He's right, you're a douche too.

If it's a skyworld fall protection should be quite commonplace, standard even. One would think it would logically be much cheaper.
>>
>>25064684
Well... he should have had some way to save himself. I'm guessing this wasn't a level 1 start since people had access to fly. So a ring/ a few potions of feather fall would hardly break the bank. For christ's sake a feather fall potion is only 50gp

No, but seriously, if your character is coming from this Skyworld, wouldn't it make sense for your character to prepare for a (very) likely scenario?

I'm finding it hard to disagree with your DM here. Especially since you apparently spent your gold on better arms and weaponry, indicating to the pirates that you were a larger threat than the rest of your party.

Slowfall is not enough, because there's only two ways that shit can turn out:

1. He falls forever through the endless sky this world is composed of.
2. He falls all the fucking way down to earth, with no way to reach his companions or get back to them anytime soon.

Both of these suck, so GMs that run a campaign IN THE FUCKING SKY should maybe make flight more accessible/cheap. Maybe just some kind of safety harness that activates only when falling and flies you automatically back to the ship it's attuned to. Bam. Instant fucking solution, nobody gets fucked over, everyone is happy.

Your DM sounds like a dickhole. I wouldn't play with that guy. He sounds like he's not much fun, and he sounds like he's taken a specific dislike to you in particular. Though you definitely should acknowledge your own role in riling him up further once he's already gotten going. I'd still do the same if I was you though.

There are basically two ways you can go about this. Either you tell the players straight up front that these are the rules and setting, sky pirates are badasses who brave the sky, and falling down is just a working hazard. Reach high enough level doing this crazy ass job, and you can write your own legend. To make players less cranky you can add exp, since falling to your death is pretty much a save-or-die and those arent supposed to show up before CR 7-8. Alt 2, respect the poor players, whose hand you must hold. Make flying free and easily available so that they dont piss their diapers in fear.

From my point of view, all players went into this game well aware of the circumstances. To whine about dying because you didn't prepare is very That Guy.
>>
>>25065536
That seems a bit extreme, DM should've waited at least one more session just to make sure the rogue was being honest or let them bring the ogre and make the encounters harder.
>>
>>25065568
>Make flying free and easily available so that they dont piss their diapers in fear

How about "Flying is our main mode of transportation, maybe add some basic and sensible safety precautions". Even fucking pirate ships had life boats.

If a GM runs a game in a specific and hazardous setting, I'd assume that a decent GM either has some fucking way in place for common people to survive or maybe just doesn't use the setting itself to kill us all at every turn. I'm all for challenging campaigns, but this is just ridiculous.
>>
>>25065451
never took ogre to city though entire city knew we had some giant creature when we bought giant armor also rogue tried his best to disguise it when going out, didn't really work well but we hung a sign around him that said "I''m a good guy" front and back
>>
>>25065533
>>25064626
The DM may sound like a douche about the race thing, but from my experience, womyn are prone to play "who gives a shit about their powerlevel" characters, who rarely can take care of themselves in combat and instead roleplay. If one of my prime RP-fags or girl players wanted to play a minotaur I wouldn't give a shit. If my powergamer wants to play a kobold, or even mention advanced race guide, my alarm goes off real good.

With OP's description so far, it sounds like he falls into the "dm wont let him play anything that can be abused"
>>
>>25065568
There's really no way to justify it one way or the other since the only person who knows about the scenario is OP. Yes, OP should probably have bought some type of slowfall something. Yes, in a Skyworld it would make sense that these things are commonplace, and thusly, cheaper than normal.

That said, if what OP said is true about 6 pirates throwing him over the edge while being attacked by and ignoring the other players, the DM really went out of his way to kill him in a very extreme fashion. But, OP did pick at the DM a bit by being disguised as a Kobold just to kinda spite the DM. There's a lot of things at fault here.
>>
>>25065605
Its all about social contract. If the DM hands out bonus exp and gives them credit for being awesome, then its a great campaign. Not everyone wants to fight goblins for the rest of their carreer. Some people want to play beowulf, and then the risk of death is quite high. But that all runs down to if the players agreed on it or not.
If my players come to me and ask for "a great, dangerous campaign, where everyone sees us as heroes", then I might run a campaign in the sky.

As for flying magic and lifeboats, that is all about tone. Flying magic is still expensive. Either keep it a challenging campaign, or make flying cheap, its all about what the PLAYERS want.
>>
>>25065648
That is true, odds are, both op and DM had their reasons and faults. OP was probably annoying, and DM was probably acting out in frustration. A very bad trait for a DM, since killing someones characters is not a good way to mend fences or improve a situation
>>
>>25065586
yeah some of us got permission from DM to spend our skill points to teach him languages and how to write them.
we were trying to civilize him and get him to only eat cows.... though we spent so much on weapons and stuff we gave up and let him eat the corpses of our enemies cause we couldn't afford a livestock ranch just for him also at the time.
>>
>>25065672
>>25065586
I agree with you, bit douchy to kill the ogre. It is a common mistake all DM's learn from, however. You want to kill a NPC to set the tone, or for an awesome twist, yet you forget how much players attach to them. Hopefully he learned a lesson there.
>>

>>
>>25064626
>I refused to invest the insane amount of gold into it.

If it's a sky world, wouldn't all safety systems from falling be dirt cheap? I mean, over the years certainly wizards and engineers would have invested much of their time and money to make cheaper, more effective safety measures, right?
>>
>>25064833

I think it's kinda obvious that even if he had kitted himself out with literally all the flying gear in the world, the GM would just have gone "nope, doesn't work" anyway.
>>
>>25065710
yeah i know sign didn't help much as DM kept wanting to kill grum but there was not much we could do. we kept trying to get the rogue to dump all his skill points as he leveled in disguise and we would work to getting disguise kits. but the rogue kept saying what are we going to disguise a giant ogre as anyways.
>>
>>25065672
That sucks even harder then if you spent your own skill points on him. I would have been pissed.
>>
>>25065783
That is a fair point though, ogres are what? 10 feet tall minimum? Not very many things are that big that could walk around a town without raising suspicion. Even if it was a magical disguise he'd be bangin his head on everything and taking up lots of space.

That said, poor Grum.
>>
it was a good point, but we thought if the rogues disguise was good enough, no one would break it. Druid of party suggested disguising grum as a is treant familiar which most of party liked but the rogue was stuborn saying "why the hell would a treant have full plate mail on" while we kept saying we would disguise that as well.
>>
>>25065352
oh my just looked back and saw this comment and reminded me of the first fight we had with grum where the rogue riding on shoulder rampaged grum into party of zombies while rogue yelled "it's shreking time"
most of us laughed
>>
It's kinda dumb, yeah.

