Vampire Doll Quest 10: Bloodlines
Returning to your castle with a huddled group of farmers within the shining ranks of your tin soldiers, you pass through the black-and-red rose garden of your front gates, and half-smile from atop your trusted steed, Fluffy. It would appear the castle is trying to cheer you up after you accidentally almost ate Scarlet.

Speaking of Scarlet herself, she's waiting for you at the gate, looking smaller than she was before. You don't have to look up at her anymore.

You hesitate.

… You honestly don't know how to apologize. You haven't had to for three centuries. You guess you're out of practice.

Scarlet seems to be waiting for you to speak. She looks terribly small and frightened.

Damn it, why did you have to name her after your sister?

You take a deep breath, and swing yourself off the ceramic hide of your hound, and give it a gentle pat on the head of thanks. Mostly you're stalling for time, though.

You turn. Scarlet just looks at you.

"Sorry."

You shake your head. What are you doing, apologizing to someone you made? She should be happy that you even… who are you fooling? Certainly not yourself.

Sure, you eat people. But only the ones not worth keeping.

And Scarlet is a masterpiece.

You let out a breath you didn't know you'd been holding.

"I should have known better than to try and scry on the spur of the moment like that. That backlash could have killed me. More to the point, it almost killed you. Is there anything at all I can do to make it up to you?"

> Scarlet, /is/ there anything she can do to make it up to you?
>>
>>25163023
1.
You are Isabella Katarina Markova, twelfth of the line of Carmilla, thirteen generations from Dracula, the First. This places you with enough blood and power to make you a minor noble in Shadescast, the city of the vampires, and possess your own castle- which does not necessarily have sensible geometry, and which is not always in the same place. Though your physical appearance is that of a young girl, you are actually three and a half centuries old.

2.

3.
You spend your time responding to requests from other vampires for lore, and holding tea parties and other social events, both with humans and vampires. On occasion, you indulge in adding one or two of them to your collection of porcelain dolls…

4.

5.
Recently, you were attacked by a human vampire hunter who managed to temporarily kill you. Upon rising from death, you captured him and left him in the tender hands of your doll collection... but first he managed to majorly deface your castle and burn a portion of your library, including some hard-to-replace texts. Signs point to him having been hired by a rival vampire... and one who was here, and managed to take one of your dolls.

6.

7.
Currently, you are working to turn the mayor of Mark into your soft, gooey servant. The process will take one or two weeks more. You also intend to invest in the airship trade- a process speeded considerably when the chattel you acquired to raise money were vastly overvalued by a vampiric noble by the name of Blackford. As a result, you gained control of his airship yards in Mark. When you returned from formally transferring control, you discovered that Rose had gone missing in your absence- So you had Scarlet, one of your Dolls' creations, drag her back to the Castle for you. In return, Scarlet was given Rose as her servant.

Five minutes later, you almost ate Scarlet after taking backlash from a failed scrying attempt. Now returning from the hunt, you can only hope for forgiveness.

Finally finished archives. So let me see if I've got this character straight.....

>Young adult by vampire standards.
>Generally untalented save for an extensive knowledge of history and lore.
>Sexually repressed, socially incompetent, somewhat immature.
>Hates the world almost as much as herself.
>Hides in her dad's basement and obsesses over collectables.

OP clearly knows his audience.
>>
>>25163023
It's not really our place (as Scarlet) to demand anything of our master. Still, the only thing still keeping us bound to her is obligation thanks to our new body.

"Either make me more beautiful, or immortalize me in a portrait, so that I may never forget this beautiful body if anything should...happen."

Scarlet's a little selfish here.
>>
>>25163185
Not quite perfect.
She's also got the ability to make anybody do whatever she wants.

>Generally untalented save for an extensive knowledge of history and lore.
For what it's worth, a majority of vampiric society prefers not to get into a mental battle of attrition with Isabella.
>Sexually repressed, socially incompetent, somewhat immature.
She was embraced at 13, for what that's worth. And to preserve her independence, she's been playing up her "eccentric recluse" persona.
>Hates the world almost as much as herself.
I wouldn't go and say that, but vampire society isn't exactly a bastion of civilization, either.
>Hides in her dad's basement and obsesses over collectables.
The entirety of Castlevania is hers, and she had to literally kill her creator to get it.

I know what you're getting at, but I won't deny that Isabella is a little strange in her own way.
>>
>>25163261
Only this particular ca/tg/irl is feral and will eat you. If you're lucky.

If you don't like it, suggest things that you would prefer. This is a player-driven quest.

> SZS
> *thumbs-up*
>>
>>25163320
The only thing we haven't gotten into at length is vampire politics, and we're making inroads towards that end. Some people want their fleshwerks, others want their airship empire, some just wanna be creepy.
>>
>>25163195
This begs the question, does Scarlet age? She's not exactly a "person" anymore.
>>
>>25163350
Speaking of fleshwerks, we should get that conversation started early since we have a new group of hoboflesh to do things to.
>>
>>25163354
We ate part of her when the scry backfired, and she shrank. In the beginning, Scarlet was a fair bit taller than us.

Maybe give back some of the blood to Scarlet to reform her to (some of) her original state.
>>
>>25163354
Nobody knows whether Scarlet ages, but your guess as someone experienced in this sort of thing would be 'no.'
>>
>>25163023
Hmmm, it's hard to put ourselves in Scarlet's shoes given that we've not seen too much characterization from her, and the only thing we know she likes is freedom, which she'd never be dumb enough to ask for (and after using powers on her for loyalty last thread might not be a priority anyway).
>>
>>25163374
I wanna say make more soldiers to patrol the castle. You can almost never go wrong with extra security around the house, especially since we were attacked once already.

As for vampolitics (eh? EH?), I'm wondering if Isabella even has any friends in the court. After the attack, you'd think one of them (a galpal or sumfin') would swing by to check on them. I mean, Isabella DID get ganked.
>>
>>25163402
She likes her new body, which is one of the only reasons she hangs around. I'd think she would want to preserve it one way or another. Beyond that, it's hard to say what she wants. She's literally less than a day old.
>>
>>25163402
You're Scarlet. Decide what you want. Don't bother with being 'internally consistent'. People are contradictory by nature.

If people like your idea and it gets chosen, then Scarlet's character will shift in that direction.
>>
>>25163475
The only real suggestions are >>25163195 and >>25163377. Both have to do with preserving Scarlet's identity -- particularly her body. That's the only major thing we have to work with.
>>
>>25163435
Possibly something body/image-related then...

>>25163475
But a painting would be rather dull given that we're deciding on her characterization right now. Hmm...
>>
>>25163435
Has it only been? Time flies when you're depopulating settlements. Let's ask to accompany Izzi to Shadecast so everybody can see how beautiful (and important!) we are.

Also this brings me back to a previous question from when you were eating dinner last thread. If we continue to dominate Scarlet will it get easier as her defenses slip? Or will she always roll the same acumen against our compulsions?
>>
>>25163475
If you want some ideas; Scarlet was a girl who lived on the streets of Eyesocket. She likes her new body not only because it's beautiful, but because it's powerful and makes her feel less vulnerable. She feels an attachment for the castle because it's the first place she's been valued in her life. Isabella has treated her more or less as an equal so far, so she has no real reasons to hate her.

Anything come to mind?
>>
>>25163516
And before anybody asks yes I am trying to make Scarlet go completely yandere on us.
>>
>>25163435
I'd say she is more loyal than that, due to the conversation where she pledged her loyalty. Maybe a promise to always keep a slave around and to help us restore ourself. I think Scarlett is ultimately loyal to the mc after all.
>>
>>25163023
I like this one. >>25163195
Getting some artwork of ourself made so we can see our beauty even as we may change and become beautiful in different ways we'll always remember all the different facets of us.

