You courteously bid the Earl Blackford farewell, the deal for your slaves struck, smiling carefully and trying not to break into a full-on grin. The dear Earl is practically leaving without his shirt; he has signed over title of his air yard in Mark in exchange for a rabble of gutter thugs collected from the streets of Eyesocket.

You hold your composure until he recedes entirely from view, and only then do you allow a sly, infectious smile to spread across your childlike face.

You can't wait to see what Blackford's signed over to you…

> Will you inspect your new purchase immediately, or is there something else you would like to do?
> I recommend that you look over the Holdings and Servants section of Isabella's character sheet to refresh yourself.

You are Isabella Katarina Markova, twelfth of the line of Carmilla, thirteen generations from Dracula, the First. This places you with enough blood and power to make you a minor noble in Shadescast, the city of the vampires, and possess your own castle- which does not necessarily have sensible geometry, and which is not always in the same place. Though your physical appearance is that of a young girl, you are actually three and a half centuries old.

You spend your time responding to requests from other vampires for lore, and holding tea parties and other social events, both with humans and vampires. On occasion, you indulge in adding one or two of them to your collection of porcelain dolls...

Recently, you were attacked by a human vampire hunter who managed to temporarily kill you. Upon rising from death, you captured him and left him in the tender hands of your doll collection... but first he managed to majorly deface your castle and burn a portion of your library, including some hard-to-replace texts. Signs point to him having been hired by a rival vampire... and one who was here, and managed to take one of your dolls.

Currently, you are working to turn the mayor of Mark into your soft, gooey servant. The process will take one or two weeks more. You also intend to invest in the airship trade- a process speeded considerably when the chattel you acquired to raise money were vastly overvalued by a vampiric noble by the name of Blackford. As a result, you own his airship yards in Mark, and now only need to take possession of it formally.

What's our hunger at? Because if it's getting high we may wish to snack some on some Servants before we go.

And it may be worthwhile to check in on Bradley, see how the torture is going with the Dolls, and see if Rose is learning from watching the experience as if I remember correctly we had her go with the dolls to learn.

>Currently you are feeling decently full, though not completely sated.
>Hunger rises over time and with exertion. As it rises, it will test against your discipline. Not managing your hunger by feeding may result in you attacking someone as your instincts take over.
>>
>>25035965
That's getting not too high, but slightly high, we've got lots of Servants and other free sources of blood around, and if we ever need to break out the blood magic we'll probably get a lot of Hunger very quickly, I can't think of any reason not to have a quick bite.
>>
>>25035903
It's been roughly two days of game time since the start, so you're at 33 hunger.
Hunger tests begin at 50 hunger, and you gain three for each day you don't feed. So if you don't do anything too strenouous you won't really HAVE to feed until five days from now.
>>
>>25035965
This has been updated now for daily hunger since the start of the game, so we're at 33.
>>
Was Thugly among the sold?
>>
>>25036057
That's up to you to determine. You'll get the same deal either way.
>>
>>25036069
But I thought the contract was completed already?

iirc he was in the doll room. I kinda wanted to experiment with armour-ifying him to be a better guard. Along with mind control so he doesn't go and shove at us.
>>
>>25036069
I'd prefer to keep Bradley, sure he's an idiot, but the Doll's torture ought to teach him some, and once we spend a bit of time getting him under our thumb he'll be as obedient as can be.

Not the cleverest but rather big and strong, and we can warp his flesh to make him into a supernatural heavily armored brute who can take care of the heavy lifting for us, things like carrying heavy objects, moving our luggage, and squishing people's heads.
>>
>>25036100
The contract is complete, but you can retroactively have it be completed one way or the other.

I assumed you wanted to keep Slab (You think you called him James, but really he's just so huge that his name of Slab is hard to shake.), but you can sell him if you want to.
>>
>>25036117
Another upside: He's quite large. You don't doubt he has quite a lot of blood in him and would recover quickly from feeding.
>>
>>25036136
I'm going to refer to him as Thugly in all my posts. You can call him whatever in quest.

