You stare at the map of the city Oorai as you bring Miho a can of Coke. "So, where's our Alamo?" You say, looking at the confusing maze of streets and alleys. You are the Commander of the M26A1 "Super" Pershing "Black Jack" and despite your own tank's power, you don't have the greatest feeling about taking a group of amateur tankers up against the better equiped and more experienced St. Glorianna's.

Miho looks up from the map. "Alamo?" She askes confused. You realise that the reference probably doesn't have a lot of meaning.

"Our last stand-" You continue, looking at the map. "We need a defensible position, somewhere we can concentrate surviving forces if things go badly."

"I see." She says, looking at the map for a few more seconds. She finally taps a spot near the center of Oorai. "Right here. Buildings give us cover and they'll only have two attack routes that allow them more than a tank a time." She looks up at you. "What's was the Alamo?" She askes, curious.

"It was a fort in Texas- the Mexico Army was trying take control of Texas, they laid seige to less than two-hundred Texan soldiers there."

She smiles. "And the defenders fought a glorious defense to defend their homes?"

"They were wiped out completely by the Mexican army." You say and Miho's face falls. "They lasted nearly two weeks, though, and took a big chunk of the Mexican Army with them." You continue. Yeah, probably not the best story to tell to inspire confidence. "Not to mention the whole thing rallied the rest of Texas to kick the Mexican Army out of Texas."

She frowns a bit. "Sometimes, no matter how hard you fight, victory just isn't possible."

Yeah, this conversation isn't going anywhere positive. You try to change the subject. "So did you get anything from Yukari about Glorianna's tanks?"

Miho nods. "I barely had to ask her- she says Glorianna's got a pretty big motor pool- Churchills, Matildas, Crusaders- I heard they got their hands on some new tanks over the summer, as well." That worries you perhaps more than it should. Glorianna was not a poor school, from what you had gathered and

"Any idea what?"

Miho shrugs. "They always favor British tanks- they've been trying to get a Centurion for years." She thinks for a second. "Maybe they'll try for a Comet or a Firefly?" Any of those tanks was perfectly capable of knocking your tank out- the Centurion especially was considered to be the first modern Main Battle Tank by most and it's power had made it the subject of endless debate on whether it was appropriate for them to be fighting World War II tanks.

[] "Any way we can narrow those possibilities down?"

See, if they're gonna field fucking Centurions, then fuck that. They're highschoolers. I thought they were limited to WW2 materiel.

Now, even without the Centurions, they still have a big fucking pool of tanks.

And here comes the funnest part.

British tank design doctrine was ruled by politics, horsefuckers and complete and utter stupidity. Not only did they ignore their leading tank theorists and send THEIR ONLY GOOD GENERAL WITH ACTUAL TANK EXPERIENCE TO THE FUCKING DESERT, the fucking General Staff, being complete and utter horsefucking asshole horsefuckers, decided to split their tank classifications into two: Infantry support and Cruisers.

Infantry support tanks were meant to support infantry. The Matilda and Churchill were designed with this in mind. They are fucking metal bricks with a piddly gun.

The Cruisers, on the other hand, was meant to be the cavalry: charge in hard and fast and fuck shit up.The Covernaters, Valentines and pretty much anything that wasn't a Matilda or Churchill.

And now here comes the fun part. Matildas and Churchills are super slow but can take a shitload of damage. Cruiser-type tanks have fucking paper for Armor, but may have good guns.

The best part? Those fucking tanks have a tendency to break down and die every so often. Why? Because the damn Brits thought putting WWI AIRPLANE ENGINES INTO A TANK WAS A GOOD IDEA.

Shit fuck shit, when a tank crew in Britain got a motherfucking LEE to drive, they were crying their hearts out? Why? BECAUSE THEY FINALLY HAD SOMETHING THAT DIDN'T FUCKING BREAK BEFORE IT FOUGHT.

In the Anime, Gloriana was driving 4 Matildas and a Churchill. The only thing we have to worry about is THAT FUCKING CHURCHILL. I am also assuming they are mounting the High-Velocity 75mm or the 17pdr.

...And if they're hauling a Sherman Firefly, well, fuck everything. Just suit up and do the Anglerfish Dance.

The same wiki article says it first saw action in the Korean War.

I dunno what the Senshado rules are, but if we're going by "first saw service" date, then no Centurions.
>>
>>25228044
If we were going by "first saw service" date, Schwarzwald wouldn't have been able to bring a Maus since they never entered service.
>>
>>25228044
It's either "first working prototype" or "first started production of prototype" can't quite remember.
>>
>>25228044
The rules are essentially that if there was a prototype then it gets in.