Also asking for beautiful dresses, perfume and makeup, jewelry, and our own room to decorate as we see fit.

But most importantly asking Isabella to find out exactly what we are, tell her that we don't mind if it takes a while and won't blame her if her investigations don't yield any fruit, but that we want her to try, to sincerely try to find out.

This is a combination of things we'd like for getting hurt, and things we'd like as her Lady-in-Waiting.
>>
>>25163475
"Warn me next time you feel like doing something fatally ill thought out. Also, I would like you to teach me more about fleshcrafting, perhaps then I can come up with something to protect myself in the event you're overcome with one of your urges Mistress Isabella. I can also experiment with that dear Rose, she is mine to do with as I please provided she can continue to work correct Mistress Isabella?"

>>25163537
yes. goooood....
>>
>>25163534
So she values power because she doesn't want to be vulnerable again. Isabella's hunger episode reminded Scarlet how vulnerable she was even in this new body in this new castle and everything. Still, she's more powerful and more secure than she was in her old life, and she wants to preserve that. To do so involves being at Isabella's side.

I'd say just insist that next time, Isabella should warn her if something like that is going to happen again.
>>
>>25163023
"My body...it is a vision of beauty, but the world around it so gray and ugly. I would like...to change that. Some way to make others too visions of youth and ripeness, if not to my standards of perfection...when my lady allows it, of course."
>>
>>25163516
Speaking of which, today is the day that Lord Blackford comes to pick up his airship from our airship yard, and tomorrow we have chess with the mayor again.

>>25163516
The longer you influence Scarlet, the less resistance she'll have to you (penalties on her acumen checks until she stops making them altogether.)
>>

>>

Lol, snarky much?

I can't blame her for having a bit of an attitude after Isabella damn near destroys her. While Isabella may have named Scarlet after her Sister, that doesn't make Scarlet her sister. Scarlet has a right to be a bit upset.

>>
>>25163599
Let's ask Isabella to take us with her (so everybody will see us with a vampire noble). A bit preening but that's Scarlet alright.

>>25163599
So that makes us re-evaluate our prohibition on mind fucking her. I say once we get some stat boosts to eeriness we start doing it again.
>>
>>25163599
Oh shit, Blackford's airship is done today? We should get cleaned up and make for Mark as soon as possible to receive him.

We can't take Scarlet to Mark. You can't disguise a blood elemental all that well.
>>

Okay, minor pedantic point, unless they are also made to divert water from the building they are technically grotesques.

Just thought you should know.

>>25163647
I'm sure he will be happy to see us, we can ask him about what's his face the 20th and ask how he is doing lately under the excuse that he asked for our aid a while back and we weren't sure how it panned out. He might have some insight for us.

>>25163660
We could however take her to Shadescast, after we get her some blood though, she's not at her best right now.

Assuming he comes in person, we must greet him.
Thank him for the extremely generous terms he gave us but try to work into the conversation that we had to invest a lot into the airyard.

He might feel a bit less ripped off if he knows he sold us a fixer-upper.

Just try to stay on amicable terms with him.

>>25163195
>>25163645

A whole bunch of vanity-related ones, but somewhat at cross-purposes to each other.
>>
>>25163599
Let's talk with Blackford about his erstwhile Nosferatu kin. I'm equal parts for snarky Scarlet and Yandere Scarlet, though I don't think Isabella has done anything yet at this point to endear herself onto Scarlet other than subtle domination. It will take time, Scarlet doesn't seem like the kind of girl to want to hate/lustfuck the person who almost drained her like a red sponge.

We can ask Blackford about his family member, the one on our suspect list, I also reccomend we ask him about possibly searching for our misplaced doll, Selim. Depending on his mood of course.
>>
>>25163676
Yeah, Scarlet can only really be shown off in Shadescast. Tell her to refill her blood reserves to return to her natural (tall) self, but do it responsibly. Isabella wants her returned to the vision of loveliness she was earlier by the time she gets back from Mark.
>>
>>25163704
Go with "be more careful, dummy," and put the vanity suggestions on the backburner. It's a little soon to be asking for vanity portraits right now.
>>
Personally I think it would be funny to have her ask to get to help deal with whover made her do that to us. Have her focus her a nger on the one who hurt her lady, and through her lady her.
>>
>>25163704
I think that asking Isabella to investigate what we are is a good one, and some vanity is always nice.
>>
>>25163704
maybe a soft "be more careful, dummy" but yeah, I like that one.
>>
>>25163744
The running term right now is "blood elemental."
>>
>>25163704
In favor of more "be more careful, dummy" it would be hilarious to see things happen the other way around in that Isabella becomes yandere for Scarlet, what with freaking out, murdering everyone, then sucking on her to mellow out.
>>
>>25163715
>Scarlet can only really be shown off in Shadescast.
I bet we could fix that.
The Dolls did some lovely work but they are only Dolls. We are the master of our craft.

I bet we could give her some ability to transform and hide the 'living blood' thing.
>>
>>25163760
True, Isabella is already violently possessive of her craftwerks, but that might be stretching it.

The tin men are all dumb as rocks, fluffy wants to eat us, Scarlet can't go anywhere in public, and the angel is drugged out of its mind.
>>
>>25163735

Priorities?

1. Tell Scarlet to go eat some Rose to make herself presentable again, we're going out later. Watch their interactions to make sure Rose is acting right (and for funsies).
2. Take inventory of servants. Put some of the slackers to work (thugly, mathlete). Begin Hoboflesh 2.0.
3. Accept Blackford, ingratiate ourselves, see if he knows anything about his vampire cousin, the one we suspect was our dollnapper. Manage the shipyards more and look into beginning construction on our merchant fleet.
4. Go on soirée to Shadecast. Sell excess slaves for holdings, look for clues, let Scarlet strut her stuff.
5. Mindfuck the mayor.
6. ????
7. GALA! In a couple months from now probably. When is our dad's death-iversary?

At a distance people will know they're just garg...grotesques. If they bother looking at them up close, they're really scary looking grotesques, but why would someone be looking up close in Mark anyway unless it's a local punk kid who no one would miss anyway.

I think it should be focused on personal beauty, not necessarily the preservation of her current beauty. A wardrobe, jewelry, perfume, things so Scarlet can look at herself in the mirror and know that she is gorgeous. It's self-indulgent. Also, a giant floor-length mirror as part of that.

I'm ok with this for the most part, I do think however we shouldn't supervise Scarlet, it would be a sign of trust and respect, hopefully that will minimize the damage done to the current relationship anyway.

What kind of time window are we looking at between when the ship arrives in Mark along with the Earl? I suggest we hold onto the slaves, perhaps see if the Earl is interested in some more chattel, if we give him a discount he might be more inclined to assisting us with our search, providing us with information on his cousin/childe?

Isabella is the first person to accept her, and Castlevania is the first roof she's not been turned away from. She wants to protect that, maintain that.

I'd say the best way to do that is allow her to feed to her original state.

I'm running under the assumption that Earl Blackford is heading straight for Mark, since that's where his new airship is. We wait for him there at the base of his new cruiser and show him around personally.

Also, it gives us a chance to bum information off him on just how to create and run a personal air fleet. Also, we have to talk to him eventually about his ward Nalus, so it'd be as good a time as any.
>>
>>25164066
>perhaps see if the Earl is interested in some more chattel
We do /not/ bring up selling him more slaves unless he suggests the idea.
Seriously, we just took his shirt. Just be friendly and try to maintain an amicable relationship.

If things are going well we might ask about his cousin, but if relations are tense, best not to bring it up right now.

Yea I meant less direct order and more, "GET DID UP WE'RE GOING CLUBBING".