But I'd like to keep him.
>>
>>25036136
We changed his name to Bradley.
>>
>>25036151
Excellent, I suggested earlier we ought to check in on his torture and see if Rose is learning well from watching the spectacle.

Us telling him to provide us with a meal would be a good way of confirming some repentance from him.
>>
>>25035994
You can drain a total of 25 blood points from your household staff per week before it starts to have negative effects on them. This means that as long as you are in your castle, you regain 4 Hunger per week so long as you take the time to feed (though your short-term hunger may vary.)
>>
>>25036158
Bradley, James, Slab, whatever. The man's a hunk of meat, and he'll answer to "Fido" if you want.

(Thanks for the reminder. ^_^)
>>

>>

>>
>>25036489

I think you're thinking of the vampire hunter.
>>
>>25036518
Thugly tried to run away and we had the dolls take him away for a working over after we caught him.
>>
>>25036523

When did that happen?
>>
>>25036480
>>25036197
Alright then, let's have a snack.
>>
>>25036544
We had a stupid bad roll when we had to send a servant to go do something. For some reason we didn't notice that it was the big fucker we just kidnapped and not a regular servant,
>>
>>25036523
So we lick his open wounds as a small snack, then move on to other things. Like meeting our new lawyer and officially taking possession of our airship yards,or experiment with making toy soldiers.
>>
>>25036560

Oh, so that's what that was.

Well let's feed on him anyway.
>>
>>25036558
Yay, snack time.

First we ask him if he learned his lesson, if he will ever disobey his Mistress again. Make sure he understands that all this pain was his own fault, he brought it on himself.

Then lick up the blood from various wounds he has, before biting him to get some more.
>>
>>25036597
He's still getting experimented on. If the dolls took his teeth, we can grow him some new metal ones to start off our iron soldiers experiments.
>>
>>25036614
Well we did tell the Dolls to avoid being too drastic, doing things that are irreversible, or making him useless to us. I'm guessing they've left the teeth alone, just made him feel a lot of pain.
>>
>>25036640
Irreversible has a different meaning when you possess fleshtwisting blood magic.
>>
>>25036655
Well, they don't. But their master does.
>>
>>25036597

You're distracted from your line of thought as your stomach rumbles. Blood would be nice right now… and Bradley needs an object lesson in why you don't run away from a vampire. You take the corridor that will lead you to the dollhouse.

Bradley lies slumped against the wall of the dollhouse; one of the dolls is attempting to get him to drink some tea, but he has apparently been refusing, as most of his body is covered with it as well. Though the doll's porcelain face has little expression, you get the feeling it's pouting.

You watch as it pinches Bradley's nose, forcing him to gasp for air, and then gets him to drink from the delicate, porcelain cup… Which it then refills from the tea that drips off the hem of Bradley's rough shirt, which has become badly torn.

You smile at the doll.

"Tea, please?"

It nods, and passes you the cup. You're surprised; this is actually one of your good teacups. The doll must have taken it from the kitchen staff. Normally the dolls use shards of bone taken from their toys...

You sip, and the wonderful taste of freshly-shed blood floods your mouth. It's immensely satisfying after the long few days you've had…

You look over to the opposite corner, where the Hunter lies in a comatose heap. The dolls seem to have painted his nails , and are starting to do his makeup. Tea is everywhere, and the sight and smell only stimulates your hunger further.

> You regain 5 Hunger from the cup of tea.
> You may choose to cease feeding here, or take one of the following options:
> Sip lightly: Drain 1d10 blood from Bradley. Unlikely to harm him.
> Sip deeply: Drain 2d10 blood from Bradley. Unlikely to permanently harm him.
> Drink lightly: Drain 3d10 blood from Bradley. Likely to temporarily harm him.
> Drink deeply: Drain 4d10 blood from Bradley. Likely to permanently harm or kill him.
> Eat him: Regain all hunger. Guaranteed to kill the person fed upon.

