>Don't be afraid to jump in if you are new!

You are a creature of simple desires. You desire to eat things. With every delicious thing you eat you grow, morph and change.

You've been on this ship for some time now. You've eaten a number of the crew. You have gained many new abilities: some useful and others much less so. The survivors in the crew are worried. They search for you, but you have eluded them so far. The ship's crew heard you in the ventilation system.

The ship is on it's way to what your stolen knowledge calls an 'asteroid base'. It looms in your vision, through the clear windscreen. It is very large. You can tell that it also holds delicious things that you want to devour. You just sabotaged the autopilot in the cockpit, and the asteroid grows nearer.

A the array of buttons and switches in front of you speaks, in a lifeless voice: "Autodocking procedures initiated. Landing in five minutes."

There are two vents in the roof, and the cable tunnels in the floor, as well as the main access corridor to the rest of the ship.

What do you do?

The crew was heading out to look for us right? I saw we head into the ducks and sweep up the halls nearby, and try and isolate us a lobster for dinner.

Hide in the vents, wait for more prey to be isolated. Or wait and see what this 'asteroid base' is

i say we just hide in the cable tunnel for now
they will show up as the autopilot is stopped, and we can pull the old "nice wire you have here, it'd be a shame if someone were to bite it off" trick

You recall that the delicious fleshbags were going to the ventilation room, searching for you, so you slip into the cable tunnels. It is a tight squeeze with your new limbs, but you can slither along with your snakelike body, just as you did before you got them. You make your way to the ventilation room, hiding in the shadows behind the grill. There are four creatures, one 'Klukker' and three Crabs.

"-your suits on. Stay in pairs and do not lose sight of each other."

You slink off into the tunnels again. You reach another pair of rooms. These ones have no creatures inside. A large machine occupies most of the space in one room. It whirrs loudly, and makes your feathers tingle. The other is filled with many metal boxes and flashing lights. It seems to chitter at you.

Mm-mmm, crunchy outside and a chewy center.

I vote we investigate.
>>
You bite off the metal plate and enter the room of chittering boxes. You snake amongst them, but nothing seems particularly delicious. One of the boxes on the other side of the room starts whirring, and buzzing loudly. You dart towards it, but when you get there it is silent.

Angrily you bite and claw the outside of it off. There is nothing inside! Just a tiny fan and thin pieces of undelicious materials.

The fan buzzes at you again! And it's not even delicious! How rude.

You bite it with your mandibles, tearing bits out of the box and spreading them across the room. You try to eat the fan, but the very thought of it makes you gag.

The ship shudders.

You skitter back into the cable tunnel and into the adjacent room.

This room houses a single large machine. It hums loudly. You crawl over it looking for weak points. Most of it is heavy and bulky, but you come across another panel of switches and levers.

You hear voices from the corridor outside.

You run back to the panel of switches and buttons. You don't know what any of them do! But you know you have to do it quickly.

You think for a moment, then bite into the panel as hard as you can!

Sparks course through your body and your legs spasm wildly. You are weak! You are in pain!

The large thing in the room, the power generator, throws off sparks wildly. You slither towards the cable tunnels, dragging your legs alongside you. The cables in the tunnel glow hot. You don't know if you should risk your feathers in there...

The door to the room opens and you dive into a dark corner, as best you can. Two Crabs run into the room on their many legs, chittering to each other. These smell Delicious!

"Oh fuck it's overloading!"

They run towards the switch panel. One of the creature's legs gets zapped by arcing lightning, and goes limp.

"It's the broken control unit," one yells at the other.

"You rerout it to the backup, I'll make sure it doesn't overheat! Go, Jo!"

The Crab with the limp leg scurries towards the door. The able-bodied one remains. Now is your chance!

>36

You slither towards the thing, it's eyes intent on the control panel. Then an errant bolt of electricity lances into you and stuns you!

You are in a daze. You slide towards the crab. You hear a shout from the other room, but your hearing isn't clear right now.

The crab at the control panel flips some switches, and the generator whines, as if in pain. Why must these machines lie to you so? You wish there was a way to eat them. Then the crab flips a large switch and stops working frantically. The whine gets louder. In a panic it flips the switch once, twice more, but nothing happens. Then it grabs the large switch in it's pincer, and twists the metal as it forces it closed.