I made my sky world campaign use tokens of feather fall as currency. No falling damage as long as you weren't broke.

'course, it's not the ground that kills you, it's the ravenous mindless killing monsters on the surface that does it if you don't have friends to pick you up.

Not captain trips there, but I think he meant OP was jerk for not taking the same precautions as the rest of the team. Imagine it was a trek across a wasteland and everyone else bought extra food and OP bought other cool stuff. Then the DM has the raiders attack and they get the food stores. All everyone has is their own food. OP is now an asshole he could have prepared, but chose not to. But the fact that OP was singled out to be tossed overboad and that being kobold = ruining the game makes me think additional things are going on. Pic is my take on it.

That was just the incident I remember best from the long series of bullshit we had to deal with.

Such as limb prosthesis technology being nonexistent when every time we took a hit to a limb it was blown completely off (guy didn't understand the damage rules and wouldn't listen to reason).

And this one time we found an abandoned asteroid base, and wanted to use it as a secret hideout, but there was another of those weird alien things sitting on top of the base's reactor draining ALL of the power away from it, and we couldn't remove it while it was receiving power. So I say I'll just use my laser pistol to cut one of the power cables that he described as sitting in plain view on the side of the reactor, and he tells me if I do that it will destroy the base even though I have all fucking day to take my time and cut the thing off like a surgeon.

And so many other times we wanted to do something like use a HEAT warhead swiped from an armory to kill the defenders inside a small room, or just attack whatever ship we damn well pleased because we were fucking pirates, and the answer was just no, you can't because X.

>Entire World is a tree
>Everything is magitech or powered by occult circuitry
>BBEG is a crazy mannequin obssessed with "true magic" and wanting to burn the tree down
>Everything is mutated in some form or another. There are bird people, pirahna people, gecko people, etc.
>Everything around us ends up exploding

And then there's the a big session we had a month ago!

>Party splits up
>Two members end up hijacking a blimp and infiltrating a town-sized airship, piloted by the city sheriff who has gone insane and started firing on the town
>The other half of the party is running through the town, trying to stop the BBEG from enacting his plans
>Get there too late, BBEG sets ENTIRE CITY on fire
>Other PCs crash airship into burning city, making the fire larger
>Try to save what people I can and escape

LET ME TELL YOU A TALE, TG.

>Playing Agents of Oblivion (Savage Worlds)
>Last mission was a high stakes hostage mission being filmed on national TV
>It didn’t go so well. Majority of terrorists escaped, penthouse suite blew up, etc.
>However, the party looted a magical painting while on the mission
>Back at safe house, one party member (Navajo Shapeshifter) takes a liking to the painting
>Puts it up in his room.
>Orders a replica painting online, gets it shipped for a nearby PO Office using the most expensive and quick method of transport… I see where this is going.
>Player decides that he is going to steal the painting.
>That night, has a strange dream involving the American Southwest and evil witches
>Decides to steal the painting.
>Early in the morning, he sneaks into another party member’s room (the leader’s room) to put him to magical sleep.
>Sleeping player rolls a raise on notice, rolls out of bed with gun drawn.
>Leader is a paranoid conspiracy theorist, so this makes sense.
>Navajo shapeshifter says: “NO BRO ITS COOL JUST LOOKING FOR AN EXTRA BLANKET”
>Leader: “… We have a linen closet, you know.”
>Okay.jpg

>Wakes up at 6am.
>Wanders out of room, notices another player is awake.
>Other player is a Spanish psionic watching football because time zones.
>Spanish Psionic: “Whatcha doing?”
>Navajo: “Going for a walk.”
>Spanish Psionic: “… k.”
>>
>>25076626

>In his room, Navajo puts painting outside through window onto fire escape.
>Walks out the front door.
>Picks up painting outside…
>He peels the painting out of its frame, folds it up and stuffs it in his pocket.
>The painting is an original copy from 1490.
>Leaves frame on fire escape.
>Notices frame has hidden occult protective runes, ignores it.
>Wanders outside, jumps into a bush in order to transform into a dog.
>Note: City is on lockdown due to terrorist attack. I mentioned this last session. I rolled police notice.
>Hit and raise. Neat.

>Meanwhile, Spanish Psionic checks out his room.
>Everything checks out.
>No painting on the wall, but Psionic doesn’t know it should be there.

>Two police officers pull up in a police cruiser.
>Ask Navajo why he jumped into a bush.
>Still in bush, Navajo narrates how he hides the painting in the bush. This is important.
>”I’m just looking for my dog.”
>”What is your dog’s name?”
>”I don’t know. It isn’t actually my dog. It belongs to one of my neighbours.”
>”… Do you know who the dog belongs to?”
>>
>>25076641

>”No idea.”
>”… Can we see some identification, sir?”
>Player pulls out identification from last night.
>Identification indicates that he is an FBI agent.
>Police completely puzzled.
>”Please hang on while we verify your credentials, sir.”
>Navajo: “EXCUSE ME GENTLEMEN BUT IF YOU ARE NOT DETAINING ME I AM LEAVING NOW.”
>”Sir… just… hang on.”
>Dispatch verifies his identity.
>”Sir… why were you diving into bushes at 6 am in the morning?”
>”CLASSIFIED.”

>Player goes down to PO Box, gets replica painting, goes back home and puts replica painting into the frame.
>Sneaks back through the fire escape into his open window, puts the painting up on display.
>Remembers that he left the authentic painting in the bush back on the street!
>Checks bush.
>THE PAINTING ISN’T THERE.
>Panic.jpg
>Instead of calling the police, he runs to the nearest police precinct.
>Demands that Desk Sagant put him on phone with two beat cops who interrupted him.
>”WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PAINTING?”
>”We checked out the bush after you left, just to be sure, sir.”
>”We found what appeared to be a crumpled up piece of garbage.” [1 on notice check]
>”We threw it out.”
>Navajo flips out. “WHERE?”
>”The garbage bin in the back, sir. Littering is a serious offense.”
>Player runs back to the garbage bin near the party’s safe house.

>Gm rolls for whether or not the garbage truck showed up that day.
>Rolled 1d6, if 1, they would show
>Bam, a 1.
>Navajo gets furious OOC.
>GM, this is unfair, I demand a redo.
>Okay! I’ll roll a d8 for the week. If 8, we reroll. What number is today, player?”
>Navajo: SIX.
>GM rolls…
>Six.
>GM showed all of the rolls he made, so no cheating.
>”Wow, look at that. A 1/48 chance of that happening.”