> If you want to take a closer look at anything feel free.

We don't want to break our new toy. See if he's able to talk first. If he can talk ask him if he regrets being disobedient, if he regrets trying to leave us, if he regrets bringing this pain upon himself. Then we can tell him that the first step he must take for forgiveness is to offer us his blood, and then we lightly drain him.

And after that we can check on the Hunter, see how he's been doing.

I do.

Then inspect him to see the damage. "You shouldn't have run like that."

Pretty much. Although I'm kinda wondering if we should just get actual bears for that instead.

Not far off from what I was thinking, plus there's no reson he couldn't have a suit of armor for guards duties or a tuxedo for formal occasions. Just felt like a simple suit of armor doesn't really fit with the image I have of Isabella's toy collection.

We should tell one of our older servants to take the newbies' measurements so we can make them fitted work attire. The hunter can be dressed by the dolls at their choosing, but I'd like a featureless porcelain mask to be made for him if they intend to keep cutting his face off.

You lean over Bradley, waving away the doll.

"So, Bradley. Have you learned your lesson."
"Yes! Yes, yes, yes, oh god, get me away from these things!"

"Really. Say that again."
"GET ME AWAY FROM THESE THIN-Gggk!"

Your sharpened fingernails neatly pierce his tongue, and you listen, amused, as he struggles to cry out.

"One. I am the Lady Markova. You will remember this and address me appropriately at all times. Two. These are my dolls. My dolls are beautiful. The next time you insult them, I will allow them to make their displeasure with you known personally. Do you understand? Nod."

Carefully and slowly, Bradley nods, the slight motion sending shocks of pain up his tongue and into his mouth.

"Have you learnt your lesson?"

Bradley nods once again, wincing again at the small motion as you keep your grip on his pierced tongue.

"Good. Now, give me your wrist."

The doll standing by the wall releases one manacle, and Bradley meekly extends his arm towards you. Releasing his tongue, you take it with both hands, and bite into it while making direct eye contact with Bradley, your hypnotic stare forcing him to not look away. However, the blood you drain is relatively little- this is not for your hunger, but to send a message to the slab of meat that thought it could run away from your service.

Licking your lips, you step up and away. Not a drop of blood is spilled from your shallow drink- a small testament to the control you have over your hunger.

> Continued
>>
>>25037378

Leaving Bradley to try and cry out, you approach the Hunter and make a show of inspecting him. The dolls have ripped away the skin of his face, and a pair of empty sockets stare back at you from his face. He appears to be unconscious, but the slight rise and fall of his horribly distended chest assures you that he's still alive.

As you begin to turn away, a flash of light catches your eye, and you take a moment to lift one of his hands- to be greeted by a surprising sight. It would appear your dolls have extracted the luckless hunter's fingernails and replaced them with wickedly long, sharp pieces of porcelain.

You didn’t think any of them had any talent for fleshcraft, but you suppose some of the older dolls might have learnt some of the basics from seeing it practiced over the years on many, many prisoners, and of course all of them would have been exposed to it in their making…

Hmm, I don't like the Hunter having anything usable as a weapon. So if the dolls haven't already taken care of it, break his fingers. Alternatively make sure his new finger nails are blunted and look very fashionable.

Not sure what to do with the doll yet. Do we need a flesh crafting assistant for any thing, or will that just create an unnecessary vulnerability point at home?

>Bradley what do?
If we havent implanted a "no escaping" command in him yet, do so. Then send him to our new medic to get patched up.
>>
>>25037391
Congratulate the doll that did it, praise it, but make sure to tell it to be careful about doing major alterations without proper preparation.

For Bradley, use a bit of coercion and suggestion in our voice.

"For your own sake I hope you have properly learned your lesson and will not test my patience any further.

