and distorted.

"Monst...ers... All of you human toys..." She weakly chides from the strikes.

With a swift rise, and before the Fae-fire goes out, you plant a solid stomp onto the Faerie's neck, crushing her throat, and ending the Lady of Teeth.

You hear a savage growl from your ally as you place your remaining wing around the dead Fae and begin to take her soul.

"That prey... it is mine... you ste-"

"I am not sure that I even have the power to contain this foe. She would overtake you from within. I am stronger than-"

"I am stronger, you know not of what you speak, Angel. You deny the demon within, the Lady showed me how to embrace it. I will concede the Fae to you..." The voice suddenly becomes more... Gargoyle.. Between Demon and God.. and feminine..." It would disgust me anyway."

>>
>>25005317

It's the power of the enemy. The Chance would be worse without Soul Siphon.

Conversely, these traits will be very expensive should they not be purchased.

Lowest will be Teeth at 10 exp. ( I figure you'd really like to have teeth that can fuck up something as solid as marble with a mere bite. It's a ravaging melee attack. The other two traits aside from Unseelie shadows are likewise powerful.

Will a gargoyle take a risk vs reward? or will it take the easy way?

As you swallow in the power, the first thing that comes to mind are those viscious teeth of hers.. a jaw that crushed your marble body as though it were chalk... That image sticks in your mind even as you feel fleeting thoughts of mischief and then a surge of malicious intent...

You feel the Duchess whisper violently into your mind," Well, you have caught me... Suppose I will play this game for a short while... However with my power comes my will.. I shall see that such a despicable creature as yourself knows its place... You... My dear Fae, have been warned..."

The Lady of Teeth begins to settle within your internal domain, and you feel a wave of relief wash over you... the enemy is finally dead, the remaining tooth faeries will likely scatter now and you'll have time to repair your vision. . .

"Are you done yet? Lady Manse would like to meet with you at the usual place."

Hearing that name would draw a cold sweat to your brow if you had the flesh of humans... You know, she will want you to answer for this...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The New Gargoyle, as you had identified her, helps you back to the church.. Her manner remains queer the entire way. Not wondrous or gentle... You feel only a seething hatred beneath her body and a savage, burning heart ready to rend and tear any that threaten this village..

With your arrival at the church, your missing hand is still in the process of forming, and one of your eyes has recovered enough to at least make out shapes.

Within, you feel the presence of Pastor Clegane, and Alice, while being able to see the white of Marble, and the colors of the new luxurious fashion that Lady Manse has taken to tonight.

The doors close behind you and you hear Marble begin to speak, however you quickly hear the commanding voice of Victora Manse," Quiet." A resounding and authoritative tone... quite unlike her usual fantastic demeanor.

(Cont. Write in some dialogue.)

>>25005973
that reminds me, the mysterious boat man should arive tomorow, better stash the fairy somewhere safe, i get the feeling a unseele duchess will rake in more dough than a bakery that made too much dough
>>
>>25006085

You may have an opportunity to do that.

I hope you remember that there were two boats...
>>
>>25006096
that there was mason, that there was... i cant even imagine what was onboard boat number 2, possibly some exp or spell related trade
>>
>>25006084
Damn, we really needed to keep her out of Lady Mance's clutches for the first few nights at least. I somewhat regret not naming her Hope when we had the chance.
>>
>>25006084
we are fucked with a capital fan to the newly aquired teeth, we cant realy avoid the blame here since we went to the forrest with the intent to hunt and got fucked up and brought the trouble back with us resulting in the death of who knows how many. she has evry right to be furious with us.
>>
>>25006096
I think Apoligetic and accepting of the blame is the best. "I went to the southern (I think it was south) forest for prey and I was arrogant. When I realized I was would lose I fled. And she followed. This failure is my doing. Though she will not harm another. The Duchess of the Teeth is mine thanks to the new gargoyle."
>>
"You asked for me, my lady?"

Victora Manse stays where she is, at the rear of the church, Marble by her side, seeming rather meek by comparison.. at least that's what you take from the air pressures.

"Why yes, I did Gargoyle... I had a question, one that you might answer." Her voice is steady, and noticeably livid. "By chance.. Could you tell me, why, in the name of the nobility that a DUCHESS OF THE FAE would attack my little settlement of Hearthson?" One of your eyes repairs itself well enough to give you perfect vision of Manse, just in time to see that despite her tone, she still wears her eccentric smile, only her eyes and voice betray her fury.

You see that the Pastor and Alice are also within the room, this is the first time you've seen Alice within the same room as Victora... it's... odd..

Marble's skin has gone paler than even before, all the blood is drained from her face as she stands beside Victora as though she's awaiting Judgement.

The new Gargoyle beside you is missing her left arm past the elbow, and has chucks taken out of her side... The once-white Marble blackened from whatever it was that she had used to kill the Faeries.

Yet that is unimportant... Victora is awaiting an answer... And you had better make it good...

>[] Speak (Write in)
>[] Attack Victora
>[] Flee.
>>
>>25006313
repeating this.
>>
You also see that Victora is wearing a black gown with yellow lacing this evening with her hair color a golden blonde tonight and a yellow rose tied into her usual French Twist.

She does' not have the fan, yet instead she has an unbrella at she is currently using as a cane. Her lipstick is gold.

Her smile is so upturned, it raises up her cheeks, even in her anger...
>>
>>25006363
Final answer? More dialogue is often good..
>>
>>25006313
Switch prey to "in search of potential threats" we were stupid and reckless, but intimately we were still motivated by our purpose of protecting the town.
>>
>>25006331
"I was only doing as you ordered my lady, I thought it best to take the initiative and bring the fight to those who would surely attack us in the future, the fairies spoke of how their leadew was getting hungry, I have no doubt they would have attacked eventualy in numbers greater than tonight.
>>
>>25006419
True, but I think we deserve a serious, probably ongoing punishment for all the bad decisions (in her eyes) we've made recently. We certainly are not the gargoyle that she commissioned.
>>
>>25006419
if it would help then bring up that we stoped the banshee with no casualties, warewoolf with minimal casualties, uncovered the mayor child murder and droped a troll miles fron the town
>>
>>25006527
Actually, now that I've said that, someone please come up with some decent dialogue for us. I think she's going to permanently de-wing us so we can't travel far from town and bring trouble back with us in the future.
>>
>>25006596
Please ignore all typos and gramerical errors that appear in pretymuch all of my posts as it is very late.
>>
>>25006615
she might aswell just replace us entirely with the new gargoyle
>>
>>25006642
...
>>
>>25006655
well molly is right beside us if she wants that option.
>>
>>25006642
Like the one we built her? Disagree. She has the unnamed gargoyle for long ranged threats now, so having us focus on the town where we won't (presumably) invite new trouble constantly. And where enough trouble to warrant a gargoyle's full attention seems to be brewing anyway,
>>
You decide that now would be indeed the least oppurtune time to show any hint of defiance. Taking a knee, you lower yourself before Lady Manse, earning a slight softening of her eyes, yet in the next twinkling, it's gone.

With a bow of your head, you answer the Lady...

"I was doing as you had ordered my lady, I thought it best to take initiative and bring the fight to those who would attack us in the future... I slaughtered the Fae that sought to eat me and then the Duchess of Teeth appeared, demanding satisfaction. We fought, yet I had been arrogant, and I fled when I realized I would be destroyed. She followed. This failure is my doing, yet it has been rectified with the help of the new Gargoyle. The Duchess of Teeth will not har-"

"Silence." You hear Victora's voice echo beyond your own unearthly tone.

The woman approaches, and the Gargoyle next to you departs from your side.

Victora Manse place her Umbrella beneath your chin and lifts your head up so that you look upon her face.

Her eyes have softened quite an extent... in fact she seems almost... pleased," So. The faeries tried to eat you. So... it was self defense, yes?"

You begin to nod, yet feel the tip of the umbrella unmoving You speak instead," Y-yes."

Her eyes sparkle with a touch of satisfaction," Oh, that is quite good to hear. Quite good indeed. Seems that her behavior caused her own death then. That is good, oh yesss, it is quite good." Victora begins to nod her head up and down excitedly, almost like a child," Yes, that is... mmm indeed."

