LAST TIME ON GUNDAM AGE Quest: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/25158325/

Follow me on Twitter for updates and reschedules and links to the Quests: https://twitter.com/Crosswire

Your name is Dirk Crocker, son of the nearly legendary pilot and engineer Jake Crocker. Yesterday you wiretapped your friend Akito's house and found Yurika making out with Zeheart in the forest .Why Zeheart was there in the first place is beyond you.

Sadly your investigation into Leviathan has been put to a temporary halt by a far more evil and malicious organization...

THE PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM/

Yes, it's 5:30 on a Monday and you have to be at school in an hour. You REALLY don't want to go despite having only a month of school left. Your grandparents are very strict about attending school though, so you'll have to get clever if you want to bail.

What will you do Dirk?

(My niece is taking me and my mother out for Ice Cream, I'll be back in a little bit)
>>
Multitask.
Get dressed while checking your messages and if the wire recorded something interesting.
>>
>>25177239
Get dressed, eat breakfast, check our messages.

Also send an encrypted message to our Dad informing him about Leviathan, make sure it's a secure transmission.
>>
>>25177239
We haven't tested out early? Darn. I guess with our parents having their high school education interrupted by SHENANIGANS, going through the full course is important to the Crocker family.

Eh, we might as well go. No real advantage to staying away at this point. Though if it turns out that Akito isn't at school, that's a sign he's hunting for the infiltrator. In that case, we should bail. But we need to go to school to check, first.
>>
>>25177491
Yeah. But first we need to check out our mail and notify Jake about Grodek working for Leviathan and that Akito and Yurika are with them.
And delete about 10 messages from Yurika about how she's sorry about yesterday or something like that.
>>
>>25177239
Check messages and get some breakfast.
>>
Check the wiretap messages and then get ready to go to school.

Throwing on some fairly clean clothes you make your way over to your computer and log on. You check the data feed to see if you got anything last night. At first it seems fairly unfruitful, late night phone calls to Zeheart from Yurika, Yurin talking with her husband and a lot of static internet surfing, mostly online games and Boogle image searches. However you spot a rather unusual message directed to Akito. It's heavily encrypted and was sent through a proxy maze, so you can't track it but you have some pretty good decryption programs on your computer. Your soon able to read the message in it's entirety.

"YOUR REPORT WAS SATISFACTORY. THE RED SUIT IS MOST LIKELY EQUIPPED WITH A PORTABLE INVISIBLE UMBRELLA SYSTEM. THE RED SUIT IS STILL IN THE COLONY, SUGGESTING THERE ARE VAGAN SPIES IN YOUR MIDST. THE RISE OF LEVIATHAN MUST NOT BE HINDERED. YOU HAVE FULL CLEARANCE TO ELIMINATE ANYONE SUSPECTED OF BEING A VAGAN SPY. FOR THE GLORY OF THE EARTH AGENT AKITO. SUPREME COMMANDER GRODEK WILL BE AWAITING WORD ON YOU SUCCESS"

"What the hell?" You mutter before getting up and phoning Dad. You explain the message and it's mention of Grodek.

"Well I found a little out about Leviathan. It's an upcoming taskforce within the Federation military. Getting a shitload of backing and is supposed to be leading several aggressive operations while the regular military works on the Defense of Big Ring." Jake explains. "I don't like the sound of it, but if Grodek's involved maybe it's not entirely bad or it could mean they're VERY bad. I need to do more research, keep an eye on Akito but be careful, these people are hiding something..."

You say goodbye to your father and head downstairs. Munching on a quick breakfast you grab your backpack and meet up with Asemu outside.

(Cont)
>>
>>25179791
"So what's the plan?" He asks

"I want to go to school to check out if Akito's there. If he's not let's ditch or pull the old explosive diarrhea trick if things are too heavy." You explain.

"Alright that works with me, I hope we can skip though, outside of the MS club meetings every other day school's boring..." Asemu groans and you pat him on the shoulder.

"So how do you want to get to school? Walk, take the bus or do you have something else in mind?" Asemu asks.

Will Dirk?
>>
>>25179846
"Preferably some method that makes it easy to leave.

I think they'd frown on it if we brought Mobile Suits to school, so bicycles ought to work, low key, fast enough for our purposes, transportable."
>>
>>25179846
I don't suppose they allow mobile suits on school grounds
>>
>>25179846
Bus is fine. Maybe we'll overhear something from someone else on the ride. Who knows: someone might have seen something interesting during the attack.
>>
>>25179846
Bikes. Or Jake's old car, but considering how that thing has a Vagan thruster instead of a normal engine, you'd rather not risk it.
>>
>>25179846
Race. Last one has to pay for the next meal.
>>
>>25179907

Add 'Gundam Bikes' to the list of useful things. never know when you need to infiltrate a colony while being prepared for the evasion of enemy units...
>>
>>25179969
Cyclone Armor?
>>
>>25179969
Fuck that.