Should you be properly obedient to my whims and desires your life in my service shall not be unpleasant, should you act out, I don't suppose I need tell you what will happen to you.

Be a good possession Bradley and know your place. As you have learned your lesson from this I will release you and give you time to recover so you may serve me ably. If you displease me your time here will become a pleasant memory compared to what comes next."

Having someone who can fleshcraft that isn't us will allow fleshcrafting to happen 'in the background' rather than forcing us to be personally involved in every case of it.

If you encourage it, the dolls will be able to do larger things and will experiment more. Of course, that might lead to its own problems... But the dolls are expert torturers and are unlikely to kill anyone.

Note that you still have some dregs left over from the slaves you took from Eyesocket, who might be used as raw materials.

Bradley's eyes follow you as you walk across the room, desperate hope filling them with intensity. It's amusing to walk in circles, it makes him get dizzy… or maybe that's just the blood loss. In any case, you do feel that he's learnt his lesson; so you direct the dolls to release him from the wall.

As he collapses at your daintily-shoed feet, you smile down at him.

"Bradley. Do not test my patience further. You will be treated well if you show that you deserve to be treated well. Do not, and you will remember this time as a happy dream. Know that your place is where you are now; a cowed dog, curling at my feet. I merely allow you something more because you are useful to me."

He nods vigourously, and kisses your red shoes. You smile, and kick him lightly, just enough to make his head spin.

"Yes, yes, I am too good to you. Now stop groveling and have yourself repaired. I have a medic on staff; find her nearby. She will treat your wounds. If you avoid talking, you might even be able to speak in a few weeks."

With that, you walk away, clapping your hands. A doll obediently appears by your side.

"Ask the doll that gave the hunter his new fingernails to come to my chambers. I have something for it to play with."

A few minutes later, you turn over a rare tome on fleshcrafting to the dolls for them to play with, with admonishments to ensure its safety.

Have the dolls focus on making effective, though perhaps crude, monsters/guards. Work on integrating metal and other such materials as a structural and reinforcing element as well as integrated weaponry.

I can't think of anything else we need to take care of before we go.

Wear the cute and innocent outfit that we often wear, but make sure the shoes are sturdy and good for walking and that the dress isn't too long as we don't want to drag it through the dirt, make sure that we take a parasol or umbrella with us depending on if it's merely overcast or raining.

Given that Mark is usually overcast and rainy we should be okay from the sun.
>>
>>25038389
Try to see if they can craft weapons; claws, fangs, whatever. We can use them to create guards.
Let's go to the shipyards now, wearing a cutesy outfit - it's a public outing, so best to maintain our childish persona, especially since it should bear the least risk of suspicion.

Depends if we want a signal sent or not. Right now I'd rather avoid notice (no assassinations), but that will probably change once we fully have the mayor under our thumb if we don't have time to establish non-obvious mental enslavement of mortal business rivals and/or opposition organizers.
>>
>>25038769
Never hurts to have options. And besides, we could use stealth hobos to keep tabs on our holdings and report problems. As our influence grows we'll need new ways of keeping up with everything.
>>
>>25038769
Definitely seconding trying to mind control the labor organizers.

If we can get fantasy Marx under our control, it could give us a valuable advantage. A dissident movement could go a long way towards distracting the authorities from whatever unsavory schemes we might end up working on.

The actual outfit is a black and red dress, fascinator and opera-glove affair.

The other styles are:
Dark and Elegant (+5 Eeriness, +5 Acumen, -5 Celerity)
Wise and Learned (+5 Discipline, +5 Acumen, -5 Eeriness)
Occult and Mysterious (+5 Eeriness, +5 Discipline, -5 Masquerade)

We can have better clothes tailored for us, of course, which will cost Holdings but give larger bonuses.

