LAST TIME ON AGE QUEST!: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/25199763/
Check my Twitter for Updates: https://twitter.com/Crosswire

Your name is Dirk Crocker and you’re in a pretty fucking dangerous situation. You, your sister Scarlet, your Uncle Woolf Enneacle, and Colony Defense Commander Aldrick Abis are the only ones available to stop the Magicians 8 from destroying the HQ.

Zeheart, whom you had stripped naked and handcuffed up in the bathroom, is safe as the tracker in his clothes is still in his cell, where they’ll be looking for him. Asemu is guarding him and is armed so if anyone tries to get in on foot he’ll be able to handle them.

You are currently piloting the AGE-X3 Merlin Gundam and your Sister is piloting the AGE-X2 Gawain Gundam. None of the fixed weapons are installed and only the basic systems of your Gundam’s are function. Thankfully you grabbed some weapons before the Magicians 8 showed up. You and your sister each have:
1x EM Bullpump Rifle, 90 shots a magazine with 4 reloads
2x Beam Sabers, the Genoace II model
X6 MS High Explosive Grenades
X1 Anti-Beam Coated Shield

Woolf is in his G-Exes and Commander Aldrick is piloting the Proto-Clanche they had in the hanger.

What appears to be a mass produced X-Rounder mobile suit like Zehearts red one probably piloted by one of the Magicians 8, has busted through the hanger and is ready to attack.
What will you do Dirk?
>>
>>25222831
Raise the shield in defensive position and unload the bullpup into it.
>>
>>25222831
So the changes we've made to the timeline mean they've already ditched the Zedas M for the Jilsbain? Great. Well, I guess if we're making faster tech advancement they'd have to keep up.

We've got a bit of a bottleneck. Might as well take advantage. Five rounds rapid, gentlemen.
>>
>>25222831
What's the layout of the hangar?
If it's a narrow corridor, everybody opens fire while we toss a timed grenade a bit behind him. That way, he must evade the attack by launching backwards, directly into the grenade. If the hangar is wide and open, better to box him in a corner somewhere and take care of him quickly. But we must be careful of the friendlies in the building - we don't want the patients or our friends hurt.
We need to take care of this sucker, and fast. We must get the battle outside.
>>

Is Aldrick, Seric's Father?

>So the changes we've made to the timeline mean they've already ditched the Zedas M for the Jilsbain? Great. Well, I guess if we're making faster tech advancement they'd have to keep up.
I'm just waiting for the thread where Crosswire reveals that due to our pushing, they've increased their X-Rounder MS manufacturing so far they all move like the Blue Destiny now.
>>
>>25223143
Rather than the Psychomet Mu-zcel, the new X-Rounder-use suits employ the Enhanced X-wave Amplification Matrix. Rumors about the experiments that went into its construction have yet to be verified, in large part because everyone's too afraid to ask questions about it.
>>
>>25223143
I'm just waiting for the Vagan to capture an AGE Builder. Or Fram joining our side. Or the appearance of Asemu's sister.
>>
>>25223331
>Or the appearance of Asemu's sister.
What do you mean? Yunoa shouldn't exist in this universe. Or are you assuming that Emily is still alive and has had a second child?
>>
>>25223399
Emily isn't dead, she and her X-Rounder kid Yunoa were taken by Leviathan, who faked her death and deleted all records of it.
>>
>>25223428
...lot of conspiracy theories going around.

>>25222831
Combine fire. X-Rounder powers aren't much use at close quarters against weapons moving faster than a human can react. 4-on-1 equals shredded Vagan. Just be ready in case another Vagan MS uses the flash from the first one's destruction to launch a surprise attack.

We need to get out of the hangar once the first MS is dead. Vagan sensors are probably good enough to track and target us through the hangar walls.
>>
>>25223668
>human
But he's not a Human, he's an X-Rounder.
>>
>>25223906
He's still got to deal with the inefficiencies of a biological brain. There's only so fast he can process information, even if he gets it early. At close range, bullet dodging should be impossible.
>>
>>25223978
I don't know dude, X-Rounders can dodge beam rifle shots from pretty damn close range. I mean, in canon Desil was fighting Wolf and Asemu and taking them both on until Wolf dies and Asemu gets his plot upgrade to SUPAA PIRATO!
>>
>>25224044
True. But even then he took some hits. He was just able to make them glancing instead of direct. Enough amassed fire and we can take this Magician out. At the least, we should do enough damage that he has to retreat only to swear vengeance on us cursed Earthers for this humiliation.
>>
>>25224044
Yeah, but they still can be beat by clever tactics. And even when they do avoid incoming fire, it still scratched them. Flit managed to neutralize them by boxing them in and not allowing them to do anything but dodge incoming fire. And most of them were taken out by normal humans, not X-Rounders, mostly because they are prideful and vengeful assholes.