Gundam motorcycles.
>>
>>25179969
What would that even be? Something like the ride armors from MOSPEADA? Like, it's a motorcycle that transforms into a power armor suit. Maybe add some functionality with interfacing with the mobile suits controls. We might be able to get core lander/ motion trace system by gen 3.
>>
>>25180020
Gundam space motorcycles with rocket thrusters. And guns.
Because holy shit, those things would be useful.
>>
>>25180058
Are these motorcycles for Gundams or motorcycles based on Gundams? Because either would be cool. Especially the first one. Having our sub-flight system being a bitching rocket-cycle would be pretty awesome.
>>
>>25180047
When would we need a power-suit? The small size alone would make it useless against full mobile suits.
>>
>>25180096
Motorcycles FOR Gundams.

We could also make ourselves a motorcycle with a kickass design if we really wanted.
>>
>>25180097
Then what else would a Gundam Bike be, other than a bike for the Gundam itself? Are we going to go Kotetsushin Jeeg? Because...because that would actually be pretty awesome. Okay, new plan for gen 3: our work in modular mobile suit design will be extended to an entire suit that can break apart and slot in new parts by magnetic levitation.
>>
>>25180117
Giant motorcycles? Brings up bad memories of Victory Gundam...
>>
Why not jets?

Both.

But for the motorcycles for Gundams, I was thinking we make something like pic related. Just, you know, less Warhammer and more Gundam. Additional thrusters, high maneuverability and speed, additional weapons and something to recharge our weapons once we run out. Maybe throw some advanced EM shields just in case.
>>
>>25180096
Motorcycles for Gundams is on the same level with a Mobile Horse.

I'm not saying it's stupid, but I'm not saying it's cool either.
>>
>>25180205
G Gundam made it work.
>>
>>25180227
G Gundam doesn't even attempt to make sense.

And a goo-grenade. He used the grenade to disable the sensors, causing the pilot to open the cockpit, which he then DYNAMIC ENTRY-ed and made with his escape.

>>
>>25180289
Nope, the sensor's were taken out by shooting out the dummy balloon launchers so they'd misfire. The balloon popped and covered the X-2 in plastic.
>>
>>25180329
Well said, friend. When horse and rider are one there is nothing our blade can not cut. That's how we'll take out the Xamdrag in Gen 3. Because that thing is already a Super Robot Wars boss, anyway.
>>
>>25180367

was the plan. Bike mode for high-Mobility, Gundam mode for Increased Tactical Flexability... We could try to make Mini-Beam rifles...
>>
>>25180433
We could make it like the Bat-Cycle in the movies where it can roll it's wheels horizontally for maximum maneuverability.
>>
>>25180433
>not a miniature EM Ballista
Pleb.
>>
>>25180468

Imagine the charge of Gundam cavalry, all riding their space bikes, swords drawn while they rush towards the enemy, beam fire everywhere...

You decide to take your bikes and ride to school. Fast, fairly low profile and pretty awesome. Getting the idea of a "Gumdam Bike" you talk with Asemu about it and geek out.

You both agree that maybe some kind of bike that transformed into power armor would be a good idea for colony infiltration, but before you can hammer out the idea any further you arrive at school.

Parking your bike you and Asemu head to class and report to homeroom. There you sit down and look around. You have homeroom with Asemu, Yurika and Akito since your all in advanced placement classes, Scarlet takes regular classes so she can have time for the school musical, this years its The Pirates of Penzance.

As the teacher arrives and takes attendance you discover that Akito and Yurika are absent today meaning you should probably leave, but how? The teacher isn't going to let you waltz out. You could take for the period to end and then leave while everyone's switching classes, or you could think up a way to get out of the classroom and leave without wasting too much time.

What will you do Dirk? Any ideas?
>>
>>25180701
Taco shits would be a fine excuse. As long as our bluff check holds up.
>>
>>25180701
Fake a phonecall coming in, we should easily be able to make our phone ring.

When we pick it up say something along the lines of "Really, an emergency? In the workshop! Three raccoons and a ferret in the plasma drives? How did they even get there? No, don't try to scare them out, you'll discombobulate everything.

I'll be right there."

"I'm sorry teacher, me and Asemu have to go, it's very important."
>>
>>25180701
Is Zeheart here? Weird, he's always on time. And he always disappears before a Vagan attack...

Have MID print out two excuse cards about how we're needed today for maintaining the local Madorna workshop.
And with the great MS competition around the corner, who can blame us for spending so much time there?
>>
>>25180701
Is our X-Rounder status known? I can see the school staff knowing, as we have to have an excuse to wear our medicinal sunglasses. So they should be sensitive to the worry of us having some sort of neurological accident. Let's use that as an excuse to get out. Nothing major, just enough that we need to go get our meds. Asemu can take us to the nurse's office. Then we fake any passes we might need to get out.
>>
>>25180898
I doubt that being an X-Rounder (even a powerful one like Dirk) could pull off neurological problems, when so many other X-Rounders don't have them.