I like this actually. Nondescript hobos we've modified for stealth, strength, speed and maybe a hidden internal weapons suite (retractable bone claws/knives, neurotoxin venom, that sort of thing) to act as our eyes and ears. Though I'd prefer they kidnap anyone we take an active interest in rather than act primarily as assassins, though I'm sure they will be utilized as such from time to time.

>>25039299
Okay, our creations from this sort of venture will fall into two major categories, passable as human, and completely impassible.

Of the human ones there are two basic things I want to focus on for now. The first being men with enhanced muscles, metal reinforced bones, redundant organs so they can keep on trucking after getting hit, that sort of thing stuff integrated into suits of full plate and given weapons. We can upgrade the fullplate with magic/technology later. They can hide in plain sight, come outside with us, and not be seen as more than an oddity.

The second would be assassins, keep the basic human shape but focus on flexibility, integrated weaponry like claws, sharp nails, hiding needles and stabbing implements down their throat, speed, agility, not making much noise, and enhanced senses. Camouflage would also be good. They'd be infiltrators, spys, and killers. After all we did they might not look completely human at a close look, but keep them looking roughly right, put them in a robe or bandages, and we're good. Could implant things like cat eyes, wolf senses of smell, that sort of thing for the senses.

For not passing as human we have a lot more options. We could always use some flesh beast of death to sic on people, not necessarily the most intelligent, but it'd smash good.
>>
>>25039504
Oh I understood. Personally I'm not that interested in using the servant ability until we can soul rip people like the Empire's been doing. Actually, we should see if extracting someone's soul as a mechanism of control without overt mental influence is a thing in this setting, I like watching unwilling minions squirm.
>>
>>25039556
You think the pariah's finger swords is a good design for the assassin type creations?
>>
>>25039556
Hmm, we should probably start with the most human looking ones first, then automate them to acquire more subjects for our research. That should keep the projects moving relatively quickly.
>>
Re: the dolls learning fleshcrafting

That's pretty impressive learning a horrible magic craft just from watching it be done to others. Be sure to allow the dolls that accomplish such tasks the right to do some small level of accessorizing (if only to instantly tell them apart from the others. Alpha dolls, if you would)

Additionally, this is good in another way. If we can teach the dolls to make a very specific set of changes, we could, theoretically with the proper materials (hoboflesh and metal), mass produce a monster army. That'd be fucking radical. I doubt other vamps have mass produced monsters at this point.
>>
>>25039613
Given that I have no idea what those are I can't really say.
>>
>>25039711
We really should ensue our control over all the dolls. The last thing we need is them developing freewill (probably that rival vampire's doing) and flesh rafting us or sending an army of monsters after us... If we're going to mass produce monsters, make sure we have enough storage area and food for them, or that we have a buyer of we want to turn a quick profit.

>>
>>25039833
If they've been with us for years on years, I'd be more worried about what we've done wrong to not have total loyalty of psychologically mindraped and tortured subjects that became dolls. Still, the other two points are very good. We really do need to find that fucker that took one of our dolls, especially if they are an older doll.

>>
>>25040346
Well we want them to be able to regenerate and be absurdly durable. Strong legs with claws both for speedy movement and ripping and tearing things. Integrated bioweaponry made of metal if possible, it'd work well with them.

We want all of the core things needed for its survival, like hearts, lungs, yadda yadda, protected under a lot of layers so it's hard to hit them, we want strong vasoconstrictors throughout it so that if it gets cut open it can quickly staunch the flow of blood and just keep going, redundant muscle and organ systems.
>>
>>25040460

You tell the doll to see what it can do via grafting metal to its subjects- Some from of assassin or guard, perhaps? You emphasize that it should try and experiment in order to learn, and tell it to use the hobos from the basement as it wishes. Hopefully it'll have something interesting for you when you come back from the airship yards...

It nods and steps away through the twisting corridors, vanishing almost immediately with the book you entrusted to it carefully cradled in its arms.