You feel a bit relieved, yet a sharp crack of her umbrella dropping you to the floor wakes you up to the fact that this "trial" is not over.

You hear an audible gasp from Marble at the blow, and you slowly rise up, feeling deep cracks running through your only recently recovered face. Your eye remains in tact.

Lady Manse halts your getting up, by shoving the tip of the umbrella down onto your chest.

(i've got nothing)
>>
>>25006809
"how many (villagers) were lost tonight, (insert appropriate title)?"

Not sure if we shouldn't just take whatever she intends to dish out.
>>
>>25006809
Shes mad about the whole molly is a gargoyle fiasco. appologise for that by explaning that one of our charges, the smiths daughter, had been posesed by a deamon which had been feeding on the towns people and we thought we could put her to better use than simply "disposing" of her, she saved you aswell and has shown her capabilities as an adequate gargoyle...
>>
"Yes, it is quite good that I am uninvolved in this matter, so we need not have all the damned Fae in the land declaring war upon humanity. As it stands, it may only be the Unseelie in this... particular... province..." Lady Manse bends down just a touch and shows you her left hand, while her right keeps the umbrella on you.

A silver ring with intricate markings adorns her ring finger.. You recognize that ring that you had so fervently sought out.

She seems to catch wind that you're privy with this ring," Yes, the Seal of Solomon. The contract item for 72 Major demons of the Hells. The same demons that lead so many legions..." She looks at the back of her hand nonchalantly.

"I called for Eligor's aid, managed to get a few lesser demons to come and fed them to our new friend here,,, she is quite voracious... and that black flame? Simply marvelous. She's not nearly quite so uppity as you.. Truly, she would replace you excellently..

Yet with this attack, and its necessary sacrifices, I should see an appeal to our own Nobility sanctioning war against the Unseelie of this province..." Lady Manse chuckles a little, yet then her manner stops cold.

"Ah, yes, the one catch however... You have failed me. As such, I should indeed break you for dishonoring my name and failing to protect your charges from your own bravado.

However, I will give you a choice..."

It takes a moment for you to wrap your mind around the words that she speak when you hear that this woman is giving you a choice...

"Please... Tell me what mercy you have for me..." You whisper, nearly groveling... this woman's power is unearthly... and her status... you are indeed beholden to her... Further, you fear her just as much as you hate her.

This woman smiles,"I have learned of something interesting this night. Your name."

"I am Angel."

"The one from before you were a Gargoyle, the truth is, it surprised me."

"What does it matter?"

(Cont.)
>>
>>25007041
nope, we aren't going to out Molly and the Mason's very illegal actions.
>>
>>25007096
Agreed. And we need to feed Molly a bunch of primals and fae asap.
>>
>>25007063
If she asks if we want to know who we were we should tell her we aren't interested. That person was utterly annihilated in our creation.
>>
"The matter is this. I condemn you to having your wings removed, and being thrown into the deep wilderness where no man has tread... Or, I offer you the choice of learning your human name to see exactly... How mad learning of it will make you? I may even be merciful after you learn your name, granting you priviledge as vanguard while we crush the Unseelie and lay claim to this land...." She finally removes the umbrella from your chest, yet you remain down.

You look at Marble, who's eyes are nearly pleading, she must understand the consequence of learning the name... Or she fears for what would essentially be a state of exile.

Alice stares defiantly at Lady Manse, obviously she hasn't liked what she's said thus far.

Pastor Clegane remains a stoic, though you get the feeling that in part he sides with you... then again... you brought this massacre to the town.

The other Gargoyle... the Molly One... It stares at you hungrily with its blackened marble.

What will your choice be?

As much as I'd like to chow down on all those things in between us and the town. We gotta talk to Molly about how embracing one aspect of her self leads to madness. She needs a mentor.
>>
>>25007220
"If I were to choose exile, and found my way back here... would I be given another chance."
>>

WE'RE GONA MISS THE BOAT!!!!
>>
>>25007316

>Implying that crazy stranger won't find you wherever you go.
>>
>>25007296

Victora Manse stares at you, bending over close to your form," That is... IF you survive... there are many things in this land.. Beyond the walls of this town.. beyond the lake... You have only seen the outside of this land, and I would throw you into the thick of it... Yes, all is forgiven should you return. I can only offer this option to you as there is an adequate Gargoyle to replace you here."
>>
Big choice.

I see one for learning your name.

>>25007296
A hypothetical question.

>>25007316
Missing the motherfuck'n boat.
>>
>>25007402
If we leave Molly here alone she'll probably eat the Mer. And maybe the wolves as well. Damnit. I want to go on this trip but I'm very worried about leaving Molly alone.

Maybe with Mason and the Priest watching over her. We gotta talk to all three of them though if we do choose exile.
>>
Lets go talk to Molly since that is an option.
>>
>>25007540

What will you speak to "her" about?
>>
>>25007339
it wont matter because we wont have the LOOT MAN we need to trade the monster loot for some gargoyle SWAG. fuck why tonight... i hold no hope for us pushing this back too tomorow but who knows...
>>
We want to talk to her about her belief that embracing the demon part of her is the best path. That she and Lady Manse is wrong in that regard. To go down a single path lies madness. Tell her what the Mason has told you. How long the typical gargoyle lasts. She needs to embrace not only the demon, but the fae and the primal. Tell her our experiances with the wendigo.

Then if we do go on this trip tell her of our beliefs and ask her to uphold them. The peaceful relations with the Mer. Our policy of talking first then fighting. It limits our growth but we will never be overwhelmed by those within.
>>
>>25007583
we can tell him where the corpses lay. Thats almost as good as delivering them to his doorstep if he can indeed pop up anywhere.

"Lady, you have been so merciful to give me this choice, could I ask one more thing, if it's not too much, that I may be allowed a single night to make my decision and recover myself. If you were to cast me out as I am now I wouldnt stand a chance, but If could recover then I could have a chance to survive, either way you get rid of me for good or have me return stronger than when I leave and be yours to do with as you see fit.

>Molly got big powerups and has, probably now supercharged, that black fire still

She is going to remove our wings.

what are you getting at?

>>25007583

Victora rises up, standing tall once more, even now as she looks down at you," What is the matter Gargoyle?"

"I stand to be worried that I may not be able to trade for new weapons."

Victora appears a touch confused," Trade? Have you been associating with the villagers?"

"No, there's a-." You hold your tongue as you realize,, this is something she has no knowledge of... something. that she's unaware of..

"Gargoyle?"

"No, Just some other creatures I had traded with before you instructed me otherwise..."

The woman huffs, anger coming through once more,"Quite the busybody, aren't you?"

"If... you would excuse me a moment, Lady Manse... I would like to have the counsel of those present before making my decision... Their fates also hang in the balance...Further, My Lady, you have been so merciful to give me this choice, could I ask one more thing, if it's not too much, that I may be allowed a single night to make my decision and recover myself. If you were to cast me out as I am now I wouldnt stand a chance, but If could recover then I could have a chance to survive, either way you get rid of me for good or have me return stronger than when I leave and be yours to do with as you see fit."

"Very well, I shall allow this. The rest of you, I shall be leaving for this night... I am certain that you will all miss me dearly... However it is almost time for my crumpets... and I need to bring War to the attention of my own court." Without further ado, Lady Manse exits through the front door, vanishing and taking all of that tension with her. . .

The humans, Clegane, Alice, and Marble come up to you, even as the new Gargoyle stares at you from the corner of the room.

You notice, up close that Alice and Marble have small, recently healed bite-marks on exposed parts of their flesh, the Pastor's own arm is bound in a fresh bandage... It's apparent that they are not unscathed from the attack, and that the Pastor healed them...
>>
>>25007798
Pastor, your charges might need you. Many were attacked this night and my own wounds will only need time.

Mason. If you could tell me just how bad of a risk it would be to learn the name I had as a human? While I'm guessing it means almost certain madness I do not wish to leave this town in the hands of a gargoyle who might at any time break because she has started down a path of madness.