The quest has yet to fully dive headfirst into vampire politics, so it's hard to say.

Still playing catch up this thread, but I have to ask if you were really surprised?
>>
>>25164154
>Aren't the laws on attacking other vamps there pretty strict?
The Laws of Hospitality are very strict but that doesn't cover anyone just walking around the city and I don't know if it applies to non-Vampires at all.
>>
>>25164139
Does Scarlet wear clothing? or is her blood hair everything she needs to maintain any modesty?

If all she needs is blood hair, how bout some lingerie. Either cute and frilly, or evil.
>>
>>25164154
>"GET DID UP WE'RE GOING CLUBBING"
WHERE ARE MY BITCHES?

Also, I'm waiting on a vampire from the line of Brando to show up.
>>
>>25164219
She is Blood Bayonetta, so technically no, she doesn't wear anything but the "blood hair."
>>
>>25164042
If they have shitty discipline then it shouldn't be hard to immediately dominate them and eat their heart. Probably the easiest XP we'll get in this quest.
>>
>>25164219
>Either cute and frilly, or evil.
Either or?

Isabella is both, she can be too.

And caught up. Damn, since we took so muck of her blood, I would have suggested giving her one drop of our both for it he infused euphoria and as a means of further weakening her mental defenses against us. If the vampirification think can apply to what I now assume is a blood construct, I will be pleasantly surprised.
>>
>>25164248
I don't...think so. But yes, Scarlet is basically an alternate Elesh Norn.
>>
>>25164219
>>25164230

No, she wears clothes. Actual, real physical clothes. She's actually wearing one of your dresses right now, probably for a lack of anything else in her (newly-tiny) size.
>>
>>25164232
Yeah, but if some dick jumps Scarlet while we're looking the other way, we might lose her.

Also, it's unclear how the Laws of Hospitality work. They might not apply to non-Vampires at all.
If we enter another Vampires crib, they might be free to snack on Scarlet while we must respect the Hosts Right.
>>
>>25164283
She could ask for a bit of our blood to even the scales between us.

That would be a good thing to ask.
>>
>>25164298
No. Attacking a vampire or their entourage in your Castle is a very good way to be very dead very fast.

Basically guests and hosts are sarcosanct.
>>
>>25164298
Nope, if they violate the guest rules, they're the one that get screwed over.
Actually, they're probably killed off, because the guest rules are inviolate.
>>
>>25164312
Would she really dare to ask? It's a pretty big deal, and I'm not sure most vampires would take it very well.
>>
>>25164248
is that what scarlet looks like? because that's disgusting, beautiful, and horrible all at once and I approve
>>
>>25164351
I'd say at this point, Scarlet wouldn't directly ask for Isabella's blood. It'd be too soon.
That doesn't mean Isabella wouldn't give her a bit anyway, just to further mend the bridge.
>>
>>25164363
Not really, but the white-and-red motif is rather the same. There's a physical description of Scarlet in older threads.
>>
>>25164316
We were talking about in Shadecast 'card. But either way I'm not too worried about it. Anybody weak enough to attack her on site would probably be within her ability to defend against (until we skullfucked them).

>>25164368
Support giving Scarlet some of our blood. Best case scenario it binds us to her. Worst case scenario... she becomes a vampire and is bound to us.
>>
>>25164368
and risk triggering another hunger attack even if the chance is low?
I doubt it.
>>
You consider Isabella's words carefully. It's not often you get attacked by a centuries-old vampire. It's even less often that they then apologize.

You haven't known Isabella long, but this doesn't seem like the kind of thing she'd usually do. She must be almost as scared as you.

You smile, and before Isabella has a chance to object, you hug her. It's odd to be so short.

"Apology accepted. Next time, don't be such an idiot and warn me! I don't like getting bitten."

Isabella stiffened rather a lot as you hugged her, but she seems to have accepted it- though she's not hugging back. You take the hint and back off a little.

"I mean really, I don't even know what I am. I could have attacked you and then things would have turned out even worse. Don't scare me like that again, okay?"

A thought flashes through your head.

"But if you realllllly want to make it up to me, then you could give me some chambers of my own in the castle. I'd like a larger room than just being in the servants' quarters with the others."

You smile hopefully at her.

> Continued as Isabella
>>
>>25164451
As Scarlet- now much shorter, and reminding you of your sister more than ever- unexpectedly hugs you, you can't help but tense up all over.

Nobody's touched you without your permission and lived to tell of it in centuries.

But this is Scarlet. You owe her.

Some distant part of your mind registers what she's saying, but you honestly aren't processing it through the backwards summersault your brain just did.

So you do your best not to push her away, and before long she's not grabbing you anymore, and finally you can think straight again.

"… if you realllllly want to make it up to me, then you could give me some chambers of my own in the castle. I'd like a larger room than just being in the servants' quarters with the others."

Scarlet is looking at you with puppy-dog eyes. You're not sure how you can tell, but you can tell.

"Er, yes. Sure. I'll ask the castle to give you some lodgings and tell the staff to give you your pick of furniture."

She nods at you.

"Be careful, okay?"

You nod back absently, and deliberately make the effort to remember what's on the schedule today.

Right. Lord Blackford is taking possession of his airship today. A chance to investigate the hunter and check on the improvements you made.

If nothing else, it'll be a good distraction.

You call for your coachman.

> Anything you want to do before leaving for the Airship Yard?
>>
>>25164312
If she asks, we shackle her mind or destroy her before it's too late. We do not want the seeds of equality (which will lead to rebellion) growing in our minions. And we are not offering, either we do it (without her input) or we don't.
>>
>>25164462
I wanted to do sort out our servants. A bunch of them are just lolling about contributing nothing to the "glorious" Markova name.
>>
>>25164462
Make sure we're dressed to the nines, have our parasol ready, and that our servants are doing what they should be.

Also, assign Maxwell under our Valet for training and education.
>>
>>25164462
we just got hugged by a blood elemental. Get a change of clothes.
>>
>>25164462
Whelp, now we have one minion that'll walk all over us...
>>
>>25164462
Maybe give mr sycophant something to do, he may be all about furthering his own ambitions, but that's no reason to let him laze around - we just need to find something that doesn't have a lot of potential for betrayal, and isn't incredibly risky and likely to make him desert.

His ambitions and looks might make him an ideal agent in Mark - Eyesocket is too made for him, and in the other two he's unnecessary and in danger. Send him out to gather information on rival airship-yards and see if he can find any gossip about us perhaps?

>>
>>25164578
Oh yeah, him. Yeah, he'd be easy to ingratiate into Mark. Should we bring him along when Blackford comes to claim his airship?
>>
>>25164613
You're forgetting Sophia, our head maid.
>>
>>25164566
We have a minion that knows that, for whatever reason, we care about her well being beyond the master servant paradigm that is still a pretty good deal given that we are a vampire. That gives her both leverage and a sense of security... Well, I guess we'll see if she's smart enough to remain cautious or if she'll grow emboldened and force us to correct her behavior, or replace her.
>>
>>25164530
Second.

Tell him this is his chance to show his usefulness.

Don't forget to take a blood sample so we can track him or kill him remotely if we need to.
>>
>>25164632
So you're saying that because we're a vampire, we're incapable of having friends?
>>
>Numberologist (Thomas):
Get him to work ginning up more fake money. Ask what he needs to increase his abilities.

>Rose:
Make sure she's studying/doing whatever Scarlet wants. Use her to inform on Scarlet maybe? We can play both sides against the middle.

>Sophia:
Definitely needs work. She's a powderkeg of treason and sharp objects. Low grade mindfucking advised.

>Maxwell:
Keep stringing him along, let him apprentice with our butler. Decide whether he's disposable or not.

>Slab/Bradley/"That muscled guy":
Improvements are in order. He can be the centerpiece of hoboflesh 2.0.