It holds that position for some time, spasming wildly. The generator's whine falls off, and the crab goes limp.

You come to your senses, you can move your limbs again, albeit painfully. You can hear scuttling and scraping coming towards the door.

You bite furiously into his neck, tearing off carapace and eating your way inside, losing yourself to the Hunger.

Wait. What is this? The crab isn't delicious! You aren't growing and changing! You aren't

Your body morphs slightly, growing many strange new muscles at the base of each feather. You can flare out the feathers around your mouth, hiding vulnerable places from being targeted. You can puff yourself up, doubling in volume, to hide your teeth, mandibles and even your legs if you aren't standing on them. With some effort you can pull yourself around with just your feathers, perfectly silent.

You turn to the charred crab. The though of eating it disgusts you just as much as eating the metal boxes of the other room, but you could force yourself to.

The ship shudders, and you hear the sound of metal scraping against metal, echoing throughout the hull.

You scrabble over to the door, which opens as you approach it. Across the hall is another door, which you go through into the cargo bay. It is just as you left it. There are many large crates of rice, each has it's lid torn off by crustacean claws. There is a pool of ichor where you ate the first member of this ship's crew. A large glowing device hangs in the centre-back of the room, pointed towards the main doors. A word bubbles to the top of your mind: "-Emitter"

You look towards the ventilation system. Dark smoke seems to be leaking out of it.

You briefly consider licking up the ichor, buy you have no appendage that could do that. You think back and remember that the bird things had tongues. You add it to your mental list of things to evolve.

You climb up the wall and spring across to the emitter. It reminds you of the fan you saw earier. Angrly, you bite and scratch at it with your legs. It begins to hum.

The smoke gets heavier, filling the upper section of the room. It stings your skin and eyes. The hum grows steadily louder.

This brings up a relevant point: what is happening to all the mass?

We eat the entire bodies of our victims except for whatever fluids leak out. We can presume that some of the mass goes towards building our upgrades, but that can't account for nearly all of it. Where is the rest of it going?
>>
>>25149200
Remember when we lost a big chunk of tail? And how we keep getting shot?
>>
>>25149200
a very, very, efficient metabolism? That or one of these days we're going to suddenly grow to be the size of a whale.
>>
>>25149200
very.very. fast metabolism...idk
>>
>>25149200
We will start pooping dark matter soon
>>
You bite the emitter once more before the stinging becomes too annoying. You drop down onto the floor, feathers cushioning your fall; you land without hurting yourself. You scratch your way into the maze of crates, hiding and waiting.

The cargo bay continues filling with acrid dark smoke. It obscures your vision of the roof. The hum grows even louder. The metal wall opposite the emitter creaks softly.

You think about your feeding frenzies. You eat the creature all up and then gain new powers. You don't appear to have a stomach or a gizzard or an anus like the creatures you have eaten have.

Your line of though is interrupted when one of the doors in the fore of the cargo hold opens with a 'shiff'. Two figures enter, half obscured by the smoke filling the upper area of the hold. They are shaped like the creatures you saw before, but are coated in a layer of bright puffy undelicious. They stop and look around the room, then up at the emitter, then at each other. They are silent.
>>
>>25149263
continue to wait. be as silent as possible and only move to avoid being seen.

>>
>>25149186
Do we need to hide before docking? I feel like we can wait til the docking procedure, crew needs to be priority one. We're gonna have a lot more luck with this new place if a ghost ship docks than if crew members are still alive to warn the station about us. Let's just hope they don't scan the ship before docking or something.
>>
>>25149289
Sounds like a plan.
>>
>>25149263
Crabs or birds?
>>
>>25149317
also we need to be careful in our hiding place because hiding in the rice containers that are obviously opened by us will not do.

I also vote we wait for now

Wait, and stay silent/hidden. Listen to anything they say.

>Remember when we lost a big chunk of tail?
We never grew it back. After all that eating we're actually smaller than when we started.
>>
this thread reminds me a lot of the first alien movie, but from the other POV

i love it
>>
Rolled 99

We can talk in a crab accent, right?

From someplace hidden, shout: "The alien, it's the alien in the suit! He's going to kill you!"

Each crab will think the other is the alien and try to kill the other.