And besides, who knows, maybe Dirk functions as some sort of damper for their abilities.

The hanger is pretty enclosed. There is some leg room, but not enough for any proper mobility. You raise your shield and rifle.

"F-fire!" You shout, blazing away with your EM Bullpump, your sister following suit, Woolf and Aldrick firing their DODS Rifles.

The X-Rounder suit is battered by the shots, the DODS Rifle shots don't do a thing, but the Bullpumps leave welts in the powerful armor and penetrate the shoulder with ease.

The suit immediately retreats, dodging the rest of your attacks as it fires it's thrusters and flies outside.

>>25223668
"Let's get out here! I'd rather not get shot through the walls!" You say, charging out of the hanger with everyone else.

You see the damaged suit retreating and 7 more mobile suits of the same type waiting for you. They open fire on you. Scarlet and Woolf take evasive maneuvers while commander Aldrick transforms his Proto-Clanche and takes to the air.

You attempt to take evasive maneuvers and...

Yeah, he took one to his beam rifle and one to his shoulder cannon. I think both of them were when he was focused on one thing though, and Wolf/The Adeles came out of nowhere and started shooting.

But anyways, I'm just saying never bet on the impossible with X-Rounders or Newtypes. Even if it should be completely unavoidable for a human, an X-Rounder might be able to do it.

That could be a neat mid-season upgrade or standard feature for next gen. The Gawain's X-Jammer combined with Dirk's abilities to put out psychic static over the battlefield. Remote weapons stop working, X-Rounders lose their powers of prediction, and everyone, even ordinary humans, gets an incredibly distracting headache. Maybe the final upgrade for Dirk and Scarlet this arc will see them piloting a twin-seater Gundam. Scarlet flies and fights, Dirk does jamming and support gadgetry.

It's currently AG 140. So Serric would be pretty young, still. He looks to be at most mid-thirties by Kio's arc(it's hard to tell with AGE's art style), so he can't be older than 11 or so right now

You manage to dodge their hail of fire and return fire, causing the group to scatter as they evade. The suits split up. Two go for Scarlet, two go for Woolf, one goes for you and two go for Aldrick, who's suit appears to have some stability issues.

What's the plan Dirk? These guys are pretty damn tough and you can't dodge forever. Woolf's DODS Rifle does Jack and shit to this armor, maybe Aldrick's DODS Beam Cannons might be able to do the trick but his Proto-Clanche is giving him some issues, it's still experimental after all.
>>
>>25224233
I'm still in favor of setting it up so Asemu's custom MS can turn into a fucking dragon that Scarlet's MS can ride on.

That's 7. Where's the 8th one?

Pull off Jake's move from Ambat. Occupy the Vagan's attention so that he can't notice Aldrick's beam cannon fire we'll draw him in.

"Hey Aldrick! Why not give those DODS Cannons a try out over here?" You ask as you fire the lone X-Rounder assaulting you. He dodges your shots with ease and fires back with his vulcans which you block with your shield.

The Proto-Clanche gains altitude, makes a turn and fires it's DODS Beam cannons at the X-Rounder as it's back is turned towards him. The shots connect, blowing off both of the suit's arms at the shoulders, throwing it to the ground.

You raise your rifle to gun down the fallen X-Rounder when suddenly the two suits attacking Woolf head towards you! Their suits accelerate faster then you've seen any other mobile suit move and they cross the distance to you in a second. Two of the suits slam into you and pin you against the wall, the damaged suit charging it's chest beam cannon to blast you...

Not too sure a beam shotgun would work right now. The new Vagan MS can ignore regular DODS weapons. Need bigger, more powerful beam weapons. Only things that work at the moment are railguns, grenades, missiles, beam sabers, and heavy beam weapons.
>>
>>25225597
Yeah, but it's charging to fire a chest beam, too. The standard in Gundam is that when beam meets beam, you get a big explosion. So neither of us would come out ahead, really.

You manage to pull the Merlin's shield arm free to block the shot. The X-Rounder's torso beam cannon annihilate the shield and hits the merely's shoulder, severing the left arm at the shoulder.

Firing your thrusters you fly upwards as the Damage Vagan suit flies at you in a ramming maneuver and instead, smashes head first into the HQ, allowing you to fire down on it with your EM bullpump.

One of the other X-Rounder suits jumps throws itself in your line of fire, taking about thirty shots before you run out of ammo. The X-Rounder suit lost it's left arm and appears to have some torso damage.