>Scarlet
Keep up the good work. Give her blood (it's narcotic right?). Degrade her willpower and keep mindfucking her when we feel it's safe.
>>
>>25164606
As the slaughter was not of our minions, I think it rates "slightly atypical Thursday" on the "memorable?" scale.
>>
>>25164606
For once, I don't think we should play up the cute angle. We're approaching Earl Blackford as a proper businesswoman. It's OUR airfield, after all. We have to act the part and be important.

>>25164650
Scarlet may be the most intelligent of all our constructs, but she's still technically a construct. She's an equal insomuch as we respect her opinion, considering she actually has a few brain cells to rub together.

That said, vampires are a unique kind of autistic.
>>
>>25164660
Thomas is using his abilities passively at the moment.
You can roll his Eeriness for larger uses of the power.
>>
>>25164660
>>Slab/Bradley/"That muscled guy":

Personally for him I would tell the dolls to use the experience they have gained to make him something a little stronger and more useful. Give them a few hobos to use as raw material then when we return we can see what they build.
>>
>>25164681
Not to mention that he knows you as a vampire and is unlikely to be fooled by the cute act since you took him for quite a bit the last time you met.
>>
>>25164696

>>
>>25164650
I'm saying that because we're a vampire, it's not the best idea to be friends with the people with most access to rip your throat out or accidentally throw a wrench in carefully laid plans. I don't think Scarlet has proven herself sufficiently to rate a tentative friendship. Not yet at least.
>>
>>25164696
I think we should take personal charge of that project, maybe with doll assistance. I'd like him to keep a human appearance and intelligence so we can bring some brute muscle with us in public.

>>
>>25164713
>>25164777
>Slabley
Let's work on him when we get back. I'd say 1/4 of the dregs should suffice. We want to turn him into something presentable, a bodyguard we can take to Mark with us, not a body horror. Maybe subdermal enhancements, metal bones, extra heart, ect..
>>
>>25164733
For Maxwell, do both. He needs to learn proper etiquette and handling, and he's an unassuming set of eyes to have in Mark. He won't be working on the airfield, since that's more under our domain, but having a direct set of eyes in Grand Victoria to keep us appraised on details is good to have. Plus, it gets him out of our hair, so we don't have to hear him prattling about being embraced.

As for Slab, I wouldn't say convert him wholly into raw materials, but as others suggested, use him as a base for a giant bruiser-type of a fleshwerk.

>>25164777
At the least, AFTER giving Blackford his new airship. Slab will be the basis of our new masterpiece.
>>
>>25164733
I say we use him in Mark, he should already know how to behave as long as it's not around nobles (where we'd want to step in ourselves anyway), and he's not personal servant material IMO - doesn't really excel at anything, and would require a good amount of mindfucking to make loyal which would hurt his intelligence further. Just do some slow mindfucking to keep him from deserting, and use him as long as possible - he won't be satisfied acting as intelligence-gatherer for long I suspect, but once we think he's started to scheme we can just rip all info out of his mind.

Slab is raw materials, he's too dumb for the tradeoff to NOT be worth it anyway. Use a medium number of hobos, maybe 5 - 6 or so.
>>
>>25164777
we have an appointment to keep.
>>25164762
I like this idea. I can totally see her trying to play chess with them.
>>
>>25164733
Thinking we should make this guy a masterpiece so as much hobos as needed to optimize him.

Though we might want to do this one personally.
>>
>>25164807
Will we take Maxwell with us on the trip to the Airship Yard?
>>
>>25164839
I say no on that, we don't need any distractions, and it's not like he is going to do anything for us there. Besides, if we're devoting time to train him while there, we might miss something crucial.
>>
>>25164733
>What porportion of hobos?
We can get more any time we want. Tell them not to be wasteful but I don't care if they use them all.

>So, do we give Maxwell a job as an agent in Mark, get him to study under our valet,
Have him trained for now. We'll get better use from him as an agent after we improve him a bit.

>Should we use Slab as raw materials?
I can not think of any other uses for him.
>>
>>25164839
Bring him, send him down to the workers to find out gossip - what they think of us, if there are any pressing issues, etc.
>>
>>25164883
We can do that ourselves. I don't want Maxwell working on the airship: my latent paranoia tells me he'll try to sabotage the airfield to draw attention to himself and press the issue to be embraced, and that's shit we're not willing to deal with right now.
>>
>>25164903
working on the airfield*
>>
>>25164839
Leave him at home to train under the Butler.
We've got business to deal with and no real use for him. He'll just be a distraction.
>>
>>25164903
If he's that fucking stupid we might as well be forewarned so we can mindrape him and use him however we can right away. And the workers know who we are now, not to mention that we are effectively a little girl, which has already prevented us from receiving information with the mayor. He'd have better luck.
>>
>>25164839
Personally, I'd like to just keep leading Maxwell on letting him think he's important to us, then make a snack out of him when he least expects it for maximum lulz.
>>
As you head towards the front gate, you realize that you have blood all over the front of your dress. Hardly a suitable state to receive a fellow vampire in Mark.

One hasty change of clothes later, you're stepping into a carriage bound for the airship yard, a crisp set of businesswear making your childlike form much older-looking. The constricting garment seems to help steady your nerves, and by the time you arrive you're feeling as cool and calm as ever.

It would appear that the airship isn't due to be picked up for another hour or two; you've arrived in plenty of time. Do you wish to do anything while you wait for the Earl to arrive?

Let him study I say. We'll deal with all the servants in turn when we return.

More of a general question. Since our low grade suggestion/dominate ability doesn't damage people's brains and promotes loyalty why aren't we using it more? Like WAY MORE. However attached people may feel about Scarlet, is anybody really opposed to doing this to the maid, Maxwell, Rose, ect.?
>>
>>25164947
Intelligent and/or clued in people may notice when it's used on them. That's the obvious drawback.
>>
>>25164947
I advocated leaving it off the maid for now just so we see what we're working with; the rest are fairly easy to read after all. Start using it on her in a few days. Not opposed for the rest of the rabble.
>>
>>25164960
Scarlet, who probably has the best willpower and intelligence of our servants, and who has her own dominate ability, failed against us (barely but she did). I don't see Snackwell noticing it, and if he does? We weren't terribly attached to him anyways.
>>
>>25164945

It doesn't, but we don't need to keep it up 24/7, as it's just wasteful. And as Alucard pointed out, people will notice sooner or later.
>>
>>25165037
You take a moment to take stock of the airship yard's running operations.

Employee satisfaction seems to be up, and from what you hear from the foreman, the other airships are being built much faster now that they can be worked on in parallel. You'll have all the current commissions done by the end of next week at this rate.

There haven't been any new commissions yet, though.

>>25165083
Stand at attention with the foreman next to us where the earl's coach will come to a stop. Greet him personally, and show him to his completed airship. Have the foreman run over the specs as we give Blackford a full walkthrough of his ship.

Keep professional.
>>
>>25165083
Politely and professionally, no need to be rude. Greet him personally, thank him for his patronage and show him his airship personally while the foreman gives him specifications.

After we deal with the raw business parts we'll want to get him alone and ask a bit about Nalus, mention that we did him a favor some time back and were wondering how he was getting on.
>>
>>25165083
Elegantly, meet him at the coach, and escort him to the airship, it's complete now isn't it? Pass off a message now that the airship needs to be prepared for dining.

We can sit in with him and have a brief tea while discussing paperwork and delivery, then move onto other things, mainly his cousin, the nosferatu.
>>
You know, since our soilders can be flesh-sculpted without our interference we could probably make a brisk business selling them. We'd either need to partner with someone with a steady supply of raw materiel or acquire it our-self though.
>>
>>25165083
Warm and conciliatory. Talk up how much money we've sunk into this place. Maybe give him something of value as a bribe (sell him the holdings in Ulvenwald for a song?). Then start pumping him for information about his family.