>>25007652
Then this for Molly, I'm paraphrasing here obviously but theres a lot we've learned this first week of living.
>>
Also ask Alice what we can expect out in the wilds if we choose that path.
>>
ALL gargoyles go insane in about a year, supposedly... I posit they do not go insane so much as being taken over by the spirits within. Our "fae" component started as a human and then was transformed into fae, which is something that happens naturally to some human souls after death... or happens to any human that learns magic.

We had already demonstrated the power of having allies in inner domain who fight on our side. Lady manse says to become more demonic is the "solution" but if that was the case then other gargoyles wouldn't last only 1 year. Also that would allow her to bind us better.

We should focus less on eating powerful opponent and more on eating heroes and protectors of various groups in exchange for saving and protecting their people from some calamity or another and having them assist us in policing our inner domain.

This is something we COULD do in exile, the issue with that is:
1. Loss of wings
2. Molly being left entirely at the whims of Lady Manse.
>>
Third Option: Look at New Gargoyle and say "I'm sorry that I failed you Molly" and then sit back to watch the shitsplosion that is baby-gargoyle supercharged with demons going mad.
>>
>>25007870
if we were going that route we should have eaten her before even changing the demon into a gargoyle. (of course then we'd be facing the Tooth Fairy Queen without backup)
>>
>>25007868
it might also have to do with conflicting compulsions. Fae Mischief, Demonic Hunger. Primal instinct. All fighting for dominance... until the gargoyle breaks under the pressure. (You know, all the bad rolls we've luckily missed so far)
>>
We should choose exile and use this exile to grow. Molly will keep the townies safe while we master our selves (aka, gain a group of allies within us).

This "failure" was more of a random encounter gone really really bad. What could we have done?

I don't think we can save molly anymore. Before we leave on exile, on the off chance we could, we should inform her of what we learned about gargoyles as per >>25007868, including our inner domain, the ability to enter it to do battle, the balance of power (fae > daemon > primal) and the fact once you are in its like a cork coming loose and they can expand and fight each other for dominance so make sure you are ready before going inside as you may yet go insane.

She is stuffed full of demons right now, but they are there due to a manse summoning so they might obey manse rather then trying to completely subvert molly... but generally, suggest she get a balanced diet and pit fae vs demons.

we should share our info and advice on how to live longer. Explaining about inner domains, and so on... also we should join the battle raging inside us at the moment since there is the scylla and the duchess and IIRC some more recent additions that haven't been broken or bartered with yet.

>>25007895
we should have, this may yet come to pass if/when she goes out of control. At which point we break her up and let the demons loose while trying to reclaim only the "fae" component which is molly's now transformed soul.
>>
It dawns on you that there will be much healing to do... and that aside, you still have a decision that you must make, one that will require the counsel of those that you would count on as your friends, as well as charges...

That thought warms and saddens you at the same time, and you hear the voice of the Lady of Teeth within you laughing, she drinks upon your misery... The Wench...

"How many died in the attack?" You whisper.

None want to answer, yet Clegane is the one that does," Still counting... I healed most of the injured.. the ones I could find... I've never known a fae to be so aggressive and bold..."

Alice picks up," The Unseelie are very different.. and it may just as well be that their leader had a chip on her shoulder..."

An awkward silence follows, and you bring up, the greatest cause for concern.

"Well... She has given me two damning choices... To Learn my name... or face a trial pf an exile..."

Alice bites her lip, Marble speaks," Whatever you do, you must not learn your name, I... I... Gargoyles that learn their name.. They are not who they once were.. And yet they are... You very may well destroy yourself in trying to remember. . . And that's not to say that it would be your choice... The making of a Gargoyle separates the inherent evil and good in a person as Demon and Fae. . . Yet it only works when those two forces are already catalyzed by demons or the light of fae. . . To learn a name is to make those parts force a soul whole again... Among the Masons, we rarely see cases where a Gargoyle remains... a gargoyle... One force or the other takes over... Or the the Gargoyle dies... That's what y-" Marble silences herself and turns around. Not saying another word.

"I... Understand... thank you Marble... Perhaps if I make this choice... I'll be an exception.... Alice... If I take exile, I will lose my wings and be sent into the wilderness... Do you know... what lies out there?"
>>
>We won't have our pedestal thing in the wilderness
>No mana, no magic
We're mostly magic, the wild would be the death of us.
>>
>>25007975
we have two weapons now. Shadow Forge... and teeth.
>>
We'd also have to rely on stealth and avoiding the more powerful enemies a lot more then we do right now. No more flight. No more quick escapes. Good thing we went down the stealth tree by a bit.
>>
>>25007914
What happens if an aged or crippled hero joins us willingly then and we roll "negatively" and gain their mental traits? will we get "heroic" traits instead of negative traits? I bet we would.

>>25007975
We might find an alternative source of mana. And staying is death too, even if we survive the name there is the issue of lady manse's silly orders and being used as a shock trooper against unseeliegh with orders to consume. Also she is liable to stuff us full of demons as she did molly.

We should choose exile because its getting out from under her thumb... heck we can take a 3rd option of running away with our pedastal AND wings. We can carry the pedestal using pocket easily.

And then return when we are strong enough to take out lady manse and her demons.
>>
>>25008011
Oh, and if we do choose to escape we should warn the mermaids and gnomes about the new developments since molly will eat them all up.
>>
>>25007979
If we get our arms and legs stretched out a bit so that we're all spindly, that combined with the teeth would make for one creepy mofo.

But doesn't SF require mana to make things? I'd like to see what happens with the stranger. If we get something tomorrow.

>>25008022
Tell Alice to do that.

>>25008011
For some reason, I don't think we'd get far.
>>
>>25008022
I'm hoping we can convince Molly to honor our agreements... but you might be right.

>>25008034
NO mana cost is listed so I'm guessing it cost nothing.
>>
>>25008034
>For some reason, I don't think we'd get far.
Who is going to chase us down into the wilderness which we are not expected to survive?
>>
>>25008055
Manse / her goons / her ringbound demon goons.
>>
>>25008054
>I'm hoping we can convince Molly to honor our agreements
Lady manse gave us a standing order to eat all non humans and to break such agreements.

Molly is far more obedient to her and is stuffed full of demons which not only promote rage and hunger, but are bound to obey lady manse and are influencing her thoughts and actions.

Furthermore, if molly does honor such agreements for some reason then lady manse will have her destroyed for treason.
>>
>>25008068
1. They don't know where we are.
2. We are built to kill demons.
3. She is going to be fighting a war against unseeliegh fae
>>
>>25008070
doesn't mean we can't try, to do otherwise would mean going back on our word.
>>
Alice clasps her hands over her mouth gently as she thinks.... Removing them, she starts.

"Beyond this city, from what my mentors have told me, there are titans that sleep within the land, dragons that dwell within caverns, and worse things that lurk in the dark.. There are people there that embrace demons and consort with spirits.. however they could no longer be called 'Human'. I don'y know of what you'll find exactly but..."

Alice gives a hard swallow and shakes her head as tears begin to well up in her eyes," You heard Victora, she means to declare war upom the Unseelie. Fae law dictates that the Seelie will not become involved... Yet Fae law similarly dictates that should the Unseelie or Seelie be purged from the land, the remaining opposite must purge themselves as well. They are my friends far more than humans have been... I...I.. I need to rally the Seelie... I need to give them reasons to fight... I cannot let this witch and her demons destroy those I care for..." Alice steps away from the other people in the room, tears streaming down her face.
"I'm sorry, I- I'm sorry..."

Pastor Clegane clears his throat," Manse has decided to involve the nobility... and with that ring... she has all the means she needs to start a war... I have no doubt she will use it to convert our own people into demons, by force if she need to... Angel... I cannot abide by this woman... And I... as much as it pains me, understand when arrogant mistakes are made. My time as one of the men embracing demons and consorting with spirits within the wilderness... I hurt many good people that should live here now... I may have to return fully to those ways to stop further bloodhshed at the hands of the nobility..." The man clenches his fists until his knuckles go white.