You land on top of the HQ, thankful for it's fortress like construction. Everyone seems to be fairly pretty well, the armless suit is retreating into the forest. You EM Bullpump is out of ammo, but your missing an arm. You could try to reload but with only one arm it'll be tricky and take a while, and those two X-Rounder suits below you look ready to pounce...

What will you do dirk?

Use the blast to get away and reload the bullpump.

>>25225655
True, I suppose. Still, I'd be nice to have at least something to use in a situation like this.
And I doubt that getting shot at point blank with a shotgun wouldn't at least stun the pilot for a sec.
But, if it's ineffective, it's ineffective.

You chuck your rifle at one of the suits before throwing a pair of grenades down on them. The explosion doesn't damage them, but it divides them enough that you can leap down on the damaged one and thrash it with your beam saber.

You only have one arm, but so does the damaged X-rounder suit. It parries a couple of your attacks as you shout to Aldrick for back up.

"A little fire support here!"

"This suit isn't responding to me very well I can barely...Woolf, handle this guy on me, I'm going to help the kid!' Aldrick's Proto-Clanche breaks off from engaging his enemy and heads towards you, firing a few beam cannon blasts that keeps the X-Rounder suit behind you from stabbing you in the back as you continue your duel with the X-Rounder. With a shift kick you knock stumble the suit long enough for you to slice off it's head. Causing the whole suit to explode as it fell on it's back.

"You have a soft spot for kids don't you?" Woolf asks as he antagonizes two X-rounder suits, jumping around and holding them off.

"Hey, I have a kid of my own to take care of. If I can't take care of someone elses kid how can I take care of my own ki-" A sudden shot from one of the X-Rounder suits Woolf was fighting strikes the rear of the Clanche, completely destroying it's thrusters and sending it crashing towards you.

The X-Rounder suit behind you deploys it's tail sword and prepares to launch it like a javeline at Aldrick! As if trying to strike revenge for it's fallen comrade. You run towards the X-rounder and...

"Well you guys are defiantly Jake and Mellisa's kids..." Carlos says rather fondly.

"Well I'd love to get all sappy but isn't the colony being attacked?" You ask.

"Not anymore. We took care of them while your father handled Minsry. The Zalam/Euba guys handled the Vagan pretty damn well so they didn't need help. The Vagan's are in retreat with 90% losses on their part. We managed to stop them before they did too much damage." Desil explains.

But first, let's get the status on the others - are Jake and Mellis okay, talk to Desil about his brother, and go tell Akito that he was helpful after all.

Aldrick is rescued from the forest and the Magnificent 7 dock in the hangers along with you, Scarlet and Woolf. Scarlet leaves to pick up the AGE Builder from your house and to bring Grandpa and Grandma somewhere safe, Carlos warns that the Vagan might launch a counter attack.

Meanwhile you inform Desil about his brother. "Another brother? I don't recall the name Zeheart. He must have been born after I got caught by Jake...I'm going to talk with him alone."

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" You ask.

"He has two blown out kneecaps and was recently mind raped by you, I think I'm safe. Besides I want to figure out what his problem is..."

You nod, respecting Desil's wish to handle his family matters himself. Meanwhile you check up on Akito who is in the HQ's infirmary with Asemu, who is changing his bandages.

"Hey Akito, you gave us the information just in time. No one was hurt, well no one in the colonies anyway. We shot down two of the Magician 8s and they Vagans lost 90% of their attack force with only minimal casualties on our part" You say and pat him on the shoulder, forgetting it was recently dislocated and getting a shout and a glare because of it.

Despite re-dislocating Akito's arm, he's thrilled. "Thank god...thank you Dirk for listening to me. I apologize about being such an asshat lately. Your my friends and I should have to fight you guys. If I hear anything important, I'll let you know. In the mean time...I think I'm going to get some rest."

Asemu seems to be looking for something to do. He's pretty damn bored. Dad and Mom are on their way, but they have to check with the other colonies and set up some defenses. It'll take 8 hours to do that.

Scarlet however is back with the AGE Builder and there is a LOT of material here on base, however there are some repairs to do first.

AGE-X3 Merlin Gundam- Missing left arm/Shoulder, full system activation needed, fixed weapon hardpoints need drivers and weapons to go with them

AGE-X2 Gawain Gundam: Fixed Weapons need to be installed and full system activation is required.

RGE-X1100 Proto Adele- Perfectly fine, lacking any weapons or equipment however.

RGE-1300XR Pioneer α; - All seven units are fine, you notice one of the pilots is around your age and appears to be a girl who knows her way around a mobile suit...

WMS-GB5 G-Bouncer- Minor scratches and some joint strain, minor repairs.