>>25165100
We've got lots of time. At the very least the more expendable of them who aren't likely to make the saves (Slab, maid, Maxwell) would make good targets. If they do catch on then we just consider them sunk investments and convert them to raw materials. There are lots of hobos in the world.

I still say we should continue with Scarlet since she is so close to us and so dangerous. We've degraded her will once already. I know nobody else will support this though.
>>
>>25165083
As has been mentioned, polite and friendly but not overly so as to seem gloating or self-satisfied.

Other vampires probably have their own sentries (spirits, demons, etc.).

>>25165083
Be business like but generally friendly.

When we sit down to talk, make sure to thank him for the generous deal he gave us. Try to mention the large investments we had to put into it but tell him we are still pleased with it.

If he thinks he sold us a fixer-upper, he might be less displeased about the deal.

Assuming he's not bitter as fuck and boiling with rage, make some small talk and maybe ask about his kin.

Only if he's in a good mood. If he's pissed off, just stick to business.

Fortunately, you took the time in this last hour or so to actually tour the Earl's ship so you won't acidentally confuse the captain's cabin for the kitchen.

Not that it has much of a kitchen, but...

In any case, the Earl Blackford is greeted by the sight of you and the foreman waiting for him as he alights from his coach. Even in the darkness of early night, your vampiric vision picks him out easily as he tips his hat to you politely.

"The Lady Markova, I see! Good to see you once again, my dear. I take it you're here to make sure the transfer of the ship goes smoothly, hm?"

You nod to him, and curtsey, as befits your relative rank both here and in Shadescast.

"Yes, milord. I hope you appreciate the fine craftsmanship put into the vessel."

He smiles at you with quite a bit of teeth.

"I know exactly what sort of craftsmanship was put into the vessel, my dear; I supervised its construction personally. Or did you forget that this was my shipyard until recently?"

You shake your head.

"Of course not, Lord Blackford."

He nods to you.

"Well then, let's get on with business."

The transfer of title is simply enough done, but the Earl declines your invitation to dine aboard his ship.

"It's utterly presumptuous for you to invite me to dine aboard my own ship, don't you agree, little girl?"

You apologize, of course, but the damage is done, and you have no chance to grill the lord for any information on his cousin. The ship is duly sold, and the Earl flies off in his new smuggler's blimp, piloting the entire thing alone. A multitalented vampire, that one.

Note to self: learn to pilot airship and be that smug.

Lets see if we can't funnel some of the virtual funds into aircraft manufacture to legitimise it while we're here, check up on business andthen time to fleshcraft.
>>
>>25165397
Well. Shit. That could've gone better.
Whatever. Blackford is a stuffy type. We'll let that one go. The fact is, his project is done, his airship is still ours, and we're now far ahead of previous timetables. We should ask about commissioning our own ship, especially after that surplus of holdings from claiming the Ulvenwald village. Unfortunately, we're gonna have to do some manual legwork to get more information on Nalus.

Well, let's get Maxwell situated and start his training before we retire to begin crafting our next masterpiece out of Slab.
>>
>>25165481
Can we turn him into Deadpool?
Movie version, of course, not comic version. As awesome as the latter is, we don't need the 4th wall broken in 10 places.
>>
Rolled 50

>>25165397
>Well, you blew that lead. Anything else you wish to do?
Welp...

To the castle! We should probably continue our investigation.

We've been sidetracked enough, let's get back before we forget where we were.

Rolling Acumen to see if we can remember any helpful details from the scrying.

Failing that, compare our list of likely enemies to our list of recent guests to the castle and see who's connected to both lists.
>>
>>25165478
Oh right the merchant fleet, we wanted that. Let's funnel our meta-money into building a ship while the yards are open. That way the numerologist can generate more.

THEN we make flesh horrors.
>>
>>25165471
>>25165478
Fleshcrafting is quite the relaxing hobby of ours, but shouldn't we focus on recovering selim first, we just blew a major lead. And every minute he is missing, who knows what's happening.
The dollnapper obviously has some form of magic available to them, perhaps they want to figure out our fleshcrafting techniques. We need to get this issue fixed soon, because what if they decide they need more?

Alucard, in the world of fleshcrafting where does our skill rate. Bum, hipster, hobbyist, artist, skilled artist, pays the bills, or master?
>>
>>25165519
We're making our big bruiser enforcer and using Slab as a base.
>>
We also now know about the scrying defenses. So we might be able to make a ritual that funnels anything like defense attacking us to something else..like a hobo or the wall or something.

Just a thought.
>>
>>25165533
right. Our "knight" if you will. Chess theme sounds fun.
>>
>>25165531
That remains the most prominent issue. We have to find out the identity of who MERKED us, wrecked our castle and stole our doll, and we have to make him pay.
>>
>>25165533

Deadpool has laser eyes?
>>
>>25165561
I think equipping him like a medieval knight would be fun.
>>
>>25165397
God damn it.

Random examination of the rolling system, we have absurd Acumen, 54, that's so far above average, yet on most tasks involving intelligence we been shown to have a 46% chance of failure on them. That's way too high a chance of failure for something basic like not offending the fuck out of a guest.

And often we're required to make multiple rolls targeting multiple stats to do an action which lowers the rate of success on it manipulatively, look at the scrying, we did great on the Eeriness, but because we fucked up the Acumen we ended up getting very little from the scrying and taking giant buckets of Hunger.

Let's say we have to do some Fleshcrafting, we might need to roll Acumen and Eeriness, that gives us a 67.6% chance of fucking up at least one of the rolls and we're supposed to be so far above the norm at this that it isn't even funny.

Add both of these together and we'll be failing things we should succeed at more often than not. It's not just /tg/ dice, it's just the law of large numbers.

Two things, first, situational bonuses should be easier to get, it should only be a straight roll against the stat for a difficult task, second, allowing for other more bonuses from sources such as skills and equipment, if we're familiar with a subject, such as Vampiric or Victorian Etiquette, Fleshcrafting, Scrying, yadda yadda, or have a book that involves the subject we're researching.
>>
>>25165526
>Oh right the merchant fleet, we wanted that. Let's funnel our meta-money into building a ship while the yards are open.
Wait on the airships. We only have 8 holdings to spend (and 4 of them are voodoo economics).

We were going to build up some funds with slave gold for a few weeks.

Once the Mayor is our BFF we might be able to get a better deal on our trade licence. We can start work on our fleet then.
>>
>>25165620
That's why roll under d100 systems tend to suck balls.
>>
>>25165607
He does in the movie.

The movie was crap though.
>>
>>25165622
If our voodoo gold is passively generated then getting it off the books as fast as possible is advisable. What better place to launder it too? If we fail the acumen check here at least we'll be robbing ourselves.
>>
>>25165571
Yes it is, how should we proceed with the investigation?

Do we know where this nosferatu guy lives? I propose we take the offense and start making active inquiries, yes it will draw attention to ourselves, we can then try to scry again if we have deadends. If Selim has been moved following our inquistion, we may be able to surmise that we hit a nerve and can follow that.
>>
>>25165525
Why are you rolling? You know it's only going to be taken if the results amuse the OP, which generally won't be good for us...so why?
>>
>>25165607
Movie version does, yes. The lasers were strong enough to cut apart the funnel for a nuclear reactor after he got decapitated.
>>
>>25165620
Multiple stat roll is either you need to succeed on multiple things in a single post or one is sufficient.

See where you failed Eeriness but succeeded Celerity in the forest and tore the guy's throat out.

Actually, you fucked up the Discipline which meant you failed to resist defenses that your enemy had set up.