>Navajo passes notice check, see garbage truck driving away down street.
>Runs after it with all of his aboriginal agility.
>Actually catches up to the garbage truck, flashing his FBI ID.
>”HALT, NOW.”
>Garbage: “What’s up?”
>”THERE ARE CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS IN THE BACK OF YOUR TRUCK.”
>”… Why are they in the garbage, sir?”
>”GIVE ME YOUR GLOVES, I’M GOING IN.”
>Garbage man undoes trash compactor, revealing a horrid garbage mess.
>Fails hard notice check, only finds a shred of the painting
>Navajo orders them to drive him down to the main office to complain to the manager
>Once they arrive, Navajo complains and demands to check through the garbage.
>Garbage truck dumps load onto parking lot, as per FBI orders, so Navajo can look through.
>>
>>25076668

>Meanwhile, back at base, everyone is waking up.
>Spanish psionic and leader of group watching football.
>Leader mentions that the painting is going to be picked up today, HQ will give details.
>Spanish psionic asks where the painting is.
>Leader says: “Navajo’s room.”
>Spanish psionic: [Worrying Intensifies]
>Spanish psionic runs to Navajo’s room, finds painting on the wall.
>That wasn’t… there before.
>Casts Detect Arcana.
>”LEADER! THE PAINTING IS NOT MAGICAL, REPEAT, NOT MAGICAL.”
>Leader: “Oh shit. Where’s Navajo?”
>Navajo missing. Painting missing. Window still open, letting cold air in.
>Wakes every party member, organizes meeting.
>Better call the Navajo on his cellphone…

>Leader sets Navajo onto speakerphone.
>Leader: “Navajo. Where is the painting?”
>Navajo: “IT WAS STOLEN. I FOUND IT IN THE GARBAGE.”
>Party: “really.”
>Navajo: “YES. COME PICK ME UP.”
>Party: “Where?”
>Navajo: “… THE YMCA HOTEL NEARBY.”
>Navajo gets washed, party members get ready to pick him up.
>Navajo returns to safehouse.
>Party leader is mad.
>”What happened? Seriously.”
>”It was a thief, I swear.”
>Spanish psionic uses Detect Arcana again, finds shred of painting in Navajo’s pocket.
>”JIG’S UP, BRO.”
>Navajo, unable to weasel his way out of this one, spills the beans.
>He apparently stole the painting because he feels connected to it.
>The painting is a horrible depiction of hell.
>Party: ._. Time to go to the garbage depot!
>Party lines van with plastic lining.
>>
>Party arrives at Garbage Depot. It is lightly raining.
>Compacted garbage pile leaking magic into drain.
>Party works quickly to shove the entire garbage pile into the back of the van.
>Navajo hampers efforts all the way, takes it apart while the rest is trying to keep it intact.
>Ugh. UGH.
>Party drives back to safehouse.
>The party, knowing about his shapeshifting abilities, lock down the apartment.
>Leader keeps Navajo distracted.
>Party Leader: “Okay. Sit in front of the TV.”
>The TV has a webcam for teleconferencing with their boss.
>Navajo: “Why?”
>Party Leader: “You’re going to explain yourself now.”
>Navajo: “UHHHHH I HAVE TO GO TO THE WASHROOM.”
>Spanish Psionic: I go to the adjacent room and keep an eye on the bathroom window .
>Navajo has shapeshifting powers, may turn into a bird to fly away.
>Navajo decides to turn into a fish and swim down the toilet.
>Spanish psionic OOC: Why did you turn into a fish? Don’t you usually turn into a bird?
>Navajo OOC: I felt like doing something different this time.
>Spanish psionic accuses Navajo of metaknowledge. Ugh.

>Party waits…
>Where is Navajo?
>Bust down door. Oh shit, he’s gone.
>Smarts check – must have used to the toilet.
>Team Leader pulls up sewer schematics on computer using Oblivion Support Tech (Jonathan).
>Guides Spanish Psionic to predicted location of Navajo.
>>
>>25076698

>Navajo decides to turn into a bird.
>What kind of bird, Navajo?”
>”Any kind.”
>”Are you sure? It is dark and wet down here.”
>”You’re right, GM. I turn into an owl.”
>”You transform into an owl despite being underwater. You are not very clever.”
>Navajo owl flails around in the sewer shit water.
>Eventually turns into a rat, tries to escape up manhole.

>MEANWHILE…
>Spanish Psionic, with Detect Arcana and Teleport at the ready, moves down to the street…
>Into the sewer…
>… And see the magical rat being trying to climb up a wall.
>Using teleport and quick movement, Spanish psionic grabs rat.
>Teleports rat and himself into safehouse.
>”WE GOT HIM, PARTY.”

>Navajo immediately turns into a hummingbird
>Tries to find a way out.
>Everything’s closed/locked.
>Drops hummingbird form at his room’s door, runs in and opens the window.
>Party intervenes.
>They are weapons-live at this point.
>Meanwhile Oblivion Tech Support Guy is freaking out.
>His webcam is catching this farce.
>Navajo is shot by Gun Specialist, brought down to 2 of 3 wounds.
>He’s shaken.
>>
>>25076710

>Spanish psionic teleports into the room, puts hand on the window and closes it.
>Navajo is surrounded and outarmed.
>When unshaken, Navajo draws his weapon from his desk rest.
>Party gets ready to take this shit down.
>Navajo points gun at his own head.
>”I’m sorry… just let me kill myself… I deserve at least this…”
>Party: No.
>The party launches a three man assault on him.
>The leader (quite obese) body slams the Navajo, disarming him.
>The other two (Spanish psionic and Gun specialist) take him down with non-lethal damage.

>Oblivion retrieves the garbage/painting block from the back of the van.
>Oblivion HQ is actually quite happy with the success of the party –
>Why? The party was suspected to be harbouring a double agent!
>You did it, team. That must have been him.
Nope. The double agent had actually planned to inform his organization of the painting retrieval, give the fake agent the details and go pick it up before the actual Oblivion agent showed up. The double agent, for now, is still safely nestled in the party.

Epilogue:

Navajo Player, OOC walking home with me: I don’t think I’ll be showing up any more. I’d rather hang out with my friends.

A pretty good shot. Up until then, we had a pretty good body count going. Metatron, Zeus, Ra, Horus, Anubis (we really did a number on Egyptian stuff) and that was only the major ones. The DM whined afterwards that if YHVH himself was going to be a battle, then he would've "stuck around after we rolled our characters."