The three before you have spoken their case... yet Marble seems neutral in the terms, aside from having you learn your name... It may be keen to speak with her in private.
>>
You know, if wings get torn off they regrow and we have dense marble which allows us to pull the wings into our body.
We could have marble assist us in a deception. Tear of a pair of wings without magically alter us so we don't regrow any more. Hide the new growing wings using dense marble.

Leave for lady manse our wings with a message of "I choose exile". And take our pedestal in pocket because she never said we will be giving it up only that we give up our wings.
>>
>>25008083
Fuckit. You're a doorknob chewer.

Even if we do get away, congrats. You've just voided the terms of the exile so even if we do come back, we'll just be killed then.
>>
>>25008119
oh fuck. I hadn't considered she might sacrifice our charges to fight her war. Alright time for the third option.

When she comes for us that night to hear our decision.... we kill her. During the day we talk to Scylla to see if we can't get her to ally.
>>
>>25008127
The idea is to come back strong enough to kill manse and make our own law genius.

>>25008119
Well fuck, this means running away is worse then I thought. The ideal solution is to kill manse now and claim the ring from her for ourselves. Using it to bind the demons within us for stability.
So, another third option
>>
So, our options thus far:
1. submit to exile; either straight up, or via deception as per
>>25008120
2. escape into exile, come back strong enough to kill manse yourself (problem, she would have converted all the nobility into demons under her control)
3. kill lady manse right the fuck now before she does any more damage, claim the ring for self. - best ending, but most risky. However, if we pocket our pedestal first then if we survive we could escape as per option 2.
>>
Oh, another idea... if the Unseelie fae are destroyed in the area then by fae law the Seelie (nice fae) must commit suicide. No law states they can't commit suicide via friendly gargoyle (us) who promises to put their power into use in making things right (eg, kill the lady responsible for the death, etc).
>>
>>25008215
I have a feeling they wouldn't go for that.
>>
>>25008155
We are not nearly powerful enough to accomplish this. She will set the other gargoyle against us and use the ring for demonic reinforcements.
>>
we eat the arm that holds the ring first obviously.
>>
>>25008221
Maybe not all of them but at least some might, especially if we make some deals ahead of time where we fight on their behalf. Or heck, we could just get in contact with seelie nobolity via alice and get a few fae ordered into us ahead of time to assist us in assassinating lady manse and stopping this
>>
>>25008237
Are we fast enough to do that give her influence over the demonic portion of our nature?
>>
>>25008237
Start out by taking the ring, or instagib her with lightening, or attack her in her sleep, or shadow teleport and slice off the hand with the ring. etc...

such an attempt, if fails, will make us a much higher priority for her retaliation compared to just running away at night with our wings intact btw
>>
At a sound, the four of you look over to the newborn gargoyle, as she's finally used her voice to bring attention to her take on the matter.

"I... I will protect this village... No matter... what you choose. It... it is mine. I care not if you learn your name and die or if you take exile. No more will die from monsters..." There seems to be a struggle within her for a moment before she speaks with more serenity," These demons within me... they are demons of war. I will not let them win.. The Faeries want to protect their home as well.. That woman is evil... Yet she is also powerful. . ."

Marble stares intently at the other Marble Gargoyle, her mind working through various thoughts," Child, you are broken. I'll fix you up... Unlike your friend, you don't have powers of regeneration."

The Gargoyle's voice whispers out gently, much like her previous manners," You have my thanks..."

Is there anything else you would like to say?
Any more opinions you would like to hear?

It seems that Alice will seek to rally the Fae, and the Pastor will seek to reconnect with his past.

You have the option of speaking with Marble in private after the other two leave, it seems that she's hiding something...

The New Gargoyle is on your side.. though she may be an uncertain ally given what she's been forced to do...

>[] What'll it be, Angel?
>>
The problem is doing nothing or accepting her judgement will see her turn our charges into demons. Like Molly. Furthermore it means genocide for all Fae in the area as well as strengthening all the demons in the area as well.
>>
>>25008278
My vote is we ask everyone to join us in a surprise attack on Lady Manse when she comes to hear our decision.
>>
>>25008278
Exile, pocket the pedestal at some point tonight.

Talk to Alice when the others go.
>>
>>25008307
seconded.
>>
>>25008295
AND she is going to subvert all the nobility into demons which she controls. In fact, by the next time we meet she will be God Empress of Humanity.

I think the only acceptable thing we can do is try to kill her. Explain to clenge, in private, that you would have chosen exile but if she intends to corrupt the nobility into demonhood bound to her as he suspects then the ONLY thing we can do is protect humanity FROM her.

Get alice to put us in contact with the highest ranking seelie fae in the area. We need some hero volunteers to join us within the internal collective to help make this assassination of manse work.
>>
By not picking name, we grant her even greater power over us. If we ever fight, she merely has to say our name and then we will be severely weakened while our soul is in turmoil. Even if it doesn't drive us insane, it will weaken us.

Take the name. When we recover, we end her.
>>
>>25008341

>>25008349
And so we have to sacrifice use of out hands. If that even works, we're a magic statue.

>>25008354
I don't get you. Why do you think she's weak enough for that to work? It's almost like you're just trying to get us killed at this point.
>>
>>25008334

Clegane meant that she's bringing them in on it.

Manse had spoken of bringing to attention War with the Unseelie to the rest of the nobility. and also expressed happiness that the attack was "Clearly" an act of aggression by the fae.

Thus implying there were prestanding agreements/ceasefires.
>>
>>25008278
Have we recovered any mana since the fight? Need to know before we proceed.
>>
>>25008362
just like with the Duchess of the Teeth, even if we are out matched we have no choice. She is planning on destroying our people. She dies... or we do defending them.

Plus three out of four of our allies just said they are going to fight her no matter what. Better at their side with a chance of victory then seeing them die seperately.

>>25008394
our pedistall is literaly on the other side of the room, we go to full just by standing on it

Go out in a blaze of glory that consumes everyone of notable power in this town right before a fae court sacks the town and exterminated its occupants? I'm, this is the option I actually prefer, I just want to point out that I usually get yelled at for suggesting this kind of stuff.

We trust clenge and he has NO DOUBT she will do that. At the time we did not have confirmation she was a threat to humanity. Now we do as per our most trusted ally and friend.

She said nothing about the pedestal.
>>
>>25008396
well alice wont have ralied the fae in 1 day, the priest wont have his old deamon magics bach in 1 day either proobably and aparently lady manse could summon a handful of lesser deamons while we were off fighting the duchess, in addition to literaly smashing our face with a fan, stoping our regeneration, and portals whenever she leaves the church and the fact that we cant even detect her with most of our senses besides actualy seeing her so we are super outclassed and jumping the gun on this before anyone is ready or anywhere near capable of pulling this off.
>>
Okay, guys.

You have until the next night to finalize the decision on what you'll be doing.

The time is now 1:00 A.M. after all that nonsense with the LoT and Lady Manse.

What's the next course of action?

You could always go back around the town and check for any monsters hanging around...

Or you could further discuss any of these matters with your friends.

Marble will only speak to you further when the two of you are alone.

Alice is determined to save the Seelie, she's not concerned with the loss of human life.

Clegane is prepared to get back to the root of his magic, as he has found need to.

Anything else you'd like to know from them?
Or is it fine to dismiss them and hear what Marble has to say?
>>
>>25008503
Can we ask them for a few moments of privacy to hear out marble? then we can continue making plans after hearing her out.
In fact, tell them you have much to discuss still so please don't leave yet.
>>
>>25008503
>Or is it fine to dismiss them and hear what Marble has to say?
Do that.

Right now I'm leaning towards learning our name, but taking the exile with the pedestal pocketed is acceptable.

The people saying "hurr oneshot manse" are really starting to get annoying.
>>
>>25008503
make sure alice isnt going to make it a full scale war on humanity and that its just manse and her soon to be deamon army.