It is possible to bring in tanks that were designed but never used but you have to go through the judges for that and it's pretty unlikely they'll be let in.

That's what I remember anyway. I might be wrong.
>>
iirc the rules are 'in development by VJ/VE day (can't remember which).
>>
>>25228044

Actually. Centurions were manufactured in January of 1945, and they were finally deployed in May, however the War in Europe was over at that point so they never saw combat.

IIRC, Senshado rules state that any tank produced before VJ day is fair game. (This also allows the Maus, which although it never saw combat had a functional prototype before the War ended.

You're worried about even the possiblity Centurion. You don't like to admit it but you had never liked a fair fight when it came to tanks- psychologically, the idea of going into battle knowing that you would win was a huge benefit. "Even assuming they only bring a Churchill and Matildas, Black Jack's the only tank that can reliably take them down-" You lean back and stare at the ceiling. "Hell, the Chi-Ha can't penetrate a single of of them unless they get real lucky. And the 38t's going to have trouble as well."

Miho smiles. "You really shouldn't take this so seriously." She says. "If we lose, there's nothing on the line- the tournement doesn't start for another month."

You sigh. "Maybe for you." You say begrudgingly turning your head down to look over at her. "You might be able to say 'I fought well and lost' but Americans like me? We love to win and can't stand to lose." You frown and look down on the maps and books Miho and Yukari had brought over. "You know, last night? I was awake in bed going over every decision I made in that battle- What if I'd chased you back into the mountains? What if I had just stayed up on the ridge and kept firing. What if I'd just fired a 90mm round into the Chi-Ha and heard you coming?" You shake your head and look back up at her. "I hate losing, Miho. Even when it doesn't count and especially when it does count."

She keeps her smile. "Good."

>We really do need to figure out what tanks St Glorianna is going to be fielding.

>"Notice any good ambush positions we can fall back to after the ridge?"

Church or Centurion doesn't matter, we just need a way to get it in Black jacks sights
>>
>>25228747
>"How are we going to use our weaker tanks in this fight?"
Seriously. Only three of our tanks are even a threat to the britbottles. Even then, the Panzer IV's only threatening at danger-close range.
>>
Can't the weaker tanks still track the british tanks?

Tracking a tank is only a mobility kill, but it forces them into a defensive position while they try to repair and allows us to relocate blackjack, or they might just leave it behind.
>>
>>25228922
Keep in mind St G might bring different tanks to the ones in the anime. If they opt for cruisers then our weaker tanks are still effective albeit only by being sneaky.

Mind you, Darjeeling prefers Infantry tanks (supposedly anyway, Earl Grey liked cruisers apparently). So our smaller tanks might be effective. Then again they might not.
>>
>>25228993
IIRC the Churchill has armored tracks, but the others don't.
>>
>>25228993

Possible, but the weaker tanks are still dead in the water should the Matilda's 2pdr hit them.

Actually, even the cute little tankette the Italians had could still kill our weaker tanks. It all depends on how little a fuck the tankers in Anzio give that day.

Italian tankers are hardcore and usually gave no fucks.
>>
>>25228747
If our weaker tanks can't penetrate them, then why don't we use them to block/get in between the enemy tanks? Make them distract the enemy, so that we can ambush them from multiple angles.
>>
>>25228993
Well you could have them use the tactic soviet shermans used on Tigers. One tank tracks, the other shoots it as its forward momentum makes it expose its side.
>>
You look back down at the map. "So we're going to ambush them here." You point to the ridge. "They're gonna see the first ambush coming a mile away but maybe we should have a few more spots for Black Jack and maybe the StuG to fall back to-"

Miho nods and studies the map. "As you drop in elevation you start getting into more wooded areas..." She starts, chewing her thumb as she searches. "Here. There's side-road here, easy to miss and it would give both of you a path of retreat- it heads back and then reconnects with this road here. You can get right into Oorai from there." She frowns. "It's a longer trip, though, and we'll be hardpressed to win until you make it back to Oorai."

You shrug and lean back. "If we can knock out one or two of their tanks early on, you'll have a much easier time hanging on until we get there." You say. "Hell, maybe we can bag whatever new tank they decided to field."

Miho nods. "If anything goes wrong though the rest of the team will be too far away to support you two. And if you two are isolated and knocked out that means my team is the only team left that can reliably penetrate them..."

"I've actually been thinking about that." Miho says. "I think the driver in the I-Go has some talent- she was able to trail you for close to twenty minutes and you never saw her. I think maybe we could have her pull off into the forest and do the same thing for Glorianna- trail them at a distance and just let us know what they have and where they're at..."