YHVH had only appeared in the whole pre-game set the story up shit. But it was obvious he was important because with the gods we did talk with, we had pieced together things like that they only came after YHVH because they didn't want to risk a guy with the guy over first dibs.

Revelation Chapter 1 Verse 12-16

12 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man,[d] dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

SOMEONE should have read more Christian Theology. You deserved everything the DM gave you. You fought the over-God, who is LITERALLY omnipotent, and lost. Fuck, the DM was generous beyond words for even giving Yahweh a stat block.
>>
>>25080057
and in Exodus (I think) god does say to look on his face will kill/blind
>>
>>25080090
In Christian Theology, God doesn't even have a body. He's an infinite mass of four-dimensional information existing outside of space-time. The whole "Old as fuck Jew on a throne" thing is just a Theophany. A manifestation he uses to speak to us lesser beings. The fact that the DM chose to make Yahweh just be a jewish Over-god instead of His true infinite self, was merciful beyond words.
>>
>>25080057

All of this.

God as depicted in every Abrahamic text is so far past anything a human (or other god, they're mentioned in the Bible too) can imagine hoping to achieve that trying to kill him is pants-on-head retarded.

Omnipotent doesn't mean "If you try really, really hard you can kill him", it means all powerful. As in all of the power, ever. And your DM tried to warn you it'd be a TPK, too.
>>
>>25080057
Okay so maybe he does have an appearance, but omnipotent does not mean unbeatable.

>>25080090
We were wearing helmets.

>>25080148
We actually called him out on that. His response was "if he didn't take this form you'd die by looking out him out of inability to comprehend his true form" in effect.

>>25080216
Not every god feared him, they just didn't want to fight him. We ran into Odin and he said there was no point in fighting him and that YHVH had already left and wanted nothing more to do with the world.

>>25080293
Again, omnipotent does not mean unbeatable.
>>
>>25080293
It could be a bluff too. God might have 1's in every stat, but if his bluff is high enough it doesn't matter
>>
>>25080348
How the fuck doesn't omnipotent mean unbeatable.
>>
>>25080348
Omnipotent in the Christian sense, means that God can control all of reality. In Christianity, Yahweh is the Creator who made every atom in reality, and the Sustainer, that is to say, the universe only keeps existing because He continues willing that it exists. If He for even a moment stopped holding reality in being by His own good pleasure, it would fall back into the Nothing from which is was formed.

He is entirely outside the universe, only creating "avatars" by which to speak to us. The only things He cannot change, per the Christian religion, are logic and His own nature. So the only things He can't do are being Evil, be Stupid, or be Illogical.

You don't get it, you weren't even fighting God, you were fighting a finger puppet His infinite Lovecraftian self created to come and bitch at you.

God is infinitely higher and greater then Metatron or Micheal or Odin. As in, the distance between you and the smallest atom, is SMALLER, then the distance between Lucifer [the mightiest of the angels] himself and God Almighty.
>>
>>25080348
Omnipotent AND omniscient. Go ahead and try to kill the proverbial ultraparanoid epic level inmortal archwizard as level 1 fighters with no magic items. That's a piece of cake compared with God's level

>>25080492

>>
>>25080492
Not even fucking CLOSE, per their settings. Odin is a finite being with a physical body, Yahweh is the infinite All that exists outside of reality.

It'd be like Superman fighting Azathoth, except instead of corrupt and mad, He's all-knowing and omnibenevolent.

Imagine Lawful Good at its absolute finest, completely devoid of stupidity or naive mercy. Imagine a being who knows the EXACT nature and contours of your Being, and is entirely prepared to JUSTICE your ass for being Evil.

Why did you try to skip right to the final boss, despite the DM repeatedly telling you it was a bad idea?

>DM keeps trying to salvage the plot by warning us
>keeps saying that this is an incredibly bad idea
>not falling for it, manage to kill Metatron

>not falling for it

Did you think the DM was just lying to you?
>>
>>25080594
Communicating my ass, it never did any of that. Hell, Metatron was the voice of God, right? He didn't even do that. He only showed up because apparently YHVH had sent him to slap our shit. When we killed him the DM tried to backpedal with how Metatron was a "warning shot."

>>25080632
Pretty much. I really do not like railroading DMs.
>>
>>25080587
How is it obvious an immortal, omnipotent, omniscient being is killable? :|

Not to mention, as pointed out before, he exists completely outside of reality. Even if you did "kill him", he'd just make a new Avatar, port right back in, and continue where his last Avatar left off.
>>
>>25080587
I'm going to assume you're not christian, jewish or islam. If you're then you don't know your own fucking belief system.
His stat block was max because the DM didn't want to just draw the infinite symbol in the sheet.
Why were you killing the gods anyway? Personal power? Reversing the apocalypse? tumblr atheism? Protecting the people? Grim edgyness?
>>
>>25080648
The only railroading I saw was the DM telling you fighting someone who will easily and effortlessly annihilate you is a bad idea.

Given the result, I'd say the DM was right on the money there.

Let me rephrase. YAHWEH COULD THINK YOU OUT OF EXISTENCE!
>>
>>25080648
>Pretty much. I really do not like railroading DMs.

Dying to an enemy far above your own powerlevel, when you insisted on fighting them and were not maneuvered into it, and were in fact warned against it, does not seem like railroading to me.

If you really thought the DM was railroading you, how could you possibly think that fighting Yahweh would go well?
>>
>>25080702
Oh the Godman comics. Those get me everytime.

Person who posted the story, I'd suggest you look at those for an example of how easy YHVH went on you by entertaining the idea of fighting you head on.
>>
>>25080667
First and Fourth. The DM had it that with YHVH gone, the gods were trying to figure out what to do, with a lot of them killing each other over what was left. Norse was being treated as a sect where they were happy to just shit up the planet as a sort of "last hurrah"
Our players saw that the gods were really not doing a good job and figured that for the good of humanity it was best to take them down. Divine loot was a plus.

>>25080674
>>25080716
We weren't supposed to kill Metatron and we did, so we were on a pretty good streak.

>>25080702
So then why didn't he? And furthermore if he could, why have someone like that in the campaign?
>>
>>25080751
The DM was HUMORING YOU you idiot. Because if the DM just said "Yeah none of you exist anymore" you would have ragequit!