Rolling for making it convincing.
>>
>>25149396
well then....
>>
we never got the ability to talk. Pity too. That was a ballin roll.
>>
>>25149396
Taking a crab's voice was an option but I don't think we picked it.
>>
Rolled 88

>>25149381
Not only did we not grow it back, WE ATE THE TAIL TOO. We are accumulating mass at an astounding rate while not apparently gaining any volume. The only conclusion one can reach is that we are becoming incredibly dense.
>>
>>25149396
>You cannot, you did not chose that evolution.

You keep your distance, hiding in the mess of crates, strewn about the floor. The figures, one bird-thing and one crab, walk together between the boxes. The crab holds a heat slinging device in each claw, and the Klukker has one hanging from a string around it's neck, bouncing off a white metal plate on the chest of it's puffy suit. They stop periodically, looking over the boxes. They remain silent.

As they near you retreat, silently slipping backwards on your feathertips. Soon you are almost at the back of the room.

The wall behind your creaks softly again, and appears to bend inwards slightly.
>>
>>25149413
unfortunately, if they turn on one another, and kill each other, we dont get as much bonus
>>
>>25149428
It's simple. We're evolving into a black hole.
>>
Rolled 7

>>25149430
oh hell that thing was a grav emitter. Do Not get between it and the wall.

See if we can't hide in the shadow of a crate then move behind the two of them.
>>
>>25149430
Roll over and feign death. make it look convincing
>>
Rolled 89

>>25149430
Flare up feathers defensively, then break through the wall if its an interior wall, if not, try to sneak out of the room and much some of the cockpit. Nontasty helps us kill and lure prey.
>>
>>25149459
It's either grav or holding the air in the cargo bay. Either way, we don't want to be there when it breaks completely.
>>25149430
Escape into the vents! Or through the door, if possible.
>If it doesn't open for us on its own, we can bite through.
>>
>>25149430
Probably want to skitter around so that we are not between the wall and the possible gravity emitter which may pancake us if we aren't lucky or careful

Don't bite the delicious living beings yet though, figure out a good way through the undelicious wrapping first
>>
Rolled 24

>>25149430
Alright, alright, here's the scam. The charred body is no good for eating, so we left is mostly intact, right?

Crab suit.

Get inside it and operate it's limbs with our pincers. Play off any weirdness like it was caused by the injury. Hopefully we get the two in the suits to drag the body (and us) to a sickbay. We fucked up the ship pretty good, right? There's bound to be someplace they're taking the wounded for triage.

Delicious, delicious wounded.
>>
Shit, these last two are going to be tough. Anybody got any ideas for how to split them up? I think if we can burrow into the crab from behind we can take the bird pretty easily.
>>
>>25149526
we don't have pincers. and we can't talk
>>
>>25149526
We've gained too much mass: if they tried to drag the body it would weigh as much as all our victims to this moment combined.
>>
>>25149527
if there was more smoke we could probably have a big advantage as we're shorter/not standing
>>
>>25149526
I doubt we have enough limbs or motor function to operate a crab-puppet yet.
>>
>>25149526
wouldn't work, the neck wound and chest burst pretty much ruined any sort of faking it. And we probably wouldn't be able to stretch out like you are imagining either.
>>
Rolled 52

>>25149537
No talking required, and I meant "legs" not "pincers". Basically we just need to wiggle them enough to make them think he's still alive.
>>
They'd be more likely to think Zombie then Alive with the wounds we gave him.
>>
Rolled 16

>>25149558
The hole in the chest is still going to ruin the illusion.
>>
Rolled 66

I don't think we're gaining mass. I think we're handwaving that away.
>>
>>25149558
Provided they find him any time soon, which is unlikely since they've got to repair all of the shit we've been busting up. I still say burrow into the crab from behind, visibility sucks in here and we can move really quiet. Or we could try and wound the bird and then scuttle off to a corner.
>>
>>25149603
We could throw boxes. Maybe?

I still think we should escape and regroup, though.
>>
Rolled 42

Well I feel pretty backed into a corner.

Fuck it.

