http://tgchan.org/kusaba/questdis/res/69289.html#69425

You are a human-form gargoyle crafted of marble set to protect a small town on the frontier of the wild darkness. Your people are still ignorant of what you are, and rightfully so.

Knowledge of what you are would simply prove that they fear you or the monsters among them tempt your destruction.

Last night: The Lady of Teeth had laid seige to Hearthson and Angel successfully defeated the wicked Unseelie Fae with the aid of the new Child- Gargoyle.

After inheriting the Fae's wicked teeth, Angel is told by the other Gargoyle that Lady Manse demands his presence.

The Gargoyle's stone runs cold as he realizes just how much of this disaster upon Hearthson is his own fault.

Lady Manse's fury, barely constrained, she chastises the Angel's absolute and horrendous failure, save for a caveat.

This attack was an act of aggression by the Fae, thus allowing her leeway in the council of other aristocrats to push for a war with the Unseelie within this area. One that would be respected as a proper retaliation that would not suffer intervention by the Seelie due to the fickle nature of Fae Law.

However, with Angel's failure, Lady Manse must still carry out punishment, and gives the gargoyle a choice:

To learn its original name, from the time that it lived as a human, such a thing that could cause the Gargoyle to go mad, become either demon or fae, or even perish altogether.

Or

To have its wings descuplted and sent into the deep wilderness where few men of society have ever dared to tread.

Angel has one night to decide.

Awaken Gargoyle, The Night is Dark.
>>
(I'm going to start with posts that happened after Lady Manse left the church...)
>>
It dawns on you that there will be much healing to do... and that aside, you still have a decision that you must make, one that will require the counsel of those that you would count on as your friends, as well as charges...

That thought warms and saddens you at the same time, and you hear the voice of the Lady of Teeth within you laughing, she drinks upon your misery... The Wench...

"How many died in the attack?" You whisper.

None want to answer, yet Clegane is the one that does," Still counting... I healed most of the injured.. the ones I could find... I've never known a fae to be so aggressive and bold..."

Alice picks up," The Unseelie are very different.. and it may just as well be that their leader had a chip on her shoulder..."

An awkward silence follows, and you bring up, the greatest cause for concern.

"Well... She has given me two damning choices... To Learn my name... or face a trial pf an exile..."

Alice bites her lip, Marble speaks," Whatever you do, you must not learn your name, I... I... Gargoyles that learn their name.. They are not who they once were.. And yet they are... You very may well destroy yourself in trying to remember. . . And that's not to say that it would be your choice... The making of a Gargoyle separates the inherent evil and good in a person as Demon and Fae. . . Yet it only works when those two forces are already catalyzed by demons or the light of fae. . . To learn a name is to make those parts force a soul whole again... Among the Masons, we rarely see cases where a Gargoyle remains... a gargoyle... One force or the other takes over... Or the the Gargoyle dies... That's what y-" Marble silences herself and turns around. Not saying another word.

"I... Understand... thank you Marble... Perhaps if I make this choice... I'll be an exception.... Alice... If I take exile, I will lose my wings and be sent into the wilderness... Do you know... what lies out there?"
>>
Alice clasps her hands over her mouth gently as she thinks.... Removing them, she starts.

"Beyond this city, from what my mentors have told me, there are titans that sleep within the land, dragons that dwell within caverns, and worse things that lurk in the dark.. There are people there that embrace demons and consort with spirits.. however they could no longer be called 'Human'. I don'y know of what you'll find exactly but..."

Alice gives a hard swallow and shakes her head as tears begin to well up in her eyes," You heard Victora, she means to declare war upom the Unseelie. Fae law dictates that the Seelie will not become involved... Yet Fae law similarly dictates that should the Unseelie or Seelie be purged from the land, the remaining opposite must purge themselves as well. They are my friends far more than humans have been... I...I.. I need to rally the Seelie... I need to give them reasons to fight... I cannot let this witch and her demons destroy those I care for..." Alice steps away from the other people in the room, tears streaming down her face.
"I'm sorry, I- I'm sorry..."

Pastor Clegane clears his throat," Manse has decided to involve the nobility... and with that ring... she has all the means she needs to start a war... I have no doubt she will use it to convert our own people into demons, by force if she need to... Angel... I cannot abide by this woman... And I... as much as it pains me, understand when arrogant mistakes are made. My time as one of the men embracing demons and consorting with spirits within the wilderness... I hurt many good people that should live here now... I may have to return fully to those ways to stop further bloodhshed at the hands of the nobility..." The man clenches his fists until his knuckles go white.

The three before you have spoken their case... yet Marble seems neutral in the terms, aside from having you learn your name... It may be keen to speak with her in private.
>>
At a sound, the four of you look over to the newborn gargoyle, as she's finally used her voice to bring attention to her take on the matter.

"I... I will protect this village... No matter... what you choose. It... it is mine. I care not if you learn your name and die or if you take exile. No more will die from monsters..." There seems to be a struggle within her for a moment before she speaks with more serenity," These demons within me... they are demons of war. I will not let them win.. The Faeries want to protect their home as well.. That woman is evil... Yet she is also powerful. . ."

Marble stares intently at the other Marble Gargoyle, her mind working through various thoughts," Child, you are broken. I'll fix you up... Unlike your friend, you don't have powers of regeneration."

The Gargoyle's voice whispers out gently, much like her previous manners," You have my thanks..."

Is there anything else you would like to say?
Any more opinions you would like to hear?

It seems that Alice will seek to rally the Fae, and the Pastor will seek to reconnect with his past.

You have the option of speaking with Marble in private after the other two leave, it seems that she's hiding something...