Any modifiers you had here were negative.

>>25165655
Hey, sometimes I do give you guys a break, but failure drives plots.
>>
>>25165647
I never said it was good; I just thought that its incarnation of Deadpool was a bit more appropriate here. Again, we don't want him to be a chatterbox and laser eyes are a plus, if possible.
>>
>>25165620
And for fleshcrafting, you would roll Eeriness and Acumen but only have to succeed on one of them.
>>
>>25165620
Not seeing a problem here, high risk of vamping out goes hand in hand with being a vampire and living in a horror setting.
>>
>>25165654
>Do we know where this nosferatu guy lives?
He was a client of ours, I suspect we know where he lives.

But don't get fixated on him. He was only a single name on our list of potential enemies.
We were only focusing on him because we had the chance to ask Blackford about him. (we blew that)

We need to look at our list of recent guests in the castle (who could have stolen the Doll) and compare it to our list of possible enemies.

Once we find the name connected to both lists, we have a prime suspect.
>>
>>25165726
Nalus is on both of those lists. But we lost our chance to get anything more on him easily.
>>
>>25165726
That's a key issue. We don't have a single solid lead beyond the idea ripped from the hunter's mind that his client was someone in Shadescast. Unfortunately, that's a wide net to cast. We're kinda dead in the water as far as leads go. Hopefully, when someone finds out we're okay, they can come forward with a hot tip as to who sicced the hunter on us.
>>
>>25165691
>Hey, sometimes I do give breaks...
I find this marginally disappointing, but accept it as a necessary (if ineffective) deterent to roll trolls.
>>
>>25165747
Reiterating a question from >>25165013, what happened to the hunter's warhammer after we recovered Rose?
>>
>>25165726
There are 35 vampires who have recently visited your castle.
You accidentally started a riot in the Republic of Mori a few years ago that had bad consequences for basically all the nobility in the area near Mori.

Those two lists have a lot of overlap, to the tune of 20 vampires.

You're going to need to add a few more criteria.
>>
>>25165735
Was he? How was he connected to recent guests?

If an associate of his entered our castle as a guest and maybe stole our Doll, that would be a good place to start looking.
>>
>>25165753
Rarely. Nobody's spotted me doing it yet.
>>
>>25165735
Right! We need to learn more about the cat's paw if we're every going to figure out who's after us.
>>
>>25165782
If you want me to quickly summarize what you know, roll Acumen. This is a routine check, so you get -20 to your roll (+20 to your stat.)
>>
Rolled 45

>>25165795
Ok lets see.
>>
>>25165779
Oh, on an entirely unrelated note, what would happen if we ate another vampire? Not just its heart, all of it. Asking because I'm wondering why there was enough of our sire's body left to incinerate and speared over a sunlit field.
>>
>>25165761
Okay. I doubt our Doll was missing /that/ long without us noticing. Our Acumen is 54. We are quite smart and observant.

Can we narrow it down to guests received in the last 2 months?

That should give us a workable starting point.
>>
>>25165761
Plus, this is only following the trend of vampires who specifically might have it out for us. For all we know, it could be someone unrelated to anything that has either had an eye on us for years and is looking to take us out, or just attacked us out of the blue for no reason.
>>
>>25165806
> The vampire took your doll, so he was in your castle.
> The person holding your doll has access to powerful magic that can interrupt your scrying.
> They have a grudge against you that makes them want to hurt you.
> The Hunter came from the Ulvenwald door, so whomever spoke to him must have been in Ulvenwald at some time in the past.
>>
>>25165795
Not looking for a summary, just stating my opinion that our only lead is I fact being used by another party. Whether he is aware of that fact is a separate matter entirely.
>>
>>25165832
So vampires who at least match us in Eerieness and have connections in Ulvenwald are where we should start.
>>
>>25165853
In fact, not I fact...
>>
>>25165832
Okay, could you revisit the list of visitors? Nalus was on that right?
>>
>>25165866
Let's start with magic-potent vampires (unless that's a trend among a lot of vampires) as a seed.
>>
>>25165902
Nalus is an idiot, though. I wouldn't take him as a magical powerhouse.
>>
>>25165832

Then we better think about vampires that visited with good magic potential.

Also I'm curious now since vampires work on a generation system how rare is the lower generations? Talking like generation 3-5?
>>
>>25165866
Good, we're starting to narrow it down a little.

>Most likely someone who has visited in the last 2 months.
>Someone with holdings or a connection to Ulvenwald.
>Someone with big juju.
>Likely connected to our list of possible enemies.
>>
>>25165927
Okay, earlier it was stated that there were 35 vampires who we may have annoyed by fucking with Mori 4 years ago and starting a riot.

Cross reference those with holdings in Mori and Ulvenwald, we know that Nalus had holdings in Mori, not sure about Ulvenwald though.
>>
>>25165927

Though it is possible the connection to Ulvenwald is a trap. After all If I wanted to screw with some vampire I would send a hunter though a door a decent length away from my domain. Arranging transportation after all you don't want if you fail that vampire to know where your holding are.
>>
>>25165927
>>25165832
If you apply these two additional criteria, you're left with three candidates.

A vampire of the line of Lestat, Agen Lioncourt. Tenth of his line, if you recall correctly. He was staked by an angry mob as a direct result of your riot in Mori, and lost much of his holdings as well. Now he has property in Ulvenwald as a way of avoiding future entanglements.

The second is the same Nosferatu that you attempted to inquire about today. Not that he has the metaphysical muscle himself, but you have heard that he has a powerful human mage on his staff. He also has some property in Ulvenwald, mostly because he can't find any anywhere else.

The third is your sister. Not that she's been here recently that you know of, but she would know where to find the dolls and the castle well enough to avoid your servants. She's a metaphysical match for you, and holds property in Ulvenwald.
>>
>>25165902
We did a commission for Nalus about 4 years ago.

He was on our list of potential enemies because he fumbled our plan and got himself fucked. He might be bitter.
>>
>>25165967
Another question is how widely known our holdings in Ulvenwald are? There's a good chance that the culprit has no ties to Ulvenwald, and is using that to minimize suspicion.
>>
>>25166022
Not particularly well, but there are metaphysical ways of finding where a castle like yours is manifested.
>>
>>25165997
Or
Dearest Daddy wants his HEART BACK YOU LITTLE UNGRATEFUL BITCH!

Beware of CAPs above. Fair warning.
>>
>>25165997
>Agen Lioncourt & Nalus.

Did either of them come to the castle in person during this time of did they send a 3rd party?

If they sent a 3rd party, that could be a starting point.

Also, do we know any good information brokers in Shadescast?
>>
>>25165997
Well that's narrowed it down a lot. Three people.

I'm not thinking it's our Sister, she's got her own sets of responsibilities and if she wanted to hit us after hundreds of years she'd fuck us harder than just that, not just slapping us on the wrist.

What more do we know about Agen Lioncourt and Nalus? What did Nalus come to visit about when he dropped by? What did Agen come for when he visited? Did they bring anyone with them when they came by?
>>
>>25166082
This is a possibility you are trying your hardest not to think about.

Also rather unlikely because you would probably be dead by now if this was your Sire.
>>
>>25165997
Who among them would have had access to a Holy warhammer? Granted, they're probably all powerful enough to make it trivial, and the Hunter may have brought it, but it's still useful information.
>>
>>25166100
Agen was consulting on fleshcrafting. He wanted to make some form of liquid assassin, you believe. It was complex work, even for you.