And Yahweh was included as a PLOT DEVICE, not an enemy you could fight!
>>
>>25080751
>why didn't he?
Because your DM probably figured that YHVH was personally slighted by you guys killing Metatron, and maybe wanted to bitch-slap you personally. Maybe he hadn't had a decent romp in awhile. Maybe he just was on the way to the store, who knows?

>if he could, why have someone like that in the campaign?
Because you and your party made it very obvious that you wanted to take a shot at YHVH. DESPITE the fact he kept telling you it was a terrible decision. He was the impetus for the whole setting, not an active player in it.
>>
>>25080751
>We weren't supposed to kill Metatron and we did, so we were on a pretty good streak.

You killed one of the BBEG's lieutenants, presumably by a fluke the DM didn't actually expect, judging by your story. Then you decided to try to defeat the BBEG himself, despite having no expectation that you would succeed, save for a lucky break.

Again, if you suspected the DM of railroading, there is no way you should have expected this to go well.
>>
>>25080751
tl:dr this entire discussion

You and the other players were dumb, and you are in the bigger assholes here. Not the DM.
nothing you've been saying has changed this.
Try to be less dumb and less of an asshole in the future.

>DM starts running this campaign for people who haven't played 3.5/d&d at all

>instead of making characters, we all get to pick from 12 premade characters
>I choose a winged elf ranger, that has gone down the archery path
>level up, start taking feats the benefit from me flying and being able to shoot from a height
>after a few weeks of me letting the party paladin and fighters draw all the aggro while I spam arrows my DM takes me aside and tells me to lay off flying all the time
>I tell him thats the gimmick he gave the character
>Next week we fight a gold dragon, I fail my fear and run like a tard
>dragon flies after me, ignoring the golden draconian paladin who is smacking it in the chest as it takes off
>I managed to live through the even via having better flight and not having to deal with a bunch of other adventurers at the same time
>week after we get stuck in 5ft by 5ft corridors, low ceilings and I never get to fly again
>kill my character off because I can't do shit anymore while one melee guy just goes one one with what ever is in the corridor in front of us
>never play d&d with him again

His other great stories include not allowing barbarians to wear armor of any kind and making everything within 3.5 act like it came straight out of warhammer fantasy.

You intentionally antagonized the benevolent dictator by hunting down his priests, despite repeated warnings. Metatron, the voice of the benevolent dictator, comes by, because said dictator still doesn't really want to deal with you himself. He just wants to be left alone.

So you kill Metatron, and the dictator decides he's had enough and detaches an infinitesimal fraction of his might to get you to stop bothering him.

Your death was just.

Okay I shall recount the tales of my people

>30 something yua-tai (snake dudes) come pouring onto our airship
>we are level 3
>there's 6 of us
>we promptly tell him he's a fucking retard, he tells up to play along
>all of us end up poised and pass out/get dropped to negatives
>wake up in a prison
>no weapons ect
>some random snake chick gives us a rehearsed monologue, none of us get a chance to interact with her before she fucks off and we are beaten by the guards
>eventually wake up to the sound of fighting
>some rebels we never heard of are attacking the prison we are being held in
>join up, all aboard the train
>after several sessions we decide to go back and slap the piss out of the snake bitch
>she TPK's us with her minions in 3 rounds
>we were 6th level at this point

Basically he made some retarded story about rebel and some snake bitch (which he drew, I noticed she had some very sexualized features) and when we tried to kill her I am pretty sure he fudge everything and made her stats up on the fly.

Week after we started a new campaign as level 1 goblins and had a shit ton of fun doing goblin things...he complained the whole time.

Maybe. But that's not what happened. You took on Yahweh all by yourself, intentionally. All of this is your own fault. You could have spent some time gathering all the mystic forces and divine artifacts you could possibly reach, in preparation for a fight against the highest power known. You could have set up an epic battle against the single greatest being ever.

But you're still wrong. If he's omnipotent then that other God that exists is a part of him. Omnipotence implies that you have power over and are everything. You are all power/stuff in the universe.

And for a different anon who was talking about coinflips that has more to do with Omniscience which essentially invalidates the concept of free will..... something most non monotheists find disconcerting.

Am I a That DM?

The group and I were playing a game of Cyberpunk: 2020 and things (as they usually do) went tits up. Imagine the LA Riots of 1992 (Rodney King, etc) and that's a regular day in this part of Night City. One of my players was a japanese special agent character. An NPC rolls out of the alleyway with intent to fight him and kill him. That's fine, these things happen.

Allow me to preface things by saying that said NPC was a former character turned into a murdering, psychopathic cyborg who preferred to wield jet fuel powered sledgehammers. Yes, the rules exist for that. Another point to be made is the difficulty levels--an easy task would be a Difficulty 15 roll, and an 'Impossible' task would be Difficulty 35--as an example, an impossible task would be making military grade explosives in your bathroom, or altering an AI while you're inside its consciousness. The things that shouldn't happen, but might. His character routinely rolled in the 40's, without 'exploding' dice (roll a 10 on a d10, reroll it and add the two results).

Hurting him--or anything else designed to give the 'thrill' and reminder that in fact, you were a mortal person--couldn't happen. In less than 10 rounds said character and NPC finished a fight that should have taken a disproportionately longer amount of time to finish, to say the least, with the character (asian guy) barely touched. As a test someone got a bead on him with a machinegun and fired, hitting him 20 out of 30 times. In a game where 4 wounds to the head can kill you outright, he was hit twice in the dome. Walked away from it, too. Please note that this happens on a regular basis--he was by and large, untouchable. After that I essentially asked for his sheet, telling him a sniper with a 50 caliber rifle was shooting at him. A weapon designed to destroy or render useless lightly armed vehicles shot him in the chest. He took the hit. And lived. It was too much and he agreed with me on that, and was otherwise fine with it.
>>
>>25081855
I guess I just worry that I'm a shitty GM. I'm still relatively new to this shit, and don't want to cock it all up from the get-go. To clarify, the player in question was my former GM, and a seasoned player by any definition.

There is one problem with christian theology and the whole god being omnipotent, he has a form of kryptonite: iron chariots. Judges 1:19. God is merely uberpowerful but not omnipotent.

crafting feather fall item in pathfinder, Spell level * caster level * 2000 / (5/# uses a day) = 400 gold, crafting it yourself or having a buddy craft it : 200 gold.

if your allowed to apply limitations, then it goes down to 140 gold. (thing ring can only lift those who's heart isn't darkened by malicious intent, only works for good characters or whatever)

Is 140 gold an insane investment for a character to make? Only if your starting at level 1 175 gold, at which point you can't afford it unless you roll your gold and get near max. Hell, at that point, buy nothing and give the gold to the party member to crank it out in an hour since it costs piddly nothing.