So, what would you like to do Dirk? It's 11:00 AM and you have 8 hours till your parents arrive.
>>
>>25227185
Plug in that drive we got on the two transformable high-speed MS and see what it adds.
>>
>>25227185
Better get cracking on the more damaged suits. Call Asemu and Scarlet over to help you with repairs, they must be bored.
See if Yurika would like to come over, she could probably use some company and cheering up.
>>
>>25227185
Work on fixing the Merlin and Gawain, and see if that girl can't be coerced into helping.
>>
>>25227185
We've got a lot of repairs to do, but that can wait for a tiny bit.

Talk to the girl around our age, ask her about the Pioneer Alpha, ask how she likes it, any flaws or interesting features it has, while doing this multitask a bit and enter all the data from this battle into the AGE Builder.
>>
>>25227185
Get the Merlin and Gawain up and running. Get Asemu and Scarlet to help. See if that girl is good with MS repair.
>>
>>25227185
Replacing the Merlin's arm should be first priority for the AGE Builder. Regular engineering equipment can deal with the G-Bouncer's joint strain, I figure that falls under regular maintenance. After the Merlin is back to fully structurally intact have the AGE Builder start on the Gawain's fixed weapons. Work on the device drivers and system activation issues for the Merlin and Gawain while the fabrication is going on. For the Proto-Adele, given its compatibility with the AGE-1's wears, let's fab a Brocka pack, suiting Asemu's like of high speed combat and close-in brawling. For ranged it can just use a stock EM Bullpup. And while we're at it, if we have any available time, get to know the Magnificent 7. Clearly the roster has changed a bit if there's a member we don't know despite associating with Desil and Carlos all these years.

Why don't we feed the AGE builder later on with the data from the Clanche, the Prototype Adele and Woolf's Bouncer and make something like the Xiphos a little bit sooner?
>>
>>25227634
Sounds good. A G-Xiphos based design would be a good alternative to the Dark Hound for Captain Ash to have if Asemu never gets the AGE-2 in this timeline. Especially if we can get it the Snake Sword.

Well, once Jake gets over, we can combine the segmented tail the new Vagan suits have with the Excalibuster, and make something even better.
>>
>>25227715
Pfft. Why settle for a Mass Produced model? We could MAKE him a gundam. Call it the Lancelot or something to go with the Knights of the round tabletheme.
>>
>>25227753
Segmented tails aren't going to come until the end of the arc, I believe. Pretty sure the first one to equip a striking tail rather than a gun tail is the Zeydalus. Then again, they already have the Jilsbain. So it's plausible that it might get produced early.
>>
>>25227185
See if we can recover the Proto-Clanche's flight recorder. It could give us useful data on its control problems.

You decide to work on the Merlin and Gawain, having Asemu cook up their fixed weapons and some spare parts with the AGE Builder while you and Scarlet work on basic repairs. You call over that girl you saw working on the Pioneer Alphas and chat with her as you work on the machines. With Scarlet and the girl's help the repairs go by quickly and you install the fixed weapons on the Gawain and some weapon modules for the Merlin

Gawain:
-Prototype Anti-Funnel System
-Railgun mounted in head
- Diffuse 'sand barrel' beam cannons mounted on the shoulders.
-Multi-function shields mounted on the forearms. They can function as beam sabers or heavy DODS Rifles. An experimental beam shield is also mounted within the shields.

Merlin:
Beam Vulcans in the head.
-Vagan beam vulcan/saber
-90mm tribarrel cannon with 2--tube missile launcher.
-heavy beam emitters mounted in knees

You chat with the girl finding out her name is Rena. She is 18 years old and currently loves mobile suits, anime and anything deep-fried which is surprising considering her excellent figure.

"So what do you know about the Pioneer Alpha? Do you like it? Any interesting features to it?" You ask while you work.

"I love it. The Pioneer Alpha uses the G-Bouncer as a base, however it retains it's original performance capabilities while being able to handle the stress and reaction times of an X-Rounder, all while utilizing a long range/short range funnel system. These things have drills!" She says with a grin. It's an excellent suit. A lot of people dump on the G-Bouncer and G-Exes series because they aren't directly made from the Gundams, however I find both are incredible suits that have performance capabilities that even the Adele can't beat. That's probably why the G-Bouncer was chosen as the base for the Pioneer Alpha."

Umm, shouldn't these be two separate systems? You can mount either the 90mm or the grenade launcher, not both I think. Hmm, maybe it can work. Mount the grenade launchers over the backs of the Merlin's hands and the 90mm in the forearms. Is that what your going for here?

You nod your head, liking what you hear. This girl knows what she's talking about! It's so refreshing to have someone besides Dad with such excellent technical knowledge.

"So Reina..."

"It's Rena, not Reina." She says, correcting you. "Rena Zakat."

