You are a Hungry creature. You awoke a few hours ago, starving, and have not stopped feeling the need to eat things, even after killing and eating six creatures. With each thing you ate, you gained an aspect of their form, growing stronger.

You just finished eating the captain of the ship that picked you up, a hard shelled creature with powerful claws and gained mandibles, which increase your bite force, and let you grip things with your mouth.

The radio buzzed, then speaks. It sounds like the bird that was talking to the captain before. "Hey captain, I've found a mess in the ventilation room, you might want to come and see this."

"Captain?"

You snake around some metal that sticks out of the wall and climb up to the vent. It is covered with a thick metal grille, but your mandibles bite through it with a sharp crunch. You spit the disgusting metal into the vent and slither through the hole. The vent is bare metal, only slightly wider then yourself. Echoing down the vent you can hear a humming noise, occasionally punctuated by a beep.

The door below you opens, and you can see a taloned foot on the other side of the doorway.
"Oh gods, it's happened here too."
You hear the sound of fluids hitting metal.
"We've got to find the others, don't split up."

You don't quite have the angle to dive out and through the doorway and bite.

>You can make a sort of slurpy-sucky noise with your mouth and click your mandibles.

You continue down the vent, exploring. You hear one of the delicious creatures behind you enter the cabin you left.

After a short distance the vent widens, and in front of you there is a large spinning blade. The whirring noise is loud now, and seems to be mostly caused by the blade.

There is a wire grill covering the exit from your tunnel and another few tunnels nearby. You bite through the wire, and enter another tunnel at random.

This tunnel ends in a rather large room, with a table in the centre and many seats. There are many metal boxes on the walls. There is a small, wooden door that does not entirely seal off a small adjacent room. Something delicious is somewhere.

You hear a scuttling noise approaching the door to this room.

You quickly bite a hole in the opening of the vent, ready to drop down on anything which passes below you, in the centre of the room.

The scuttling reaches the door, and the door opens. A Crab, as you now know their species stands there, carrying two metal things in it's claws.

"Joe, are you in the loo?" it says to the room at large, clicks punctuating it's speech.
You make a slurpy-sucky noise, trying to lure the creature closer.
"Oh, that sounds nasty. My cooking's not that bad, is it?"

The thick shelled lobster enters the room, and walks towards the smaller door.

You slide as fast as you can towards the thing, snaking from side to side, another burst of heat catches your tail, shearing the end of it off! You are in extreme pain!

You slip between it's stabbing legs and bite into it's underbelly. This time you waste no time and eat your way into it's soft innards as it struggles to pull you out with it's broken claw. Your venom appears to have had no effect. You eat deeper, and soon enough you reach it's heart, and it stops struggling.

You begin eating it from the inside out.

Your strength grows:

You feel your sides split, and four armored legs sprout out from your sides. The front pair are longer and thicker and the rear pair are small and weak. You walk around experimentally and find that you mostly pull yourself with your front legs. You have trouble jumping.

You walk over to your tail, leg points giving off soft tick noises when they land, and spike it with your new legs. They're not sharp, but they're certainly not blunt either. You gobble down the tail, as it continues to twist and spasm.

You hear heavy footsteps outside the door.

You manage to hook your leg into the grating and pull yourself out, off the boxes and hang from the grate. It feels unsteady, but as the door begins to open you have to hurry into the ventilation shaft. You get up, but dislodge the grate, and it falls with a loud clang. You slip off into the ventilation system as fast as you can.

You arrive at the spinning blade again. There are many other passages, each of them, and the room you are in, are made of the same thin metal and have a bare empty feel. Undelicious metal. You might be able to get past the blade, somehow. You hear voices echoing from behind you.

You crawl back through the ventilation shafts to the cockpit. Unfortunately, due to the roundabout route you have to take past the fan, the creatures get there before you. You see the bird-thing raise one of it's feet and flip a switch on the control panel. Everything seems to shudder slightly.

"That thing's in the ventilation, we'll meet the others there."

You wait for the creatures to leave, then drop down from the vent with a soft noise. You walk over to the control panel, and flip the switch back with your mandibles. The ship shudders again, very slightly. Then you bite the switch off, making it very hard to toggle.

The metal asteroid in the viewport grows closer. You can see many lights, and all sorts of flashing lights. In some places you can see silhouettes of figures walking past windows. It all looks delicious.

>Do you have any comments or critiques?

I liked the way you handled the rolls, third even etc.

>Did the maps help or hinder?
Maps were fine.

>I feel too much time was spent deciding which upgrade to take, would it be better to rush through that, and take a more lenient approach to consensus in order to get more eating in?

Maybe add a tad bit more detail in the initial explanation of the upgrade, so that the ups & downs of them are more clearly defined, so less questions are asked and a consensus can be reached more quickly.
>>
>>25084168
I was late, but we got legs which is awesome. It seemed like it didn't last too long, so that may be the main reason

The maps are great help, if a little messy.

We got unlucky with the decision thing. That is, tied twice.

>>
>>25084520
Can we all agree, as the people sticking with this thread, to stop fucking things that are trying to kill us?

I'd really rather this didn't end with a whimper.
>>
>>25084520
It would add to the challenge and be conducive to quick decisions. What's wrong with it taking more effort to obtain the features we want?
>>
>>25084486

You could even build a sort of talent tree for each monster type in your head.

Crabs give: Carapace, Mandibles, Legs
Bird things give: Wings, Feathers, etc
We could also gain biomass every 3 or so feedings.

Upgrades in general could be a bit more streamlined. The choice goes down but the quality goes up. Making things up on the fly will always be a bit worse than if you had planned it out.
>>
>>25084452
>>25084472

Pick out what the creature had, OP. Then number them. Roll a dice four times, and put down what you get.

We'll choose from that random batch of options. Make sure to have some description, as you did near the end, to make a general consensus easier.

Makes the options more random, and still lets us customize our little man-eater.

Btw, are we still calling it "Delicious"?

>>
>>25084640
Also, as a suggestion for how to handle upgrades- I like the vote system with a bunch of options, but I wouldn't ever suggest putting "Other" Unless you know we have an idea. That would probably tie us up.

If you say we can think up our own, however, and someone posts one, then people might get behind that.

P.S Let's name fag it up in this thread.

Another way would be to show basic traits of creatures when you first encounter them and reveal more as the shit weasel becomes more familiar with it (has gained some traits). For every trait gained another is revealedFor example:

Crab
Carapace
Legs (---> Frills)
Mandibles (--->vocal cords--->voice)
Mind (basic intelligence --> general knowledge(e.g. language) --->individual knowledge=skills)

Unlocked after having absorbed three traits:
Sensors (Color Vision, antennae)
Size upgrade

Well, not each item. Think of each race as having one or two unique drops. Like, their gimmick. So one race might spit acid, another might be armored. I think his plan is fine if he already has a tech tree scribbled.
>>
>>25084864
Well, originally we only took one vote at a time and only hungered. Our mind wasn't developed.

/tg/ is a lot better than most boards, but we're not perfect.
Human traits show through more when anonymity is involved. Namefaging it up is okay, but the other anon is right in saying it kills threads.

When everyone is named, it scares off the nameless. It's what's special about 4chan. We're all equal because we have no name. When you take a name, you declare yourself to the nameless and claim importance. Hence why OP's okay, but... It's not as good when other people do it.