Then dismis everyone and talk with marble.
>>
>>25008541
>hurr oneshot manse
Better then "hurr everyone we know or care about is going to fight manse and we are going to run away and let them die alone against her"?
>>
I seriously doubt we'll be able to one shot Manse. But we might be able to deny her the Ring of Solomon so she can't summon infinite demons.
>>
As for our next action ask for the others support in a surprise attack. Then dismiss them to talk to Mason.
>>
>>25008602
can we drop the whole suprise attack thing because we simply don't stand a chance.
>>
An idea occurs, while pastor clenge and alice rally their stuff, we could do the exile fake plan OR just take our former name and gather power with them for a concurrent attack on her later.

>>25008582
Yea, nobody seriously thinks we can reliably one shot kill her. I threw it out as as an admittedly stupid idea as one of several methods to prevent her from shouting our name mid combat at us. What is critically important is to snatch the ring from her, like by using TEETH to bite off her ring finger.

What worries me most is that as long as she has the ring she is probably gaining power faster then all of our allies combined. And even if she dies the humans she intends to demonify remain as demons.

If we could steal the ring from her and then escape, but not too far away. Just enough so that we could remain in contact with our allies in town and return for a concurrent attack against her later on when their forces are rallied.
>>
>>25008624
the thing is letting her build power is even more stupid.
>>
You look to Marble, and then glance at the other three in the room. You get the feeling that you'd really like to hear what Marble has to say...

And she won't be speaking without being alone with you.

"Alice, is it my understanding that you won't seek a full-scale war on humans?"

The young woman shakes her head even as more tears stream out,"I... I don't even know if I can convince them... But it would indeed be a war against those that threaten their lives... though it would need to be the Seelie, and not the Unseelie..." She starts to mumble at the end.

You had some concern that she might intend to declare war on humanity... You still aren't certain as to how exactly this will develop...

"Alice, Pastor... Gargoyle child... Could you please leave Marble and I alone for some moments? I'd like to speak with Marble..."

With some surprise, the two humans turn and look at Marble, who stares at you.

They leave for outside with the other Gargoyle, and only you and Marble are left within the church.

The woman grabs you by the now fully regenerated hand and takes you to your pedestal,"Come with me." She says, and not another word.

The two of you approach the pedestal, and Marble bids that you touch it... you comply and you feel mana flowing back into you.

"This... this is your pedestal. Within this, the ashes of your bones have been molded into the stone so that you may stabilize during the day... It recharges your mana and brings centering to the inner turmoil... You could say that it's a meditation... Upon the back, set in letters known only to the Masons... They are inscribed by their makers... It would say, 'Awaken Gargoyle, the night is dark.' "

The words... they feel familiar to you, right somehow...

Marble continues," I am the one... I am the one that inscribed your Pedestal. However... I am not your maker."

(End of Session for tonight, I'll see you guys again Saturday! should be 6p.m Pacific time... 2100 servertime.)
>>
Lady Manse is not an opponent we can take right now. We need allies. There are currently three major factions I am aware of: Demons, Fae and Primal. Lady Manse controls a giant army of demons to fight war against the Fae. Alice will try to rally the fae against them. This leaves the primals.

Converse with your primal residents. Lady Manse has made it clear she wants all creatures beholden to her or destroyed. Is there any way to rally the primal forces against her?
>>
I'll answer some questions in thread if you guys have them.

seconding the surprise attack. Its our best bet at protecting our people.

>>25008674
the problem with approaching the Primal is they aren't united in any matter. We'd have to go to them one by one.
>>
>>25008674

Funny you should mention them.

The Pastor said that he had once consorted with Demons and spirits.

Spirits haven't really been brought up yet...
>>
>>25008624
>can we drop the whole suprise attack thing
And what is the alternative? Lets say we choose exile.

We are now in a blasted no-mans land where no humans live. It is ruled by powerful fae, dragons, titans, and demons. While we try to survive in that land lady manse converts a fuckton of humans into demons and binds them to her will, including enough of the nobility to get herself crowned empress of mankind

Our allies all die futilely as they fight her.

We return from exile to fight all our allies and friends dead, lady manse empress, and major portions of humanity demonified and bound to serve her loyally.

If you think my prediction is in any way wrong, then please explain how.
>>
>>25008674
>>25008686
>Lady Manse is not an opponent we can take right now.
Who said anything about attacking her RIGHT NOW? We said surprise attack after some preparation. And I specifically suggested extra preparation. Preparation SHOULD be very short though because it is hilarious to assume that our allies will become stronger faster then she can bind major demons. And also if we kill her a month from now after she converted the nobility into demons and bound her to her will then humanity is still fucked.
>>
>>25008678
Could we tap into one of our "residents" or something along those lines, like bringing them into the cockpit and letting them co-pilot so to speak.

Yes, this saturday.

And as for allowing them to Co-pilot, I'd say that you better have reason to trust them. But, yes. you can give them some degree of control.

Also, as far as anyone knows, she's only consorted with one Major demon as of yet... and the Greater Wendigo mentioned that demons seek out the Seal of Solomon for their own purposes. . .
>>
>>25008791
>Also, as far as anyone knows, she's only consorted with one Major demon as of yet
True. but who knows what deals she made with him.
Also, do we take Clegane's word for her plans as per
>>25008459
>>
>>25008668
Have I mentioned that I really want to find a safe way to directly integrate that pedestal into ourself? Probably impossible, be we need a way to regen mana in a fight.
>>
>>25008768
When would you have us attack her, then? We need a bit more time for regen, and then we'd need to attack immediately before the sun comes up. Because if we don't, she'll just cut our wings off and dump us out in bumblefuck while we're immobile.

Learn time, jackass.
>>
Alternative Plan:

Warn the humans. Lady Manse has gained a major artefact with which she can control demons and summon armies of them. She tries to incite war against all creatures. She has managed to incite war against the unseelie. She is able to turn humans into demons and then control them. She will try to over-throw the human nation and turn its citizens into enslaved demons as to increase her army. She has to be stopped at all cost.

This in combination with warning the Seelie, trying to gain primal allies (I know that unlike the others they are not organized) and growing ever stronger could be enough to fight her.
>>
>>25008808

Truthfully, I meant to imply that the others among the human nobility are interested and altogether in on this plan.

An excuse to start a closed war and win untapped lands and resources?

Of course!

Then again... you can't truly know the ambitions of Lady Manse...

Or if they are even her own.

>>25008829

There may be a way...

I'm also surprised that no one has said anything about the last words in this cliffhanger...

As an aside, this thread has been archived.
>>
My guess? Our Maker died before we were completed (or we are our maker, he made us then put his soul into us and had primal and demonic spells ready to go off on a delayed timer, as a mage he probably was all set to go Fae afterwords I believe.)
>>
>>25008858
>When would you have us attack her, then?
2-3 days. Just enough time to rally some forces over several threads.

My favored plan for this is to go AWOL via the fake exile plan I posted earlier. Or just straight up desert for a couple of days while first informing our allies when we will be back to attack her with them. But we could also accept our name and stay "under her command" for those days.

Any longer and we risk her damaging humanity irreparably via conversion of rulers into demons.

>Because if we don't, she'll just cut our wings off and dump us out in bumblefuck while we're immobile.
Ah, you are assuming she lied when she said she will give us a day to think about it and that she in fact intends to only give us a few hours. And because of that you are assuming I want to attack her tonight despite explicitly stating I do not several times

>>25008869
That is a solid plan.

Goodnight guys.

I'll be checking this thread if it's still up tomorrow along with the discussion if there are any more questions.

It's been fun... and interesting... I know there's a lot going on right now, but I hope you gents come to a concise decision... Preferrably by the time Lady Manse returns.

So far we have:

>Fake exile, pretending to concede wings and taking along your pedestal.

>[] Learning your name and bearing the consequences of the backlash so that you'll have no need of leaving, allowing you to stay close to where Lady Manse would declare her war.

>[] Suicidal surprise attack: with your allies involved, you hope to harm or at least take the ring from lady Manse.

>[] Outright deserting: Blatantly running away to gather power and forces.

Excluding taking a true exile, as the fake exile makes that a moot point.

>Fake exile, pretending to concede wings and taking along your pedestal.

That method so far has been suggested by me as a method to gain 2-3 days to prepare for the suicidal surprise attack with allies (and whatever allies they can scrounge up).