Looking in the mirror, you decide that your current outfit is suitable for inspection of the air yard- though you do remember to pick up a sakura-print parasol as you step from your chambers to keep away the rarely-seen sun of Mark.

As you step out onto the overcast streets of Mark, you feel the unwelcome touch of the sun on your skin- but the constant cloud and the protection of your parasol are enough to make the unpleasant throbbing sensation bearable. Your servants have already prepared a coach for you; its protective black-lacquered walls make it much more comfortable than the street outside.

You knock on the top of the coach, and say…

>"To the airship yard! I wish to see my new holdings."
>"To the dressmaker's! I wish to have a new set of clothing tailored to impress my new servants with."

Remember, this is the type of outfit we wore with the mayor, we want to keep our image in Mark straight.
>>
>>25040733
Sorry I've been swapping back and forth between threads.

It depends on how we want to play it I suppose. If we claimed to be young and naive we could shunt a lot of the blame for unpopular decisions onto general management, but we wouldn't be able to assume direct control of activities.

This is correct. You're still clearly a noble child; the impression you are giving is one of niavety and innocence. This means that 1: People are less likely to attribute problems to you (masquerade) and when you act weird people find it more unsettling (eeriness.)

However, it's hard for anyone to take you seriously as a threat when you're dressed like this. (- ferocity.)
>>
>>25040516
"To the airship yard! I wish to see my new holdings."
The coachman cracks the reins and the iron wheels of the carriage crack against the cobblestones of the street as it accelerates to full speed, the team of horses at the front straining against their harness. Your coachman knows how you value speed…

A appreciably short time later, you alight at the airwrights' yard, your cherry-red shoes settling comfortably into the dirt. It's nice to occasionally mingle with the commoners… so long as they remember your place. The sun is uncomfortably hot here, but bearable.

Now, where to first…

> Observe the workers as they go about their business.
> Find the foreman's office to show him your deeds and have the area signed over to you officially.
> Speak to the workers.
> Look for the airwrights who design the ships and observe their designs.
> Other?
>>
>>25040806
We're too adorable to revolt against.

And wearing clothes like this could make the shipworkers relate to us more. They are likely to have families of their own, little sisters, daughters, nieces, and we can use that to our advantage.

>>25040854
>Observe the workers as they go about their business.

Also, what is the main grievance or grievances of the workers?
>>
>>25040854
First

> Observe the workers as they go about their business.

Then a little later

> Find the foreman's office to show him your deeds and have the area signed over to you officially.

Then after that

> Speak to the workers.
>>
>>25040854
Let's go hang around the workers a bit.

See what the general mood of our new employees is.
>>
>>25040865
This shipyard has yet to acquire the problems with the workers as of yet, so far as you know. The main greviance appears to be that a noble is paying some of his workers with promises rather than money; but that air yard is not this one. However, there are also apparently long-standing issues of pay and safety; the recent flare-up likely has a much deeper underlying cause.
>>
>>25040854

> Observe the workers as they go about their business
See if they are good happy workers. Unhappy workers means this was ill-managed and will need some...adjustments. Do this on the way to Find the foreman's office to show him your deeds and have the area signed over to you officially.
>>
> Observe the workers as they go about their business.
> Speak to the workers.

Mix with the workers, chat about goings on, learn what they're up to. Try to keep mental push to a minimum, we don't want to attract attention. Who knows who might be mixed in here?

>>25041155
Using your vampiric speed, you flit from place to place around the large shipyard.
A massive edifice, the dock of this airship yard is about as wide across as your castle; four ships in various states of construction lie grounded here, and one floats low, carefully tethered by a mass of cables. All of them swarm with activity; masses of workers haul great timbers to form the ribs of hulls, while others fasten massive pieces of canvas to skeleton frames of brass to form the great airbags that will provide the craft with buoyancy. Still others carefully manage the linkage of delicate mechanical parts to ensure the engines, each as large as a man, will respond smoothly to the precise control of the helm. Two are attended by harried-looking men with a profusion of small soot stains and scars; these munitions experts ensure that guns are properly tested on the ground and properly mounted aboard the fighting vessels they are intended for.