The New Gargoyle is on your side.. though she may be an uncertain ally given what she's been forced to do...
>>
You look to Marble, and then glance at the other three in the room. You get the feeling that you'd really like to hear what Marble has to say...

And she won't be speaking without being alone with you.

"Alice, is it my understanding that you won't seek a full-scale war on humans?"

The young woman shakes her head even as more tears stream out,"I... I don't even know if I can convince them... But it would indeed be a war against those that threaten their lives... though it would need to be the Seelie, and not the Unseelie..." She starts to mumble at the end.

You had some concern that she might intend to declare war on humanity... You still aren't certain as to how exactly this will develop...

"Alice, Pastor... Gargoyle child... Could you please leave Marble and I alone for some moments? I'd like to speak with Marble..."

With some surprise, the two humans turn and look at Marble, who stares at you.

They leave for outside with the other Gargoyle, and only you and Marble are left within the church.

The woman grabs you by the now fully regenerated hand and takes you to your pedestal,"Come with me." She says, and not another word.

The two of you approach the pedestal, and Marble bids that you touch it... you comply and you feel mana flowing back into you.

"This... this is your pedestal. Within this, the ashes of your bones have been molded into the stone so that you may stabilize during the day... It recharges your mana and brings centering to the inner turmoil... You could say that it's a meditation... Upon the back, set in letters known only to the Masons... They are inscribed by their makers... It would say, 'Awaken Gargoyle, the night is dark.' "

The words... they feel familiar to you, right somehow...

Marble continues," I am the one... I am the one that inscribed your Pedestal. However... I am not your maker."

Current Magic Tree. With spell-type updates. I probably missed a couple.
>>
>Demonic

>Curse of Pain: Inflicts selected target creature and those within a meter radius a curse of increasingly agonizing pain. The more mana used in the spell, the more intense the pain is. The curse is more easily fascilitated with an item of personal possession and if infusion is cast with it, can generate a voodoo doll. 3exp

>Voice of Sin: Your voice whispers into the hearts of mortals luring out their inner desires and drawing demons to possess their body. This ability can be used to lure a demon into a host, or it can be used as a means of suggestion to encourage or discourage certain behaviors.3exp

>Evil Bolt: Harnessing the power of malice and killing intent, your draw forth an arcane bolt of pure energy that can either be used to impale or infect targets with such wrath. 3exp

>Torment: An improvement from Curse of Pain, Torment harasses not only the body, but the mind. Drawing out primal fears and breaking the heart and minds of the average mortal, or weaker Fae. 5Exp

>Desecration: You taint a given area, twisting plant-life into thorny, hard and poisonous counterparts. Mortals that walk upon the land without your protection will easily become sick or be influenced by demons. Water will turn into poison or even blood to reflect the tainted nature of the environment. Desecrated land is a sanctuary for demons, and demonic spells cast are cast at half cost for full effect.

>Withering Aura: Your body facilitates desiccation, drawing out moisture from living things and causing decay. Your aura weakens those you come into contact with. Maintaining cost is 3 mana per round. 4Exp.
>>
>Call of the Damned: An improvement upon voice of Sin that allows you to call upon host-less demons. Calling upon them will likely cause them to possess the closest and most suitable host bodies. If no hosts are to be found, they may be spoken with. Attempts to devour them will force engagement with all of them at once. **Should not be used without Demon-kin** 3Exp

>Pale Light: You wield a ghastly illumination that drains the life out of plant and animal alike. Demons are not susceptible to the light, and Fae are weakened at high intensities. Primal beings often have far too much life force to be affected by this magic. 3exp

Anyone here? Heh..
>>
Oh shit. Hi.
>>
>>25078487
Lurker since the first night here, but probably going to have to sleep sooner rather than later, sorry.
>>
>>25078598

It's cool man, I'm just taking the time right now to get all the spells and shit written up.

I figured if it was dead, at least I posted when I said I would.

And if anyone wants to argue whatever for Angel will actually end up doing, then there's that too.
>>
Let's ask Marble if we can / what would happen if we incorporated the pedestal into ourself.

Also ask if she knows who our maker is.

And the demon rtee is nice, but I've got my eyes set on electrotank.
>>
>>25078709
Oh, and how long it takes after hearing our name for the soul turmoil to kick in. Is it instant? Delayed, if so how much? Variable between gargoyles?
>>
>Fae Fire: Illuminate an enemy with the light of the Fae, and allowing you to track them wherever they go until the light finally fades. Cost: 5 mana.

>Toadstool Ring: While not a true Faerie Ring, you can call upon the forces of nature and wonder to generate a ring of Fae magic that may in turn become occupied by such denizens. Any Fae magic cast within the ring is cast at half cost. Requires 10 minutes to channel a ring of 2 meter diameter. Costs 5 Mana

>Pocket: Some Fae are especially known for their ability to hide things. Unsurprisingly, they have magic dedicated to the task! Pocket generates a compressed space that allows storage of numerous items and articles. There is a limit to this "pocket," and it can be increased. Costs 3 exp. Lasts indefinitely.

Fae Law is fickle, and by that same right, so is their magic. Pocket can only store inanimate objects upom the basis that living, moving things don't go into pockets!