"Well I'm Dirk Crocker. Nice to meet you"

"Thanks! I really enjoyed our conversation and you seem pretty nice but I have boring ass reports to fill out. Let's have some dinner later and discuss some more technical stuff, like that AGE Builder of yours" She grins looking rather excited as she walks away.

You collect the Black box from the trashed Proto-Clanche and manage to pull most of the data off it. You feed it into the AGE Builder along with the Performance Data for the Proto-Clanche and the AGE-2 Gundam Data. The AGE Builder Immediately starts to make something, but it's a pain in the ass to tell what. It's a mobile suit but you have no idea what kind....

It should be done in an hour. The repairs are finished and you can't really make anything till the AGE Builder is finished. Dad and Mom will arrive in 7 hours. Maybe you should talk with Desil, or Yurika, or Akito. Maybe talk technical stuff with Rena.

Then go see Uncle Desil.

"How are you guys holding up?" You ask walking in.

"Fine. I should be able to help you guys out soon, as long as my nose doesn't fall off" Yurika says, helping her brother get up.

"My arm and hand are still pretty fucked up. It'll be at least 8 weeks before I can pilot anything and that's with heavy meds. However that doesn't mean I'm completely useless. I'm getting in contact with Leviathan to see if I can get some support for us here, or at least some info. You go over and sit beside your uncle. Normally you aren't very 'huggy' like Dad is but it gets across love and support pretty well.

"How was were things? What did he say? Was it bad" You ask.

"Dirk...his parents...MY Parents were imprisoned after I they found out I defected and are to be killed if Zeheart is killed or if the Vagans begin to lose. He hates what he’s doing Dirk, but he can’t defect or feel any ounce of sympathy for the people of the Federation or else Ezelcant will sense it and have our parents killed." Desil explains, just spilling everything he learned.

"Wait, Ezelcant can do that? X-Rounders can do that?" You ask.

“Ezelcant has X-Rounder powers that make him essentially a god Dirk. He has full control over them and they make yours and mine look like nothing by comparison” Desil says bluntly "He's charismatic, ancient and immensely powerful. Some people even think he's immortal but I don't think he's that strong...however he probably has some kind of special grip over Zeheart and the rest of the powerful X-Rounders maybe all of them. Maybe as insurance after I left..." Desil clenches his fist. "My brothers and sisters...they are the members of the Magicians 8 Dirk."

Just a quick meta cut-in in regards to MS.

You guys go for modularity for the Merlin Gundam...and then pick something that is NOT the F90(The UC king of expansion packs, Astray Outframe rules the AUs thanks to that omni-adapter Lowe Gear whipped up for Jess Rabble) as the base unit for inspiration?
>>
>>25229035
"I'm sorry Uncle, that just isn't right. Holding people's family hostage like that, it's despicable.

That motherfucker, that miserable, evil, motherfucker.

Though more powerful than me? That's insane, and scary, I know I've got raw power, I can't control it worth a damn, but I have raw power in spades."
>>
>>25229035
Well, that's rather different from canon. At least I hope it is, or Fram and Zeheart make for a MUCH weirder pairing.

"Well, shit. That explains why Zeheart was so fanatic, if Ezelcant can seize minds like that. Something doesn't seem right, though. Zeheart's plan was to do a colony drop. He admitted that it would be counter to the Eden plan. So if Ezelcant can sense Zeheart's intentions over such a long distance...why would he allow him to go through with that? What does that mean about Ezelcant's actual plans, if that much devastation isn't an issue?"
>>
>>25229035
"The more I hear, the more I want to kill this bastard. You're saying Ezelcant can sense what's happening here on such a small scale from Mars? No way. No matter how 'powerful' he is, there's no way his mind could take the strain of sifting through that much psychic data. And once I refine the X-Jammer, he won't be sensing shit from Earth. As for 'ancient', maybe he jumps in and out of cryosleep every few years? The tech to make cyborgs vanished during the war and I doubt Rysis would let anyone take a close look at her hardware.

I don't know what to say about the Magicians 8. I'd like to take them alive if possible. I just don't know how. Have you seen the Vagan's new self-destruct system? "Does he know where they are held? Can we break them out of there somehow?" You ask.

"No he doesn't. He can't even think about saving them. He's dedicated himself to winning the war and destroying the Earth Federation because it's all he can do. If he resists Mom and Dad die. Ether that or he's received brainwashing on a level I can't even begin to imagine. It's likely they are being kept in Cryofreeze so they don't die of old age or illness. It's likely he has some kind of data on Cyborgs or worked it out over the past 150 years or so. I bet he's a cyborg. Maybe hunting down Rysis and Travis and talking with them would give you a better idea how to develop the X-Jammer." Destil suggests, calming down after hearing your words

"Right, I'll try to find them when I can. In the mean time...just keep your chin up. Me and Dad can save the day. We saved you, so we can save your parents and we can save Zeheart." You give a thumbs up. "Just who the hell do you think we are?" you say before snickering a little.