> Continued
>>
>>25041445

To one side, a building sits. Though it would be enormous anywhere else, the vast yawning chasm of the airdock adjacent to it makes it look tiny. A crowd of observers with brass oculars stand on its railings, shouting orders to the teeming masses of men below.

After taking a moment to get a general feel for the area, you slip into the building, and quickly discover it to be a combination office, dormitory, break room, and cafeteria. The workers from the night shift lie snoring in bunks separated by one thin wall from the noisy cafeteria, where others gamble their pay and purchase company food.
You hear a few grumbles of discontent; it would appear that a portion of each worker's pay is only valid at company stores, and as a result it's worth a fraction of what it should be. Apparently this is common practice for most large companies like this, but the workers still aren't happy about it- except for the few who live on-site and never need to buy much else than food and alcohol, and who are able to sell parts of their pay on for large amounts of company credit.

Stairs up are marked as the offices of the airwrights and foremen. The workers never ascend these steps; rather, the occasional messenger descends from them to yell into the crowd of workers in the cafeteria for a particular worker.

Do you ascend the steps now, or keep looking around at somewhere in particular? Maybe you wish to speak to some workers first?

Ask them about how this place compares to other airship yards, if it has changed much from what it used to be, see if they have other complaints about this place other than the company money thing such as walls being too thin between bunks and the cafeteria.
>>
>>25041509

Let's talk to some of the workers first. Ideally, I'd like to find out what they think of this workplace, how they feel about their bosses. Basically, if they have any particularly bothersome grievances.

If we can make sure our workers stay relatively satisfied, we might be able to keep populist unrest from spreading to our shipyard. Owning the only shipyard open for business when others are on strike could prove lucrative.

How will you speak to them? Mindfuckery to make them feel like it's perfectly normal?
Innocent "Gee mister, what's with these airships?" Or professional curiosity "I noticed that X, do you think that Y?"
>>
Store credits huh? My my, that never goes over well......it might be prudent to get hte common working mans' opinion on the matter.

>Chit chat the workers up
>>
>>25041625
We're just somebody's daughter.

"My daddy says the proletariat will rise up and throw off the tyranny of oppressive working conditions. What do you think?"
>>
>>25041625
A tiny bit of suggestion to make it not feel that out of the ordinary, go for the older ones who are likely to have kids to draw upon paternal/protective instincts.

Use an innocent, curious, and very excited tone of voice.

"Gee mister, those are some big airships, it must be hard work to make them. You build airships, right?"

When they say yes. "That's amazing, what's it like making them? I bet it's exciting, you make things that fly. I've always wanted to fly. Do you like it here?"

They'll probably give a vague answer. "Really mister, what's wrong with it here? You can tell me, it might make you feel a bit better."
>>
>>25041625
A mix i think?
"Oh these airships are terribly big! You must get a lot of money from working on these thing."
Mindfuckery to make them feel like this is perfectly normal and get them really comfortable talking to us.

Wait, they didn't add commentary to their rolls, they don't count, right, RIGHT?

I say we use our suggestion and a bit o' mindfuckery to ease them into being comfortable, and most importantly, honest! They shouldn't mince their words, so we know exactly what the problems current are! Satan guide my roll!
>>

As you walk around outside looking for an experienced worker to speak to, someone brushes against you in the crowd and you find that you've lost your parasol!

As the sun beats down on you from above, you fumble for your parasol in the dirt…

Dextrous, elegant, and undisciplined.

Does this mean we grab it and begin raging?
>>
>>25041943
We probably stomp our little feet and pout furiously at the world around us. We're adorable even when angry.
>>
>>25041916
Welp, in the oncoming questions we get for being so desperate to get out of the sun, I say we tell them we're frail and don't wish to tan from the heat, ruining our fair skin.