>Treespeak: A Passive ability that lets you commune with the trees and plants themselves. Gathering information of events they've witnessed. Creatures that have interacted with them. Costs 2 exp

>Growth: Increases the rate that a plant or animal grows manyfold. Can be applied to an area.Costs 3 exp

>Animate Plant: Allows plant(s) and fungi to move freely, entangling creatures with roots, trapping them in branches, unleashing clouds of spores and so forth. It is a bit of a sneaky magic that can be cast from afar.. Costs 4 exp

>Telekinesis: By bending the laws of reality, you may act upon an object without being in direct contact. By empowering this spell, you squeeze the real distance between two points, allowing you to strike from afar, or retrieve an object at range. Increased mana use extends the distance that this spell takes effect. Costs 4 exp
>3 mana 10 Feet
>4 Mana 15 Feet
>5 Mana 20 Feet
>6 Mana 30 Feet
>7 Mana 50 Feet
>8 Mana 80 Feet
>9 Mana 100 feet
>>
>Faerie Light: Creates a luminous, glowing orb of varying intensity. Reveals things hidden to the naked eye through magical means or otherwise. Can be compounded with some other spells to produce an area of effect or even a remote effect. Costs 2 exp

>Dimension Door: Links two previously entered doorways to each other, allowing long-distance travel.
*Fickle

>Lunar Fire: A spell that's power is determined by the moon and its visibility. The targeted enemy is afflicted by a reality defying energy that burns only who is intended. Its flames are cold to all others, and persist so long as the moon is visible. (Single Target Spell) Costs 3 exp.

>Inner Light: You become recognized by Faeries as one of their own kin. They see the light within you and trust you far more. Causes vulnerability to Iron. Reduces cost of Fae magic. Costs 3 exp

>Fae Mind: Your inner light has settled well into your mind and you now see through the eyes of a proper Fae. Witnessing the magic and wonder, that mortals do not and becoming able to find the hidden Faeries Rings and Lei lines that dot the land.

>Enthrallment: Casting an enchantment upon the air, you can cast mortals into a state of hightened bliss or intense rage. Truly, the humans are your plaything! Demons are immune to this affect. Some Primals are especially vulnerable. Exp Cost: 3

>Hypnosis: Through direct eye contact or utilizing the magic of Faerie Light, you may hypnotize mortals into acting out your whims, forgot what they've seen, or have a generally nice day. Faerie light allows this to be done remotely, turning the spell into Wil-o-wisp. Can affect more than one target. Exp Cost 4

Sorry Snapple, it's looking like you're the only other one here.

A toast for feels that we're on /tg/ during Memorial day...

Unless you're not in the U.S. In that case...

Aside, I thought most people that partook in this quest were Euro or something.. Had a lot of talk about my quest scheduling before...
>>
>They are inscribed by their makers
why was ours not, why did marble inscribe ours if she is not our maker, did something happen to our maker, was he unable to finish his work... did something go wrong...?
>>
>>25078877
Nah, I'm in Florida. The tiny little tip of the panhandle that's still in CST. It's basically southern Alabama.

Woo.

And I thought after that 12 or so hour discussion after last thread, we would have more people.
>>
>>25078877
I'm here, but extremely uncreative and indecisive, which is why I lurk and only post when it is multiple choice and rolling generally.
And just for to keep this going I'll second Snapple, I mean nothing can go wrong while following Snapple right?
>>
>>25078918
People were hypothesizing that we gargoylized ourself for <reasons>
>>
>>25078934
People listen to what I say all the time. You just don't realize it.
>>
I'll say it, I think Snapple's a bro. Creative as shit a lot of the time. Makes some quests pretty interesting.

>>25078947
I'm assuming that you mean they listen when you go anon... Huehue... Good stuff.
>>
>>25078709
This will certainly accelerate our decent into madness...I'd rather try casting pocket on ourself and stuffing it in there (mostly, leave ourself in direct contact with a small piece of the pedestal of something), but it's worth asking if either option is doable.

Just got here, sorry I'm late.
>>
>>25078877
Im only here now but thats because i didnt know there was going to be one tonight

>(End of Session for tonight, I'll see you guys again Saturday! should be 6p.m Pacific time... 2100 servertime.)
> Saturday!
its monday
>>
>>25078976

bawww fuck.

I forgot to post that My schedule got fucked up that day. Forgot all about it.

Well. We're gonna get rolling now.
>>
>>25078760
Seconded. We really need to try and get answers on exactly how crippling, and how immediate hearing our name is likely to be.
>>
>>25078947
I've lurked other threads where you have revealed ideas you suggested while anon, so I already recognize that you are capable of good, even great, ideas. But you are still as capable of making mistakes as anyone else.
>>
Oh, and ask about Marble modding our hearing to deafen us in case we decide to go the noname route. I wanted to hear it, but just in case it's a gigantic no no even worse than I imagined.

And if having the name beamed into our head with fae magic would fuck us just as bad, because I'm 99% sure Manse could do that.
>>
>>25078969
Hey, thanks man. Is funny how the QMs of the quests I'm in tend to like me more than the other posters most of the time.
>>
>>25078947
We do at this point, you just seem a little more...aggressive in challenging previously established characterization (motivations, interest, ethical limitations previously adhered to) when writing under that particular name/trip. Which can be good when it gets the conversation going, but can also start a spiral of random screaming across the interwebs. The key word in there is "seem."

Anyhow, good to see ya Snaps, let's see if we thread the needle or go out in a blaze of glory.
>>
"What do you mean.." Your mind turns over Marble's words... the words... are not those of your maker?

You stare at the white-haired woman, her eyes looking at you nearly pleading and then away as she touches your pedestal with her left hand.

"I... knew your maker. It is why the Lady Manse knows your name..."

You features frown as you feel something very familiar, yet still only at the edge of your grasp. Turning away,"So, The Lady knows my name because of you... She took it from you.. didn't she?"

Marble looks down and fingers the tools on her work-belt gingerly,"I'm quite sorry... It means that I know your name... And I could tell it to you... Though..." She begins to shake her head, catching the dim strands of moonlight coming in through the ceiling.