Wait. Is grandma still working at the school? Maybe she can call us in for a talk, we explain everything to her, and leave the school without much hassle.
>>
>>25180701

We could spend the Period drafting up plans for the Gundam Bikes. It would be productive AND fun filled. Not like we need homeroom anyway...
>>
>>25180701
Get and loudly argue with Asemu. Once the class is watching say "Let's take this outside." then run off.
>>
>>25180824
MID isn't with you sadly, he's recharging at home with Haro.

>>25181005
>>25180898
The teachers do know about your neurological problems considering they let you wear your glasses in school, Dad or Mom probably had Dr. Spriggans write up some paperwork. It's never been a problem before but...

You quickly take off your shades and slip them into your jacket without anyone noticing. The effect hits you immediately. A powerful pulse running through your whole body then you see it.

The teacher's going to berate the girl in front of you for chewing gum in glass

"For the last time take that god damn gum out of your mouth!" The teacher says, grinding his teeth together.

Another pulse

Girl is going reply back with snide comeback, getting sent to the office.

"Why, don't like being reminded that you don't have teeth?"

"Office. NOW"

The pulses hit, you again and again, faster and faster until blood starts to leak from your nose. You see everything around you happen before it happens. People breathing, sneezing, talking, snoring, the details keep flooding in until you feel like your head is going to explode. You raise your hand, holding your head.

"Sir, I need to go to the nurse my head's starting to hurt..."

The teacher sees the blood coming out of your nose. "Alright, do you need help getting there?"

"Yeah..." You mutter.

"I'll take him sir" Asemu offers.

"Alright, you two can go" The teacher nods and Asemu leads you out of the classroom. Once your down the hall far enough you fumble with your jacket pocket, hands shaking as you push your shades back on, killing your out of control X-Rounder powers, breathing heavily.

Asemu lets you rest as you take a sip from a water fountain and relax.

Your out of the classroom, now what about getting out of the school? There shouldn't be any major problems unless someone sees you leaving school grounds.

What do you want to do Dirk?
>>
>>25180701
Call Jack. Tell him it's an emergency, and that he needs you to get you out of the school.
>>
>>25181298
Open a window and scale the walls.
>>
>>25181298
See >>25181300 - we don't have functioning glasses here, we need to get new ones from home.
That excuse could get us out easily, even if we do get noticed.

Also, holy fuck. I don't think any X-Rounder has such side effects and powers. Dirk is insanely powerful, isn't he?
>>
>>25181395

Who did we decide was Kamile in AGE?

I know that Leviathan are the Titans...
That would make us AUEG, would that make the Vagen Axis?
Or are the Vagen the Titans and Leviathan Axis...
>>
>>25181300
Sadly, Dad's still hasn't returned home and won't be for another month. Mom will be home in a few days though.
>>25181342
>>25181395
Your better off sneaking out of school, if worst comes to worse you can use your 'defective glasses' excuse to get out of a tight spot, but if you make it seem too serious they might call your grandparents.

"Let's sneak out of her Asemu..." You say as you walk down the hall, glancing around before making your move.

You and Asemu get out without being seen by anyone. You leave via the exit in the music room which is currently empty. Asemu has the hindsight to slip a note into your sister's instrument locker regarding what happened and then you leave the school grounds, using a pair of cardboard boxes to get by a late teacher unnoticed.

"What about our bikes?" Asemu ask

"If we take them they'll be suspicious. But if we leave them then they'll probably think our parents picked us up" You explain as you dodge through allies till your at least a block away from the school.

You have escaped from school, but now it's time to track down Akito and Yurika. They are probably looking for the spy, but where would they start? What's your plan of action Dirk?
>>
>>25182531
Go home, hack into the town's security network, and initiate searching for the two.
Probably start by searching for any MS activity, and if you find nothing, check out the bugs - maybe they picked up something.

Also.
"Hey, Asemu? You knew that Yurika and Zeheart are apparently a thing?"
>>
>>25182607
Sounds good to me.
>>
>>25182531
Truly they are stealth masters. Alright then. Chances are they'd look at places where the fighting took place. Try to find evidence of where the red suit went to. However, we want to be cautious too. We act too suspiciously and they will think We are the Vagan spies.
>>
>>25182607
You and Asemu head home, avoid your grandparents and make your way into your room. You begin to hack into the town's security network when you mention something to Asemu.

"Hey, Asemu? You knew that Yurika and Zeheart are apparently a thing?"

"Really? Damn I would have never knew. I'm happy for the guy, he's always been kind of...I don't know how to put it. Cold, distant, like he didn't know how to love anyone. I'm glad he found someone, besides now I don't have to worry about Romary getting snatched from me"

"Meh, maybe your right" Asemu shrugs as you finish hacking into the colonies security systems.