It should work since Masquerade passed so we still look like a little girl?

More like we let out a little shriek as we quickly recover our parasol.

Lets defend our upcoming lapse in personality as us being very afraid that we might lose our dear parasol. We could say the parasol is an heirloom or something similar.

D'awwwwww

… And catch it before it has time to do much more than brush the dirt.
Though you cry out from the temporary pain of the sun hitting your skin, everyone around you appears to think that it was simply a cry of surprise from losing your treasured possession. You hurry off back into the cafeteria, and take a corner table, where you hyperventilate quietly, your vampiric instincts not knowing that the danger is long past

> You gain 5 hunger from being burned, and another ten hunger from being unable to control your vampiric instincts. You now have 35 Hunger.
>>
>>25042027
The cafeteria will run red with blood.
>>
>>25042027
Shit, I'm sure glad we ate before we came out.

Welp, we ought to go visit the foreman since going outside is probably a bad idea.
>>
>>25042027

Let's go to the head office and get shit done before we fuck up our cover.
>>
>>25042027
Let's go up to the office. Being in a crowded place is probably not the best idea at this point.
>>
>>25042027
First thing we do when we get back is drink lightly from the Hunter, it'll only likely cause temporary problems, so it'll be fine. Maybe drink lightly from some mook back that we couldn't sell either.
>>

Shakily deciding against going out in the sun again, you climb the stairs to the shipwrights' office. They seem rather preoccupied with their work; none of them even glance in your direction. Across the room, a few men lean against the outside balcony.

Writing at the moment, will be archiving soon.

May I suggest that you allow our bonuses to rolls be shown?

Like: Roll Acumen! (1d100 + X)

X being the bonus we get. Or minus X, considering we roll low.
>>
>>25042321
Most of the time no bonuses are used other than clothing, but this is a good point.

After a careful look around the balcony, you pick the foreman out of the crowd- thankfully, he's actually inside, out of the sun.

Stepping up to him, you tap him lightly on the chest with the deed to the plant, making him look down quizzically.

"What are you doing here, little girl?"

"Little girl? I'm the Lady Isabella Katarina Blackford, and you will be addressing me with more respect."

"And why would I do that, little noble girl?"

"Because I own this shipyard, that's why. So stop talking stupidity to me, or I will have you replaced with a foreman who has better sense."

He actually stops to think at that.

"What? Show me those papers."

You dutifully pass him the deed, and he scans it carefully.

"This has to be some kind of mistake. You got this off of Sir Kurokan?"

You nod.

"Apparently he's worried about the recent issues with the workers at Lord Inzen's plant. Thinks this could be next and decided to offload it. That makes me the owner now."

You pluck the deed out of the foreman's hands before he has a chance to get any stupid ideas.

"I own your whole airdock. Don't presume I'm a liar just because I'm young."

The foreman frowns, and crosses his arms across his chest.

"Well then. What next?"

"You start listening to me, for one thing. "

He sighs.

"Fine, little girl. I'm listening."

> What do you want from the Foreman (if anything) aside from his acknowledging you as the owner of the plant?
>>
>>25042355
Production quotas. What are we building, and how many of each?
>>
>>25042355
"What is the state of the plant and is there anything that needs doing? Is there anything a more grown up person than me should know about?"
>>
>>25042355
First, his name. It would hardly do to simply call him foreman.

Get more details about this operation. Ask about the current projects the yard is working on and who they are going to, what projects are lined up for after the current things are done, which clients they do most of their business with, the scale of this place compared to other yards, the quality of the airships compared to other yards, the state of the workers and how content they are, the profits this place brings in, any notable changes in operation that have happened within the past few years, the names and a brief description of anyone here of great import such as the head designers/shipwrights, people in charge of great numbers of men or specialized areas of construction.

And also ask why he has not sent someone to fetch us a proper cup of tea.