"I... I need to know what your choice is, how will you answer Lady Manse? If you intend to hear your name, I may as well tell it to you now.." With a swallow and strained words, Marble spits out these last few," To refuse her the satisfaction.."

You look back to Marble, the woman's eyes are dry, yet her face is contorted in discomfort and anguish. She must have seen the sad fates of other gargoyles before yourself...

"How long... would the madness set in? How long would I have before I broke down?" Your words echo with nearly a sense of resolution. It would pain you to leave Hearthson in the hands of Manse and the mad-child gargoyle...

Marble bites her lip and then answers you,"Most Gargoyles... It's immediate. They repeat it over and over as though they have lost something dear to them... Some claw at their own bodies in fear and panic... they destroy themselves... Others, seem to remember horrors they've committed in their life... Some ask for penance, and they often become Fae... Others revel in the acts as they've reveled in their demon-side... Those... well... those tend to require extermination... There are those that fight for a long time... and just fizzle out...

(Cont.)
>>
>>25079178
...I smell infrequent but ongoing San checks...
>>
>>25079178
>It's immediate
Knew it. Time to hear the name.

No way we bad end here and now, r-right guys?
>>
There have been few in history that have heard their names... and accepted their fate... Or went mad, believing that this is only a dream...

I'm sorry... that I know your name... May God forgive me..." The woman clasps her hands together and bows her head, her body shaking.

You face her fully and place a hand upon her shoulder.

"There is no need for that. There is no god in this world... We must do what we can for ourselves..."

Marble shakes her head slowly,"No. There must be... A reason that we can keep going as we do... Something that we can hope for if we live long enough to simply die of age..." Her weathered face begins to tear up finally," We need to have hope for something... and it must be out there... We... of the Masons... Knowing the art that we know.. there must be something watching out for us..."

Your expression goes sad. as the woman before you begins to cry. This whole situation must be falling down on her... She's blaming herself.

Just to clarify, I mean literally make it a part of us. Not just inside our pocket. I'm thinking Veins of Us to go with the metal. Or maybe keep the ash if it's ash and not bones dispersed throughout us evenly.
>>
You place your other hand upon Marble's shoulder, gripping the woman firmly but gently,"This... this is not your fault. None of it is. I requested that you make the Gargoyle. You came here to aid me. And because of your intervention, this town did not go to ruin at the hands of a wrathful Unseelie. You saw not the extent of what damage that monster did to me. I incurred far more than the child did."

Marble looks up at you, eyes still together... She leans away and you release her hold upon her. She turns and holds one of her arms,"Is it your choice then... To hear your name?"

"It is, However I have... a question concerning my pedestal... It is the source of my mana.. and centering... Would it be possible.. to put it inside of me?"

Marble turns to you and looks you up and down,"You're a little small for that as it stands right now... However I may be able to incorporate parts into your form... Some Gargoyles.. erm... usually ones made of prisoners are commissioned to be sent into unknown lands and go absolutely wild... We do not see the return of many, and they are made large enough to take in their entire pedestal or simply have the remains infused in their bodies from the start.

You were made as a guardian. To keep you from absconding from your duties, you are given a pedestal.. Ah.. I'm sorry for explaining in such detail... I... I'm used to speaking to new gargoyles and having to explain such things to them extensively...

Aside, if it were discovered that I did this without Master Mason approval, it could mean my... excommunication from the Masons... In other words..."

"You are already to be hanged, and have graciously sidestepped that..." You think out loud.

Marble finishes," Yes, and this would mean that I am never considered a full Mason... By honor.. and by the order.. I would be required to cut off one of my... One of my hands... I... I don't know if I could... even for you..."

"I understand..."

Although iirc we just got the teeth of the lady, not the whole rock munching digestive tract.

That's why I was trying to get a ruling... I think SM is saying that the teeth let us EAT targets, but it's kind of iffy.
>>
>>25079883
That could be solved by getting Marble to install a hollow space in our chest with an access tunnel running up our throat to our mouth. You stare at the pedestal as the moments tick by and a thought snakes into your mind, eliciting an almost playful grin in the midst of this tense situation.

"Marble."

"What is it? Are... you ready?"

"No, not yet... about the Pedestal... Are you authorized to repair damaged ones?"

Marble's brow furrows at the notion," I... hmm... That's unlikely... they're unique to each Gargoyle.. the one thing of yours that can't be replaced... why?"

You smile wide and your teeth transform into your recently acquired chompers, courtesy of a recently deceased Fae Duchess,"What would happen... if I ate it?"

Marble's expression contorts in confusion," Eat it? What... what even... I... don't think that you can... Unless you've gotten something that allows... and the enchantment upon the stone is strong to keep it from damage, what-"

It's actually a choice?

Fuck it. It's time to see what happens.

Not like it's been terribly useful as a mana font anyway, we already have regen and the new passive should be good enough for a night's rest to refill.
Yes, I realize that we can't run back to it and get insta filled if there's a massive invasion and we need mana now.

Before Marble continues, you lunge into the Pedestal, your jaw snapping backward like a snake, courtesy of the Faerie's physiology. You rip into it and tear out chunks and chew savagely as you shred the enchantment and take in the material. The control you have over your own density allows you to reconstitute the accepted materials, crushing it smaller and smaller even as you take more.

Your feast is not a matter of hunger, yet you do indeed feel remnants of power filling you as you take in your original home... the home that you will no longer have.

>Maximum mana has increased to 35.

Marble stares at you in absolute disbelief as you finish, you look at her with your eyes glowing, power leaking before your body fixed the new adjustments.