Die for your sins but don't cry about them to us.

>>25081886
And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

You'd have to be retarded to not interpret this to mean "The Israelites couldn't beat the inhabitants of the valley". What kind of idiot would think this was saying Yahweh couldn't do it? The guy floods planets and doesn't afraid of anybody, do you HONESTLY believe that implying Yahweh was too weak was the author's intention?
>>
>>25081911
yeah, YHWH should never be considered the actual UberGod if you had any understanding of his origins or how judiasm and christianity eventually came to be. It should actually be Marduk, the first monotheist UberGod. Late in the Babylonain empire, the other gods were simply folded into Marduk.

>>25081990
No, Israelite's powers falter before chariots. This passage is merely using the textual device common in the Bible of attributing the actions of Israel to God. Israel does something and God takes the credit. So Judges is saying that ISRAEL couldn't defeat these people. Yahweh himself obviously could have.
>>
>>25082013

While I can see where everyone is getting a raging hard-on for "ooh, omnipotent, you lose"...

...considering this "God" had stats, they really aren't omnipotent. You don't stat things that aren't killable - behind the scenes, you just note that they can't be killed!

Better would have been to let the players try whatever they wanted, have God (a real, statless one!) smack them down, then turn them into his new lieutenants/heralds/whatever. Set the campaign in a new direction.

The fact that said DM did none of this shows the player is right about it being crap. The DM was just butthurt they weren't following the specific railroad HE wanted them to use.
>>
>>25082084

As opposed to the entire rest of the thread giving an opposing opinion. You're just taking those two since they agree with you.
>>
>>25082013

You're actually going to leave this thread thinking you're right, aren't you?

The Old Testament God is a dick bag. He's one of the most callous, cruel, vindictive and megalomaniacal entities in any book printed. Consider this: in God's plan, he slaughters *literally* every first born male child in Egypt. Every single one of them. Why? Because Pharoah (note, here, it is SPECIFICALLY Pharoah who is doing the jew imprisoning, and all of Egypt's children who are dying) would not let the Jew's go. Why did he not let them go? BECAUSE GOD HARDENED PHAROAH'S HEART AGAINST THE JEWS.

So yeah, it's pretty plausible that God was with Judah, saw the iron chariots, and said 'fuck it, you deal with those'. Interpretting the bible to say 'god couldn't handle that iron shit' is asinine, and clearly demonstrates poor reading comprehension.

The DM apparently gave this guy and his party a ton of leway. He wasn't saying "You HAVE to do this", he was saying you CAN'T do this.

It doesn't make the fact you thought you could kill something that's literally all-powerful.

>>25082284

Here's what you are missing:

Supposedly this "God" wanted to be left alone. Obviously this is not working, because the players have surpassed everything he's tossed at them.

Why kill them? MORE will eventually come.

If he's "omnipotent" (which again, this God can't be, because he's statted - this is important!), he would simply turn them to his own use and make them his new defense against trouble.

It's a very, very, VERY simple thing for the DM that is willing to work with a story and not be in love with whatever crap he wrote up.

I like that the argument has devolved into 'you've presented no compelling evidence that you're right, aside from a couple people citing the fact that the bible is a confusing mess, which doesn't really have anything to do with whether or not the God in this campaign is omnipotent anyways' against 'lol faggot'.
>>
>>25082339
The avatar of God was statted, because the DM didn't want to just tell the players "He wills you out of existence". Based on all telling, the DM was using modern all powerful Christian Yahweh.

Ignoring the sub-issue of whether the character was this great in his origins, the DM clearly thought that Yahweh was all powerful, and in the SETTING, He was so.

So regardless of what our theological and historical level of knowledge is, I think most of us can agree that Anon is a dumbass who bit off more then he could chew, and his DM was so far in the Right he was manifesting a halo.

>Of course, YHVH isn't truly omnipotent in those games, just very strong and a huge asshole.

This is one of the keys. The DM of the game in question apparently statted a supposedly omnipotent being. Which...means they aren't, even if they are max stats.

Because that means (conceivably) anyone else with enough time and effort could become omnipotent. Which I'm pretty sure the DM didn't want.

Maybe people think this is a minor point, but it really isn't. I'm all for omnipotent, really! But the DM didn't make his "God" omnipotent. He made him limited by giving him stats, even at max.

He made a SMT "God".
>>

Doubt he was crying, he just thought it was an example of a That DM.

Which it kinda is.

Or at least a very uninspired one. You would think (considering the setting), any DM with any sort of skills would at least have some fallback in case of "God gets attacked" that wasn't a TPK, because that ends the campaign.

It just makes no sense, and is a sign of poor DMing.
>>
>>25082433
Ok. Lets say that Yahweh is all powerful. He literally controls all the universe as though it were his own appendages. He has absolute power over every little atom in it, and can move them around as sees fit. And now imagine he is mad at you. Like, fucking SEETHING.

Please tell me a way that you can NOT kill the party, if you were the DM? Don't say diplomacy, He already knows your arguments and why they're full of shit. Don't say battle, every weapon you use is under his full power. Don't say bluff, he sees into your very soul.

That works too. Banish "God", let the players THINK they killed him, but have them later discover they really didn't! It could even make sense, since the real God was (by intent) should have been a true omnipotent being.

>>
>>25082570
The only problem with the DM doing that, is that by now the DM had established that this story God wasn't a faker pretending to be omnipotent, but was rather actually all-powerful.

If the DM had made it clear, or even hinted, that the Yahweh wasn't the monotheistic deity, that could have made a good plottwist, like in Salvation Wars. But he had already made it canon that the opposite was true.

The DM was so utterly reasonable. Honestly I would have just said "You all die because God teleports you to deep space beyond the galatic ridge"..........

>>25082568

A TPK does not solve problems with a campaign. First and foremost, a DM should always look for alternatives, as well as take a good, hard look at whether he has mismanaged expectations. Even if they haven't, figure out how to take the campaign in a new direction.

A TPK ENDS campaigns.

Unless you really want to lose players and forget about running a game, you don't do this without players signalling this is ok with them. It's a sign of a bad DM.
>>
>>25082590
You killed a messenger and believed because of that you should be able to kill God?

Do you realize how silly that sounds? :|
>>
>>25082641
Actually we should have ripped his throat out.
>>
>>25082641
While you're right that a TPK ends a campaign, you have to understand that you can't blame the DM for this TPK. He warned the players, explained the situation, and then his party literally committed suicide. I'm all for being merciful and letting some things slide just for rule of cool, but his players literally challenged God to fisticuffs.