Desil laughs and shakes his head. "Your Dad is still the only one who can say that with a straight face"

You shrug. "Maybe it skips a generation? I don't know. Why don't you talk with Akito and Yurika? You need some cheering up. I'm going to check the 'oven' in the hanger"

Desil waves you goodbye and you arrive at the hanger, seeing the product of the AGE Builder being assembled. It looks like a combination of the Proto-Clanche and probably whatever the AGE-2 was supposed to look like. The AGE Builder calls it "VANT"

>Hyper DODS Rifle yet? If so, produce a few for the troops on base while Dirk tests out the Vant.
Let's not produce them just yet. We should feed data into the age builder for an effective colony use weapon. Something like the Shot Lancer that the Crossbone Vanguard uses.

We can call it the DODS Lancer.
>>
>>25229786
Why not both? Rifles for space combat and Lancers for in-colony combat. How many things can the AGE Builder design in parallel?
>>
>>25229642
Yeah, let's check this baby out.
Also, get Asemu and Scarlet and fill them in on the news about Desil and Zeheart. And introduce Asemu to his new suit.

And give the AGE builder a new task: Creating advanced weaponry. Preferably Hyper DODS rifles and improved EM weapons. Or a Beam Lance.
Anyway, idea for a weapon - shield rifles. Basically, take the standard shield, throw in a miniature reactor (we can make those, right?) that fuels both the rifle and the EM shielding.
Maybe a grenade launcher could fit as well. And the gun pulls double duty as a HDODS Beam Vulcan / Beam Saber.
>>
>>25229809
I figured both, I just want to try and avoid having a bunch of Hyper DODS Rifles sitting around just incase we're attacked while we're testing.
Then someone blows a hole in the colony and we're all fucked.
>>
>>25229810
Current Federation shields don't have EM fields. Shield-mounted grenade launchers or beam weapons should be well within our current tech levels, though. Hell, we've got functional beam shield prototypes!

>>25229823
You've got a point there. I just figured to have the AGE Builder design both weapons at the same time if it can. Heavens, we need to upgrade most of the Federation's arsenal! EM Rifles still work, but almost all of our current beam weapons need serious upgrades.

You look over the data and realize you probably could produce the AGE-2 using the AGE builder, but you'd have to modify it so it didn't need the AGE System. Haro and MID are scurrying at your feet as you look over the Vant. It appears to be able to use the same wears as the AGE-2 would, so anything you make for the Vant, can be used on the AGE-2 and anything made on the AGE-2 can be used on the Vant.

The Vant doesn't have a weapon yet, but there is plenty of DODS Data lying around, however the AGE Builder confirms you still don't have enough data for a new DODS Rifle. You check to see if there's enough data for a new EM Weapon and are disappointed to see there's not. Oh well, the EM bullpump is still pretty damn effective.

Suddenly you get a call on your phone

"Hello?"

"Hey Dirk! It's me Rena. Wanna have that dinner Early? I got through that stupid paperwork faster then I thought"

"Hmmmm" You see Asemu walk over, eyeing the Vant with excitement in his eyes.

"Sure, I'll be down in ten minutes"

"Excellent! See you then!"

You quickly fill Asemu in on the details with Zeheart and offer him a chance to test pilot the Vant.

"Really?" He asks excitedly.

"Totally." You watch him climb into the Vant and take off.

Scarlet is nowhere to be seen, probably helping Grandpa and Grandma get their stuff and come over here. The rest of the colony is on high alert for good reason.

You try not to think about that however and instead try to have some fun. Entering the mess hall you find that Rena is sitting for you, waiting for you to arrive.

How do you want to approach this Dirk?

The we better be careful fighting the Magicians 8 (Magicians 6, now. Unless they keep spares. How many siblings does Desil have?). The Beam Buster on the Zeydra is about as powerful as the Hyper DODS, if we're going by the whole "beam clash" thing when they collide. We're lucky that outright destruction wasn't their goal, this time.
>>
>>25229928
>but you'd have to modify it so it didn't need the AGE System.
Can we make one of those modified Age Systems like the one in the AGE-1 Treasure Star Type? Though AGE-2 Flat works well enough, and I'm pretty sure that Aldrick is gonna be thrilled about the Vant.

Put on a smile, go and sit down by her, unless she already has food then wave at her and get food first.