Nalus was basically asking for you to have pity on him and give him money because it's your fault he's fallen so far. You told him to go away. Politely, of course.
>>
>>25166088
Technically, Isabella is an information broker of sorts. However, she deals in lore and knowledge, not political dealings and networking.
>>
>>25166082
If it was him we'd probably be chained up in a dungeon at this point in horrific agony and be trying to kill ourself.
>>
>>25166103
Unless he's in the toying mood or busy raising another spawn, but I admit we're probably not going to meet him anytime soon
>>
>>25166125
The holy warhammer was the vampire hunter's business, not the vampire's. It's a moot point. I'm still wondering where it went.
>>
>>25165997
Who is this Lincourt fellow to us? Was he one of the nobles involved with that riot incident?

If it was our sister why now? Have we had any contact with her lately, as in the past decade or so?

Could we tell if magic is being cast by a human rather than a vampire?
>>
>>25166132
Did Agen learn what he came for?

Nalus sounds like a possibility for the hunter, but not for the doll.
>>
>>25166125

Would anyone try to avenge him?

If that's possible we can eliminate a suspect.
Either he did it and we'll know.
Or he didn't and we'll know.

Maybe she is offended we named a blood elemental after her and wants to hug and hold hands with us long into the eternal night and then spill our cake icing all over the kitchen floor.
If you know what I mean.
>>
>>25166275
I don't expect it to be as simple as snatching hobos from Eyesocket but if we scouted him out properly and prepared accordingly, I think we can do it.

>>
>>25166275
We could offer to give him some money in exchange for a discretely performed service. Invite him over. Then eat him.

>>
>>25166308
Scarlet was created after we woke up from death.
>>
>>25166282

>>
>>25166308
>Maybe she is offended we named a blood elemental after her
Not connected. We created Scarlet /after/ the attack.
>>
A little too soon to rush into mind raping. We do however want to use these talents to build up a decent force.
>>
>>25166345
You get the point, though. Nalus is connected to Blackford, so if we're going to move against him, we have to be careful.

Also, autosage has begun.
>>
>>25166339

>>
>>25166339

I am on board with mindraping and killing him.
But not that way!
>>
>>25166379
So what is the most politically acceptable way to go about this according to vampire law?
>>
>>25166339
What if he ran afoul of a "werewolf" in the dark and dangerous forest on his way to our castle, a wolf that sometimes we call Fluffy? Then him being our guest, we come to his timely rescue, ward of the attacker, then ask him a few pointed questions?
>>
>>25166404
Probably it happening without it being able to be traced back to us.
>>
>>25166347
That's my point, she really doesn't have a motive to do anything to us right now. Logic says it was likely the Nosferatu.
>>
>>25166417
Now we have to figure out the intricacies of vampire politics. This is gonna be tricky.
>>
>>25166404
If you have a serious quarrel with a fellow vampire, ritual combat is common.

The choice of weapons is simple and ancient: Will, skill, energy, or flesh.
All duels are to the death. Each party has the right to veto one choice of weapon.
>>
>>25166457
Skill is skill at arms. Flesh is unarmed combat.
Energy is magical duelling. Will is a contest of wills.
>>
>>25166457
Considering that we don't know with 100% certainty that it's him, and that it could end horribly even without the /tg/ dice going murderous, let's try to avoid that one.
>>
>>25166477
Otherwise, 'accidents' are routinely arranged, though if you're sloppy enough to botch your assassination you'll be dragged before the elders for punishment.
>>
Wow, for a thread with 300+ posts very little has been accomplished.
>>
>>25166457
>>25166477

Did anything odd happen during either Agen's or Nalus's visits? Did we leave either of them without supervision for a time? Did either of them bring servants with them to our house?

Do we know what sort of thing both of them specialize in?
>>
>>25166414
that's not bad namefag, it's outside our castle too so we don't have to worry about such things as guest rules.
>>
>>25166499
Since we're in autosage, better archive the thread.
>>25166514
And yes, this has been a surprisingly low-content thread.
>>
>>25166457
Absolutely not. He'd veto will and force us to fight him (likely with magic). It's to the death so we can't question him then. And whoever robbed us will be tipped off and run.

>>25166499
Accident time.

>>25166514
It's an issue, we faff about even more than tavern quest.
>>
>>25166537
Our fortes are Will and Energy. He can't veto both of them.
>>
>>25166457
Not advocating this yet but I have some questions for if we did challenge him.

1, I assume he would veto Will or Magic. If we vetoed armed combat, could we hold our own long enough to fuck him with our mojo?

2, Do duels /have/ to be to the death? Could we take him prisoner if we wanted?

3, Do we get all his servants, holdings, ect if we win?

>>All duels are to the death.
He'll veto will because it's our strength, meaning we'll HAVE to kill him. Bad end.
>>
>>25166586
In the case of loss of a duel, generally the winner eats the loser.
This is a binding transfer of all lands and titles in Shadescast, but will take explanation elsewhere.
You'd be expected to kill him. If you left him alive he would become your enemy for life, because that would be public humiliation (he wasn't even worth killing.)
>>
>>25166638
>>25166616
However, you might be able to dominate and mindrape him before killing him.
>>
>>25166638
If you left him alive, transfer of lands would be up to the Elders.
>>
>>25166638
Alucard what are the odds of something like this working?>>25166414
>>
>>25166414
>>25166520
This could be promising.

We'd have to create more than one.
Probably upgrade them with some basic stealth.
Find his holdings in the woods.
Have them stalk around the area.
Attempt to lure him out. (human bait wander past his crib)

Yeah. We'll need to gather a lot more intel, and probably adjust the plan to fit what we learn, but this seems like a good frame-work.
>>
>>25166668
Still sounds like a raw deal. He doesn't have much worth taking, it gives us way too much visibility, and puts us in mortal danger.

>>25166678
Supporting accident.
>>
>>25166414
Then as it was outside the boundaries of your walls no guest right is violated. As for wether he'd be grateful... maybe? He's none too bright, so possibly.
>>
>>25166616
>He'll veto will because it's our strength, meaning we'll HAVE to kill him
That's fine as long as we get his holdings.

Then we can question his former servants and search for a cell holding our Doll.

If we find it. Great.
If we don't, we've narrowed down our suspects and gained in power.

Also, we get a new House Name. We want a new House Name.
>>
>>25166730
Hehehe, that's more our style. If we took advantage of his weakened condition after the attack because we found out that he slighted us, would we still be granted his holdings?
>>
>>25166745
Actually, no, you won't gain a new house name.

Unfortunately, Nalus is further from his Head of House than you are from yours.

So you would remain a Markova, because you would be 12 in the line of Carmilla, 20th in the line of Orlov.
>>
>>25166730
Alucard, what are the rules about challenging a wounded/crippled Vampire?

If that's an option we could arrange an 'accident' THEN challenge him.

We gain the information we want, gain new holdings and get a new House Name.
>>
>>25166783
And the name Orlov also is a pretty disreputable one.
>>
>>25166775
So long as you eat him you keep his holdings. Circumstances are irrelevant.
You'd even get the holdings if you broke guest right (though you'd then be immediately stripped of them.)
>>
>>25166799
Markova is a quite respectable house name.
You just have personal issues with associating with it.
>>
>>25166783
Wow he is way down the line. It's almost revolting to take his essence.
>>
>>25166818
He's barely a noble, and likely to remain so.
>>
>>25166800
That settles it for me, I say let loose the dog of war after inviting him over.
>>
>>25166800
Oh, cool.

Fuck the formal challenge then.

>Arrange ambush.
>Fuck his shit up.
>Eat him while he's defenceless.
>Gain his holdings.
>Question servants and search for Doll.
>>
>>25166841
At that point, the question is whether or not Fluffy can actually kick Nalus's ass. The saying goes that "if you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough."
>>
>>25166852
Only problem with that is if it's Agen Lioncourt and we just tipped our hand something fierce by going after him.