They DESERVED to die.
>>
>>25082684
I'm now imagining the character sheets trying to actually kill the DM, and him just taking them out to a bin in the backyard and burning them.
>>
>>25082608

From what was posted, sure didn't seem that (in-game) it had been established he was omnipotent. The fact that the players could force a meeting with "God" when he didn't want one showed that he really wasn't omnipotent.

The DM mismanaged the game badly, then decided to implode his game by doing a TPK. Reasonable would be to call a short recess, look over his notes, figure out a new direction to take the game.

See, a good DM will roll with the punches and find ways to make their campaign more awesome regardless of what hairbrained thing their players have done. Bad DMs just throw fits and do the "rocks fall, everyone dies" bit.

Unless ending the campaign (and likely, any interest by the players to ever play the DM's games again) on a sour note is what the DM intends.
>>
>>25082708
Thats a great metaphor. Its like if the characters. Not the players mind you, the CHARACTERS, tried to kill the DM. Its not only impossible, its so impossible its funny.
>>
>>25082731
Like I said, I'm all for being reasonable and trying to work WITH my players, but come on. They attacked GOD. Really? You want me to NOT kill them? If there was ever a 100% justified total party kill, it was this one.
>>
>>25082684

Another course would have been the party already broken and lying bleeding being rescued by some other over-god entity, maybe even Allah for all we care and introduce the twist that the apocalypse wasn't scheduled but the division of his faith source made him divide and that half was powered by the faith of all those rapture cults or something. Then you'd have the players invading the angelic courts in heaven following clues in Dante's Divine comedy or something, and with a leveled play field reuniting both aspects of "god" and fixing the world to pre-rapture status.

But the DM was kind of reasonable that trying to outright kill God was impossible, specially that he gave a lot of warnings.
>>
>>25082731
Pretty much. If the DM had let us get Lucifer or Odin, we would've had no trouble with this. But nope!
>>
>>25082731
He showed up because they provoked him. Then he effortlessly annihilated them.

The other gods were apparently scared shitless of him(why else would they settle for "scavanging", and not do so until AFTER he's "left"?).

How does that not help prove his omnipotence?
>>
>>25082763
You know what this is like? Its like if a group of AMOEBAS were trying to kill a human, and lost when he sneezed on them, and in the underworld though "Well golly, if only we had 2-3 ANTS helping us, then that Human wouldn't have stood a chance!'

>>
>>25082792
How exactly?
>>
>>25082684

No. The DM took the easy way out. The coward's way out.

I know I would have taken on the challenge of turning this to my (as a DM) advantage. The party signalled QUITE EARLY what they wanted to do. The DM had all the warning in the world, yet held fast to some horribad story he had preplanned.

I completely blame the DM for this TPK, because there were so many great ways to make the campaign brilliant, and he chickened out to save his railroad.

>>

Ok, there are some things a DM can't just *Change* to suit his party. If you establish in session 1, that the world is FLAT, then the players know not to sail over the edge. Suddenly making the world round just because they won't stop sailing west is pussying out and ruining consistency just to deal with their stupid.
>>
>>25082830
Generally gods don't fear anything.

>>
>>25082806
>>25082806
>The DM had all the warning in the world
and the PC had all the warning in the world that their actions would have one result. So they are equally if not more dickheads than the DM.

now BOTH could have avoided this by having a conversation outside of character about what they wanted the game to be like and working some stuff out.

But if you tell the players repeatedly "if you do this you will die" and then the pcs DO that, you should kill them, because you should stick to your word
>>
>>25082790

This is another problem with the naysayers.

Too many are confusing how they understand/perceive God with the in-game "God" of the game in question.

You can't use the God from the Bible, because the DM badly presented him in a way that negated any hint of omnipotence.

Understand clearly - I agree with the argument of God being omnipotent, but you are confusing the actual understanding of an omnipotent God...

...with the mishmash, badly setup "God" the DM put together, very much like what you see in a SMT game. Statted, and acting very much unlike an omnipotent God. They should have been outmaneuvered at every turn if the DM's presentation of God was even close.

Yeah and from what the OP said the DM had already used up most of them. The only things that were left were rocks fall, everyone dies or Tarrasque appears you are fucked. DM chose option two for the setting.

This is a hobson's choice for the DM. If YHVH dies (he allows the players a shot and they win) then the game is over since reality disappears. If he pulls any shenanigans (which tbh he kinda did) the players call bullshit and come and bitch on /tg/.

At least this way there is a possibility of the group or some of the group staying around. Maybe after some tempers have cooled.

On second thought, maybe Urobuchi wouldn't be so bad.
>>
>>25082842

Y'see, you made a very simple mistake.

When you tell a player the world is flat, they will, inevitably, attempt to PROVE/DISPROVE that notion.

This is the nature of gaming. Players will always try to explore the limits of their game world.

It is up to the DM to make that exploration and/or attempt to disprove that element AWESOME.

Agreed. The DM was at least trying to get across that this guy was all-powerful. The other gods feared him, he could do anything the plot demanded, and killed the party in 3 seconds flat.
>>
>>25082806
How is ended the story 'saving his railroad'? The only other possible option I can think of is that God just instantly changed the personalities/motives/ideas of the characters to NOT want to kill him, but surely that's worse, right? Better to end a campaign ruined by shit players than to force them unto tracks as you're implying he did.
>>
>>25082901
We DID. He suggested going to Greek + Egypt. However, because we planned on total divine genocide, we were going to kill them once YHVH was gone. We even discussed how while we were there.

Then Helios somehow fucking knows we had that discussion.

It saved his railroad, because the players were not allowed to go off the tracks he laid.

As in, "either go this EXACT way, or I'm TPKing you".

The DM in question needs to grow up and learn to roll with the punches. Take a short 15 minute break to figure out a new direction if the players are committing to something you completely didn't want/expect.

Heck, sit down with them and have an OOC discussion, explain that you may have misread their intent, and give them a peek into the workings of your game to tell them WHY you would prefer they not do this.

It's far too often I hear people say "shit players", when it's more a case of a bad/that guy DM. Even so-called "shit players" can turn out great if the DM gets their act together.
>>
>>25083151

I wouldn't have statted Him, specifically so I could listen to them whine after they do something which I repeatedly tell them is a bad idea.

Then I would have lapped their tears off the table and left in disgust at the babies I have to DM.