"I... I can't believe you really just did that... Those enchantments... That maw of yours just... tore right through them.. Are you... are you alright?"

With smile mischieviously with the inhuman maw before you convert back to your original structure. "I am well. The way I see it, exile or no, I cannot simply leave my pedestal behind... Now, you need not cut off your hand as I have done this of my own accord."

"Of your own accord... I... Well I see.. that's the caveat isn't it... you've done this yourself... A sentenced Gargoyle going Rogue as it is... You... are doing this for the right reasons, aren't you?" Marble folds her arms and closes her red eyes.

With a small smile and a nod,"Of course I am. I was made to defend people. And if I live through this failure, I will correct it in the future..."

"Would you like the name now?"

"I would, though not quite yet. I have... internal affairs to sort out with these new... residents."

"Internal... affairs? I'm not quite sure I've heard of gargoyles in this day and age doing that... Most just commit legion and absorb them all... though either way can lead to madness... Though... I'm not the gargoyle... I can't know anything about it..." Marble shifts her eyes away and goes quiet for a moment,"What would you have me do?"

"Write the name upon a piece of paper and put it into my mouth. I will read it when I awaken from meditation. Until then, I would like to remain undisturbed."

Marble stares at you for a moment before going over to her trunk, pulling it open and sifting through it," I really need to be more organized... Get to it... I'll have it there while you do whatever it is... I'll go check on Alice and the Father... we'll get started on making repairs to the village and fixing up the wounded.. Though I'm not sure of the changeling... she may already be gone..."

"Changeling?" You ask, as you take a seat upon the sparse remains of your once-pedestal.

"Yes. She spoke of the Fae fondly.. declared them her family. However she's human. Sometimes the Fae take away children into their world that have the smell of magic... If the child chooses to stay, the Fae replace the child with a doppelganger. Somewhere there exists another Alice... However the other is likely to have already died or be much older depending on the time that she's spent with the Fae. Time means little to the creatures... it's just a cycle to them."

Personally I'd like to name the other gargoyle, mainly since I think her saving our ass gives us the right. But I don't want to deal with a derailing argument before we go on, so if anyone opposes us giving a name to Marble for safekeeping I'd say lets move on to meditation time.

Not really, my gut reaction would probably be "Hope" which I admit is pretty generic but kind sums up what she is, beautiful, strong, utterly damned and the being we are trusting the safety of our town to upon our inevitable demise. Plus I think a positive name might help balance the overt demonic influence from her feeding habits.

If anyone's got something better, I'm open to ideas. I just think our window of opportunity before Manse names her is closing.
>>
You begin to enter trance and feel yourself entering your inner world at your seat... However, as you begin to drift within, one thought comes to mind...

"Marble..."

The woman shuffles through he things, finding everything but actual parchment,"Yes, Angel, what is it?"

"One last thing before I go... I do not want Manse to name the child... Tell her... that her name is... Hope... The Hope of... Hearth...son..." You feel your vision fade away as you enter the ether of your inner world.

The Gate of demon is bound by brambles and thorns coming from the Primal domain and barred with pillars of light with the same glow of the realm of Fae.

The Gate of Fae, is shinining, its power having evolved greatly, and recently. Through the open gate, you see hundreds of little eyes that lie beyond and one pair, mad and with a wide toothed grin....

The Domain of the Primal has Water surging by the green and very natural, earthen energy. You smell brine... the power of the sea... could the Scylla have ended up there?

Which domain will you enter first?

Weighing your options, you enter the realm of the Primal, figuring that you should at least get the Scylla on your side before dealing with the malicious Lady of Teeth and her many little minions...

You push against the rippling portal and through the watery power that has filled it. You soon find yourself in the Green forest-like environment with a surging ocean pushing back and forth through the floor, the mass of water in the distance.

In short order, you are pounced by the feral spirit of the wolves, Alpha, knocking against your ethereal form in this domain, yet not taking you down as it rightly should.

"You." Alpha growls, the spirit not seeming all that happy to see you.

"Me. What is it? What's wrong?"

The Tree-like spirit of the troll pushes through the waters within the realm and looks down at you... it seems as friendly as usual... almost as though it simply likes being here...

Alpha however, snarls," You. You have not kept your promise of aiding my wolves... I should never have made such a deal... I was wrong... to think that they should fear you... and that witch.. that Human aristocrat witch..."

"You speak as though you've never been human..."

Alpha growls and pushes away from you, moving through the surge of surreal waters without looking back at you," I am a spirit of wolves the human I took had been bitten in death throes with me during my time as a proud beast... I took his body for myself. I. Was never human." Alpha turns back to you now, it calms down somewhat.

"Greater threats exist in this land. Your Lady of the Manse. She threatens the wolves, she calls us animals... I could chew her throat and it wouldn't be good enough... Yet.. this place has its own problems... The Scylla here is like us, yet spites us. She fills this realm of water and we can do little to supress her while dealing with the Wendigo as they push. Now there's this Fae..."
>>
Alpha growls low and deep," This has been difficult work, Angel... And you have broken our promise... I only ally myself with you know as you serve my interest. Demons and Fae fighting in lands belonging to my pack? Wolf blood will be spilled..."

>Alpha will aid you so long as it involves defending the wolves in some way.

The Troll looks at you peacefully, yet then turns mournfully to the surging waters.

>The Troll is indifferent and will help you... However it would like the Scylla dealt with. That would make it happy.

>>
>>25081634
>Alpha
Then we both have a vested interest in preventing either Fae or Deamon from gaining a foothold in this land. As for the Lady Manse, I admit she must be dealt with, but you must understand that I am not yet strong enough to challenge her successfully.