"Worked out well last time." You say. "Once everything starts up, they might be able to take a potshot or two at them from the rear- even if it doesn't do anything they'll still get Glorianna's attention- and if they try to turn to return fire the rest of you will have an easier shot."

"The 38t is actually a bit more problematic- Momo tries hard, but she gets too excited and can't shoot straight." You nod at this- it was actually why Rose had become the gunner over Patrick- Patrick was too excitable while Rose had a sometimes unnerving, unearthly calm during a fight.

"Maybe they can distract them?" You say. "Run in, pop off a few shots and duck back out through a side-street- the 38t is probably our fastest tank. Even if they do no damage it's going to slow them down and waste their ammunition."

Miho nods. "Exactly. And if they can draw some of them off into a chase it's even better- divide and conquer."

You're still mulling over the idea of Comets and Centurions rolling over you and then your team after you when you have a thought. "Yukari?" You ask towards the kitchen.

A few seconds later her head pops out of the kitchen, looking slightly annoyed but still cheerful- probably interrupted one of Grandad's stories. "Yes?" She askes, clearly eager to get back in there and continue to listen.

"Hey, you go on a lot of tank forums and stuff, right?" You ask.

"Oh yeah, I'm on all the big ones- PanzerKraft, SenshadoNetwork, WorldofTankery..." She starts rattling off the list. It's actually kind of impressive in it's length. "...but that one's only really for Pre-War Polish tankettes. But what did you need to know?"

"Know anything about Glorianna getting new tanks over the summer?" You ask.

She looks back into the kitchen, then darts over to the table. "Yep! I was talking with CruiserChan, she's a friend of mine that goes to Glorianna- she's so jealous that I got on the tank team- anyway. She said they got they got three crates over the summer. Got pictures and everything. There's two smaller ones and then a really big one- She thinks it's a TOG but I don't think Glorianna would bother fielding one of those, they're just too slow and vulnerable to faster-"

You cut her off before she goes too far off on a tangent. "Any idea what they had in them?"

She thinks. "Well, the big one was a bit too wide for a regular Churchill, but it wasn't big enough to be a Tortoise or anything like that. The two smaller ones were probably medium tanks- my guess is Comets or Cromwells?" She says with a shrug. So the Centurion wasn't exactly likely, but Comets and Cromwells were still nasty cruisers, a good balance of speed and firepower even if they were a bit underarmored, especially on the sides. The third tank was completely up in the air, though.

You look over at Miho. "Cruiser tanks... Ever fought one, Miho?" You ask.

She shakes her head. "Darjeeling commanded the Glorianna tank team last year and she prefers Infantry Tanks. Their last commander liked them though." She thinks for a second. "Saunders did outmaneuver them pretty badly last year, maybe she's looking to balance their lineup?"

You smile, nodding. "Cromwells aren't bad if they're used right- they're mobile and their 75mm is good." You smile to yourself. "I've seen them a couple of times- their fast but they've got no armor so even the 38t shouldn't have too much trouble taking one down if they can get a shot."

"What about Comets?" Yukari asks, suddenly very interested in what you have to say.

"They're a popular tank back home. Good mix of firepower and mobility- a bit skimpy on the armor but the High Velocity 75mm is wicked." You smile to yourself. "First tank we ever won against was a Comet." The A32 was nothing special, but the 38t would have trouble unless it got around to it's side. "The trick with either of them, I think, is going to be getting them out in the open where they can't duck into cover."

"Or getting them into tight corridors where they can't maneuver." Miho says, looking at the other end of the spectrum.

You're about to argue the point when Miho gets a call. She looks embarassed as she pulls her phone out. "I'm sorry!" She looks at the number. "It's Anzu!" She says as she answers the call.

She smiles back before asking, in a hushed tone. "So what other tanks did you fight against?"

You don't quite know how to respond. "Well... A lot of them. Mostly a lot of Sherman varients- Easy Eights, Jumbos, A4s... Lot of T-34s too, though they were never as popular..." Yukari is in rapt attention as you glance over at Miho, who's nodding and agreeing with something.

"What about German tanks?" Yukari asks.

"They're a lot more rare, but there's one team with a Panther we took down." You leave out the fact that it's crew are douchebags with more money than brains or talent. "Someone's got a Tiger, too, but they're still restoring it- German tanks are pretty rare and you don't see them often in America."

She looks a bit disappointed as Miho hangs up the phone. "Commanders' Meeting." She says. "Momo's got a strategy she wants to go over with the rest of the team for tomorrow."