You do a search for MS activity and find zilch in the past 24 hours, but there were unusual readings over by the Forest Preserve just after the Vagan attack. As for Akito and Yurika, they are definitely still in Zarth after running a facial recognition program through the colonies few security cameras.

You check to see if your bugs or taps found anything, but they haven't picked up anything remotely important.

"OK so they're in the colony, looking for a spy and possibly that Red suit. They could be over in the forest preserve What would a Vagan spy want with Zarth? What should we do Dirk" Asemu asks.

"Other than that, the only thing I can think of Akito and Yurika themselves. They are Admiral Asuno's children, after all. Not to mention they've got the Gundams and are apparently connected to this Leviathan group. If the Vagan infiltrators are trying to lure them out to take them hostage...well, then it might be good to throw subtlety to the wind and crash the party."
>>
>>25183804
"What would a Vagan spy want with Zarth. Let's see what we have here - industrial complexes, military schools, museums with still working pre-war tech..."
"And Gundams. 4 of them, to be precise. So it could be any of those things. And if they're after the Gundams, they're probably keeping an eye on the Asunos. Or on us."

"Wait, I found your suit over at the preserve. If the Asunos are working for Leviathan, they must know about it being there."
"They're going to investigate the wreckage, and when they figure out that the suit isn't there, they'll get nervous."
"Or maybe the suit was left there as a trap by a Vagan spy?"

"Pack your stuff, we're going to the preserve."

"What would a Vagan spy want with Zarth. Let's see what we have here - industrial complexes, military schools, museums with still working pre-war tech and us. The Vagan's know about Dad and Mr. Asuno, they want the Gundam's and the AGE System badly, thankfully the AGE Builder needs to be captured to be properly reverse engineered" you explain. "On top of that, Minsry is just a spit balls throw away. This place is a spies wet dream. Now pack your stuff, we're going to the preserve."

"What kind of approach should we take? Should we bring a mobile suit or some weapons in case that red suit is there? Or should we be stealthy about all this?" Asemu asks as you print out a map of the preserve.

Well Dirk?
>>
>>25184017
Oh, now there's an interesting idea. Did we interrupt a lure for the Vagans that Leviathan was conducting? Or, was there no sting operation at all? What if they left that "wreckage" behind as a dead drop for the Vagan infiltrator party? The blackbox was wiped, but the machine itself probably has worth as an early model for the Vagans to analyze before they come into mass production.
>>
>>25184132
This is a sneaking mission. Taking the suits without any kind of weapons will only end badly.
>>
>>25184169

Such a situation would surely be no problem for the Gundam Bikes! Should we have the inclination to make them... for future operations...
>>
>>25184132
"We'll be stealthy. If the place is a trap, they'll expect us in a MS."
"And we have no weapons to speak of - besides your crappy whip thingy designed by yours truly, and some good old robo-fisticuffs."

>>25184154
I think that there was a sting operation. Maybe to drag Zeheart in, so they could jump him.
And because we interrupted, it's going to be Dirk and Asemu who're going to be regarded as possible Vagan spies.
>>
>>25184132
"This is a sneaking mission, Snake."
>>
>>25184132
What kind of weapons do we have access to? If we have anything concealable that we're proficient in (I imagine that if Jake would teach his kids to use mobile suits, he'd teach them to use guns), let's take it. The emphasis should be on subtlety. But we should have something very unsubtle in case we need to cause chaos. Can we use the tracking system the AGE Builder uses to have the Merlin home in on our location?
>>
>>25184302
Dirk's "Small Firearms" skill is 2%. Burt Gummer wouldn't give him a loaded gun if the Vagans invaded tomorrow.

The problem is that if we could get the Proto-Adele out of there without anyone knowing, so could Zeheart. Why bother with a raiding party like that? I'm thinking that the attack was planned already for a different reason, and Zeheart's just checking out the Forest Preserve because of what he heard from us at the party. I think the attack was much like it was in canon, and it's meant to lure out the Gundams and their pilots,
>>
>>25184377
Well, damn. Maybe Asemu is better at it. I don't think we have his stat block.
>>
>>25184405
I guess you have a point.
So, we're either going to run into Zeheart, Leviathan, or we'll interrupt a battle between the Asunos and Zeheart.

While we're at the computer, we should check out Zeheart, just in case.
Something about him disappearing today doesn't feel right. And if he's an X-Rounder, there's probably some data on him.
Then we find out that the only other Galette in the records is Desil.
>>
We should work on something to call the Gundam to our side. Like in the watch in Big O.
>>

Despite your shitty handling of weapons, you have a very large arsenal hidden here on your property. Anti-Material Rifles, Rocket Launchers, a few assault rifles, pilots and lots of ammo. It's all hidden under the workshop, just in case.

That will be our equivalent of the AGE-FX. Just a straight-up super robot. Because half the Gen 3 Vagan designs are Super Robot genre enemy mecha, so we might as well rise to the occasion.