Then let's see what the heck the Scylla is up to.
>>

>>[]Subdue the Scylla.

"I wish no further harm to come to your wolves as much as my own charges," You begin explaining to Alpha...," Yet Manse is putting both in danger with her war, I would rip out her throat myself if I could for she seeks the aid of ... demons to help her win."

Alpha growls and a portion of this realm trembles," This I know... The only reason I have not spat upon our deal. Take care of the Scylla. for now you still have my support..."

"I will." You move through the waters as the Troll bows the head of its form to you in passing.

You see the power of the Scylla welling up ahead... Between the Troll, Alpha... and the others... it strikes you... have you truly tapped into all the power they have to offer?

As you near the rolling sea, a wolf's head forms out of the foam and it's maw opens to reveal the form of a human woman, in the nude, yet ethereal like everything else.

"Wellllcome... to my... Oasis among these... Land-walkers..." The woman speaks, her voice is calm, almost soothing, enchanting...

"You... You do not hate me?"

"No. I do not. We of the earth and sea, we that are old as the land itself take no side in such conflict. You devoured me. It is... only natural... as I had intended for those Sirens..."

"Sirens? You mean the mermaids?"

"They are indeed tricky ones. Took you for a fool? Hmm... Noble hearts are the easiest... They love to play at drowning and eat the sailors when they try to save them... Yet... you are young... such a simple... thing..." The Scylla goes on and on with simple banter, avoiding the reason you've come here...

"It is good... to know the identity of those... creatures. I thank you... However I must insist..." You gesture to the waters invading the land," That you give the other two residents a bit of room?"

The woman smiles upon the tongue of the wolf, that likewise turns its maw up into a grin,"Oh, I don't believe that's possible. I am comfortable right where I am... And my power... it spills over, why should I do anything?"
>>
The Scylla continues," I would propose you this deal. Ignore the plight of those two. Allow them to drown in my sea. I am... content here... I will aid you... If only... Out of boredom as I wait for this prison to collapse."

"Collapse? You think that I intend to perish soon?"

The woman slowly shakes her head," By the seas no... I wager that you'll live quiiite a while with the things you've gotten yourself into.

I am old though, very old. I will live again, someday... However... for now the oceans have one less Scylla..." The ethereal woman winks at you.

"Oh, and my name is Eurybae. You can call me Eury"

You stare at Eurybae, the woman smiling playfully within the maw of the seafoam Wolf.

With a chide of that enchanting, singsong voice, she says," Well now creature, what will it be? Will you allow me to drown the land-dwellers beneath my power? Or..."

You shake your head," You forget where you are, Your place here, why should the very being in which you reside, take your side over these two? I will not do it, you will submit to me."

The Scylla's smile grows so sinister and sharp that it seems as though it could tear the ether itself," Very well, you speak true and bold words, creature... However I will not submit quite as easily as you might think..."

You begin to assert your influence over this realm and muster whatever you can to push back the Scylla, her sea, and her power.

The true expanse of her will is beyond your measure however, As the Foam-wolf dissolves, you see a gigantic wave build in the ethereal ocean, Scylla standing in its path in front of you,"How... feeble an attempt.. Perhaps I should not have offered to swim with your school? You will swim with mine soon enough...

The Wave Crashes into you, pushing you back even as you fight against it... You push and you push, however the dominating will of the Scylla is nearly unnerring.

You see Alpha and the Troll swept away by the tsunami as well... the two trapped within this realm as you are pushed out and the same water-like energy surges back into the crossroads... the realm of the Primal blocked with water, and the Brambles holding back the demonic realm melt away.

You hear the mocking of Eurybae from the Primal realm," Seems I get my wish either way... You should have given me your blessing in the first place...." her speech devolves to chuckles.

"Perhaps I should free the demon here? Fae are such... Boring creatures... Delicious though... That Greater demon in the other realm's been giving me the eye since I've gotten here however... Perhaps I should pay him a proper visit?"
>>
Looksey there, guys. It dissolved anyway.

Yep. Whelp, looks like we either beg fae for assistance, or we just drop whatever borders we have between the realms and see if we can snipe anyone of significance (wendigo lord, lady of teeth and scylla) in the free for all. Not the best of options
>>
The waters surging from the Primal realm begin to twist and reach for the remaining bars on the Realm of the Demon. You see the cold and hungry eyes of the Greater Wendigo peering at you from just inside, the gaunt jaws of the creature staring from inside," It... Seems that... You are... Losing your hold... My... Friend... Hueh... Hueh... Hueh.....:" The creature cackles through the bars, as it makes a reach for the Faerie prison only to recede at the touch of the light.

"Not yet... Ohhh... Not yet... Though I will have you yet.... Friend..." The creature stares at you, not just with hunger but Malice... Hatred that very well would melt the ice that it commands....

Don't tell them it's a naming. The LoT is tricky. Just tell her bad things a brewin' fast.
Then jump back to reality and since this is probable still night we might need some sort of restraints.

Hope we don't kill everyone when we read the paper.

>>25083907
Like it even matters. We are the worst Gargoyle in all time. We led the Fae into the town which gave Miss bitch a free check to start a war and we brought her ring of power straight to her. Honestly at this point them taking over could only improve the situation.

>>25084124
Yes. The dice aren't helping though.
>>
You turn back to the primal realm, you need to stop this torrent before it frees the Wendigo... it snaps to your attention... Why would she even care to release the Wendigo... unless...

You see a water image of Eurybar appear before the gate to the Primal even as more tumbles through.

"Oh, to think you still believe that you can oppose me..."

"I will not go down... without a fight.... Why would you release the Wendigo?!"