Stealth in behind birdo, attempt to use him as a shield and escape the way the two armored dudes came in.
>>
>>25149639
I don't think it's armor, I think they're just flexible hazard suits. We should be able to tell that visually.
>>
>>25149639

Kill bird furd and hide in smoke
>>
>You don't feel any heavier then you should be. It's as if the universe runs on star trek/FTL/Stargate logic, not real life physics.

You scuttle away from the creaking wall and the white-suited figures, who stand tall in the black smoke. It is as if they are immune to it's harsh sting.

The wall at the end of the bay bends inwards noticibly. Bright light shines through the central crack in the wall, ruler straight. Doors, you realise.

The figures stop their search of the crates and look towards the door, then turn towards the emitter.

You look for the vents, but they are obscured by the stinging black smoke. You would have to immerse yourself fully in it to get inside the vents on the roof.

The smoke continues to fill the room, it is barely a foot above your head. You must act now!
>roll 1d100 for whatever you do, taking the second even roll.

Wait, I thought we don't need to breathe, why does the smoke hurt us?

Okay, irrelevant. These douchebags are safe because of their suits right? Well fuck their suits! Sneaky sneaky up behind them and bit open their suits then sneaky away while they try not to die.
>>
Rolled 77

>>25149677
Escape fro the room for now. Throw rices by sticking feathers, then using muscles to toss it everywhere as a distraction. Then make escape through the door and run for your life.

Personally I though it would be odd rolls this time, we've already done even this session.

Rolled 83

Rolled 54

but then we cant eat him in his deliciousness. which kinda kills the point aside from simply getting the kill. I would rather take the opportune evolution from the kill than just get the kil
>>
Rolled 69

>>25149800
I thought the problem with the cooked crab was the fact that he was COOKED. Do we have any reason to believe that a creature that dies of asphyxiation is similarly indigestible?
>>
You dart forward, your legs click-clicking on the metal floor. Your feathers flatten to lessen your profile and you bite into the bird-creature's suit's leg, tearing it open and revealing the delicious flesh beneath.

Right as you are about to bite the creature it kicks its leg, flinging you high into the air... and the smoke. Your eyes and mouth hurt as they are seared by the acidic stuff, but your feathers protect your body and your legs don't seem to hurt much. Then you land in a crate of rice, your impact throwing grains around the cargo bay. Bolts of heat burn into the crate repeatedly, charring rice all around you.

Then there is an almighty roar as the thick metal doors of the cargo bay are pulled inward, bending open and scattering crates. The black smoke begins to flow out the gap, clearing the air slightly. Through the open doors you can see an expanse of rock, teirs of stone with many things moving and growing. Some of them look delicious.

The bolts of heat burst into your crate again, as the bird stands on one foot and shoots at you with the phaser in the other. The crab is scuttling toward the emitter.

>What do you do?
>Roll 1d100, taking third odd roll.

Rolled 10

This. Attack the suits, wait for them to die, then eat them. Gain abilities to talk and use burning weapons. Profit.
>>
Rolled 29

>>25149855
not that I can see. but I am not sure it was ever said one way or the other. I suppose that in reality. all creatures die as we eat them and it remains delicious till the end, so maybe it is more to do with the cooked nature as opposed to the dead factor

Guys, I think they're just decon. Biting into the suit isn't actually going to do much to them, it's not like hard vacuum.

Rolled 88

>>25149869
expand feathers breaking open the barrel and causing the rice to fire out at top speed. Then move as fast as possible behind the bird and try to attack it again

this is to eat them, not just kill them.

>>25149869

You puff up your feathers, throwing grains of rice in every direction. The bird creature is startled, and fires wildly at the movement.

You crawl out of the crate, feathers still puffed, and weave directly towards it. It's phaser burns through your feathers, charring spots, but your body remains unharmed as you reach it.

You dart at the leg it stands on, fastening yourself on with your mandibles as you tear and shread at it's suit and into the flesh underneat. Blood sprays from the wound and the thing falls over next to you, dropping it's gun.

It kicks at you with it's free foot, but can't disloge you. Then it cries out in a booming loud voice. It's voice is modified by the suit, but you recognise it as the mottled bird creature from the cockpit: the one who took over after you ate the captain.
"Help! Help! Hostile creature on board! Bring weapon-!"

You clamp your mandibles on it's neck, silencing it.

You hear angry shouting coming from outside the ship.