Why not try to answer the question from
>>25008726

As for SM calling it suicidal... that is what the POSTERS are calling it. Both those who are against it AND those who are for it (who consider a suicide mission to be the lesser evil).

I like how the nay sayers have been going on and on about how retarded the "suicide attack" people are without proposing an alternative...

The first ever alternative plan to attacking her was proposed here
>>25008869
Much after all the "you guys are retards" calls started.
>>
>>25009033
The fake exile is retarded.

Manse will know something's up because the allure of the exile option is the possibility of coming back forgiven. If we leave ourself without having Manse do what she has planned, then that voids the coming back redemption part. She'll know something's up because we want to stay and protect the people.

We wouldn't just ditch them forever, and she knows it. This "fake exile" plan isn't even faking exile, it's faking running away forever.
>>
>>25009139
I was the one who proposed the "Alternative Plan". I agree that arguing against your plan without presenting any alternatives is idiotic. Nontheless I don't think your plan would work and my plan is more of a mid-term additional plan instead of a way to deal with the immediate problem.

I will write out some difficulties with your plan in the hopes of having you think of solutions:

1) We have no good way to contact Lady Manse in order to make our surprise attack. So far it was always her who visited us. We don't know when we will see her again after tomorrow.

2) I think there have been hints towards her being able to read (at least) surface thoughts. Knowing when we wanted to meet her was one of them. In our dealings with her her responses seemed to include knowledge of our thought processes.

3) We don't know how long it would take nor how hard it would be to return. It might very well take weeks after which it would be too late.

4) Similarly we don't know what changes our name would bring. Still, such a drastic change in psyche, mind, body and soul could be just the thing to counter any potential mind reading and manipulation on her part as well as make her think we are incapacitated so we can launch a surprise attack. No longer being a gargoyle might give her an excuse to destroy us though

5) I have forgotten what I wanted to write here.

Good ideas:
1) Fake wings. Only if Marble is really sure she can fool Manse.

2) Taking away the ring. It's pretty much her weak point. Still this is fighting one of the last boss monsters at lever 3.
>>
>>25009708
>3) We don't know how long it would take nor how hard it would be to return. It might very well take weeks after which it would be too late.
That assumes accepting real exile via magical teleportation which not a single person supported thus far.
>4) Similarly we don't know what changes our name would bring
Something to find out / deal with, we are currently talking to marble.
I also suggested we use magical silencing during the fight to prevent her from shouting our name.

And both of those don't exactly apply since my plan is to go AWOL for a few days. The who fake wings and a nice letter just a thin attempt to throw her off which might or might not work

>2) Taking away the ring. It's pretty much her weak point.
And if we DIE for this to happen then it will be an epic and suitable conclusion to this quest. The alternative is disastrous, and It would also tilt the balance between her and the other nobles.
>>
>>25009759
Ah yes I remember my fifth point.

5) Going AWOL will pretty much ruin any chances at ever making a surprise attack on Lady Manse. I don't think you appreciate just how powerful and skilled she is. She can probably literally sense Angel from a mile away. Compared to this Angel is unable to sense her when she is immediately in front of her. We have no idea where to find her either. Going AWOL is not possible as a set-up for a surprise attack.

>magical silencing
At the moment she will completely ignore any magic we attempt to use. If we need to fight her on the magic lever we have already lost. She is the kind of being who can give us 5 exp just because she feels like it. Compare this to the Duchess of Teeth who gave us a 10 exp trait upon consumption.
>>
>>25009708
>I was the one who proposed the "Alternative Plan"
Can't we incorporate that plan into the other discussed ideas?

Step 1: talk to all allies, explain what we want to do
Step 2: go AWOL, fake wing deception, or take name.
Step 3: Clegene and alice work their contacts, you meanwhile rally your own allies and forces, including warning the rest of humanity as per your alternative plan
Step 4: Assassination/ringtheft attempt with every ally and resource you can muster simultaneously.

The only point to really argue are:
A. which thing to do during step 2. (fake wings is my favorite)
B. how long to take for step 3. (2-3 days is my choice)
>>
>>25009806
>I don't think you appreciate just how powerful and skilled she is
I do, she is powerful and skilled enough that with the ring I am certain that within a month she will be empress of humanity with an army of demons.

>>25009806
>At the moment she will completely ignore any magic we attempt to use.
I seriously doubt she has mastered all forms of magic. There is primal, demonic, and fae magics and those do not intersect.
>>
>>25009806
And I am pretty sure the duchess of teeth was more powerful then her. Only reason the duchess lost is because of two gargoyles, one of which stuffed with freshly summoned demons.
>>
>>25009814
>Can't we incorporate that plan into the other discussed ideas?
That is what I meant with
>my plan is more of a mid-term additional plan

Really, as much as I dislike the other plan we don't have any alternatives other than doing nothing against her right now. Preparing for a war instead of trying to prevent it. Which could be better but feels bad.
>>
>>25009834
I seriously doubt it. However, this is something Pastor Clegane might know.

>>25009825
I doubt this as well. However, I think she has mastered Fae magic and would be able to just shut off all our magic through it. She also has some bound demons that would probably spring out as soon as she feels threatened. She has major fae and demonic magic on her side while we have a decent amount of primal. I think she will be able to counter any magic we have one way or another.
>>
>>25009885
Then we have no means of stopping her from shouting our name mid battle.
Which leaves the question of which is more harmful to us:
1. Hear name now, attack a few days later having hopefully recovered in those days.
2. Hear name being shouted mid combat and hope we don't fall apart mid battle due to it.
>>
>>25009908
I've been saying to hear the name now since it became an option. That way we don't have to worry about getting hit with it later, and we don't have to worry about her realizing something's up with the fake exile plan like I said in >>25009168
>>
>>25009922
I agree with this. Hearing the name now seems to be the most reasonable choice right now. This -of course- depends on what Marble has to say about it.

I probably wont be here for the beginning of next quest again so I hope this will count as one vote for that course of action.
>>
Err guys if we hear our name we will either a) go mad. b) become either demon or fae. There has been no indication we would recover as we are.
>>
>>25013841
We can't take the strain of a fight with Manse and learning our name at the same time, but maybe we can if we do them separately.

If we hear it now, then we have a chance of living through it. And then it can't be used on us during the fight. In addition, surviving remembering our name may be the key to incorporating our pedestal and getting a powerup. Although the possible powerup is just speculation that will likely be either confirmed or denied by Marble next thread.

And don't say that she won't use it. The only reason she wouldn't is if we're already so weak in comparison during the fight that she has no need. Any substantial damage or hit on her will result in her dropping the name on us. Since going for a one-shot is completely unrealistic, we need to hear our name and survive it before we engage Manse.

As for your (a) or (b) thing, that's not entirely right. There are more possibilities
>>25007948

>remain a gargoyle
Ok, it's rare. But it /might/ happen. Then again, we are planning to fight Manse. And winning that's not exactly a sure thing either.
>become demon or fae
Demon, yeah. Bad end. Fae, maybe not. Our mind is fae, and we've more or less tried to ignore our demonic side.
>go insane
Another bad end. Who knows, though. Maybe something interesting will come of it. probs not though
>Die
Definite bad end.
>>
>>25014247
We might be able to make ourself deaf for the duration of the fight. As far as I remember the only plan involving a direct fight against Lady Manse was to take the ring and flee. Or find an incredible weakness that would be able to let us one-shot her.

I am curious what the trade will have for us. There might be a one-use item powerful to seriously harm Lady Manse. This could make a direct fight feasible.
>>
>>25013841
I very much hope that we can somehow turn into a new kind of being. A true fusion of primal, fae and demon. That would be awesome.
>>
THere has been no hint that that would happen though. Only wild speculation.
>>
>>25014369
That merely shifts the gamble from prefight to during the fight. If Manse says it and then realizes somethigs up, she might just fae magic beam it right into our head.

And on top of that, if we use magic to do it, it may incur a constant mana drain on top of being deaf.

Awesome.