"I have decided to free the Wendigo as you defy my whims and they want at you. Simple... really..." You lose ground in the crossroads, the water creeping out touches the fae-bars that keep the Wendigo imprisoned, causing the light to wane.

"What is it... what do you want?!" You cry out as your efforts are trivial before the surging waves of the malevolent sea.

"Nothing. I don't want a... single... thing..."

Your power wanes against the surging tide that Eurybae pours forth, however just when all seems lost, you see a tooth pushing back against the ethereal waters.

And then... another... and another... And soon there's an entire wave of the teeth, forming an impressive maw around you, pushing back the tides.

With a glance, you see that one Fae bar had broken, yet it is quickly being replaced by the Teeth, forcing light into the structure.

You hear a familiar voice echo within the crossroads," It seems as though the monster needs aid... Is this not for which it was made?"

You turn to see a shining embodiment of magic and light observing you from behind... A viscious smile from the teeth that dwell in her maw... The Lady of Teeth is lending you her aid.

"Just... having a fair bit of trouble with demons... Here to lend me a hand?"

"Not a hand, but a tooth. We will help you at once, that is the truth."

The Duchess waves her hand and between yours and her might... Eury is pushed back deep into the realm of the Primal. You hear the groaning sound of the Troll and the howl of Alpha as land is restored to the realm.
>>
A fine mess you've gotten this chap into, /tg/. Time to enjoy the ride.
>>
>>25084249
I'm honestly not sure how I feel about a rolled 71 "for luck" resulting in what I consider a best case scenario...I'm really expecting her to try to eat us now.
>>
You turn to the Duchess, a bit weathered, yet very grateful," I, thank you for your assistance..."

"The beast sought to free the demons of cold, its soul was powerful and old. Surprising to see that you thought to win, yet now I have requests, oh where to begin..." The shining soul puts a finger to her mouth in contemplation....

You almost don't like where this is going...

>[] Listen to her most immediate demands....
Then we're going to need to tell her that things are about to get really bad really fast. She has the upper hand in negotiations, she knows it.

>>
>>25084322
>her demands....
Oh. Oooooh! I really hope I'm wrong, but I just figured out what I'd demand in her shoes, and it's our own stupidity that she would even have access to it. Man I hope I'm wrong, but if not that 71 is pretty acceptable for her saving our ass.

>>
>>25084529
Oh, I was meaning to ask, would the fae have reacted negatively to use breaking our oaths to Alpha and the Troll, or are bargains not sacred to them in this setting?
>>
>>25084811

Sorry for the bit of pause, had to do some consoling. The shoulder to lean on consoling.

Fae do very much like their deals, however not all are Fae. and technically there is no bargain with the Troll, only Alpha.

Aside, a Fae Duchess may very well know the secret to creating binding contracts. Such are matters of fae law after all.
>>
You stare at the Duchess's form, her maw smiling back at you in an almost sinister fashion. With another wave of her hand, the Gate of the Primal is also barred with Faerie light.

"They will not be getting out...This, I have quite little doubt... Our business with you..."

"Your requests..." You concede to her whims graciously... she restored order so quickly... it is the very least you can do.

"Bowing its head? If only it did that before we were dead. Nay. We have but one request, and it is certain that you must say yes."

"Yes... yes... what is it that you want?" It strikes you that she's been just as talkative as she was in life... though a bit less condescending..

"Yes, ah the point. We would have you fight the war of Manse with the Unseelie fae. Mind your tongue before you say nay, lest I unleash the horrors from which they stay. Consider for a moment, and waste no time... For we know yours runs short, and we care little for the charges of thine."

You look to the gate of the Fae, its power surges into the crossroads... with a glance, you see that the bars that bind the demon still have the Wendigo lurking behind them, and conversely, the Primal gate has been restored, however its power is restricted...

As it stands here... The Fae has taken control...

"Ah, and as for the terms... You shall not harm any within the Unseelie court.

You shall seek a way to free us of this prison.

And you shall refer to us as "My Queen" Is it agreed?"

It say we can't harm any of them period. It probably includes self-defense as well. Either way we just become someone's bitch whether it's the demon's, Manse's, or the Duchess right here.

>>
>>25085120
>In all likelihood they would end up consumed rather than released.
We can force her hand.
Force her to agree to less shit terms, or she goes down with us.
>>
I think we should not merely have "order" under this deal, but have her assist us in subjugating all the forces that would conspire against us. Once they are under our thumb, we would have a chance of doing the same to her as well, and being master of our own mind.

Besides, I'm no fan of the hag anyways, and our pals seem to be on the path to fighting her. I would amend the part about the Unseelie. We shall do no harm to any Unseelie fae that does not harm us or enable such, extend also to those we are responsible for.
>>
>>25085234
She isn't going anywhere and we are allowed self defense.

We'll still call her queen if she wants but she better keep those damn demons locked down. same with the dickass scylla.
>>
>>25085120
Oh, so we actually do have some leverage. Except she's fae and is probably not motivated by threat of oblivion. Still worth a shot though.
>>
>>25085259
>allowed self defense
And defense f our charges against unprovoked attacks.

Although we'd need to hammer out a definition of provocation. Can have the entire village die because some dummy killed a few tooth fairies.
>>
>>25085259
The issue with calling her queen is whether that literally will make us her subordinate in the eyes of the Unselee court. Could complicate things, no?
>>
>>25085304

Or at least proper reparations. Say such was to occur, then for the next 5 years, whenever a tooth is lost or removed, it is placed in location "X" so they can acquire it.

Glaring at the Fae duchess, you turn over thoughts in your mind... You consider for a moment, forcing your exit and learning your name... though to do so would be a mad endeavor...