Now that I think about it, is the FX going to need a different name for this timeline? I mean, we've already got the AGE-X and AGE-2X. We wouldn't want anyone getting confused about the mobile suit's design lineage.
>>
>>25184836
That's implying the FX will even be built.
Because if Leviathan are The Titans, then I'm afraid we're gonna have to find Akito and MURDER HIM MURDER HIM MURDER HIM MURDER HIM! To protect the Earth Sphere from devastation, of course.
>>
>>25184836
So would it be the AGE-G, the AGE-GX, or the G-AGE?
>>
>>25184793
Change Stealing into Stealth. Let's streamline a bit and use that skill for every shady activity in the book.
And I guess he has higher Acrobatics than we do.

>>25184836
Considering how the Gen-3 Crusader is going to be the combination of Gurren Lagann, EVA-01 and Gundam, it's most likely we're going to end up with something that doesn't give a fuck about physics and is so fucking metal it's name is a power chord.
>>
>>25184793
Asemu's kind of kitted out to be a roguish type when he grows up, isn't he? Good to know that if he does become Captain Ash in this timeline, it will be an easy transition for him.

As for what we should take with us, let's get Asemu a pistol. Dirk should take some explosives in case we need to create a big distraction. I figure rigging something to explode should fall under engineering, right?
>>
>>25184920
Gen-3 Crusader will be Genesic GaoGaiGar.
>>
>>25184920
We need to somehow get the Crusader to play it's equivilent of Trombe on loud speakers. I don't CARE if space is a vacuum, we will get them to hear it!
>>
>>25184920
>something that doesn't give a fuck about physics and is so fucking metal it's name is a power chord
So, Gunbuster? Kill count of two-hundred-fifty million in just one battle, and it has homing lasers, somehow.
>>
>>25184981
Broadcast it unencrypted on all frequencies, of course.
>>
>>25184952
So, should we get to work rigging the Camelot to be able to transform into a giant hammer, then? With, like, the Photon Blaster Cannon's aperture at the striking surface?
>>
>>25184999
Nah, not the Camelot.
We're going to combine with Big Ring.
>>
>>25184920
>>25184952
I think we should stay mildly Gundam. And hell, a Mobile Fighter is already game breaking enough. Just look at Nether Gundam, it made it to the Gundam Fight Finals without a Single Loss.
>>
>>25184987
There are homing lasers in AGE. The AGE-3O has one. Sure, it needs AI control or X-Rounder powers to use right, but no reason our gen 3 protagonist can't have one or the other of those. Especially if Scarlet does wind up with Asemu and we get to have Kio done right for our character.
>>
>>25185018

>>

Yuriko? Yuriko isn't his love interest. Yet. I mean, she likes him (or liked him), but he didn't react to her advances.
And if we go to the Military Academy, we might meet a new love interest.

If Dirk breaks, it will be most likely because his X-Rounder powers went berserk, and he relieves The Wall.
>>

After grabbing a video camera you sneak down to the workshop and pop open the hidden armory. You hand Asemu a 10mm Pistol and some clips while you grab some plastic explosives and a few grenades.

"Do you know how to use that stuff?" Asemu asks nervously.

"Yeah, it's kind of a like setting off cherry-bombs only...more potent"

"Alright. I'm ready to go. Do you need to grab anything else?" Asemu asks

Well Dirk? Ready to go or do you want something else?

Run a quick search for Zeheart, and try to dig something out for him.
And create some sort of alarm system for your phone - once you hit a button, all the nearby forces are going to come to your location because of a reported Vagan assault.
>>
>>25185225
Turn A, but a civilization-destroying nanomachine swarm is probably a bit outside the grounds of sensibility.

More plausibly, the Victory 2 could be a fun one to model it after. Especially since we're already doing beam shield research. So could the F91, with its shield-piercing weapons and afterimages. How about we combine the two? Something fast and maneuverable with an omnidirectional defense/offense system, so we can keep up with the AGE-FX and Legilis.

The Avalon Gundam combines beam shield and EM Armor technology into a system that keeps a low-power plasma field suspended around it at all time. Under normal operations the plasma field isn't energetic enough to have defensive or offensive abilities, though it does raise the Gundam's emissivity and aid cooling of the reactor at high output at the cost of reduced stealth. However, magnetic pinch fields can be used to excite the plasma to a number of useful purposes. Beam blades can be generated at any point around the Gundam's body. Beam shields for defensive purposes can be created by the same token. Optical warping and the generation of target lock-confusing afterimages can be produced when the Avalon is moving fast enough. Finally, the field helps direct thrust output, giving increased thrust vectoring and maneuverability. This also allows the thrusters to be run at much higher levels than normal, allowing for incredible straight-line acceleration.
>>
>>25185390
>I choose to justify this as the pistol being mechanically similar to a Mauser C96, feeding from an internal magazine loaded via stripper clips.
Makes sense, if you assume that it's a coilgun. Proper cartridges and magazines are less important if you don't need propellent.
>>

> we need to make a fool of ourself trying to impress her/get her attention

>>
>>25185523
>>25185390
It's a 10mm coilgun alright. After Dad popularized the EM Bullpump for mobile suits, handheld personal coil/rail weapons went into development due to the fear of Vagan's having an infantry armor as strong as their mobile suit armor.