>>25014438
Link to a post so we know who you're talking to.
>>
I'm talking to anyone who thinks hearing our name might lead to a beneficial end. Mason has told us three things can happen.

1) very unlikely: we remain a gargoyle.
2) more likely we become either demon or fae. We lose our primary strength which is our ability to eat others and gain their powers as our own as well as being beholden to one of the Fae courts or worse... we become a a demon which can be directly controlled by Lady Manse. Either way we will no longer be Angel.
3) We die.

Oh
>That's what y-" Marble silences

Re-reading what she told us I'm guessing that was a 'you told me'. Yup that confirms it we were dying and made ourselves into a gargoyle some how.

Well no shit it's wild speculation. I even said it was in my post earlier. Just getting an outcome that isn't "you lose" would be awesome.

But just because learning our name is going to suck, that doesn't invalidate it's position as the best choice among what we have.
>>
>>25014247
We should find out how long it takes the name to act.
If it takes 3 days to start falling apart then hearing the name as we are killing her/running away with the ring is better then hearing the name now and decaying for 3 days.

>>25014369
maybe marble can do that.

>>25014468
>If Manse says it and then realizes somethigs up, she might just fae magic beam it right into our head.
1. She might not realize something is up.
2. beam it into our head? really?

>>25014631
Dying heroically to save mankind. I can live with it. We can then continue playing as another gargoyle
>>
>>25015037
>1. She might not realize something is up.
She's not stupid
>2. beam it into our head? really?
Fae magic is mind magic. She's really good at fae magic. So yeah, really.
>>
>>25015060
>She's not stupid
Do you know how long it takes to have such an effect? Is she going to read the facial expressions in our marble face?
>>
>>25015037
>2. beam it into our head? really?
Mind-magic is kind of her thing. Telepathy is not even high-level mind-magic if our own abilitiy-tree is any indication.

>Dying heroically
I'd really rather not. However, Angel will absolutely do this if necessary. I still don't think that fighting her directly is the most efficient way to stop her.

Idea for the fight: Fill ourself up with several lightning strikes while using the mana regeneration from our pedestal. Hide the primal magic with an item from the trade or an ability of Marble. When she touches us to break our wings we release several all lightning strikes at at once as a surprise attack at point-blank range.
>>
>>25015110
If Angel doesn't react to anything she says and hearing his name has no effect, assuming it's fast acting, do you really expect her to stand around wondering what's up with that?

And if we're attacking as a group, the whole not being able to hear thing will be a massive problem if we decide to make ourself deaf for the fight.

And no, none of us know for sure how long it takes for hearing our name to have an effect. We'll just have to ask Marble next thread, because what we decide to do depends heavily on that answer.

>>25015167
I really like this. Anybody else have thoughts? My only concern is that multiple lightning strikes is noticeable, so we might have to pocket the pedestal and fly around the forest doing it.
>>
>Now realizing that we could have bought eldritch with the xp instead of getting teeth.
Damn.
>>
>>25015293
we also could have gotten beast form for wolf allies, or a bunch of the other stuff we've been wanting. But teeth good enough to bite through magic rock is good enough for me.
>>
>>25015308
We just tend to throw lightning at everything in fights and eldritch would have really helped out our lightning throwing.
>>
>>25015329
we throw lightning at everything because its our only long range ability right now

(Though I suppose endless supply of Shadow Forge knives or a Shadow Forge crossbow would work too.)
>>
>>25015346
The SF rain would be pretty ballin, but I think lightning might be a bit more damaging to most things.
>>
>>25015167
>Idea for the fight: Fill ourself up with several lightning strikes while using the mana regeneration from our pedestal. Hide the primal magic with an item from the trade or an ability of Marble. I wonder just how much lightning we can jam in ourself. Maybe we could get even more copper added to us.
>>
Random speculative thought I wanted to share before I forgot (apologies if it's already been brought up). Our pedestal gives us a bonus to meditation (and unlimited mana, but I'm pretty sure that's irrelevant for this), which would probably give us an advantage if we went to our inner fae realm to deal with our new roomie (tooth-lady). If we end up deciding to hear our name, we should probably already have all components of our nature tightly controlled/allied, because they're all going to merge. I personally doubt we could take on Lady Manse, but if that's the decision we're going to need all the help we can get from our external allies and our internal prisoners.

Also, we should talk the new gargoyle threw the whole meditation/divided inner realms thing and give her a name. She saved us, I'm pretty sure that gives us the right to name her and having a name might help stabilize her nature.
>>
>>25015712

There is a limit to the mana that the pedestal gives you.

It's a recharging font, and it does indeed have an upper limit, though it is a few times higher than Angel's own mana capacity.

That said, it also only replenishes so much of its own mana every day.

Aside, yes. Being in contact with it allows for much grander and numerous spells to be cast... For instance, if you were to use the Fertile Land Blessing, Swamp terraform, Desecration, or Faerie Ring, the area of effect can be increased proportional to the mana...
>>
>>25015772
Thanks for the clarification. I'm actually more interested in whether it gives us something like a home field advantage modifier for meditation rolls (for instance when we interact with the beings traps inside of us)? I suppose we'd have to try it to find out thought...
>>
>>25015772
What about lightning? Someone else had the idea to supercharge ourself from the pedestal and fry Manse.
>>
>>25015772
Oh and can you answer as to whether or not we know when Manse is coming back?

Is she coming for our answer in the day or the next night?
>>
>>25015936

Lady Manse had stated that she would give Angel the rest of the night.

Angel does not know of when she's going to return, whether it's during the day or upon the next night.

>>25015904
This is implying that Manse will be the one to remove Angel's wings.

Lady Manse has only really told you what she thinks you need to know.
>>
>>25016069
>This is implying that Manse will be the one to remove Angel's wings.
Yea it is far more likely she will order marble to do so. I seriously doubt manse knows gargoyle craft.
>>
>>25016219
This was my assumption as well actually.
>>
>>25016069
Well fuck. I guess we could still shoot the lightning at her Emperor Palpatine style after we store some up.

Any chance you just go ahead and have us ask Marble how long it takes for the name learning madness to kick in? Or you gonna make us wait til Saturday.
>>
>>25016290

Yep, gonna make ya'll wait.

I'm surprised this is still running... I'd post some of this to the Discussion if i were you guys...

Thank god both of them weren't here.
>>

I appreciate all the perspectives presented.

I'd still rather not have any shitposting about any players. trippfags, namefags, or anons.

I've been reading the planning all morning, helps preparation. However, it's time to go to work... and I'm preeeetty sure this thread will be autosaging in a few more posts.

As I had mentioned, direct further discussion to the tgchan discuss thread.

It's been autosaging for something like 45 mins now.
>>
>>25016909
Now now, you can't blame Anon498 because even if the plan didn't seem reasonable it was the ONLY plan we had. If you don't want his plan you have to point out alternatives and as far as I have seen it only Anon498 and I have made any plans at all here.
And MrTT is not that bad. He is just a pedantic rules-lawyer with too much time on his hands. Those are only bad attributes because he doesn't know where that sort of attitude fits and where it doesn't. I prefer having him in any quest over many others who don't contribute anything worthwhile at all. While sometimes annoying he is willing to invest a lot of time in stuff that interests him. For example he keeps the wiki for this very quest up-to-date. His perspective while seldom showing the best course of action nonetheless points out stuff I would have otherwise not noticed. I dislike how nobody seems to be able to look past the annoying attitude and at the useful bits.

I've been advocating learning our name and recovering from it the entire time.

Every time I say so people, usually 498, respond with something along the lines of "we don't know how the process works". Even though that same problem applies to his plans.

And despite that, I shouldn't have to present alternative plans to point out the major flaws in someone else's plans.
>>
>>25017269
>and recovering from it the entire time.
erm, trying to recover from it would be more apt.
>>
And all these plans don't mean shit yet because whenever we hear what Marble has to say 99% chance we just change them anyway.
>>
>>25017269
Of course you don't need to. We do need some kind of plan though to deal with Lady Manse. There had been many who wanted to stop her but only one who thought of a plan. In this case just following along with her punishment is of course an option but I think many don't want that.