Similarly to this, you could do the unthinkable and pry open the gate of demon, allowing the two to battle with as much as they inherently loathe each other...

However... now is... the time for some diplomacy...

"I would present a counter-proposal..." You say, the Duchess perking to attention and a touch of curiosity.

"We are rather certain that we hold the cards to this game. To force our hand could prove... quite the shame..." Her voice echoes in this world, a fringe of noble fury.

You are undeterred," By learning my name, I haven't the faintest clue what will happen to me. In all likelihood, you will be destroyed."

The duchess simply shrugs," We are Fae, and we are noble. Our concern is for our subjects, aside ourselves. This Lady of Teeth has lived for quite some time... It would not bother her for another to take her name." You notice that this has caused her to drop her rhyming speech...

"Well, if you care so little then, is it enough to hold your position upon these requests? As for my own, I could abide by only attacking Unseelie in retaliation for my own being or charges... I could abide naming you my queen, yet I could not abide by seeing you freed."

The Lady of Teeth is silent for a time, yet she finally answers,"We would have you fight in the war to come with the Unseelie, to protect them as you have protected Man. You have become so much more than they however... you smell so very Fae... Why fight for them? Even your Alice agrees that the humans are less than the Fae."

You shake your head, defiant," I defend them as I was once a man. I may never be again... I am not the person I was... And this is what I am."

The Lady of Teeth grins," Such convictions.. One last proposal for the creature..."
>>
"You shall stop the one called Victora Manse, even should your mind be lost. You shall deprive her of her life, her dignity, and her victory.

You shall defend the Unseelie as you do every other peaceful creatures you come across...

And finally, you'll work out some superstition about lost teeth. The next Lady of Teeth will need them for more children...

And last... We open this agreement up for amending with mutual agreement..."

Her sudden change of heart takes you aback a moment," Why... why would you just turn so suddenly?"

The Faerie gets ever so close to your form, smiling,"I've already told you why. . ."

The Fae's form disperses and returns to its domain, letting open the primal once more and restoring a sort of peace to your inner world...

>[] Speak to any loose ends here(State and write in)
>[] Return to consciousness.
>- and then read out your name.
>>
>>25085496
Terms we can agree on:
<Lady Manse is the enemy
<No aggressions against Unseelie. No attacking and no intentionally provoking attacks and trying diplomacy if possible
<She can be called whatever she wants. This does not actually grant her any kind of rank though. At most we would acknowledge her as the Queen of our Faerie domain.
<We will search for some means of freeing her. Don't agree to actually free her if we find one though. Just that we will try to find a way.

You call out to the realms as they are,"I agree to your terms, Lady of Teeth... I thank you for your mercy and consideration."

"Begone from this place Gargoyle. You have things to protect. . . We. . . Tire of you..."

With a precarious order restored, you bring yourself from these crossroads and back into your reality.

You awaken and you sense that some time has passed. It is still night, and there is no life to be senses near your church.. no disturbances besides the patter of mice and the gentle brushing of the wind against trees within the graveyard.

That time did not help you feel refreshed..

You take a folded note out of your mouth and hold it in a closed hand within the dark...

You open the scrap of paper slowly, your heart Pounding if you truly still had one...

The paper begins to unfurl...

In the late of the night and the early of morning, sparse moonlight sifting in through the dilapidated roof of your church, and broken stained glass...

You see that the paper reads...

"The name of this Gargoyle is Arthur. An orphan taken... in..."

Your vision begins to go blurry as the memories surge forth, your body shakes with the realization that it was once a man.. you drew breath once... You push that as far back as possible and try to read what more is there...

"by... the order... of Masons. Known for the last forty years as "Stone Mason" upon graduating in the order..."

Your flesh.. your stone begins to hurt... begins to ache as even more comes rushing back... You... remember... You... read on...

"Within the last year, Stone Mason new his time in this world grew short... His life nearing... an end... Skill... near perfection..."

You close the note in your fist... you need to read nothing else... You were old, dying, you chose to make your last gargoyle... the one that all masons make before their passing. The one that takes all of their skill, all of their effort to create even as they infuse their soul into it.. as they tempt themselves into both demon and fae...

You feel a cold sweat come on.. or is that your stone... The walls seem to close in... you... you're trapped... trapped in this prison of stone... What... What have you done...

You've given... You've given your life for the final virtue and selfish act that the masons can carry out...

You... you were your own maker... and Marble... Marble was your apprentice.

She was unique among the orphans, with red eyes and white hair.. yet it was no surprise that her parents abandoned her.. Those would be signs of a demon child.. yet under your wing she learned the craft and you found someone for the first time that felt such empathy towards gargoyles..
>>
There's so much to remember... so much.. and...

You feel a sudden revulsion as you suddenly want to break something. You look to your side and you see that a pew is now broken, you smile. It was... fun... But now you're angry... you do it again, to another one. THis time paying attention to the way the wood is crushed under your fist...

Why... did you choose to be an angel? A demonic form would be much more... dangerous.

You can't quite remember and that makes you smile. It's funny. It was so important and then it's not there. It's almost enough to make you want to eat your arm.

You bite deeply into the left, holding your teeth there, feeling the copper and iron within you...

Suddenly it dawns on you... that you were a mason... that your name was Arthur... but why? And why should you care now?

That life is gone, nothing else really should matter..

You open the door to the church and stare at the waning moon looming over the town. The village is in ruins.... its your fault...

[Ending it here for tonight 2000 should be the next runtime this Saturday. scrutinized my schedule for that one... if changes, I'll throw it up on the discussion thread.]