Try to be casual and not have our brain shut down because there's a pretty girl who likes Mobile Suits, nerdy hobbies, is willing to talk to us, and isn't our Sister. Don't focus entirely on engineering, start by asking more about her and her job, her hobbies, and sharing stuff about ourself if she asks.
>>
>>25229928
Not enough data? Pity. I thought after the recent battles and the stripping of Zeheart's MS we'd have enough info to upgrade the beam rifles. Gonna have to rely on EM Rifles and our frame-mounted weapons for now. Oh well.

About the dinner? Try to act casual. Rena's a tech head like Dirk so they have that to talk about. He can deal with his hormones after getting to know her better.
>>
>>25230017
I don't think Dirk thinks about romance and dating. For now, she's just a cool girl who happens to like what he likes.
I doubt that he even considers this a date, more like grabbing some chow with a colleague he's friendly with.
>>
>>25230018
I kind of like that we're going to be stuck with solid weaponry for now. Beam weapons are cool, but there's just something almost primal about a bullet. Kinetic impacts are fun in a way that energy blasts just don't have.

I'd like to ask about how she joined the Magnificent 7. Was she hand-picked in the academy because of her abilities? Or is she the whole "kid falls into the cockpit" thing that psychic teenagers are so apt to do in the Gundam franchise, and she's basically a brevet?

>>25230018
The data is very high though, around the 90% range for the beam rifles, but the EM weapons is still around 45%. With a little more collection you should be able to make something to counter the Vagan's armor in terms of Beam Weaponry.

>>25229994
"Your never going to believe what I built in the AGE builder!" You say, sitting down.

"What did you build?"

"A Mass Production Model of a suit that I haven't even built yet. I just fed it the data from the Proto-Clanche and the AGE-2 Gundam and it popped it out!" You smile and rub your hands together, sounding like a kid on his birthday.

"That's awesome! Probably buggy to high hell, but the fact the AGE Builder could do something like that...You think we could upgrade it?" She asks suddenly.

"Huh?"

"Yeah, you and me. From what I've read the AGE Builder can only produce one thing at a time, can only generate one thing at a time. I know for a fact we can upgrade it." Rena smiles eagerly. "Come on..."

"I don't know...Dad and Mr. Asuno were always pretty cautious about the AGE Builder..."

Alright, so it's harder to reverse engineer here then in Treasure Star. Thank you for clarifying, figured I should at least ask.

Speaking of the AGE System, we need to stick the Proto-Adele into it.

>>25230220
It's not a Secret, but I'm pretty sure they're keeping exactly how it works and technical data on it a secret so Vagans can't steal it. It's also the reason there are only three of the fuckers.

Because I really don't want this war to be ended only for the war against the Mechanoids to begin. >>
>>25230220
Yeah, but it was after we petitioned the Feds to send us over whatever they could about it.
And the technical data is classified - only Jake and Flit know how much the damn thing can produce.

Besides, think it through. She just met us, asks us out, and instead of being interested in the guy she's with, she's talking about the Builder.
Way too suspicious to me. Turn her down. Say how we'd love to help her make stuff, but Jake and Flit are the only ones who know how the thing works.
>>
>>25230251
Perhaps, but I'd still rather turn her down now and ask Jake and Flit before we let her have a go at the AGE Builder. Maybe get some background info on her from Wolf and Desil.

Hell, it's already got a set of extending rails. The thing makes more sense as a railgun than a beam gun.
>>
>>25230267
>it was after we petitioned the Feds to send us over whatever they could about it.
Well, she is part of Desil's personal squad of badasses. She's probably got clearances out the ass, considering that.
However, what we should probably do is tell her we'll check with Flit and dad. Not turn her down outright, just let her know we don't wanna break their shit, y'know?

>>
>>25230305
I doubt that she has clearance for hampering with the builder, though. Or technical data about the builder.
That's like having a pilot know the details for a nuke. It just doesn't fit.

We need to check out her history, and get clearance from Jake and Flit. Better safe than sorry. Agreed on that.
Act like a professional, tell her how we don't have the rights to do that, even if we'd love to. If she pushes it, something is fishy.
>>
>>25230284
It reeks of Vagan sabotage. Don't mess with the Deus Ex Machina! The Builders' inner mechanics are highly classified. Noone but Jake and Flit really understand how it works. Besides, the only practical way to improve it that I can think of is to link the computer system to multiple production units or an enormous builder unit. The AGE Builder is completely self-contained. There isn't much that needs or can be done to it without putting it offline for weeks at the least.

>>25230292
Yep. It was my inspiration for the anti-ship/anti-colony Hypervelocity Launcher I proposed when coming up with the Merlin's basic form and weapons.

"Well, I'm not going to be improving the AGE Device or the data gathering stuff, that's pretty far over my head.