The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

You can go anywhere and do anything EXCEPT do this shit right here.

>>
....i wonder if people remember that D&D is meant to be fun for everyone? DM and players BOTH.Personally I've always been a fan of simple dungeon bashes. light on plot heavy on fighting. I find when there's alot of plot driven stuff there's always that one guy (usually plays a rogue) who wants to take a route only he could do.
>>
>>25083267
He gave no impression that he wasn't having fun, right up until his party did something stupid and died for it.
>>
>>25083229

Uh, I'm not the player who posted about the DM.

I just think it's silly that BECAUSE this particular campaign was religious, everyone assumes THEIR understanding of God is what the DM presented.

It's not. The DM clearly did NOT present God, he presented a "God". Lady of Pain is a clear example of how an omnipotent being should be portrayed. Said DM also could easily have turned the situation numerous times and made his "God" easily avoid any attempt to find him.

The DM's "God" was anything but omnipotent.
>>
>>25083349
I have yet to see proof that the God is the DM's campaign wasn't omnipotent.

He was statted, but if he wans't, the players would be callign bullshit on it.

If they were just suddenly willed out of existence, they would ahve just called bullshit and said the DM was just butthurt.

Really, what the DM did was the most sensible option given what the party did.
>>
>>25083267

Most of the naysayers here have forgotten that, yes. It's why it disturbs me that so many of them are so quick to think a TPK is the right thing to do.

It's the LAST thing you should do.

Ah well.
>>
>>25082013

Except that's not even right you retard. The line says "and the LORD was with Judah, and he drove out the inhabitants of the mountain but could not drive out those of the valley because they had iron chariots."

Judah, the MAN, drove out the mountain men, but could not kill the men of the valley because they had superior weaponry.

At least trying to do it without any kind of plan beyond "Let's get him here and kill his ass lulz"

I mean, damn, one of the 4e games I'm in, we're pretty much going into the Nine Hells to kick Asmodeus off his throne(one player wants to rule instead, the rest of us have our own reasons for going there). We didn't just go right down to the Ninth Layer and kick him in the kneecaps. We're still in the Third Layer trying to rally support for a revolution, and currently trying to escape to the Fourth Layer because we heard Asmodeus knows we're there and is coming up to "meet" us.

We're not about to stand our ground and fight him because we KNOW we're in no way prepared for a fight with him yet.
>>
>>25083919
Yeah, but this is Yahweh we're talking about. There is no way to win. The player got cocky after defeating Metatron, and even now is probably typing a response saying "IF ONLY LUCIFER OR ODIN WAS HELPING US", when as mentioned, they weren't going to be useful here.
>>
>>25083919
I'm willing to gamble that anything short of a TPK would have been interpreted as a set-back. He spares them and brings them into His army? Good, now we can betray him. We only killed his Avatar? Okay, how do we find the real one, then? It's clear these guys were going maximum murderhobo, which means they probably weren't going to stop until they either took a big dump on the DM's setting, or died and came to complain about it on /tg/.

It was shortly after they ran into Odin and asked him to help. Odin said no because the Norse were pretty happy with how things were already. I had sort of figured that they would react to a God War with all the glee of a kid in a candy shop, so I figured they wouldn't help.

After that, the player realized that if the Norse weren't helping then this was nearly doomed to fail, and tried to talk everyone out of it. Jeff rolled for an attack, the player went with it and Jeff got a lucky crit.

It was kind of funny because the guy Jeff killed was the group's doctor/healer.

>>

It sounds like he broke the system. In the future, talk to your players about these things before throwing ridiculous threats at them. They may be able to take it, but it undermines the ability of the rest of the parry to contribute.
>>
>>25085106
Pretty much.

>>25085151
Sort of. Yahweh wasn't supposed to actively appear at any point. He just set the stage and left before the character creation. When He had come and gone though, there was a wave of worship pertaining to Him as he wasn't all that picky about who He raptured. He didn't really care about the differences between Christians or Muslims due to the Quran and Bible being really similar, and He even threw a bone to people who, despite not believing in Him, were genuinely good people at heart and did actually help make the world a better place.

A lot of those that were left behind panicked and cults devoted to Yahweh started springing up all over with the hopes that He'd come back and get them. When the rest of the gods came, humanity was pretty scared and had no idea what to do.

His actions were supposed to have a lasting effect, but He Himself was never supposed to appear. The cults carried the impression that even though Yahweh was not physically there, He still had a presence.

>>
In my humble opinion, several things have been made clear:
The GM made a post-apocolypse God War setting. (Awesome)
The PCs decided the gods were doing crap all so they would kill them all, and proceed to make quick work of several.(Awesome)
They get it into their heads that killing the biggest most impossibly strong God of gods is the best.(Idea so bad it is awesome)
GM established that God is not present and impossible to destroy as part of the setting. (Fine. Setting is setting)
PCs, who failed to defeat certain clusters of gods, continue with impossible plan by calling out God by killing preists.(Awesomely stupid)
PCs manage to kill messenger of God telling them to back off and basically tell God it's him or them. God shows up as honors them by giving them the death they asked for. (Predictable)
Player tells story to tg, expecting them to agree they should have killed God. (just sad really)
This thread. (GOD-TIER AWESOME)

Have I got that right?
>>
>>25085599
I have told it once before.
The whole campaign was exactly like that. It was amusing seeing the logical inconsistencies he would come up with. He had a mind mindbogglingly poor understanding of economics... which was a problem when your campaign was two business majors who wanted to buy out a criminal underground. Sure, he could tell us no, but after an hour, we realized he didn't know *how* he could tell us no, and we were going in circles, while one man with a giant sack just 'took all the money from the docks, and then he puts it in the bank, and then the crime gang keeps all the money'.

Pretty much. The players were dumbasses for coming on here and thinking we'd agree that Yahweh is killable. But this game sounds fantastic.
>>
I think the only mistake the GM made with the godslayers was forgeting the full extent of God's powers. Probably because he didn't expect to need them. It's like when Superman fights a rediculously strong guy then remembers he can just fly and fry him.
I get that God just wanted to chill in heaven or whatnot, so he didn't thwart them before they killed his messenger, but after that battle, the godslayers should just looked up and seen the angel standing unharmed next to the first priest they killed, and suddenly every step they took to call out God was undone. "Now you see what you truly face." Poof. Angel disappears. I would leave them with whatever damage and experience they had earned as well, but no loot.
>>
>>25082590
By that logic, my Only War guardsman should be able to go toe to toe with Abbadon, if not the chaos gods themselves.