>>25166860
60 Ferocity and 60 Celerity, that's one hell of a beatstick.

And we provide support for him with the Soldiers and us and Scarlet throwing Blood/Shadow magic and he should go down without much trouble.
>>
>>25166860
Nalus is an idiot. But he is physically fast and powerful, even for a vampire.
>>
>>25166800
Looks like it's time to get
*shades*
heart of the matter.
>>
>>25166841
No, Nonononono. NOOOOOOO!

Do not invite him over. Guests right.
>Make army of stealth Fluffys.
>Find his crib.
>Lure him out with some human bait wandering past.
>Ambush and eat.
>>
>>25166897
Guestright only applies within the physical boundaries of your property.
>>
>>25166882
And that's my concern.
>>
>>25166882
Could you give us a vague approximation of that in numeric terms?
>>
>>25166906
And I'm heading off to sleep now. I may answer a few questions more, but probably not many.
>>
>>25166897
As long as it's outside, we should be alright, maybe the Earl will view us as even a bit enterprising and appreciate us for removing that blight on his house. We may also become more chummy with him since we're now "family".
>>
>>25166514
For what it's worth, we're figuring out a lot of things. There may not be much narrative in this thread, but there are still plans and worldbuilding being done.
>>
>>25166906
So if we invite him over but kill him before he arrives/after he leaves it's legal?

That seems in bad form and I suspect there would be social consequences even if it's legal.

Who would ever accept our invitations ever again?

No, we shall be the proper hostess we have always been.

We will ambush and murder him in the woods like a civilised Vampire.
>>
>>25166918
Next time on "I want to be the vampire Loli", can our hero's pet handle a vamp, or will it bite off too much? I sure hope so Jimmy, ha, ha, ha.
>>
>>25166963
>So if we invite him over but kill him before he arrives/after he leaves it's legal?
As long as it's not actually on the estate, yes.
>>
>>25166930
No. I vote against sending a false invite.

It would have social and financial consequences even if it didn't have legal ones.
Who would ever accept our invitations again?
>>
>>25166913
You think he might have a shot at taking down your Hound in a wrestling match. And he can fly, so...
>>
>>25167020
But we're not just sending one Fluffy; we're sending a pack of them. Not only that, but they'll be stealth puppies with some level of discipline.
>>
>>25167020
Defiantly not going in half cocked.

We'll make some more attack dogs before we go in.

Also, some more solders with guns and flyers too.
>>
>>25167011
The only one getting invited is Nalus, unless he writes an open letter to the whole community saying "hey Izzy is inviting me over, she murdered me if I don't reply in 3 days!"

I doubt anyone would give a duck if he was stupid enough to do it anyway.
>>
>>25167040
If you can make stealth fluffier, then yes.
>>
>>25167059
I'm thinking
>some sort of noise reduction. We should probably make his feet padded like those of an actual dog, and maybe make sure his armor doesn't clink (if it would).

>Visibility reduction: he's in the woods, so we should probably paint him black. Glamours help.

>Clip vocal cords. We might be able to give more discipline, but probably not enough to keep him from barking.

I think that's sufficient.
>>
>>25167056
Autocorrect strikes again...
I think we ended in a good spot. Hopefully next time moves quicker like earlier episodes. I like the debate but we got really sidetracked today.
Also thanks Alucard for repealing the name rule, I feel like a real participant.
>>
>>25167056
Yes, because when the Elders sign over the holdings to us there is zero chance of one of his servants mentioning the invite.

If their former master dies, there is a very good chance some of them will run away before we get settled in.

Or maybe he just mentions to a friend he got an invite from us.

There are a billion ways this could become public knowledge.

Taking a little more time to plan the ambush costs us nothing.
The damage to our reputation could cost us much.

No invite.
>>
>>25167102
Remember, he isn't a dog at all he is a totally mindbroken vampire Hunter molded into a dog form. With enchanted porcelain claws, and a thirst for blood.
>>
Hate to be that guy but we're already in autosage so.... could we not fuck around so much? I really like the quest but we get sweet fuck all accomplished. Somehow we discuss things for hours yet never come to a consensus.
>>
>>25167151
Right. I know he used to be the hunter, but I wasn't sure how accurate the description as an attack dog was. Still, I think borrowing padded feet from real dogs would help with stealth.
>>
>>25167252
Agreed. Where were we, Alucard, going to the airship yard? Let's do that. We can discuss future things in the future.
>>
>>25167301
He gone mang. I'm just talking about in general. It's not surprising that we're so bad about it. Op doesn't run with a lot of notes, barely ever railroads us, and has a metric buttload of players. Still though it's starting to get on my nerves a bit.
>>
>>25167349
I feel you, I actually told him to >getonwithit.jpg
and he typed up the section where we arrived at the shipyard. It's up to is to keep it moving because if we don't tell him we want to move on rather than discussing things, how should he know.
>>
>>25167349
Wow... That's it? So we came back and said sorry to Scarlet. That's all that happened.

That's pretty disappointing.
>>
>>25167349
I'm not running the quest but I'm here a little while yet.

I generally take a very free form approach. You want to do X? Go ahead, do X. Leaving Y unfinished might bite you in the ass later though.

See: Rose.

The character sheet is more or less my notes. I have a few things on my end but not a lot.
>>
>>25167413
We delivered the airship to the Earl and blew a major lead in the search for selim, then went home to sulk in our castle in shades. But yeah, not a lot got done.
>>
>>25167413
No, we did also talk with Blackford and get rebuffed. But mostly discussion's what happened.

If this continues I may put more hurry into future threads, but only if people keep complaining.
>>
>>25167457
For what it's worth, it was a necessary discussion towards goals and intentions in the near future. Now that we have a rough gameplan of who we're going after and what we should aim for, there should be more work to do. Plus, you had to explain vampire politics and etiquette, so I don't blame you for faffing about a bit to get that information out. Vampires aren't the sort to go into something half-cocked, usually.
>>
>>25167488
The system is extremely complex for a quest format. As players learn the background that will abate but it's going to be a steep curve. I honestly don't know how to fix it. Maybe prompt people more agressively to vote on actions. Puting us in more reactive situations helps. People focused in very well when we had to waste that village. And just in general not having so many open plot threads at once. It's hard for players to track with that so people latch onto their favorites and ignore everything else.
>>
>>25167540
On the plus side no namefag angst today. Weird how that goes.
>>
>>25167540
You also offer a lot of open-ended "what do you do?" questions, which can lead to previously mentioned faffing about when people are presented with full reign of freedom.
>>
>>25167457
>complaining
I think it's just one or two getting ancy.

This was necessary, we needed to narrow down our suspects and think about our options.

The only other things we could have done are:
Not look into it at all and wait for it to bite us on the ass. Or.
Not think about it and just wander blindly through the investigation. Thus, achieving nothing.

It's done now. Most of the discussing stage is out of the way.
We have two prime suspects and a plan to eliminate one of them.

Eliminate a suspect in both senses of the term.
>>
>>25167660
It's been an ongoing issue though, not just this thread.
>>
>>25167703
I don't think taking a little time to discuss things is a problem that needs fixed.

Alucards post speed isn't even that slow compared to other quests even if we do talk a lot. (except for when he falls asleep)

There was less action compared to thread length this time because we had something complicated that needed discussing before we could act. It's hardly a systemic problem with the quest.
>>
Before this falls off the page;
We're going about this wrong. No ambushes and so on until we're sure. This is dumb.

What we do, is we make a new version of Fluffy that is highly sensitive and wants to hug living porcelain dolls.

Then, we simply request a visit each castle in turn. If our new fluffy reacts, we can find out something; if not, well, we should visit on investigative matters anyway. We can do so on the pretext of seeing how each is doing with their fleshworks and the like, to catch up on so on.