But the Builder itself, it could be refined and improved. As you noted its main flaw is that it can only make one thing at a time. There's two solutions I can think of for that off the top of my head. The first is a complete kludge and just involves duct taping and wiring a pile more Builders to the Device and having them all work on their own projects independently. It'll work, but damn is it inelegant. The second one is a lot harder, we take cues from traditional Mobile Suit, or really any industrial scale, manufacturing process. We make a production line, instead of having one thing contain everything and do the outline, fill it in, put in circuits, yadda yadda we make multiple specialized ones, one does the basic outline material, passes it on to the next which fills it in molecule by molecule, then the last one does the circuits, and if I missed any steps we put those in too.

By not having all the specialized stuff for every single process in each one we should be able to complete each individual step faster by making each portion super specialized towards one task so it's much faster, and it never stops performing its chosen task as it doesn't have to stop to let the other stuff do its thing.

Assuming we can perhaps double the speed of each individual process and they all take about the same amount of time we should be able to make it produce stuff six times as fast without any trouble, more if we scale it up further."

For the AGE builder, either link multiple together or create an assembly line. Or make one huge that can create entire suits already completed.
Maybe link it with a replicator so that all the scrap we salvage will be immediately useful.

>>
>>25230371
Make the builder faster by increasing the amount of processing power it has. To do this it's simply a matter of increasing the size and then adding more of the cutters and shapers it has inside. Or make a bunch of smaller versions of the current tools and fit them inside the existing builder.

"Well, I can't speak to the actual evolutionary design program the AGE System uses. I'm pretty sure the only person who actually understands it is Flit Asuno. But the main problem with the Builder itself is that it uses the same production line for every part it makes. It would go a lot faster if you had multiple lines feeding into one assembler. But to be fair, it was never intended for mass production, so I guess I can see why it's not optimized for that."

Her interest is still kind of suspicious. Nothing that can't be explained away as professional curiosity, but I still think we should ask Desil about background checks on his pilots. We wouldn't normally be this suspicious, but we DID just learn that one of our best friends is actually a mind-controlled spy. And a cute girl who shares our interests and wants to know all about our super-technology fabricator? Seems worth checking out before we do anything more.
>>
>>25230534
Speaking of smaller versions of the tools, whatever happened to the nanobuilder?
We said that we can create the machine capable of replicating the Black Raven's wings, and those things are basically nanomachines.
So we improve the AGE builder by creating miniature builder droids inside it.

Because Dirk while he may be a somewhat insane engineer follows proper safety precautions when it comes to things like this.

Moblie Armor with self-repair and upgrading abilities. Controlled by an AI and programmed to blast anyone looking for the EXA-DB. Unless you completely destroy it, it'll just get more and more deadly.

SID is the mobile armor set to guarding the EXA-DB, the database housing all the pre-AG technology. It also incorporates all of this technology into its own design, and is capable of redesigns and self-repair. As such, it is tremendously powerful. We need at least a generation and a half more development before we can even scratch it.

It is also, in this AU, based on an upgraded form of MID, our little robot buddy. So it's going to be really weird for us when we finally run into it.

Imagine a reaper from Mass Effect. Combine it with an AGE builder.

I don't think it's Yunoa. She wouldn't be old enough. Unless she's really developed for her age in this timeline, I guess.

Well I think he would have managed to get a haircut at some point. I'm figuring either shorter less mess hair, or he keeps it messy but ties it back into a ponytail.

Might even have grown facial hair at this point, maybe sideburns.

Oh yeah Desil looks a lot less psychotic and a lot more presentable.

I guess we assumed that she's 18. She could easily be a child prodigy like Flit was, and just looks older than she is.

And now I can't unsee him looking like a redhead version of Kaji. Of course that's partially Crosswire's fault for using Asuka for Scarlet.

Scarlet doesn't have enough parental issues to crush on older men.
>>
>>25231031
That, combined with the sane, older Zeheart.
>>
>>25231031
Except I'm pretty sure Scarlet doesn't have a crush on him, at all. She loves him like an Uncle and might pull him into spine crushing hugs or force him to play MS Sims with her all day.

Though yeah, that does look like a much more presentable Desil.

He might even wear glasses at times, that'd soften his image a lot with the right frames.

Oh I know, I just meant appearance-wise, not a literal redhead Kaji.
>>
>>25231007
Aw, there goes my mental image of Desil looking like a Super Robot pilot.
>>
>>25231123
He could have sudden bursts of crazy when he's piloting in an ultra-tense situation.
>>
>>25231139
Possibly. Even though he tries to control it, his old insanity sometimes shows through.
And now, with the realization of what happened to his family, we're going to see a lot more of crazy Desil.
>>
>>25231123
If he's doing the long tied up hair thing when things get crazy and need him to go SUPER PILOT it can come undone and he can put on a crazy smile and crazy eyes.