>>25185407
"Hold on one sec..." You say, going up to your room and run a search on Zeheart however you don't find anything. He has the bare essentials, a rather vague family history and that's it. It's not on file he's an X-Rounder but you know he definitely is one....

You program a set up into your phone by linking it into the hacked security systems. With the press of a button the Colony Defense Forces will be alerted to your position.

You and Asemu creep through the woods, moving quite silently as you scope out the area. It takes a couple of hours and for a while it doesn't seem like your going find anyone, you hear voices from afar.

Creeping up to the edge of the bushes and see Akito holding a gun up to Zehearts head, Yurika laying on the ground with a bloody nose.

You can't hear what there talking about but Akito looks like he's about to shoot Zeheart!

What will you do Dirk?

Akito turns on you, pointing his pistol at you and Asemu, stopping him from helping Yurika, who appears to have been struck across the face by Akito.

"What are you doing here? Ugh, why are you two always getting in my way? Wait...you two must be working with him! The Vagan spy!" Akito draws a second, gun, aiming it at Zeheart to prevent him from making a move.

I've already alerted Colony Defense. They'll be here in a few minutes. Do you know if Zeheart has any backup in the area?"

Yo OP, I dunno if you said anything on the matter, but what's your opinion on the idea of Scarlet making Asemu a Gundam Delta Kai expy, complete with a not-NITRO System, only for Asemu to reject it, blow up on Scarlet, make her cry, only for them to make up by the next battle as he rides out IN said expy?

Second of all, if he is a Vagan spy, it's more sound to have the fucker arrested and interrogated instead of killed and third of all, if you hit Yurika, I'll personally blow a cap in your ass. "I found wire taps and bugs in my house. I traced back them all to you! And then I come here and find Yurika kissing this white haired bastard. All four of you are going to start answering some questions once my backup arrives..." Akito grins and you shake your head.

"Chill the fuck out. I've already called the Feds, they are on their way here. And he's not going anywhere."

"That's what you think..." Zeheart says, grabbing Akito's arm and in one swift motion, dislocating it.

Akito screams and swings his other arm around to shoot Zeheart, but he dodges and pulls out a knife, throwing it into Akitos palm, penetrating his hand and sending his last gun to the ground. In horrible pain and anguish from his injuries, Zeheart knocks him down with a punch to the gut and turns to you as you pull out a grenade.

"What the hell Zeheart! Don't do anything stupid..." You warn as Zeheart frowns, the air shimmering behind him as a red mobile suit appears behind him in the treeline and begins to approach you and him.

"Who's acting stupid Dirk?" He asks as Asemu keeps his gun raised, his hands shaking as he points his gun at his friend.

It's time for X-Rounder overdrive. Let's see the fucker act high and mighty once we start boiling his brains.
>>
>>25188206
Bad idea. Zeheart is just as powerful an X-Rounder as us. The difference is that he doesn't need a restraint device to keep it in check. Whatever treatments and training he received, they've probably inured him to the overload from X-Rounder resonance.

Do taunt him about Desil, though. He never knew Desil, but he probably has been told stories of his older brother who was kidnapped by the accursed Federation. It should be a sore point for him.
>>
>>25187993
"Look Zeheart, Akito's a dick, but since you apparently are a spy, I can't just let you slip away. I'm sure you're a decent guy, but the ones you work for, they're not men. They're monsters, who wear the skin of men that they might walk among them. They kidnapped a fifteen year old girl, and used her as a lab rat, to test implants meant to strengthen an X-Rounder's abilities. The implants drove her mad, for a time, causing her to nearly kill the man she loved, and then they damn near killed her. Oh but let me guess, you're just a soldier, 'just following orders' as the old defense goes. Can you live with yourself, taking orders from men who would do something like that? What if, the next time they need a young girl for their sick fucking perversions of science, they take Yurika?"

Grenade time. I'd have liked to take Zeheart in, but let's not endanger ourselves like that here. Frag 'em and evacuate Akito and Yurika. It's gonna be a warzone in a minute and we don't want to be in the line of fire. Kill Zeheart and run.
>>
>>25188098
Bad idea. Too risky. We'll all end up burned and hurt if we throw a grenade at him.
Better we either appeal to his human side and the fact that he likes it here.