>>25017340
There are only three outcomes of that. If she thinks there is a good chance of surviving it should learn it sooner rather then later. If she thinks it's straight suicide we will obviously not do it. If she has no plan (most likely outcome) we will have to try it sooner or later anyways. Can't run away from our plot-relevant past forever, y'know?
>>
>>25017138
Different guy here, but Anon498 is really bugging me with his whole "we have to die here for glory" thing he's doing. It's not like he wants to even end the quest, because he seems to think we'll be playing as Mollygoyle afterwards. He seems to care more about getting his way with this plan more than he does about living through this.
>>
>>25017411
>If she thinks it's straight suicide we will obviously not do it.
Not what I was referring to.

We need to know how long after hearing our name it will take for the insanity / soul turmoil to start.

If it's instant, we need to either deafen ourself for the fight or we need to pick the hear our name option to get it out of the way. Both have their obvious disadvantages, and both are gambles. I prefer to deal with it before the fight and just hear our name.

If it's not instant, then we can do the battle without needing to deafen ourself or learn our name beforehand. She might not even drop it on us except in the case of a death throes fuck-you.

If it's instant, we pretty much need to take the hear our name option if we want to fight her at any point in the future.
>>
>>25017446
The fuck I do.
I don't WANT to die and I don't give a damn about glory. I also don't give a shit about "getting my way", I know my plan isn't the best but nobody came up with any alternatives.

Letting her demonify a whole bunch of humans as pastor clenge explicitly stated he is CERTAIN she is going to do is unacceptable for our character.

The only other two plans mentioned are "hear name now" and "get the other human lords against her". The latter I definitely support and its author explicitly stated its something to do as an "extra". The former depends on what marble has to say and doesn't in any way get us closer to stopping her, merely gives us an advantage when we DO fight her. And I explicitly listed it as one of the viable "step 2" options as per:
>>25009814
>>
>>25017446
Dying for our charges is completely within the bounds of Angel's personality. From his perspective attempting a surprise attack to weaken her before she becomes to powerful for any of us to fight was the best option from the perspective of Angel.

You have not done a good job at convincing him of other options. In fact you wouldn't have convinced me had I not already preferred to make the war go in our favour instead of preventing it. I'm totally ok with Angel sacrificing himself if it is the most reasonable course for him to take. I just think that we have not fully utilized all our resources and options yet.

>>25017551
We would need to shield ourself against telepathy as well. Besides I think our attack can only work if we manage to get the drop on her in the fight. If we don't land a solid hit with a huge amount of force (like the supercharging idea) we can forget fighting her altogether.
>>
>>25017621
>We would need to shield ourself against telepathy as well.
I was the guy that brought that up as a flaw of the deafening. It's one of the reasons I'd rather just hear the name first.
>>
>>25017610
Oh, and a third plan mentioned was the "lightening supercharge"
1. I support it
2. It isn't an alternative plan, it is a combat tactic for better executing the only plan we have currently.
>>
>>25017610
>I'm the most humble!
Has anyone ever let you know that you're very unpleasant to interact with?
>>
>>25017770
Wait. At this point what do you mean by "the plan"?

Your fake exile thing or fighting Manse?

Because I've been in agreement over fighting Manse, I just think the fake exile will not work.
>>
I'll try to sum up what we can do. If I forget anything, please remind me of it.

1) Don't try to stop Lady Manse yet. Hope that not all is lost. Rally forces for the upcoming war. Find a way to protect the village against being demonified.
2) Hope that Alice manages to get the Courts on her side quickly enough to help us fight Lady Manse. Fight her with the Court's help.
3) Try to find out some way to remove the ring from Lady Manse. The trade might help.
4) Forcefully remove the ring. Our new teeth are probably powerful enough to bite through her current magic protections. She doesn't know of them yet. Requires: A way to either stun or harm her enough to bite her hand and escape afterwards. Ideas for this: Supercharging + Finding a way to touch her + Concealing our charge with an item; Buying an item to escape after the attack;
5) Suicide attack with all our allies. With luck we might be able to land a few good blows if she underestimates us.
>>
>>25017814
Fighting manse.
Some people keep on insisting that fighting her is 100% sure suicide and that we should accept real exile while she kills all our allies and become demon empress of mankind.
As per >>25017446
>>
>>25017772
Are you a troll or just an idiot? Please stop it regardless. Your unproductive and vitriolic conduct is most unpleasant.
>>
>>25017865
>4...
Idea, how about run some copper threads through our teeth? that way we can deliver the supercharged lightening via the bite of doom.
>>
I'm pretty much against any plan that will give Lady Manse time to enact demonic conversions on our people. So I support either 3) Remove the ring by stealth, 4) Surprise attack on the ring hand. 5) Surprise attack with hopes of killing her.

If we do 4 we shouldn't have Childe or anyone else help us. She will blame us entirely and hopefully we can escape with out wings and our platform.
>>
>>25017934
May weaken the teeth.
>>
>>25017961
fair point.
>>
>>25017865
We can of course do some additional stuff to better our chances:

a) Gather allies. Lady Manse is intend on harming humans, fae, demonkind and probably primals as well. The black gargoyle is suicidal and would might help us fight her in a last battle. The Nymph family might have a way of helping us. They can survive out of the water. We could go with Alice to implore of the fae to help us.

b) Eat like you have never eaten before. We need power. Lots of it and quick. There are hordes of fae, we know where a gnome tribe and a nymph family live. There are likely primals somewhere as well.
>>
>>25018114
It's kinda ironic that doing b would make a much harder.
>>
>>25018142
While I don't see how that is ironic I agree that eating the Nymph family would make it harder for them to help us in battle. Same for the others.
>>
>>25018114
as the gnomes and mer have stated they would be peaceful I think we'd need to target hostile or at least human-unfriendly beings.
>>
>>25018114
That shithole Manse plans on exiling us to if we pick that option has tons of big juicy souls to munch on.

How much xp you think we can get for a dragon?
>>
>>25018220
we'd have to catch a dragon sleeping and half dead in order to kill one. We can barely take on an upstart noble with a major artifact.
>>
>>25018192
Don't know where to find them in suitable numbers. This is a "We have no other way of saving our charges and turn evil." kind of approach. If you know hideouts where to find a couple dozen hostile denizens of the wild I'm all ears.

>>25018220
Depends on how good we are at digesting powerful beings at that moment. Anything from "nothing, the dragon-souls takes over" to "a shit-ton of them" I would guess.
>>
>>25018255
>If you know hideouts where to find a couple dozen hostile denizens of the wild I'm all ears.
That shithole Manse selected for exile. Guaranteed hostility.

Or just wander around Hearthson. We've been tripping over baddies every night since we were sculpted.
>>
We could ask Alice if there are any Fae or Primal renegades no one would mind dying. I think going after allies is a bad idea.
>>
>>25018220
I bet a dragon is going to be HARDER to kill then lady manse.
And we would be facing it alone and wingless and maybe manaless.
>>
>>25018458
Getting willing allies to join the collective are the only way to maintain sanity.
Crippled old warriors, or someone who is strong of will but weak of power could greatly assist us in maintaining inner peace.
>>
>>25018475
I'm sure there's something out there that we can kill, even if the dragon is pushing it.
>>
>>25018493
ya where exactly are we going to find those?
>>
>>25018500
Indeed. What I see here are many nice mid- to long-term-plans. Fighting Lady Manse is short-term. I do hope, by the by, that someone will post the options collected in this thread at the beginning of the next thread. I would do it myself but I intend to be asleep at that time.
>>
>>25018493
To clarify I am against murdering the mermaids. If we murder them they are no longer willing allies but just another enemy we must contain.

>>25018500
That is more of a long term plan, the idea is to limit our consumption until we do...
In the short term the only possible source of such volunteers is the Seele fae since they are in danger here.
>>
>>25018532
Too busy watching Blood Raining Night.
>>
>>25018545
The Merfolk might have some sort of long-distance communal spell to aid us. Or a cool item. Or some might even come with us and fight directly if we convince them of how dire the situation is.

Our Troll might know of where to look for powerful Primals should we wish to ask them for aid.