>>25188312
I doubt he really cared about her, anyway.
>>
>>25188206
>It's time for X-Rounder overdrive. Let's see the fucker act high and mighty once we start boiling his brains.
The only person who's brain we'd boil is our own. Metaphorically speaking, we're the fatass neckbeard of the X-Rounder world. Can a fatass neckbeard take on Yuri Boyka in a fistfight?
>>
>>25188353
>I doubt he really cared about her, anyway.
Still worth a shot.
>>
>>25188369
Agreed. Let's try to talk this through. Appeal to his human side, how he likes it here and how he likes Yurika, how this is all stupid and only ends up hurting people.
Ask him if him being a soldier is what's worth fighting for - can he live with himself when he realizes that he could've been happy, instead of a tool?
>>
>>25188455
I respectfully disagree, I say throw those bombs we have earlier at both zehart and Akito.
>>
>>25188475
At this range, we're going to all die. Unless they're flash bombs. Or goo grenades.
If it's a goo grenade, do it. If it's lethal, avoid it like the plague.
>>
>>25188513
That should be a acceptable risk. Sides, if we die then Scarlet can have all the spot light.
>>
>>25188572
Screw that noise. Peaceful solution all the way.
>>
>>25188594
Hey, I think peaceful is out the window, Violence with greater violence now.
>>
>>25188572
Too bad Scarlet ain't here. She could fastball a stun grenade right into Zeheart's nuts. That would stop anyone cold. Could Dirk pull it off?
>>
>>25188475
If we do this then 3 outcomes will more than likely happen

A: Female gundam protagonist's become the main stay,

B: The prospect of the Asemu and Crocker family's being united is OUT the fucking window and I think we may go into full blown Double Zeta

C: The timeline is further altered towards a very very bad end scene
>>
>>25188621
How's this - we talk to him, and Asemu shoots him in the knee. Probably not going to happen, but it'd satisfy us both.
>>
>>25188734
I don't know but hell throw ALL the grenades
>>
>>25188767
That's what I'm saying. If we throw grenades, we screw everything over. Peaceful solution is in our best interest.
And besides, if we get Zeheart as an ally, we can convince the Vagan to join us in the revolution against Leviathan.
>>
>>25188801
You must want us to go darker don't you
>>
>>25186941
>>25187993
Crosswire, can you explain why we didn't tell Akito to bust the Heart's kneecaps?
>>
>>25188801
Let's not. At all. Try for the peaceful, flash bang if need be and in that case, we get EVERYONE to safety. Akito included.
>>
>>25188877
I want a stun grenade fastball to Zeheart's nads, myself. Awesome and effective.
>>
>>25188851
We don't even know if Leviathan is even the true enemy here. For all we know they could be gundam verse batman. Save the fact that they kill. Anon

Hey guys, I was scavenging in the graveyard near where Hogan and his boys live, and I found these three red trucks. I think they combine into a robot! Scarlet, Asemu, you two can pilot it with me.
>>
>>25188455
What if, the next time they need a young girl for their sick fucking perversions of science, they take Yurika?" You plead with him as the red suit walks over and stops, looming over the two of you.

"Yes Dirk, I can live with myself. Because in the end our goal is a noble one and one I will not stop persueing until it's achieved, even if it costs me my life" Zeheart says, backing up.

"What goal is worth selling your god damn soul!?" Asemu shouts.

"The future!" Zeheart yells back, making you literally groan.

"OK your totally getting a grenade throw at you"

"You don't have what it takes to kill me" Zeheart mocks his eyes widening as you toss the grenade at his feet and cover your ears.

"It's not explosive asshole" Closing your eyes the flashbang goes off, blinding Zeheart long enough for Asemu to blast out his knee caps with his pistol.

Zeheart falls to the ground, holding his bleeding knees and cursing at you. He draws a pistol but you kick it out of his hand and deck him across the face.

"You'll regret this..." Zeheart mutters as he blacks out.

"I won't, you probably will when you wake up." You say, rubbing your knuckles before checking on Akito and Yurika.

"Wouldn't you want to hear from your own brother about exactly happened almost 30 years ago?"

As for the Akito convince, something along the lines of "I wouldn't bug you if you weren't being more of a prick than you were normally, and are you sure you're not being played by someone using Grodek's name?"

>>25189120
Akito is fucked up and in a lot of pain, but he'll live. He's too busy gasping and swearing to talk to you, Zeheart really fucked him him.

Yurika, outside of a broken nose from Akito hitting her and the temporary deafness from being so close to the flashbang, she's fine but she's obviously worried and very obviously dazed.

"Akito? Zeheart? What happened? Why are you here Dirk..."

Well Dirk? How do you comfort the girl?

To Yurika:
"It's okay Yurika. I'm here. You're safe now. I'm sorry for not getting here sooner, and for that flashbang, but I had to do something."

"Yurika, what happened here? Who hit you?" You ask in a loud voice so the half-deaf Yurika can hear you.

"Akito...he saw me talking too Zeheart. I was trying to convince him to turn himself in. I've suspected he was the spy for months but....I didn't want him to get hurt. When I tried protecting Zeheart Akito hit me..."

You make a mental note to have a long, painful discussion with Akito then next chance you get about not hitting girls, especially his own fucking sister.

>>25189369
The red suit isn't moving. It's dead still, Zeheart must have been controlling it somehow. You mentally kill dibs on the salvage as Yurika begins to look around.

"What happened to everyone Dirk?"

"Don't worry they're alive, just injured. Help's on the way, stay calm, everythings going to be OK."

"Is Zeheart alive?"

"Yes, Asemu shot him in the knee cap and I threw a flashbang in his face, but he should be fine. Don't worry, he'll get rehabilitated"

Suddenly the sound of falling trees fills your ears as Heavily Customized Genoaces and Shaldolls arive and surround the area. These guys are the veterans this time. Leading them however is a super customized white suit. It walks over to you and the cockpit opens, a familiar white haired man sticking his head out.

“Jeez, I miss your birthday and you pull something like THIS?” Woolf asks with a grin on his face.

“Dad!” Asemu shouts, his face lighting up with happiness.

“The medics will be here any second. In the mean time I’d really like to know what the fuck happened here” Woolf lowers himself down and you begin to explain everything…

>Why would you think that the Vagans are the ones controlling the laser?
Because they have on in canon. It's called La Gramis, and towards the end of the series the Vagans make the ridiculous choice of moving their capital colony all the way from the Mars Sphere to the Earth Sphere to dock with it. Because there's no way tying your capital's power systems to a highly unstable death ray can end in disaster.

Then again, the end of AGE is total bullshit no matter what aspect you look at. That's why we're doing this.

You know that saying about how you can't be a good writer without first being an avid reader, so you can build up a repertoire of interesting ideas and concepts and what-ifs, so you know sort of what a finished story ought to look like by the time you actually get around to writing your own stories?

It's sort of like that, but with mechas. I routinely trawl the boorus and pixiv for awesome mecha drawings and analyze them for what particular design morif or silhouette or anatomical proportions make the mecha eye-catching and uniquely interesting. That's the base from which I started to learn to design mechas- a folder of images about 600 or so images large now.

Not all of my designs were exactly, ah, top of the line when I first started.

Attached is an example of one of my earliest attempts (a backview thingy). You get better over time and practice, like with anything else!

*design motif

Anyways, if you actually want me to explain, basically what I do is scribble a skeletal-looking roughdoodle thing and/or lay down blobs of color. The preliminary phase is where you get the proportions and anatomy right- a good mecha needs to consider how the anatomy plays into the design. For example, the lankiness of the Evas illustrates their running speed as well as making the viewer slightly uncomfortable, and gives them a silhouette that looks like a hunchbacked beast with horns sprouting out of the shoulders- intimidating, bestial, deliberately avoiding tropes of the 'noble' giant machine knight or the man-made culmination of industry and sweat.

After that, it's mostly greebling and details- deciding where armor plates should go and how they should be shaped. There's an art form to that as well- you don't want to put too many motifs on a single mecha. You've seen those horrid gundam clusterfucks with all sorts of thing sticking out everywhere- sharp bits, blocky armor, tubes, circle vents, square vents, grated vents, glowing crystals in all shapes, curvy organic armor, geometric mechanical forms, pistons, wires... It overwhelms the eye and makes for a loss of cohesion.

Generally, what I do is pick out a particular part of the body- usually the head or the chest, though I've started with forearms before for weapon-centric mechas- and pick two or three different design motifs. For example, I started with the head and went with hexagon-shaped plates as well as spike-shaped protrusions (later used on the shoulder and leg boosters as well as the alignment spikes for the shoulder cannons). By repeating similar forms over the entire body of the mecha, the entire thing ends up feeling like a single design instead of just a bunch of random pieces put together.

(Incidentally, a lot of 'old' gundams feel indistinguishable from each other because there was little attention paid to distinguishing 'motifs'. Later series tried to distinguish themselves; 00 had the whole GN Reactor cone thing going, and AGE used the glowing letter A hexagon thingy. You can only get so far with basic geometric shapes before you have to introduce gimmicks like this to differentiate franchises.)

Anyways, design also has to consider how the mecha 'feels' to a viewer. Long, elegantly curved forms and slender limbs imply speed; large blocky chunks of armor imply strong defense; segmented chunks of armor imply flexibility. For the Gawain, I chose to mostly use slender shapes for the armor, as well as segmenting it up a LOT around the waist to show flexibility. You can tell I didn't particularly try to do that for the Merlin Gundam- I just went for heavy armor, heavy weapons, and maximum 'aspirin-lozenges' all over. As a result, it feels palpably 'heavier' than the Gawain.

After that, it's coloring and color theory is a whole new bag of cats. Coloring and detailing is really the boring part where technical finesse is more useful than imagination and theoretical designing. It's also the part that takes me several hours to finish. Polishing is a bitch and a technique chore but the final results are worth it.

Have a random one of my old mechas because I can't figure out what image to upload here.
